Donald Glover: Star Wars Solo director change didn’t affect vision of movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Donald Glover says changing directors has not changed the “vision” of ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’.
Ron Howard took over the director’s chair from Phil Lord and Chris Miller – who left the prequel spin-off due to creative differences – but Donald says it hasn’t really affected him and the other actors as Ron didn’t want them to change what they were doing.
He explained at the TCAs in Los Angeles: “It didn’t really [change]. I think we were never faced with anything like that and he did a good job of coming in and didn’t want us to change what we were doing at all. He wanted us to be comfortable with our vision.”
Donald, 34, plays the young Lando Calrissian in the movie and revealed that ‘Star Wars’ fans are in for a treat as Howard has included a shot that has never been done before in the franchise.
He said: “I remember going on set one of the first times, he was like, ‘Yeah, I want to follow you onto the Millennium Falcon and do this thing.’ I was like, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen the outside go into the inside.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, no one’s ever done that shot.’ As a fan I was like yeah, I was really excited. I know there’s been a lot of talk in the press about this movie but for me anyway, it was a dream and also it looks really cool to me.”
And Donald, who created and starred in the series ‘Atlanta’, admitted it was nice not to be in charge for once.
He said: “This is the first time in a long time, I was just acting. Most of the time, I have to write or do music. This time I woke up and got to be somebody else and the stress wasn’t there for me.”

Kiosk Keith sacked from I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV bosses have sacked Kiosk Keith from ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 52 year old, whose real name is Raymond Grant, was dropped from the show – which is hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly and features celebrities surviving in the jungle – after allegedly turning up drunk and behaving “inappropriately” towards a young female member of staff.
A source told The Sun Online: “It wasn’t unusual for Keith to turn up to work drunk as he’s done it before but this incident has shocked everyone.
“He was drunk when he got on the bus in the morning. Then he behaved inappropriately towards a female member of the team who’s half his age.
“It happened in front of loads of people, the girl was so upset. As soon as she made a complaint Keith was sacked. It’s good riddance really.
“We nicknamed him Hollywood because of his overnight fame.
“Everyone thought he was alright at first but people quickly started to go off him. Now he’s gone for good.”
Raymond had been on the show since 2013 but ITV have confirmed that he will no longer appear.
A spokesperson said: “Ray is no longer under contract on the show. There are no plans for him to return this year.”

Kem Cetinay heartbroken over Amber Davies split

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Kem Cetinay is heartbroken over his split from Amber Davies.
Since the pair parted way Amber has been linked to Olly Murs and ‘TOWIE’s Pete Wicks and ‘Dancing On Ice’ contestant Kem is not happy.
Kem, 21, told The Sun: “I’m not going to lie when I say that it does really hurt. I am gutted. It does make me sad. It is hard to see.
“I am not going to sit here and say it is fine – I still have feelings for her – but at the end of the day, if she wants to date a celeb then I have to accept it. There’s nothing I can say.”
Kem and Amber were together for four months after winning the show together, but he admitted that a series of rows had led to their split.
He said: “Like in any ¬relationship, there were ¬triggers and things happened and I started to notice things. Of course we rowed and bickered. But it was a mutual decision and we sat down together and in the end we split to see how we feel.”
And he would consider a return to the show that made him famous.
Kem said: “I would go back on ‘Love Island’. I should apply under a different name — that would be good, wouldn’t it?”
Meanwhile, although they have decided to call time on their short-lived romance for now, Kem hasn’t ruled out the possibility of rekindling things with Amber, 21, in the future.
He recently said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future, but we’re having some space right now. Some people prefer having a toxic break up and cutting ties, but I’ll always care for Amber.”

Emma Willis thinks Olly Murs is ‘brilliant’ addition to The Voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Willis thinks Olly Murs is a “brilliant addition” to ‘The Voice’.
The ‘Dear Darlin’ hitmaker has become part of the panel alongside Jennifer Hudson, Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones on the singing competition following the departure of Gavin Rossdale last year and, although there have been mixed reviews regarding his casting, the show’s host is convinced he’s a perfect choice to mentor the contestants.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: “He’s a brilliant addition. He’s very much like Jennifer Hudson in that he knows what it’s like, he’s experience it so he can relate to every single person who steps up on that stage.
“He’s such a nice guy and he is so successful. In a time when it’s really hard to become successful in music if you’re just starting out, he’s someone who is still achieving it, so I think he will have really good knowledge and advice.”
The 41-year-old presenter is also thrilled that Will.i.am and Tom have decided to reclaim their red spinning chairs because she believes they make the show.
She explained: “Will is utterly bonkers and totally genius in equal measure, he’s so amazing at what he does and, for me, has made ‘The Voice’ what it is today. I also love Tom, he is just such a gentleman.”
And Emma thinks people keep tuning in year after year because the talents is so unpredictable but, at the same time, has such a “warm” feeling about it.
She said: “I love the talent that we get on this show because I don’t think it’s predictable. The show is so warm and it’s something your whole family can watch at the weekend an it celebrates the best of what we can find that year. What’s not to like about it? I love seeing people achieve what they want to achieve.”

