Debbie McGee: ‘Strictly is helping me get back to that strong person I once was’

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie McGee says ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ has made her a “strong person”.
The 59-year-old television assistant tragically lost her husband Paul Daniels last year, but the star has admitted since competing on the BBC One programme she has started to feel “young and confident” and “like the old Debbie again”, which was how she felt when she first met her late spouse.
Writing in a column for the Telegraph, she said: “As the weeks have passed by, I’ve begun to feel like the old Debbie again. I haven’t had to do anything like this since I was young and confident. And I’ve certainly never had to bare my soul like this before. It’s brought back the feeling that I had when I met Paul. We were strong in our partnership and I always had him to hang on to. When he died, I lost that inner strength. Strictly is helping me get back to that strong person I once was.”
Debbie is set to wow crowds at Blackpool Tower this weekend as her and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice will dance the samba to Spice Girls tracks, but the star is surprised by her skill on the dancefloor, and that she is gyrating to songs by the hit 90s girl band at her age.
Speaking about her upcoming routine, she said: “We’re performing to songs by the Spice Girls, and, to be honest, it’s a bit crazy. I’m dancing on a podium for a start! And because the Tower Ballroom has a large dancefloor we’ve got four extra dancers in our routine. So yes, I’m going to be a Spice Girl. I can’t believe I’m doing this at my age, but I’m having fun and I’m a big fan of the Spice Girl that I’ll be playing.
“There are no lifts in our samba this week, and I think I’ll stay away from the rollercoasters. Instead, I’ll have a walk along the promenade and think of Paul, because we had many happy times in Blackpool.”

Iain Stirling’s mum will ‘mess’ people up who slam his work

OHMYGOSSIP — Iain Stirling has joked his “middle class mother” will “mess” anyone up who slams his work.
The 29-year-old comedian won over the hearts of the nation three years ago when he was hired to narrate the popular dating show ‘Love Island’ and, although he generally has good feedback from fans, he thinks his mum will have no trouble jumping to his defence if anyone criticises him.
Speaking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, which will air tomorrow (18.11.17), he said: “My mum is a middle class mum but she is Scottish, she’s middle class but if you turn on her son she will [mess] you up. She likes [my work]. They watch ‘Love Island’ which I’m not keen on, it’s just a bit awkward.”
The hunk – who is currently dating Laura Whitmore – has admitted not everyone is a fan of his jokes as he’s often “hated” by contestants’ parents.
He said recently: “Normally, if someone’s got a catchphrase, people hate me for it … a lot of people are fine with it but maybe their parents aren’t on board with it. If I say someone is a bit dull or something, they’ll say: ‘Oh my mum and dad think I’m quite fun.”
And, although he thoroughly enjoys his job, the hunk was once against reality TV.
He explained: “I hadn’t watched it. I love it so much now. I suppose it’s a bit of uninformed snobbery really – I just decided I wasn’t going to like reality TV and I watched it and it’s marvelous. When the money came in, reality TV I’m all about it.”
The fourth series has already been given the go ahead for next summer and Iain hopes he’s invited back to voice it because he’s got commitments now.
He added: “I hope I am, I want to be because I’ve got a mortgage now and stuff.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The title for the highly anticipated ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ sequel has been revealed.
The second of five adventures penned by ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling has been revealed to be called ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’.
Following on from the end of the first film, the sequel sees the Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald [Johnny Depp] escaping from the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA).
Now the wizard is gathering followers to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In order to stop him and his plans, a young Albus Dumbledore [Jude Law] enlists the help of Magizoologist Newt Scamander [Eddie Redmayne] who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead.
Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested even among friends and family.
The new film sees Redmayne and Depp reprising their respective roles alongside a number of other returning casts Katherine Waterston, 37, as Auror Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol, 32, as Queenie and Dan Fogler, 41, as Jacob Fowalski.
Ezra Miller, 25, is back as Credence, Zoe Kravitz, 28, will take on the role of Leta Lestrange and Callum Turner, 27, will play Newt’s brother Theseus Scamander.
David Yates, who helmed four ‘Harry Potter’ films and the first ‘Fantastic Beasts’, is set to return to the director’s seat for the next instalment with Rowling penning the script for the story which is set in 1927.
It will be produced by David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
On Wednesday (15.11.17), the film was announced to be heading to cinemas on November 16, 2018, on the movie’s official Twitter account.
The magical franchise takes place years before Harry Potter is born or embarks on his adventures at Hogwarts and even before the rise of Lord Voldemort and follows Newt Scamander who travels the world protecting endangered magical creatures and documenting them.
The adventures are set in the same universe that Rowling has created and will have numerous direct links to the world the author first created in her books and which was shown on screen in the movies starring Daniel Radcliffe as the bespectacled magical lad.

