Taika Waititi explains the challenge of making a Hollywood blockbuster

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi initially found making a blockbuster Hollywood movie to be an intimidating challenge.
The 42-year-old director earned his reputation making small budget movies – but the landscape changed for Taika when he was offered the chance to helm ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and the dynamics of his job also shifted.
Reflecting on the differences between big and small budget films, the director explained: “I enjoyed giving up a bit of control because it meant I could concentrate on other things. Usually, on my smaller films, I’m doing everything, like carrying trays of food around for people.
“No matter what film you make, it’s all exhausting but on this one, it was nice to have someone else writing, someone else doing the organisation so I could focus on what I’m shooting, the jokes and what we’re doing with the actors. It was a really freeing experience, actually.”
Despite his lack of experience with big-budget movies, Taika was confident that his sense of humour would easily transfer to mainstream cinema.
And Taika believes there are plenty of moviegoers who share his outlook on the world.
The filmmaker – was nominated for an Academy Award for his 2004 short film ‘Two Cars, One Night’ – told News.com.au: “I feel like I know what is funny. And there are definitely people out there like me who think the same way.
“With the story, I would suggest things or throw ideas in that I would like to have seen in the film.”

Adam Driver joins Spike Lee’s new movie Black Klansman

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Driver has joined the cast of ‘Black Klansman’.
The 33-year-old actor is set to star in Spike Lee’s new movie which is set to be produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw productions, Deadline reports.
‘Black Klansman’ follows Ron Stallworth, a detective from Colorado Springs, who answers an ad in the local paper seeking new Klan members.
Stallworth rose through the ranks to become the head of the local chapter – even though he’s African American.
Lee, Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz and Kevin Willmont have all adapted the autobiography by Stallworth and the movie will be produced by Sean McKittrick, Raymond Mansfield, Shaun Redick, Jason Blum, Peele and Lee.
QC Entertainment have been developing the script for the new movie for the last two years.
Driver was last seen starring alongside Channing Tatum in ‘Logan Lucky’ and is set to reprise his role as Kylo Ren in the eighth ‘Star Wars’ movie ‘The Last Jedi’ this December.
Rian Johnson – who helms latest episode in sci-fi franchise – said the movie’s villain Kylo was one of his favourite roles to write, as he believes despite the character’s evil streak, he is someone audiences can “relate” to.
Speaking previously, Johnson said: “Writing Kylo Ren is just so much fun. ‘Star Wars’ boils down to the transition from adolescence into adulthood. That’s the heart of these films and Rey is most obviously the one that hangs on. But it’s also Kylo.
“In the originals you project entirely onto Luke, while Darth Vader is the scary other – he’s the Minotaur. The fascinating thing about Kylo and Rey is that they’re two sides of something.
“We can all relate to Kylo: to that anger of being in the turmoil of adolescence and figuring out who he’s going to be as a man; dealing with anger and wanting to separate from his family. He’s not Vader – at least, he’s not Vader yet – and that’s something I really wanted to get into.”

Kevin Feige defends Marvel movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige has rubbished the suggestion that all Marvel movies are the same.
The studio’s President claimed the comic book films were bound to have a similar feel as they are produced by the same team and set in the same fictional universe – but he insisted they are all telling different stories in their own right.
The blockbuster franchise – which includes ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ – has drawn complaints from some critics and fans that the films are repetitive and being churned out too fast.
But, Kevin told Uproxx.com: “I mean, I think it’s just the way we make the movies. I think all the movies are relatively different. I think there’s a narrative that people like to write about because they’re all produced by the same team and they all inhabit the same fictional cinematic universe. That we look for common similarities.
“And I’m not saying there aren’t common similarities throughout it, but I think ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ are two totally different types of movies.
“They’re both fun. People both enjoy them. Is that a similarity? If so, I’ll take it. If that’s a criticism, I’ll take that, too. But really, yeah, ‘Homecoming’, ‘Ragnarok’, ‘Panther’, into ‘Infinity War’, ‘Ant-Man’ and the ‘Wasp’ after that. And a ’90s-set ‘Captain Marvel’ after that; these are six very different movies.
“If what they have in common is they’re all really enjoyable and fun to watch, then I’ll take it.”
Meanwhile, Kevin also disagreed that ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, starring Chris Hemsworth and Cate Blanchett, represents a change of direction for the franchise.
He said: “The truth of the matter is I think they’re all unusual and I think they all seem to be funnier than people expect. People said the same thing to me about ‘Guardians [of the Galaxy]’, people said the same thing to me three months ago about ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
“But, certainly, this is the one that we followed our instincts into comedy unabashedly.”

