TOWIE crew intervene in Megan Mckenna and Pete Wicks row

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ crew were forced to pull Megan McKenna and Pete Wicks apart during a bitter feud.
The 24-year-old brunette beauty and the tattooed hunk called time on their turbulent relationship last month after one year of dating, and according to The Sun Online the pair were embroiled in a malicious spat on the streets of Essex on Tuesday (04.04.17), which became so explosive the creative team behind the ITVBe production had no choice but to step in.
The former couple were reportedly shouting at one another in public, with Megan getting very close to Pete’s face to further scream at him.
And Pete didn’t hold back from venting his anger either as he is believed to have also raised his voice to his fellow reality TV co-star.
However, the French Bulldog fanatic grabbed Megan’s arm as she turned to walk away from him and their heated discussion, only to see her forlorn face, yet this only triggered another bitter exchange.
Although two members of staff had to separate the 28-year-old lothario and the former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant, the pair continued to spit out foul utterances to one another.
And it is believed claims Pete had cheated on Megan with a woman on a trip to Scotland, and images of him cosied up with Chloe Sims outside of London’s The Mayfair Hotel caused the harsh exchange of words.
Speaking about the row between Megan and Pete – who has previously sent explicit messages to his ex-girlfriend Jacqui Ryland whilst holidaying with his previous partner – a source said: “They immediately started a heated discussion after Megan saw pictures of Pete ‘cosying up to’ Chloe Sims recently.
“Megan called him [Pete] up on the photos and asked what’s going on.
“She said she was amazed Chloe didn’t try to reach out to explain that there’s nothing in it.
“Pete defended Chloe and said nothing had happened and that she hadn’t done anything wrong, but Megan started screaming, ‘Why are you sticking up for her?’
“Megan accused Pete of cheating on her and sleeping with a girl in Scotland and he threw it back in her face, saying ‘I wasn’t cheating but I did text her’.”
However, Pete swiftly spun the argument around and blamed Megan for getting intimate with her ex-boyfriend Jordan Davies.
The source explained: “[Pete replied] ‘And it doesn’t matter because you’re sleeping with your ex!'”

Ricky Wilson wants to return to The Voice UK

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Wilson would happily return to be a judge on ‘The Voice UK’ again if he was asked.
The 39-year-old singer appeared as a critic on the show for three series before leaving the programme last year, and he has admitted he quit the show after winning twice in a row because of the money, although he would happily make a comeback if he was offered the opportunity again.
Speaking about the role on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (05.04.17), the Kaiser Chiefs frontman said: “Well I said that jokingly but it was kind of true.
“I won it twice in a row, don’t forget that folks, but I thought if I did it again ‘What would be the reason for doing it?’
“And the only reason would be money really, and that’s not a good reason.
“Oh God if they came knocking I’d do it again.”
Although the ‘I Predict A Riot’ hitmaker decided to quit the talent contest, he has admitted he loved being a part of the programme and had “the best time” being a part of the series for three years.

The British star is “proud” of his career successes and will not shy away from his fame because he likes being recognised in public by his fans.

EastEnders' Charlie Cotton to return?

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Charlie Cotton is set to make an explosive return.
Viewers were left wondering whether the loveable businessman – portrayed by Declan Bennett – would make a return to Walford to claim his son Matthew following the horrific death of his ex-wife Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) earlier this year and, although four months have passed since she was found dead in a swimming pool on the day she married Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), it looks like Charlie is now about to come back and take his baby son for good.
Tongues began wagging earlier this week when Declan was spotted on set with Jake Wood – who plays Jack’s on-screen brother Max Branning – although details on his return are being kept tightly under wraps for the time being.
Charlie joined the long-running soap in 2014 as the secret grandson of Dot Branning (June Brown) and quickly fell for the blonde bombshell Ronnie.
The pair had a baby together and quickly got married but things started to crumble when Charlie fell in love with the bar owner’s sister Roxy (Rita Simons).
In a bid to continue his relationship with the drug addict, Charlie begged her to help him steal his son Matthew and run away abroad with the pair of them.
However, Roxy swiftly changed her mind and told her sister of his motives.
Charlie then disappeared and viewers were left wondering whether Ronnie had ordered her friend Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood) to kill him.
Ever since Ronnie’s death, Dot has been begging Jack – who is her late husband Jim Branning’s son – to get in touch with Charlie because she feels the youngster deserves to be with his real father now that his mother is dead.

