Sir Bruce Forsyth remembered on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Bruce Forsyth was remembered as ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returned to screens on Saturday (09.09.17).
The legendary entertainer passed away in August at the age of 89 and he was honoured by his ‘Strictly’ family during the launch night of the BBC One show, where Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman and the four judges – Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell – teared up as they gave their tributes to Bruce.
Speaking in a video tribute, Tess said: “I’ll never forget the first ‘Strictly’ back in 2004 and I was so nervous working with this TV legend. I told him [I was nervous] and he said, just walk towards me and give me a little twirl.”
And the blonde beauty was visibly upset as she watched the professional dancers perform a beautiful tribute to Bruce to ‘Fly Me To The Moon’.
Elsewhere in the show, the celebrities found out who they would be dancing with. ‘Hollyoaks’ star Gemma Atkinson was the first to find out her partner as she was paired up with Aljaz Skorjanec whilst Debbie McGee will dance with Giovanni Pernice. Chizzy Akudolu was teamed up with Pasha Kovalev whilst ‘This Morning’ presenter Ruth Langsford will dance with Anton du Beke. JLS’ Aston Merrygold was partnered with Janette Manrara whilst Reverend Richard Coles will dance with new girl Diana Buswell.
‘EastEnders’ hunk Davood Ghadami and Nadia Bychkova will dance together whilst chef Simon Rimmer has been partnered with Karen Clifton. Charlotte Hawkins is set to take to the ‘Strictly’ dancefloor with Brendan Cole and Mollie King will fight for the Glitterball Trophy with her professional partner AJ Pritchard. Susan Calman will dance with Kevin Clifton and Alexandra Burke has been partnered with Gorka Marquez. Jessica Chastain isn’t Lilandra in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Chastain has denied rumours she is to play Lilandra Neramani in ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’.
The 40-year-old actress will have a role in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie, but whilst she won’t reveal her character’s identity just yet, she has told fans that she isn’t going to playing the Empress of the Shi’ar Empire.
In the comments section of an Instagram post which expressed her excitement at seeing a rainbow on the first day of principal photography for the movie, she wrote: “Hey folks, want a scoop? Im not playing Lilandra….. (sic)”
The news comes after Jessica previously teased she would be playing an important, villainous role after she told co-star James Franco that she would make him cry on set.
Alongside a picture of herself and James on her Instagram account, the 40-year-old star wrote: “Hey @jamesmcavoyrealdeal you ready for me up in Montreal? Im gonna make you cry so hard (sic)”
‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ is being directed by Simon Kinberg in what will be his directorial debut after having penned the scripts on four ‘X-Men’ movies in the past.
Simon will also co-produce the feature alongside former director Bryan Singer, Hutch Parker, and Lauren Shuler Donner.
Meanwhile, Sophie Turner is to reprise her role as Jean Grey in the adventure – which will focus on the psychic hero’s alter ego Dark Phoenix – after she first played the character in 2016’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’
‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ will be one of three ‘X-Men’ related films released in 2018, including ‘Deadpool 2’ and teen-orientated ‘The New Mutants’.
The film is believed to take place in the 1990s and will be inspired by ‘The Dark Phoenix Saga’, the most popular X-Men story of all time, and is set to be released in November 2018.

Joanne Froggatt says Downton Abbey movie would be ‘tricky’