Jack Whitehall’s mother ‘sneaks’ into his home uninvited

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Whitehall’s mother “sneaks in” to clean his home, but without him knowing.
The 29-year-old comedian has admitted he is “not very good” at tidying up, which he blames on his “very doting mother” Hilary Jane, and he has revealed his parent will creep into his place without warning him to clear up his mess.
The dark-haired funnyman told the Radio Times Online: “I wish I could say that [I’m tidy], but honestly I’m just not very good at cleaning up. It’s because I grew up with my very doting mother who did everything for me. Becoming independent has been a long and difficult journey, but she has a key and she still sneaks in and spring cleans sometimes without me knowing.”
But the ‘Fresh Meat’ star has hinted the dark-coloured furnishings in his home “hides various stains” from his mother, and any other guests.
He continued: “It’s only one level up from a student house. I’ve got a dark blue sofa that hides various stains and spillages.”
Jack has recently teamed up with his father, Michael, to travel across the globe with one another for their programme ‘Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father’, but the star feels his dad has “ditched him” now the filming has come to an end and has simply “used” him as a “stepping stone” to further his own career.
He said: “He seems to have ditched me. I keep seeing him doing solo things like Dictionary Corner on ‘Countdown’ and the ‘Celebrity Antiques Road Trip’. I feel like he’s used me as a stepping stone and now he’s just going to discard me.”
But the pair are forced to meet with one another at an upcoming family event, although he has claimed the 77-year-old can be a “social hand grenade”.
He explained: “We’re off to a family wedding in Dublin this weekend so that’ll be interesting. My dad at a wedding can be a bit of a social hand grenade.”

The X Factor bosses make drastic changes to live shows

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The X Factor’ bosses have reportedly scrapped the judges vote from the current series.
The talent competition has been given a shake up ahead of the live shows on Saturday (28.10.17), as judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne will not be able to save one of the acts who make it to the bottom two, and the decision will be solely left to the public instead.
And because of this change the contestant with the lowest votes will be booted off the show immediately and will not be required to take part in a sing off with their peer as part of their final plea to stay on the show.
The alterations to the shows set up have been made because the 58-year-old music mogul – who has three-year-old son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman – believes the sing off became “sour”, and the businessman would prefer to “celebrate the best acts”.
A source told The Sun Online: “The sing-off had been popular but Simon believed that it had become sour and focused too much on who was leaving rather than championing the talent who was in the lead.
“He wants to celebrate the best acts on the show rather than give screen time to the less popular performers who haven’t struck a chord with the public.”
However, the decision to get rid of certain aspects of the programme doesn’t mean the critiquing panel will have no input in the upcoming episodes, as they are still able to put forward their opinion on the performances.
The insider continued: “It does mean though that there is little point in the judges being there, apart from offering their opinion. They will have no direct impact on who goes or who stays.”
And the shows bosses hope the “huge changes” will “boost interest” in this year’s ‘The X Factor’.
The source said: “But bosses hope the huge changes will boost interest in the programme and keep viewers watching.”
The overhaul will also see special performances from guest artists on every episode, which will see former ‘The X Factor’ competitor Liam Payne – who has seven-month-old Bear with partner Cheryl Tweedy – wow crowds when he takes to the stage, as well as Stormzy, who served as a guest judge for the former Pussycat Dolls band member during the Judges Houses round.
And Saturday’s episode will also see the Wild Cards, which are an additional four acts who were not selected to go through to the live shows, announced.

