Arlene Phillips praises Sir Bruce Forsyth

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Bruce Forsyth provided “enormous support” to Arlene Phillips when she was sacked from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former judge was devastated to be let go from the BBC show eight years ago and revealed that the late presenter Bruce – who passed away last month at the age of 89 – reached out to offer his support.
She told the Daily Mail: “He got in touch and was very upset. It meant so much to me. I first met him when his daughter Julie came to the Italia Conti school in London where I was teaching. He was a real family man and a phenomenal dancer.
“I’ll never forget him backstage on Strictly revving himself up like a car engine so that when he went on stage he was full of energy. I think he liked me because I was a fighter, someone that was determined to break the mould. That was what Bruce always wanted to do.”
Arlene, 74, has also praised former head judge Len Goodman for his decision to step down from the panel.
She said: “‘Strictly’s not his life. He’s having a great time with his wife Sue and he’s a grandfather now.
“I’d hate to have to fly between London and Los Angeles [where Len has a £3 million contract with ‘Dancing With The Stars’] every week for 10 weeks. I don’t blame him for leaving.
“The thing is, at least when I was doing the show, there wasn’t a ‘Strictly’ family for the judges. They kept themselves apart. Len and I never really associated and I don’t think Craig Revel Horwood did with him either. Bruno Tonioli travelled to America with him for ‘Dancing With The Stars’ but… Anyway, the great thing about ‘Strictly’ is that the show survives beyond any one person.”

Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger clash over X Factor contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger clashed over ‘The X Factor’ categories.
Sharon revealed that Nicole was unhappy when Sharon got the category she wanted and it led to a conflict between the pair.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Sharon said: “There’s always conflict – that’s what’s so exiting you can’t all smile all the time.
“My conflict is that Nicole wanted my category – and I’m so happy.”
Despite the conflict, Simon Cowell insisted he has no plans to change the judging panel as he thinks the current line-up of him, Sharon, Nicole and Louis Walsh is a winner.
He said: “I have huge respect for these three even though we do fight.
“It has to work for us and it has to work for the contestants.
“And the most important thing on the show is you must have trust from the contestant.
“If they don’t trust you then you’ve got a big long-term problem.”
Meanwhile, Simon believes that ‘The X Factor’, which is currently in its 14th season, has a long future ahead.
He told the Daily Mirror: “If you had asked me years ago how many more years I could do, I would have said if we can get to five more years then we have done well.
“What I have noticed over the last two years, which is a good sign, is that I’m seeing younger and younger kids turn up to the show.
“So I do think it will last a little bit longer than I thought.”
The latest series of ‘The X Factor’ will air on ITV at 8pm tonight (02.09.17).

Jonah Hill clashed with Christopher Mintz-Plasse on Superbad set

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonah Hill clashed with Christopher Mintz-Plasse on set of ‘Superbad’.
The 33-year-old actor, who portrayed Seth in the 2007 comedy movie, has admitted him and his 28-year-old co-star did not get on well as his colleague, who played the role of Fogell in the production, “immediately shut [him] down” and refused to let Jonah speak during filming.
Speaking about the difficulty he faced working on the production, Jonah said: “Chris just immediately shut me down.
“So combative. I was really annoyed because this guy wouldn’t let me say anything.”
And the pair’s fraught relationship was obvious to the rest of the cast, including Seth Rogen, who played Officer Michaels, as well as Michael Cera, who portrayed Evan.
The 35-year-old Rogen said: “Jonah f***ing hated [Mintz-Plasse]”.
The ‘Sausage Party’ funny man has revealed Christopher was “completely disrespectful” of Hill, which he thinks is because of his “lack of experience”.
Seth continued: “He was all over Jonah’s lines, completely disrespectful of the process, probably due to a lack of experience.”
The ‘Juno’ star has revealed Jonah was left “shaken up” after working with Christopher and appeared to look uneasy in his presence.
Michael added: “When [Chris] left, I remember Jonah being shaken up.”
But Jonah’s discomfort around Christopher only fed Michael and Seth’s desire to have the dark-haired comedian on board the production.
Seth explained: “I remember he walked out of the room and Jonah was like, ‘Not that guy.’ And we were just like, ‘Oh my god, you don’t understand how much more that makes us want him’.”
And producer Judd Apatow was also adamant the California-born star was going to be hired for the project.
The creative mastermind said: “I looked at [director Greg Mottola] and said, ‘We have to hire him.'”
Despite the bitterness between the two, the rest of the team tried to “encourage everyone to contribute” to the production to ensure there was a “joint ownership” on the production.
Michael explained to The Ringer Online: “It was a really easy set to be on. It felt like Greg and Evan and Seth and Judd really wanted to encourage everyone to contribute in any way that we wanted. There was no judgment. And I felt really part of a team. It’s not always like that, to feel like you have a kind of joint ownership over what you’re doing.”

