Peter Andre, Jamie Lomas, Gok Wan and Kem Cetinay are joining the panel of ‘Loose Women’ for a Valentine’s Day date

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Andre, Jamie Lomas, Gok Wan and Kem Cetinay are joining the panel of ‘Loose Women’ for a Valentine’s Day date. The lads will sit alongside regular panellists Coleen Nolan, Linda Robson, Janet Street-Porter and Denise Van Outen on the ITV lunchtime show this Wednesday (14.02.18) for a love special, Female First mediates.

As well as discussing love and romance, the men and women will also be pitched against each other in a battle of the sexes. Kem, 21, might be considered a love expert after winning ‘Love Island’ with his now ex-girlfriend Amber Davies last year, while reality star Peter, 44, is a devoted husband and father of four, and a frequent visitor to the show. Soap star and ‘I’m A Celebrity’ runner-up Jamie, 42, was exposed as a love rat when it was revealed he cheated on his ex-wife, ‘Coronation Street’ star Kym Marsh. Gok, 43, last year said he is still searching for ‘the one’.

Meanwhile, regular panellist Coleen, 52, is nursing a broken heart after she announced last week that she is divorcing her husband of 10 years, Ray Fensome. Coleen revealed she and Ray – who tied the knot in 2007 and have 16-year-old daughter Ciara together – have decided to end their decade long marriage after a “hellish” 12 months which left their romance “truly dead”.

In her column for the Daily Mirror newspaper, she wrote: “We can’t go back. There is too much dividing me and Ray. I can hardly sit here and keep dishing out advice if I’m not being totally straight about what is going on in my own life. Once you know your marriage is truly dead you need to make your peace with that, bury the past and move on. After 17 years together that’s what I’m about to do.”

Carey Mulligan cried after red carpet events: I hated all of it – the interviews, the red carpets

OHMYGOSSIP — Carey Mulligan used to cry after red carpet events. The 32-year-old actress felt incredibly uncomfortable in the spotlight and was terrified of the awards circuit, but these days she tries to just see it as “fun” and enjoys them much more, HMVnews mediates.

She said: “I hated all of it – the interviews, the red carpets. I used to get to the end of a red carpet and start crying – I felt so uncomfortable. It took a lot out of me and it was an alien environment that I felt completely out of kilter with. These days it’s all fun, that’s the only way to take it. Something like that would never scare me now in the way it did then.”

The ‘Mudbound’ actress – who has two-year-old daughter Evelyn, and a three-month-old child whose name and gender are unknown, with husband Marcus Mumford – has also grown to embrace her celebrity status as a platform to bring attention to causes close to her heart.

Carey said she likes to take on movies that draw on uncomfortable topics. She explained to Psychologies magazine: “Film has an extraordinary ability to make us look at the things that make us uncomfortable. I like that, but it can also be terrifying.”

When she isn’t working, Carey loves the peace and quiet of life at home with her family in Devon, England. She said: “We have a farm, but we are not farmers. It’s just that we enjoy the peace and beauty of living in the countryside.”

LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy explains why Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired from ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ and were replaced by Ron Howard

OHMYGOSSIP — Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired from ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ because their “process” didn’t suit LucasFilm. The directorial duo signed up to the project – which focuses on the origins of the Rebel Alliance leader, played by Alden Ehrenreich – in July 2015 and began shooting last February, but they stepped away from the movie in June and were replaced by Ron Howard and now LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy has explained why they were let go.

She told Entertainment Weekly: “I think these guys are hilarious, but they come from a background of animation and sketch comedy. And when you are making these movies, you can do that and there’s plenty of room for improvisation, we do that all the time, but it has to be inside of a highly structured process or you can’t get the work done. And you can’t move the armies of people to anticipate and have things ready. So, it literally came down to process. Just getting it done.”

But the 64-year-old executive insisted it wasn’t an easy decision to make. She added: “I just say over and over again that, yes, it was an incredibly difficult decision that we had to make and obviously it was pretty late in the game, which shows we spent a lot of time trying not to have to make that decision. And I think both Chris and Phil are enormously talented and incredibly funny..

“When all of this came together, all of us wanted nothing more than to have this be an incredible working experience. And when it was not working out as we had all hoped, it wasn’t out of lack of talent.”

“Solo: A Star Wars Story”, now directed by Ron Howard, blasts into theatres on May 25.

Christopher Nolan: Harry Styles earned his place in Dunkirk: I think what he does in the film is truthful, simple and understated. I was really, really pleased

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Nolan says Harry Styles “earned” his place in ‘Dunkirk’. The One Direction star made his acting debut in the suspense thriller as soldier Alex last year, and the director says from his very first audition he was impressed with how well the 24-year-old singer read the script, and heaped praise on his “understated and “truthful” performance in the movie.

