Idris Elba auditioned for Beauty and the Beast

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba auditioned for ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
The 45-year-old actor has admitted he sent in an audition tape for the recent live-action remake of the 1991 animated Disney feature, but lost out on his dream of playing the villainous Gaston after the role ultimately went to Luke Evans.
Idris told People magazine’s ‘The Jess Cagle Interview’: “I honestly love musicals. I auditioned for ‘Beauty and the Beast’. I really did, for Gaston. I called and said, ‘Listen, I want in!’ So somewhere they have a tape of me singing.”
‘Beauty and the Beast’ was released in March this year, and starred Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the titular roles, as well as Josh Gad as Gaston’s right hand man Le Fou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiére, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts.
Previously, lead actress Emma Watson admitted she had a “crisis of confidence” when it came to having to sing on the set of the movie, but admits that now she’s done it she wants to perform in musicals “every day”.
She said: “I can’t even tell you how nerve-racking it was. I had a real crisis of confidence.
“It’s something I’ve always done and loved to do. My family know I can do it and my friends know I can do it, but I thought, is my voice holding to hold up?
“But I loved it. I want to do a musical every day of my life. When I hear that song Beauty and the Beast I just melt.”
It wasn’t the first time Emma had spoken about her fears over singing in the movie either, as she previously said felt a “different level of vulnerability” when she was asked to sing in the production.
She said: “It was something I talked about a lot when I got cast as Hermione, that I really wanted to sing. But I had kind of put it to bed because the acting thing had gone quite well …
“Singing makes you much more vulnerable than speaking. In acting, you can hide behind a character, whereas, when you start singing, it’s your own voice. For me, there’s definitely a different level of vulnerability.”

Domhnall Gleeson almost turned down Star Wars role

OHMYGOSSIP — Domhnall Gleeson almost turned down his role in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ as he didn’t want the fame that came with it.
The 34-year-old actor plays General Hux in the new trilogy of the popular sci-fi franchise, but has said he almost turned down the role when it was offered to him because he was “worried” that being recognised in public would “get in the way” of his personal life.
He told Radio Times magazine: “Why would I have thought of saying no? Fame is the end goal for a lot of people but it is not mine. I worried that the accompanying fame would get in the way of how I live my life. It got a little crazy for a couple of months – for a while, going out and having a drink with my friends was difficult, and then it died down.”
Domhnall has now signed up to appear in both the upcoming ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, and its follow-up which is currently just titled ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’, and recently admitted that he was wowed by some unexpected elements of the script to the eighth movie.
He said: “When I read it I needed to talk to him, and I think that’s always a good sign. I was like, ‘Wow there’s some stuff there which is kind of – not scary but different to what I expected,’ and that’s a really, really nice thing.
“I think that’s a really positive thing, I think that’s important for those films that we don’t repeat ourselves.
“I just wanted to talk to him, and when I talked to him he was so clear and so confident, not in a brash way but he knew the film he wanted to make, and it was a really lovely thing.
“Just [to] sit down with a filmmaker you really enjoy … but to see him, just the confidence of it and his excitement about what it could be and everything, it was really pleasing to see.”
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ hits cinemas this December.

Chizzy Akudolu leaves Strictly Come Dancjng

OHMYGOSSIP — Chizzy Akudolu is the first celebrity to leave ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Holby City’ star was booted out of BBC One’s latin and ballroom competition on Sunday night (01.10.17) after failing to impress in the dance off against Brian Conley.
Speaking after her exit, Chizzy said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported.”
And talking about her professional partner Pasha Kovalev, she added: “And this guy … this dude, I have loved every minute dancing with him and it will continue because I will just be going round his house to dance now. But I don’t have his address so if anyone could email me I would appreciate it! And thank you to the judges for the constructive criticism which I will take on board. Thank you.”
Whilst Pasha told the 43-year-old actress: “You were so much fun to work with, all the laughs we had together, all the great dancing we did together I absolutely enjoyed every single second of it and fine, come over to my house!”
Chizzy and Pasha danced their Foxtrot to ‘I’m a Woman’ whilst Brian and his professional partner Amy Dowden did their Cha Cha to ‘Shake Your Groove Thing’ in a bid to impress the judges – Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas.
Whilst Craig opted to save Chizzy and Pasha, Darcey and Bruno both chose to save Brian and Amy.
Darcey said: “Well firstly both couples for their enthusiasm and the amount of hard work they’ve put into their performances has been fabulous, thank you. But the couple I would like to save on having more dance content is Brian and Amy.”
And Bruno added: “Oh first dance off is terrible, the nerves! Both were far from perfect but I have to say one couple stood out; it popped more, the timing was better, the delivery was better and for that reason I choose Brian and Amy.”
Head Judge Shirley admitted it was a “difficult decision” but in the end, opted to save Brian and Amy.
She said: “Well it’s quite a difficult decision I feel that both of them bought quite nice performances there, but the person I’m going to save because I felt like they had a bit more musicality and content this evening is Brian.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues on BBC One on Saturday October 7.