Noomi Rapace doesn’t want to be defined by her body

OHMYGOSSIP — Noomi Rapace doesn’t want to be defined by her gender or body.
The 37-year-old actress has portrayed a number of strong women on screen such as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in ‘Prometheus’ and as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’, but Rapace thinks it’s “medieval” to be defined by her sex.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, she said: “Since I started working, I didn’t want to be defined by my sex or body. Why would I? It’s very medieval. When I have a costume fitting or makeup session, it’s like, ‘No, I don’t want to have full makeup in the end of the film if I’ve been trying to survive for 72 hours.’ I’ve been f***ed up, of course I wouldn’t look perfect; I’d be a mess! And all these voices around me are saying, ‘No, we think you look a little bit too rough.’ ”
Noomi also admitted from a young age she made a decision not to pick any roles offered to her based on her looks.
She said: “Being an actress is a world of possibilities. If I corner myself by saying I need to look a certain way, I lose that freedom. I saw this film I did when I was 22 and I was like, ‘Holy…’ I hate what I looked like. And then I said, ‘Noomi, if you’re going to be an actress, it can’t be about what you look like. It needs to be about what’s going on inside you.’ ”
Noomi can currently be seen starring as a set of septuplet sisters in the Netflix sci-fi movie ‘What Happened to Monday’ and she admits that it was “extremely difficult” to portray to so many different people.
She said: “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done: a very long shoot, technically, extremely difficult. It took over my life for five months. But I got to play seven completely different personalities. I didn’t want them to fall into cliches or caricatures: the shy one, the tomboy one, the cute one. So I had different perfumes and playlists for each. When I was changing from one to the other I’d wash off, take the wig off, take the smell off, put on the new smell, the new soundtrack. It was like a ritual.”

IT’s always Pennywise fans for Tim Curry

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Curry still gets recognised as evil clown Pennywise in the TV adaptation of ‘IT’.
The 71-year-old actor starred as the child-killing monster in the 1990 TV mini-series version of Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel and despite his many memorable roles Curry is consistently approached by fans of his terrifying alter ego.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, the English star – who played Dr. Frank-N-Furter in cult classic ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ – said: “I went out to dinner the other night, and I’m currently in a wheelchair because I had a stroke five years ago. And a guy saw me and stood up and said, ‘I’ve seen the original Pennywise!’ And I said, ‘Well, good for you!’ ”
This year will see the release of a new movie adaptation of the book starring ‘Allegiant’ star Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise, with his performance widely praised by those few who have seen early screenings of the horror.
Director Andy Muschietti has revealed that Skarsgard in character terrified his young co-stars on set and Curry he very much frightened Tony Dakota, who played Georgie, during his shoot.
He said: “There’s a classic scene where little Georgie floats his paper boat down the gutter and puts his hand down to try and get it back, and is grabbed by Pennywise, who says, ‘Down here we float…’
“The boy playing Georgie yanked his hand away and said, ‘You’re scaring me,’ And I said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m supposed to.’ ”
Although Curry thought the script was “wonderfully scary”, he admitted he was disappointed by the ending when his mysterious alter ego turned into a “rather unconvincing spider”.
He said: “I read it when I got the role and I thought it was wonderfully scary, because clowns are scary. Pennywise always understood what each character was scared of, and provided it. And I could see what fun it would be to be that scary. They came up with great makeup.
“I was very disappointed by the ending, when I turned into a rather unconvincing spider.”
‘IT’ is set to be released on September 8.

