Mike Thalassitis would ‘back himself’ to charm Jess Shears

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Thalassitis would back himself to win the heart of Jess Shears if he initiated anything.
The ‘Love Island’ hunk and the brunette beauty were rumoured to have enjoyed a fling on the programme, but Jess has recently been dating Dom Lever and their romance appears to be going from strength to strength.
Reflecting on the situation, Mike said: “With the whole Jess thing – yeah who knows what would have happened. Dom came out. You saw the papers. Nothing happened.
“If things worked out differently – yeah they would have worked out differently. Yeah, nothing happened.”
But Mike subsequently suggested that the only reason things didn’t progress between himself and Jess, was because he didn’t actively pursue the busty brunette.
Asked if things would have been different if he had opted to initiate the situation with Jess, he told MirrorTV: “I back myself. I don’t know, I’m not Jess.”
Meanwhile, Mike also revealed he would “see what happens” with Tyla Carr following his exit from the show.
The hunky star admitted he enjoyed sharing a bed with Tyla and insisted he isn’t concerned about the reaction of his fellow islander Jonny Mitchell.
The 24-year-old soccer star said: “I definitely want to see Jonny. He was my mate in there the first time.
“I’m not worried, I know Jonny’s a man. He’s not stupid he knows the game. He know what he’s about in there.
“He was probably only one of the reasons I enjoyed my first time in there. I’m looking forward to seeing Jonny. He’s a man and he carries himself like a man.”

Tyla Carr loves to experiment in the bedroom

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Tyla Carr likes to “experiment” with her sex life from “time-to-time.”
The 24-year-old beauty – who was given the boot from ITV2 dating show on Monday night (17.07.17) – believes wild lovemaking is vital to any relationship and has no regrets about past romps – even though some of them were three-ways.
After exiting the villa, Tyla said: “I have experimented from time to time to see what I like and what I don’t like. Sex is a big part of any relationship – if I’m not sexually attracted to someone then it is never going to work.”
The brunette beauty – who was a late arrival – certainly didn’t have an easy time while she was inside the famous shack as she was recently slammed for choosing to stay in the villa when her love interest Jonny Mitchell was given the boot.
The pair had grown close over the past few weeks, but found themselves in the bottom two last week and, although they vowed to get together on the outside, Tyla allowed Jonny to walk out without her – something fans thought was really odd considering she was in tears and claiming she missed him – even though she could have left with him.
Speaking to The Sun Online, the buxom babe said: “I don’t regret not walking. We understood where we came from. I wanted to make the most of my experience.
“Emotions are heightened in the villa, especially when someone is leaving. It is very sad. I forgot what I said; I had to be reminded of that.”
And Tyla insists she isn’t upset that Jonny has now hooked up with former contestant Chyna Ellis and has wished him all the best in finding someone he truly admires.
She said: “I hope he’s met someone who he likes and can get on with – just like I have.”

Tamal Ray to host new health show on Channel 4

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Great British Bake Off’ contestant Tamal Ray is set to front a new health show on Channel 4.
The runner-up of the 2015 series of the baking competition is reportedly being eyed for his own prime-time health show to fill the hole left by ‘Embarrassing Bodies’ which ended two years ago.
Tamal will front the as-yet-untitled programme – which is being produced by ‘Bake Off’ creators Love Productions – alongside ‘Food Unwrapped’ star Kate Quilton.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “There’s been a real demand for health shows on Channel 4 ever since Embarrassing Bodies finished.
“And now Channel 4 have pinned their hopes on Love Productions, who make Bake Off, to give them a successful format that will prove to be a hit with fans.
“The new series will feature stories of people with all sorts of issues, such as back pain or booze troubles.
“They filmed a pilot called ‘Be Your Own Doctor’ but they’ve since changed the format to give it a different feel altogether.
“On top of everything, Tamal and Kate will be encouraging everyone to be healthy – which in a way is ironic, given that they’ve both been in shows making cake.”
For Kate, the hosting slot comes as she narrowly missed out on being named as one of the replacements for former ‘Bake Off’ hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, who left the show after it moved to Channel 4 from the BBC.
Instead, Sandy Toksvig and Noel Fielding were named as the show’s hosts, whilst Prue Leith will be joining the judging team alongside Paul Hollywood, who was the only original cast member to make the move to Channel 4.