Steven Moffat says 'stop the fuss' over gay Doctor Who companion

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Moffat says everyone should “stop the fuss” over the new companion in ‘Doctor Who’ being gay.
The showrunner in his final year in charge of the BBC One sci-fi show is introducing Bill Potts, played by Pearl Mackie, to the TARDIS and in the first episode of the new series it is revealed that the plucky character is a lesbian.
Moffat was surprised by the attention Pearl’s revelation that her alter ego is openly homosexual garnered and insists it isn’t a big deal in the world of ‘Doctor Who’ as there have been lots of gay characters introduced since it came back to TV screens in 2005, such as bisexual time traveller Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and inter-species lesbian couple Silurian detective Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) and Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart).
Speaking at a Q&A to launch Series 10 in London on Tuesday night (04.04.17), he said: “It’s not that rare in ‘Doctor Who’, we had Captain Jack, who marries practically everybody then we had Madame Vastra and Jenny so this is absolutely normal for us. To be absolutely honest Pearl and I and everybody didn’t know it was going to be a big deal. When Pearl did that interview where she happened to mention it we didn’t know there was going to be all that fuss. In a way there kind of shouldn’t be, that’s nonsense. To be clear, we are not expecting any kind of round of applause or a pat on the back for that. That’s the minimal amount of representation you should have on television and the appropriate response should be, ‘What took you so long?’ The fuss stops now, stop the fuss.”
Moffat, 55, also believes it’s important to not make such a big deal out of the fact that Bill is gay because any children and young people watching who could be working out their own sexuality should be reassured by programmes like ‘Doctor Who’ that’s OK to be homosexual.
He added: “It’s important that we don’t make a fuss about this in a children’s show which talks directly to them. We don’t young children who are boring and normal and happen to fancy their own gender we don’t want to make them feel as though they’re some kind of special case because that’s frightening.”
‘Doctor Who’ – also starring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor and Matt Lucas as Nardole – returns to BBC One on Saturday April 15 with ‘The Pilot’.

Candice Brown's Easter baking memories

OHMYGOSSIP — Candice Brown used to love baking with her nan at Easter.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner’s beloved family member was always her biggest “inspiration” in the kitchen and she has particularly fond memories of cooking with her at this time of year.
Candice has teamed up with Now TV to create some new twists on the traditional favourite Hot Cross Buns to create an exclusive line of Tot Cross Buns, inspired by popular kids TV shows ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’, ‘Be Cool, Scooby Do’, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and the ‘Powerpuff Girls’.

“Easter always makes me think of my Nan as it was the time we cooked together and sat down for a family meal. She was my inspiration for getting into baking – she did everything by hand – and I wanted to show just how easy it is to make my delicious Tot Cross Buns yourself at home.”
The buns include a tropical ‘Bun-der-the-sea’ ‘SpongeBob’-inspired treat, which features pineapple and is decorated with a blue cross and edible pink starish, a chocolate, fudge and caramel-centred Mystery Bun in honour of doggy detective Scooby and a pepperoni pizza-flavoured treat, which incorporates the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ favourite food.

Kym Marsh gets identity stolen

OHMYGOSSIP — A man thought he’d been in a relationship with Kym Marsh for “10 years” after she had her identity stolen and used on a dating website without her knowing.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has portrayed Michelle McDonald in the long-running soap since 2007 – couldn’t believe it when she found out someone had been using her photographs and catfishing – a term used to describe someone who pretends to be someone they’re not – people via online romancing sites.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Wednesday (05.04.17), she said: “I knew there were fake profiles of me on social media – to a certain extent you expect it a little bit.
“But this one particular day I came home to a bunch of flowers on the doorstep of my home with a card that said ‘Sorry you couldn’t make the date, hope you’re better soon’ with kisses and no name. And obviously my boyfriend was a bit like, ‘What’s this about? The police did find out who it was, they contacted the guy and he thought he’d been having a relationship with me for the last ten years. He said that originally they’d been talking over social media and then this person [the catfish] had been texting and stuff as well and claiming to be me. They wouldn’t give me that information [whether the catfish was a woman]. It was really creepy… to have somebody at your home.”
However, the 40-year-old actress isn’t the only one who has been targeted by manipulative impersonators as she has admitted her family have also been targeted.
She explained: “Someone had claimed to been my niece and said that my actual niece had died of cancer. It also affects my family too.”
Someone even pretended to be Kym’s 20-year-old daughter Emily, whom she has with her ex-partner Dave Cunliffe, and signed her up to bisexual dating websites.
She said: “Since Emily has been about 14/15, there has been fake profiles made about her. We kept reporting it and it kept being taken off and another would put back up. One profile claimed she was bisexual and wanted to meet girls. She was getting really distressed about it because things were being said about her that’s not true.”

