Sam Mendes to direct My Favourite Thing Is Monsters?

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Mendes is in talks to direct ‘My Favourite Thing Is Monsters’.
The 51-year-old director is reportedly in the early stages of discussions to develop the project through his Neal Street banner and will potentially sit in the director’s chair for the upcoming adaptation of the critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, according to Deadline.com
‘My Favourite Thing Is Monsters’ was written by Emil Ferris and is set in 1960s Chicago. The story takes the form of a fiction graphic diary of a 10-year-old girl named Karen Reyes, who is trying to solve the murder of her enigmatic upstairs neighbour, Anka Silverberg, a holocaust survivor, while the interconnected stories of those around her unfold.
Rights to the movie adaptation were secured by Sony Pictures last week, and if Mendes closes his deal he will be producing alongside Amasia Entertainment’s Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant, with Palak Patel is overseeing for Columbia Pictures.
Meanwhile Mendes – who was previously known for directing James Bond movies ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Spectre’ – revealed last year he would not be taking on any more Bond instalments as he wants to try something new.
He said: “It was an incredible adventure, I loved every second of it. But I think it’s time for somebody else. I’m a storyteller. And at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters.
“I can guarantee whatever happens with it, it will not be what you expect. That’s what she [producer Barbara Broccoli] has been brilliant at, and that’s how it’ll survive.”
He added that he hopes his successor will come from an “unexpected direction”.
As of yet, no further details about ‘My Favourite Thing Is Monsters’ have been released.

Selena Gomez admits to being frightened by 'cult following'

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez was frightened to star in the movie adaptation of ‘Thirteen Reasons Why’ because of the book’s “cult following”.
The 24-year-old actress serves as an executive producer on the TV series based on the novel by Jay Asher and Selena – who was originally attached to star as Hannah in a film adaptation of the book – admitted she couldn’t face the pressure of making the movie back in 2011.
She shared: “A book is frightening for me because I know the cult following it has, which is the reason why I didn’t want to be in it. Originally, my mom and I found the project because I wanted it to be a transition piece.
“From that point on, a lot of people wanted to make it something that it wasn’t. It can teeter on the line of being a little too preachy.”
However, Selena was still eager to be involved with an on-screen adaptation of the book – which eventually led her to become an executive producer on the TV series.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Jay knew that my mom [executive producer Mandy Teefey] and I would be behind it for years, no matter how long it took to take it to that place.”
Meanwhile, Selena recently claimed that her youthful looks have stunted her acting career.
The brunette beauty is one of the most recognisable women in the world – but Selena thinks her innocent appearance makes it tough for her to secure more mature on-screen roles.
She shared: “I could do any tomboy/teen princess movie in the world if I wanted to. I could do those for years. But I want to be a part of projects that have value, that really matter. And it’s really hard to do that.
“Sometimes I feel defeated. I’ll audition for a part that I feel very passionate about, meet with people, tell them I’m willing to go places. I think they think I won’t go there.”

Louise Thompson will get baby 'test run' from Binky Felstead

OHMYGOSSIP — Louise Thompson has admitted Binky Felstead’s baby is a “test run” for her.
The 27-year-old beauty is keen to start a family with her boyfriend Ryan Libbey so is looking forward to being on hand to help out her friend and ‘Made in Chelsea’ co-star when she and partner Josh ‘JP’ Patterson welcome their daughter into the world later this year.
Louise admitted: “We talk about it a lot. Binky’s baby will be a test run. I’ll look after her lots.
“I’d better be a godparent.
“I have to admit [Binky’s pregnancy] made me think about it a lot.”
And Ryan, 26, admitted he thinks they are ready for a family because they have a “secure and loving relationship”.
But while Binky and JP may be having a baby first, Louise believes she and Ryan will beat them down the aisle.
She said: “It will probably be us first. They won’t get married for a while.”
The couple – who are “about to move in together” – have been smitten with one another since they first met, even though the brunette beauty was dating someone else at the time.
She recalled: “I shouldn’t say this because I was with someone else at the time but Ryan and I did really fancy each other [when we first met].
“I took him for dinner and we realised we were more than just friends.
“I went to his house and he lunged at me when I was sat on the kitchen counter.”
But fitness coach Ryan is still struggling to get to grips with life in the spotlight.
He told LOOK magazine: “The way [our relationship has] been portrayed isn’t fair. We’re very happy and it’s just a shame people think I’m insecure.”
However, Louise is more understanding of the pitfalls of dating in the public eye.
She said: “I’m more immune now because I always think it can never be as bad as it was three years ago when I had a lot on my plate and I was dating some horrible people.
“I like that Ryan is protective – it shows he cares.”

