David Bradley close to tears when filming Doctor Who Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bradley has revealed that he and Peter Capaldi were close to tears when they filmed their final scene together for the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special.
The 75-year-old actor portrays the First Doctor opposite Capaldi, 59, as the Twelfth Doctor in the festive episode ‘Twice Upon a Time’, which sees both incarnations of the Time Lord trying to stop their regeneration into their next bodies.
The last words the pair speak to each other take place on a war-torn battlefield and Bradley admits it was emotional that he and Capaldi almost ruined the take by crying.
Speaking at Q&A and screening held at the Science Museum in London on Wednesday night (13.12.17), he said: “When Peter and I were stood in that muddy field, we had a bit of dialogue and we knew something was going to happen but we didn’t really rehearse it with everyone else. We were stood there and then suddenly all these guys stood up around us. We were so close to blubbing and ruining the take, because it was just so totally unexpected and beautiful.”
The First Doctor was played by the late William Hartnell in the 1960s.
Bradley was chosen to bring the original TARDIS owner back to life after portraying Hartnell in the biographical TV film ‘An Adventure in Space and Time’, which was written by Mark Gatiss and aired in 2013 and told the story of how the BBC sci-fi series was created.
The ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ star thought that would be his last foray into ‘Doctor Who’ after he had a guest role in 2012 adventure ‘Dinosaurs on a Spaceship’ – in which he starred as villain Solomon opposite Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith in an episode written by incoming showrunner Chris Chibnall – so he was delighted to get the call from Steven Moffat asking him to play the Doctor.
He said: “I thought having played William Hartnell as opposed to Doctor Who, thanks to Mark Gatiss, I thought that was going to be my ‘Doctor Who’ experience. I must say I was just so overwhelmed watching this tonight, it was just absolutely fantastic and I thought, ‘I’m in this!’ ”
‘Twice Upon A Time’ will mark the final episode made by Moffat and starring Capaldi before Chibnall takes control of the show and Jodie Whittaker becomes the first woman to take over the TARDIS as the Thirteenth Doctor.
The special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day (25.12.17) at 17:30.

Jake Wood: Max Branning can be redeemed

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Wood thinks Max Branning can be redeemed after his bad acts.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor believes his character can be saved as he says Max is just acting “out of a very genuine feeling of being done wrong” when he was framed for the murder of Lucy Beale and had to spend time in jail.
Jake said: “From Max’s point of view, I always kind of try and see the good side of Max, looking into the reasons why he’s doing that stuff. He felt very wronged by the community that he was left to rot for years in jail and he was innocent. I think he thought that was his way forward, that he would get revenge on everyone so that would give him an income …
“That was always the debate, wasn’t it, if Max can be redeemed. I’ve always felt that he can be because I’ve always felt that what he’s done has been out of a very genuine feeling of being done wrong but obviously, the things that he’ve done are not the best. Next week, he attempts to kill Ian Beale. It was great working with Adam.”
And the 45-year-old actor has teased that the Christmas Day episodes are the “best” he’s ever read in over a decade.
Asked how far Max will go with his revenge on ITV’s This Morning, he added: “We’ll have to wait and see but as we’ve seen, Max is very isolated. I think the stuff that is coming up next week is great. They’re just incredible episodes, we’ve got John Yorke back along with Olly Kent and also the scriptwriter Simon Ashdown, who was instrumental in creating The Brannings. The next couple weeks is crazy … I think this is the best … the two episodes that go out on Christmas Day and the best I’ve ever read on the show in 12 years. If we’ve done them justice, they’ll be amazing.”

Sir Bruce Forsyth to be honoured with special variety show

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Bruce Forsyth’s life will be remembered with a very special variety show.
The BBC have announced plans to film a tribute to the late television presenter – who passed away in August at the age of 89 – at the London Palladium, the place which helped propel Sir Bruce to stardom.
It will be filmed on Wednesday 21 February 2018, just a day before what would of been Bruce’s 90th birthday.
There will be performances of Bruce’s favourite songs as well as dance performances to remember the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host. There will be onstage tributes as Bruce’s friends share fond memories of the late entertainer. Dave Arch and his famous ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ band and vocalists will be onstage, too, accompanying the performances.
The one-hour long show will be broadcasted on BBC One at a later date.
Charlotte Moore, Director of Content, said: “I couldn’t think of a more fitting tribute to our dear friend Bruce than this celebration at the Palladium – a theatre he so loved. Bruce was such a favourite with the BBC One audience who I know will savour this hour of entertainment, music and commemoration of a true showbiz legend.”
Bruce Forsyth was previously honoured with a special “heartfelt” dance tribute on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, which he hosted for a number of years.
Louise Rainbow, the show’s executive producer, said at the time: “The thoughts of everyone here are still very much with Sir Bruce’s family. Of course, we will be paying tribute to Sir Bruce at our launch show and this will include a heartfelt performance from our Strictly professional dancers. We all want to celebrate him and all that he loved about the show. Sir Bruce was, and will always be, a huge part of ‘Strictly Come Dancing.'”

