Paddy McGuinness hasn’t spoken to Freddie Flintoff in months

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness hasn’t spoken to former ‘Top Gear’ co-star Freddie Flintoff in 10 months.
The pair co-hosted the BBC show alongside Chris Harris it was axed following Freddie’s devastating crash on set in December 2022 and Paddy admitted that he has not been in touch with the former cricketer in some time.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Paddy said: “We were all there for him when it happened, and he got back to us all immediately after, but it’s gone quiet since then.
“Who knows what he must be going through. I still see his wife and we still chat, and we have the same barber, and it’s all lovely.
“I messaged Fred recently saying, ‘Look, I can’t begin to think what you’re going through but rather than me bombarding you with loads of messages, which can be annoying, if you can’t be [bothered] with that, I’m always here. I hope you’re well and please God, I’ll see you soon’.
“You just can’t begin to put yourself into his shoes. No one can know what’s going on in his head.”
Freddie suffered a serious crash in 2022 while filming ‘Top Gear’. He was left with several broken ribs and severe facial injuries and the BBC cancelled the rest of the ‘Top Gear’ series after the incident.
And, despite reports that Freddie was a “nervous” driver, Paddy insisted he loved doing the stunts.
He said: “Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond made that show what it was, it went to the next level with those three.
“I did the Clarkson bit of heavy-lifting in the studio, Chris [Harris] is definitely the best driver and Fred was always the one into doing something dangerous.
“Fred wasn’t a nervous driver. If you look at him on ‘A League Of Their Own’, he’s always the one doing something a bit tasty.
“Fred and I weren’t pro drivers, but we are better than your average driver, you have to be on that show, but there were things where we’d be, ‘Oh hold on a minute, can we get a bit more training on this?’ if we were nervous.”

Paddy and Christine McGuinness in no rush to divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness says he and wife Christine still “love each other” following their split.
Paddy, 50, and Christine, 35, separated 18 months ago but still live together in the family home with their three children and have no immediate plans to divorce.
Paddy told The Sun newspaper: “I am very protective of Christine and our children.
“The fact that we can still live together, we never argue and there’s no toxicity in the house, says it all really.
“We have separate bedrooms because we respect that we aren’t together any more but, whether we work it through or we don’t, what we do have is a really, really lovely family unit at home.
“We both love each other.
“Sometimes I forget we’re separated and I suppose it must be strange for people looking at it from the outside in.
“We still hug, and we’re still messaging and phoning each other every day, we’re just not jumping into bed together any more.”
Paddy and Christine tied the knot in 2011 after two years of dating and he compared their amicable split to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s “conscious uncoupling”.
He said: “Yep, we’re the Chris and Gwynnie of Cheshire.
“Just not as wealthy, and with fewer hit records and Hollywood films behind us.
“If you can do it like that, it’s the best way, there doesn’t need to be toxicity.
“There is more laughter and love in our house than arguments.
“The only time we have a slight disagreement is when lawyers are involved, when it comes to matters of divorce.
“The reality, though is that I don’t think either of us are in a rush to get a divorce.”

Coleen Nolan quits smoking after terrifying health scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan has finally quit smoking after a terrifying health scare.
The ‘Loose Women’ star – who was a smoker for over 40 years – revealed she gave up cigarettes in December after being left unable to breathe.
She told The Mirror: ““I literally couldn’t walk a few feet without stopping to catch my breath. It was the scariest thing, feeling constantly winded. After ‘Loose Women’ one day, our warm-up guy Lee insisted on taking me to see a doctor, who put me on antibiotics. Being a typical woman and mum, I kept saying I’d be fine.
“I met [partner Michael Jones] outside the hotel and by the time we’d gone up in the elevator and walked a few paces to my room, I was gasping and trying to say that I couldn’t breathe. I had a full-scale panic attack and the more stressed I got and the more I cried, the less able I was to breathe.
“I genuinely thought ‘I’m going to die in my hotel room, away from home’. It was really frightening. The whole thing lasted two minutes but it felt like an hour.”
Coleen, 58, made an appointment with her doctor the following day.
She said: “He knows I smoke and told me I could be looking at COPD and emphysema. The message was, if you carry on smoking, this is what will happen. I thought: ‘What the hell am I doing?’ I want to be around for as long as I can for my kids.
“I was going to bed at night, saying to Michael, ‘I’ve got COPD or lung cancer… what an idiot!’ When I went back to get the results and was told my X-ray had come back clear, it was a massive relief. My chest will probably never recover but hopefully quitting will mean it won’t get any worse. I felt like the universe was saying ‘This is your last chance’.”
Coleen shares daughter Ciara, 22, with former husband Ray Fensome, and sons Shane, 34, and Jake, 31, with her first husband Shane Richie.

