Tyger Drew-Honey working in golf shop

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyger Drew-Honey is working part-time in a golf shop.
The ‘Outnumbered’ star stunned onlookers recently when he was spotted having a two-day induction at American Golf in Birmingham in the hope of bagging a temporary job with the company so that he can pull in some extra cash while he writes his own sitcom.
An onlooker told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone had to go round introducing ourselves and he said, ‘You might recognise my face as I’ve done work on TV’. It’s quite a basic job and an unusual step for somebody who’s been acting from a young age.”
The 21-year-old actor – who is currently in between jobs – jumped at the chance to work at the course because he’s clued up on the sport and is hoping he’ll get a discount.
A source said: “It’s a no brainier really for him.
“He loves golf and this means he gets a big discount on equipment and free use of the facilities while earning a bit of pocket money.”
A representative for the star added: “He’s helping out in the pro shop between acting roles to gain a better understanding of the sport.”
Tyger shot to fame in 2007 when ‘Outnumbered’, in which he played Jake, hit television screens. The comedy ran for 38 episodes – five series – during which time it had three festive specials before it came to an end in March 2014.
Bosses then decided to bring the show back last year for a one-off Christmas special in order to give fans a glimpse of the cast – comprised also of Daniel Roche, Ramona Marquez, Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner – all grown up.
However, although the special received rave reviews, Tyger doesn’t think there will be an opportunity for the programme to return to screens permanently.
He said recently: “When we did the press for the Christmas special one of the writers and directors Andy Hamilton did say it’s something they’d like to pop into every year or so. I think the show still gets comedy, a lot of people think its lost its charm cause we’re not as young anymore. I think another series is slightly unlikely but another special or two or three in the coming five years is probably very likely.”

Wayne Bridge more famous for I’m A Celeb than football

OHMYGOSSIP — Wayne Bridge thinks he’s more famous for taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ last year than he is for his impressive football career.
The 37-year-old retired footballer may have played for the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, Manchester City and Fulham during his Premier League career, but he believes people recognise him more now following his stint on the creepy-crawly show in 2016.
Speaking to Askfans.co.uk, he said: “I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did and now I’m probably more famous for I’m A Celeb than being a footballer.
“I walk down the street now and the amount of people that watch it, I get stopped constantly mainly because of that. I loved it and if I could re-live it I would.”
The sportsman couldn’t believe how well he adapted to jungle life because he used to be so terrified of bugs but saw past his anxiety in order to bring home the grub.
He explained: “I’ve got so many memories. Unbelievable. When it’s on now I wish I was doing it again! I was so nervous, but it was an unbelievable experience. I loved living outdoors. I’m scared of everything creepy crawly and there’s me sleeping in the jungle like a baby. It didn’t really affect me for some reason. When it came to any task I just zoned out. My competitiveness came out and when it was a tarantula, snake, anything I was just looking and concentrating on the stars. I just didn’t want to lose.”
And, although it’s been over a year since he took part in the programme, he has admitted he’s still in touch with his former camp mates via Whatsapp.
He said: “I had a great crowd too. A really good group. There’s still a group chat going now so we were chatting about it on the first episode.
“I spoke to Ola [Jordan] on the phone about it, said we should get Frankie [Bridge, his wife] and James [Jordan, Ola’s husband] on it so we could go for a holiday while they’re on the show! I spoke to Carol [Vorderman] and she said the men aren’t as good looking, thanks Carol! I’m sure she didn’t mean me, more like Joel and Adam.
“We speak to Larry [Lamb] quite a lot too. He’s a top guy. Everyone is still in touch.”