Nolan – who claims to have not known who the ‘Kiwi’ singer was – told Collider.com: “To be honest, he just threw his hat into the ring. We were casting unknowns. We were casting guys of the right age, not 30-year-olds to play 25-year-olds. We wanted 18, 19 and 20-year-olds. We’d managed to fill some of the slots.

“We’d narrowed it down to a group, but we didn’t have the character of Alex. He sent in an audition on tape, same as everybody else, and I wasn’t really familiar with who he was. I mean, I’d heard of him. He just gave a great read and we decided to throw him into the mix for these mass auditions. Over the course of a week, changing up groups and trying different combinations, he earned his seat at the table. I think what he does in the film is truthful, simple and understated. I was really, really pleased.”

Nolan looked to fellow filmmaker Steven Spielberg for inspiration for the movie as he values him as a “touchstone” of the genre, and the ‘War of the Worlds’ director advised him not to do a movie filmed on water after he did ‘Jaws’, but he went ahead with it.

Speaking about his influence, Nolan explained: “Anytime you’re working in such a familiar genre, you look to the touchstones of it. You look to the things that really succeeded, in a particular way, for how they’re going to inform what you do.

“It clarified, in my mind, that I had to view this not so much as a war film, but as a suspense thriller, and have an unseen enemy and a type of tension with the language of suspense, whereby you can’t take your eyes off the screen. What Steven did so brilliantly in ‘Saving Private Ryan’ was use the language of horror, which is one whereby you’re looking away from the screen.

“It’s a different thing, but it’s very useful to be able to talk to filmmaker. I mostly spoke to Steven about ‘Jaws’ and about shooting on the water because I’d never done that, and his advice was, ‘Don’t.'”

The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star Chloe Sims won’t use public transport: That’s not me being snobby – I’m scared of crowded spaces

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Sims won’t use public transport. The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star insists she isn’t “snobby” but she won’t take the underground or catch a bus because she doesn’t like how crowded they get. She wrote in her column for Star magazine: “I was surprised the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ team caught the Tube to the London auditions last week. I never use the underground. That’s not me being snobby – I’m scared of crowded spaces, Female First mediates.

“I went on it once and had a full-on panic attack and I vowed never to go back. I get the overground train from Brentwood to Liverpool Street sometimes but I never get the bus.”

The 35-year-old star is planning to “reinvent” herself before the next series of ‘TOWIE’. She said: “Georgia says she thinks the ‘TOWIE’ cast will up their game next series after the recent cull and I hope they do because it makes the show more interesting. I’ll be bringing my A game. Before every series I try to reinvent myself and this time I’m having a dramatic hair change. I’ll be a 10/10 for sure.”

Chloe recently admitted she had always expected to be married by now. She said when asked where she sees herself in five years from now: “I have no idea. Five years ago I thought I’d be married off by now.”

But Chloe thinks some of her lack of love may be down to the fact that she doesn’t like to date people outside of the show because it’s easier on camera. She explained: “It’s easier and more convenient to have a boyfriend on the show. I’ve had to face most of my dramas by myself.”

And when she is feeling a little down in the dumps, the blonde beauty turns to her close friend Diags because he manages to cheer her up when she’s feeling miserable.
She added: “He’s the light of my life. You can’t be miserable around him.”

Jeremy Clarkson has signed up to present ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has signed up to present ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’. The ‘Grand Tour’ presenter is set to work on a revamped version of the game show – which was originally presented by Chris Tarrant – for production company Stellify Media, who were behind Paul O’Grady’s revival of ‘Blind Date’, metro.co.uk mediates.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Jeremy is a huge character and the bosses are convinced he is going to come in and really make the show his own. As well as interviewing contestants and giving answers, he’ll be injecting plenty of humour. The show was a huge hit last time around and the hope is that it’ll live up to that success the second time around.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9s7H8MYlGo

Work on the programme is expected to begin later this year. The popular quiz show – which saw contestants answer questions to win increasingly large sums of money – first aired in 1998 and ended in 2013 after Chris, 57, announced he was stepping down as host.

Meanwhile, Jeremy’s ‘Grand Tour’ co-host James May – who he previously also worked with on ‘Top Gear’ – recently revealed the motoring presenters aren’t friends outside of the show.

James – who, along with Jeremy, works alongside Richard Hammond – admitted: “Outside of work, we don’t meet up. It’s very rare. I’ve spent so much time with them by the time we get to the end of work. I have no real desire spend any more with them! I have other friends and a woman waiting at home who loves me. And that’s preferable!”

X Factor bosses contemplating big shake-up. A source said ITV believes the programme may work better by returning to a single show on a Saturday

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X Factor’ bosses are planning to axe boot camp. Producers on the TV talent show are looking to shake up the show with a number of changes, including axing the Sunday night results show, and fast-tracking contestants from the audition stages straight to the six-chair challenge.

