Daniel Mays asked to do I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! every year

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Mays keeps being pestered to do ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actor has admitted he’s approached by ITV bosses when the new series of the creepy-crawly show rolls around every year because thy’re “desperate” for him to take part, but he’s adamant he’d never agree to head out to the jungle.
Speaking to You’re Welcome magazine, he said: “I have been constantly asked to be on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’. But it’s just not for me, I’m afraid.”
And it’s no wonder he has no intention of living in the Australian outback for three weeks because Daniel can’t stand shows ‘The Only Way is Essex’ and ‘Love Island’.
He said: “The growth of reality TV is there for all to see and it’s a worrying thing in many respects. It suggests that these people’s sole ambition is just to be famous and have nothing credible or substantial to back that fame up.”
And the 39-year-old star doesn’t like his children Mylo, 11, and Dixie, four, watching those type of reality TV shows because he thinks they set the wrong example and he wants to encourage his little ones to obtain a skill and work hard for success.
He explained: “I want my kids to aspire to be good at whatever it is in life they choose to do. I want them to work hard, obtain a skill from doing something, whether it’s playing an instrument or whatever.
“There’s nothing worse than being famous for just having fake tan or being with someone you shouldn’t. It’s mind-numbing, but at the same time it can be entertaining in many ways. I just worry that it doesn’t set a good example.
“And these people make a fortune, they earn millions, don’t they? There’s something sort of wrong about that, isn’t there?”

Jodie Whittaker went against other actress for Doctor Who role

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Whittaker went up against other actresses for the titular role in ‘Doctor Who’.
The 35-year-old star had worked with the show’s new executive producer Chris Chibnall – who has taken over the reins from Steven Moffat – on his crime drama ‘Broadchurch’ so people believed it was a no-brainer when he nabbed her for the part.
But the brunette beauty has admitted she wasn’t the only one in the running to play the iconic Time Lord and never expected to add the highly-sought after role to her CV.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, she said: “I remember walking through London after that going, ‘What the f**k?!?’ I was like, ‘I want to audition now!’
“As a young girl, I did not think that ‘Time Lord’ would ever be on my CV. I have no idea who, but I know I was up against other actresses. It was very much that [Chibnall] was auditioning people for the first female Doctor.”
Jodie found out she had secured the role in March and knew instantly that she only had a matter of hours before her life was about to change forever.
She explained: “The morning of the reveal. I was just walking about my street, thinking, ‘Oh, this is so weird. Right now, I’m completely anonymous. I’ve got four hours’ time.’ ”
And it’s hardly surprising that Jodie is nervous ahead of her debut as she’s made history by becoming the first ever female to play the time-travelling alien.
She said: “I’m playing an alien and gender is not a part of that. A moment like this, of being the first woman cast as something, it makes you really think about your sex, whereas actually what you want to do is play a part where your gender is irrelevant.
“I’m woman, I don’t need to play that. And for me, this was the most freeing experience because there’s no right or wrong way to do it. The rules went out the window.”

Mollie King isn’t looking for love on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King isn’t “looking for a relationship” on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The Saturdays singer – who split from her on/off boyfriend David Gandy last year – can’t wait to slip into her sequinned frocks and bust a move on the ballroom and latin show later this month but she has admitted, although the programme has a track record of kick starting romances, she’s not planning on falling for anyone on screen.
Speaking to The Sun’s Dan Wootton in a Facebook Q&A, she said: “There is obviously a track record of people finding love on ‘Strictly…’, but I’ve got too much to focus on.
“I’m not really that girl who’s looking for a relationship, so I wouldn’t be looking for it any more on ‘Strictly…’ than I would if I was on a night out with my girlfriends. I just want to enjoy the whole razzle dazzle of it and hopefully learn to dance a bit more sexier.”
But the 30-year-old beauty has also sparked rumours that love is in the air after she was spotted getting cosy to her fellow competitor Holby City’s Joe McFadden.
She joked: “We’ve already got two ‘Strictly…’ WhatsApp groups on the go. Somebody sent that pic of me and Joe and said, ‘Guys, you didn’t tell us there was a romance.’ I said, ‘Joe, you didn’t tell me either, what’s happening?’ We were in hysterics. It was hilarious that everyone was saying we were flirting.
“When we came off stage we both thought we hadn’t done enough and we should have done more moves, but the pictures looked like we are having a really intense conversation. It’s nothing, but he is completely lovely.”
Mollie is just looking forward to learning some new dance routines and has admitted even if she doesn’t make the final, she will enjoy every moment of the competition.
She explained: “What’s not to love?
“You get a cheeky spray tan and glitzed up ready to razzle dazzle.”