Danny McBride doesn’t want to mess up Halloween

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny McBride hopes he doesn’t “f**k” up his upcoming ‘Halloween’ movie.
The 40-year-old actor-and-comedian has co-written the next instalment of the popular franchise – which was started off by horror legend John Carpenter back in 1978 – with director David Gordon Green, and McBride admits he’s very wary that he doesn’t “piss people off” with his interpretation of serial killer Michael Myers.
Speaking to Yahoo.com, McBride said: “I just hope that we don’t f**k it up and p**s people off. This is such a diehard fan base. You don’t want horror fans being your enemies because they show up at your house with masks on.
“We are diehard fans of ‘Halloween’. We’re watching all the sequels and where things have taken left turns here and there that maybe bites for fans, and at least trying to deliver what we would have wanted to see. Hopefully that will line up with most fans.”
McBride maybe best known for his comedy work, including his lead role as Kenny Powers in ‘Eastbound & Down’, but has said his interpretation of ‘Halloween’ is a “straight horror”.
He said: “I think you should be very scared. I mean, this isn’t a comedy at all. I think there was, like, maybe one joke on the page, but the rest is straight horror. So hopefully it gets in people’s heads and keeps them up late at night.”
The original movie began with scenes showing six-year-old Michael Myers murder his 17-year-old sister and, after being locked away in a high security mental institute for 15 years, escaped and returned to his hometown to find his next victims, targeting babysitters on Halloween evening.
But the white-masked killer meets his match in babysitter Laurie Strode – portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis.
In September, Curtis revealed she will be reprising her role for one final battle with Myers.
Curtis has reprised her famous role three times since Carpenter’s original, in 1981’s ‘Halloween II’, 1998’s ‘Halloween H20: 20 Years Later’ and 2002’s ‘Halloween: Resurrection’ but the new film from Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures is being billed as the “final” Halloween.

Ron Howard enjoyed the challenge of Solo: A Star Wars Story

OHMYGOSSIP — Ron Howard enjoyed the challenge of making ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’.
The 63-year-old filmmaker took over the director’s chair from Phil Lord and Chris Miller – who left the prequel spin-off due to creative differences – and although he felt the pressure of contributing a tale to the ‘Star Wars’ universe he relished every aspect of the job.
Speaking to ABC News, Howard said: “Those are challenging projects. And they take, you know, a lot of very talented people’s energy to try to live up to the legacy of ‘Star Wars’ and everything that it means. Of course, no spoilers coming from me but I had a great experience and I think fans are going to really enjoy it.”
‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ focuses on Han Solo – the Millennium Falcon owning space smuggler who becomes one of the heroes of the Rebel Alliance in their mission to destroy the Empire.
The movie will focus on a younger version of the titular character, with Alden Ehrenreich taking over the iconic role from Harrison Ford.
Han and Chewbacca will be seen first meeting Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and they will also encounter Woody Harrelson’s alter-ego Beckett, who is believed to be a mentor to young Han who guides him on his journey to becoming an intergalactic criminal.
And Howard recently revealed two new characters who will be appearing in the hotly-anticipated movie – Star Wars’ comic book characters Tag and Bink.
The characters were created by Kevin Rubio for ‘Tag & Bink Were Here’, a series of comic books in which the pair affect the events of the first ‘Star Wars’ trilogy and the prequels.
‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ is slated for release in May 2018.