Tobey Maguire gets directing bug

OHMYGOSSIP — Tobey Maguire is in talks to make his directorial debut on the long-awaited film adaptation of Jo Nesbo’s ‘Blood on Snow’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old actor – who voices a character in new animation ‘The Boss Baby’ – is to step behind the camera for the first time on the film, which is inspired by the novella.
This development has been sitting on the shelf for years after rumours that Leonardo DiCaprio was interested in the adaptation of the 2013 book. However, the project fell through due to a scheduling conflict.
Now Tobey’s production company Material Pictures and Lawrence Grey’s Grey Matter Productions have taken up the rights and it is rumoured they are developing the idea.
Grey Matter’s Ben Everard along with Jo’s own agent Niclas Salomonsson will be executive producers of the movie.
As well, ‘Blood on Snow’ author Jo is also penning the screenplay for the anticipated adaptation.
‘The Great Gatsby’ actor is supposedly going to use the adaptation as his directorial debut following the footsteps of other actors who have been bitten by the directing bug including Ben Affleck and Mel Gibson.
Tobey is also producing Robin Bissell’s civil rights drama ‘The Best of Enemies’ starring Taraji P. Henson.
‘Blood on Snow’ follows Olav, a hit man who kills people for his employer who is one of Norway’s powerful crime bosses.
However, when he is asked to kill his employers own wife, Olav’s life gets tangled when he ends up falling for her.
The book is the first in a trilogy written by Jo and ‘Blood on Snow’ is not the only adaptation by the author coming with ‘The Snowman’ starring Michael Fassbender to be released in October.

Tom Cruise to star in Mission: Impossible 6 with Frederick Schmidt

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise is to star in ‘Mission: Impossible – 6’ with ‘Supergirl’ star Frederick Schmidt.
The actor has been announced as the latest cast member of the action franchise with director Christopher McQuarrie returning to the film as well.
McQuarrie is producing alongside Tom, Frederick, Don Granger, J.J. Abrams and David Ellison and Dana Goldberg from Skydance Productions.
Speaking about the project, Ellison said: “What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable – he’s been training for a year. It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom has done in a movie and he has been working on it since right after ‘Rogue Nation’ came out. It’s gonna be mind-blowing.”
However, Jeremy Renner will not be reprising his role as IMF Field Operations Director William Brandt due to a scheduling clash with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, in which he will be playing Hawkeye again.
The 46-year-old actor – who was in 2015’s ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’, the fifth in the franchise – had been in talks about a return, but a scheduling conflict with the Marvel Cinematic Universe film means he cannot return to the role of William Brandt.
Big screen Superman Henry Cavill has also been added to the star-studded cast for ‘Mission: Impossible – 6’.
Cavill’s appearance in the movie was revealed during an Instagram exchange shared by director McQuarrie.
The 48-year-old filmmaker posted a photo of himself standing on some rocks with the caption: “Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure. (sic)”
Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin and Sean Harris are all returning for the next instalment of the franchise.
The film is scheduled for release in July 2018.