Mollie King admits Strictly setbacks damaged her confidence

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King’s confidence took a knock after she found herself in the bottom two on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former Saturdays star is currently appearing on the BBC dance show, and Mollie – who managed to avoid the dreaded dance-off over the weekend – had confessed her earlier setbacks caused her to doubt herself.
The blonde beauty told the ‘Strictly’ spin-off show ‘It Takes Two’: “I think having that week avoiding the bottom two really helps pick you up. Being in the bottom two does knock your confidence.
“Being in Blackpool, I never imagined we’d get that far, so I thought it was amazing. To see how far we’d come from that first Jive is incredible, you just have to take it in.”
The most-recent dance-off was contested by Debbie McGee and Jonnie Peacock, with Jonnie ultimately being eliminated from the show.
And after rediscovering her self-belief at the weekend, Mollie is excited by the prospect of performing the Quickstep with her partner AJ Pritchard.
Looking forward to the challenge, Mollie said: “It’s the quickest I’ve ever moved and if I don’t move, I get walked on.”
The singer also admitted she’s already found it to be a tough dance to come to terms with.
Asked whether her feet were taking a beating, the 30-year-old star shared: “There’s been a few crushes in there. My trainers that were once white are no more.”
Despite this, AJ is exited about their dance at the weekend and he feels the Quickstep is perfectly suited to Mollie’s positive outlook.
He explained: “People at home can feel your excitement. You can smile, Mollie loves to smile.”

Dee Rees: Mudbound is more relevant after white supremacy marches

OHMYGOSSIP — Dee Rees believes audiences will be more receptive of her new film ‘Mudbound’ following the white supremacy marches in Charlottesville.
The 40-year-old filmmaker helmed the new racial drama – which follows the unlikely friendship between two men, one white and one black, after they return from World War Two – and admitted she thought the plot could have been “easy to dismiss” before the race marches in August.
In an interview with Vogue, Rees said: “Before Charlottesville, it might have been easy to dismiss the plot of Mudbound as no longer relevant. Now, I feel like audiences will be more receptive to the material – and to interrogating their personal histories after watching it. Even at the Sundance Film Festival in January, I overheard some people saying that the film was good but that a certain scene with the Ku Klux Klan was over the top. Well, there’s no way that anybody could say that today. Mudbound highlights the fact that we’re still battling a lot of the same issues as we were all of those decades ago.”
The Netflix film – which has already been tipped for Oscar success – stars Carey Mulligan, Jason Mitchell, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Clarke and Mary J Blige, which is based on Hillary Jordan’s novel of the same name.
Rees isn’t the only member of the cast and crew who believes the new movie will now impact society with singer-turned-actress Blige recently saying the script is “so relevant”.
The 46-year-old actress stars as Florence Jackson and after one particular scene where her on-screen son gets lynched, Blige was “destroyed” after someone was lynched in Atlanta the day after.
She said: “The script was so relevant, which is really sad. The day we did a particular scene, I got a text to tell me someone had been lynched in Atlanta. All day long I was destroyed, so the tears were from the divorce but also the disbelief there was a lynching.
“And was this the only one we know about? It’s still happening – and with our leader saying it’s cool, it’s awful. If this film is going to be a vessel to help see ourselves clear then I’m glad I was a part of it.”

Andy Serkis joins new dark comedy Flarksy

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Serkis has joined the cast of the dark comedy ‘Flarksy’.
The 50-year-old actor – who is best known for his role as Gollum in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ franchise – will star as an international media mogul in the new comedy, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Serkis – who has recently released his directorial debut ‘Breathe’ starring Andrew Garfield – will star alongside Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron.
The film, which is to be helmed by Jonathan Levine – who worked with Rogen on the cancer comedy ’50/50′ – will be distributed by Lionsgate and is currently shooting in Montreal.
‘Flarksy’ follows Fred Flarksy (Rogen) who is a down-on-his luck journalist who decides to try to pursue his childhood crush and former babysitter (Theron) who has go on to become the Secretary of State.
Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver are producing through their Point Grey banner alongside Theron.
The film is also slated to be released in February 2019.
Serkis – who is known for his motion capture roles – recently revealed he “misses” the character of Caesar, the ape he brought to life in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise and slammed those who discredit motion capture acting, as he says the art form is “no different” than live-action acting.
Speaking to Deadline, he said: “There is no difference from an acting point of view. The approach is no different to a live-action role. It’s not standing in a voice booth for two hours every six months, it’s living with that character day-in and day-out on set for the entire duration of the shoot, living and breathing every single moment, making acting choices that you would do in the conventional sense. The performance is not augmented or changed by a committee of animators. It is honoured, and the fidelity is sought to translate that performance. In the past, it’s almost felt like performance capture is kind of like a drug-assisted sport. Now that’s just not true. The performance is the performance.”

