‘I felt like I was failing her’: Emma Stone had doubts about playing Bella Baxter in Poor Things

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Stone feared that she would “fail” Bella Baxter as a character in ‘Poor Things’.
The 35-year-old star plays the lead role in the acclaimed Yorgos Lanthimos film about a woman who goes on a journey of self-discovery after being brought to life and admits that she initially doubted that she would be able to live up to the part.
Speaking to Variety magazine, Emma said: “I think because I had lived with her in my mind for so long and I was so deeply in love with Bella, it terrified me not to live up to her as a character. I felt like I was failing her in the first week, and failing Yorgos. It was just difficult.”
The ‘Cruella’ star – who was honoured with the Best Actress in a Leading Role gong for her portrayal of Bella Baxter at the BAFTA Film Awards last weekend – revealed how she was eventually able to overcome her concerns with support from Lanthimos.
Emma said: “I could talk to Yorgos about it, and we were able to discover as we went. And because it’s a safe environment, it doesn’t feel rushed. His sets don’t feel like, ‘Oh, we have to get this, and we’ve got to move on, even though I don’t want to.’ Or at least he doesn’t communicate that to us.”
Stone also gave insight into Yorgos’ unique approach to rehearsals and the way the process made the cast bond in a “more intimate way”.
She explained: “For ‘La La Land’, we did a ton of rehearsals for a very long time, but it was very specific: dancing and singing. But when Yorgos was talking about rehearsal, I didn’t know exactly what that entailed.
“And it turns out that his rehearsals, they have nothing to do with what you’ll ultimately do on the day. But what it does, I think, subconsciously or in a subterranean way, is it lets everybody feel very comfortable with each other. You’re playing a lot of games… I loved it.”
Emma added: “And I realized by the time that we were on set, we all felt very close to each other. We had all gotten to know each other in a much more intimate way than we would’ve if we’d just been blocking and saying our lines over and over.”

Brooke Vincent reveals if she would do Strictly Come Dancing after cousin Ellie Leach won series 21

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooke Vincent doesn’t think she could take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after her cousin Ellie Leach won the latest series.
The 31-year-old actress is best known for playing Sophie Webster on ‘Coronation Street’ from 2004 until 2019 while Ellie, 22, starred as Faye Windass on the ITV1 soap opera from 2011 until 2023, before claiming victory on the BBC Latin and ballroom show just months after leaving the cobbles.
And now, Brooke doesn’t think she would be able to take to the dancefloor, because she would have such big shoes to fill and might be regarded as “the failure”.
Asked on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ if she would ever take part in ‘Strictly’, she said: “Oh God, no, I can’t do it now, not after she won! I’d be like the failure! She just did amazing. You just get bored of saying how proud you are so I was trying to word it in different ways.”
Former ‘Dancing on Ice’ runner-up Brooke – who has Mexx, four, and two-year-old Monroe with footballer Kean Bryan – is now starring in a touring stage adaptation of Kay Mellor’s hit TV series ‘The Syndicate’.
Brooke explained how different she is finding rehearsing for her new role after so many years working in ‘Corrie’.
She said: “Well, with live TV you get no second chances and it’s literally that.
“You’ve got to go with the flow whereas back on ‘Corrie’ and other TV it’s like … ‘Oh your hair was just in your face, can we just go again?’, it’s a completely different skill set but I’m just so excited.
“I did a play when I was younger and I feel like it’s a feeling you get, it’s that buzz. You become mindful of everything around you, and you can hear if something is off. But I was taught that whatever happens, you just keep going!
“We’re touring from April to July so every night just going over it so it’s not necessarily about the lines, it’s going to be about keeping it fresh.”

