James Franco developing X-Men superhero

OHMYGOSSIP — James Franco confirmed he is “developing” a superhero character.
The 39-year-old actor is reportedly in negotiations to play Multiple Man in a new standalone movie being developed by producer Simon Kinberg – who is currently working on ‘X-Men: The Dark Phoenix’.
And now, in an with The Hollywood Reporter, Franco confirmed his superhero alter ego is in “early stages” but didn’t reveal who he is supposedly set to bring to the big screen.
Franco said: “I do have a superhero that I am developing. I don’t know how much I can say. But I will say I am producing and performing in it. It’s early stages. I think probably what I can say is, like anything, there’s a need to develop more.”
The film will reportedly be penned by ‘Wonder Woman’ scribe Allan Heinberg and will be produced by Kinberg under his Genre Films label and Franco’s Ramona Films.
Franco also said he loves what Kinberg, Fox and ‘X-Men’ have done with films such as ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Logan’ and hints his superhero movie will follow the success of the R-rated movies.
He said: “Our bottom line MO is, how can we push this into new ground? A little bit, but still make it entertaining? But what I love about what Simon Kinberg and Fox and the ‘X-Men’ people have done with ‘Deadpool and ‘Logan’ – it took a while to get there, maybe 10 years – but they are going to go hard R.
“And we’re going to take this superhero thing and really just push it into a new genre. So we’re working with Simon Kinberg on an ‘X-Men’ property.”
Multiple Man, also called James Madrox, was created by writer Len Wein and first appeared in ‘Giant -Size Fantastic Four #4’ in 1975.
The hero has the ability to create instant duplicates of himself and was mainly a minor or supporting character until he appeared in the 1987 mini comic book series ‘Fallen Angels’, which was team of teenage superheroes.
Multiple Man underwent greater development under writer Peter David through the monthly series ‘X-Factor’ in the 1990s and in the 2000s.

James Cameron casts doubt on future of Avatar franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron admits there’s no guarantees that the fourth and fifth ‘Avatar’ movies will ever come to fruition.
The Academy Award-winning director helmed the hugely successful original movie in 2009, but ahead of the release of the second sci-fi film in 2020, James has admitted that the success of the upcoming films will determine whether the scheduled release of the fourth and fifth movies will reach cinema screens.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “Let’s face it, if ‘Avatar 2’ and ‘3’ don’t make enough money, there’s not going to be a ‘4’ and ‘5’.
“They’re fully encapsulated stories in and of themselves. It builds across the five films to a greater kind of meta narrative, but they’re fully formed films in their own right, unlike, say, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, where you really just had to sort of go, ‘Oh, s**t, all right, well I guess I better come back next year.’ Even though that all worked and everybody did.”
Fans of the original movie have already waited almost a decade for the release of another ‘Avatar’ film.
But James recently revealed that his desire to use underwater motion-capture technology to make the new films has slowed the production process.
He explained: “It’s never been done before and it’s very tricky because our motion capture system, like most motion capture systems, is what they call optical base, meaning that it uses markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras.
“The problem with water is not the underwater part, but the interface between the air and the water, which forms a moving mirror. That moving mirror reflects all the dots and markers, and it creates a bunch of false markers.
“It’s a little bit like a fighter plane dumping a bunch of chaff to confuse the radar system of a missile. It creates thousands of false targets, so we’ve had to figure out how to get around that problem, which we did.”

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones to reunite on screen

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones look set to reunite on the big screen for epic adventure movie ‘The Aeronauts’.
Eddie won the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of renowned scientist Professor Stephen Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’, and Felicity earned a Best Actress nomination for starring opposite him as his wife in the 2014 biopic.
Now Variety reports the pair are in talks to star together in period action film ‘The Aeronauts’, which is based on the true story of balloon pilot Amelia Wren and scientist James Glaisher, who in 1862 set a world record for flying higher in a hot air balloon than anyone ever has since.
The pair set out on a field trip to explore the heavens and made groundbreaking new discoveries – only to find themselves battling against the forces of the atmosphere and fighting for survival.
The film will be helmed by young British director Tom Harper, whose previous work includes hit TV shows ‘Peaky Blinders’ and the BBC adaptation of ‘War & Peace’.
The script is being penned by Jack Thorne, who wrote the play for West End production ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, which was adapted from the J.K. Rowling story.
The Amazon Studios production is due to start shooting in London in spring 2018.
Away from their upcoming production, Eddie is due to appear in the next instalment of the ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’ Harry Potter spin-off movies, while Felicity appears as Jyn Erso in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.

