Gemma Atkinson almost turned down Strictly Come Dancing over nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson nearly turned down ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ because of stage fright.
The 32-year-old actress has revealed despite growing up on screen, the fear of being live on television on the BBC One ballroom and Latin dance competition originally put her off joining the show.
She spilled: “I didn’t say yes straight away. In fact I almost turned it down.
“I was worried about “Strictly’ throwing me back into the spotlight and I was scared of performing live on TV each week in front of 12 million people.
“I’ve been in huge shows like ‘Emmerdale’, ‘Causality’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ but I’m used to pre-recording everything.”
It will be the first time the blonde beauty has done live recordings in more than a decade after she gave up theatre due to her crippling anxiety.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I actually stopped doing live theatre about 10 years ago because It is so nerve-racking, but I’ll have to get over that.”
Gemma says she would have been foolish to say no as she would have regretted it.
She added: “After two weeks they chased my agent for an answer.
“My mum told me It was such an amazing opportunity and I would be silly to turn it down.
“I always think it’s better to do something and it go wrong than regret not doing something and never knowing, so I said yes.”
Meanwhile, the fitness fanatic is under no illusion that her impressive body will give her an advantage over lifting the glitterball trophy against the likes of Ruth Langsford, Aston Merrygold, Brian Conley and Debbie McGee.
She said: “I’d like to think I’m fit enough to do it but I don’t have any dance experience at all so that’s not going to be enough to get me through.”

Matt Damon is the ‘greatest actor’ George Clooney has known

OHMYGOSSIP — George Clooney has hailed Matt Damon as the “greatest actor” he has “ever” worked with.
The 56-year-old actor has praised his ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ co-star as being the most talented star he has worked with and even “seen” in his entire life, and although the silver fox has racked his brain to think of a star better than the 46-year-old he can’t think of anyone “better”.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, the ‘ER’ heartthrob said: “Matt’s the greatest actor I’ve ever worked with. In fact, I don’t know a better actor I’ve seen in my life. I’m trying to think if there’s a better actor. Nope, there’s not a better actor. No, there is not.”
The ‘The Martian’ star has also credited George for his professionalism in the entertainment industry, and believes George is “over prepared” for the projects he takes on, although he has hinted he wouldn’t want his pal to be any other way.
Matt said: “It’s not the first time I’ve worked with the wonderful and talented and brilliant George Clooney. He does things that other directors just can’t do. He pays me in cash daily. You just don’t see others doing that at this level. He’s fantastic. I’ve done a bunch of movies with him as a producer, as a writer, as an actor, as a director and it’s why I keep coming back. He’s over-prepared.”
Although George directs Matt in the crime film ‘Suburbicon’, it is the ‘Jason Bourne’ star who advises George on parenting.
The Kentucky-born filmmaker – who has two-month-old twins Alexander and Ella with his wife Amal – explained: “Now that I’ve got kids, Matt gives me direction.
“I’m a mess. But [Amal] is like an Olympic athlete. You’ve got two kids, you’re breastfeeding like crazy. I’m very good, by the way, at diaper changing.
“This is an all-new adventure for me … [Fatherhood] has made me much older. It doesn’t fundamentally change you, but I’m excited to see who these two people are going to be in life. I’m very proud to be [a dad]. I feel honoured to be a part of it.”
Although George is “honoured” to be a father, he never thought he’d be married with children.
He said: “Honestly, I didn’t think I’d be married with two kids. The world changes! I love being here [in Venice, where he married Amal]. It’s a magic, improbable city.”

Will Smith: It’s rare for a ‘black dude’ to play a ‘racist’