Olivia Attwood is ‘shook’ by pregnancy rumours

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Attwood felt she needed to take a pregnancy test after being quizzed about her body shape.
The 26-year-old television personality – who sparked up a romance with Chris Hughes on this year’s ‘Love Island’ – feared she may be expecting a baby and felt she needed to take a test to put her mind at ease after rumours started to circulate that she was showing signs of a baby bump.
And the blonde-haired beauty took to social media to speak out about how uncomfortable she was made to feel by the comments.
Alongside a picture of the reality star laying in bed, with a teddy bear emoji superimposed over her face, which was shared on her Instagram Story that remained on the photo-sharing site for 24 hours, she wrote: “You guys have me shook. Feel like I want to take a pregnancy test tomorrow (sic).”
The star has admitted the remarks about her appearance have “messed with [her] head”.
Alongside a second photograph, she wrote: “Your messing with my head people (sic).
“I do what I want. So I’m gunna (sic).”
Olivia has yet to update her followers on whether she did go through and be medically examined in case she is having a child.
This news comes shortly after an image of the couple at Ascot racecourse surfaced and fans started to question whether she was trying for a baby.
But Olivia’s brother, Max, jumped to his sister’s defence and put her bloated gutt down to her “necking” a big meal.
Alongside a string of pictures from the event, Max commented: “Lol y’all mad for thinking she’s pregnant, knowing Liv she probably necked a nugget share box to herself before she went to the races that’s all.(sic)”
And the star has recently laughed off claims she has been pressurising her 24-year-old beau to propose.
Speaking previously, she said: “We’ve known each other for three months so it would be insane for us to get engaged. We speak about marriage and kids all the time, but it’s not on our radar right now. When I get married, I want it to be forever. I don’t want to have a shotgun wedding that falls apart in a few years.”

Meryl Streep for Fleabag cameo?

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Fleabag’ producer Lydia Hampson would love Meryl Streep to have a cameo in the show’s second series.
The BAFTA-winning BBC3 comedy – which tells the story of a thirty-something woman living in London, trying to navigate her own life while dealing with the tragedy of her best friend’s death – is set to start production on its second series in the near future, and whilst plot details are yet to be finalised, Lydia has said she would love to incorporate the story of an older female, potentially played by Hollywood star Meryl Streep.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, the producer said: “I’d love there to be an older woman in it. We didn’t really explore a storyline of what happens to women as they get older in society, and too often women are deemed irrelevant as they age.
“So I would absolutely love someone like Meryl Streep to come in and have a cameo as – I mean, I don’t know if she’s even aware of what the show is – but I’d love to find a really brilliant older actress to come in and do something really unexpected.”
‘Fleabag’ stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge – who also created the show – as the titular main character, as well as Hugh Skinner as Harry, Olivia Coleman as Godmother, and Hugh Dennis as a bank manager.
And Lydia revealed Olivia’s role as the somewhat evil Godmother came after the star told Phoebe she’d “love” to play “a b***h”.
Speaking about Olivia’s casting, Lydia added: “Olivia had said to Phoebe, ‘If you ever write anything please tell me, I’d love to be in it.’
“Phoebe told me that and I was like, ‘Oh my god! What could she be?’ In the original play version the godmother is literally just a presence at the top of the stairs, she doesn’t have any words, she’s not in it at all.
“So Phoebe kind of wrote up this idea of a godmother character that has a much larger role and Olivia, I believe, had said, ‘I’d love to play a real b***h.’ And so Phoebe was like, ‘I’ve got it!'”
‘Fleabag’ series two is set to air in 2019.

Ben Whishaw contacts Norman Scott for A Very English Scandal

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Whishaw has reportedly spoken to Norman Scott to prepare for his role in ‘A Very English Scandal’.
The ‘James Bond’ actor will portray Scott in the new BBC drama, which is based on the book of the same name written by John Preston last year, and in a bid to get into character for the production the 37-year-old star has met with the former lover of the late Liberal party leader Jeremy Thorpe
because he likes to get “under the skin” of the person he is playing.
Speaking about the project to The Sun Online, a source said: “Ben is the kind of actor who really likes to get under the skin of a character, so the natural thing to do was to speak to Norman.
“He really wanted to get his side of his amazing story.”
The miniseries will depict the story of the former Liberal party leader Jeremy Thorpe who was accused of conspiring to murder his former flame Scott during a time when homosexual relationships was illegal.
And the shows bosses have revealed getting the dark-haired star on board the project was a “dream come true”, and screenwriter Russell T Davies has hailed Ben as one of the “finest actors” in the business.
Speaking previously, the creative mastermind said: “It’s a dream come true, to work with Ben. One of Britain’s finest actors playing one of history’s most fascinating men.”
The Controller of BBC Drama, Piers Wenger, is eager to see Ben star in the three-part drama, which will be produced by Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin for Blueprint.
He said: “Ben Whishaw is an extraordinary actor and we are thrilled to announce he will star opposite Hugh Grant in this scandalous real-life story for BBC One. I cannot wait to see this first-class British duo bring Russell’s powerful scripts to life.”