Marnie Simpson wants to date Casey Johnson

OHMYGOSSIP — Marnie Simpson wants to date Casey Johnson.
The 25-year-old beauty and the former Union J singer developed feelings for one another after they signed to star in ‘Single AF’, which will see them go on a series of dates with people in Mexico and document their experiences on social media, but after bosses made the decision to separate them after they were caught locking lips.
But, although they’re with one another anymore, the brunette beauty has admitted she’d like to give things a go with the hunk once the show wraps up because she likes him.
Writing in her column for star magazine, she said: “I’ve been spending lots of time with Casey Johnson and I care about him a lot. We had a heart-to-heart last week and he admitted he gets jealous when he sees me date other men in the show. I’ve been getting jealous as well, which shows there are genuine feelings between us. I’m definitely considering dating him once we’ve finished filming.”
Casey revealed earlier this month, before the show launched, that he was attracted to Marnie and had already started flirting with the brunette beauty.
He said: “I fancy Marnie! She’s hot. She’s up for the craic, I hate girls that are too heavy – I just want someone I can have a laugh with!”
And Casey claimed that Marnie was also attracted to him.
The hunk – who was previously dating Betsy Blue-English – said: “I think Marnie is so fit. I know she fancies me! We’ve been talking a bit – when we found out we’ve been doing the show we started texting and now we’re texting a bit. But we haven’t done anything because we wanted to save it. We’ve been talking quite a lot.”

Chanelle McCleary gets intimate with boyfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Chanelle McCleary gave up £400 of the ‘Big Brother’ prize fund to have sex with her boyfriend.
The former ‘Ex on the Beach’ star was called into the Diary Room during Monday night’s (17.07.17) show, where she was asked to decide if she wanted to forego a piece of the £100,000 prize fund for a night of passion with her beau of five months, Jake.
She was told: “Your boyfriend Jake is currently in Big Brother’s boudoir, awaiting your arrival. He has high hopes you will join him for a sleep over. Choosing to spend the night with Jake comes at a cost. If you decide to spend the night with Jake, £400 will be taken from your team’s pot.”
And Chanelle didn’t even have to think about her answer.
She said: “I wanna go. Do we get Prosecco? I’m doing it. There’s no questions asked. I’m going.”
Chanelle then headed into the pink boudoir where she got intimate with her boyfriend on a bed decorated with rose petals.
Elsewhere on the show, Isabelle Warburton gave up £150 of the prize money to get a phone call from the outside whilst all of the contestants took part in a game where they tried to win back a huge portion of the prize fund that had been taken away from them by Big Brother.
The task, called The Steal, is formed by a number of challenges spread out across the week, culminating in a huge twist.
Big Brother warned them: “All friendships made in the house so far must be put to one side – your only focus for now is to earn back the money for your team.”
However, what the group don’t know yet is that one housemate will be walking away with money everyone has tried to save.
The prize fund had already been reduced from £100,000 to £85,000 after the last remaining second chance housemate was told they would take home £15,000 if they outlasted all the others.

Mark Ruffalo blames Universal Pictures for no Hulk film

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ruffalo has criticized Universal Pictures and has blamed the studio for there not being a new standalone Incredible Hulk movie.
The 49-year-old actor has portrayed Bruce Banner and his green giant gamma powered alter ego in two Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and is set to reprise the role in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ but his Hulk has not had his own adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the last movie being 2008’s First Wave movie ‘The Incredible Hulk’, which starred Edward Norton in the lead role.
Ruffalo has blamed Universal for the lack of solo action, saying that because they own the distribution rights a new Hulk story can’t get off the ground.
Speaking at the Disney D23 Expo in California, the Oscar nominee said: “I want to just make one thing perfectly clear today: A standalone ‘Hulk’ movie will never happen. Universal has the rights, and for some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel. And, they don’t want to make money.”
The actor also confirmed his character will have a bigger arc in ‘Avengers 4’.
He said: “There’s a huge change for Banner and for Hulk. It isn’t resolved in the first ‘Infinity War’, it sort of culminates into the second ‘Infinity War’. ‘Thor 3′ is the beginning of a lot of changes for Banner and Hulk’.”
The Hulk is not the only Avenger whose rights don’t solely belong to Marvel with Spider-Man being owned by Sony Pictures.
However, the recent ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, starring Tom Holland as the webslinger, was the first collaboration between the two studios despite each having their own universes.
Ruffalo was joined by Downey Jr, Hemsworth, Holland, Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) as well as many other MCU stars.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ sees the Earth-bound heroes joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy as they fight the mad titan Thanos.
The major blockbuster is set to hit the screens in April, 2018.