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanne Froggatt thinks it would be “tricky” to make a ‘Downton Abbey’ movie.
The 37-year-old actress – who played maid Anna Bates in the popular period drama series – admits she and her castmates are all keen to reunite for a big screen venture but it would be very difficult to arrange because there are so many people’s schedules to consider.
She said: “It’s been tricky. There has been a lot of goodwill from all of us, but logistically it’s a bit of a minefield.
“It’s very difficult to get all 22 actors together. But if we can, everyone would like to do it.”
While the ‘Liar’ star has been scouting for work in America, she’s not expecting to land a Hollywood blockbuster because she doesn’t think she has the right image.
She explained to the Radio Times: “I’m not a big-budget Hollywood type. They want the model type, classically beautiful and I’m not.”
While Joanne had been working for years before landing her role in ‘Downton’ – which won her a Golden Globe two years ago – she admits the show changed her life completely.
She said: “‘Downton Abbey’ has changed my life. Having opportunities to do amazing things like tour the White House came from doing that show and I’ll always be grateful.
“I’d already been working for several years when I got the role of Anna, so I know I can’t take anything for granted.”
And the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress will never forget being shown around the White House by then-President Barack Obama, who was a huge ‘Downton’ fan.
She said: “It was incredible. We went to the Oval Office and the Situation Room. There was no situation, so it was OK. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say we were in there…”

Jordan Vogt-Roberts praises Godzilla Vs. Kong

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan Vogt-Roberts has said ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ will have the same “sensibility” as ‘Kong: Skull Island’.
The 32-year-old filmmaker helmed the recent blockbuster reboot of the popular creature movie franchise, and is pleased the upcoming crossover movie – which is slated for release in 2020 – will follow a similar structure when it comes to creating the titular colossal ape, despite the project being helmed by Adam Wingard.
Speaking to Collider.com, Jordan said: “Talking to Adam made me so happy because he, in particular, really understands the kind of anime, manga, mech sensibility that I was trying to bring to Kong. He gets that and that was something that I fought so hard for and was so difficult to sort of realise to life through concept to execution with ILM [Industrial Light and Magic].
“That’s one of the things I’m most proud of with him. I think he truly gets that and he truly wants to lean into this version of Kong that kind of was borne from my crazy and stupid video game brain.”
Jordan’s attachment to his vision of the 100 foot ape comes as he said earlier this year that he was “proud” of the movie he has created.
He said: “I’m very proud of how this looks and I’m very proud of what the set pieces are and I think there’s a lot of stuff where audiences will walk out and feel like ‘I’ve never seen that before.’ There’s stuff that’s just pretty bonkers, and I’m excited about that.”
Meanwhile, Jordan believes the “most challenging aspect” of making the movie was ensuring the audience would leave the theatre feeling as though the project was “worth their time”.
He said: “I think the most challenging aspect was just making sure we deliver for audiences. That we give them something the feels fresh, where you go to the theatre every day and think ‘Was it worth it?’. In a world of on demand everything, we need to make sure that we give them an experience that feels like it was absolutely worth their time.”

Liv Tyler reveals why she nearly quit acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Liv Tyler almost quit acting when she had an identity crisis.
The ‘Gunpowder’ actress was very confident when she was younger, but reached a point a few years ago where she suddenly found herself feeling “insecure” and questioning everything about herself, even whether she was happy with her career.
She said: “[There was] a moment where I had a weird little point. I felt I knew myself very well when I was young, but there was this moment in the middle when I felt very insecure, very shy and I wanted to hide away from everything. I didn’t feel like I had the answers any more. There was a moment when I was questioning if I even wanted to be an actor at all.”
Liv – who has son Milo, 12, from her marriage to Royston Langdon and Sailor, two, and Lula, 13 months with fiance Dave Gardner, as well as caring for her partner’s 10-year-old son Gray – turned 40 earlier this year and she’s feeling very comfortable with her age.
She told Red magazine: “Honestly, I haven’t thought about it too much. And I don’t feel 40. I mean, in that way you imagine when you’re a kid that 40 is going to feel.
“If anything, age is amazing. To know yourself much-better. That’s an amazing feeling.”
To celebrate her birthday, Liv’s friend Kate Moss threw her a party at her Cotswolds home and the low-key bash was exactly what she wanted.
She said: “It was really sweet. I just wanted to be with my family and a couple of my best friends and have a garden party in the afternoon and just be together.
“I didn’t want a massive … rave-type thing. I don’t like the pressure of planned parties. I love it when it happens by accident.
“It’s probably the New Yorker in me, where you might go to dinner with friends, then end up in some amazing basement on the corner, drinking whisky and there’s a brilliant juke box.
“And I don’t really like lots of attention, so the idea of a big birthday party just made me feel stressed out.”