Roman Kemp tipped to take part in Celebrity Big Brother following Capital Breakfast exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp has been tipped to star in this year’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 31-year-old star recently announced his decision to leave Capital Breakfast after more than 10 years of working for the network, and now betting company Coral have priced him at 2/1 to become a contestant on the new series of the ITV reboot of the hit reality show.
Coral’s PR manager John Hill told The Sun newspaper: “Roman Kemp has announced he is leaving Capital’s Breakfast Show and many punters believe he will head straight into the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
“We make the presenter odds-on to be one of the contestants on the return of the celebrity show.”
The original version of ‘Big Brother’ and its celebrity-based counterpart ran on Channel 4 from 2000 until 2010, before moving to Channel 5 until 2018.
But the format was revived by ITV towards the end of 2023, and was eventually won by former lawyer Jordan Sangha, 26, with dancer Olivia Young, 23, as runner-up.
The famous faces taking part in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ will be revealed live on air during the launch episode on March 4, but some other big names rumoured to be taking part include former ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh and ‘Love Island’ winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu.
Former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ contestant Roman recently announced live on air that he is to leave his radio hosting job within the next few weeks.
Speaking live on Monday’s (19.02.24) show, he said: “What I can tell you is I’m not saying goodbye right now, I’m not leaving the show today and that’s it, but it’s not far away. It will come and that goodbye will come in five to six weeks. “It’s not a decision that has come overnight either, it’s massive, I’ve not found it easy at all.
“Capital is my family, you as the wonderful listeners that you’ve been, you’ve been with me at my best times and my absolute lowest … Capital and Global have helped change me. I was 22 years old when I first joined Capital and it’s built me into the man that I am today, it is all that I know.”

Caroline Quentin regrets working so much when her kids were little: ‘You can’t turn the clock back!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Quentin regrets working so much when her children were little.
The 63-year-old actress – who has Emily, 24, and 20-year-old William with now-husband Sam Farmer – had just finished playing Dorothy in the hit sitcom ‘Men Behaving Badly’ when she became a mother, and also starred in ‘Jonathan Creek’ as well as ‘Kiss Me Kate’ in the years that followed.
But the star has admitted she “mourned” her children when she was away working, and she feels “so bad” about leaving them in their early years because she cannot get that time back.
She told Good Housekeeping Magazine: “God, I missed them. I mourned them terribly when I was away. That’s probably why I feel so bad about it because it left a hole in me. People said: ‘Oh, they’re young for such a short period of time’, and I didn’t listen; I thought I knew better, and I didn’t.
“I should’ve said no to work and yes to them, but because I was the breadwinner, I thought I had to do it. Well, I didn’t, did I? But you can’t turn back the clock; you have to live with these things.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant – who was initially married to comedian Paul Merton but met Sam when he was a runner on ‘Men Behaving Badly’ and tied the knot with him in 2006 – also revealed she found something of a “security blanket” in gardening during a traumatic childhood.
Caroline admitted getting outside felt like “time out” from her troubles in the real world.
She said: “Ever since I was little, it’s been a sort of security blanket. My childhood was quite chaotic; my mother, who had bipolar disorder, would often spend time in psychiatric hospitals. When I was 10, I was sent to boarding school, with these horrible, grumpy matrons and regimented bath and mealtimes.
“I was a painfully shy child, I still am shy beneath my loud persona, and I remember being so homesick and discombobulated by everything in my life. But getting out in nature and watching things grow felt like time out from the ‘real’ world. It was an opportunity to leave all the sadness and scary things behind.”

Joe Swash struck down by food poisoning in Guatemala whilst filming new TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Swash was struck down by food poisoning when filming ‘World’s Most Dangerous Roads’.
The 42-year-old star had flown out to Guatemala with comedian Seann Walsh for his new show on Dave – which will air Sunday 25 February – and upon arriving in the South American country admitted he was “nervous” about falling ill to begin with but ended up sicker than he could have imagined after just two days.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I was most nervous about getting food poisoning. The doctors said make sure you don’t drink the water because you’re going to get sick.
“And within two days, it got me. I wasn’t sick, it was more, you can imagine, you know?”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner – who is married to ‘Loose Women’ star Stacey Solomon – had to do all the driving in Guatemala because of a restriction on Seann’s license but quipped it would have been fun to have his wife by his side for the TV show.
He said: “We’d have had a great time. Stacey’s a very good driver.”
‘World’s Most Dangerous Roads’ is produced by Ricochet, commissioned for UKTV by Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning, and ordered for Dave by Cherie Cunningham, channel director.
‘World’s Most Dangerous Roads ‘is executive produced by Natalie Wilkinson and Hannah Lamb, and the series producer is Sean McDonnell.
Hilary Rosen said: “I’m delighted to be working with Ricochet to bring ‘World’s Most Dangerous Roads’ back for a second time.
“This series will continue to deliver heart stopping moments, set against spectacular landscapes as our often terrified celebrities battle some of the world’s toughest roads. It also provides revealing insights into their real world friendships while they undertake the adventure of a lifetime.”

