Brigitte Nielsen drops out of Celebrity MasterChef

OHMYGOSSIP — Brigitte Nielsen has pulled out of ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The 53-year-old actress – who was previously married to Sylvester Stallone – has been forced to drop out of the culinary contest after suffering a painful hip injury that would have left her unable to stand for hours at a time during filming.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s so frustrating, it would have been great for her profile in the UK.
“A lot of people remember Brigitte from ‘Rocky’ and it was hoped she would dish the dirt on Sly, as well as Eddie Murphy, who she has also worked with.
“But she’s really hurt her hip and there’s no way she could cope with standing all day.”
Programme bosses are now feeling the pressure to find a contestant to fill the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star’s vacant slot.
The source added: “They are now rushing around to find a replacement.”
It was recently revealed Ulrika Jonsson will take part on the new series of the show.
A source said: “This shows Ulrika is ready to restart her career. She was very public in opting to step out of the limelight, now she’s doing something she’s comfortable with — and even has a chance of winning.”
And Rachel Stevens has also jumped on board the new series – even though she said last year she’s not a great cook.
She said recently: ‘I’m learning to cook. It’s not my forté, but I try and balance my portion sizes. I love my carbs, especially in winter. I know it’s boring to say, but running after the kids helps me keep in shape.”
Despite her lack of experience in the kitchen, the former S Club 7 singer isn’t prepared to give up without a fight and is thoroughly looking forward to getting stuck in.
A source said: “Rachel loves cooking and can’t wait to get into the kitchen. She’s a keen amateur chef and won’t be going home without a fight.”

K-2SO could return to Star Wars

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ droid K-2SO could be lined up for a ‘Star Wars’ return.
While the robotic insertion agent was killed off in the stand-alone movie, actor Alan Tudyk, who voiced the droid, doesn’t believe that means the end of his alter ego.
Asked by reporter Ryan J. Downey at Lucasfilm’s San Francisco headquarters if K-2SO could return, Alan quipped to animation supervisor Hal Hickel: “You’re more in touch with the people that pull those triggers.”
Hal replied: “I would love to see that, because I love the character, I love being a part of bringing a new Star Wars droid into the Star Wars Universe.
But Alan joked: “I’d love Christmas to come without tears but…it’s never gonna happen.”
However, Hal thinks there are ways around the droid’s end that could see him resurrected.
He added: “So I don’t have an answer for you but I’d love to see it. To be honest I’d love to imagine somehow or other, was it you (Tudyk) that was saying when he extracts the information from the other droid that maybe he actually downloaded your stuff into his head, somebody was telling me this and I was like ‘Oh my God that’s a great idea’, and then maybe that droid – because it was somewhere else in the complex – survived the big blast.”
But Alan has his own ideas for a K-2SO and Cassian Andor spin-off that explores how the pair first met up and became inseparable partners.
He said: “How about this one, Cassian and how he finds K-2 and some of their adventures together before they got all this baggage.”
And as the show continues to further develop the backstory of the Rebel alliance, Hal believes there is definitely room to show how the droid joined the cause.
Hal added: “And that should totally criss-cross with Rebels so that would be great.”

Stellan Skarsgard to star in Holocaust drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Stellan Skarsgard has confirmed he’ll star in ‘The Painted Bird’.
The 65-year-old actor will play a German soldier in the Holocaust drama, which is a screen adaptation of Polish writer Jerzy Kosinski’s controversial 1965 novel, while Harvey Keitel is also in talks to appear in the film.
Vaclav Marhoul will direct the movie, which tells the tale of a Jewish boy who tries to hide his faith to avoid detection from Nazis as he wanders through Eastern Europe during World War II.
The tale sparked criticism when the novel was published because of its portrayal of wartime horrors carried out by Polish peasants.
But Stellan told The Hollywood Reporter he thought ‘The Painted Bird’ was “a lovely book and a lovely screenplay.”
He added: “You are probably familiar with the story — it follows a young boy and his encounters with a lot of different people, and I am one of them.”
Marhoul bought the screen rights to ‘The Painted Bird’ in 2010 and has described the story as “a deeply dramatic story examining the immediate relationship between terror and cruelty on one side and innocence and love on the other.”
The novel “captivated” the filmmaker, who had spent years adapting the material for the screen.
Marhoul added: “There were moments when I became overwhelmed by the feeling that I can’t do this, that I bit off more than I can chew.”
It is understood that Marhoul has secured letters of intent to star in the $5 million project from both Skarsgard and Keitel, with Udo Kier attached to play “the miller”.
Meanwhile, nine-year-old Czech actor Petr Kotlar, will play the young Jewish boy. The cast also includes Polish, Ukrainian, Russia and Czech actors.
Principal photography for the black-and-white film, which is a co-production between Marhoul’s Prague-based company Silver Screen, Czech public television and Czech, Slovak and Ukrainian producers – is expected to start after two preliminary shooting days in Prague and on location in Ukraine and will be shot over 105 days.
A world premiere is planned for May 2019, with the Czech cinematic release planned for September 2019.