Bruno Langley signs sex offenders’ register

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Langley will be on the sex offenders’ register for five years after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who was sacked from the soap last month after the shocking allegations came to light – has managed to swerve jail after he admitted to groping two women – one in her 30s and another in her 20s – at the music event Band on the Wall in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on September 30, but he has been handed a 12-month community order, ordered to sign the register and pay his two victims £250 in compensation each.
The community order subjects the 34-year-old actor to 40 days of rehabilitation activity and a 12-week electronically monitored curfew after he admitted to the judge that he had a problem with alcohol.
Judge Hadfield told the court that Bruno had expressed remorse for his actions and doubts he’ll work in showbiz again.
He told him: “I suspect it will be difficult for you to obtain employment in that industry again.”
Bruno has since said in a statement: “I sincerely apologise to the people involved and affected by my disgraceful behaviour on the evening of 30th September.
“I have absolutely no memory of what happened because of excessive alcohol consumption and it was for this reason that I behaved completely out of character. I take full responsibility for my actions that night.
“Since this incident I have been dealing with, and confronting some personal issues that I have never addressed, and I am also getting help for an alcohol problem, so that this does not ever happen again.”
Bruno pleaded guilty after the judge heard how he grabbed his first victim by her crotch – without her consent – after she collected her coat from the cloakroom at around 1am at the music festival.
The victim told police that she thought about hitting the actor after he groped her over her clothes but she was too “shocked and angry” to act on her emotions and, in turn, just asked Bruno whether he “did that on purpose?”, before reporting the incident to police.
Prosecutor Karen Saffman told the court that Bruno was “clearly intoxicated.”
The second victim told police that she too had been “forcefully touched” in an “intimate place” by the star “for a couple of seconds” before she managed to push him off.
Bruno’s defence solicitor Mr Hancock told the court that Bruno has no previous convictions and had been “of good character” before he admitted to the sex charges.
He described it as an “isolated incident” which was “alcohol-fuelled” and assured the judge that his client was not a “serial groper” and was “clearly a man who has health issues.”

Rebekah Vardy took crystals into I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebekah Vardy has taken her crystals into the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ jungle.
The 35-year-old WAG – the wife of footballer Jamie Vardy – is reportedly a “big fan” of the healing method and believes the seven stones she’s had set into her necklace will help her feel calm and keep the negative thoughts out of her mind while shes doing the show.
A source told The Sun Online: “Becky has been using crystals for about a year after a local crystal expert taught her all about them.
“She has said they definitely help her to feel more calm and relaxed.
“Becky is a big believer in their benefits for creating positive energy, which is definitely something that she needs to help her cope in the jungle with trials and missing her family.”
And the brunette beauty will certainly need the crystals as her husband – with whom she has 10-month-old son Finlay and two-year-old daughter Sofia – as been voting for her to do the gruesome trials because he wants to see how “fearless” she is.
He wrote on Twitter: “Bex’s face when she finds out that I voted for her 5 times on the app to do the eating trial.. Sorry babe just wanted everyone to see that you’re fearless & you proved me right. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Rebekah is planning to use the money she gets from the show to buy her a new pair of breasts – 10 years after she had her first boob job.
Speaking to her camp mate Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo in over the weekend, she said: “I’m going to get a new boob job done in January next year. A fresh set of tits for 2018, amazing.”
And she’s also considering going under the knife on her downstairs area, but she’d be willing to put that off for a while because she thinks her vagina is “OK at the minute.”