‘Disney on Ice’ is celebrating 100 years of magic and pulled out all the stops to please audience members young and old with spectacular routines set to a selection of songs from some of the Mouse House’s most popular productions at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

While younger members of the audience particularly enjoyed the newer tales, in particular the spectacular ‘Frozen’ sequence, older members of the crowd relished the dramatic military formation in the ‘Mulan’ performance, the 20 genies who featured in an ‘Aladdin’ routine and the romantic ‘Beauty and the Beast’ dance, which led into a performance from some of Disny’s other princesses – including Jasmine, Ariel, and Rapunzel – and their partners.

Melanie Sykes to voice Blind Date

OHMYGOSSIP — Melanie Sykes will provide the voiceover on the revamped ‘Blind Date’.
The 46-year-old television presenter has bagged the role – previously held by Graham Skidmore, who was known affectionately by the nation as “Our Graham” – alongside new host Paul O’Grady when the dating show hits television screens this summer.
She said: “It’s an honour to be joining such an iconic show and to be working alongside my dear friend Paul. I can’t wait to help a new generation find love on the show.”
The brunette beauty took to Twitter on Tuesday (04.04.17) to share a photograph of herself recording in a sound-proof booth and to make the announcement.
She wrote: “Omg peeps! I am so excited to say I am going to be the new voice of ‘our graham’ on Blind Date’ with the brilliant Paul O’grady classic childhood telly this is me at rehearsals yesterday @channel5_tv co writing with @robcromwell (sic).”
Melanie’s signing comes just weeks after Paul was announced as the person to take over from his late friend Cilla Black, who fronted the show for 18 years, as the host.
The classic game show was fronted by Cilla for almost two decades from 1985 until 2003 and, although a reboot has been in the pipeline for some time, she tragically passed away in 2015 following a fatal fall at her Spanish home.
A source previously revealed: “‘Blind Date’ is the original dating show and it’s huge news to bring it back.
“It’s a classic format that will be rebooted to make it young, sexy and modern. Expect sparks to fly. In an age of Tinder, you have got to earn the right to love on this show.”
Bosses are keen to keep some of the “traditional” elements of the previous run but have decided to give it an updated twist to appeal to a “new generation of viewers”.
It’s expected to run on Friday nights – rather than its traditional Saturday night slot – and will consist of six to eight episodes per series for the first few installments.
The programme sees three singletons grilled by a member of the opposite sex in order to find the perfect match without being able to see them. The new couple then pick an envelope with their holiday destination – abroad or in the UK – inside and will spend the next week trying to get to know one another.
Channel 5 have bought the rights to the dating show but they will have some stiff competition from ITV as it has ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Meet The Parents’.
‘Blind Date’ proved a hit with viewers for years but the plug was pulled in 2003 when Cilla announced she was quitting during a live episode following a drop in ratings.