Matt Lucas admits starring in Doctor Who was 'emotional' for him

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Lucas admits starring in ‘Doctor Who’ was an “emotional” experience for him because he and his late former partner were both huge fans of the show.
The 43-year-old comic actor is returning to the BBC sci-fi series as alien companion Nardole after making his first appearance in the 2015 Christmas special ‘The Husbands of River Song’.
Matt always wanted a role in the programme but was reluctant to pursue a part for many years because the memories of him and Kevin McGee – who tragically took his own life in 2009 – watching the programme together were in his thoughts.
Speaking at a screening of the upcoming first episode of the new series ‘The Pilot’ in London on Tuesday night (04.04.17), he said: “After the Christmas episode I was quite pushy and I kept ringing Steven Moffat and would say, ‘I’m very happy to come back.’ It had taken me a while to be in it. I wanted to be in the show for a while but had been a bit nervous about being in the show, partly because I’m a fan and partly because my late partner was a huge fan of it, so it was a bit of an emotional thing for me and I needed to be ready and enough time had passed for me to say, ‘OK, I’m ready to do this.’ Then once I was ready then I wanted to be in it more because I’d had such fun in ‘The Husbands of River Song’. I hope I haven’t spoiled it for too many people.”
Matt and Kevin made a commitment to one another in a civil partnership in December 2006 at a ceremony which was celebrated by a host of celebrity guests including Dame Barbara Windsor, Sir Elton John, ‘EastEnders’ actor Steve McFadden and Matt’s ‘Little Britain’ co-star David Walliams.
Their civil partnership was eventually dissolved through the High Court in 2008 bringing an end to their six-year relationship.
Matt’s decision to wait to try for a role in ‘Doctor Who’ did mean that he got to work with one of his favourite actors, Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi.
The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ star said: “It’s just great to be in it and it’s just great to work with Peter. It sounds like a bit of a love-in but I have long been a fan of Peter’s work, we were in ‘Paddington’ together and we were in the same scene but we didn’t have any interaction with each other but I was very excited just to be in the same space as him.”
Matt and Peter are joined in the TARDIS for Series 10 by Pearl Mackie, who plays new companion Bill Potts, and their adventures kick off on BBC One on Saturday April 15.

Emmerdale's abuse storyline to get darker

OHMYGOSSIP — Emmerdale’s boss has teased that the abusive storyline involving Pierce Harris and Rhona Goskirk will run right up until the end of the year and will turn even more “dark”.
Viewers were hoping that the manipulative businessman – portrayed by Jonathan Wrather – would be exposed now that Rhona’s best friend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) knows what he’s been doing to the loveable vet (Zoe Henry) behind closed doors, but it seems the end isn’t in sight any time soon for the poor brunette beauty
Speaking to the RadioTimes.com, Iain MacLeod said: “Rhona and Pierce will continue to escalate and deteriorate. His behaviour gets more and more dark and manipulative. And there’s a really huge story for them that will run right up to the end of the year.”
Although bosses are remaining tight lipped on how the truth will come out, Iain previously teased that the abuse will become so aggressive that viewers may actually find it “uncomfortable” to watch, sparking rumours that it’ll end with a dramatic death.
He said: “What I’ve loved about it so far is that as soon as people saw Pierce getting together with Rhona so quickly, they started to suspect there was something not quite right about him. We’ve taken our time and let that story develop slowly and it reaches a kind of peak in April-May time, I think. It doesn’t come to an end there but there’s a big story explosion. The episodes are heart-stoppingly dramatic, quite a tough watch but an unbelievably big talking point heading into the summer.”

The 65-year-old American actor, producer-director, who received an Oscar nomination for his role in 2014’s ‘Birdman’, is said to be involved in negotiations to join Eva Green and Danny DeVito alongside Colin Farrell.
Keaton is expected to take up the role of the man who acquires the circus from DeVito’s character and who goes on to exploit the elephant and his mother, Variety reports.
Should Keaton sign the deal, it will see him reunite with director Tim Burton for the first time since they worked together on 1992’s ‘Batman Returns’ and there’s also talk of a ‘Beetlejuice’ sequel.
‘Dumbo’ is one of the classic Disney films which tells the story of a ostracised baby circus elephant who strives to prove his worth after he is mocked for having big ears.
For the live-action adaptation, Ehren Kruger has written the script and Kruger is also producing alongside ‘Tron: Legacy’s’ Justin Springer.
This project joins Disney’s ever growing franchise of live-action reboots which has seen ‘Maleficent’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘The Jungle Book’ and most recently, the box office smash ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Among the other remakes being lined up include ‘The Lion King’, ‘Mulan’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to write Invincible