Ludi Lin: Aquaman is like Star Wars underwater

OHMYGOSSIP — Ludi Lin has teased that the ‘Aquaman’ movie is going to be like an “underwater” ‘Star Wars’.
The Chinese actor – who recently starred as the Black Ranger in the ‘Power Rangers’ big screen adventure – has been cast to play Murk in the upcoming DC Extended Universe superhero alongside ‘Game of Thrones’ star Jason Momoa who takes on the titular role as superhero Arthur Curry.
Lin insists fans of comic movies are in for a surprise because unlike the DCEU titles and the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbusters ‘Aquaman’ takes place in a world like no other, because it is mainly set in the undersea nation Atlantis.
James Wan told the cast to imagine it as a self-contained universe much like the world that George Lucas created in his sci-fi space saga.
Speaking to Canadian station Kiss Radio on Wednesday (30.08.17), Lin said: “The thing is, there is so much about ‘Aquaman’ that I have seen so far in filming. There’s so much to this film. The difference between ‘Aquaman’ and the other superheroes in the DC Universe, is that it exists almost in a different world. James Wan, our director, is amazing. He’s described his vision as “‘Star Wars’ underwater” because it is. All the physics are different, their weapons are different, the characters are very unique. It’s just super-cool.”
Lin’s character Murk in the DC comics is the leader of the frontline army of Atlantis known as the Men-of-War and Aquaman’s ally and the actor has revealed his character has gone through “some changes”.
He said: “Murk has gone through some changes, like the Black Ranger really. I like it when people pigeon-hole me because then it gives me a chance to try to break out of it. You put a wall in front of me, I want to try to break down that wall. So, this is Murk and I think he’s going to be pretty different from the original conception. But he’s going to be pretty remarkable as well. It’s been a pleasure working with some amazing people.”
The cast of ‘Aquaman’ boasts a number of Hollywood superstars, including Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Dolph Lundgren.
It is slated for release in December 2018.

Stephen King amazed by IT reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen King wasn’t prepared for how good the ‘IT’ reboot is.
The 69-year-old author wrote the chilling novel about a child killer on the loose in an American town – which was turned into a 1990 TV mini-series starring Tim Curry as terrifying clown Pennywise – back in 1986 and now director Andy Muschietti has reimagined the story to scare a new audience in 2017.
King admits he approached the project with enthusiasm and “high hopes” but he was stunned by how frightening Muschietti’s version is and how terrifying Bill Skarsgard’s portrayal of Pennywise is.
The writer said: “I had hopes, but I was not prepared for how good it really was. It’s something that’s different and at the same time, it’s something that audiences are gonna relate to. They’re gonna like the characters. To me, it’s all about character. If you like the character, if you care, the scares generally work. I’m sure my fans will enjoy the movie. I think they’re gonna really enjoy the movie. And I think some of them will go back two or three times and actually savour the thing.”
‘IT’ follows a group of young children who are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against the evil clown in Derry, Maine, after multiple children go missing.
The surviving children mature into adulthood and are forced to revisit their horrors as one by one they encounter Pennywise again.
Muschietti previously revealed that ‘Allegiant’ star Skarsgard, 26, was so frightening in his full makeup that he freaked out his child co-stars on set.
The filmmaker said: “He didn’t stay in character when the camera stopped, but we did try to maintain distance between him and the kids.
“We wanted to carry the impact of the encounters to when the cameras were rolling. The first scene where Bill interacted with the children, it was fun to see how the plan worked. The kids were really, really creeped out by Bill. He’s pretty intimidating because he’s six-four and has all this makeup.”