John Barrowman wants Disney role

OHMYGOSSIP — John Barrowman would “love” to do a Disney live-action movie.
The 50-year-old actor has admitted he’s a fan of the recent trend of remaking classic animated Disney films in a live-action format – such as the recently released ‘Beauty and the Beast’ remake – and has said he’s itching to be a part of phenomenon, although he’s unsure which movie he would appear in.
He said: “I’d love to do a Disney live-action movie. I really would. It’s just a question of what ones they’re going to do now because of the massive success they’ve had with ‘Beauty and the Beast’, which I thought was awesome. I sat like a kid in a candy store watching it.”
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star admitted it has “always been a dream” of his to star in a Disney film, and with live-action remakes of ‘The Lion King’, ‘Mulan’, and ‘Aladdin’ in the pipeline there’s plenty of opportunities for him to have a role.
Speaking at the Fan Expo Dallas convention over the weekend, the ‘Arrow’ actor added: “I don’t know [which character I would want to play]. I don’t have an answer to that, but it’s always been a dream of mine to be in a Disney film. And whether it’s a voice, or if it was Disney live action, so because of that movie, I think there’s going to be plenty of Disney live action movies coming out, maybe with animated animals, all that sort of stuff. I don’t know. But fingers crossed.”
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that ‘The Lion King’ director Jon Favreau is keen to secure megastar Beyoncé as Nala, and is even happy to fit the voiceover part around her schedule and the impending arrival of her twins.
Whilst sources confirmed that nothing has been finalised yet, Favreau and the team are said to be willing to do anything to secure Beyoncé for the part.

Vin Diesel explains his love of social media

OHMYGOSSIP — Vin Diesel thinks social media has helped to change the public’s perception of him.
The 49-year-old movie star believes that websites such as Twitter and Facebook have allowed fans to get to know him better and to understand that he’s a more rounded person than his typical on-screen persona might suggest.
He explained: “Social media has allowed me to post a video of me singing to the mother of my children on Valentine’s Day. How would you ever be able to see that before social media?
“Social media has documented some of the most challenging moments of life – when I lost my brother Pablo [‘Fast and Furious’ co-star Paul Walker, who died in a crash in 2013]. There’s wisdom that comes from an honest page.”
Facebook has also helped Vin to develop an unlikely friendship with Mark Zuckerberg, the chairman, chief executive officer, and co-founder of the social networking website.
Of his friendship with the billionaire, Vin told the New York Times newspaper: “I love him. He’s such a great guy and he’s a fan of my work.
“He probably encouraged me more than anyone else to return to Xander Cage. We were hanging out up at Facebook about two years ago, and I was excited about ‘Fast 7.’ He said, ‘You know what movie I’d most like to see is the return of Xander Cage.'”
In fact, Mark can even quote specific lines from films in which Vin has starred.
The Hollywood actor shared: “It’s at a point where if Mark and I are together and if I quote a line from a character I played and I do it slightly wrong, he’ll correct me. It’s embarrassing.”