James Martin: Stop moaning about Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — James Martin wants people to “stop moaning” about ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The 45-year-old television chef is sick to death of people complaining about the Channel 4 baking competition, which recently moved from its home with the BBC and underwent an overhaul with its cast after Mary Berry, Mel Geidroyc and Sue Perkins left the show to be replaced with Prue Leith, Sandy Toksvig, and Noel Fielding.
After imploring people to “stop moaning”, James added: “Do you know what I mean? There’s more to life in the world that’s going on. There’s a lot going on in the world – look at what’s happening with Japan and North Korea, and what’s happening in America and everything else. I mean, put it in perspective for God’s sake!”
However, the former ‘Saturday Kitchen’ host does have some nice things to say about the programme, as he thinks new judge Prue – who has joined returning cast member Paul Hollywood on the judging panel – is doing “an amazing job”.
He said: “Prue did an amazing job. A good format will stand the test of time. It’s a TV show, it can move from channel to channel. People will find it. If they don’t like it, they’ll find something else.”
‘Great British Bake Off’ isn’t James’ only gripe with the TV cooking scene either, as he believes there’s “too many” chefs on our screens these days.
He argued: “There’s too many of us now. When I first started there were about eight of us doing it, now there’s bloody 108. There’s loads of them – winner of this, second of this, third of this and seventh in this competition- they’re all doing it now.”
His biggest pet peeve, however, is food bloggers and YouTube stars who “preach” about healthy eating without actually being doctors or cooks.
The ‘Saturday Morning with James Martin’ host told RadioTimes.com: “All of a sudden they’re preaching about health food and telling people what to eat. I don’t agree with that. You’re not a doctor so keep your mouth shut. You’re not even a cook. I don’t know what you are!”

Gemma Atkinson wants Strictly Come Dancing romance

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson is hoping to find romance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 32-year-old actress is set to take part in the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition which returns to screens on Saturday (09.09.17), and has said she isn’t worried about the infamous ‘Strictly’ curse – which has seen a number of couples break up after appearing on the show – as she thinks finding love would be a “blessing”.
She said: “I’ve been single for ages so there wouldn’t be any curse for me. It would be a blessing.”
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star admits it isn’t all as romantic as looks on screen, and she was “mortified” when she was forced to get up close and personal with her mystery dance partner – whose identity will be revealed in the first episode – before she even got a chance to get to know him.
She said: “Being forced to be face-to-face with someone you’ve just met is mortifying. It sounds all lovely. But it’s like doing a scene with one of your mates at ‘Emmerdale’. On camera it looks good, but when you’re in it and doing it, it’s awkward.”
Gemma also revealed she went on an intense training course to prepare her body for the skimpy dance outfits, which she says are heavier than they look.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “They don’t look it, but when you put them on they are surprisingly heavy with the sequins. It’s extra weight to carry around but it’s fine.
“And yeah, I’ll be self-conscious about showing off my body. But we’ve tried two on and they’re beautiful.
“I had assumed the costumes were re-used every year. However, everything is fitted and made to measure so that all of us, no matter our shape, size or height, look really good in them.
“It’s just difficult going to the toilet because we’re all sewn in, so we’ll have to not drink as much.”