Brooklynn Prince in talks to star in The One and Only Ivan

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooklynn Prince is currently in talks to star alongside Angelina Jolie in ‘The One and Only Ivan’.
The seven-year-old actress recently starred alongside Willem Dafoe in ‘The Florida Project’ and it appears Prince will next star alongside ‘Maleficent’ actress Jolie in the new Disney adaptation of Katherine Applegate’s book.
The children’s novel – which was illustrated by Patricia Castelao and published in 2011 – follows a silverback gorilla named Ivan who lives in a cage in a shopping centre with an elephant named Stella and stray dog called Bob.
Ivan has forgotten what his life was like before he lived in the shopping centre, but when a baby elephant named Ruby enters, his life is turned upside down when he finds himself taking care of her and begins to rediscover his memories.
He decided to concoct the baby elephant away from their abusive owner.
The movie will be helmed by Thea Sharrock – who directed ‘Me Before You’ – with a script adapted by Mike White. Brigham Taylor, Allison Shearmur and Jolie are set to produce.
Shearmur was one of the producers behind Disney’s retelling of ‘Cinderella’ as well as working on ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.
‘The One and Only Ivan’ is slated to be a live-action hybrid with Jolie and Prince providing voices for both Stella and Ruby respectively.
Prince’s breakout role as Moonee in ‘The Florida Project’ – helmed by Sean Baker – has already been dubbed for an Oscar.
The film is set on a stretch of highway just outside the imagined utopia of Disney World and follows Moonee and her rebellious mother Halley (Bria Vinai) over the course of a summer.
The mother and daughter live week to week at The Magic Castle – a budget hotel managed by Bobby (Dafoe) – and despite her harsh surrounding, Moonee has no trouble making each day a celebration of life.
However, unknown to her, her fantasy is supported by the sacrifice of her mother who is forced to explore increasingly dangerous possibilities to provide for her daughter.

Jamie Bell didn’t know if he was good enough to play alongside Annette Bening

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Bell didn’t know if he was good enough to star alongside Annette Bening.
The 31-year-old actor stars alongside the Oscar nominee in ‘Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool’, and admitted he had to go away and work out how to “hold my own” against the 59-year-old Hollywood legend.
Speaking to Shortlist Magazine, Bell said: “It’s a masterclass in acting because you need to go away and figure out how to hold your own against someone like Bening.
“I didn’t know if I could do it: being her equal, being her match, pushing up against her. From the get-go, that was the thing I was going, ‘Oh, s**t about’.”
The film sees Bening portraying real life actress Gloria Grahame who meets the unknown actor Peter Turner (Bell) in 1978 leading to the two starting a vibrant love affair despite their age difference.
‘Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool’ is based on Turner’s memoirs about his affair with the B-Movie actress.
Although shooting to fame when he was only 14 in ‘Billy Elliot’ and having a successful career after, Bell revealed he is proud to still be “f**king working”.
He said: “One thing I am proud of over the past decade is still to be f**king working. I certainly didn’t see that longevity coming when I started out, and you can’t expect it, either. I’m not entitled to work.
“It’s only relatively recently that I’ve been taking it more seriously. Work excites me, more than ever now. It doesn’t matter what it is, you have to get up to try to hit the ball. F**k it, you’re going to miss it nine times out of 10, but there will be one f**king time when you hit it.”

Brett Ratner won’t be involved with Wonder Woman 2, says Gal Gadot

OHMYGOSSIP — Gal Gadot has confirmed Brett Ratner won’t be involved with ‘Wonder Woman 2’.
The 32-year-old actress is poised to reprise the central role in the much-anticipated sequel, but she’s revealed that the Hollywood producer – who has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women, including Olivia Munn – won’t be connected to the project.
Gal, who is said to have given Warner Bros. an ultimatum about Ratner’s potential involvement with the film, explained: “Everyone knew what was the right thing to do … a lot has been written about my views and the way that I feel, and everyone knows the way that I feel because I’m not hiding anything.
“But the truth is, there’s so many people involved in making this movie, it’s not just me, and they all echoed the same sentiments. You know what I mean.”
Gal said that she and the film studio share the same opinion on the issue.
She told ‘Today’: “Everyone knew what was the right thing to do, but there was nothing for me to actually come and say, ’cause it was already done before this article came out, you know?'”
The ‘Justice League’ actress previously praised women for speaking out about sexual misconduct in Hollywood.
She wrote on Instagram earlier this month: “Bullying and sexual harassment is unacceptable! I stand by all the courageous women confronting their fears and speaking out. Together we stand. We are all united in this time of change.”
Meanwhile, Ratner’s lawyer Marty Singer has denied all of the original allegations made against the producer.