Georgia Toffolo was pooped on by bird on date

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo was “sh*t on” by a bird whilst on a date.
The 21-year-old television personality has admitted she endured an embarrassing moment during filming for ‘Celebs Go Dating’, which saw a bird poop on her right in the middle of a romantic moment.
Speaking to New! magazine about the blunder, the ‘Made in Chelsea’ star said: “Well, in this series a bird sh*t on me in the middle of the date.”
And the blonde beauty has admitted she often has awkward meetings because if she drinks too much alcohol she gets “really political” with the person she is enjoying a date with.
She added: “And I get really political when I’m drunk.”
Toff was also left mortified when one potential suitor asked her to pay because he thought she has “enough money” to afford both parties’ meal.
She explained: “One guy said to me, ‘You’ve got enough money. You can get this one, can’t you?'”
Despite the encounter, the reality star believes her time on the upcoming series has made her “a lot stronger” and has helped her to realise she is not a damsel in distress.
She explained: “I think I have this facade that I’m cute Toff and always end up heartbroken, but this process has showed me I’m Georgia and I’m not this damsel that always gets pied off. That was very hard for me to grasp.
“I just thought I was really, really unsuccessful and I couldn’t figure out why. But it now seems the common denominator was the type of guys I was dating.
“[But now] I feel a lot stronger”.

Ready Steady Cook to return

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Ready Steady Cook’ is set to return to TV.
Chef James Martin – who regularly appeared on the culinary contest in the past – revealed talks are underway to bring back the “iconic” show, which aired from 1994 to 2010, and he’d love to follow in the footsteps of Fern Britton and Ainsley Harriott and host the programme.
He said: “It’s only a matter of time, it might be coming back.
“I think ‘Ready Steady Cook’ is iconic. I think I’d give it a go. It’s a great format.
“I’d be a lot slower now than when I was doing it, cause I’m a lot older.
“People remember that show however old they were. It was the most successful cooking show of its generation.”
The programme saw two teams, each featuring a professional chef and a member of the public, go head to head in the kitchen with a bag of budget ingredients, and James thinks one of the reasons why it was so popular is that it gave viewers at home ideas and tips.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “You learnt something from it as well. I was talking to (fellow chef) Raymond Blanc about this, the night before last.
“We were sat there talking for a couple of hours about food and television and where stuff is going. He’s like me, the chef element of it . . . you want to teach people.
“You don’t really get that teaching part in entertainment shows.”
The former ‘Saturday Kitchen’ star insisted current popular food programmes, such as ‘MasterChef’ and ‘Great British Bake Off’, don’t teach anyone new skills.
He insisted: “They’re not cooking shows. They’re entertainment shows.
“You don’t learn anything from it, or you learn very little from it.
“That’s why they have a budget of millions.
“We don’t. Cooking shows are very different, they’re in a different bracket.
“Entertainment shows have a huge budget with great production values. They’re just very different.”

Great British Bake Off ‘hired script writers’ to make funnier show

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Great British Bake Off’ hired script writers because Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig “were not funny enough”.
The show re-launched on its new Channel 4 home earlier this week but bosses needed the help of comedy writing team Dawson Bros to ensure the presenters – who replaced Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins – created plenty of “laughs”, because there wasn’t enough “natural chemistry” between the new co-hosts.
An insider said: “There just wasn’t the right natural chemistry between them and it was decided there weren’t enough laughs either.
“It’s hugely embarrassing for Noel and Sandi, but the producers and Channel 4 were determined for the show to be perfect and didn’t want to take any chances.”
Sources close to Love Productions confirmed Dawson Bros – made up of brothers Steve and Andrew Dawson and their friend Tim Inman – worked on the programme, but insisted producers wanted to use Noel and Sandi’s material “as much as possible”.
An insider added to The Sun newspaper: “It’s common industry practice to use writers and lots of TV shows do it.
“‘Bake Off’ brought some experienced people on board ahead of the relaunch to try out new ideas.
“But we wanted to use original material by Sandi and Noel as much as possible.”
The show – which features judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith – launched with a peak viewership of 6.78 million on Tuesday (29.08.17) which will have no doubt pleased Channel 4 boss Jay Hunt, who recently admitted she would be “delighted” with such figures.
She said: “If it gets five, six or seven million viewers then I will be absolutely delighted. We’ve been very clear that this show can break even at Channel 4 at about three million.”