Apprentice star fired by Lord Sugar after record-breaking task

OHMYGOSSIP — Onyeka Nweze became the latest candidate to be fired from ‘The Apprentice’ this week, following a record-breaking task.
The chartered company secretary from London was axed from the BBC One business show after Lord Sugar decided she failed to properly explain her team’s business ethos in the latest challenge.
In the boardroom, he told her: “Onyeka, the lack of not explaining the ethos is also a very, very serious thing. You are culpable in as much as the failure is concerned…
“Onyeka, you’re clearly a charming and highly intelligent lady, and I appreciate that you’ve done your best throughout the course of this process, but on this occasion it simply wasn’t enough.
“So, it is with regret that Onyeka you’re fired.”
The latest challenge saw the two teams, Nexus and Supreme, tasked with launching a new Formula E team, before pitching for sponsorship.
Nexus eased to victory after gaining sponsorships worth a staggering £38.7 million, the largest sum in the show’s history.
Onyeka admitted her firing took her by surprise.
Speaking in the taxi home afterwards, she said: “Big shock. I wasn’t expecting it but look it is what it is.
“It’s happened and I’ve got to take it on the chin.”
Prior to the series launch, Onyeka was hoping Lord Sugar would make his first tech business investment in 18 series, and insisted he “needs [her]” if he wants to make some “serious money”.
She said: “If Lord Sugar is ready to make some serious money, then he needs me.
“He’s never invested in a tech business, now is the time.”

Hollyoaks cut to three episodes a week

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hollyoaks’ is being cut to three episodes a week.
The soap – which moved to a digital first approach last September after moving from Channel 4 to E4 and streaming only – will lose two episodes from September this year, with network bosses hoping the change will “enable the show to cut through more powerfully with fewer, higher impact episodes”.
The news comes as Hannah Cheers was confirmed as the soap’s new Executive PRoducer, having been interim showrunner for the last six months.
She said: “’Hollyoaks’ offers a unique proposition: bold, escapist, relatable, youth-skewing and multi-generational stories, told in its innovative and technicolour signature style. The show continues to bring people together by making them feel something, and everything. Approaching its 30th anniversary in 2025, ‘Hollyoaks’ matters just as much now as it did at its trailblazing launch.
“There may be speculation about the future of Continuing Drama, but as someone who was brought up on the nation’s soaps – and remains a true fan – I believe their value must not be underestimated.
“Soap audiences grow up alongside their favourite characters over a period of many years; the investment in their stories is huge. The genre’s ability to initiate important conversations is unparalleled, especially when it all comes served up with joy, humour and jaw-dropping twists. I want future generations to experience that.
“I am honoured to lead ‘Hollyoaks’ into its fourth decade on Channel 4 and drive the vision of this transition.”
It is believed the change could lead to around 135 jobs, a third of the staff working on the programme, being lost.
Kate Little and Claire Poyser, managing directors of production company Lime Pictures, said: “Evidently there are implications that will mean we have to reshape ‘Hollyoaks’ production model and amidst the buoying news for the future of the show and its audience, we must also acknowledge that a reduction in cast and crew, will be very difficult and we will support everyone in that process.”

James Gunn announces name change for Superman: Legacy

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn has announced a title change for ‘Superman: Legacy’.
The 57-year-old filmmaker was “overjoyed” to have started filming on the project, which will kick off a reboot of the DC Universe under the guidance of him and Peter Safran, on Thursday (29.03.24) and used the occasion to reveal the movie will now simply be titled ‘Superman’.
Alongside a photo of what appeared to be a close-up of the Superman suit, he wrote on Instagram: “Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday.
“When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy.’ By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.(sic)”
The movie will star David Corenswet as the eponymous superhero, opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as the villain Lex Luthor, with Skyler Gisondo, Anthony Carrigan, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillon and Isabela Mercad also part of the cast.
James hosted his first table read of the script last week and Rachel admitted it was “pretty amazing” to hear the words out loud.
She told Variety: “It was pretty amazing. Some of us met for the first time. Some of us got to see each other again. It was amazing to hear the script out loud.
“As with all of these films, there’s a lot of action sequences and things.
“So to hear the pacing of the film and to get to hear these characters occupied by the actors who play them is really fun. It’s also a great group. You can’t ask for more than that when doing something like this.”
The ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ actress couldn’t be happier about her casting.
She said: “I have always loved Lois Lane. She’s smart, ambitious and can be funny. She knows she’s the smartest person in the room more often than not.
“When the opportunity came on…I’m such a fan of James Gunn from afar…we’re still finding these characters. We haven’t started shooting yet. You’ll meet the final version of them.”