Georgia Toffolo’s I’m A Celebrity challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Toffolo wanted to go on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ to “challenge” herself.
The ‘Made In Chelsea’ star – who was named Queen of the Jungle after triumphing on the ITV show – saw her trip to the Australian bush a bit like a gap year that she had missed out on.
She said: “Because of how I grew up and on ‘Made In Chelsea’, I never had any challenge. My friends went on gap years and I just stayed in London.
“So when the opportunity arose, I was like, ‘Go on, do it! See if you can prove to yourself that you can do it.’ I never thought I’d do the things that I did.”
And whilst the 23-year-old television personality admits the Bushtucker trials were awful, she soon became sort of used to them.
She added: “The first one [Bushtucker Trial], I don’t know how I got through it. I was sweating so bad and I was traumatised. But by the end, I know the green ants are hideous, I know that I can do the snakes now. It’s shocking but you sort of do [get used to it].”
No one is more shocked about her win than Toff herself, who admitted she didn’t think anyone would even like her.
She explained: “Of course, I’ve been on ‘Made In Chelsea’ but this is just a different level. When I went through arrivals, the kindness of people to come to the airport just to say hello to me …
“I can’t believe it because I really thought no one was going to like me in there. And seeing that, I didn’t know what I had to worry about. It’s quite a lot to take in.”
Toff has found it “overwhelming” now she is back on home turf as she said it got quite “institutional” in camp.
Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, she shared: “It’s really overwhelming because it almost turned a bit institutional in there. As it went on, there was less and less of us and you don’t really engage with anyone apart from your campmates. I normally am so talkative but when it came to it, I didn’t have anything to say.”

Alexandra Burke ‘breaks down’ over Strictly fake claims

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandra Burke has had days when she has “broken down” over ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fake claims on social media.
The ‘Broken Heels’ hitmaker admits it has been tough reading such negativity as she competes on the BBC latin and ballroom show but she just tries to keep positive, knowing her professional partner Gorka Marquez knows the truth.
She said: “My mum wanted me on the show, so this is her dream as well as mine … I can’t help reading the negative comments on social media about me, and it can upset me, I’m only human. There have been days when I’ve broken down.
“I’ve been on stage since the age of five and always wanted this career. I feel so lucky to have it, but there are downsides. I’ve been taught to have a thick skin and try to control my feelings. It’s just a shame some people can’t see how hard I’m working – there’s nothing fake about that. Gorka and I know what the truth is.”
And Alexandra has gushed about how amazing Gorka is and praised their “great connection”.
She added: “Gorka’s just been such a fantastic person to lean on during this time. We’ve got such a great connection. We share the star sign Virgo, so we’re perfectionists who love to work really hard and know when it’s time to chill. We want to create something that’s unforgettable to us personally. I know we’ll be friends for life.”
Alexandra has been working on her fitness in the recent years as her mother Melissa Bell’s tragic passing has taught her not to take any day for granted.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Mum’s illness means I don’t take a day for granted. A couple of years ago I’d put on a few pounds. It was happy ‘love weight’. I was in a good relationship and a settled place. Since then, I decided it was time to take health more seriously, as my mother suffered from diabetes. I dropped around three dress sizes by going to the gym six times a week and eating more healthily. I’ve dropped another size because 10 hours training a day is so intense. I have a strong faith and meditate. I aim to be positive, enjoy life, give 100% and be thankful for every day.”

Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom Parker snub Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom Parker have snubbed ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The posh couple – who are known for hitting the bottle on the Channel 4 show – have been offered mega money to appear on the reality TV show next year but they’ve turned it down because they can’t be dealing with the stress of it.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Dom said: “People asked if we would do ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ and our answer was: ‘No, not a chance!’ ”
The pair – who have two children – are certainly used to being on camera as they shot to fame in 2013 when their guest house featured on Channel 4’s ‘Four in a Bed’.
But they gained a legion of fans when they joined ‘Gogglebox’ because viewers were obsessed with their boozing, accents and outspoken opinions.
Dom was then asked to take part in ‘The Jump’, which has since been taken off air due to extent of injuries sustained by celebrities, two years ago, but he suffered suspected concussion after he crashed during training on the slopes.
Steph added: “We’ve had a blast on these shows but we don’t enjoy the stress and paranoia. I don’t think we’ll do it again.”
Meanwhile, although Dom and Steph have ruled out ‘CBB’, bosses are now eyeing up their former co-star Sandra Martin as they’re hoping she’ll have similar success as her friend Sandi Bogle – who did the show last summer – on the programme.
A source said recently: “Sandra is heading into the house – she’s heard a lot about it from Sandi and after Sandi’s success on the show, she wants to try it out herself. She’s outgoing, not afraid to speak her mind and wants to grow her profile, so she’ll be great in the house. Sandi told her it’s one of the best things she’s ever done.”
Not much is known about the new series of ‘CBB’ but it’ll hit screens on January 2, 2018, and will see an all-female cast head into the iconic house in commemoration of 100 years since women won the right to vote.

Steven Moffat crowns Doctor Who ‘greatest show ever made’

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Moffat thinks ‘Doctor Who’ is the “greatest show ever made.”
The 56-year-old writer will step down as the show runner – a position he’s held for seven years – in just under two weeks’ time when his Doctor – Peter Capaldi – makes his final appearance as the time-travelling alien in the festive special ‘Twice Upon A Time.’
But, although it’s an end of an era for him, he’s pleased he was part of a show that has inspired people to chase after their dreams and become anything they set their minds to.
Speaking during a Q&A after a preview screening of the Christmas special, which will air on December 25, Moffat said: “‘Doctor Who’ by always being different can never be perfect. Count the hearts that beat a little faster because of ‘Doctor Who’.
“People change their view of the world and what they’re capable of because of a silly show about a man who travels around in time and space in a police box.
“So never mind the reviews, never mind the ratings, never mind any of that. Count the scientists, the musicians, the scholars, the writers, the directors, the actors – who became what they are because of this show.”
The special will no doubt draw some tears as not only is Moffat leaving, it will be the last time Peter – who has played the Time Lord for four years – steps out of the TARDIS as he’ll hand the keys over to Jodie Whittaker, who will play the Doctor from next year, but the BBC’s director-general Lord Tony Hall is convinced the episode will be “bittersweet”.
He explained: “It was 14 years ago this week that Steven Moffat was asked to write his first episode. And he has gone on to write over 40 more. And of course, you may not know this, but he turned down Hollywood to take the reigns as showrunner in Cardiff.
“He’s continued to surprise and delight us. He’s a master craftsman, ingenious, adventurous and great fun and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
“Quite magical and also profound.”
‘Twice Upon A Time’ airs on Christmas Day at 5.30pm.

Debbie McGee talks to late husband before Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie McGee talks to her late husband Paul Daniels before she performs on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 59-year-old TV assistant was left devastated last year when her spouse sadly died from a brain tumour at the age of 77, but she believes she’s done so well on the ballroom and latin series because she feels his presence before every live show and she asks him to give her some “confidence.”
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I feel he is with me. When I walk down that studio floor, there is always a moment I think of him. He had so much confidence. I kind of say, ‘Come on, darling, give me some of your confidence’. And it takes away my nerves.”
However, although she’s convinced the legendary magician would have loved to watch her perform every week, she thinks he would have pushed her to be better every single week.
She said: “He would love it. He would absolutely love it. He would always have wanted me to do better than I was doing. I could imagine, if Paul was alive and watching me every week, he would give me notes. There is no doubt about that – he would find something”
Debbie has been one of the front runners throughout the entire competition but she has admitted she’s starting to struggle with training now because she’s juggling rehearsals with her panto preparation.
She explained: “I’ve only got Christmas Day off. It’s quite normal in panto. I had the same last year. Christmas Day will be with the family in Surrey at some point or other, with my younger sister Donna and her family and my mum and possibly my brother and his family.”