Paul Whitehouse to bring back Mike Smash

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Whitehouse’s popular DJ character Mike Smash is set to return to television screens in two Christmas specials on Gold.
The 59-year-old comedic actor first brought the DJ to life in the popular BBC comedy series ‘Harry Enfield’s Television Programme’ – which aired in the 1990s – and it has now been confirmed the cheesy Fab FM presenter will be back to host two festive musical compilations on Gold this December.
The special show, entitled ‘Smashie’s Xmastastic Playlist’ will air across two days on the UKTV channel, and will see the popular character presenting without his long-time co-presenter Dave Nice, played by Harry Enfield.
Speaking in character, the star said in a statement: “Hi gherkins! It’s quite liderally Mike Smash here, Britain’s most popadabbadobulous DJ! This year I’ll be hosting ‘Smashie’s Xmastastic Playlist’ on Gold, a-featurin’ all your favourite Xmas songs and some of the famous Smash wise-words and philosophy type stuff.
“It’s a great honour for me to host Xmas, something that until now, only Jesus has done. And the whole thing is for charidee, except it isn’t. So join me, Mike Smash, on Gold this Xmas and let’s have some poptastic festive fun.”
Whilst Gold channel added: “Yes, the UK’s most fantabulous DJ and one half of everyone’s favourite fab radio duo, Mike Smash (Paul Whitehouse) takes time out from his charity work and returns to TV screens this Christmas with his ding-dong-merrily-on-high-iest festive favourite tunes. ‘Smashie’s Xmastastic Playlist’ is a brand new UKTV Original that will air across two days in December 2017.
“Simulcast between Gold and Smash’s new broadcasting home Radio Hush, this two-part special will feature the nation’s best-loved Christmas classics, alongside some lesser known oddities from Smashie’s sonic stocking – and all will be introduced by the former Radio Fab FM DJ in his unique style.”
The two hour-long specials have been written by Paul Whitehouse and Dave Cummings, and at the time of writing, the exact dates for the broadcasts have not yet been revealed.
John Quinn from production company North One said: “For many of us, some of the rosiest Christmas Day memories from childhood were those old ‘Top Of The Pops’ specials, played out during the build-up to a turkey dinner. Who better to recapture the essence of that classic festive experience – and its actual, often cringing embarrassment – than Mike Smash himself. Who doesn’t love Smashie?”

Tamzin Outhwaite’s foot injury caused EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Tamzin Outhwaite decided to return to ‘EastEnders’ after a foot injury caused her to rethink her stage career.
The 46-year-old actress revealed earlier this week that she is set to rejoin the BBC soap as Melanie Owen in 2018, nearly 16 years after she last appeared as the character.
And now, the star has revealed her decision came after she was forced to pull out of the West End show ‘Stepping Out’ – in which she starred alongside Amanda Holden – when she suffered a stress fracture on her metatarsal during rehearsals.
She said: “[Healing it is] a long process. I’ll be doing more TV than theatre now. I’ve just done a couple of years of theatre, which I love, but now it’s time to do some telly. Sometimes I think someone’s looking after you up there. That’s exactly what I need to do.”
Tamzin – who has daughters Florence, nine, and Marnie, five, with her former partner Tom Ellis – also admits the long working hours of a stage actress had begun to take their toll on her when she first started her theatre career, and says she’s now more picky with her jobs so she can focus more on her brood.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she added: “I spent a year on ‘Sweet Charity’ the musical, but Flo was teething. She would be up every night and I was doing eight shows a week. I thought, maybe I can’t do this any more.
“The last few years have been short of jobs, and a lot more free time. The slowing down has been quite gradual.
“My priorities have changed. Now I’m OK saying ‘No’. If I audition for things and don’t get them, there’s two beautiful faces looking at me and I’m home.”
Meanwhile, Tamzin recently said she was “honoured” to be returning to Albert Square next year.
She said: “When I got the call from John Yorke, the show’s creative director, I just couldn’t refuse. John created Mel’s most memorable storylines so it is an honour he has asked me to return.
“‘EastEnders’ is in my DNA and I always knew deep down that someday I would revisit Mel – she is a strong, independent woman with lots more stories to tell. To be stepping back into the character’s shoes nearly 20 years after I first stated feels perfect.”