Emily Blunt ‘in talks to join The Smashing Machine’ alongside Dwayne Johnson

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt is in talks to join ‘The Smashing Machine’.
The 41-year-old actress is said to be in negotiations about appearing in the movie opposite Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who is to play MMA fighter Mark Kerr.
According to Variety, Blunt is in talks with A24 about portraying Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples, in the motion picture.
The movie is to be directed by Benny Safdie – one half of the sibling duo that helmed the acclaimed picture ‘Uncut Gems’ – in his solo directorial debut.
Should Blunt sign up for the project, it would see her reunite with Safdie, who she starred alongside in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’, and she would appear opposite Johnson once again after co-starring with him in 2021’s ‘Jungle Cruise’.
In December, it was revealed Johnson is to play the two-time UFC Heavyweight champion.
Safdie has written and directed the movie, and has been working with Johnson on the film since 2019.
Kerr’s rise through the fighting world and an addiction to painkillers that led to an overdose were detailed in the 2002 HBO documentary ‘The Smashing Machine’, a nickname he earned as a result of his fighting style.
The motion picture will also see Johnson return to his roots as he famously started his career as a professional wrestler and was a key figure in the success of WWE at the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s.
A24 are financing the film and will produce alongside Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions company.
The company’s Noah Sacco said: “Dwayne and Benny are singular talents, and their shared vision for Mark’s inspiring story is electrifying.
“We are deeply honoured to have their trust as collaborators in bringing this incredibly special project to life.”

Denis Villeneuve had to include ‘epic quality’ in Dune: Part Two

OHMYGOSSIP — Denis Villeneuve needed to add an “epic quality” to ‘Dune: Part Two’.
The 56-year-old director has helmed the sci-fi sequel and explained that a different approach to the first film was needed as guerrilla warfare between Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and House Harkonnen takes place.
Denis told IndieWire: “It’s the nature of the story. For the first movie, we are following Paul, who is discovering a world. It’s more mediative, more contemplative, more him in contact with the elements.
“And for the second one, he becomes a man, a guerrilla fighter falling in love, and wants to avenge his father, and it’s more of an action movie. We are confronted with the guerrilla warfare and the technology of the opponent. That will transform the old story and transform it into a war zone.
“So I had to add that epic quality. It was necessary to go there. There was no other way to approach that. I tried to make it as contained as possible in some ways, but I had to have that feeling of grandiosity and spectacle at the end.”
The movie was shot in brutal heat in the desert and Denis took an exacting approach to the scenes, particularly one where Paul rides a sandworm to prove his manhood.
The ‘Arrival’ filmmaker said: “Everything that we shot in the deep desert was not easy, because I wanted a level of realism that required us to create giant structures or shadow makers in order to make the light believable.
“The characters and all the action sequences required a tremendous amount of prep, and logistics to protect the crew from the heat and to protect the stunts.
“The one scene that I didn’t want to compromise at all was the worm ride. It technically required a lot of time and research and development. That was by far one of the most complex things I’ve ever done.”

Will Forte gutted about non-release of Coyote vs. Acme

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Forte is devastated that the “incredible” ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ will not be released.
The 53-year-old actor had been due to play Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer in the live-action/animated hybrid movie featuring the Looney Tunes characters and has publicly expressed his disappointment after getting to watch the flick that was shelved by Warner Bros. last year.
In a message to those who worked on the movie, Will wrote on social media platform X: “To the Cast and Crew of ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ – I know that a lot of you haven’t gotten a chance to see our movie. And sadly, it’s looking like you never will.
“When I first heard that our movie was getting ‘deleted’, I hadn’t seen it yet. So I was thinking what everyone else must have been thinking this thing must be a hunk of junk. But then I saw it. And it’s incredible.”
Will added: “Super funny throughout, visually stunning, sweet, sincere, and emotionally resonant in a very earned way. As the credits rolled, I just sat there thinking how lucky I was to be a part of something so special. That quickly turned to confusion and frustration. This was the movie they’re not going to release?”
The former ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast member hates that the studio will not release the film but still considers the picture to be “magnificent” nonetheless.
Forte said: “Even when a movie tests very well (like ours), there’s no guarantee that it’s gonna be a hit. And at the end of the day, the people who paid for the movie can obviously do whatever they want with it.
“It doesn’t mean I have to like it. Or agree with it. And it doesn’t mean that this movie is anything less than magnificent. You would be so proud of it – a movie that should be seen, but won’t.
“Please know that all the years and years of hard work and dedication and love that you put into this movie shows in every frame. That’s all folks.”