Ferne McCann breaks silence after ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins is found guilty of acid attack

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann is determined to be the “best mother” for her daughter now that the little one’s father Arthur Collins has been found guilty of throwing acid over revellers at a nightclub in London this year.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star has broken her silence two days after her former flame was convicted of five counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and nine counts of actual bodily harm at Wood Green Crown Court after 14 people were badly burnt when he sprayed the corrosive substance at a crowd on the dance floor in the nightclub Mangle E8 in Dalston on April 17.
A representative for the 27-year-old beauty told the Mail Online: “Ferne’s thoughts are of course with the innocent people caught up in the events at Mangle last April. No one should ever be faced with violence on a night out. Having given birth days ago, Ferne is focusing on being the best mother she can be.”
Ferne gave birth to her first child Sunday two weeks ago and, although she was forced to go through it alone because her beau was behind bars, she’s accepted that the tiny tot will grow up without a father.
The statement added: “She long ago accepted that she would be doing this alone and is determined to provide the best possible future for her daughter.”
Arthur is currently waiting to find out his punishment but he’s been told he faces a “substantial” jail sentence for carrying out one of Britain’s worst acid attacks over the Easter weekend earlier this year.
The 25 year old admitted to throwing a bottle of liquid over the clubbers at around 1am in the busy nightclub, but he claimed he didn’t know it was acid and thought it was a date rape drug because he’d snatched the container from two men after overhearing them talking about spiking a girl’s drink.
Arthur had been out celebrating with his friend Andre Phoenix after announcing to his family just hours before at a barbecue that he and Ferne – who got together earlier this year – were expecting a baby.
After the serious attack, in which Arthur walked away from claiming he had “no idea of an incident unfolding” despite people screaming, police tracked him down at a house in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.
As they entered the property, he jumped out of the bathroom window – fracturing both of his feet – before lunging over garden fences to get away. He was eventually tasered by officers and taken to the station.
During the trial, Arthur was pressed on a bottle of liquid he had in his car because he’d previously told his sister it was “acid” but he told the jury that it was amino acid shampoo to combat his baldness.
Arthur’s friend Andre was also charged with four counts of GBH and two counts of ABH, which he pleaded not guilty to, after he was seen holding his pal back as he threw the acid.
But the jury declared him not guilty after he told them that he had only stepped in to separate Arthur and another male when they started squaring up to one another.
He went on to say he doesn’t “roll with acid” and would just “knock them out” if someone angered him.
Andre – who suffered a burn to the face from the acid during the scuffle – wept as he was cleared.
Ferne split with Arthur as soon as he was arrested.

Louise Thompson used to blackout from booze

OHMYGOSSIP — Louise Thompson used to drink to the point of “blacking out.”
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star may be an advocate for healthy living now that she’s with her partner Ryan Libbey – who is a personal trainer – but she has admitted she didn’t treat her body with the respect it deserved when she first started out on the show and used to hit the bottle hard when she was dealing with any relationship woes on screen.
Speaking to Happiful, she said: “My mental state was all over the place. I didn’t think of myself as a human being who I should look after, I just bulldozed through life.”
The 27-year-old beauty was still studying at Edinburgh university when she joined the E4 show in 2011 and found it a challenge commuting between there and London.
She explained: “I was studying, then getting on a train to film the show, and none of it was making me happy. I’d go out, get so wasted to the point of blacking out, and then be really hungover the whole of the next day.”
However, Louise is glad she didn’t turn violent when she drunk – but she did make a fool of herself and had to go round picking up the pieces for the next few days afterwards.
She added: “I would go out and get really drunk and forget about everything.
“I was never a horrible drunk or aggressive, but I would embarrass myself, so I would have to pick up the pieces for the next few days.”
Meanwhile, although she’s still enjoying her time on the show, Louise would also like to put her geography and economics degree to good use by becoming a weather girl.
She said recently: “I have no idea what I’ll do after ‘Made in Chelsea’. I don’t know if I could get taken seriously in a boardroom anymore. I want to be a weather woman. Brightening up people’s mornings or if you’re living in the UK, probably make you more depressed. I would love to do presenting, a lot of people tell me that I’d be good at presenting. I get along with everybody. Maybe I could be a spokeswoman.”

Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton to get matching tattoos

OHMYGOSSIP — Strictly Come Dancing’s Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton are to get matching tattoos now they’ve got to Blackpool.
The 42-year-old comedienne and her professional dance partner have waltzed their way into week nine of the BBC competition and are both planning on getting “I love Grimsby” inked on their skin to celebrate getting to perform at the city’s famous Tower Ballroom.
Speaking about getting the tribute to Kevin’s hometown – which led to him having the nickname ‘Kevin from Grimsby’ – on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ podcast, Susan laughed: “I’m going to get ‘I love Grimsby’ tattooed on my foot.
“Not during the competition because I don’t think you can have an open wound but after the competition I’m getting ‘I love Grimsby’ tattooed on my right foot – specifically my right foot because it’s my best foot and you’ve taught my best foot how to dance.
“My left is rubbish, it’s the one I’m meant to close with and – as Darcey always says – it will be nice if you closed your legs once in a while.
“My left side of my body is not good, I’m dominant on my right.”
Kevin, 35, says he’ll be getting his inked on his right hand, because he already has a heart he can add to.
He replied: “And if you do that, I’m going to get one on my right hand.
“I have a heart on my hand and I’m going to turn that into ‘I love Grimsby’.”
Susan says she’s found it strange having a man bossing her about on the show, and gushed over her “sweetheart” partner.
She said: “I’ve never had a man tell me what to do. This is the first time in my life a man has told me what to do and I’ve listened because even when I had a job as a lawyer, I didn’t really listen to my boss then.
“You’re a sweetheart. You have to ask really nicely. I do it eventually.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns live from Blackpool Tower on Saturday night (18.11.17), where Susan and Kevin will need to impress viewers and the judges with their Paso Doble.

Debbie McGee has a ‘deep friendship’ with Giovanni Pernice

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie McGee has a “deep friendship” with Giovanni Pernice.
The 59-year-old television assistant and the professional dancer, 27, have set tongues wagging for weeks over their on-screen chemistry on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ but she’s adamant they’re not having a “love affair” and just have a very close platonic relationship.
Speaking to the i newspaper, she said: “We really have a close relationship. It’s a special friendship … it’s not a love affair, it’s an incredible, deep, friendship.”
But, although she would love to find love again following the death of her husband Paul Daniels last year, Debbie doesn’t have time to get out there and meet new people.
She explained: “This programme takes over your life. I don’t see anybody, I haven’t been going out because it’s so exhausting. Nobody knows who they are attracted to or who is going to ask you out, so I have no idea!”
Debbie has thrown herself head first into the ballroom and latin competition over the past two months, which has seen her score the first 40 of the series with her tango, and she believes that’s because she can feel her late husband’s presence in the room.
She said: “I had a really emotional previous two weeks to this, because there was a big tribute to Paul on Channel 5 and I had to do a lot of interviews recalling Paul, and so it got to me … I know how much he would just love it. But because he also did the show [in 2010, when he was paired with Ola Jordan] and lots of people on the show got to know him, his presence is kind of around and I think emotionally it’s got to me more than I thought it would, is how I could describe it.”

Chanelle Hayes speaks out on love split

OHMYGOSSIP — Chanelle Hayes wasn’t “planning” to have a baby with Ryan Oates.
The former ‘Big Brother’ star recently split from her boyfriend just a few weeks after giving birth to their son Frankie, now 11 weeks, and she admits that it was probably too soon in their relationship for them to have a child.
Chanelle – who met Ryan on Tinder in February 2016 said: “We weren’t planning on having a baby, that just happened…
I didn’t want… I wouldn’t change my children for the world, but it wasn’t in the plan.”
Asked if she felt it was too soon for them to have a baby, she added: “It was not in the plan, it really wasn’t.”
But the 29-year-old star – who also has six-year-old son Blakely with ex-partner Matthew Bates – insists Ryan was thrilled when they found out she was pregnant.
In an emotional interview on ‘Loose Women’, in which she repeatedly burst into tears before being able to complete her sentences, she said: “He was over the moon, really pleased both of us were. We had a lot of plans together.”
And Chanelle doesn’t think there’s any hope for a reconciliation.
She said: “I’m moving back with my mum this weekend.”
Asked if that means she’s ruled out any possibility of getting back together, she said: “It’s not gonna, if it was me I’d marry him tomorrow, I love him to pieces.”
Despite her heartbreak, Chanelle wants to be “fair” and insistent that Ryan is still a good parent.
She said: “He’s not walked away from them, he’s walked away from me. I’m just trying to be fair.
“It’s horrible, I feel like every part of my body hurts, I’ve been in my room every night crying…
Everything is gonna be fine, the boys are gonna be happy, Ryan is a really good dad, I’m a really good dad, we just need to get through this where it hurts and it’ll be over.
“I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me, it’s my own fault for putting it on Twitter, it’s not very classy is it?”
Meanwhile, Ryan has vowed to keep silent on the subject.
In a statement read out by ‘Loose Women’ panellist Jane Moore, he said: “Chanelle has presented a selective account of our relationship that doesn’t necessarily reflect the truth. I wish for these personal matters to remain private, and I’ll continue to keep my soul focus on doing my very best for Frankie and Blakely.”