Mollie King’s Strictly Come Dancing partner falls ill

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner AJ Pritchard has been “struck down with a bug”, and could be forced to miss out on Saturday’s (28.10.17) live show.
The former Saturdays singer has been forced to start training with back-up dancer Patrick ahead this weekend’s Halloween special, after her professional partner AJ fell ill, and is now in a “race against time” to get well again before he is expected to take to the stage to perform the pair’s cha-cha.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “AJ has been struck down with a bug. He really needs to lie down for the majority of the day as is temperature is up and down.
“He’s popping in every now and then to training to advise on the choreography, but he doesn’t want to give Mollie his illness.
“A back-up dancer called Patrick has stepped in and is dancing with Mollie. But AJ is in a real race against time to make it to the show on Saturday.”
Mollie, 30, took to her Instagram story on Wednesday (25.10.17) to share a get well message for 22-year-old AJ, but insisted she was feeling “stressed” at the prospect of having to dance with a new partner on Saturday.
She said: “So it’s day two of the cha-cha and AJ did try to come into rehearsals but he had to be sent home. So in two days, I’ve danced the cha-cha with three different boys so stressed would be an understatement.”
It comes after the hunky dancer – who joined the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition last year – recently hinted he might be interested in a romance with his dance partner.
Speaking at the start of the competition last month, he said: “We’re both single and having a fantastic time training, but I’ve only known her for two weeks.
“Who knows what will happen You do get very close, and the second dance will be a complete change of moves, that’s for sure…
“Training is a dream and we’re having so much fun in there.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns on Saturday (28.10.17) at 6:35pm ob BBC One.

S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt joins EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Former S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt has been cast in ‘EastEnders’.
The singer-turned-actress is heading to Albert Square to play the younger sister of Karen Taylor, and Hannah has admitted she is thrilled to be joining the cast of the BBC One soap.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I’m over the moon to be joining the show, it’s such a huge part of British telly. I’m really looking forward to getting started and I can’t wait to see the Square in the flesh. Walford here I come.”
The 36-year-old star – whose previous acting credits include a starring role in ITV sci-fi drama ‘Primeval’ – will play Kandice, the younger sister of single mum Karen, who is expected to be just as feisty and outspoken as her big sister.
Her character could well cause a new disruption in the Taylor family’s lives, who have only just settled into Walford since their arrival in the summer.
Hannah follows in the footsteps of Blue’s Lee Ryan who joined the ‘EastEnders’ cast for a short stint earlier this year, only to be given a regular role.
And, similarly, if the ‘Reach (For The Stars)’ hitmaker impresses show boss John Yorke, she may also become a more permanent fixture in Albert Square.
Hannah first rose to fame as part of chart-topping pop group S Club 7, starring in their own TV show on CBBC, and she has since gone on to have acting roles in ‘Death In Paradise’ and ‘Casualty’.

Jason Gardiner won’t bite his tongue on Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Gardiner has no intention of holding back on the new series of ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The outspoken Australian judge previously divided public opinion during his time on the ITV programme and after it was confirmed he is poised to return to the show in 2018, Jason has revealed he’ll still be tough on the contestants.
Looking forward to the new series, Jason said: “It’s got to the point where people are too scared saying the truth. We are now being forced into censorship at a time when we have the ability to really express ourselves.
“We’ve become so hypersensitive now about the truth that if you have a strong opinion and you are a public persona then you better have some pretty tough skin, because there are a lot of people ready to come at you.”
Jason, 45, said he has been brought back by ITV to offer an honest assessment of how the contestants perform.
And if they fall below his lofty standards, Jason won’t be shy in dishing out the criticism.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I will still be honest because I can back up my honesty with technical fact and expertise. Remember, that’s all I’m judging. I will judge on their performance and if that critique sometimes is considered too harsh – then tough.”
Jason also revealed he doesn’t even know who the ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestants are because he doesn’t follow celebrity news.
He said: “I’m judging on a performance. I’m not judging on somebody’s life. I don’t know who half of them are.
“I do not Google people. I do not research them. If I know them I know them but what I won’t obsess on is who they are.”