‘It was so cruel!’ Amy Dowden hopeful of Strictly return this year after missing 2023’s series

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden hopes to return to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ later this year, after admitting it was “so cruel” not being able to take part in last year’s series.
The 33-year-old pro dancer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, was recently declared cancer-free after a nine-month battle with the disease.
Amy, who underwent several rounds of chemotherapy and a mastectomy, was too unwell to compete in last year’s series, but she has set her sights on returning to the dancefloor later this year.
Speaking on ‘BBC Breakfast’, she said: “This is the longest I’ve never danced for since May, so I need to get my body back into it.
“Obviously my body has been through so much with chemo so it’s building up gradually, but I’ve missed it so much.”
Amy returned to the ‘Strictly’ studio last year to support her fellow pro dancers, but admitted it was “bittersweet” because she couldn’t compete for the Glitterball Trophy herself.
She said: “I used to go and support them and it was bittersweet.
“I was supporting my best friends, but I didn’t want anything more than to be on that dancefloor. It was so cruel.
“So that’s the aim, is that they’ll have me back, to be back on that dancefloor with my best friends doing what I love most later this year.”
Last week, Amy took to social media to tell her followers she was cancer-free.
She wrote on Instagram: “NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet!
“I won’t be getting the all clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.
“So grateful for all the care I received and continue to have.
“To my husband, family and friends who supported me unconditionally and to you guys! Thank you! (sic)”
Amy will still need to undergo treatment, but she’s now looking forward to the future with a renewed sense of optimism.
She said: “I will still need a monthly injection for 5 years and regular check ups.
“Chemo and this past year has certainly took its toll on my body both physically and mentally, so I’ll be taking the next few months to heal and recover.
“I have so much to strive and live for, and so grateful for another chance at life! Something I know not all get. I certainly see life differently and my life has changed forever!
“Cancer affects too many so I will continue to do all I can to raise awareness and make sure I get as many as I can to #checkthemselves.
“It’s time to look ahead after what’s been the toughest year, and one I certainly didn’t expect!
“Dance floor I’m coming for you! Welsh love, always Amy x (sic)”

Goodbye Pike! Dad’s Army legend Ian Lavender laid to rest after his death aged 77

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dad’s Army’ star Ian Lavender has been laid to rest.
The legendary TV actor, who was best known for his role as Private Pike in the classic sitcom, passed away last month aged 77, and he was the last surviving cast member of the series.
Several stars, including ‘Benidorm’ actor Tim Healy, and musicians Rick Wakeman and Alfie Boe, turned out at his funeral at St Mary’s Church in Woolpit, Suffolk on Thursday (29.02.24) to pay their respects.
Ian’s film director son Sam Lavender paid tribute to his late father during the service, and Rick and Alfie performed a rendition of ‘Bring Him Home’.
The actor’s coffin featured a claret and blue scarf – the colours of his favourite football team, Premier League giants Aston Villa – as well as a beret worn by his ‘Dad’s Army’ character Pike.
The ‘Dad’s Army’ theme tune was also played on the church organ.
Last month, a post on the Dad’s Army Radio Show’s X account announced Ian’s passing.
A statement posted to the social media site read: “We are deeply saddened to hear the passing of the wonderful, Ian Lavender. In what truly marks the end of an era, Ian was the last surviving member of the Dad’s Army main cast. His wonderful performance as Private Frank Pike will live on for decades to come.”
Ian was just 22 years old when he was given the role of Pike, and starred in all 80 episodes of the iconic British comedy.
It followed a group of elderly Home Guard local defence volunteers at the outbreak of World War II, and also starred Arthur Lowe, Clive Dunn, and John Le Mesurier.
The statement added: “He leaves behind a legacy of laughter enjoyed by millions. We will dedicate this year’s tour to his memory.
“Our thoughts and love are with Ian’s wonderful wife Miki, their family and close friends.”
The sitcom concluded in 1977 and Ian went on to star as Bertrand Hepplewhite in ‘Parsley Sidings’, and made guest appearances in ‘Yes Minister’, ‘Keeping Up Appearances’, and ‘Goodnight Sweetheart’ throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
From 2001 to 2017, he played Derek Harkinson on and off in BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ for more than 200 episodes.

Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb reveals breast cancer scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie J. Robb suffered a breast cancer scare last year.
The 49-year-old actress plays Moira Barton in ITV1 soap ‘Emmerdale’, and amid a storyline which has seen Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) diagnosed with the disease, Natalie told how she found a lump in 2023.
She has now urged others to keep checking their breasts.
Speaking on a behind-the-scenes ‘Emmerdale’ segment shown on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “Like myself, I had a scare last year. I found a lump in my right breast and when I went in to see the doctor, he said he was more concerned about the one on my left.
“I had absolutely no idea! Even though you’re feeling for things, you’re not really sure how to do it properly. So that’s why it’s so, so important.
“Luckily for me, they were benign. Be aware and check the boobies!”
Meanwhile, her co-star Lisa Riley – who stars as barmaid Mandy Dingle on the soap – also reminded viewers they need to be vigilant, because she lost her own mum Cath to the disease in 2012.
She said: “What’s so important about is storyline is how early Chas found the lump, thanks to Dr. Liam.
“Me, personally, in my own family, my mum was an ostrich – she put her head in the sand. She thought it was something that would go away. It won’t go away, and you can’t be like that.
“My mum wasn’t that lucky. That’s testament to why we’re doing what we’re doing.
“I just hope that it’s gonna make more awareness, people are talking more and women are not afraid to check themselves. By checking yourself, you’re gonna save your own life!”

Martin Lewis to join This Morning as a guest host

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Lewis is to guest-host ‘This Morning’.
The 51-year-old businessman is normally seen on the ITV1 magazine programme dishing out financial advice to viewers, but on Monday (04.03.24), he will join former ‘Big Brother’ star Josie Gibson, 39, to present a full episode of the show.
He wrote on X: “I’ve been expert-ing on
@thismorning for 21yrs – in recent times usually from home. Well I’m going in on Monday… because having mentioned off-hand to the producers last week that I’d like to present it ONCE (bucket list thing), they said come on and give it a go! (sic)”
Martin joked he has “no idea” if he will be any good in his new role, but thinks it will be “fun” to give it a go just before Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley take over as the full-time hosts.
He said: “No idea if I’ll be any good at it, especially the less serious bits, but it’ll be fun to try – before the proper new dynamic duo of Ben and Cat get going.”
Ben and Cat will be seen from Monday to Thursday on the ITV Daytime show, while Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will continue in their roles as Friday presenters and holiday cover.
Ben said: “This really feels like a very special moment for Cat and I to be part of the next chapter of ‘This Morning’.
“It’s an honour to be trusted with the reigns, join Alison and Dermot and all the team that work on and off screen and do such a great job. For the last ten years, I’ve been waking up with our ITV daytime audience on GMB and I now look forward to spending time with Cat, welcoming the viewers home after the school run or from their early morning routines, with a cup of tea and a mix of everything that makes ‘This Morning’ so loved.”
Cat – who began her career on children’s television alongside Ant and Dec and went on to host ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ before finding further success in the US – is thrilled to be joining the “national institution” and vowed to “take care” of it as well.
She said: “‘This Morning ‘is a national institution. Whenever it’s on, it’s like having your friends over – funny, smart, silly, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships! This Morning is and always will be the viewer’s show.
“Ben and I both know how much people love it, and with the help of an amazing team of people, we’re going to do our best to take care of it.”
Towards the end of last year, Cat stepped in for a trial run of a week of shows alongside ‘Good Morning Britain’ host Ben.
The show had been searching for a pair to take on the coveted TV jobs following the departures of long-running hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

‘It’s not a blur’ Brenda Edwards’ 2nd year of grief ‘even harder’ than 1st after death of son Jamal