Gemma Atkinson forgets Strictly moves without eye contact

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson forgets her routine if she doesn’t gaze into her professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec’s eyes at the beginning of every dance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 33-year-old actress has managed to make it through this weekend’s final on the ballroom and latin show but she’s convinced she wouldn’t have got this far in the competition if they hadn’t started every routine with strong eye contact because she finds herself getting flustered and forgetting the moves if she can’t see the hunk.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, she said: “We always start off facing each other. If I don’t, I get nervous and I forget the routine. Every dance but one we have been facing each other. If I look just at him, I can pretend it’s just us and I can do it.”
Aljaz – who is married to fellow pro Janette Manrara – added: “There was only one dance when we didn’t [begin facing each other] and she forgot the beginning.”
The pair have decided to start all three of their routines – including the show dance – in the final in the same way because they are determined to lift the glitterball trophy.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress explained: “In the show dance [for the final], we are not facing each other, I’m on my own but he’s in my eyeline.”
And, although she’s really nervous for the final, the blonde beauty is determined to make the most of it because it’ll be the last time she dances with Aljaz.
Gemma – who has been romantically linked to fellow professional Gorka Marquez throughout the competition – said: “I’m so grateful that we’re in the final, if someone said 12 weeks ago, I would have laughed. We have grafted so hard in the dances, I love that we are still here. I’m incredibly nervous. The is going to be the last weekend I dance with Aljaz , so I want to make the most of it.”

Car Share will return next year

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay’s ‘Car Share’ will still return next year.
The 44-year-old comedian confirmed earlier this year that the hit comedy series – which also stars Sian Gibson – will make a brief comeback after series two ended on a frustrating cliffhanger, but fans were left wondering if those plans had been scrapped after he was forced to cancel his mammoth tour, which will kick off in 2018 and conclude in 2019, yesterday (13.12.17) due to “family circumstances.”
But the BBC has confirmed to The Sun Online that the show will return next year for one final episode and one unscripted special as planned.
Fans were over the moon when the funny man revealed that he was going to release one more episode – despite claiming he’d never bring ‘Car Share’ back.
He said: “Well it’s been a very hard secret to keep … We were getting constant abuse about it, people were very angry that the series ended in that way, but there is a season finale explaining what happened the next day after the big argument.”
Whilst Sian added: “I’m glad it’s out in the open.”
Peter admitted that he was sceptical about writing another episode because he didn’t know if he’d be able to keep the standard up and didn’t want to let people down.
He said in August: “It is lovely but I don’t know what to say. It is very flattering but I think if you have told a story you have told it, there is nothing else you can do.
“What people want and keeping that standard up is difficult so you don’t want people to say oh that went off. It is lovely that they would want it in theory, but you don’t want it to become contrived so you are better off just leaving things sometimes.”
Meanwhile, Peter was forced to cancel his 100 dates next year – his first tour in eight years – after something regarding his family unexpectedly cropped up.
Taking to his social networking sites, he wrote in a statement: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.
“My sincerest apologies. The decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand that my family must always come first. I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry.”
The statement went on to confirm that fans will be refunded for the Live Arena Tour – providing they contact their original point of purchase – as will those who want their money back for the Dance for Life show, but he did stress that it’s a charity event.
He last hit the road in 2010 when he toured ‘The Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour… Now On Tour’ – which broke the Guinness World Record for the biggest selling comedy tour of all time – and recently admitted he couldn’t wait to get back on stage.

Denise Welch quits pantomime

OHMYGOSSIP — Denise Welch has dropped out of her forthcoming pantomime performance.
The 59-year-old actress was supposed to be playing Mother Nature in Newcastle’s ‘Jack And The Beanstalk’ but she’s quit the role because the cast were reportedly not receiving their wages on time, the rehearsals were “chaotic” and the set hadn’t been finished.
A source told The Sun Online: “It was a total shambles backstage – the panto wasn’t ready to open when it was due to this Monday, so the first two days of shows were cancelled.
“Sets weren’t finished, a technical rehearsal set for last Friday couldn’t go ahead because the production was running so behind.
“Another rehearsal was a total disaster, and then cast weren’t being paid on time or at all. At one point, an Equity rep had to be called in to mediate.
“A few days into panto rehearsals, Denise and other cast started getting concerned as it wasn’t very professional at all because no-one seemed to know what they were doing. “Some of the crew had never even worked backstage before.”
It was initially claimed that the actress had been forced to leave the show because of health problems but, although she refused to disclose what had actually gone on between her and the production company, she seemingly poured cold water on the ill-health claims.
In a statement Denise said: “I am so terribly upset and hugely disappointed that I will no longer be appearing in the Times Square Pantomime in Newcastle.
“Those who know me and have supported me during my 40 year career will know how passionate I am about my job, Newcastle and it’s people. All I ever wanted was to star in a fabulous, spectacular pantomime that I have been proudly publicising since February. If there was anything I could do to change this highly regrettable situation I would.
“Legally, I can say no more but I write this with a heavy heart.”
Although Denise has decided to walk out, her co-star Adam Thomas is still performing.
Production company Nice Swan said: “I can confirm that we will be proceeding with the pantomime without Denise. There are no issues with set or production standards.
“Equity visited the Pantodrome earlier in the week at Denise’s request, to asses the safety of the building and the facilities provided and no issues were outlined from this. Performances will continue from today until the 30th December.”