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith thinks it is rare for a “black dude” to play a “racist” on screen.
The 48-year-old actor is set to star in the lead role of LAPD officer Scott Ward in the upcoming fantasy movie ‘Bright’, and has admitted he found it “really bizarre” that his character was given the prejudice trait, as it was new territory for him to be on the “other side” of racism.
‘Bright’ takes place in a world where human lives alongside fairytale creatures such as orcs and elves, and rather than showing racism between humans, the movie explores the tensions between people and creatures.
Speaking to Empire magazine about the movie, he said: “As a black dude you just don’t get a lot of movies where you’re a racist. It’s rugged and powerful and really bizarre for me to be on the other side of that.”
And the ‘Hitch’ actor wasn’t the only star who struggled with his role, as his co-star Noomi Rapace couldn’t get to grips with wearing contact lenses and a false set of teeth when she first took on her role, although she soon adapted.
She explained: “I was fighting against the contact lenses and teeth at the beginning. But it’s amazing how quickly you adapt.”
Meanwhile, director David Ayer believes the production is a “daring movie” because it involves “fantasy creatures” who have to also juggle a normal life where they care for their families.
The 49-year-old creator explained: “It’s kind of a daring movie. It has all these fantasy creatures, but they still pay their bills on time, love their families and try to live their lives. It becomes this incredible template to study the social issues we’re having right now.”
‘Bright’ is being produced for Netflix, and is expected to land on the platform in December this year.

Ben Mendelsohn intimidated by Steven Spielberg

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Mendelsohn felt intimidated by Steven Spielberg when he first started working with him on ‘Ready Player One’.
The 48-year-old actor stars in the upcoming sci-fi movie – which is being helmed by the 70-year-old filmmaker – as Nolan Sorrento, and has admitted he struggled to hold the Hollywood legend’s eye contact when the pair first met because he was so star struck.
Speaking about their encounter to Empire magazine, the ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ star said: “I got very excited and nervous. I found it hard to look him in the eye. Steven’s created a lot of legendary pop culture. The canon is so huge and so awesome. I love ‘Saving Private Ryan’. I love ‘1941’. I’m very, very partial to ‘Poltergeist’, with the girl and the television and the lovely little spirit lady. Part of the joy of Spielberg doing this film is to be able to play in this referencing of pop culture, of which he is a substantial contributor.”
Mendelsohn has admitted he felt fully “immersed” in the virtual reality world after he played on a virtual reality gaming device to prepare for his role in the science fiction production.
Speaking about his experience on a simulator, he said: “I found myself immersed.
“You’re in a house and there are goblin-type dudes coming towards you as the lights go out. I’d hear a noise and look over and there’d be some beast that’s advanced.”
The movie will also star the likes of Simon Pegg as Ogden Morrow, Mark Rylance as James Donovan Halliday, and T. J. Miller as i-R0k, as well as 20-year-old Tye Sheridan in the lead role as Wade Owen Watts.
‘Ready Player One’ is slated for release on March 30 2018.

Gal Gadot believes she shares the same characteristics as Wonder Woman

OHMYGOSSIP — Gal Gadot felt she could “relate” to Wonder Woman.
The 32-year-old actress portrays the titular character of Diana Princess of the Amazons in the fantasy film, which was based on the DC Comic, because the protagonist was “not perfect” and was an “open character”.
Speaking about her role in the hit movie, which saw her star alongside Chris Pine, Danny Huston, and Connie Nielsen, she said: “What I love about this character is she’s not perfect. She allows herself to show her flaws. She’s this open character. So I think this is something that I relate to. I’m a person who’s very open. I love people.”
Although the brunette beauty – who has five-month-old daughter Maya and five-year-old daughter Alma with her husband Yaron Versano – thinks she possesses similar traits to the superhero figure, she has admitted she doesn’t “enjoy” to show her flaws or “weaknesses”.
She told CinemaBlend.com: “I wouldn’t say that I enjoy showing my flaws but I don’t mind showing my weaknesses to the outside world because each and every one of us has their own weaknesses and flaws.”
And Gal has revealed she only displays her emotions because she thinks it is “natural”, and wants to feel “comfortable” with her feelings.
She added: “So for me it’s natural, and the more we feel comfortable with it the more lovely it is.”
Meanwhile, Gal is set to reprise her role as Wonder Woman with a follow-up movie ‘Wonder Woman 2′, which is believed to hit the big screens in two years’ time in December 2019.
But fans of the fashion and beauty icon will not have to wait too long to see Gal don her warrior attire as she is set to make an appearance in ‘Justice League’, which is slated for release in November this year.