Tom Savini praises late horror legend and friend George A. Romero

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Savini has paid tribute to his friend George A. Romero following the news of his death, describing the filmmaker as a “light that has gone out and can’t be replaced”.
The 70-year-old special effects expert enjoyed a long-running working relationship with the horror master collaborating on nine movies, including ‘Martin’, ‘Dawn of the Dead’, ‘Creepshow’, ‘Day of the Dead’,’Creepshow 2′ and ‘Monkey shines’.
Savini has been left devastated by the loss of the director, who died on Sunday (16.07.17) at the age of 77 following a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer”, and took to Twitter to tell his followers that he will always cherish their 50-year friendship.
The gore master tweeted: “Goodbye George A Romero. We laughed through 50 years and 9 films. I will miss him. There is a light that has gone out and can’t be replaced. (sic)”
Savini’s tribute is just one of many that have been made in honour of the late great Romero since he passed away.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ filmmaker James Gunn – who worked on the screenplay for Zack Snyder’s 2004 remake of Romero’s ‘Dawn of the Dead’ – took to Facebook to thank the director for making the movies which inspired his career.
Gunn posted: “I just heard George Romero has passed away. Seeing Night of the Living Dead as a child not only scared the living hell out of me, and made me forever jump at creepy children, but it was so incredibly DIY I realized movies were not something that belonged solely to the elites with multiple millions of dollars but could also be created by US, the people who simply loved them, who lived in Missouri, as I did, or Pennsylvania, as you did, or anywhere. I picked up an eight millimeter camera, mixed some Karo syrup with some red food dye to make blood, and began making movies – specifically, having my one brother eat my other brother onscreen, alive. I was eleven. That was the first moment of my film career, and it was spurned on because of you. Dawn of the Dead showed me how social commentary could take place in a genre film; the poster for the movie graced my wall throughout my high school years, and is one of the reasons I took the gig writing the remake.
“Thank you, George, for being a part of my life for a long, long time, in so many different ways. Rest in Peace. (sic)”
Horror author Stephen King – who worked with Romero twice on 1982’s ‘Creepshow’ and his 1993 big screen adaptation of his author ‘The Dark Half’ – tweeted: “Sad to hear my favorite collaborator – and good old friend – George Romero has died. George, there will never be another like you. (sic)”
Former Marvel Cinematic Universe writer and director Joss Whedon – who created the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ series and wrote the acclaimed 2012 horror movie ‘Cabin in the Woods’ – also logged on to his Twitter account to say: “No one mined the zombie metaphor like Romero. (After he invented it.) No one has come close. RIP & thank you to a Great Film Artist. (sic)”
And Max Landis – who is currently remaking his father John Landis’ 1982 creature feature classic ‘An American Werewolf in London’ – praised Romero for being the pioneer of shared universe films.
He wrote on Twitter: “George Romero was an icon who created a cinematic universe of loosely affiliated sequels forty years before that was a thing RIP to a genius (sic)”
A statement released by his manager Chris Roe revealed that Romero passed away at home “listening to the score of ‘The Quiet Man,’ one of his all-time favourite films, with his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero at his side”.