Katie Price wants ‘a lot of money’ for Dancing on Ice’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price would want “a lot of money” to do ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 39-year-old former glamour model was approached for the forthcoming series of the skating show, which will hit screens in January, but she turned down their offer because she wasn’t happy with the amount of cash they were going to give her.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she explained: “I would have wanted a big fee, yeah. I wouldn’t do it. But then I’m doing my reality TV show as well. But of course I’d want a lot of money. It takes up a lot of time.”
However, it’s not just the fee – believed to be around £100,000 – that they couldn’t agree on, as the ‘Loose Women’ panellist reportedly told producers she won’t be taking part in any morning training sessions and wants a huge say in the skimpy costumes she wants to wear on the ice.
A source said recently: “Katie considers herself a real catch for the show so she wants them to make it worth her while. Obviously this is her job so the money will be a big deciding factor for her.
“In addition, Kate wants to create her own training schedule and have the option to wear her own designs on the ice – in order to show off as much of her body as possible.
“They are well aware that Katie loves flashing the flesh and they’re trying to make it clear to her that it’s a family show. Although they weren’t impressed when she insisted on afternoon training sessions only, it’s something they can work with – but seductive outfits are not.”

Rian Johnson says Carrie Fisher’s scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi are emotional

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson has teased ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will feature “emotional” scenes with the late Carrie Fisher.
The movie legend reprised her role as General Leia Organa, alongside fellow veterans Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, in the seventh installment of the franchise before she tragically died in December last year.
But the 43-year-old filmmaker has revealed the latest film will be a “really sad, but really joyful” experience for filmgoers as it will remind fans about Carrie’s death.
Speaking to USA Today, Johnson said: “I felt very strongly that we don’t try and change her performance. It will be really sad, but really joyful.
“Having these scenes in the film recontextualises tragically with her not being here anymore, it’s incredibly emotional.
“For the next few months, seeing the fans… process the loss and celebrate her as Leis one last time, it’s going to be intense.
“I think it’s going to be really sad but really joyful, I hope. She really kicks butt as General Leia, and I’m happy for that.”
Hamill – who plays Luke Skywalker – recently promised fans they will “love” Carrie’s return as the iconic character in the upcoming new film, and he has revealed the creative team had to create a new ending for her character.
Speaking previously, he said: “You’re going to really love her in [‘Last Jedi’].
“I know they’re going to try and find a way to close her story in [Episode] nine that gives her the respect she deserves, because [Han Solo] was more prominent in [‘The Force Awakens’], Luke’s a little more prominent in Eight, and certainly Leia was meant to be more prominent in Nine.
“Worldwide, everyone feels that gap she left. But we all have to hang in there. And if she’s out there somewhere, we have to give her the one-finger salute. Come on everybody, for Carrie.”

Miles Teller struggled to get into character for Thank You For Service

OHMYGOSSIP — Miles Teller struggled to “relate” to his character in ‘Thank You For Your Service’.
The 30-year-old actor has been cast in the new biopic based on Sergeant Adam Schumann, who is trying to adjust to civilian life after he returns home from the war in Iraq, and the dark-haired star has admitted he has never had to deal with a film where he had to ask “many questions” to help prepare him for the role as he did with his latest project.
Speaking to Collider about his latest venture, he said: “For me, I never dealt with a movie to where I needed to ask as many questions as I did for this movie.
“You can’t relate. You really can’t. Either you’ve been to war or you haven’t. There was really nothing, I’ve experienced trauma and could relate on that level.
“But on the day to day, doing that job as a sergeant in the military, I had absolutely no foundation for it.”
The new film by Jason Hall is based on the memoirs of the soldier, and follows Sergeant Schumann, as well as other soldiers, on their journey to physical and emotional rehabilitation.
In order to prepare for the role Teller met with Schumann, as well as other people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), to educate him learn about the condition and to help him give an honest portrayal.
He said: “I read a lot of books on it and that gave me an introduction to Adam and post-traumatic stress disorder.
“[I also was] hanging around the guys. I learnt the most being around them and those who have lived through it.
“I certainly felt a lot of empathy. I am not a journalist but that empathy lead me to ask questions.”
Teller stars alongside Cecil M. Henry, Hayley Bennett and Scott Haze in the forthcoming production.