Allen Leech joins Bohemian Rhapsody

OHMYGOSSIP — Allen Leech has joined Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
The former ‘Downton Abbey’ actor will star as Freddie Mercury’s personal manager Paul Prenter in the Bryan Singer-directed motion picture, according to Deadline.
Prenter was employed by the late frontman – who died in 1991 aged 45 – from 1977 to 1986 but was later sacked by the singer after he betrayed him by selling stories to newspapers about his lifestyle.
Leech will appear alongside Rami Malek, who will play the talented frontman in the Queen biopic.
Ben Hardy, Joe Mazzello and Gwilym Lee have also joined the cast in recent weeks.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ star Hardy will play drummer Roger Taylor, Mazello is in line to star as bassist John Deacon and Lee will portray lead guitarist Brian May.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ will chart the rock band’s story up to their appearance at the Live Aid charity concert in 1985.
Singer will produce the project alongside Graham King and Jim Beach, and Justin Haythe has written the script.
Production on the movie is expected to begin soon, and the film is due for release on Christmas Day 2018 (25.12.18) in the US.
Denis O’Sullivan, Arnon Milchan and Jane Rosenthal will executive produce the motion picture.

He also appeared in 2014’s ‘The Imitation Game’ opposite the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Charles Dance and Mark Strong.

Gary Oldman’s strong Churchill look

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Oldman looked too much like Winston Churchill during his ‘Darkest Hour’ preparations.
The 59-year-old actor spent a long period of time working with a make-up designer and prosthetic designer Kazhuro Tsuji to transform him into the late UK Prime Minister, and admitted they ended up having to tone down his look because the likeness was “spooky” and he was no longer recognisable as himself.
He said: “There was blood, toil, tears and sweat, just to get me to look a little bit like Churchill.
“There was one look that was even more like Churchill than Churchill — but it was spooky, and there had to be a little bit of me to come through. The idea is to give an essence of the man.
“I wasn’t to be a man with a rubber face.”
After Gary, director Joe Wright and the rest of the team working on the wartime saga were happy with his look, the actor worked with costume designer Jacqueline Durran on his wardrobe and even used Churchill’s tailor and shirt-maker for the outfits.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper columnist Baz Bamigboye, Gary said: “It’s about capturing a flavour, a sense. My girlfriend said: ‘I go to bed with Winston Churchill, but I wake up with Gary.’ ”
The film is set during World War II and explains why Dunkirk happened, but the director felt it was very important to show the politician as a “human being” rather than just his “iconic” leadership.
Wright explained: “We know Churchill the icon. But I wanted the human being, with all his flaws and doubts. It’s important to see that out of doubt comes great strength; and out of despair can come hope. Churchill was vulnerable as well as powerful. That’s what I wanted to come across.”

Natalie Lowe thinks Anton Du Beke should have been Strictly head judge

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Lowe thinks Anton Du Beke should have been head judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The professional dancer – who quit the show this year – has admitted she’s devastated that her friend and former colleague lost out on the role to Shirley Ballas as she was convinced he would’ve been the perfect person to take over the reins from Len Goodman, who left at the end of last year.
The 37-year-old dancer told the Express Online: “I would have liked to have seen Anton there, I think that would have been awesome. But it’s nice to have a Latin expert on the panel.”
Shirley joins returning judges Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood and the dancer, although, who was rooting for Anton, said the talented choreographer is the “right person for this role”.
She said: “She is absolutely one million per cent the right person for this role. However, obviously I love Len and it’s going to be a very different dynamic.
“I can’t honestly tell you how she’s going to work on the panel because, you know, TV changes people. People are telling me you’ll either like her or not.
“I’m not sure how she’s going to play it and I’m not sure how she’s going to be, but I do believe she is so credible and if she’s going to give someone a comment, you know that comment is like, yup.
“She’s the best person for the role.”
Natalie decided to leave the ballroom latin competition show after seven years and is set to start on her own programme ‘Rip It Up’ alongside former ‘Strictly’ champions Jay McGuinness and Louis Smith.
She said: “We’re showing off the amazing music and era and dance and feel and flare of the 1950s.
“We’re doing a Buddy Holly section, an Elvis section; and the amazing thing is we’re taking people on a journey so they can see all the old 1950s clips of just how they lived, in the adverts, which you know is like ‘oh my God’.
“It’s so cool how this show’s been produced, I just think it’s awesome.”