A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “The question being asked is whether things could be done a little bit differently in the new series. One idea being looked at is whether getting rid of the Sunday show would allow ITV to put all its focus and resources into making Saturday night’s ‘X Factor’ even more spectacular. Nothing has been decided but there are lots of ideas being thrown around.”

If the Sunday show does get axed, programme bosses are considering having a brief break in proceedings on Saturday nights, with the main programme ending and then a second show scheduled for later in the evening to reveal who has not made it through to the next stage of the competition.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObmVcCgVrAo

It is hoped the proposed changes – which could also see Cheryl Tweedy return to the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne in place of Nicole Scherzinger – will “strengthen” the programme.

A source told The Sun Online: “‘X Factor’ is the biggest music TV show on air in the UK and changes are often looked at as a way to evolve and strengthen it for future series.”
However, no changes have been confirmed as yet.

A spokesperson for the show said: “No decisions have been made about the new series.”

Kem Cetinay’s highly anticipated performance on tonight’s Dancing on Ice is hanging in the balance after his skating partner suffered a horrific injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Kem Cetinay’s ‘Dancing On Ice’ performance is in doubt after his skating partner injured her ankle. The ‘Love Island’ star was rehearsing with Alex Murphy on Friday (09.02.18) when the skater hurt her leg, and she’s said to only have a 50/50 chance of being fit enough to perform on the show tonight (11.02.18).

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “This is a nightmare for Kem and Alex. They’d worked really hard on their routine for this week’s show but now everything is hanging in the balance. It’s 50/50 whether she’ll be able to perform.”

Producers reportedly have a “reserve skater” lined up to work with Kem, but they are also “considering fast-tracking the pair to next week’s show” and letting them bypass tonight’s performance completely, but they will not make a definite decision until just a few hours before the programme airs live on ITV.

News of Alex’s injury comes just a few days after it was reported a number of stars on the show had been hit by a virus. Kem, Donna Air and Lemar were all said to have been facing a “race against time” to be fit enough for this weekend.

A source said earlier this week: “It’s a race against time to get fit again ahead of this weekend’s show. Not a day goes by when there isn’t someone else being laid low. It has never happened this bad on the show, especially as it happened at the start of the show too.”

And it’s not just bosses who are concerned as professional skater Matt Evers – who was booted out of the competition along with his partner Candice Brown last month – is worried that he’ll come down with the bug and it’ll put him out of the group routines.

Writing in his Best magazine column, Matt said: “We are over halfway through and the relentless pace takes its toll. Donna Air said she feels like her body needs a week in bed. It’s what we’re all feeling.”

Kill Bill stunt coordinator Keith Adam: Uma Thurman should never have had to perform the 2003 stunt in which she was badly injured

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Kill Bill’ stunt coordinator Keith Adam says Uma Thurman should never have had to perform the 2003 stunt in which she was badly injured. The 47-year-old actress has blamed the producer, director Quentin Tarantino and his then co-workers E. Bennett Walsh and Harvey Weinstein for the incident in 2003 because she felt they forced her to perform the driving sequence, which she felt uncomfortable doing, and then covered up the evidence after the crash.

And Adams says he was not on set on the day of the incident and never asked about or told that Uma Thurman would be performing that particular stunt. He told The Hollywood Reporter: “No stunts of any kind were scheduled for the day of Ms. Thurman’s accident. All of the stunt department was put on hold and no one from the stunt department was called to set. At no point was I notified or consulted about Ms. Thurman driving a car on camera that day. Had I been involved I would have insisted not only on putting a professional driver behind the wheel but also insuring that the car itself was road-worthy and safe.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7nA__1gbSw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W868AREq484

Thurman made the revelation in a recent interview with The New York Times newspaper, explaining the accident which crushed her knees, left her with a concussion and required her to wear a neck brace to recover.

But producer Lawrence Bender denied hiding anything from Uma and is adamant the safety of the cast and crew he works with is “vital” to him and he would never put someone in danger intentionally.

He said: “I deeply regret that Uma suffered the pain she has, both physically and emotionally, for all of these years from the accident that occurred on the set of ‘Kill Bill’.

“The safety of the professionals who work on the movies I produce is vital to me and I never want to let anyone down. I never hid anything from Uma or anyone else nor did I participate in any cover up of any kind – and I never would.

“I was informed of Uma’s feelings in regard to this incident a few months ago and have done my best over this time to get as much verifiable information from all of the relevant sources that I could and shared it with Quentin. I wanted to make sure she had all of the answers she had been seeking.

“I have great respect for Uma Thurman, both as an artist and a person, and only wish her well.”