Samantha Faiers will never return to TOWIE

OHMYGOSSIP — Samantha Faiers is adamant she’ll “never” return to ‘The Only Way is Essex’.
The 26-year-old reality TV star may have made a name for herself on the popular show after starring on it for four years but she has admitted she won’t be tempted to return following her departure in 2014 because she’s in a “different place” now.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “I don’t think I’d ever go back.
“People ask me that question all the time and I don’t mean offence by it at all cause cast members might get offended but I’m in such a different place in my life.”
Following her exit three years ago, Sam has had a baby – 15-month-old son Paul – and has her own TV series ‘The Mummy Diaries’ with her partner Paul Knightley.
She explained to the publication: “I’ve got a baby and I’m filming my own series and I always look forward. I’m in such a different place now.”
And, although she’s no longer on the programme, Sam hasn’t let her exit stop her dreams and aspirations as she was talking about moving to the US with her family.
However, the plans fell through and they moved to Hertfordshire because they desperately wanted to disassociate herself with her childhood town, Essex.
A source said recently: “Samantha made changes to her management team in January and relocating out of Essex is all part of a wider plan to re-position her brand.
“She has sold her house and is relocating out of Essex for good.”

Linda Nolan makes bucket list as she deals with cancer diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Nolan has made a bucket list of things she wants to do now she’s been diagnosed with incurable cancer.
The former Nolans singer discovered she had secondary breast cancer after doctors found a cyst on her pelvis when she fell up the stairs and broke her hip in March.
Linda’s prognosis is positive and she has been told she could live with the illness for 10 or 15 years so she has started planning things she wants to do before she dies, and top of that list is to visit Lapland with her great-nieces and nephews.
Giving a joint interview with her young sister Coleen Nolan on ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (04.04.17), Linda said: “They’ve told me it’s not curable but it is treatable. I’m not going to let it take me, I’m going to fight it every step of the way because there are so many things that I want to do. They sound like trivial things, but I’ve never flown first class, I’d like to do that. In a way this diagnosis has made me think that I’ve got the opportunity now to do the things that I want to do, because I don’t know how long I’m going to be here; although my prognosis is good I could be here for 10 or 15 years. But I’ve been given the opportunity now to say, ‘I want to do that.’ I want to take my great-nieces and nephews to Lapland and see Father Christmas with them.”
Linda, 58, revealed it was one of her nieces, seven-year-old Ava, who was with her when she fell at her home and the quick-thinking youngster was responsible for getting her aunt help.
Calling Ava to sit with her and 52-year-old Coleen in front of the cameras, Linda shared: “My niece Ava, she’s seven, was the one who was with me when I fell down the stairs and she took control otherwise I would have been stuck overnight. She took control and got Auntie Linda’s phone and opened the door so my sisters could come in and then she held me up until they could get there. So Ava is the hero of the day!”
Former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star Linda will find out later this week the full extent of her cancer and she will then begin treatment.
She said: “I had a bone biopsy last week and I’ve been given the preliminary results, which is what we knew really, that it is secondary breast cancer. I’m now waiting until Thursday when the rest of the results will be in which will tell me what grade it is, what size the tumour is. Then I’m going to have injections into my bones to strengthen my bones and then I’ll have a blast of radiotherapy then intravenous drugs to fight the cancer, I don’t have to have chemo this time, which is a big relief. It’s very daunting. I am absolutely devastated. I was devastated because I feel so bad for my family having to go through it all again. They’ve been amazing, everybody has. I’ve had so many messages and cards from the public and I have to say thank you because it really does help.”

“I think it’s super exciting. The tone of Joss’ work is great for female superheroes. He takes such a fun approach and I think he’ll have fun in the DC universe, which will be excited to have him.”
However, Jenkins is still unsure whether Whedon has confirmed he will be helming the creative process of the movie.

I’m excited to see each one of these films.”

The 55-year-old presenter was reunited with his former ‘Going Live!’ co-host Sarah Greene on ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (04.04.17) for the first time in 24 years when she stood in for his regular sofa partner Holly Willoughby who was still off sick.
To complete the ‘Going Live!’ reunion Phillip revealed that he’s also been reunited with his squeaky voiced sidekick Gordon after he found him living in a box under his stairs.
Speaking about the reunion, he spilled: “I went under the stairs and I hadn’t been down there for ages and I found an old wicker basket opened it up and do you know what I found in there? I found the original Gordon the Gopher. That is the very original, look it’s naked!”