Eamonn Holmes refuses to help wife with dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes refuses to practice his wife Ruth Langsford’s dance routines.
The ‘This Morning’ beauty recently announced she will be taking part in the upcoming series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and, in order to get ready for her big stint, she’s been rehearsing around the kitchen but she’s forced to do it solo because her spouse won’t join her as he doesn’t think she’ll be on the show for very long.
Speaking on this brunchtime show this morning (01.09.17), Eamonn said: “Ruth will go, week one. There’s some big matches that I want to watch coming up soon, I’m not messing around. Take a trip. She was dancing in the kitchen last night. She asked if I wanted to help, but I was reading the newspaper so I said no.”
The breakfast TV legend also revealed to guest and fellow ‘Strictly’ contestant Mollie King that he was concerned they will be the latest couple to fall victim to the show’s curse, which sees competitors fall in love with their professional partners.
He also found out that the contestants on the ballroom and latin show get “up close and personal” with their dancing partners and Ruth admitted she found that bit “really easy”.
However, Eamonn was least than impressed and said: “Hold on. Run that past me again. There’ll be none of that going on! You never told me this. Are you saying it’s quite sensual? It’s alright for you Mollie, you’re single! You never know, I might be a victim of the curse.”
His wife added: “Or a blessing in disguise, as you call it.”
Ruth and Mollie will be joining the likes of Alexandra Burke, Debbie McGee, Jonnie Peacock, Aston Merrygold, Brian Conley and Davood Ghadami on the new series.

Jessica Cunningham’s ‘hard choices’ following death of ex-lover

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Cunningham has had to make some “hard choices” following the death of her children’s father.
The ‘Apprentice’ star was left devastated three weeks ago when she discovered her former partner Alistair Eccles – who is the father of her three daughters – had been found dead at the age of just 35 at an address in Burnley, Lancashire, and she finally broke her silence on social media today (01.09.17) to thank those who have supported her and her little ones through this difficult and heartbreaking time.
Taking to her Instagram account, she wrote alongside a photograph of red balloons in the sky: “The past three weeks have been incredibly upsetting, challenging and full of sadness.
“I want to thank the special souls that have brought light where there was darkness, helped my children to smile when there were only tears and helped them believe there is life after death.
“The strength and support from those closest to myself and my children has given me faith that they will lead as happy as can be and normal lives and that the hard choices Iv had to make have been the right decisions. I feel truly saddened about what has happened as there was so much to live for. (sic)”
Alistair’s death isn’t being treated as “suspicious” but his medical records have been passed on to a coroner to determine how and why he has lost his life so young.
Although Jessica and Alistair had split up a while ago, the pair remained on good terms for the sake of their girls and she has praised him for being a “good” father in the past.
The former pair ran her first fashion business, Famous Frocks, together before Jessica ended their relationship after he was convicted of fraud.
Alistair was found guilty of a scam in 2013 and owned up to money laundering in front of a judge at Preston Crown Court. He received a 15-month jail sentence.