Jonathan Ross made a ‘massive, massive impact’ on John Bishop’s career

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Ross has made a “massive, massive impact” on John Bishop’s career.
The 50-year-old comedian has credited the 56-year-old chat show host as being his biggest inspiration, and has revealed after he appeared on Jonathan’s eponymous programme ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ for the first time he became more popular.
Speaking on the ITV channel, which was aired on Saturday (02.09.17), the funny man said: “I remember coming on your show when I first started and to be honest with you, your show made a massive, massive impact on my career.
“I was on tour at the time doing little venues and literally the week after, the sales went up so you kind of got a sense that if you’re represented properly on something, it can make a big deal.”
John also hosts his own talk show ‘In Conversation With …’ and has admitted he wanted to have “the opportunity” to converse with one individual on their own.
Speaking about his project, he said: “The idea of being on a show and having a chat, that’s one thing but I wanted to do something where you’d have one person and talk. It’s basically what people do.”
And with the programme John has noticed he has been able to uncover a “completely different” side to celebrities, including Katie Price.
He explained: “We’ve just edited the Katie Price show and like everybody else, I’ve got an idea of Katie Price but when you sit down with her and you talk for an hour, you find a completely different person with a different narrative.”
However, stand up comedy will always be John’s “first love”.
He explained: “It’s the first love. It’s a lovely, lovely thing and it’s the thing you can never get bored of.”

Ryan Thomas lands role in Neighbours

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas is reportedly set to star in ‘Neighbours’.
The 33-year-old actor, who played the role of Jason Grimshaw in ITV’s longstanding soap ‘Coronation Street’ for 16 years, is rumoured to be jetting off across the globe to star in the Australian show.
Although details of Ryan’s upcoming venture have remained under wraps, it is rumoured he will portray Raphael in the programme.
And there are high hopes for the dark-haired hunk’s arrival in Erinsborough.
Speaking about the Manchester-born star’s latest project to The Mirror Online, a source said: “Ryan’s news may come as a bit of a surprise but people are confident he’ll make a big splash on ‘Neighbours’.
“He’ll bring his ‘Corrie’ fans with him and earn a new legion of fans along the away.”
Although Ryan is keen to go down under and start shooting, he is currently having to wait for his working visa.
The insider explained: “He is just waiting on his visa. Then he’ll be moving to Australia to film the show.”
Since Ryan – who has eight-year-old daughter Scarlett with his former partner Tina O’Brien – left the cobbled streets of Weatherfield behind him in 2016, he has been desperate to have a “complete change” in his career and was eager to break into Hollywood because he felt he needed to be taken out of his “comfort zone”.
Speaking previously about his career plans, Ryan – who is currently dating former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ beauty Lucy Mecklenburgh – said: “Going to Hollywood is a dream so I’m going to see what happens. We can always dream.
“I wanted a complete change after leaving ‘Coronation Street’. My agent’s in London, my meetings are there and many of my friends, too. I’m also going to do some drama classes there.
“I’ve only ever had one job. I need to start from the bottom and start learning my craft. I want to be tested and taken out of my comfort zone. I need to do auditions and be rejected for roles – rejection is so much part and parcel of this business, but I’ve never experienced it.”

Davina McCall opens up about ageing

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall feels “better” in her body than she did one decade ago.
The ‘The Jump’ presenter is fast approaching her 50th birthday, which she will celebrate on October 16, and while the star had an “issue” about reaching 40, she feels more at ease with hitting the milestone next month because she is feeling happier as she matures.
Speaking to The Sunday Mirror’s Notebook magazine, the brunette beauty said: “I had a bit of an issue turning 40, it felt much, much older than being 30, but I guess I really do feel better than I did 10 years ago. It can’t possibly be true that I’m feeling better as I’m getting older, but I am.
“The really big stuff all happened in my 30s – I had three kids, I got married,
life was absolutely crazy. I turned 40 and it was just all the stuff that comes with having a family, it was about having a normal life. Now my kids are a lot more independent, I think my 50s are about rediscovering me.”
And the former ‘Big Brother’ host has noticed a difference in her appearance too as she has got older, and she has claimed her skin has started to get “more wrinkly”.
She added: “And also by becoming happier with myself in my head, I’m able to look at things and be much more relaxed about them and be a bit softer on myself and others. My skin might be getting more wrinkly, but I’ve compensated by being happier.”
Davina – who has Holly, 16, Tilly, 13, and Chester, 10, with her husband Matthew Robertson – plans to celebrate her special day in style with a big blow out at London’s nightclub Café de Paris with “700” friends.
Speaking about the upcoming bash, she said: “I’m doing a massive club night on my birthday at the Café de Paris with 700 of my closest friends and we’re all going to go mental! I’ll be on the water of course. I know, it’s so boring, but I haven’t had a drink for years.”

Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz reunite on screen

OHMYGOSSIP — Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz kept their personal and professional lives totally separate while filming ‘Loving Pablo’.
The couple – who are married in real life – play drug lord Pablo Escobar and journalist Virginia Vallejo in ‘Loving Pablo’ and Javier revealed they were careful not to bring the dark subject material home with them after a day on set.
Speaking to E! News, Javier said: “One of the joys, and the fun of what we do, is to create. We were very careful [during shooting] to make sure we kept that joy and that we keep being able to create and use our imagination.”
Explaining that he and Penelope – who previously worked together on ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ – kept their on and off-screen relationships totally separate, Javier added: “In this movie I think both of us learned more than ever to do that, because it was necessary for us to be able to get back to ourselves. To go back home and have a life. And actually it was easy. It was fun and I think we both made a little step towards growing up as performers because instead of stepping around things we really went there. We protected ourselves by being the characters, not by bringing them to us.”
The new movie is based on a book Virginia wrote about falling for the criminal and Javier welcomed the chance to show a human side to Escobar.
He said: “Thanks to all the documentaries and films, we know more about Pablo now than we ever have before. When I started to dig into this character almost 10 years ago, he wasn’t as much in the public eye. I was attracted to this movie because it’s about what’s in his mind, how he could have that greed when he basically had it all.
“I wanted to portray a real Pablo Escobar, because that’s the scary part. He was a human being, he was not a machine, he was not an idea, he was a person.
“It’s very different than playing a psychopath. For example, Anton Chigurh in ‘No Country for Old Men’, he’s a psychopath. He’s not at all interested in any emotion, and that makes him very, very scary and dangerous. But I think the person who feels empathy, the person who feels love and at the same time does those bad things, is even scarier and even more dangerous.”

Seann William Scott has ideas for Stifler American Pie spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Seann William Scott has ideas for a Stifler spin-off movie.
The 40-year-old actor starred as foul-mouthed party boy Steve Stifler in the hit comedy ‘American Pie’ and the subsequent sequels with a highlight of his story arch being his rivalry with Paul Finch [Eddie Kaye Thomas] – who ended up losing his virginity to ‘Stifler’s Mom’.
Scott’s last appearance as his alter ego came in 2012’s ‘American Reunion’ but the star believes a movie showing Stifler in his 40s still acting in the same irresponsible way would make for a great comic film.
Speaking to Forbes, he said: “With these franchises you never know, you never can tell. It would be pretty funny to see Stifler in his 40s, still being the exact same guy, it could be hilarious. I’ve had some ideas but I don’t know. Truthfully, I feel like Stifler did get his perfect revenge by sleeping with Finch’s mum but it could still be really funny to see Stifler as this sad, male stripper just dancing for dollar bills.”
The massive success of the first film – which was released in 1999 – resulted in three direct sequels and four spin-offs and was responsible for a string of other teen-focused comedies such as ‘Road Trip’, which also starred Scott.
Scott credits the ‘American Pie’ films for making him a global star and he will forever grateful for Stifler.
He said: “To be honest, not since the ‘American Pie’ films have I done a movie where still, to this day, have people always coming up to me and wanting to talk about it.”
Scott is currently starring in another sequel to one of his popular movies ‘Goon’ and hopes that if fans respond well to ‘Goon: Last of the Enforcers’ it could lead to the return of Stifler.
He said: “Hopefully, people will respond to it and then I’ll do another ‘American Pie’ movie.”