Kate Winslet starring in English version of Mary and the Witch’s Flower

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet will lead the voice cast for the English-language version of ‘Mary and the Witch’s Flower’.
The anime movie first opened in Japan in July and raked in an eye-watering $27 million at the box office, and Studio Ponoc hope the translated version will replicate its success with the Oscar-winning actress on board.
It’s the first anime from the studio – which was set up by director Hiromasa Yonebayashi and producer Yoshiaki Nishimura – and the screenplay was written by Riko Sakaguch – based on the 1971 novel ‘The Little Broomstick’ by British children’s author Mary Stewart.
Ruby Barnhill – who is the girl discovered by Steven Spielberg for ‘The BFG’ – will voice Mary with Winslet as evil headmistress Madam Mumblechook.
In the novel, Mary finds an enchanted broom in the woods near her home that takes her across the country and to a wizard school, where she encounters Mumblechook and her accomplice Doctor Dee.
The English screenplay adaptation was written by David Freedman and Lynda Freedman.
‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ star Jim Broadbent, Louis Ashbourne Serkis and Ewen Bremner make up the cast.
The fantasy film is set for release later this year in the US and will make its Australian debut at the Madman Anime Festival in Melbourne on November 3, before hitting the UK in Spring 2018.
The movie will be a change of pace for Winslet, who will be seen next in ‘The Mountain Between Us’, based on Charles Martin’s survival thriller novel of the same name.
The 41-year-old star portrays Alex Martin in the romantic movie and admitted it was “scary” filming in harsh weather conditions in the Purcell Mountains near Calgary.
She said: “As hard as it was, as scary as it was, I really did love it.
“It was quite frightening, but amazing at the same time because of how spectacularly beautiful it was.”

Lord of the Flies to be remade with all-female cast

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Lord of the Flies’ is to be remade with an all-female cast.
Warner Bros. Pictures are adapting the “timeless” William Golding novel about a group of British boys who become stranded on a desert island and are forced to fend for themselves and organise their own mini-society, but directing duo Scott McGehee and David Siegel have decided to replace the key characters with girls to explore how their behaviour would adapt in the same scenario.
Siegel said: “We want to do a very faithful but contemporised adaptation of the book, but our idea was to do it with all girls rather than boys. It is a timeless story that is especially relevant today, with the interpersonal conflicts and bullying, and the idea of children forming a society and replicating the behaviour they saw in grownups before they were marooned.”
The storyline sees the well-educated children descend into savagery with Golding’s three central characters – Ralph, Piggy and Jack – turning on each other, and McGhee hinted that their movie will confront the stigma that boys are more likely to be aggressive than girls.
McGehee added to Deadline: “It shifts things in a way that might help people see the story anew. It breaks away from some of the conventions, the ways we think of boys and aggression.”
A release date and cast are also yet to be announced, but the adaptation has come under fire from critics who say a female director should be assigned and Warner Bros has ignored the central themes of the novel.
American writer and commentator Roxane Gay wrote on Twitter: “An all women remake of Lord of the Flies makes no sense because … the plot of that book wouldn’t happen with all women.”
It’s not the first time the 1954 novel has been reworked for the big screen as director Peter Brook adapted it 1963 and Harry Hook in 1990.

Martin Scorsese’s produced Joker origins movie will be ‘super-dark’

OHMYGOSSIP — The Joker origin story will be “super dark and real”.
Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese is set to produce the origins movie and will be joined on the production team by ‘The Hangover’ helmer Todd Phillips, who is in line to direct the motion picture and co-write a script alongside ‘8 Mile’ scribe Scott Silver, and Phillips has described the film as a “dark Joker”.
Phillips appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and said: “It’s dark. It’s like a dark Joker. As a kid, he had a permanent smile and everyone made fun of him. It’s like on the streets of Brooklyn. It’s super-dark and real.”
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films are in the early stages of putting the film together and it will be the first movie under a new banner which is yet to have been given a name.
While plot details are yet to be revealed, The Joker’s origin story is said to be different than any other iteration of the popular villain.
Jared Leto is set to reprise his role as the character in the upcoming film based around his character and his lover Harley Quinn – both of whom were first introduced in the DC Extended Universe in ‘Suicide Squad’ – but he is not due to play the part in the Joker origin tale as the studio needs a younger actor.
The Joker has been the most represented Batman villain on the big screen.
Jack Nicholson portrayed the Clown Prince of Crime in the 1989 film ‘Batman’ helmed by Tim Burton earning himself a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, whilst the late great Heath Ledger took on the villain in the 2008 film ‘The Dark Knight’, a performance which won him a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