Saturday Night Takeaway will return

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec have confirmed there will be another series of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’.
Viewers were concerned that there wouldn’t be another instalment of the weekend family show for the foreseeable future after Ant McPartlin, 42, was admitted to rehab earlier this year for his addiction to prescription pills, but fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the comedy double act will be doing another batch of episodes next year.
The announcement was coyly made during last night’s (27.11.17) episode of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ when Dec Donnelly, 42, was ripping his friend.
Ant commented on the amount of different T-shirts this year’s camp mates have been wearing and proceeded to ask who was paying for them all.
To which Dec replied: “You! Has nobody told you?
“You’ve given up your fee for the next series of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’.”
Ant asked: “So I’m doing the whole next series of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ for free?”
Dec replied: “Don’t be daft. You’re getting one of these T-shirts with Kez’s face on.”
Ant spent two months in rehab over the summer after he agreed to seek help after being rushed to hospital at 5am following an “insane” binge of painkillers tramadol and morphine, along with alcohol, while recovering from knee surgery in June.
He said after his treatment: “I was at the point where anything — prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs — I would take. And take them with alcohol, which is ridiculous. The doctors told me, ‘You could have killed yourself’. ”
As well as the painkillers, the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star was prescribed sleeping pills to help him through the nights following surgery this year, but was also drinking heavily.
While Ant – who began taking prescription drugs after damaging his knee in 2014 and had a botched operation that left him in agony the following year – knows his wealth made it easier to get treatment, it also made it easier for him to get his hands on the strong painkillers as he could afford to visit multiple doctors for more prescriptions.

Coronation Street’s Carla Connor will be Kate’s ‘confidant’

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Carla Connor will be a “confidant” for her half-sister Kate Connor.
The waitress – played by Faye Brookes – is currently caught up in a love triangle after she became embroiled in a secret relationship with her best friend Rana Nazir (Bhavna Limbachia) – even though she’s married to Zeedan Nazir (Qasim Akhtar) – but, despite the heartbreaking festive season, she has her relative to lean on following her return.
Speaking to the RadioTimes.com, Faye said: “Carla will be a confidant for Kate, 100 per cent. After all the drama that’s happened to Carla, I don’t think that she is going to judge! Out of everyone, she’s the one Kate is going to turn to.”
Alison reprised her role as Carla Connor earlier this month following 18 months away from the soap but, despite the time that has passed, she fitted back in on set well.
Faye explained: “Alison, Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) and I are sharing a dressing room at the moment, and it is havoc! We have a really good relationship on and off screen and it’s nice to have Ali back. She said it has been so easy to return.”
The soap’s executive producer Kate Oates decided to bring Carla back at the beginning of the year but she’s decided to go down a different route with her this time.
She said previously: “Ever since I got here, it’s been rumoured that Carla’s coming back. But it was never true. Even the latest indications of it. Ali has only just signed her contract and she’ll be back around Christmas. It’s time to break new ground with Carla. I didn’t want to put her on that familiar cycle of self-destruction, recovery, followed by more self-destruction … What we’ll have instead are these two strong Connor women – Carla and Michelle – on opposing sides and in conflict for a change. It’ll be a refreshing dynamic for us to see.”

Joe McFadden wants to be killed off in Holby City

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe McFadden wants to be killed off in ‘Holby City’.
The 42-year-old actor has made no secret of the fact that he’d like to leave the medical drama in the future after taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and has admitted he’d love to bow out in an explosive storyline that sees his alter-ego Raf Di Lucca gone for good.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “‘Holby City’ has been brilliant. They gave me the time off to do Strictly but sadly everything comes to an end.
“I’ve not got a solid leaving date, I just think that having done this show, there’s other stuff out there and doing live entertainment, it’s where my heart is.
“I love doing theatre, I love musicals, and the longer you leave it the harder it gets. It’s been four years without doing any stage work and I don’t want to leave it much longer.
“I’m going back for a little bit but I can’t say too much else. If and when it does happen it would be nice to have the big exit, as an actor no-one wants to leave in the back of a taxi even if it means being killed off. And obviously a big stunt would be brilliant!”
In the meantime, Joe is pouring his attention into the ballroom and latin show and has admitted it’s not just the performance side of things he’s enjoying – he’s also developed a love for weekly fake tan sessions.
He said previously: “I’m doing the fake tans every week — it’s all part of the experience. In fact, I went double dark the other day. It’s like a colour chart where you choose.”
However, there are some parts of the dancing show that Joe is still trying to get his head around – the restrictive costumes.
He explained: “Some of the things are quite surprising, like your shirt is attached to your pants which I found quite odd in the beginning.
“And being stitched into things . . .  they always stitch you in just in case buttons pop open — unless they are supposed to be open for things like the Paso Doble.”