OHMYGOSSIP — Brenda Edwards has found her second year of grief to be “even harder” than the first.
The ‘Loose Women’ star, 53, lost her son Jamal – who helped to launch Ed Sheeran’s career with his urban music platform SBTV – in February 2022 when he suffered a heart attack as a result of taking recreational drugs at the age of 31.
Brenda admitted the tragedy is ever-present in her mind, but she is continuing his legacy through the Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “The second year seems to have been even harder than the first year and the first year is still very, very vivid.
“It’s like yesterday every single day. It’s not a blur, unfortunately. It’s not a blur but it’s nice that it’s at the forefront because that means myself and Tanisha carry on what we’re doing.”
The former ‘X Factor’ contestant – who also has a daughter Tanisha from a previous relationship – is now launching a series of initiatives in honour of her late son, all inspired by his mantra of self-belief.
She said: “Jamal wrote a book called ‘Self Belief: The Vision’ and that has been at the head of what we’re doing. Self-belief was the main important thing for Jamal.
“There’s three initiatives that we have – young people, homelessness and underrepresented young people.
“Unfortunately, Jamal was 31 when he passed. So we are creating 31 work placements for underrepresented young people, young people who are on the care system who are just left on their own when they turn 18. Where do they go to?
“We’re creating launchpads with companies and UK industries that Jamal loved to work with.
“Then, we have the Self-Belief Sanctuary where five of those 31 young people will be housed, which we’ve managed to secure from donations.
“The third is that we’re fundraising and developing a community hub to bring old and young together.”

Death in Paradise star Genesis Lynea lands role in new series of Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — Genesis Lynea has been cast in the new series of ‘Doctor Who’.
The 34-year-old actress plays Andrina Harper in ‘Death in Paradise’ and has also had starring roles in ‘Casualty’ and ‘Silent Witness’, but she will now be joining the upcoming series of the BBC sci-fi show, in a part which has been described as “very different” to anything she has ever done before.
In the latest issue of the Doctor Who magazine, showrunner Russell T Davies wrote: “As the heat rises and May gets closer, it’s exciting to reveal even more cast names. Bear in mind we’ve still got big surprises to come!
“To ramp up your anticipation, it’s a joy to welcome Genesis Lynea on board. It was a great delight for me to work with Genesis on an ITV series called ‘You and Me’ in 2023, and so much fun to work with her again, so soon, in a very different role.”
Genesis – who also originated the role of Anna of Cleves in the megahit West End musical ‘Six’ – will be seen on the upcoming series alongside Gwïon Morris Jones, who is also joining for a guest stint.
The 14th series of ‘Doctor Who’ will air from May, with former ‘Sex Education’ actor Ncuti Gatwa in the leading role following a series of Christmas specials that saw David Tennant – who initially starred as the titular Time Lord from 2006 until 2010 – make a brief comeback.
Ncuti recently admitted David’s return was “a nice little lead-in” before him, because David was “a great inspiration” to a young Ncuti, when he used to dream of working as an actor while growing up in Scotland.
He told The Big Issue magazine: “A nice little lead-in for me! It feels like it’s come full circle – because David was my Doctor and such a great inspiration to me as an actor.
“I would have been 13 – a pivotal time. And firstly, he’s Scottish. Plus he was so charismatic and fun – I mean all the Doctors have been fun, all the way back.
“Well, I don’t know if you can say that about William Hartnell. Maybe he wasn’t fun. But David had such a Scottish almost feral-ness to him, which is what I liked. I felt an affinity to that. So for him, of all people, to be handing the baton over – it just feels really surreal.”

Paddy McGuinness makes This Morning hosting debut and jokes he’d be taken off air within ‘minutes’

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness thought he would be taken off air after just 20 minutes during his ‘This Morning’ debut.
The 50-year-old comedian took on hosting duties for Friday’s (01.03.24) episode of the ITV1 magazine show alongside Alison Hammond, and joked at the top of the programme that his time on-air would be short-lived.
Paddy also quipped he had regular host Dermot O’Leary and forthcoming host Ben Shephard “tied up” behind-the-scenes.
He said: “I’m giving us 20 minutes before we’re taken off air. I’ve had to put another T-shirt on because my nipples have got a mind of their own and I’ve got Dermot O’Leary and Ben Shephard tied up in my dressing room. That’s how I like it! We’ve got a corker for you today.”
The former ‘Take Me Out’ star’s debut as a presenter of the programme came just hours after businessman Martin Lewis will be at the helm of the show next week after telling producers that it had always been a dream of his to front at least one episode.
The 51-year-old businessman is normally seen on the ITV1 magazine programme dishing out financial advice to viewers but on Monday (04.03.23), he will join former ‘Big Brother’ star Josie Gibson, 39, to present a full episode of the show.

He said: “No idea if I’ll be any good at it, especially the less serious bits, but it’ll be fun to try – before the proper new dynamic duo of Ben and Cat get going.”
Ben and Cat will soon be seen from Monday to Thursday on the ITV Daytime show, while Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will continue in their roles as Friday presenters and holiday cover.