Jessica Wright was ‘panicking’ about her body clock

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Wright was “panicking” about her body clock last year.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star has admitted she went through a phase in 2017 where she was worried about not being able to have a baby but, although she’d love nothing more than to have a child of her own, she’s trying not to “give a sh*t.”
Speaking to new! magazine, she said: “I want children eventually, but I’m not in a rush. At one point last year I was thinking about my body clock and I was really panicking but now I couldn’t give a sh*t. I’m absolutely loving mt life and I’ve just bought a house, so children aren’t on my agenda right now – which probably doesn’t make my mum happy.”
The brunette beauty – who has been single for over a year now – has also decided not to think too much about dating for the time being but she is enjoying a few dinners.
She explained: “It’s [dating] fun and I’m enjoying myself. It’s been a busy few months.”
However, Jessica does try to limit her alcohol intake when she goes on dates because she’s trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle following her drastic fitness kick last year.
She said: “I try to limit drinking to once a week but that’s rare! When offers for dates are there, I go and have a couple of drinks … I feel a lot more comfortable in my own skin. It’s been a big transition for me over the past year.”
Jessica has also decided to put more care into her diet – by ditching meat.
She explained: “I went to a plant-based retreat at the beginning of 2017 and now I only eat chicken and red meat on rare occasions. When I’m at home I try to limit sugar., dairy and carbs so when I go out to dinner I can indulge more.”

Shane Lynch and Wayne Sleep enter Celebrity Big Brother house

OHMYGOSSIP — Shane Lynch and Wayne Sleep have entered the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
The Boyzone star and the ballet dancer and actor are just two of the famous faces that joined the reality show on Friday night (05.01.18), which is celebrating it being a century since women won the right to vote in the United Kingdom.
John Barnes, Courtney Act (Shane Janek) and ‘Love Island’s Jonny Mitchell also made their way into the house, joined by Daniel O’Reilly also known as Dapper Laughs, ‘The Apprentice’ contestant Andrew Brady and American rapper Ginuwine.
It was a interesting turn of events for the girls, including Amanda Barrie, Jess Impiazzi and Malika Haqq, who have been in the house on their own since Tuesday (02.01.18).
Once all the men arrived into the house, it was revealed to them that they wouldn’t be able to have a say in who could be nominated to leave in the first eviction but would be able to be put up for eviction themselves.
Big Brother also announced that the female housemates had decided what roles to put the men in – be that doing the cooking, cleaning the toilet or keeping the house tidy.
Meanwhile, Wayne is most looking forward to seeing people he hasn’t met before and learning about their careers.
Speaking prior to his entry into the house, he said: “I am looking forward to Celebrity Big Brother most, because I will meet other thespians and people I might never have met in my life and it will be very interesting and share stories with about their careers.”
And Jonny promised he wouldn’t be creating any drama in the house, adding: “I am looking forward to the experience. I am looking forward to meeting new people, having a good time. I want to make friends. I’m not going in to rattle cages.”
The show didn’t get off to a great start for Shane Janek, whose skirt fell off when he tripped on the stairs, exposing his naked bottom to the live audience both in the studio and at home. And just when he thought the ordeal was over, his skirt fell off again when he was introducing himself to housemates.
‘Celebrity Big Brother’ continues on Saturday (06.01.18).