Sharon Osbourne: X Factor winners are one-hit wonders

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne has slammed ‘X Factor’ winners for being one-hit wonders.
The 64-year-old television personality is currently on the judging panel for the ITV singing competition, but that doesn’t mean she necessarily believes in the show as she claims those who win the programme find their music careers “dead and gone” almost as soon as they have started.
She said: “They’ll do a single or an album, people will buy it and then they won’t buy another one, so it is dead and gone.”
And Sharon thinks the draw of the show is more about viewers “getting invested in people”, rather than about the music.
She added: “It is about people getting invested in people. They get invested in a couple of these contestants and they will see it through. There is another one and another one, it is sort of like candy.”
It isn’t just ‘X Factor’ that Sharon took aim at either, as she also slammed fellow singing competition ‘The Voice’, which was snapped up by ITV last year after being dropped by the BBC.
She told US radio station SiriusXM: “I don’t think there has ever been a hit worldwide that has ever been on that show. Because that show is about the panel. They say it is about the contestants, but really it’s not.”
Her comments come after she recently claimed she wouldn’t say mean things to vulnerable contestants on the show, as she fears it could send them “over the edge”.
She said: “I met this 28-year-old girl in the treatment centre who had auditioned for the first season of ‘American Idol’.
“She was overweight and a really bad singer and they used her little audition to promote the show.
“People were laughing. And then they used the clip over and over and it affected this girl so deeply that it basically changed the course of her life. She was used and it sent her over the edge…
“I never mentioned her to anyone, but it really made me think about the effect these shows can have on people. I honestly don’t want to be mean to anyone who isn’t strong enough to take it.”

Ruth Langsford: I’m too fat and old for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruth Langsford fears she’s “too fat and too old” to do well on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 57-year-old television presenter is set to take part in the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition which kicks off on Saturday (09.09.17) and has said she’s been plagued with fears that her body is too out of shape to do well, and has thought “every negative thought possible” in the run up to the show.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: “The nerves have started very badly for me. I had a real jitter. I got up very early yesterday and did that thing of, ‘err, what day is it? Where am I supposed to be?’
“Then every negative thought I could possibly think about doing ‘Strictly’ suddenly was there. I was thinking I haven’t trained enough, I’m too fat, I’m too old, I’m too busy, I can’t do it. I had to get up because I got myself in such a state.”
The ‘This Morning’ presenter’s worries can’t have been helped by bookmakers giving odds of just 66/1 for her to win the show, but she insists she’s not bothered by the figures as she says there’s nothing to base them on.
She added: “They don’t know who everybody is yet and they haven’t seen me dance, so I don’t really know what they are basing that on. Actually it doesn’t even worry me as the whole thing is a competition and an entertainment show. I am determined to enjoy it.”
And Ruth knows she isn’t the only one feeling the nerves before the show’s launch either, as fellow her contestants – which includes the likes of Gemma Atkinson, Brian Conley and Mollie King – have told her they too are feeling “jittery”.
She said: “We were all on the WhatsApp group and I said: ‘I’m not sure about everybody else, but I’m feeling very jittery’. Then suddenly everybody else was going, ‘yes, I am a bit too!’.”

“I didn’t even ask Danielle to marry me, but luckily she said ‘Yes’ when she saw the ring – and then she started crying too.”
Jake and Danielle have been dating for almost three years, after meeting at the ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!’ wrap party in 2014, which Jake starred in with her dad.

Darren Aronofsky’s ego is in all his films

OHMYGOSSIP — Darren Aronofsky admits his “ego” is in all of his films.
The 48-year-old filmmaker’s new movie is the psychological horror ‘mother!’, which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem.
Aronofsky has admitted every film he has done is a “projection” of his life.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, the filmmaker said: “It’s my projection of my life and what I’m thinking about.
“But my ego is in every character in every film that I’ve made. I’m the ballerina in ‘Black Swan’. I’m the wrestler in ‘The Wrestler’. I can see how people will especially make the connection with this one. But it’s also all fiction; it’s all smoke and mirrors. And if anything, my empathy here is more with the mother. I’m probably more Jen’s character than I am Javier’s.”
The plot focuses on Lawrence’s unnamed character whose home is overrun by endless uninvited guests and stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris.
When it debuted at the Venice Film Festival it was greeted with boos and many have said it is a confusing film but Aronofsky said it is “OK to be confused”.
He said: “I think it’s OK to be confused. The movie has a dream-logic and that dream-logic makes sense. But if you try to unscrew it, it kind of falls apart. So it’s a psychological freak-out. You shouldn’t over explain it.”
Aronofsky has a number of acclaimed movies under his belt including ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Requiem for a Dream’ and he can remember every detail of shooting them.
He said: “I love it. Shooting movies, I love it. Those are the times in your life that you really remember.
“I remember, crystal-clear, shooting certain scenes in ‘Requiem for a Dream’, right down to the shirt I was wearing on a particular day.
“And it’s still so sharp, you know, because you’re alive, because your brain’s firing. Because you’re living, right there, in that little moment.”