OHMYGOSSIP — Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are attached to write a movie adaptation of ‘Invincible’.
The 34-year-old Canadian-American actor and the ‘Sausage Party’ director have been brought on board the adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic book in order to bring the tale to the big screen for Universal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rogen and Goldberg will write, direct and produce alongside Kirkman, who is also producing under his Skybound Entertainment with colleagues David Alpert and Bryan and Sean Furst. In addition, James Weaver will also produce under Rogen and Goldberg’s Point Grey.
In a an official statement, ‘Walking Dead’ creator Kirkman said: “For nearly a decade I’ve had to endure the ‘What about Invincible?’ question as fans have watched The Walking Dead grow into the multimedia monstrosity it has become over the years. The answer was always that we were waiting for the right team to partner with. That team has arrived! The esteemed misters Goldberg and Rogen have proven themselves to be top-notch directors with a keen collective eye for stunning visuals after slumming it by writing hit after juggernaut hit.”
The popular comic book, first published back in 2003, is on its 133rd issue. It follows the journey of a school boy called Mark Grayson whose father has superhero powers as hero Omni-Man which are then passed on to him so that he can try and save the world.
Ryan Ottley and Cory Walker also helped create the comic, which has gone on to become the second-longest running title after ‘The Walking Dead’.
Kirkman is confident the upcoming film will be a hit, he said: “Invincible’s surprising, edgy, shocking, and oftentimes blood-soaked story couldn’t be in more capable hands. With the team of Rogen, Goldberg and Universal, I’m very confident this will be another superhero movie, in a long line of superhero movies that continues to prove that it’s a viable, thrilling genre that will keep people coming to the cinema for years to come.”
Meanwhile Rogen and Goldberg released a joint statement, declaring their commitment to making the project a success. It read: “No matter how much damage it causes our bodies, minds, and our most intimate relationships with those we love, we will not rest until Invincible is as great a movie as it deserves to be.”
The project will see Rogen and Goldberg reunite once again – having made their debut as a directing duo back in 2013 when they both worked on ‘This Is the End’ and ‘The Interview’.
They are also co-writing and directing Garth Ennis-Steve Dillon comic ‘The Preacher’ whilst serving as executive producers on the show which returns in June on AMC.
Also in the pipeline is ‘Future Man ‘ – a comedy series for Hulu.

Scarlett Moffatt to do Strictly Come Dancing?

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Walsh has begged his television friend Scarlett Moffatt to do the next series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Chase’ host thinks the brunette beauty – who was crowned queen of the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ jungle last year – has the chance of swiping the glitterball trophy because she admitted during last night’s (04.04.17) episode of ‘Blow the Whistle’ that she has at least “600” dance accolades in her attic from when she was younger.
Bradley said: “Good for you, girl – you’ve got to go on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ now. Scarlett, you’ve got to go on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ now if you’ve done ballroom. 600 trophies? You’ve got to go on it!”
But comedian Romesh Ranganathan was quick to point out that celebrities who have competed in dance before aren’t allowed to take part in the ballroom and latin show because it puts her at an advantage over the rest of the contestants.
He jumped in: “It’s supposed to be for people who can’t do it. She can’t turn up with 600 trophies in the cabinet. We’ve got Scarlett the professional dancer, let’s see if she’s any good!”
Although she’s got experience under her belt, bosses are no doubt trying to snap her up anyway because she proved a huge hit with viewers when she agreed to do a three-week stint in the Australian outback at the end of last year.
Since being crowned the winner of the jungle, the 26-year-old reality TV star has seen her career go from strength-to-strength as she’s now bagged a presenting gig on ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ with her idols Ant and Dec.
However, although her career is now coming together nicely, the brunette beauty is adamant she’s no happier than she was this time last year on ‘Gogglebox’.
Asked if she’s the happiest she’s ever been, she said: “I think I was just as happy last year. The only massive difference is I’m a lot more confident.
“I’ve been given a platform to show people that you can achieve anything.”