Armie Hammer’s respect for Chalamet

OHMYGOSSIP — Armie Hammer has described his ‘Call Me By Your Name’ co-star Timothée Chalamet as an “incredible human being”.
The 31-year-old actor plays the role of Oliver in the coming-of-age drama based on the novel of the same name by André Aciman, alongside Chalament as Elio, and Hammer admitted his co-star is “so unguarded” and also spilled he is “an excellent rapper” away from the film set.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Hammer said: “He’s an excellent rapper. It’s not even a joke … there are also videos of him rapping online. It’s amazing, it’s amazing. He’s got like, a massive stage presence, and he’s so comfortable. Timmy is … he is an incredible human being with such a rich and vibrant internal life that he wears so close to the surface. He is so unguarded, and it’s almost like a gift to the world around him. Because he could very easily protect himself more, but he doesn’t, and that’s what makes him wonderful.”
‘Call Me By Your Name’ – which was helmed by Luca Guadagnino – follows the story of a young Italian man named Elio who meets Oliver after he visits the country to stay at his parents’ villa.
The pair then develop a passionate relationship, as they bond over their shared Jewish heritage and their sexuality.
Hammer recently revealed he had such a great time working on the love story, he’d be open to “anything” Guadagnino wanted to do in the future.
Asked about the filmmaker’s hints about a second movie, he said: “You never know with Luca. Sometimes he’s joking sometimes I think he’s not. People always say, ‘You left a small part of the book out’.
“Well yeah, it might be a small part of the book in terms of overall page count, but it spans 20-30 years. Luca is joking about coming back to it but my answer to that is, I’ll do anything Luca wants.”

Rian Johnson says Lando Calrissian isn’t in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson has confirmed Lando Calrissian will not appear in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The smuggler – who was played by Billy Dee Williams – first appeared in ‘Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back as a close friend to Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and fans speculated he would return in the eighth installment following the death of his friend.
However, filmmaker Johnson has revealed he would have loved to see the character return but it was “never really something that came up”.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Johnson said: “No, and I don’t want fans to get their hopes up. He’s not in the film and it was never really something that came up. I mean, I loved that character.
“It would have been fun to see him, but it’s just not something that ever really had a place in the story.”
Although being ruled out to return, Williams, now 80, often appears at conventions and his manager Brad Kramer also revealed he was hoping to return to the popular sci-fi franchise.
Kramer said: “Billy respects the studio and all involved in the decision but would be happy to be in any future ‘Star Wars’ films if asked.”
Despite Williams not returning, the character will be re-imagined by Donald Glover in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off prequel, ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, alongside Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo.
‘The Last Jedi’ is set to feature other returning stars including Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa.

Tom Hollander joins Marie Colvin biopic A Private War

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hollander has joined the new Marie Colvin biopic ‘A Private War’.
The 50-year-old actor – who recently starred alongside Andrew Garfield in ‘Breathe’ – has joined Rosamund Pike, Jamie Dornan and Jeremie Laheurte in the Matthew Heineman biopic about the American journalist, Variety reports.
Although it’s known that Pike, 38, will star as the journalist, both Hollander and Dornan’s roles in the movie are yet to be revealed.
Laheurte, 27, who starred in ‘Blue is the Warmest Color’, is set to star as the famed French war photographer Remi Ochlik in the new biopic.
‘A Private War’ will follow the American journalist Marie Colvin, who worked for British newspaper The Sunday Times from 1985.
Colvin covered major conflicts across the world, from Chechyna to Sri Lanka where she lost the sight in her left eye in 2001 due to a blast from a Sri Lankan rocket propelled grenade.
Colvin and Ochlik were both killed during a rocket attack while covering the Seige of Homs in Syria in 2012 while reporting for the newspaper.
The script, penned by Arash Amel, is based on a 2012 Vanity Fair article, written by Marie Brenner, entitled ‘Marie Colvin’s Private War’.
Meanwhile, producing is Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Kamala Films’ Marissa McMahon, with Erica Lee serving as the executive producer.
Pike has just finished filming Scott Cooper’s ‘Hostiles’ opposite Christian Bale and Ben Foster.
Dornan, on the other hand, is set to reprise his role as Christian Grey in the final installment of the popular franchise, which is set to be released next Valentine’s Day (02.14.18)
The Hollywood hunk is also set to appear as Will Scarlet in ‘Robin Hood Origins’.
The film – which also features Taron Egerton as the titular character, Jamie Foxx as Little John, Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck – is scheduled to be released on September 21, 2018.