Robbie Williams ‘shocked’ by Ant McPartlin’s drug addiction

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams was “shocked” when he found out his good friend Ant McPartlin had entered rehab for prescription drug addiction because he’s so “normal.”
The 43-year-old singer – who has had a well-documented battle with drug and alcohol addictions over the years – is pleased to welcome the presenter “into the fold” after he was forced to seek help for his problems earlier this year, but he has admitted he was flabbergasted when he heard the news because he never expected him or his partner Declan Donnelly to ever suffer with mental health issues.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Robbie said: “My reality is, you know, your mum’s your mum, your dad’s your dad and Ant & Dec are really normal. So it was a shock.
“And then when Ant came out with his problem it’s sort of like, well A I was worried about him, B that doesn’t make any sense because it shocks my reality and three great you can join my club now.
“At my 30th birthday they’d be drinking and I wasn’t and I just remember then thinking: ‘those are the most normal people in the world, they’re not going to have any problems at all with their mental health or with drink or with addiction.’
“And here’s Ant 11 years later and I’m glad to welcome him into the fold, I’m not glad that he went through it, I’m not glad that he’s suffered or he’s suffering.”
Ant, 42, returned to the public eye at the end of last month when he reprised his presenting gig alongside Dec on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
Robbie explained: “I’ve never seen him have so much energy. There’s lots of space in the jacket now and I’m really proud of him. I just see his energy and the glint in his eye and I know he’s doing really well. I’m really proud of Dec too because that’s a marriage and they’re both going through whatever that is.”

Jack Maynard signs up to dating app

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Maynard has signed up to a dating app.
The 23-year-old YouTuber has set up an account on Bumble – an online site that allows women to make the first move – in the hope of finding love after he hit the headlines earlier this month when he was booted off ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ when a series of offensive tweets he wrote when he was 16 resurfaced.
His profile has been verified by app bosses – confirming he’s not an imitator – and he describes himself in his bio as an “entertainer” and lists what school he went to.
He’s also uploaded a series of photographs – including one of him in a pair of gold-rimmed sunglasses – of himself and linked back to his Instagram account.
His attempt to find love online comes just hours after he hinted that he was trying to strike up a romance with Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo – who was crowned Queen of the Jungle last weekend – after they hit it off in the jungle before his sudden departure.
Speaking to Trending Live’s AJ Odudu and Jim Hill, the vlogger – the younger brother of Conor Maynard – said: “Me and Toff get on great. We’re a similar age and have a lot in common. We’re from the same area and stuff like that. Yeah, we had a very good relationship in the jungle and that’s it. Good Friends, good friends.”
And, although the ‘Made in Chelsea’ star is very busy following her jungle win, Jack has been messaging her on WhatsApp and spoke to her before she jetted home.
He explained: “Yeah, of course, I spoke to her earlier this morning. They’re all flying back now. So I’ve been speaking to them in a lovely WhatsApp group with all of us.
“I’ve been speaking to all of them separately as well. Everyone’s in it even Stanley [Johnson]. Amir [Khan] just has no idea who anyone is, Everything you say is just ‘Who’s this? Who said that?’ ”