Rogue One was love letter to Carrie Fisher

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Edwards has described ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ as “one big love letter” to Carrie Fisher.
The 41-year-old filmmaker admitted he has been unable to sit down and watch the stand-alone movie – which ends with digitally-recreated footage of the actress as Princess Leia from the original ‘Star Wars’ – since Carrie’s shock passing last December.
He said: “I’ve not really sat and watched the film since the opening weekend, when Carrie was still with us. I just feel the whole thing was, to be honest, one big love letter to Carrie.
“What we’re doing with the entire movie is all building to that one moment [of the Death Star plans being handed to Princess Leia] where we hand the baton to her, to go off and make that film that inspired us all as kids.
“So it couldn’t have ended better from that point of view.”
But Gareth admitted he feels very “sad” that he never got to properly talk to Carrie about the film series.
He added to the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “It’s just sad – I was always thinking that I would get to meet her and talk to her at some point about it, and I never really met her properly. I walked past her once on the set of ‘Episode VII’, I was meeting some of the crew, and she walked past me, and I had a little fanboy freakout.”
However, the filmmaker was “reassured” to know Carrie was impressed with the CGI footage as she wasn’t a fan of the technology but didn’t realise at first that she’d been digitally recreated.
He recalled: “When it came to our film, it went so late with that shot, trying to get it right, that Kathy (Kennedy, producer) took it down personally, on a laptop, and showed her.
“And initially Carrie apparently didn’t realise it was CGI, and wondered if it was footage which we had taken from somewhere else. Which was really reassuring for us.
“I thought, one day, either at the premiere, or one of these conventions, I’d get a chance to talk to her. And it’s really sad that it’s not going to get to happen.”

Zach Braff tried not ot be in awe of cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Zach Braff had to give himself daily “pep talks” to stop himself getting intimidated by his ‘Going In Style’ cast.
The actor-turned-director knew the quality of the heist comedy – a remake of the 1979 film of the same name – would be affected if he let himself be too much in awe of screen legends Sir Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin.
He said: “I knew I was doing a disservice to the film and to them if I was a deer in the headlights.
“So I had to give myself morning pep talks, like, ‘They’re just actors. Direct them like you directed other actors.’
“As a testament to them, they never once gave me the ‘Who do you think you are, kid?!’ treatment.”
Morgan, Michael and Alan were all impressed by Zach’s ability behind the camera, but are unsure of his decision to take on TV series ‘Start Up’ as his next venture.
Morgan said: “I think he has a great future as a director.”
Michael agreed: “Oh yeah – he’s very visual. But what he’s doing is, he’s doing a TV series where he’s directing and playing the lead. He’s not doing a movie [next].
“I’d have done another movie. A TV series goes on forever, doesn’t it?”
Morgan said: “I wouldn’t take that on. It’s just non-stop. [But] they’re short work periods… you work 13, 14, 15 weeks and you’re done. They’re intense.”
Alan added to Total Film magazine: “Yeah, but those 15 weeks take 25 weeks.”
Ann-Margret also appears in the film and compared the experience to working with legendary Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau on ‘Grumpy Old Men’.
She said: “Doing this film really reminded me so much of working with Jack and Walter, this warm feeling that we had. I loved coming to work.”

Michael Caine wants to be old Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Michael Caine would like to play James Bond as an “old man”.
The 84-year-old actor insists there are no dream roles left for him, but the idea of playing an elderly version of the iconic British spy would be appealing.
Asked if there’s anything left he wants to play, he replied: “No I seem to have played every bloody thing.”
But then when the suggestion of an elderly Bond, in the vein of Sir Ian McKellen’s old Sherlock in ‘Mr. Holmes’, was suggested, he replied: “James Bond as an old man. Yeah. We’ll have to tell Barbara (Broccoli, producer).”
Though veteran former Bond stars Sir Sean Connery and Sir Roger Moore are still alive, Michael insists he’d be the better choice for the role.
He quipped to Event magazine: “Yeah, well, they’re older than me!”
Though he’s getting older himself, the ‘Harry Brown’ actor insists he has no trouble remembering his lines, but it does take him much longer to learn them.
He said: “I thought I would forget the lines when I got older but I don’t. It just takes me ten times longer to learn them.”
And the veteran actor has no plans to slow down his career any time soon.
He said: “I was 84 yesterday. I see people in the paper who have died aged 84 and it says, ‘He had a good innings.’ A good innings? I’ve not started batting yet! We’ve only just had the tea break.”
Michael will next start filming ‘Hatton Garden’, the story of the infamous 2015 London jewellery robbery, with Sir Michael Gambon, Ray Winstone and Jim Broadbent, and is desperate to meet Brian Reader, the 73-year-old mastermind behind the theft, after being warned he was “too common” for the role.
He said: “I tried to get to see him [in jail] but I haven’t managed it yet. I’ll keep trying. It’s tricky because I don’t know how he speaks.
“I was told he was a Cockney, but then the writer talked to his daughter. She said, ‘Who’s going to play my father?’ He said, ‘Michael Caine.’ She said, ‘He’s too common.’
“It helps, in one way. I was worried about how a thick Cockney accent would go down in America. When ‘Alfie’ came out, it made me a star in Britain but I had to do new dialogue for the States because they said, ‘In America, they don’t know what you’re talking about.’ ”