Holly Willoughby returns to This Morning

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby is set to return to ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (05.04.17).
The 36-year-old presenter was forced to take two days off from the brunchtime show this week after she was struck down with a sickness bug, but she has assured fans she’s “feeling much better” and will rejoin her co-host Phillip Schofield today.
Taking to her Twitter account this morning, the blonde beauty thanked fans for their feedback on her pre-recorded show ‘Blow the Whistle’ last night (04.04.17) and told them that she will be back in the ‘This Morning’ studio to present with the silver fox.
She said: “Thank you for all your lovely messages, I’m feeling much better and will be at This Morning (sic).”
Holly’s unexpected illness threw the show into chaos on Monday (03.04.17) when she rang in at the last minute to tell bosses she wasn’t well enough to present.
Rylan Clark-Neal – who usually presents the showbiz segment on the programme – stepped in just before they went on air so Phillip wasn’t doing the show by himself.
Phillip said: “Holly’s not well today so I’ve be given the most unlikely partner. I can’t wait for this. They said Rylan was coming in and I said I’d do it on my own.”
Luckily bosses were given a bit more time to find a temporary host yesterday and the show saw Phillip reunited with Sarah Greene for the first time in 24 years.
The pair previously hosted ‘Going Live!’ – a children’s weekend show – together for six years almost two-and-a-half decades ago.
Phillip said on the show: “Holly is not well.
“There is a bug in the Willoughby-Baldwin household, and Belle [her daughter] is ill again. So she’s not well and also having to cope with poorly children as well.”

Freddie Flintoff to host Cannonball

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Flintoff is set to host ITV’s new game show ‘Cannonball’.
The 39-year-old former England cricketer is no stranger to the camera having appeared on panel show ‘A League Of Their Own’ since its conception in 2010, and it has now been reported the sports star will step up to host the wacky water-based game show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “ITV bosses were chuffed to get Freddie on board. He’s hugely popular with everyday people and he comes across well on telly, as has been seen on ‘A League Of Their Own’ and his other media work. As an ex-sportsman who played at the top of his game, he knows about being competitive too, which will hopefully rub off on the contestants.”
News of the new challenge show was first announced in February, when it was reported that bosses at the popular broadcaster were looking to emulate the success of their current physicality-based challenge show ‘Ninja Warrior UK’ and rival broadcaster BBC’s bonkers ‘Total Wipeout’ – which was axed in 2013 – by commissioning the new programme.
‘Cannonball’ will see contestants compete in a variety of water-based tasks, and will include entertaining challenges such as attempting the highest and longest jumps possible from water slides whilst wearing fancy dress.
It was also reported that the programme will be filmed in the warmer climate of the Mediterranean, so hopeful applicants aren’t put off by the idea of getting into freezing cold water.
A source said: “‘Cannonball’ is a wacky idea for a show but it promises to be funny. It involves people throwing themselves around in a swimming pool and making fools of themselves.”
ITV previously posted an advert on their website where willing applicants could submit their details for a chance to be on the show, and whilst no air date is yet confirmed, the applications closed last month.

Casualty to air 'live' episode to mark 30th anniversary

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Casualty’ is to air a special episode filmed in just one take to mark its 30th anniversary.
The BBC drama series plans to create a one-off ‘live’ episode, titled ‘One’, which will centre on veteran nurse Lisa ‘Duffy’ Duffin (played by Cathy Shipton) as she welcomes two new nurses to the hospital.
Cathy explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It is so exciting and nerve-wracking to be working on this episode and unlike anything any of us cast or crew have ever attempted.
“It is a brilliant fly-on-the-wall episode in real time, placing nurses central in the storyline. It will become a classic ‘Casualty’.”
Series producer Erika Hossington said the one-off programme will give viewers an unprecedented look into life in a hospital.
She said: “This special episode will give the audience a unique insight into an hour in A&E. It will be an intense, emotional hour in which staff and patients are faced with life-changing events.”
The episode is set to be shot as ‘live’ next week and its airing will mark the end of the show’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Cathy returned to ‘Casualty’ last year, after her appearances in a series of one-off episodes in 2015 were well received by TV viewers.
Duffy was one of the programme’s original characters, and the actress was delighted to be welcomed back on set.
She previously said: “After returning last year for episodes one and two of series 30, many asked if Duffy was sticking around long-term and I replied that the door is wonderfully wide open! Well, the response was so positive that I’ve stepped right through and am thrilled to be back on the show.”