Jonnie Irwin’s death doesn’t ‘feel real’ to widow

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonnie Irwin’s widow has admitted his death “doesn’t feel real”.
The ‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter passed away on 2 February following a diagnosis of terminal cancer in 2020 and his spouse Jessica admitted she is struggling to think about spending her life without the father of her three children, Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.
She wrote on Instagram: “It still doesn’t feel real. The sadness is huge. I can’t even let myself think what another week without Jonnie will be like let alone another year another 10 years.”
Jessica has been “truly touched” by the messages of support she has received and she’s sent particular praise to her and Jonnie’s families for their help.
She continued: “I have been truly touched by all the support from friends and strangers. But nothing compares to how I have been picked up by my family and Jonnies sisters , your support and love means everything to me.”
The family are currently taking a short break and Jessica has found the holiday to be “just what [they] needed”.
She concluded: “I am loving watching the boys enjoy some days in the sun and having a change of scene is just what we needed. [heart and prayer emoji] (sic)”
Jessica previously paid a touching tribute to the ‘Escape to the Country’ star following the news of his passing.
She wrote on Instagram: “Good night my favourite. Thank you for everything. I will always love you. The hardest day has come, a day I prayed wouldn’t come. It’s with all the sadness in the world that I confirm Jonnie has passed away earlier today. His magical brain that continued to fight to the end has now gone to sleep. He has given me more than I could ever have wished for, 8 bonkers years of love and adventure and 3 amazing boys.
“I will continue to make you proud but only with your love still finding me and guiding me for the rest of my life, me and the boys still need you. Jonnie you really were the most handsome man I ever knew and I am so sorry for this cruel end. It really wasn’t fair and you didn’t deserve any of this. You gave so much time to others and touched everyone you met, I have never experienced anything like the effect you had on people. I love you so much and forever proud of you xxx.”

Tyler Perry wanted to ‘modernise’ thriller genre with new movie Mea Culper

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler Perry wanted to “modernise” thrillers with his new Netflix film.
The 54-year-old actor wrote the script for ‘Mea Culper’ – which stars former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland as a legal defence attorney who defends an artist accused of murder – after recalling watching many films of its kind with his mother and admitted that was “ready” to take on this project whilst that is not always the case.
He told Screen Rant: “My mom and I used to watch all those thrillers back in the day, man, I used to love those movies and I thought, let’s modernise a story. Let’s tell a story from a different point of view, right? And when its character, Mea started showing up in my head as she was telling me different things, and that’s how it works for me.
“The characters show up, I start to write, and it leads to all these different pages. I never know where it’s going when I start, but by the time I got to the end, I was like, Oh yeah, I’m ready for this one'”.
The ‘Madea’ star explained that the film needs to be watched several times to fully understand what is going on as he teased that surprise twists will only make sense upon a second or third viewing.
He said: “So, you have to watch two or three times to catch what’s happening because you’ll see that in the very beginning, you’re being told everything as you go. But by the time you get to the end, you’re like, ‘Whoa, I didn’t see that coming’. But if you watch it again, it’s like, Oh, that’s why she did that. That’s why she said that. That’s what that look is about. So yeah, I’m dropping crumbs all the way.”
‘Mea Culper’ is to stream on Netflix from February 23.

Gareth Edwards in final talks to direct new Jurassic World story

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Edwards is in final negotiations to direct the new ‘Jurassic World’ movie.
The ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ filmmaker reportedly spent the last weeks in talks with Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment after a deal couldn’t be reached with David Leitch for him to helm the upcoming film, which is due to be released on 2 July 2025.
According to Deadline, Gareth is said to have impressed producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall and they have made him an offer, with pe-production expected to step up when a deal is sealed.
The film is thought to be launching a “new Jurassic era” with a brand-new storyline, seemingly ruling out returns for the ‘Jurassic World’ characters played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
The characters played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are also unlikely to feature in the new film after the trio returned for the 2022 film ‘Jurassic World Dominion’.
The upcoming film will be the seventh in the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise, although ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ director Colin Trevorrow claimed that the sequels should never have been made after his movie was met with negative reviews.
He told Empire magazine: “There probably should have only been one ‘Jurassic Park’ – but if we’re gonna do it, how can I allow them to tell stories in a world which dinosaurs exist, as opposed to, here’s another reason why we’re going to an island?”
Trevorrow explained that he tried to attempt something different with the plot to bring the trilogy to a close.
He said of the film: “I specifically did something different than the other films in order to change the DNA of the franchise. The previous five films are plots about dinosaurs. This one is a story about characters in a world in which they coexist with dinosaurs.”