Dax Shepard wants to remake Dukes of Hazzard

OHMYGOSSIP — Dax Shepard wants to remake ‘Dukes of Hazzard’.
The 42-year-old actor-and-filmmaker recently took the helm of action comedy ‘CHiPs’ – which is based on 1970s TV show of the same name – but admitted he would be excited about working on anything that combined his loves of comedy and motor vehicles.
He said: “I’m always looking for anything that will fuse motorsports with comedy. So I would have relaunched ‘Dukes of Hazzard’, I would have done ‘Starsky and Hutch’. I would do anything that has cars and comedy.”
Dax – who plays California Highway patrol Officer Jon Baker in the movie – threw himself wholeheartedly into the stunt work on the film, and even wanted to tackle daring feats that had nothing to do with his character.
He admitted: “The insurance provider had an itemised list of every single stunt in the movie and I said, ‘OK, I want to do this and I want to do this and I want to do this … I want to drive the car in the opening scene.
“They’re like, ‘That’s not even your character’. I’m like, ‘I know, but that’s gonna be a fun stunt.’ They let me do a ton of stuff.”
Dax was heavily influenced by another buddy cop movie, ‘Lethal Weapon’, when writing ‘CHIPS’ – even if it didn’t turn out quite the way he had expected.
He told Total Film magazine: “I happened to meet with (‘Lethal Weapon’ writer) Shane Black’s writing partner after I’d written the script and he said, ‘You know, you keep saying ‘Lethal Weapon’. I don’t think this is nearly as dark as ‘Lethal Weapon’.
“But Shane thought he was making ‘The French Connection’ and landed on ‘Lethal Weapon’. So if you aim at ‘Lethal Weapon’, you’ll land somewhere you like.’ I very much was watching ‘Lethal Weapon’ a bunch when I wrote this, and ‘Bad Boys’ is my other favourite buddy cop movie.”

Scarlett Johansson and Michael Pitt slammed for Ghost in the Shell roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Johansson and Michael Pitt have been blasted by the Media Action Network for Asian Americans (MANAA).
The pair star in the live-action adaptation of the hugely popular Japanese anime series ‘Ghost in the Shell’ and have been slammed for taking on roles which MANAA believes should have gone to Asian actors.
MANAA President Robert Chan said in a statement: “Apparently, in Hollywood, Japanese people can’t play Japanese people anymore. There’s no reason why either Motoku [Scarlett’s character) or Hideo (Michael’s character) could not have been portrayed by Japanese or Asian actors instead of Scarlett Johansson and Michael Pitt. We don’t even get to see what they looked like in their original human identities – a further white-wash.”
However, director Rupert Sanders recently praised Scarlett for doing an “incredible job” of portraying a human robot in the movie.
The 32-year-old actress takes on the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi and the 46-year-old filmmaker was amazed by how well the star subtly acted out the droid’s realisation of their human qualities.
British-born Sanders said he feels “so lucky” to have gotten the chance to work with the in-demand Hollywood star.
He said: “At first, the human mind and the machine body was more encapsulated by the machine.
“As the film develops, though, and as she understands more about who she is as a human, she starts to become a bit more human.
“It’s a hard one. Scarlett joked a lot about it.
“She said, ‘You’ve taken away everything that an actor relies on to create a character!
“But she did on amazing job of finding the nuance and subtlety of the humanity awakening within a robot.
“It was a very hard performance but she’s an incredible talent. I was so lucky to get the chance to work with her on this.”