Anne Hegerty wants to be an actress

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Chase’ star Anne Hegerty wants a role in ‘Star Trek’.
The 59-year-old quiz champion is known for being one of the brain boxes on ITV quiz show ‘The Chase’, but she has admitted her ambition in life is to put the general knowledge behind her and move into acting, particularly with a role in the hit sci-fi franchise.
She said: “I’ve always wanted to be part of a sci-fi show and ‘Star Trek’ would be perfect. I wouldn’t mind being in that. I was a huge fan of ‘Star Trek Deep Space Nine’. I love all of it. I really am a Trekkie. I mean, I’m a bit of a nerd generally.”
And whilst Anne wouldn’t mind which role she was given in the franchise, she admits she’d hate to be a character which requires a lot of prosthetics, as she already dislikes the costume she wears on ‘The Chase’.
She added: “I don’t really mind who I play. I just don’t really want to have to spend four hours in makeup and end up with bumps on my forehead. If I could do something where I didn’t have to wear a massive amount of prosthetics that would be nice.
“I already have to deal with a costume I hate when I do The Chase. It’s incredibly unflattering. Generally I just want to get back to the dressing room and get that bloody thing off. It’s surprising the number of people who assume that it lives in my wardrobe and that my hair naturally looks like that. I have to spend ages getting it done.”
It isn’t just television Anne wants to conquer either, as she’d even love to become a Hollywood movie star.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper, she said: “I’d love to be in one of the Marvel films. I saw ‘Kong: Skull Island’ and thought it was excellent. I really enjoyed it, so something like that would be fun. I’ve seen they are doing ‘Godzilla v Kong’. I’d love to have a walk-on part in that … but not as Kong!”

Baroness Karren Brady approached for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Baroness Karren Brady gets asked to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ “every year”.
The ‘Apprentice’ star has admitted she has been approached by bosses of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition numerous times, and always turns them down as she isn’t interested in appearing on any reality TV programmes.
Speaking to the Sunday People newspaper, she said: “I got asked to a cooking show when I can’t even cook! I’ve been asked to ‘Strictly’ a number of times. Every year actually.”
It isn’t the first time the 48-year-old businesswoman has admitted her dislike for reality TV, as she previously admitted she would rather stay at home with her husband Paul Peschisolido and their children Sophia, 21, and Paulo, 19, than land herself a role in the showbiz world.
She said: “I’m very normal. You won’t see any of us appearing on reality TV – I’d rather eat my own eyeballs.”
However, that’s not to say she doesn’t enjoy appearing on TV on ‘The Apprentice’, as she insists she “loves every aspect” of the cutthroat business show.
She added: “I like every aspect of doing ‘The Apprentice’. Alan sets the tasks in some of the most fabulous locations.
“We get access to some really interesting places, though you’re running from one place to the next and it’s always exhausting.
“There’s a lot of dashing around and, yes, you will see my trainers on screen – I’ve given up wearing high heels.
“It’s a bit of an endurance test but I get on with it.
“Our days are very long and I start out with good intentions, thinking, ‘I’m going to get up early and do my hair’, but it doesn’t turn out like that.
“I don’t have a make-up person following me around, not at all.”

The 39-year-old beauty previously used the social media platform to claim “no flirty texts were sent” to Chris, which prompted him to post screenshots of her WhatsApp messages.
In the messages, Katie urged Chris to “be careful” of people who are interested in exploiting him, and even told him to let her know if he would rather she didn’t contact him.