Jeremy Renner cried watching Arrival

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Renner cried after watching ‘Arrival’ for the first time.
The 45-year-old actor starred alongside Amy Adams in Denis Villeneuve’s 2016 sci-fi movie, and Renner admitted he “ran out of the theatre” and “sobbed” inside his car after seeing the finished story.
Speaking to The I Paper, he said: “I ran out of theatre, jumped in my car, sobbed and drove home.”
‘Arrival’ deals with the loss of the child of Louise Banks (Adams) as she leads a team of investigators when spaceships arrive at 12 locations around the world.
Although best known for his performances as William Brandt in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise and as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Renner insists he is in touch with his emotional side.
He has admitted that he broke down while shooting scenes for his latest movie ‘Wind River’ – in which he plays Fish and Wildlife Service agent Cory Lambert alongside Elizabeth Olsen as an FBI agent with the pair trying to solve a murder on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
Talking about his on-set tears, Renner explained: “It became a barrel of water that slow-leaks, seeping out, and I had to run with that, because I couldn’t hold in the emotion.
“I come from that kind of school where guys don’t cry. It’s not acceptable. I realise that’s a silly way to live, but it was an interesting inner struggle for the character, and I realised that what I initially intended to do was not going to be the truth. So I let it be what it was; I didn’t fight it.”
Renner will reprise his role as Hawkeye in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers 4’ and although the plot for the fourth movie has been kept quiet, he has teased that they will be separate adventures.
He said: “They are two very, very different movies.”

Bill Skarsgard reveals IT caused him ‘nightmares for weeks’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Skarsgard had nightmares for “weeks” after he finished filming ‘IT’.
The 27-year-old actor stars as the iconic horror villain Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the new Andres Muschietti-directed movie, and he’s revealed the film continued to haunt him even after the shoot wrapped.
He shared: “It was weird. I really enjoyed myself doing it, but the day after we wrapped, I went back home to Stockholm, Sweden, and it’s always a weird experience when you work really hard on something and then you go back to regular life at your childhood home.
“And that’s when I finally realised what an impact the character had had on me. For the following two weeks I would have these really disturbing dreams about Pennywise.
“It was very strange, it was almost like a really slow exorcism to completely let go of him.”
Bill likened his post-filming experience to ending a “very destructive relationship”.
Explaining the scenario to non-actors, he told PEOPLE: “The closest thing I can liken it to is being in a very destructive relationship, because you never really realise you’re in one until you’re out.
“And then as soon as you’re out of it, you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I can see it all so clearly now.’ Doing characters is almost like being in a relationship with a made-up person, and you don’t really see the journey clearly until it’s over.”
Despite the subsequent nightmares, Bill insisted he relished his time on set.
He said: “I did have so much fun with the character, and I’m really looking forward to getting back under that clown make-up for the sequel.”