Bruno Langley pleads guilty to two counts of sexual assault

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Langley has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who was sacked from the soap after the shocking allegations came to light last month – has admitted to molesting two women – one in her 30s and another in her 20s – at the music event Band on the Wall in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on October 1 as he appeared at the city’s Magistrates Court this morning (28.11.17).
The 34-year-old actor – who has also had a role in ‘Doctor Who’ – appeared in the doc to confirm his name, date of birth and his UK nationality before he entered his guilty pleas.
His pleas came after the judge heard how he grabbed his first victim by her crotch – without her consent – after she collected her coat from the cloakroom at around 1am.
The judge was debating whether to send the case to the crown court but they’ve since argued that it’s suitable for sentencing in the Magistrates’ court.
However, District Judge Mark Hadfield said he wanted to hear from the probation service before he decided whether to sentence Bruno immediately or send him to the crown court.
The hearing was “stood down” for the probation service to speak to Bruno.
The case is due to resume shortly.

Gemma Collins won’t pay on date

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins would never pay on a date.
The 37-year-old reality star is looking for love on ‘Celebs Go Dating’ and she’s got very strong ideas on what she’s looking for in a guy, and not only will the lucky man have to pick up their bill, if he’s not wearing good shoes, Gemma won’t even be sitting down with him.
She said: “If anyone dares to make me pay on a date, I’ll just get up and walk away…
“The biggest turn off for me is if they haven’t got the right shoes. I can’t even talk to them.
“At the end of the day, I can tell someone by the shoes. I know it sounds bad but I can.”
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star admitted she’s previously made a quick, and sneaky, exit from a date because her suitor had bad breath.
She said: “I went on a date with someone and he had bad breath so I pretended to go to the toilet and went out the exit door.”
While Gemma is trying to “stay away” from “gangster types” these days, she doesn’t want a guy who would “bore” her so she isn’t playing too safe.
She told OK! magazine: “I’m trying to stay away from that type these days. but ultimately I’ve got to be happy as well.
“There’s no point going out with a librarian if it’s going to bore me. I’m just looking for someone with respect, good morals, good values and who’s going to love me.”
But the outspoken star isn’t afraid to let a guy know if she likes them.
She said: “I’m always up for a bit of mischief but I’m not going to sell myself short. This candy doesn’t come for free.
“If I like someone then I soften a bit. I’m more sweeter. I’m not like vinegar. If I don’t like someone then I’m just vinegar.”

India Willougby signs up for Celebrity Big Brother 2018

OHMYGOSSIP — Newsreader India Willoughby has reportedly signed up to next year’s series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 51-year-old newsreader – who was previously known as Jonathan Willoughby before she transitioned into a female – has been approached by bosses of the reality TV show as they’re desperate to persuade her to take part in the forthcoming all-female series in January 2018.
A source told The Sun Online: “India is in talks to sign up for the show- they’d love to land her.
“She’s outspoken would be amazing television.”
Producers’ determination to snap her up for the programme comes less than a year after she made television history when she became the nation’s first transgender presenter to host an all-female UK talk show after doing ‘Loose Women’.
Host Ruth Langsford told India in her opening speech: “As far as we know, we are the first all-female talk show to have a transgender presenter and we’re very proud of that and we thank you very much for coming on and doing that for us.” Channel 5 are keen to bag some of the biggest names in showbiz – albeit girls only – for the special instalment in order to mark 100 years since women won the right to vote.
An insider said previously: “Channel 5 wants to make a real splash as part of their women’s vote celebrations.
“They are keen to cast opinionated women like Germaine Greer over no-mark reality TV girls who look good but have little to say or bring to the conversation. Bosses are expecting cat fights galore, plenty of tension and clashing personalities.”
The twist comes after production company Endemol vowed to refresh the format of the show this year in order to beat its competitor ‘Love Island’ in the ratings war.
Endemol’s Peter Salmon said: “‘Big Brother’ has got to last. You have to roll your sleeves up and renew it for a different generation. It is having a tougher ¬competitive time in the UK but it’s huge around the world. ‘Love Island’ has been sensational. If ‘Big Brother’ is not on top form, we have to keep changing it.”