Benicio Del Toro is his own character in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — Benicio Del Toro’s ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ character is his “own person”.
The 50-year-old actor was revealed to have joined the cast of the eighth movie in the franchise as the mysterious character DJ, and after fans suggested his character is Ezra Bridger from ‘Star Wars Rebels’, director Rian Johnson has insisted that isn’t true.
Speaking to ‘Good Morning America’ at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, over the weekend, Rian said: “He’s his own person. DJ is his own person.”
The filmmaker also said DJ’s name stands for something major in the franchise and hinted it would be revealed in the upcoming movie.
At the convention on Sunday (16.07.17), Benicio also kept tight lipped about his character and didn’t give anything away.
He said: “I saw the original 1977 one when I was 10, so when you [Johnson] called me up and mentioned the title alone, I was like ‘let’s go’.”
The character was shown in the new footage in his dark trench coat with a distinctive hat, and in a leaked description, he is seen wearing all black with a Han Solo-style belt at his waist.
Benicio was joined on the panel by returning cast members Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, John Boyega, who is Finn, and Gwendoline Christie, who plays the formidable Captain Phasma, and newcomers Kellie Marie Tran as Resistance mechanic Rose and Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo.
Johnson then introduced a final cast member – Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, and the franchise veteran received a standing ovation.
He said: “There are so many unexpected elements, which is great with ‘Star Wars’ because it’s getting harder and harder to do that. That’s much more artful. I misspeak sometimes.”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi to offer ‘catharsis’ for Carrie Fisher fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Fisher’s role in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ is set to offer “some kind of catharsis” for fans of the late actress.
The Hollywood icon – who passed away aged 60 in December 2016 after suffering cardiac arrest – will make her last outing as Princess Leia in the upcoming eighth instalment of the popular sci-fi franchise in scenes filmed prior to her passing, and the movie’s director Rian Johnson believes her performance will offer “emotional satisfaction” to her legion of fans.
He said: “[I hope it] emotionally gives some kind of catharsis… it gives some kind of emotional satisfaction. I think so, I really hope so. I know for me it does.”
And the 43-year-old filmmaker says Carrie’s performance in the movie is “really beautiful”, and despite the scenes not being filmed in the knowledge they would be her last, there are still moments within the feature that will “mean a lot to people”.
He added: “Carrie gives a really beautiful performance in the film … We obviously didn’t make the movie to be her final film – final Star Wars movie. Given that though, I think there are scenes that she has that are going to mean a lot to people … there are scenes that we have with her where, now not having her around, I watch them and I think, I’m really thankful that we have that and that we can give that to people.”
Meanwhile, Rian also spoke of the importance of Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, in the upcoming instalment, as he said writing the role of the Jedi in the movie was the “starting point” in creating the whole production.
Speaking to ‘Good Morning America’ whilst at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, over the weekend, Rian said: “[It was] absolutely the starting point [to making the film]. We have some sense of what Rey wants from Luke. To me, the big enigma is what’s going on with Luke Skywalker. Why is he on that island? He knows his friends are in trouble. He knows the galaxy needs him. Why would this hero that I grew up with have put himself in exile? It was like if we could crack that nut then we have something to start working with and then that will inform what their whole relationship is.”
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will hit screens on December 15.

John Boyega teases Finn’s role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — John Boyega says Finn goes on a “dark mission” in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The British actor has reprised the role for the eagerly-awaited sci-fi movie and has given fans of the franchise a small idea about what they can expect to see in the new film, which is released later this year.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, John teased: “It’s gonna be lots of fighting for Finn.
“A lot of running, a lot of shooting. It’s a really dark mission.”
And despite this being his second ‘Star Wars’ movie, John admitted he’s still not fully adjusted to the attention that comes with appearing in the iconic series.
He explained: “I think my ears have now gotten used to it, but the experience of it all … you never get used to it.
“I mean, people you don’t know are just screaming and rightly so. Doing amazing things with this franchise and this movie, so it’s a nice way of showing love to the fans and them showing love to you, too. So it’s cool.”
Earlier this month, meanwhile, director Rian Johnson revealed he had the “time of his life” making ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The Hollywood movie-maker said he relished directing the film because the sci-fi series means so much to him.
He said: “My friends, whenever I talk to them recently … ask me what the experience was like, I always come back and say I had the time of my life making this movie.
“Part of that is what ‘Star Wars’ means to me, and what it means to a lot of us.”

George A Romero has died

OHMYGOSSIP — George A. Romero has died.
The legendary horror movie writer-and-director – who was best known as creator of zombie film ‘Night of the Living Dead’ and a string of sequels – passed away on Sunday (16.07.17) at the age of 77 following a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer”, his producing partner Peter Grunwald told the Los Angeles Times newspaper in a statement.
George passed away in his sleep while listening to the score of one of his favourite films, 1952’s ‘The Quiet Man’, with his wife Suzanne Desrocher and daughter Tina Romero by his side.
Following the news of his passing, a number of stars and fellow directors have paid tribute to the ‘Martin’ filmmaker.
‘Cabin Fever’ director Eli Roth hailed George as a huge inspiration to him.
He wrote in a series of tweets: “Hard to quantify how much he inspired me and what he did for cinema …
“Romero used genre to confront racism 50 years ago. He always had diverse casts, with Duane Jones as the heroic star of NOTLD. Very few others in cinema were taking such risks. He was both ahead of his time and exactly what cinema needed at that time.
“You can trace a direct line from NOTLD to Get Out. And … Romero created the modern zombie. The infectious bite. Shoot the head. Everything.”
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro praised George’s work on “singlehandedly” pioneering zombie horror.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: “George created an entire subgenre in cinema. He singlehandedly forged the tale of the cannibalistic undead Zombies.
“Before him, the Zombie existed mainly as a vague Afro-Caribbean myth about the powers of Voodoo and such.
“What George did is give us, in them, a dark mirror in which we can reflect socially; to learn what in them remain us and what it is to be human.
“George was an iconoclast, an untamed mind and a liberal thinker who used horror to illuminate the darkness around us.”
‘Halloween’ director Rob Zombie is stunned by the news.
He wrote on social media: “I can’t believe George Romero has died. All the zombies owe him everything! He was the master.”
Horror writer Stephen King is saddened by the loss of his “good old friend”.
He tweeted: “Sad to hear my favorite collaborator — and good old friend — George Romero has died. George, there will never be another like you.”