Paul Bettany joins Han Solo spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Bettany has joined the Han Solo ‘spin-off movie.
Director Ron Howard revealed the casting news by sharing a picture of Paul, 46, on his Twitter page and writing: “”The Outer Rim just got a little bit wilder #PaulBettany #ForceFriday. It’s my third opportunity to work with Paul. He’s a blast and so talented.”
Ron, 63, and Paul have previously worked together on ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
Meanwhile, Michael K. Williams was recently cut out of the untitled Han Solo movie.
The 50-year-old actor’s commitment to ‘The Red Sea Diving Resort’ and TV show ‘Hap and Leonard’ meant he was unavailable for the reshoots new director Ron – who was brought on board following the departure of Christopher Miller and Phil Lord – wanted for his version of the film, so it was decided to drop his unnamed half-human, half-animal role from the project completely.
He said: “I felt great about what I created with the directors that I worked with.
“We created a kick-ass character, in my opinion. I’m proud of it. When Ron Howard got hired to finish out the film, there were some reshoot issues that needed to be done in regards to my character, in order for it to match the new direction which the producers wanted Ron to carry the film in.
“And that would have required me on a plane a month ago to London, to Pinewood, to do reshoots. But I’m here, on location in Africa. It’s scheduling.
I’m not going to be back on the market until the end of November after ‘Hap and Leonard’, and for them to wait that long for me, that would have pushed back the release date, which I believe is in May 2018. They wanted me now; I couldn’t go. So they had to clip-clip-clip.”
The ‘Han Solo’ spin-off movie is set to follow a younger version of the titular character, with Alden Ehrenreich taking over the iconic role from Harrison Ford.
Han and his wookiee sidekick Chewbacca will be seen first meeting Lando Calrissian – played by Donald Glover – and they will also encounter Woody Harrelson’s alter ego Beckett, who is believed to be a mentor to young Han who guides him on his journey to becoming a space smuggler.
‘The untitled Han Solo film will be released in May 2018.

Lotan Carter offers love advice to Kieran Hayler

OHMYGOSSIP — Lotan Carter is offering Kieran Hayler love advice.
Although the ‘Big Brother’ star was romantically linked to Kieran’s estranged wife Katie Price, who he calls “gorgeous”, he has reached out to Kieran to help him cope with the split.
Lotan, who called off his engagement to Elizabeth Ellison earlier this year, told The Sun Online: “I don’t know why we keep getting linked! But I feel really sorry for her.
“When two people that love each other can’t make it work it’s a sad situation.
“Kieran will be devastated.
“I’ve never actually met the guy but we have mutual friends and if he wants to reach out and talk to someone, I’m there.
“I don’t want to pass judgement on him but I can empathise massively with what he’s going through having just ended something big myself.”
When asked if he plans to make a move on Katie, 39, now that she is single, Lotan said: “She’s not even single yet! She’s not even started the divorce yet!… She is gorgeous but it’s a bit soon!”
And he is still getting over his failed engagement, as the wedding was due to take place last week.
He said: “I was supposed to get married last week, but I called it off when I realised I needed to spend time on myself.
“So I’m single again.
“It’s a sad situation. I hadn’t cheated or anything. I ended it because the relationship wasn’t right.”

Nicole Scherzinger unsure about X Factor future

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Scherzinger may not return to ‘The X Factor’ next year.
The 39-year-old star was the last judge to sign up for the show this year and admitted she is unsure of her future on the panel because she wants to focus on her music.
She told The Sun: “I never know, I never know. I was last to sign on, because I know that when I commit, I commit fully.
“Does that make sense? I go all in. I don’t know what I’m going to do next year.
“I don’t even know what I’m going to do the next couple of months before the live shows start.
“But I have an idea of what I want to do and that’s music.
“I always want to do music.”
And Nicole, who has previously won the show with her artists Matt Terry and James Arthur, is happy that the schedule is more relaxed this year so she has time to focus on her music.
She said: “It is a little less rigorous, so that does allow me to put a little more of my focus on myself as an artist and maybe get back in the studio.”
Meanwhile, Nicole’s fellow judge Louis Walsh has promised that the show has been given a “new lease of life” this year.
He said: “It’s a whole new vibe to ‘The X Factor’. It’s like a new TV show. Honestly, it’s got a new lease of life.”
However, there is one thing that he believes could make it even better; bringing Sir Elton John in as a guest judge.
He said: “Elton would be brilliant and funny and bitchy. He’d have an opinion on everything – and he loves music. I think he would be amazing. But he kind of makes fun of the show… even though I think he secretly watches it.”
‘The X Factor’ returns to ITV tonight (02.09.17) at 8pm.