Holly Willoughby to fall pregnant next year?

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby is convinced she’s going to fall pregnant while presenting ‘Dancing on Ice’ next year.
The ‘This Morning’ host has agreed to front the skating reboot alongside Phillip Schofield in January, but she’s “worried” she’s going to end up pregnant with her fourth child if history repeats itself because she carried two of her babies – Harry, eight, and Belle, six – while hosting the show in 2009 and 2011.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Jayne Torvill – who has worked on the show alongside Holly – quipped: “Holly told me she’s a bit worried because every time she does ‘Dancing On Ice’ she gets pregnant. She’s had all three of her children while hosting the show.”
Holly’s third child Chester, now three, was born in 2014 – three years after she left the show in 2011.
Although the 36-year-old television star is concerned that she’ll fall pregnant, she’s made no secret of the fact that she’d love to expand her family with her husband Dan Baldwin in the future.
She said recently: “They’re real people with personalities, and when we’re all sitting about the table, I sometimes find myself thinking, ‘Why wouldn’t you want more of this Holly?'”
However, it’s something that she’s in two minds about at the moment because the couple already have their hands full with the three youngster – even though she loves being pregnant and giving birth.
She added when asked if she’d have another baby: “I don’t think so. I mean, I really don’t think so.
“But it’s like the wedding dress thing – you just don’t want that stage of your life to be over. I loved being pregnant. I loved giving birth. I would give birth again tomorrow as it’s just the most amazing, empowering, life-changing thing.”

Ferne McCann admits to crying every day

OHMYGOSSIP — Ferne McCann has cried “every day” since her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins’ arrest for an acid attack.
The 27-year-old reality star has opened up about her heartbreak in the trailer for her new show, ‘Ferne McCann: First Time Mum’, in which she speaks about the painful aftermath of Collins’ arrest earlier this year.
Ferne – who gave birth to their daughter, Sunday, four weeks ago – shares: “Being pregnant has been the most fulfilling thing ever but you do want to share this with the person you created this life.
“There’s not a day that’s gone by where I haven’t cried. I don’t think you realise how much strength you’ve actually got.”
Last week, Collins was convicted of five counts of grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as nine counts of actual bodily harm for carrying the acid attack in a nightclub.
He is due to be sentenced on December 19.
Meanwhile, Ferne recently confessed she named her baby after a skin cleanser.
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star revealed she had come up with her name very early in her pregnancy.
She said: “I decided Sunday would be my girl’s name really early on in my pregnancy.
“It came to me after my make-up artist recommended a cleanser to me by a brand called Sunday Riley. I thought it had a really nice ring to it and the more I thought about it, the more I loved it.
“I wanted something unique but not too weird. I know that not everyone is going to love it but I’ve had a great response from people so far.”