Sarah, who presented ‘Going Live!’ alongside Phillip between 1987 and 1993, said: “Go and put your clothes on Gordon!”
Phillip and Sarah opened ‘This Morning’ with the introduction to ‘Going Live!’ and then the 58-year-old blonde said: “Are you in a time warp? I’m in a time warp but what’s weird is Phil, it doesn’t feel weird.”
Phillip then replied: “No it doesn’t. I just looked down and [my hair] is a different colour but you look exactly the same.”
The nostalgia feel of the unique ‘This Morning’ episode got fans very excited with one even launching a Change.org petition to bring back Gordon the Gopher for an on-screen reunion.
And the ‘Going Live!’ reunion was further complete when Trevor Neal – one half of the Saturday morning kids’ show’s comedy duo Trevor and Simon – phoned in for a catch up with Phillip and Sarah.
‘Going Live!’ celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and Sarah had admitted she like to do a full episode with everyone involved to celebrate the landmark date.
Speaking to Best magazine, she said: “We could host a ‘This Morning’/’Going Live!’ mash-up to celebrate! Break Gordon the Gopher out of rehab, bring back Trevor and Simon. It’d be hilarious to co-host with Phillip. We’re still good friends.”

Phillip Schofield and Sarah Greene reunite for first time in 24 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield and Sarah Greene have reunited for the first time in 24 years to present ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (04.04.17) after Holly Willoughby called in sick.
The pair previously hosted ‘Going Live!’ – a children’s weekend show – together for six years almost two-and-a-half decades ago but proved they still very much have their on-screen chemistry, despite the time that has passed, when the blonde beauty stepped in to replace Phillip’s regular co-host after she was struck down with a sickness bug.
Introducing the show this morning, Sarah said as she took prime position next to the silver fox: “I’m in a time warp. What’s weird is it doesn’t feel weird!”
Phillip added: “You look exactly the same!”
He then explained where his regular co-host is: “Holly is not well.
“There is a bug in the Willoughby-Baldwin household, and Belle [her daughter] is ill again. So she’s not well and also having to cope with poorly children as well.”
Prior to the show, Phillip teased that Sarah would be joining him on the programme.
He tweeted: “Well nostalgia fans, as poor @hollywills is still not well … we’re ‘Going Live’ on @thismorning with my co-host for the day. (sic)”
Holly’s unexpected illness threw the show into chaos yesterday (03.04.17) when Rylan Clark-Neal – who presents the showbiz segment on the brunchtime series – stepped in for her at the last minute so that Phillip wasn’t hosting the entire programme alone.
Phillip said at the time: “Holly’s not well today so I’ve be given the most unlikely partner. I can’t wait for this. They said Rylan was coming in and I said I’d do it on my own.”

Poldark to return to screens in June

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Poldark’ will return to television screens in two months’ time.
The second installment of the the popular drama, based on the novels of Winston Graham, only wrapped up in the autumn last year but bosses have wasted no time shooting the third installment as the next batch of episodes will drop in June.
A representative for the show told the Radio Times Online: “The earlier filming schedule on this series means that we can bring the much anticipated third series back sooner for fans to Sunday nights in June.”
Although the BBC show’s debut pulled in an impressive amount of viewers, the second installment didn’t do so well because it went up against ITV’s ‘Victoria’.
Earlier this year, Eleanor Tomlinson – who plays Ross Poldark’s (Aidan Turner) wife Demelza in the drama series – said it was a “real shame” the two shows clashed.
She said at the time: “I think it’s a real shame that they came out at the same time. It doesn’t make any sense to me! I think it did split the audience. At the end we were equal and that’s really good. I think ‘Poldark’ pulled through.”
The BBC confirmed at the end of last year that Aidan Turner – who portrays troubled protagonist Ross Poldark in the drama – will return for the third series.
It’s not yet known if any more series are in the pipeline as of yet but the 33-year-old actor previously revealed he would love to bring to life all 12 novels Winston penned from 1945 until 2002 to the small screen.
He said at the time: “It’s about six seasons’ worth! I’m up for six, if we make it that far.”