Andy Serkis misses Planet of the Apes films

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Serkis is “feeling the loss” of no longer playing Caesar in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ movies.
The 53-year-old actor provided the motion capture for the intelligent chimpanzee in the trilogy of rebooted movies based on the popular franchise which began with French author Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel ‘La Planète des Singes’, and was made famous by the 1968 film adaptation, ‘Planet of the Apes’.
And since the release of the final movie in the new trilogy ‘War For The Planet of the Apes’ earlier this year, Andy has admitted he is saddened by the fact he will no longer get the chance to bring Caesar to life.
He said: “I really feel the loss of not being able to play that character anymore. It’s been thrilling at every turn, and a real challenge; a massive challenge with each movie. There are key points along the way where he shifts and they’ve all been incredibly fascinating to chart.”
The star admitted play the chimp was an “extraordinary journey”, as it allowed him to explore the “human condition” in a unique way.
He added: “If that character was a human being, it would be an extraordinary journey. But as an ape and having that kind of filter, it’s that times 10 really; because we’re able to look at the human condition through the eyes of apes, it just elevates it into something else.”
And Andy – who is known for playing motion capture roles such as Gollum in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ franchise – has slammed those who discredit motion capture acting, as he says the art form is “no different” than live-action acting.

James Cameron: ‘Avatar 2’ still in test stages

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron has admitted shooting for ‘Avatar 2’ is still only in the test stages.
The hotly anticipated sequel to the Oscar-winning 2009 fantasy film has already had its release date pushed back several times due to the challenges of shooting motion capture under water, where the sequel is set.
Now, the 63-year-old director has told movie website Collider.com that successfully shooting a full scene underwater was only achieved last week.
James said: “We’ve done a tremendous amount of testing, and we did it successfully, for the first time, just last Tuesday (14.11.17). We actually played an entire scene underwater with our young cast. We’ve got six teenagers and one seven-year-old, and they’re all playing a scene underwater.
“We’ve been training them for six months now, with how to hold their breath, and they’re all up in the two to four minute range. They’re all perfectly capable of acting underwater, very calmly while holding their breath. We’re not doing any of this on scuba. And we’re getting really good data, beautiful character motion and great facial performance capture. We’ve basically cracked the code.”
Earlier this year the production was forced to announce it would not be completed in time for its previous release date of December 21, 2018.
And the ‘Titanic’ director has revealed he doesn’t expect to finish test stages until January 2018.
He said: “Now, we’re still working in our small test tank. We graduate to our big tank in January. There’s a tremendous amount of water work across ‘Avatar 2’ and 3. It’s ongoing into 4 and 5, but the emphasis is on 2 and 3.”
Following the huge success of epic space adventure ‘Avatar’ – which starred Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaver, and was nominated for nine Oscars – James set about writing the sequels, insisting he wanted to shoot them underwater.
But he admitted water has been his enemy.
He said: “Well, we’re doing it. It’s never been done before and it’s very tricky because our motion capture system, like most motion capture systems, is what they call optical base, meaning that it uses markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras.
“The problem with water is not the underwater part, but the interface between the air and the water, which forms a moving mirror. That moving mirror reflects all the dots and markers, and it creates a bunch of false markers. It’s a little bit like a fighter plane dumping a bunch of chaff to confuse the radar system of a missile. It creates thousands of false targets, so we’ve had to figure out how to get around that problem, which we did.
“Basically, whenever you add water to any problem, it just gets ten times harder. So, we’ve thrown a lot of horsepower, innovation, imagination and new technology at the problem, and it’s taken us about a year and a half now to work out how we’re going to do it.”