Paul O’Grady to be remembered in one-off ITV documentary on the first anniversary of his death

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul O’Grady will be remembered in a one-off documentary that will air around the first anniversary of his death.
The TV legend – who shot to fame as pioneering drag queen Lily Savage in the 1980s before carving out a second career as himself with his own chat show in the early 2000s – passed away in March 2023 after suffering sudden cardiac arrhythmia at the age of 67 and now The Sun has revealed that ITV1 will air ‘The Life And Death of Lily Savage’ at some point in the coming weeks.
The documentary will explore the life and career of Paul from his days on the drag scene, through his days hosting the ITV teatime series ‘The Paul O’Grady Show’ and his years hosting the multi-award-winning reality show ‘For the Love of Dogs’, in which he explored and campaigned for dogs in care at Battersea.
The one-off special has been in production for some time, with a source explaining last summer that the project is the broadcaster’s way of “paying further tribute” to one of their top stars.
A source said: “He occupies a special place in the hearts of everyone at ITV and this is part of paying further tribute to him.
“This is an interesting angle to take to look back on Paul’s career, but making the leap from edgy drag queen to a household name and star of teatime telly is a story worth exploring.”
Paul is survived by his husband Andre Portasio – who he tied the knot with in 2017 – and at the time of his passing, he noted that the TV star would be missed by “everyone” from his audiences, showbiz pals and all the animals he cared for.
He said: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”

‘It became like a microwave’: Austin Butler had to cope with scorching temperatures on Dune: Part Two set

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Butler battled brutally hot conditions in his first week on the set of ‘Dune: Part Two’.
The 32-year-old star joins the epic sci-fi franchise in the new movie as the sadistic Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and revealed how heat stroke took its toll on the cast and crew during his opening week of shooting.
Austin told Entertainment Weekly: “It was 110 degrees and so hot. I had the bald cap on, and it was between two soundstages that were just gray boxes of 200-foot walls and sand. It became like a microwave. There were people passing out from heat stroke. And that was just my first week.”
However, the ‘Elvis’ actor thinks that the tough conditions were a unifying force for those working on the blockbuster.
Austin said: “It really bonds the entire crew. There’s something so humbling about being in such an uncomfortable environment.”
The hot temperatures made director Denis Villeneuve glad that he didn’t take the conventional Hollywood approach by making both ‘Dune’ films back-to-back without a break in production.
The 56-year-old filmmaker said: “Both movies were made in very harsh conditions, and it’s very physically taxing, so to have a break in between them was a blessing.
“My first thought was to shoot both movies back to back together, but now I think I would have died. It was really intense, and seeing how the world reacted to ‘Part One’ was a boost of positive energy to go back into the desert.”
Denis previously explained how ‘Dune: Part Two’ is “more of an action” film than its 2021 predecessor.
He told Total Film magazine: “The first movie was more mediative and contemplative. We were following a young man discovering a new planet, a new culture.
“The second movie … it’s more of an action film than the first part. It’s more muscular.”

Stephen King questions the delay to Salem’s Lot release

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen King has questioned Warner Bros. for delaying the release of ‘Salem’s Lot’.
Gary Dauberman’s movie adaptation of King’s 1975 novel was removed from the studio’s release schedule last year but the acclaimed author is puzzled by the move as he was impressed with the picture when he watched it.
In a post on the social media platform X – formerly known as Twitter – King wrote: “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new ‘SALEM’S LOT’ and it’s quite good. Old-school horror film making: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the things.”
It was reported last October that Warner Bros. was planning to release the film on HBO Max as the SAG-AFTRA strike had created “a growing need for content” on the streaming service.
Warner Bros. has come under fire for shelving movies such as ‘Batgirl’ and ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ although DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran backed the studio’s “bold and courageous” decision to axe the “unreleasable” superhero movie in 2022.
He told Variety last year: “On the ‘Batgirl’ front, it’s not about late in the process of the film getting cancelled. I saw the movie, and there are a lot of incredibly talented people in front of and behind the camera on the film.
“But that film was not releasable, and it happens sometimes. That film was not releasable. I actually think that (the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David) Zaslav and the team made a very bold and courageous decision to cancel it because it would have hurt DC. It would have hurt those people involved.”