Ben Caplan to break into US

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Caplan is desperate to carve out a career in the US.
The 42-year-old actor announced last week that he was planning to quit ‘Call the Midwife’ – a show he’s starred in since 2012 – in order to try other ventures but it seems his dreams and aspirations extend further than just in his native country.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “I’m looking to explore more ventures. Because I’ve been working over here solidly, I’ve not really been available to go over there. I’ll pop over to LA at some point and have some meetings.
“I’m watching so many good things on Netflix and Amazon. The quality is so exciting I would love to see if there might be opportunities for me.”
Hearts broke around the country when Ben confirmed he was stepping down as PC Peter Noakes, who is married to Miranda Hart’s Camilla ‘Chummy’ Fortescue-Cholmeley-Browne, in the period drama because he wanted to try new things.
He said: “I’m taking a break to concentrate on other things … It’s been lovely to have been there since the beginning, an amazing roller coaster ride, and I’m honoured to have been part of the whole journey, but there comes a point six years down the line that, as an actor, it’s good to keep my foot in with the theatre world and exploring other roles.
“Much as I love playing Peter Noakes, it’s great to go off and play some more edgy characters and show a little bit more diversity.”
Despite leaving the show, Ben teased that bosses have left the door open for him and Miranda, who was written out of the fourth series, to return.
He explained: “The door is very much open for both myself and Miranda and I’m sure we’ll make an appearance again.”

Scarlett pens book

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt is planning to release another book.
The 26-year-old reality TV star has been in high demand since she was crowned queen of the jungle on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Outta Here!’ last year and now publishers have got in touch with her about penning her second book documenting her rise to fame since she left her show ‘Gogglebox’ in order to do her outback stint.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Scarlett has been in talks with several publishers to write a new book. She knows that some of her ideas from her previous book have changed and she want to get them down on paper. It has been a roller coaster few months for Scarlett and she can’t believe how fast things are moving.”
Scarlett is certainly no stranger to writing a book as her debut ‘Scarlett Says’ dropped in April last year and is based on her thoughts on topics including celebrities, dieting and nights out.
Before starring on ‘Gogglebox’, Scarlett got her first taste of TV stardom in 2013 when she appeared on MTV’s ‘Beauty School Cop Outs’.
The show followed a group of British hopefuls trying their hand at being beauticians.
Following her ‘I’m A Celeb…’ win last year, Scarlett bagged a presenting gig on ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ with her idols Ant and Dec after meeting them last year.
However, although her career is now coming together nicely, the brunette beauty is adamant she’s no happier than she was this time last year on ‘Gogglebox’.
Asked if she’s the happiest she’s ever been, she said: “I think I was just as happy last year. The only massive difference is I’m a lot more confident.
“I’ve been given a platform to show people that you can achieve anything.”

Denise Black to return to Coronation Street after a decade away

OHMYGOSSIP — Denise Black is set to make an explosive return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 59-year-old veteran actress hasn’t graced the cobbles for over a decade but viewers are in for a shock over the next coming weeks as she’s confirmed she’ll reprise her role as Denise Osbourne – a part she played for four years – in the soap.
The legendary star set tongues wagging earlier this week when she was spotted full of smiles as she walked onto the set, based in Manchester, with a script in her hand.
Details of her return are being kept tightly under wraps for the time being but it’s thought it will weave nicely into the attempted murder storyline involving Ken Barlow.
The loveable grandfather – portrayed by Bill Roache – was dramatically pushed down the stairs last week in a dramatic whodunnit but, now that Denise’s arrival has been confirmed, viewers are speculating that she may be behind the awful crime.
Denise and Ken certainly have history as they have son Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), who turned up in Weatherfield over the festive season, together.
It’s not yet known how long Denise will will spend in the long-running soap but bosses also approached her in 2007 when her hairdresser alter ego made a brief return.
Denise’s new job comes just weeks after she left rival soap ‘Emmerdale’ as Joanie Wright when she was killed off just months after she destroyed Zak (Steve Halliwell) and Lisa Dingle’s (Jane Cox) relationship by having an affair with the farmer.