Lakeith Stanfield joins The Girl in the Spider’s Web

OHMYGOSSIP — Lakeith Stanfield has joined the cast of ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’.
The 26-year-old actor – who has just starred in ‘Get Out’ and ‘Death Note’ – has joined actress Claire Foy, who is set to portray skilled computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in the new movie alongside Sverrir Gudnason, Deadline reports.
Foy, 33, was confirmed to portray the character, which was previously played by Rooney Mara, in 2017 and the movie will be directed by Fede Alvarex, who hopes it will relaunch the ‘Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ franchise.
The 39-year-old filmmaker is “thrilled” to have Foy on board the project to take over the reins of the “iconic” protagonist.
He said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about Claire taking the reins of the iconic Lisbeth Salander.”
And the ‘Don’t Breathe’ creator hailed the star has an “incredible, rare talent”, who he hopes will inject a “new and exciting life” into Lisbeth.
He continued to praise the star, saying: “Claire is an incredible, rare talent who will inject a new and exciting life into Lisbeth. I can’t wait to bring this new story to a worldwide audience, with Claire Foy at its centre.”
The ‘The Crown’ star had been tipped to take on the role back in May, and four months later the casting was confirmed.
And filming for the production is set to start this month, which will see Foy jet off to Berlin and Stockholm to meet the release date on October 19, 2018.
The upcoming follow-up to the 2011 mystery movie, which will be based on novel of the same name by David Lagercrantz, will be backed by Sony pictures’ Millennium franchise.
‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’ will mark the first movie in the series to be adapted into an English-language film first, as the previous texts in the series have already been made into productions.

Christian Bale would never make a romantic comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Christian Bale cannot understand why anyone would cast him in a romantic comedy.
The 43-year-old actor has starred in a number of huge Hollywood successes, including ‘American Psycho’, ‘The Big Short’ and as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy – but there is one genre he would never want to do.
Bale said: “I was asked to do a romantic comedy recently and I thought they’d lost their minds.
“Cats have those insane half hours every evening. I think it must have been that for the production company.
“I don’t know why anyone would ever offer me a romantic comedy. I find ‘American Psycho’ very funny.”
‘American Psycho’ was based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel and saw Bale play axe-wielding Patrick Bateman.
And the actor admitted he was “laughing straight away” when he read the book.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “When I read the book, I was laughing straight away. I’d no idea people saw it as anything other than satire.”
Bale is known for his fluctuating waistline and while filming ‘The Machinist’, the actor was almost unrecognisable after losing 60lb for the role.
Despite this, Bale admitted it was an “amazing experience”.
He said: “It’s an amazing experience doing that. When you’re so skinny that you can hardly walk up a flight of stairs… you’re, like, this being of pure thought.
“It’s like you’ve abandoned your body. That’s the most Zen-like state I’ve ever been in my life. Two hours sleep, reading a book for 10 hours straight without stopping… unbelievable.
“You couldn’t rile me up. No rollercoaster of emotions. As soon as you start putting the food back in your stomach, the rollercoaster comes back.”

Jason Blum didn’t anticipate the Golden Globes outcry

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Blum didn’t anticipate the “out-cry” after ‘Get Out’ was nominated for a Golden Globe.
The 48-year-old filmmaker helmed the psychological thriller last year and the movie has received critical acclaim, being nominated for two Golden Globes and leading man Daniel Kaluuya being shortlisted for BAFTA’s EE Rising Star Award.
However, when the nominations for the Golden Globes were announced, there was a lot of backlash as the movie – which focuses on an interracial couple – was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Blum isn’t bothered about the category, but only that the film is being recognised.
Speaking to The I Paper, Blum explained: “We didn’t anticipate the out-cry the Globes category would cause.
“The only positive about it is that people feel a passionate connection to the movie.”
The film follows interracial couple Chris (Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), who have reached the meet-the-parents stage of dating.
She invites him for a weekend getaway with her parents and, at first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behaviour as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship.
But during the weekend, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.
The film was shot on a $4.5million budget and has grossed more than $255 million, but Blum would rather make smaller movies compared to big budget Hollywood blockbusters.
He said: “Rather than make expensive movies, I would make smaller movies that would be attractive to a studio who could release them to a larger audience.
“Give me $50 million and I’d still make 10 $4.5 million movies. I enjoy the restrictions; I believe you make better movies when everyone involved only gets paid if what you do makes money. It makes the conversations more honest.”