Sylvester Stallone quits The Expendables franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — Sylvester Stallone has quit ‘The Expendables’ franchise.
Although the 70-year-old actor directed the first movie in the franchise and starred in all three, he has decided not to return for the fourth movie, due to creative differences with Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner over the script and director.
Avi told Deadline: “We’ve got disagreements with Sly, but we’ve had them for over a year and a half. Right now, each one has opinion. We agreed on 95 per cent of things, but there are certain things in production we don’t agree on. I don’t think it’s over, but what write whatever you want. In my opinion, it’s not dead.”
The Expendables 4′ was set to reunite series staples Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dolph Lundgren – who played Russian boxer Ivan Drago in ‘Rocky IV’.
Sylvester confirmed in January that a fourth movie was on the way, revealing that he had been hitting the gym ahead of the next instalment in the blockbuster action-thriller franchise.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, he said he was working on the next movie, and “that it was going to be great, fingers crossed”.
He added: “We’re going to do our best. I think we’ve got some really great actors going, we’ve got great ideas, everyone’s expecting something different and we’re going to give it to ’em.”
Until then, talk of another movie had gone quiet since October 2015, when studio Nu Image announced that Chinese funding would enable a fourth installment after almost half of ‘Expendables 3’s total worldwide box office takings of $200m came from China, with just $40m from the US.
At the time, executive producer Steven Paul said: “What seems to work in China, is that these movies are good old-fashioned shoot ’em up entertainment.”
Stallone – who has also directed the ‘Rambo’ and the ‘Rocky’ franchises – helmed the first ‘Expendables’ back in 2010.
Simon West took over the reins for ‘Expendables 2’ and Patrick Hughes on ‘Expendables 3’.
Stallone has continued to star in front of the camera in all the films alongside regulars; Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Jet Li, Bruce Willis and Wesley Snipes.

Joe Manganiello excited for The Batman role

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Manganiello is “very excited” about his role in ‘The Batman’.
The 40-year-old actor will play Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke opposite Ben Affleck in the title role in the upcoming DC blockbuster, and he couldn’t be happier about it as he’s always “rooted for the villain” when watching similar films.
He said: “I’m very excited. I just started kung fu, qigong and cutting with a live katana blade. That’s been a lot of fun.
“I grew up rooting for the villain. These characters mean so much to so many people and there’s a real opportunity to polarise an audience or have them walk away maybe not agreeing with my character but understanding why he does what he does. That’s a really fun challenge.”
Joe was delighted to voice Hefty in ‘Smurfs: The Lost Village’ recently as he felt the role paid homage to his own childhood.
He said: “I wanted to do something that’s accessible to kids but also something that spoke to the things I loved as a kid.”
The hunky actor – who is married to Sofia Vergara – has also been filming ‘Drunk Parents’ with Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek and had a great time shooting the comedy.
He said: “It’s hilarious. We were cracking up between takes.”
And the ‘Magic Mike’ actor thinks his career is just going from strength to strength since he turned 40 in December.
He told Total Film magazine: “There’s something about turning 40. All of a sudden I’m getting everything I’ve ever wanted. I’m really excited about where I’m at and the projects I’ve got coming up.”

Elizabeth Banks wanted rom-com career

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Banks always wanted to be Julia Roberts.
The ‘Power Rangers’ actress joked her “timing was terrible” when it came to launching her movie career, as at a time when she wanted to make romantic comedies, studios were taking a different approach to the light-hearted films they wanted to produce, leading her down a different path.
She said: “I actually wanted to be Julia Roberts, and then they stopped making romantic comedies. My timing was terrible.
“I came into this business and everyone was like, ‘We’re gonna make bromances now!’ and then every movie suddenly stars Jason Segel and Paul Rudd.
“But then we had the whole rise of some really interesting non-traditional women in comedy, women like Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schumer, and I’m so happy for all of that.
“And I have a lovely life. I’m not complaining. But I do feel like all planning goes out the window.
“Actually, I think that’s probably why I produce and direct, because I really felt like the opportunities for me – especially compared to my male peers – were so limited and uninteresting.”
When it came to deciding to pursue a career in movies, Elizabeth was hugely inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s modern take on ‘Romeo + Juliet’.
She explained to Total Film magazine: “The movie that made me really throw myself into acting was Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Romeo + Juliet’. Claire Danes and Leo DiCaprio. I’d never really felt jealous of anyone until I saw that movie. I’m not by nature a jealous person. I think envy is ugly.
“But it was like, wow, I want to be that. I want to do Shakespeare and make it modern and cool and have the music and go through all that. I just loved it.
“I was a big theatre nerd at the time, I went to drama school and I was all wrapped up in stage work and wanting to do Tennessee Williams – but I watched that movie and I realised what the power of film was.”