Tim Burton confirms Dumbo cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Farrell, Danny DeVito, Eva Green and Michael Keaton will all appear in ‘Dumbo’.
Director Tim Burton appeared in a short video at Disney’s D23 expo to announce the start of the live-action production and revealed details of the star-studded cast, which will also feature Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins.
An official plot synopsis for the film revealed Colin will play a former circus star, Holt Farrier, whose life is turned upside down when he returns from the war and is enlisted by a circus owner (DeVito) to care for a newborn elephant with oversized ears.
The circus is struggling, but when Holt’s children – Parker and Hobbins – discover the elephant can fly, entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton) and aerial artist Colette (Green) team up to make the creature a star.
The movie – which will also include animated elements – will all be filmed in England and is currently scheduled for release in the US on 29 March 2019.
‘Dumbo’ is one of the classic Disney films, which tells the story of a ostracised baby elephant who strives to prove his worth after he is mocked for having big ears.
For the live-action adaptation, Ehren Kruger has written the script and is also producing alongside ‘Tron: Legacy’s’ Justin Springer.
This project joins Disney’s ever growing franchise of live-action reboots which has seen ‘Maleficent’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘The Jungle Book’ and most recently, the box office smash ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
Among the other remakes being lined up are ‘The Lion King’, ‘Mulan’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’.

Nicole Kidman’s post-film party

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst used to go out for dinner and party in the evenings while shooting their new movie ‘The Beguiled’ together.
The trio star as Martha Farnsworth, Alicia and Edwina Dabney, respectively, in the thriller film, which is out in cinemas now, and while they were serious and co-operative on set, they weren’t afraid to let their hair down once their scenes had wrapped up.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, Nicole said: “Yeah we all knew each other! I already knew Elle quite well. Sofia [Coppola, the director] had worked with Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst before, so we had a lot of fun. We would go out to dinner and go out to parties at night. So we had our off screen and our on screen fun.”
The 50-year-old actress has admitted she jumped at the chance to do the film when she found out Coppola was taking charge because she loves how feminine her work is.
She explained: “I think she’s incredibly feminine and the way in which she directs; it’s incredibly feminine. I was actually speaking to Jane Campion about her because they were on the jury together at one point at the Cannes Film Festival and she said the thing about Sofia is that she just has that gorgeous ultra femme style to her film making, which is really rare, but you know it’s the female gaze.”
And, although a lot of actresses complain that their careers start to slow down once they fit 50, Nicole believes she’s had the best year of her life in terms of work.
She said: “I think it sort of just crept up on me and suddenly I had my 50th birthday and everyone was like ‘Oh wow! How are you feeling about it?’ and I happened to have had a fantastic year in terms of just career at the same time of having a huge 50th birthday so it was just a massive compliments of events.”

Will Smith cast as the Genie in live-action reboot of Aladdin

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith has been confirmed as the Genie in the live-action reboot of ‘Aladdin’.
The 48-year-old Hollywood legend’s casting was announced at Disney’s D23 Expo in California on Saturday (15.07.17), where it was also revealed that Naomi Scott, 24, will portray Princess Jasmine and newcomer Mena Massoud has been announced as Aladdin.
It’s not yet known who will portray villainous Jafar, though ‘Peaky Blinders’ star Tom Hardy is said to be in the running as director Guy Ritchie is said to be a big fan of the 39-year-old hunk.
A source said previously: “Guy is a huge fan of Tom’s work and securing him would be a major coup.
“There have been conversations and, although nothing is set in stone and things are subject to change, he’s certainly one of Guy’s favoured choices.
“It just depends on schedules whether he’ll be able to sign up.”
The British director is working on bringing Disney’s classic 1992 animation back to the big screen along with Sean Bailey – head of motion picture production at Disney – and shooting was due to commence on the project in this month.
‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ writer John August has penned the script for the musical movie, which is believed to be non-linear in its structure, something that is a hallmark of Ritchie’s early work such as cult British crime romp ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’.
Following the adventures of the street rat, the story is based on a Middle Eastern folk tale of Aladdin who is granted three wishes by a genie who is captive inside a magic lamp.
The original – which saw the late great Robin Williams voice Aladdin – won two Oscars for the music including Best Music and Original Song for ‘A Whole New World’.
‘Aladdin’ is one of Disney’s most beloved and successful classics earning more than $504 million worldwide and the characters are prominent at the company’s theme parks.
It has also been turned into a hit stage show playing at theatres all over the world.
‘Aladdin’ is now set to start shooting in August.