Martin McDonagh thinks Three Billboards isn’t a ‘dissection’ of America

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin McDonagh insists ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ isn’t a “dissection of modern-day American politics”.
The 47-year-old screenwriter and filmmaker helmed the new dark comedy movie, which stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell and Peter Dinklage, and tackles the kidnapping and murder of a teenage girl.
Although the movies centres on some unpleasant topics, McDonagh is “interested” to see the critical and popular reaction.
Speaking to The I Paper, McDonagh said: “I can only say it wasn’t written as a dissection of modern-day American politics.
“Do you say: ‘it wasn’t intended that way, so it’s nothing to do with me’? Not really.
“But do you jump on the bandwagon and say: ‘this is what I think of American society?’
“That’s not true either. I’m interested to see what the critical and popular reaction will be.”
The film follows the months after the murder of teenager Angela (Kathryn Newton) and there is still no culprit.
As a result, her mother Mildred Hayes (McDormand) makes a bold move by painting three signs leading into the town with controversial messages directed at police chief William Willoughby (Harrelson).
When Willoughby’s second-in-command Officer Jason Dixon (Rockwell) gets involved, the battle is only exacerbated.
Although the movie follows Mildred’s bold move against the police force, McDonagh said the character doesn’t start in a “place of hate”.
He explained: “Mildred doesn’t start off from a place of hate. A place of anger, sure, and sadness and rage, but it’s not hate.
“It’s almost clinically moving forward and reacting to anything that comes her way. That’s the germ of the story. It’s just a sadder story.
“To a degree there is no solution to the thing she needs a solution for. Being true to her struggle was the priority for me. Cynicism wasn’t a possible fall-back position.”

Stephen Fry steps down as BAFTA host

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Fry has stepped down from hosting the BAFTAs after 12 years.
The 60-year-old comedian-and-actor took over hosting responsibilities back in 2001 – the year Sir Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ won – and became a much-loved fixture of the UK awards ceremony, with his occasional risqué ribbing of celebrity guests.
However, he has now relinquished his role as host and is very much looking forward to watching the 2018 ceremony from the comfort of his own home without his “knees trembling”.
In a statement, Fry said: “Every one of the twelve BAFTA film award ceremonies that I had the privilege of hosting has a place in my memory. The mixture of glamour, glory, drama and – occasionally – embarrassment and hiccup holds a unique place in the British film calendar. Over the last two decades I have especially loved watching the emergence of new young film talent behind and in front of the camera. But after so long a time I felt it only right to stand down and let others take the BAFTAs on to new heights and greater glories. What fun it will be to watch BAFTA 2018 without my heart hammering, mouth drying and knees trembling.”
Between 2007 and 2011, Fry took a break from hosting duties and it was passed on to Jonathan Ross but it is unknown who is set to replace him this year.
Fry had to come of social media back in 2016 when he made a comments about costume designer Jenny Beavan when he joked she looked like a “bag lady”.
The new host will be revealed at the BAFTA press conference on Tuesday (16.01.18) and the ceremony will take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on February 18.

Christian Bale: My obsession makes me great

OHMYGOSSIP — Christian Bale believes it his obsession with his art form that makes him a great actor.
The 43-year-old British star is known for his total commitment to his roles and is prepared to do anything to bring his characters to life.
For his portrayal of insomniac Trevor Reznik in ‘The Machinist’ he lost 62 pounds reducing his body mass to just 120 pounds, whilst for his acclaimed performances as Batman in ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy he built up his muscle and physique to be the Gotham City saviour.
For his next role as former US Vice President Dick Cheney in Adam McKay’s upcoming biopic ‘Backseat’ he has gained a significant amount of weight.
Bale doesn’t worry about the long-term effects his body transformations have on him because he feels as though he’s “invincible” and he believes it is his total commitment to his work which allows him to give such memorable performances.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he said: “I keep thinking I’m invincible. I like obsession. I hope that it stays as healthy obsession.
“There’s just always been an image which struck me incredibly. Jimi Hendrix playing guitar, eyes closed, looking like he’s in ecstasy, creating beautiful music … and I don’t know if I imagined the blood or not but blood flowing from his fingers. I don’t care if it really happened or not but the point for me is that he completely ignores the pain because of the ecstasy. I enjoy that level of obsession and think that viewers deserve performers to take it to that level if necessary.”
‘Backseat’ will show Bale as Republican politician Cheney – who was the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009 – and it will follow his journey from when Cheney avoided military service in the Vietnam War, his rise to CEO of the multinational corporation Halliburton and finally becoming one of the most powerful and influential vice presidents to ever hold office.
His actions are considered to have led America into the Iraq War in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001.
As well as his impressive political career many will remember Cheney for accidentally shooting Texas attorney Harry Whittington during a hunting trip.
Sam Rockwell is to play former US President George W. Bush, Steve Carell is playing Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defence under President Bush whom Cheney served under, and Amy Adams as the Vice President’s wife Lynne Cheney.