Ashley Banjo knows he will get the giggles on ‘Dancing on Ice’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Banjo will laugh if any of the ‘Dancing On Ice’ contestants fall over.
The Diversity star will join choreographer Jason Gardner, as well as skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean on the judging panel of the revamped celebrity contest, and he has admitted he’s desperate to see the hopefuls slip and spoil their routines.
He said to OK! magazine: “I haven’t seen any of [the contestants] skate but I heard Kem [Cetinay] had a nasty fall.
“That’s what makes us love the show though – that really primal thing of waiting to see if they fall over. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.
“I’m the worst for [laughing if that happens]. I spend my life in a group of boys and if anyone falls over it’s comedic gold so I”ll probably laugh if someone falls over on the ice.”
When it comes to judging the hopefuls, Ashley is on the lookout for people who keep him entertained.
He said “I’ll be the honest one. It’s great if they can nail the technical aspects but what I’m looking for is if it can entertain and affect me.
“I’ll either be really easy to please or really hard to please, I’m not sure which.”
And Ashley also admitted he won’t be keeping quiet if he feels acid-tongued Jason is being unnecessarily harsh.
He said: “He doesn’t mince his words, which I really like, but I’m not a big fan of unnecessary criticism and sniping. I’m not an argumentative person but I’m not a pushover.”
The 29-year-old star’s own skating skills are a bit rusty, so he’s hoping to get out in the rink before the show starts.
He said: “I haven’t put on a pair of skates for a couple of years but I can skate.
“I’m looking round to whipping round a few rinks before we start.”

James White and Sarah Lynn make Apprentice final

OHMYGOSSIP — James White and Sarah Lynn have made in through to the final on ‘The Apprentice’.
The 35-year-old confectionery company owner and the 26-year-old hunk are in with the chance of nabbing Lord Sugar’s £250,000 and becoming his business partner after they sailed through to the last round of the competition in tonight’s (13.12.17) episode.
However, it wasn’t all smiles in the boardroom as Joanna Jarjue, Elizabeth McKenna and Michaela Wain fell at the final hurdle as they were given the boot by the magnate.
Joanna was the first to get the axe as the 70-year-old business genius didn’t feel he could join forces with her because she has “no knowledge of the market at all.”
He told her: “I can’t go into business with somebody who has no knowledge of the market at all. Honestly and sincerely, you are a very intelligent young lady, there’s no question of that. But at this moment in time Joanna, I have to say to you, that you will not be my business partner and regretfully – you’re fired!”
Elizabeth followed swiftly behind because Lord Sugar couldn’t see her florist shops expanding and becoming a “big business” – and that’s something he wants.
He told her: “Elizabeth, you’ve got three florist shops and you make a modest profit and the backbone of the economy of this country is made up of people like you.
“But you know I’m interested in big business and at this stage I can’t see the scaling up. So, it is with regret – you’re fired!”
He then had to send the three remaining candidates out so that he could speak further with his trusty aides Baroness Karren Brady and Claude Littner.
He said: “Sarah, you’ve got a business already, albeit that it’s not been exploited to the full I feel, and I struggle in understanding that. The sensitivity that I have with you Michaela is that our business could start going a little bit downhill and you might lose interest because you’ve got interest in other businesses – it’s human nature.”
“James, you haven’t been in business before on your own and I’ve got people either side of you that have, and you’ve got a very, very optimistic business plan. Your proposition is quite hard for me to envisage.
“But Michaela, this business has got to be 100 per cent with me and I don’t want you being de-focused somewhere else. Michaela – you’re fired!”

Rian Johnson felt like he was making Star Wars ‘indie movie’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ director Rian Johnson felt like he was making an “indie movie with lightsabers” at times.
The 43-year-old filmmaker has opened up about what it was like on the set of the latest instalment of the science fiction franchise and says he felt like he was “in a safe space”.
He said: “Other people’s film sets are like other people’s marriages. If you’re on the outside looking in and think you know what’s going on, you’re probably wrong. Speaking for myself, I wasn’t in any of those processes. I know the process I was in and I know my experience was the exact opposite of that characterisation. I was protected and felt like creatively I was in a safe space. There were times during the making of this movie where I’d say, ‘God, it feels like we’re making Looper or Brick even’. It would feel like we were making an indie movie, just with lightsabers.”
And Johnson was “absolutely terrified” when Mark Hamill – who plays Luke Skywalker – spoke out about how he disagreed with the way his character was portrayed in the new movie.
He told Wired magazine: “It was absolutely terrifying! It didn’t feel good. But it ended up being healthy because I had to put my ego aside and step back. I had to think, ‘OK, this character has been part of Mark’s identity in many complicated ways for the past 40 years.’
“The notion that some young asshole is going to come along, drop a script in his lap and say, ‘And now it’s this’ and he would say, ‘Yep, makes perfect sense to me, let’s do it!’ is kind of fanciful. It was a process.”