Riz Ahmed was told by teachers to become a lawyer

OHMYGOSSIP — Riz Ahmed was told to become a lawyer when he was at school because he was a “loud mouth”.
The 34-year-old actor excelled academically at school and after winning a scholarship to public school Merchant Taylors in north London he went on to study philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University.
Ahmed admits a lot of his education mentors wanted him to pursue a legal career and become a lawyer but he never wanted to take a “desk job” and knew when he was a young man that his future lay in the arts, as his passions were acting and music.
In an interview with The I Paper, he said: “A lot of teachers told me I should be a barrister. I was a loud mouth, so they thought, ‘You might as well get paid for it. I could not see myself with a desk job.”
Ahmed made the right choice as now at the age of 34 he is one of the most in-demand actors with acclaimed roles in Disney blockbuster ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, drama ‘City of Tiny Lights’ and ‘Una’ – which is based on the play ‘Blackbird’ by David Harrower.
Ahmed credits his role as an assistant to Jake Gyllenhaal’s unscrupulous news videographer in 2014’s ‘Nightcrawler’ for showing the world what he is capable on the big screen.
He said: “I don’t think anyone wants to be reduced to their skin colour, their height or their bra size. People want to be seen as people.”
Ahmed is enjoying being so busy with his career but admits he’s getting used to the new-found attention since he played Bodhi Rook in ‘Rogue One’.
He said: “It’s certainly a new experience for me – to have so much out around the same time. And for it to be seen by so many people because of the scale of some of those projects. I’m more used to having an indie film out every two years.”

Ken Levine says Twilight Zone movie may be scrapped

OHMYGOSSIP — Ken Levine is not sure if his ‘Twilight Zone’ movie will go ahead.
The 50-year-old American video game developer – who created ground-breaking first person action adventure ‘BioShock’ – said his movie project which was first announced last April, is currently “in flux” and that he’s not 100 per cent committed to making it.
At the time Levine admitted he was writing and directing the interactive live-action film and described it as a “side project”.
Speaking at a Q&A at EGX Rezzed in London, when asked about the progress of ‘Twilight Zone’, Levine said: “Right now it’s at the stage where I’m still deciding whether this is something that I want to be doing.”
The movie was to be inspired by the 1983 ‘Twilight Zone: The Movie’ horror which was produced by Steven Spielberg and John Landis as a theatrical version of the original TV series which ran from 1959 and 1964 created by Rod Serling. It was later revived in the 1980s and then again in the early 2000s for short runs.
The original film stars Vic Morrow, Scatman Crothers, Kathleen Quinlan and John Lithgow with Dan Aykroyd and Albert Brooks in the prologue segment.
During his Q&A, Levine also revealed to fans that currently his main focus is the debut game from his new studio Ghost Story Games.
He added: “While we believe our new games will have strong appeal to fans of ‘BioShock’, our new focus allows us to craft experiences where the gameplay is as challenging as the stories.”
According to the studio’s website, its first game will be “a new immersive sci-fi game with RPG elements.”

Beyonce for The Lion King?

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce is the preferred choice to play Nala in the live-action remake of ‘The Lion King’.
Director Jon Favreau is reportedly keen to secure the ‘Formation’ singer for the role in the upcoming movie and the team are happy to fit the voiceover part around Beyonce’s schedule and the impending arrival of her twins.
Whilst sources confirmed to Variety that nothing has been finalised yet, Favreau and the team are said to be willing to do anything to secure Beyonce for the part.
Meanwhile, Donald Glover was recently cast as Simba in ‘The Lion King’ remake.
Sharing a picture of Donald on Twitter, Jon wrote: “I just can’t wait to be king. #Simba. (sic)”
He also revealed that James Earl Jones will once again voice Simba’s father Mufasa.
He posted a picture of James and added: “Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa. (sic)”
Last year, Disney confirmed the live-action reboot would be taking place with the guidance of Jon, who helmed the 2016 remake of ‘The Jungle Book’.
In a tweet, he wrote: “Excited for my next project.”
Back in February, Disney revealed the movie is on the “fast-track to production” and the classic tunes from the film including ‘Circle of Life’, ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Be King’, ‘Be Prepared’, ‘Hakuna Matata’ and ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’, which were written by Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice, will no doubt form part of the movie too.
Disney has released a string of live-action remakes as of late including ‘Maleficent’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’.”