The Office star Ewen MacIntosh dies aged 50 as Ricky Gervais leads tributes

OHMYGOSSIP — Ewen MacIntosh has died at the age of 50.
The actor was best known for starring as Keith Bishop in ‘The Office’ from 2001 until 2003 but it was announced by his agency on Wednesday (21.02.24) that he had passed away, just weeks after sharing with fans that on social media that he had been in hospital.
In a statement, JustRight Management said: “With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh. His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home. There will be a private cremation for family and close friends soon and a celebratory memorial later in the year.”
The agency did not reveal a cause of death but earlier this month, Ewen shared a snap of himself in a hospital bed as he told followers that “bad times” were on the cards for him.
He wrote on X: “Bad times for me I’m afraid chums. Stay strong out there.”
Over the course of two series, Ewen played accounts department worker Keith – who was affectionately known as Big Keith – on the original version of the mockumentary sitcom, and former co-star Ricky Gervais was amongst the first to pay tribute following the news that he had passed away.
He wrote on X: “Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”
His close friend Ed Scott “completely devastated by the loss” and TV channel GOLD also posted a message on social media.
They said: “We at GOLD are saddened to hear that Ewen MacIntosh has passed away at the age of 50. We loved him as Keith in The Office and were lucky enough to work with him over the years on the channel. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at such a difficult time.”
Following his stint on ‘The Office’, Ewen made cameo appearances on ‘Miranda’ and ‘Little Britain’ and in 2014 starred in ‘The Confusion of Tongues’ alongside Gemma Atkinson and Sadie Frost.
One of his final appearances saw him reunite with Ricky Gervais when he appeared as a character simply billed as Buffet Man in Netflix hit ‘After Life’.
He was declared bankrupt in 2016 but later told of how he found success again by selling custom videos for fans on websites like Cameo and CelebVM, who usually wanted him to reprise his signature role for birthday messages and suchlike.
He said: “When lockdown happened this whole fad of like video messaging, like Cameo and CelebVM, really kind of took off. I’m doing that a lot.
“I would say all my requests bar none are for me to do Keith lines and Keith quotes for people’s birthday messages, stag dos and weddings and so on.”

Springwatch star Chris Packham fears he is target of ‘considerable violence’

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Packham is worried he is the target of “considerable violence”.
The 62-year-old TV star, who hosts ‘Springwatch’ alongside Michaela Strachan and Iolo Williams, has been the victim of several threats recently, including letters promising harm against him and his family. Now, Chris has revealed he is fearful that violence could be around “the next corner”.
Speaking to Saga Magazine, he said: “I had a death threat sent by email last week that was reported to the police.
“A threat of violence the previous week. On my social media platforms, the climate change deniers, the pro-shooting, pro-hunting lobbies are very active daily. I spend quite a lot of time alone in the countryside with my dogs and you don’t know who’s around the next corner.”
Chris previously revealed extra security for the BBC show had to be taken on to ensure his safety after “specific threats” were made against him.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “A couple of times recently, before the Watches, we’ve had specific threats for me. So we’ve had a person who’s there and stays at the hotel, and then goes with me to the place.”
“We have had several threats recently that are not death threats but they’re saying, ‘We’re going to harm you.’ And they come, unbelievably, from emails. We’ve got the person’s email address, obviously, I’ve reported them to the police.
“I haven’t heard back from the police but they’ve acknowledged receipt of them. So we’ve had two in the last month, saying, ‘I’m going to harm you and harm your family.’”
The violence pledged against Chris from “climate change deniers” has been coming ever since the presenter voiced his opinions on groups like Just Stop Oil, and other organisations that want to prevent environmental decay.
Whilst he advocates for their aims, Chris has insisted he only “selectively supports” some of Just Stop Oil’s actions.

Breathtaking author Rachel Clarke urges public to watch Joanne Froggatt drama about COVID pandemic