Rachel Riley hates the Strictly Come Dancing theme tune

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Riley is terrified every time she hears the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ theme tune.
The ‘Countdown’ star took part in the contest in 2013 and occasionally longs to get back on the dancefloor, but as soon as she hears the famous song, she remembers how tough it was.
She said: “When a new series of ‘Strictly’ is on TV, I sometimes think I’d like to do it again. Then I hear the show’s music and it scares the life out of me. Putting yourself on display like that is so scary.
“You’re opening yourself up to criticism and it can bring out every insecurity in you.”
Rachel split from her husband Jamie during her time on the show and went on to find love with her professional partner, Pasha Kovalev, but admits she didn’t even think they’d get along very well when she first met the dancer.
She said: “I knew I was going to have to spend a lot of time with this person so the first time we met we were talking about each other’s likes and dislikes.
“His favourite music was classical and his favourite type of movies involved zombies. Totally different to me!
“I thought it was going to feel like a really long couple of months with him but that soon changed. On paper, it might not seem like a match. I didn’t see myself with a Russian professional dancer who doesn’t like football.
“But our chemistry is great and it works.”
Though she and Pasha have been together for three years, the 31-year-old presenter insists they are in no rush to marry or have children.
She told Closer magazine: “We’re not really bothered about marriage or kids. When it comes, it comes. We’re not a very conventional couple.”

Katya Jones feels ‘safe’ with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Joe McFadden

OHMYGOSSIP — Katya Jones “feels safe” with her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Joe McFadden.
The 24-year-old professional dancer has been paired with the ‘Holby City’ hunk on the current series of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, and after having a disastrous time last year with former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, Katya thinks her chances of holding the glitterball trophy have greatly improved.
She told The Sun newspaper: “Joe is already lifting me. I didn’t introduce lifts with Ed until much later. I feel safe in his hands. He’s promised he won’t drop me.”
And 41-year-old Joe recently admitted that he too feels safe in the arms of Katya, as he credits her for doing “amazing things” with the 50-year-old politician last year.
He said recently: “Katya did such amazing things with Ed last year so I feel I’m in really safe hands. She is a really great teacher. She’s quite a task master and we’d done the routine by day two. She’s quite strict but it’s a nice blend of strictness and fun.”
Joe’s main ambition on the show is to last until his birthday on October 9, and said he just doesn’t want to be “terrible”.
He said: “Katya keeps telling me I have to have an ambition about the show but really I just don’t want to be awful. That’s my ambition at the moment. I just don’t want to be terrible.”
Meanwhile, before taking to the stage last week for his impressive jive, Joe admitted the dance was an “ambitious” one to start with, but hoped he could prove his has “rhythm”.
He said: “It’s quite an ambitious first dance and it’s quite a fast song. Jive is one of the more difficult dances I can imagine so I’m quite glad to get it done now as you get two weeks for the first dance, while every other week it’s only one week to learn it.
“I haven’t had any formal dance training but I do enjoy a dance, jumping about at parties and weddings. I feel I have rhythm. Whether other people wold agree with me is another thing. I suppose I’m going to find out.”
Joe’s jive ultimately scored him an impressive 29 out of 40, and Saturday’s (30.09.17) tango scored him 22, putting him fifth on the leaderboard.

Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice top Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice’s charming Viennese Waltz saw them top the leaderboard on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Saturday (30.09.17).
The 58-year-old star and her professional partner wowed with a elegant performance of ‘She’s Always a Woman’, giving them the edge as the public vote for their favourites.
Craig Revel Horwood branded it “a-ma-zing”, whilst Darcey Bussell told the wife of the late magician Paul Daniels: “You show no effort, the ease and the detail. It’s fantastic.”
However, it was Alexandra Burke and Gorka Márquez’s Paso Doble to ‘Ven A Bailar’ that earned them the highest score of the night of 36, achieving nines from all the judges – Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey and Craig.
Speaking after the performance, Darcey said: “Oh my! The strength, the drama, there’s an art within you … It’s so beautiful to watch. I was on the edge of my seat.”
Aston Merrygold and Janette Manrara’s energetic festival-themed Salsa was a “smidgen from perfection”, according to Bruno. And Craig told them: “The risk is always great when you try these lifts in sequence … It had rhythm and timing and it was an amazing performance.”
Ruth Langsford and Anton Du Beke put last week’s disaster-filled dance behind them and their energetic Charleston was deemed “100 percent better” than their previous performance.
Shirley said: “It was 100 percent better! You nailed it today!”
Whilst Bruno added: “Great, great improvement from last weekend.”
Simon Rimmer and Karen Clifton’s waltz to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ left Shirley teary-eyed as she spoke of the meaning behind the song.
The emotional impact of the song even left Craig feeling sympathetic. He told them: “It’s a real shame [about the ending] because it did show a lot of promise. I feel for you.”
Following the second week of performances, Charlotte Hawkins and Brendan Cole and Reverend Richard Coles and his partner Dianne Buswell found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 34 each.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will continue on Sunday (01.10.17), where the first celebrity will leave the competition.

Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong’o for Charlie’s Angels reboot?

Kristen, 27 and 34-year-old Lupita are among the stars being considered for the re-imagining of the ABC series, which will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, according to Variety.
The original series premiered in 1976 and lasted for five seasons with the late Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, 69, and Jaclyn Smith, 71, starring as the private detectives working for a benefactor named Charlie – voiced by John Forsyth.
Fawcett left the series and was replaced by Cheryl Ladd, 65, and then Shelley Hack, 69, and Tanya Roberts, 61, joined the show later in the series.
The success of the series led to two movie spin-offs starring Drew Barrymore, 42, Cameron Diaz, 44, and Lucy Liu, 48.
‘Charlie’s Angels’ was released in 2000 and grossed around $264 million worldwide with the 2003 sequel ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’ earning $259 million.

Tom Cruise did all his movie flights

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise was the “only pilot” on ‘American Made’.
The 55-year-old actor is a keen aviator and famously prefers to do his own stunts, so for his role as pilot-turned-drug smuggler-turned-informant Barry Seal in the biographical drama, he undertook all the flying sequences himself.
Director Doug Liman said: “Tom not only flew the stunts in the movie, he’s flying the airplane the whole time, you look at the credits and he’s the only pilot listed but he actually ferried the airplane to Colombia himself, to have that experience.”
And Doug – who also flies planes in his spare time – was amazed at how well Tom was able to tackle some of the trickier maneuvers.
He told Collider of one particular scene: “I’m a pilot and I would not land on that airstrip, ever. Tom’s got no problem, in fact he planted it so well on the airstrip he’s on the runway forever, we were really worried about it going off the far end, all the actors are at the end who he does the scene with but he landed so early the shot goes on forever.
“Tom also landed on that same airstrip at night with just one pick-up lighting the area. I’m sure you’re like, ‘That’s not Tom, that’s a stunt double, but Tom did not have a stunt double.’…
Tom added in the joint interview: “It was lucky, I was like, I’ve got this, I can do one more landing, and that was it. We landed, got the shot then took off.”
The two men enjoyed researching Barry’s life and producers ended up having to tell them to stop because there was so many anecdotes they were keen to include in the film.
Doug said: “In South America we met a pilot who knew Barry Seal and he was like ‘Oh I loved Barry, he stole an airplane from me, took it out for a test flight and never came back.’
“We heard so many stories that we wanted to factor in… The producers finally were like, ‘Just stop talking to people who knew Barry’. ”

Steven Spielberg to produce Men In Black spinoff

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg is set to produce a ‘Men In Black’ spinoff.
The legendary director – who was an executive producer on the original trilogy – is developing a new take on the franchise, with ‘Iron Man’ writers Matt Holloway and Art Marcum penning the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While the original movies featured Agents K and J, played by Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, the spinoff will focus on new characters.
The project already has a May 17, 2019 release date.
Meanwhile, ‘Men In Black’ director Barry Sonnenfeld previously revealed he tricked Chris O’Donnell into turning down a lead role in the original movie.
Chris had been singled out for the part of Agent J in ‘MIB’ by Spielberg who was producing the sci-fi action film through his company Amblin Entertainment.
However, Sonnenfeld knew he wanted Will and cunningly convinced O’Donnell not to take the role.
He said: “Steven Spielberg told me I had to go to dinner with Chris and convince Chris to be in the movie. I knew I wanted Will Smith, so I told Chris that I wasn’t a very good director and I didn’t think the script was very good and if he had any other options he shouldn’t do ‘Men In Black’.
“He let it be known the next day that he was not interested.”
And Sonnenfeld recently revealed his wishes for a fourth movie in the franchise.
He said: “I wish there were a fourth film. I don’t think Will Smith nor I would be involved. But I love the franchise, because I developed it and created it.”

Elizabeth Olsen’s damaged roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Olsen likes to play “damaged” characters.
The ‘Wind River’ actress is far more attracted to parts of “emotionally powerful individuals” who have something to prove, than someone who is simply a “badass”.
She said: “I’m not looking for roles that are just badass women. That term is thrown around way too much.
“I look for the emotionally powerful individuals struggling with adversity, with internal conflicts, who have to prove themselves.
“I like damaged characters – I think I seek out damaged characters the most. Or at least, that’s what I get sent the most.”
Though Elizabeth, 28, began her career on smaller independent movies, she understands that taking part in blockbusters such as ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘The Avengers’ – in which she starred as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch – open more doors and allow her the opportunities to be able to pursue her “passion projects”.
She told LOOK magazine: “Several years ago, I saw that even if you’re part of good films, you still won’t find a lot of work unless you have the recognition that comes from doing bigger movies.
“Now that I’ve done some big studio films, it’s given me the kind of visibility that will help me do films like ‘Wind River’ and ‘Ingrid Goes West’, which is a black comedy.
“I’ve seen what a big difference it makes when you’re going to auditions or meeting with directors.
“A lot of doors are opening up and I’m looking forward to being able to do the big movies and the smaller, passion projects.”