Rian Johnson had great time making Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson had the “time of his life” making ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The 43-year-old writer-and director has been working hard on the eighth installment of the saga and had a great time because the sci-fi series means so much to him.
Speaking on stage at Disney’s D23 event, where behind-the-scenes footage from the upcoming film was shown, he said: “My friends, whenever I talk to them recently … ask me what the experience was like, I always come back and say I had the time of my life making this movie.
“Part of that is what Star Wars means to me, and what it means to a lot of us.”
Rian was introduced to the audience at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California by Disney chair Alan Horn, who began the ‘Star Wars’ presentation with a tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, who passed away in December.
He said: “I know we were all stunned and shocked that she passed away. She was a very, very special person.
“I know it’s impossible to imagine you could love her more than you already do, but you will really appreciate her performance in this film.”
Rian was then joined on the panel by returning cast members Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, John Boyega, who is Finn, and Gwendoline Christie, who plays the formidable Captain Phasma, and newcomers Kellie Marie Tran as Resistance mechanic Rose, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and Benicio Del Toro as a mysterious character nicknamed D.J..
The group shared some teasers for the film before the footage was shown.
Referring to Gwendoline’s Captain Phasma, John teased: “Finn’s about to have a fight with a formidable opponent ….
“It’s going to be … it’s going to be very, very cool.”
The 38-year-old actress described her Phasma suit as “very empowering”.
And she jokingly added: “But it can also get very warm, so I tend to pop a casserole into there.”
Kellie Marie is elated to have joined the franchise.
She said: “I felt like I got the golden ticket and was Charlie in the Chocolate Factory.”
And she was then teased by the director for saying “pew-pew-pew” while wielding her weapons during filming.
She quipped: “I didn’t remember that you don’t have to say the words you used to say when you were eight.”
Meanwhile, Benicio admitted he had also jumped at the chance to be in the film.
He told the filmmaker: “I saw the original 1977 one when I was 10, so when you called me up and mentioned the title alone, I was like, ‘Let’s go.’ ”

Harry Styles didn’t have to ‘act’ cold while shooting Dunkirk

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles didn’t have to “act” cold while shooting ‘Dunkirk’.
The 23-year-old star makes his long-awaited movie debut as Alex in the new Christopher Nolan-directed war drama and, although he worked hard on his acting skills, he has admitted there were some elements of the film he didn’t have to put much effort into as he was genuinely freezing when he was standing in the water and was going off real reaction.
He explained: “The toughest days were the ones in the water. But at least it meant you didn’t have to act cold. By making it real and having things blow up around you and stuff, you get those natural reactions.”
The One Direction star – who is exploring other things while his band are on an extended hiatus – recently admitted he didn’t have to think about anything “too personal” while he was filming.
He said: “I think for me when I first heard, that Chris was making this film, I was kinda already excited to watch it.
“I think it’s something I’ve always been excited for had I had absolutely no involvement, and I think other than the urge to want to get involved in it and try to you know, try to do anything to be a part of it. I can’t say I really thought too much other than that about it.”
The hunk relished the opportunity to work with Christopher, who is widely recognised as one of Hollywood’s most talented directors.
And the dark-haired hunk said that he and the movie’s star-studded cast, which also includes the likes of Tom Hardy, Sir Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance, all worked towards the same goal.
Harry – who released his self-titled debut solo album earlier this year – explained to Empire magazine: “I think everyone … being on Chris’ set he’s so passionate about it and he’s so infectious.
“He creates this environment where everyone, cast, and crew there’s one focus, and it’s what’s doing the best for him and doing the best for the film and making it as good as it could possibly be, and I don’t think there’s any room to think about anything too personal other than that.
“I feel like everyone has the same goal just to do their part for the film, really.”