Alison Hammond snuck mobile past I’m A Celebrity producers

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond gave the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ bosses a “dud” phone before she went into the jungle so that she could speak to her family.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter entered the famous Croc Creek six days after the rest of the contestants when she took part in the creepy-crawly show in 2010 and, although she was meant to hand over her electronics before she went into isolation ahead of her stint, she came up with a cunning plan to ensure she could speak to her mother and son in the 10 days leading up to her appearance on the programme.
Speaking on the brunch time show on Wednesday (22.11.17), she said: “Because I’m a reality TV veteran I took two phones, I gave them a dud one and kept the other one. SO as soon as I was in the hotel I was on the phone to my mum, like, ‘Alright mum, whose in the jungle, what’s going on?’ It also meant I could speak to my son every day, so for 10 days I had a phone. When I had to go in, I turned it off and put it into my suitcase because I thought they would have checked it, but you know what? They never checked anything, I could have taken it in. I’m sure I would have been busted quickly but I could have took it in the dunnie and used it.”
And, although the celebrities aren’t allowed their phones in the camp, they are allowed one luxury item – and the 42-year-old comedienne chose Vaseline because she smothered it under her boobs to stop them from chaffing from the heat.
She explained: “I never used the shower to be honest. They give you a deodorant, it’s an organic one so it doesn’t smell great. They give you a deodorant, a lip balm, a mirror, a toothbrush and then your luxury item. My luxury item was Vaseline … Because I’ve got big boobs I had Vaseline so I could rub it in to stop them chaffing.”

Jack Maynard takes down Facebook page

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Maynard has taken down his Facebook page.
The 22-year-old internet sensation is currently on a flight back to the UK after being kicked out of the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ jungle following a number of allegations made against him, and it seems his management aren’t taking any chances with more things coming to light as his official account has been taken offline for now.
Jack’s agent made the decision to pull him out of the show last night after a number of tweets posted online five years ago containing racist remarks resurfaced.
A spokesperson for the young star said in a statement: “In the last few days Jack has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on ‘I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here’ – filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact with the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.
“Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show.
“Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far.”
The YouTuber spent a few hours at a boutique hotel on Hope Island on the Gold Coast after he was pulled out of the camp, before having a meeting with bosses and his management team about going home early to escape questioning by the media.
Jack – who is the brother of Conor Maynard – has since offered a grovelling apology for the tweets, which he, himself, has called “inflammatory” and “insulting”.
In one post made back in June 2011, he said he was “at alices with my n****s!” and he also repeatedly called people “retards”.
A spokeswoman for the vlogger told The Sun Online: “Jack is ashamed of these tweets, many were deleted a long time ago.
“He would never use that language now and realises this kind of retaliatory, inflammatory, insulting language is completely unacceptable.”

Prue Leith regrets stealing mother’s friend’s husband

OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith still regrets stealing her mother’s friend’s husband – almost 60 years later.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge had a 13-year love affair with Rayne Kruger while he was married to his wife Anne – a friend of her family – and, although she’s completely against adultery, she can’t help but think fondly about their “fantastic” relationship because they later married and had two children together.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (22.11.17), she said: “I’ve only fallen totally in love three times. The first time was with a family friend. He became my husband and we had a 40-year relationship and then he died.
“It was fantastic but the only trouble was he was my mum’s best friend’s husband and a family friend. So it was the most awful thing and the funny thing is, I still think adultery is wrong … I know it was the wrong thing to do but I was 20, he was nearly 40, he was like God to me and I absolutely loved it.”
Despite causing hurt, Prue was pleasantly surprised by how supportive her family was and is glad she and Anne managed to build a strong friendship in later years.
She explained: “Actually everyone was really good about it. Anne was his wife. She was a wonderful woman. He married a woman who was 20 years older than him and they had a 25-year marriage and then I came along and I was 20 years younger than him so between me and Anne there was nearly 40 years.
“She was a mother to me, she was lovely, and of course she was deeply unhappy but he was just determined that we would stay friends and the families wouldn’t split. Anne would come and stay at weekends with us and I remember Anne and I went to a garden party together at Buckingham Palace in our posh hats. We were good friends.”
After Rayne’s death in 2002, the 77-year-old restaurateur went on to find love again.
She said: “He’s called John Playfair. I refer to him as my toyboy, which is a bit of joke because he’s 71 but he seems very young to me.
“You do all those things like waiting for the phone to ring and thinking: ‘Is this text a bit too forward?’ All that stuff that goes on at the beginning.”
The couple got married last year but still live in separate houses because they haven’t had the “energy” to sort through their “clobber” and combine it.
She added: “We still live in separate houses. We wake up together in my house, he then gives me a cup of tea, takes the dogs for the walk and then vanishes for the rest of the day. He goes back to his house. The reason we haven’t amalgamate the houses yet – we will one day – is because you’ve got so much clobber … we haven’t had the energy to amalgamate it. But it works like a treat. He turns up again at 7pm. Sometimes he spends the day gardening for me. At the moment, the reason he’s not here, is he is planting an orchid at the moment so he’s knee-deep in mud.”