Nicole Scherzinger: Simon Cowell edits The X Factor for his benefit

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Scherzinger thinks Simon Cowell “one million per cent” edits ‘The X Factor’ to “make himself look good.”
The former Pussycat Dolls singer was playing snog, marry avoid with Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh during today’s (01.08.17) episode and has admitted she’d lock lips with the lovable Louis Walsh and tie the knot with Dermot O’Leary but would stay well away from the show boss because he’s manipulative and conniving.
She explained: “I don’t want to avoid anyone, but if I’m going to avoid someone, it’s Simon.
“He knows how to push my buttons guys – he just kills me, I always say all stuff and this ‘yeah finally this is going to make the editing, people will finally understand who i am and what I do, and what I bring to the table ‘ and think in the editing people will finally understand who I am. And then Simon says the exact same thing and ruins it and repeats everything that I say. And then you just hear me saying ‘yahh these guys look really cute.'”
Ranvir asked: “So you think Simon edits the show so he looks better in it than you?”
The 39-year-old beauty swiftly replied: “One million per cent, even Simon will tell you that.”
Meanwhile, the forthcoming series of the singing competition is set to be explosive as Nicole has promised she’ll strip naked and whiz in on a jet ski if bosses give her the best property during the Judges’ Houses round.
She said recently: “I’ll come in naked on a jet ski. Louis [Walsh], are you going to come in naked on a jet ski? Cause I’m going. The only conflict is if he has a better judges’ homes and whatever he has I want that one.”
Nicole will be joined by Simon, Louis and Sharon Osbourne on the judging panel when the auditions kick off at 8pm on Saturday (02.09.17) on ITV.

Megan McKenna ‘worried’ romance won’t last on TOWIE

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan McKenna is “worried” her relationship with Pete Wicks won’t survive on ‘The Only Way is Essex’.
The 24-year-old reality TV star and the heavily-inked hunk struck up a romance last year on screen but over the past 18 months they’ve been plagued with cheating accusations and make ups and breaks but, although they’ve managed to get their relationship back on the straight and narrow following a holiday in Las Vegas over the summer, the brunette beauty is anxious about returning to the ITVBe series because it could all go wrong again.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Friday (01.09.17), she said: “I’m really happy with how we are…
“That break apart was the best thing that could have happened. It is a worry but we’ve started it with a clean slate – any relationship is hard but we do get picked on Twitter.”
And it’s not just Megan and Pete who are hoping fans will leave them alone this time around as their co-star Jon Clark is praying they don’t get as much air time because the show before summer was all about them.
He said recently: “I think people have had enough of the Pete and Megan show.
“It’s time for some of us other cast members to show our personality… you’re going to see a different side to me, like on ‘Love Island’. I was a bit aggy but I’ve learned how to deal with the ‘TOWIE’ situations.”
Meanwhile, although they’re trying to take things slowly this time around, Pete, 28, has been thinking about marriage but is convinced he’ll need a while to save up because his partner wants him to propose with a huge “rock.”
He said: “I never thought about getting married before I was with Megan. [But] like any girl does, she wants a big rock.”

Lucy Mecklenburgh finds exercise ‘horrendous’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Mecklenburgh finds exercising “horrendous”.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star left the reality TV show in 2013 and made a career out of being a fitness guru, but she has admitted she has a love/hate relationship with full-body workouts.
Speaking to Women’s Fitness magazine, the 26 year old said: “It’s my favourite and least favourite because it’s horrendous but it’s amazing. I love short bursts of energy as it gets the pain over quickly. I hate doing things like running, I just find it really dull.”
Although she was an active child, the brunette beauty started to drift away from exercising when she started going out.
She said: “I absolutely loved sports at school. I did a lot of dancing and I was in the netball team. As we all do, I discovered a social life, college, my first job and I just didn’t do anything.”
The ‘Jump’ star also revealed she now has a “balanced” diet but she does let herself indulge of garlic bread or tiramisu from time-to-time.
She said: “Really, really balanced. I indulge at the weekend but in the week I’m pretty good. On the weekend, I’ll relax a bit. Like tonight I’m going out with my friends so I’ll probably have a few glasses of wine and I’ll probably have some chips on the side with dinner. You’ve got to keep yourself sane.”
Although Lucy quit ‘TOWIE’ in 2013, she still has fond memories of her stint on the programme but she insists it is a part of her life that is now over.
Asked if she’d ever go back, she said: “Probably not.
“I love the show and it was a massive part of my life, but I don’t see myself going back. That chapter of my life has closed now.”