Colin Firth: I’m not a ‘believable’ action hero

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Firth doesn’t think he’d make a “believable” action hero.
The 56-year-old star has revealed he has no intention of making a Liam Neeson-like transition into action films, because he doesn’t think he’s suited to the genre.
He shared: “After the first [‘Kingsman’], there were some offers like that.
“But I realised very quickly that you’ve got to get the context right – with someone like me, anyway.”
Despite the success of the ‘Kingsman’ movies, Colin cannot imagine audiences accepting him as an action hero on an “earnest basis”.
He told Digital Spy: “I’m not just a guy who’s believable if I showed up in just any action context and started doing roundhouse kicks. It worked because it was implausible, and the humour was pitched right.
“There’s just enough of a send-up for people to be able to accept it. If I tried to go in as a badass on an earnest basis, I’m not going to get away with it.”
Meanwhile, Colin also revealed the original ‘Mamma Mia’ is one of his favourite movies of all time, despite the criticism it received upon its release in 2008.
The Hollywood star quipped: “I saw a journalist actually changed colour when I said that was one of my favourite things I’d done, because I think it doesn’t pass the snob test very easily.
“But I do think it is incredibly unusual to find a piece of entertainment that hits common ground. Because, frankly, it doesn’t matter what you think of ABBA – you know it.
“Certainly, if you’re my age, you grew up with it playing somewhere, or wherever. When I failed my exams or got dumped by my girlfriend. It wasn’t on my terms, but it was playing on some jukebox.”

Priyanka Chopra: I was told I was ‘too ethnic’ for a movie role

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra was once told she was “too ethnic” to appear in a particular movie.
The Indian actress is currently one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood, but Priyanka has admitted her transition from Bollywood to the American movie industry was not a seamless process at all.
She shared: “When the opportunity came my way [to work in America], I saw it as an opportunity to break the ceiling for actors that look like me.
“Once I was asked not to be a part of a cast because I was too ethnic … I didn’t realise how hard it was until I came to North America.”
Priyanka, 35, also revealed her strong-minded nature has cost her movie roles.
The ‘Baywatch’ star explained that because of her outspoken views, she has been cut from films by directors.
Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, the actress said: “I’ve had people take away films from me because I might not have agreed with them.”
Meanwhile, Priyanka recently revealed she used to use “skin-lightening cream” as a teenager, because she was “very conscious” about her appearance.
The winner of the Miss World 2000 pageant explained that despite her enviable good looks, she still fretted about her appearance during her younger years.
She shared: “I had a lot of self-esteem issues. I was very conscious of the colour of my skin. I was very conscious of being, like, a super-gawky, skinny teenager.
“A lot of girls with a darker skin hear things like, ‘Oh, poor thing, she’s dark’. In India they advertise skin-lightening creams: ‘Your skin’s going to get lighter in a week.’ I used it [when I was very young].
“[In] India, because there you’re prettier if you’re fairer … I’m, like, dusky.”

Rian Johnson reveals Luke Skywalker is the ‘last Jedi’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson confirmed Luke Skywalker is the “last Jedi” in the galaxy.
The 43-year-old filmmaker helms the upcoming eighth instalment of the ‘Star Wars’ space saga, and as soon as the new title ‘The Last Jedi’ was announced, fans have constantly speculated who the character is.
However, Johnson has now revealed that Luke – played Mark Hamill – is the titular character.
He said: “It’s in the opening crawl of ‘The Force Awakens’.
“Luke Skywalker, right now, is the last Jedi. There’s always wiggle room in these movies – everything is from a certain point of view – but coming into our story, he is the actual last of the Jedi. And he’s removed himself and is alone on this island, for reasons unknown.”
‘The Last Jedi’ is set to feature a number of returning cast members, including John Boyega (Finn), Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Andy Serkis (Snoke), Domhnall Gleeson (General Lux) and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia, while Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran are all newcomers to the franchise.
Johnson also previously revealed Han Solo will still have a major part in the plot of ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
Harrison Ford’s iconic space smuggler character was shockingly murdered by his own son Ben Solo – known as Kylo Ren – in the 2015 movie ‘The Force Awakens’, but the director thinks it was important to still retain his “figurative ghost”.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in August, he said: “A figurative ghost of Han had to be present throughout this entire film.”
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will hit screens on December 15.