Scott Cooper says Christian Bale is the finest actor working today

OHMYGOSSIP — Scott Cooper thinks Christian Bale is the “finest actor working today”.
The 47-year-old filmmaker helmed the new Western ‘Hostiles’ which starred the former Batman star and Rosamund Pike, and Cooper admitted he wrote the film with his close friend in mind.
In an interview with Deadline, Cooper said: “Christian is my closest pal and we spend a lot of time together when we aren’t working.
“I think Christian is the finest actor working today. He embodies characters in a way that is bone deep.
“So often, the type of performances that people think are award worthy, it falls under the idea that the most acting equals the best acting.
“I subscribe to the opposite. Christian is able to do something very few actors can; he psychologically embodies the character and the traits in a way that it takes what you’ve written on the page to a whole different, unexpected place. When you can do that with your closest friend, why not? I wrote ‘Out of the Furnace’ for Christian, and certainly wrote this with Christian in mind.
“He and I have very similar sensibilities; we become obsessed. Christian is not afraid to make unflinching or uncompromising movies, which we certainly did with ‘Out of the Furnace’ and now with this. I couldn’t ask for a better partner because Christian understands character, story and tone so well. When I’m casting. He and I speak about every part in the film. We talk about the cinematic grammar of the story, all the things that a lot of actors don’t want to concern themselves with. Christian does it because he’s interested and curious and like me, obsessed. My wife often says, are you going to work with anyone but Christian?”
‘Hostiles’ follows Army Captain Joseph Blocker who reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to their tribal land.
They soon encounter a young widow whose family was murdered and the travellers must band together to survive a dangerous landscape.

DeWanda Wise to star in Captain Marvel

OHMYGOSSIP — DeWanda Wise is the latest star to join the cast of ‘Captain Marvel’.
The ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ actress will co-star opposite Brie Larson in the female-led Marvel superhero movie, according to Deadline.
Wise is known for starring as Nola Darling, a woman juggling multiple relationships in Spike Lee’s Netflix TV series, an updating of his 1986 film ‘She’s Gotta Have It’.
‘Captain Marvel’ will be her first major motion picture.
‘Room’ star Larson plays the title character, whose alter-ego is known as Carol Danvers.
The new Marvel movie will also star Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn as the villain and Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury.
He played the part in six movies, including ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and the first ‘Iron Man’ film in 2008.
While it has not been confirmed who Mendelsohn will play, Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently teased that the shape-shifting alien group known as the Skrulls would feature in ‘Captain Marvel’.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will direct the project, scripted by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will produce.
The story follows Air Force pilot Carol whose DNA is fused with that of an alien in an accident, giving her super strength, energy projection and flight powers.
While the details of the motion picture are being kept tightly under wraps, Feige announced at the San Diego Comic Con this year that the film will be set in the 90s, meaning this will take place before the events of the ‘Avengers’ movie.

Sir Ridley Scott to helm The Merlin Saga?

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott is reportedly in talks to helm Disney’s ‘The Merlin Saga’.
The 80-year-old filmmaker is believed to be undergoing negotiations with the media giants to helm the upcoming movie, which will be based around the iconic tale of the legendary wizard Merlin, who is a character from Arthurian legend.
According to a report by Variety magazine, Ridley’s production company Scott Free is also said to be discussing producing deals, which will see the team produce alongside Gil Netter.
Philippa Boyens is already attached to write the feature, which will mark one of two Merlin themed releases in Disney’s calendar. The other is a live-action remake of their 1963 animated feature ‘The Sword in the Stone’.
Whilst a deal between Disney and Ridley is not yet closed, Variety’s sources have claimed the project will likely be Ridley’s next movie.
‘The Merlin Saga’ is being adapted from the series of books published in the late 1990s and early 2000s by T.A. Barron, which followed a young Merlin before he went on to become the mentor for the fictional character of King Arthur.
Ridley’s possible employment comes after he recently revealed he would never helm a ‘Star Wars’ movie, as he thinks he’s too “dangerous” for the franchise, which is also owned by Disney.
He said: “I’m too dangerous for that. I think they [Disney/Lucasfilm] like to be in control, and I like to be in control myself.
“When you get a guy who’s done a low-budget movie and you suddenly give him $180 million, it makes no sense whatsoever. It’s f**king stupid.”
Disney will no doubt have to shell out a hefty fee to get Ridley on board for ‘The Merlin Saga’ – which has not yet been cast – but the star insists the costs will be worth it.
He claimed: “You can get me for my fee, which is heavy, but I’ll be under budget and on time.
“This is where experience does matter, it’s as simple as that! It can make you dull as dishwater, but if you’re really experienced and you know what you’re doing, it’s f**king essential.
“Grow into it, little by little. Start low-budget, get a little bit bigger, maybe after $20 million, you can go to $80. But don’t suddenly go to $160.”