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Clarke has urged the public to watch ‘Breathtaking’ to get a better understanding of what nurses experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 52-year-old doctor has had her memoirs of working through the COVID-19 pandemic adapted into an ITV drama and while she has praised the series for its “attention to detail”, she also recalled the “fear” of that time all came back to her when she was on set.
In an opinion column for the Daily Mirror newspaper, she wrote: “There was a moment, standing on set, when I started to feel my chest constricting. We’d turned three storeys of a disused college campus in Belfast into an NHS hospital complete with a Covid ward, ICU and A+E.
“The attention to detail was phenomenal. Stains on the ceilings, scuffs on the walls. The long scratches you see inside the entrance of every A+E made by trolleys bashing in from the ambulances outside over the years.
“But nothing prepared me for the experience of watching the cameras beginning to roll. Suddenly it all came back, the alarms, the monitors, the claustrophobia, the fear.”
Rachel then recalled how she felt during the time, and how “immensely challenging” it was to translate that onto screens.
She continued: “We were scared, unprotected, overwhelmed and bewildered. The guidance rarely made sense, the PPE was unforgivably inadequate (my only visor, for example, had been made by children from a local Scout group), and the inertia from the Government was absolutely terrifying.
“To put this all on screen – unvarnished, as we lived it – was going to be immensely challenging for viewers. But it mattered, I believed. It had to be shown. Healthcare workers risked their lives to save others. The very least the public could do, I felt strongly, was be willing to bear witness to what that felt like.”
The drama stars Joanne Froggatt, 43, and documents her character’s time as a nurse as she struggles to cope with the mounting demands of the health crisis.
Reflecting on reading the script, the actress revealed she “shed tears”.
She told RadioTimes.com: “I was blown away. I actually shed tears reading the scripts, and I don’t think that’s ever happened to me.
“I’ve welled up before, amazing scripts do hit you, but I was sat with tears streaming down my face at one point,” she added. “It was so unbelievably affecting.”

Simu Liu lets Marvel make movie decisions

OHMYGOSSIP — Simu Liu is happy to let Marvel control his destiny.
The 34-year-old actor is set to reprise the role of Shang-Chi in the sequel to the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ but is willing to be at the beck and call of the studio when it comes to his superhero work.
Quizzed about his place in the Marvel set-up, Simu told ComicBook.com: “Oh man, I don’t know to be honest.
“I mean, those things are just so above my pay grade. I just wanna continue to be a fan of it. You know, when I get a call of like, ‘Hey, this is what you’re in and this is where you’re going to show up. And, this is when you’re going to need to be blacked out for.’ That’s kind of generally what tends to happen.”
A release date for the ‘Shang-Chi’ sequel is yet to be confirmed but Simu has complete faith that returning director Destin Daniel Cretton will do a “brilliant job” on the movie.
The ‘Barbie’ actor said: “Destin is such a special filmmaker and we’re very happy to have him on the sequel. So, he’ll be working on that and we’re really excited to see what he comes up with. I think he’s going to do a brilliant job.”
Simu previously said that he was relaxed about the sequel as the success of the first film proved that audiences have an interest in the character.
Liu – the first Asian star to lead the cast of an MCU blockbuster – told Collider: “Generally, you’re under the most pressure when something is unproven. There’s really high stakes. I remember shooting the first movie and feeling like, ‘Okay, we’re essentially crafting this character, every single day.’
“The stakes could not be higher because it was a 100 bajillion dollar movie budget. I feel like those are the circumstances under which the pressure would be the highest.”

‘It’s been done to death’: Linda Hamilton rules out Terminator return

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Hamilton has no interest in returning to the ‘Terminator’ franchise.
The 67-year-old actress played the role of heroine Sarah Connor in three movies in the sci-fi action series but has no desire to reprise the part after the disappointing response to the 2019 flick ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’.
Speaking to Business Insider, Linda said: “I’m done. I’m done. I have nothing more to say. The story’s been told, and it’s been done to death.”
Director James Cameron previously revealed that he was “in discussion” for a ‘Terminator’ reboot but Linda sees little point in reviving the franchise once again.
She said: “Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now.”
Sarah Connor became a beloved character but Linda was uncomfortable with the acclaim as she highlighted that her alter ego made plenty of bad decisions during the course of the story.
The ‘Children of the Corn’ star explained: “I truly feel like, and felt like, Sarah Connor is not an icon. She’s a woman in hell. She makes some really bad choices. She’s not a good mother, she’s a good fighter!
“So you sort of try to parse the details out and go, ‘Well, they respect her strength and her power, and I did create a warrior, but she’s very imperfect. She’s an imperfect person.'”
Hamilton explained that she is now at peace with the way she is received by ‘Terminator’ fans.
She said: “It was hard to sort of come to terms with all that and then just go, ‘Okay, I can accept it’, because I’ve heard it now for so many years, people actually treat me like I saved the future.
“If you could see how utterly hapless I am during my life and my daily life! But it’s pretty cute, and I have no complaints, it’s delightful.”