Jon Clark blasts ‘pathetic, fame-seeking’ ex

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Clark has branded his ex-girlfriend Chloe Crowhurst “pathetic and fame-seeking”.
The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ star is currently dating Lauren Pope but after Chloe claimed he has been messaging her, Jon hit back.
His representative told MailOnline: “Jon is very happy in his relationship with Lauren, they have been celebrating Lauren’s birthday last night and today and Jon is not commenting on these pathetic fame-seeking comments from him ex.
“It’s pretty sad that Chloe keeps talking about Jon in a desperate attempt to try and stay relevant. Chloe should spend less time talking about Jon, and more time focusing on her new relationship.”
Chloe and Jon split after she left him to take part in ‘Love Island’ but she recently alleged that he has been trying to get back with her.
She said: “Jon says he’s moved on but he still messages me… I’m never going down the path again. I’m done with the past.”
Lauren also recently lashed out at Chloe and admitted she is worried that Chloe may join ‘The Only Way Is Essex’, in order to make trouble for Jon.
Lauren said: “I’m paranoid that Chloe will be joining ‘TOWIE’ but I don’t know.
“[The ‘TOWIE’ bosses] are so unpredictable. They have said no one from ‘Love Island’ are joining this year but they wouldn’t tell me anyway.
“It would be so awkward. I know John would hate it.
“She publicly humiliated him. It’s messed with his head. I’m not worried I’m a rebound because I know I’m not but it has given him lot of trust issues.
“She stayed at his house and then flew to ‘Love Island’ that day. Really really f***ed up his trust issues.”

Michelle Keegan defends her marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Keegan has hit back at rumours her marriage is in trouble.
The ‘Our Girl’ beauty tied the knot with Mark Wright in 2015 after three years of dating and although they have been spending time apart while she films in South Africa and he works for ‘Extra’ in Los Angeles, Michelle insists they are happier than ever.
She told The Sun: “I don’t understand how a couple can’t have their separate careers, and why can’t a newly married woman go off and do her job and a husband go off and do his?
“I don’t understand why that’s a negative. It should be celebrated.
“I’d say there is a slight degree of sexism to it. I always think it’s good we’ve got our own careers.
“He’s put all his effort into that and I’m putting all my effort into this.
“And for me, I just find it really exciting that we’re working so hard separately, for our different careers.
“Then, when December comes, when I can have a break, I’m going to go straight over and see him. I find it really exciting.”
And the pair keep in constant touch with video calls and messages.
She added: “Don’t get me wrong, we miss each other so much but we are in constant contact with WhatsApp and FaceTime.”
Michelle also revealed that she and Mark, both 30, are keen to start a family.
She said: “We always say we both want to have kids, definitely, start a family. But when the time is right.
“We’ll know when the time is right, definitely.”

Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie’s Loose Women reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie will come face-to-face on TV next week for the first time since their divorce.
The pair – who have sons Shane Jr, 29, and Jake, 25, together – divorced in 1999 after Shane cheated on Coleen but they will be reunited on ‘Loose Women’ when Shane appears on Coleen’s ITV show to promote his new country music album.
He told the Daily Mirror: “I’m looking forward to going on.
“The girls are great, and I’ll be seeing the ex-wife… remember me? I love watching ‘Loose Women’. I like to see what I’ve been up to.”
Although they now have an amicable relationship, Coleen, 52, previously admitted 53-year-old Shane’s infidelity was humiliating.
She said: “It’s humiliating, for a long time even when I did find out I wanted to try and fight for it.
“People thought I deserved everything I got.”
“It’s when people know and your close friends know. You dread it coming out and it’s the moment that everyone knows. I’d go out supermarket shopping and everyone was so lovely.
“But I’d be like, ‘Don’t hug me else I’ll cry’… It’s been 20 years since me and Shane split up.
“I feel sorry for him because every time people say she was married to Shane Richie, ‘who cheated on her’…
“It’s like OK move on, we’ve moved on.”