Matt Smith ‘can’t wait to see Jodie Whittaker play Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Smith “can’t wait” to see Jodie Whittaker play the new Time Lord in ‘Doctor Who’.
The 35-year-old actress’ casting has been met with mixed reviews since it was announced that she would be taking over from Peter Capaldi in the sci-fi series earlier this year, but the ‘Crown’ star – who played the time-travelling alien from 2009 until 2013 – is looking forward to seeing what new show runner Chris Chibnall, who will take over the reins from Steven Moffat, does with the show and how the brunette beauty depicts the iconic role.
Speaking to ‘BBC Newsbeat’, Matt said: “It will great to see Peter go and see what they do for their last Christmas one with Steven but I can’t wait to see Jodie in it. I’m really, really, excited. I love ‘Doctor Who’, I’m a fan and I can say that because I was in it!”
And Matt, 35, isn’t the only person pleased with the brave casting as David Bradley – who will appear in the forthcoming festive special ‘Twice Upon a Time’ as the First Doctor – originally portrayed by William Hartnell – thinks ‘Doctor Who’ is in safe hands with Jodie because she has “all the emotional range you could want” in an actress.
He said: “She has all the emotional range you could want, and she’s going to be very funny as well. So she’s perfect for the Doctor, really.”
‘Twice Upon a Time’ will focus on the end of the First Doctor’s era and will feature the Twelfth Time Lord having to convince the original that he has to accept his regeneration.
The hour-long special will also be last appearance of Pearl Mackie as companion Bill Potts before Whittaker joins with her new TARDIS team; Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yasmin.

Prue Leith ‘felt suicidal’ after GBBO blunder

OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith “felt suicidal” after she accidentally let slip the winner of the ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The 77-year-old restaurateur prematurely announced that Sophie Faldo had become the new champion of the show – 12 hours before the episode had aired on television screens – because she was on holiday in Bhutan and had got confused over the time zone and, although she managed to delete the tweet 89 seconds later, her blunder played on her mind for days.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (22.11.17), she said: “I felt suicidal, awful. The thing that upset me the most was that this would take attention off the winner. And Sophie [Faldo] has worked for months and months for this moment. The column inches would be about my tweet and not her triumph. I emailed her and she said, ‘Don’t be silly’. Actually everybody was really nice about it. Celebrities would tweet me and say, ‘It’s exactly what I could have done’. But you have to be a real idiot to do that. We had kept it secret for eight years until I come along and screw up!”
Despite her embarrassing slip up, Prue thoroughly enjoyed her time on the baking show, which she judged alongside Paul Hollywood, because she can say what she wants and eat cake all day.
She explained: “It is the most enormous fun. What’s not to like? I don’t have to learn a script or write the links. I just have to eat cake! Partly it’s because the production company are lovely and the bakers are amazing. They are great bakers. It’s lovely.”
Prue – who took over from Mary Berry – has also been asked to judge on the show for the next series and announced the news on the morning of the series finale last month.
She said: “It’s the #GBBO final! Who will win? Thrilled to say Paul, Noel Sandi & I will all be back! Do you want to join us? (sic)”