Dave Bautista was stunned watching Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt working together

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Bautista says it was a true thrill to watch Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt act opposite each other in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
The 48-year-old actor stars as Drax in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise and he and the rest of that superhero squad are joining the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ blockbuster.
Bautista had hoped that Downey’s alter ego Tony Stark – who is Iron Man – would get lots of scenes with Pratt’s Star-Lord and his own character Drax and he wasn’t disappointed with the chemistry on display when the scenes happened.
Speaking to Yahoo, the former WWE superstar said: “I’m excited about some of the stuff we did, but I don’t know what’s going to make it in the film. I always thought there would be a lot of good interaction between Tony Stark and Drax, and there was. And Star-Lord and Tony Stark as well. When you put those two guys in a room together, it’s like spontaneous combustion. Talk about two talented guys who are so witty and smart and honed-in on their craft. It was a spectacle, and I’m so excited I got to witness it firsthand.”
The next two Avengers movies have been announced as the end of Phase 4 in the MCU and Joe Russo – who is helming the two movies with his brother Anthony – has promised some shocks for cinema goers.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ will see the hero squad – Iron Man (Downey), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) – join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy top save the Earth.
The two teams will have to work together to fight intergalactic tyrant Thanos, with some help from newcomers Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and the screen debut of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

Patty Jenkins ‘honoured’ by Wonder Woman’s Oscars buzz

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins says the Oscars buzz surrounding the movie is an “honour”.
The superhero film, which stars actress Gal Gadot, was widely hailed by fans and critics when it was released earlier this year, and Patty has admitted to being flattered by the hype that continues to surround ‘Wonder Woman’.
Of the success of the movie, Patty explained: “It’s wonderful, it’s what you hope for.
“You work so hard on [films] for so long, everybody that makes them hopes for success in every way they can possibly get it. So it’s felt very lucky and incredible to get both.”
‘Wonder Woman’ could become the first superhero movie to receive a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards.
And Patty feels understandably proud of how well her film has been received by fans.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, the director shared: “It’s an amazing honour.
“It was never what we thought. You don’t make a movie like this assuming it would happen so, wow, it is an honour.”
Patty is already working with producer Geoff Johns on a ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel.
And the 46-year-old filmmaker has given fans a little insight into what they should expect from the follow-up movie.
She said: “The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you’re really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie.
“The most exciting thing about [the sequel] is literally seeing her loose in the world now, living those classic stories.
“Here’s Wonder Woman, and what can she do? It should be a totally different movie, but a grand and now full-blown Wonder Woman in the world.”

Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder reunite for 3rd film

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder are to star in ‘Destination Wedding’.
The Hollywood stars will team up for a third time after appearing alongside one another in ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ and ‘A Scanner Darkly’, and production has already wrapped on their latest project.
Producer Robert Jones said: “When comedy is seated in character and truth it’s both funny and moving, and on that basis Vic’s screenplay is one of the best I’ve read in a long time.
“Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are wonderfully skilful actors and their chemistry on-screen truly brings these irascible characters to life.”
Reeves and Ryder will portray two unpleasant wedding guests who come together over their mutual misery during the weekend-long event.
Victor Levin has written and directed the forthcoming film, while Gail Lyon and Elizabeth Dell will produce the motion picture alongside Jones, whose The Fyzz Facility is fully financing the film.
Reeves starred as Jonathan Harker in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 movie ‘Dracula’, with Ryder appearing as his character’s partner Mina.
The pair portrayed a couple once again when they reunited for ‘A Scanner Darkly’ 14 years later in 2006.
Reeves played detective Bob Arctor, who went by the codename Fred, with Ryder appearing as his girlfriend Donna Hawthorne.
One of Reeves’ latest roles saw him reprise the part of hitman John Wick for ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ earlier this year and he also played Dr. William Beckham in ‘To the Bone’.
Ryder’s last movie role was in 2015 drama ‘Experimenter’ alongside Peter Sarsgaard, but she is currently appearing as Joyce Byers in popular TV series ‘Stranger Things’.

Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan return to Good Morning Britain

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan will return to ‘Good Morning Britain’ next week.
The pair have been on leave during the summer holidays and were replaced by a number of special guest hosts filling their shoes when they were away, but they’re looking forward to reclaiming their seat on the sofa and presenting the breakfast show.
Susanna said: “After a calm and peaceful break, I’m sharpening my wits and gearing up for being back in the hot seat next to the only man in Britain who could start an argument in an empty room.
“We live in interesting times and it’ll be good to be back in the newsroom bringing events to our ‘GMB’ viewers.”
Piers has admitted he’s “raring to go” – even though he broke three ribs this week.
He said: “Bad news, Britain… I’m back on Monday morning and raring to go like a ravenous leopard.
“Albeit one with three broken ribs. Brace yourselves… It’s going to be lively.”
Regular presenter Ben Shepherd will also be returning on Thursday (07.09.17), hosting the show with Susanna and Kate Garraway on Friday.
He said: “After a summer hunting for ninjas in Manchester, I’ve got a new pencil case, given my shoes a good polish and once I’ve raided the lost property cupboard for my only tie, I’ll be ready for the new term.
“It’ll be good to wake up with the nation again – frankly Mrs S has got very bored of me.”
Piers and Susanna will present ‘GMB’ from Monday to Wednesday, 6am to 8.30am with guests including Caitlyn Jenner, Lulu, Julian Clary, Freddie Flintoff, Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mog and former pro-basketball player and friend of Kim Jong-un, Dennis Rodman.

Lydia Bright was ‘stranded’ in Italy

OHMYGOSSIP — Lydia Bright thought she was “stranded” in Italy.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star was unable to get back home on time after Ryanair allegedly refused to let her and her family board the plane this morning because they’d overbooked the flight and there wasn’t enough available seats.
Taking to her Twitter account shortly after receiving the news at the airport, the 27-year-old beauty ranted: “P1. I have just arrived at the airport with my family to board the @Ryanair flight from Italy to London. I have been informed the flight …
“P2 .. has been overbooked & I can’t board. I have a flight to catch tomorrow morning, which I have been told I won’t make & im stranded ..
“P3 in the airport. This is the second time this has happened to me. Completely ruined my trip @Ryanair & future plans. (sic)”
The blonde babe later added: “Can clearly see @Ryanair has been online and still no reply from my tweets. The customer service online is as poor as it is face to face.”
The low-cost airline denied they’d overbooked the flight and later managed to get the star, her mother, stepdad and sisters on the flight back to the UK.
A spokesperson told the MirrorOnline: “These claims are untrue as this customer boarded the aircraft and flew to London with 7 vacant seats. We apologise for any misunderstanding. Our 131m customers agree, TOWIRyanair! (sic).”
But Lydia still wasn’t happy and was even more annoyed when the company replied to her on Twitter claiming their records had shown she’d boarded without an “issue.”
She fumed: “If the flight wasn’t overbooked, then why wasn’t myself and 4 other passengers allocated seat numbers & prevented from boarding?
“Without an issue!! I wasn’t allowed to board the plane until 2 mins before the already delayed flight departed. I was pacing the airport.
“Trying to rearrange transport for my family, looking into new flights & waiting for somebody to help me. There certainly was a lot of issues. (sic)”

Vanessa White will get ‘stuck in’ on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King thinks Vanessa White will get “stuck in” to the trials on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The Saturdays singer can’t wait to see her former band mate in the Australian jungle later this year because she’s convinced she’ll throw herself head first into the gruelling challenges as she’s not scared of much.
Speaking to Dan Wootton on his Facebook page, Mollie said: “I would love to see her in there [the jungle].
“She would be so good because she’s not that scared of much so I reckon she would be in there with the trials. Oh gosh, that would be so good.”
Although the brunette beauty is yet to sign on the dotted line, it’s believed she’s keen to take part in the show following her split from her boyfriend Gary Salter earlier this year following six years of dating.
A source said recently: “Vanessa is a stunning girl from a massive girl band so she’s an exciting first signing for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ The bosses are super keen to have her.
“She’s still focussing on her music career but is up for the challenge since being newly single.”
It comes after the show’s bosses silenced rumours Mike Thalassitis will take part in this year’s show.
The ‘Love Island’ hunk and his fellow reality star pal Johnny Mitchell were recently believed to be in the line-up to star in the upcoming series of the popular programme, which is presented by comedy duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, but it’s thought neither have been recruited because they will add “nothing new” to the forthcoming season.
An insider said: “We accept that some of the stars of ‘Love Island’ have now become celebrities thanks to the show – but they’re not for us. Viewers have only just recently seen them for seven weeks in a reality show – they’d add nothing new to our show.”
Other stars who have been tipped to fight for the title of king or queen of the jungle include Ryan Thomas, after his brother Adam came in the top three during last year’s show, Rebekah Vardy, Craig Charles, and former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star Danielle Armstrong.