Dennis Wise and Jamie Lomas win I’m A Celeb trial

OHMYGOSSIP — Dennis Wise and Jamie Lomas raced to victory during the Battle of the Sexes trial on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 50-year-old former football star and the ‘Hollyoaks’ actor battled it out against Shappi Khorsandi and Rebekah Vardy in a race across the Australian bush during Monday’s (27.11.17) episode of the ITV reality show, and despite it being a close call, it was the boys who won a hearty feast for their fellow male camp mates.
Dennis and Jamie had been awarded a five minute head start after the remaining boys – Stanley Johnson, Ian Lee, and Amir Khan – had won Sunday’s (26.11.17) live trial against the rest of the girls, Jennie McAlpine, Georgia Toffolo, Vanessa White, and Kezia Dugdale.
The race saw each group take on challenges based on the four elements, with the pairs in the race first tasked with starting a fire to light lanterns.
The five minute head start served the boys well as they lit their kindling in no time at all, whilst Shappi and Becky were able to make up precious time as they got to work lighting their own fire.
In the second part of the trial, each team took on the air element, which consisted of abseiling down a rock face, picking up a flag of their colour – blue for boys and yellow for girls – along the way.
Again it was the boys who made short work of the task, although the girls caught up and weren’t far behind.
Meanwhile, the earth element trial took place back in camp, with the remaining camp mates tasked with counting two piles of coloured stones in order to unlock a box containing a flag.
It was the girls who stormed to victory after having counted their stones in no time at all, which won Shappi and Becky a chance for victory in the final round of their challenge.
The water element trial saw the two pairs out in the bush pick up logs with keys attached, with the goal being to swim to a fallen tree where they’d find a locked box which one of their keys would open.
The girls had the advantage thanks to their team winning the trial back at camp, meaning they only had five keys to choose from, whilst the boys had 10.
But luck was with the boys, as the first key Jamie tried was the right one, and they were able to sail to victory whilst the girls trailed behind.
Returning to camp, the boys tucked into a feast of lamb shank, roast chicken, potatoes, corn, salad and fruit with an option of an alcoholic or fruit juice drink, whilst the girls were sadly left with rice and beans.
‘I’m A Celeb…’ airs daily at 9pm on ITV.

Kevin Feige confirms 20 more Marvel films

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige has confirmed there will be 20 more films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 44-year-old filmmaker and Marvel Studios boss is preparing for two of the biggest movie mash-ups of all time – ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and the currently untitled ‘Avengers 4’ – but he has said anything after the fourth movie will be “completely different”.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Feige said: “Marvel is 22 movies in and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before – intentionally.
“‘Avengers 4’ will bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale.
“There will be two distinct periods. Everything before ‘Avengers 4’ and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting. Everything after.”
‘Avengers 4’ will be the last outing for Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) as their contracts are ending.
However, it has been known for some time that the franchise will continue with the likes of newcomers Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Brie Larson (Captain Marvel).
Larson is set to make her debut as Captain Marvel in the next instalment of the ‘Avengers’ franchise and is already working on her standalone movie.
However, Feige admitted he wishes Marvel Studios could have been the first to make a female-centred movie after the success of rival superhero studio DC Extended Universe ‘Wonder Woman’.
He said: “Yeah, I think it’s always fun to be first with most things. Everything’s going to work out. ‘Captain Marvel’ is a very different type of movie.”
Although the original superheroes are set to leave the MCU, Johansson said in the same interview it is a “bittersweet feeling” but she is excited for the new generation.
She said: “I feel a lot of joy for the next generation. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but a positive one.”

Kate Winslet demanded to do all the water work in Avatar sequels

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron has revealed Kate Winslet demanded doing all “her own water work” in ‘Avatar 2’.
The 42-year-old actress first collaborated with director Cameron on the 1997 multi-Oscar winning disaster movie ‘Titanic’, and in October, Winslet was revealed to be joining the highly-anticipated ‘Avatar’ sequels as a character called Ronal.
And Cameron has spilled that Winslet has already done a “couple of days of rehearsals” and confirmed she will be playing one of the Sea People in his sci-fi universe.
In an interview with Variety, Cameron said: “She does, and she’s very excited about it. She blazed through for a couple of days of rehearsals and saw the world that we had created, and how we do the work, and she’s very excited. She plays a character who’s part of the Sea People, the reef people. The one thing she did do is demand that she do all her own water work. I said, ‘Alright, that’s fine, we’ll have to teach you how to free dive.’
“The other actors are up to three- and four-minute breath holds. We’ve already been doing underwater capture.
“We did a scene last week with six teenagers, well, actually five teenagers and one seven-year-old underwater holding their breath for a couple minutes and acting, actually doing a dialogue scene under water because they speak kind of a sign language.”
Winslet will be working alongside a host of returning cast members, such as Zoe Saldana, 39, Sam Worthington, 41, and Sigourney Weaver, 68.
Cliff Curtis will also star in the movie as Tonowari, the leader of the Metkayina, the reef people clan, in the Cameron-directed movies – all of which are poised to take place under water.
Cameron revealed, the first movie will be released in 2020, followed by the other three in 20121, 2024 and 2025.
The first ‘Avatar’ film, released in 2009, still remains the highest grossing movie at the worldwide box office, raking in as much as $2.79 billion.