Elizabeth Debicki has described working on ‘Peter Rabbit’ as a live beast

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Debicki has described working on ‘Peter Rabbit’ as a “live beast”. The actress voices the animated character Mopsy in the upcoming family blockbuster – which is based on Beatrix Potter’s iconic character – and she admitted that director and writer Will Gluck was constantly making changes to the script as they were working on the film, Female First mediates.

She told Collider: “The script was really a live beast, and it changed and morphed with Will making changes to it as we went along. I think the characters developed… There was an incarnation when Mopsy was into design, which I loved, which I still know to be the truth about her. It is a really live thing that you’re doing and because you have the malleability of the animation, you can really change who these little characters are as you go along.”

The 27-year-old star also reflected on her past roles, and said more people are approaching her about 2015 spy comedy ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E’ despite it being released almost three years ago.

Debicki – who played the villainous Victoria Vinciguerra in the movie – added: “Strangely actually recently a few people have past me in the street or in a restaurant and commented on [the film]. I thought maybe I was having a particularly evil day and giving off vibes.”

Meanwhile, ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ actress – who appears in the new Netflix movie but had remained coy about her role until its release earlier this month – confirmed she is set to enjoy some downtime.

She said: “I’m actually on a little break, which is lovely. I shot a lot of stuff back to back last year, and now I’m trying this new thing called sleep. I know it’s bizarre.”

Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort and Zendaya have joined the new crime thriller “Finest Kind” written and directed by Brian Helgeland

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort and Zendaya are set to star in thriller ‘Finest Kind’. The trio have signed up for the new crime movie, written and directed by Brian Helgeland, which tells the story of two half-brothers (Jake and Ansel), who make a deal with a crime syndicate and get involved with the Boston underworld, Variety mediates.

Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff will produce the movie along with Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas. Jake and Riva Marker will also produce the film through their company Nine Stories. Helgeland previously won an Oscar for writing ‘L.A. Confidential’ and directed the Jackie Robinson biopic ’42’ and ‘Legend’, starring Tom Hardy.

Meanwhile, Jake recently declared that ‘Stronger’ is the “most important” movie he has ever made. The 37-year-old star portrays Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman – who had both of his legs blown off near the finish line of the event in April 2013 – in the motion picture and admitted the film means more than any other because it helped Jeff to “heal”.

He said: “This movie has changed me in ways that I can’t really put into words and is the most important film I’ve made so far for a number of reasons. I think we helped [Jeff] see things about himself that helped him heal, which, to me, is why I think this movie means more to me than anyone I’ve ever made.”

Gyllenhaal was “terrified” about being introduced to Jeff – whose memoir ‘Stronger’ inspired the movie – but now talks to him on a daily basis after spending two-and-a-half years shooting the film.

He added: “I was terrified to meet him. But he trusted me. I have no clue why. We talk almost every day and I love him. If this movie only helped Jeff survive, then the two-and-a-half years I’ve spent making it have been worthwhile. If it touches anyone else, it’s extra credit.”

Josh O’Connor stopped filming to deliver a lamb: It was part of wanting the whole thing to be authentic

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh O’Connor had to stop filming ‘God’s Own Country’ to deliver a lamb. The 27-year-old actor spent several weeks working on a farm as research for his role as farmer Johnny and immersed himself in the experience as much as he could, HMVnews.com mediates.

He told Heat magazine: “It was part of wanting the whole thing to be authentic. I worked with a guy called John for three weeks before filming and during the shoot. I’d be doing a scene, they’d yell cut and then John would come and get me and I’d help deliver a lamb. So I wasn’t in a trailer with my feet up, I was going to the farm and sticking my hand up a cow’s a**e.”

Josh believes audiences will be able to connect with troubled Johnny, who finds a new way to love when he meets a Romanian migrant worker – who is played by Alec Secareanu – and wanted to show how there is always “hope”.

He said: “I think we all have, or have had, a character like Johnny in our lives – someone who is so angry and seems to have no hope. He’s a hot mess who lets his anger out with casual sex and alcohol abuse. Somewhere deep within me is someone like that, and we’ve all dated someone like that, so I wanted to give the other side of that story. I wanted to show how he gets hope in his life. I wanted to see that film.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BaweYQWlphm/?taken-by=joshographee

And the actor is very proud that shooting each scene took so few takes to get right. He said: “The descriptions of the sex scenes in the script are very vivid and visceral and beautiful and then we choreographed them so we did know what we were going to do. Like the sex scene in the mud, which is so mad and dirty and wild, was so carefully choreographed that we did it in two takes. In fact, there’s not one scene in the whole film that we did more than twice.”

Saoirse Ronan says it’s mad how successful Lady Bird has been: It was a tiny little film that’s become such a big commercial hit. It’s really nice

OHMYGOSSIP — Saoirse Ronan thinks it’s “mad” that ‘Lady Bird’ has become such a success. The 23-year-old actress stars as teenager Christine in the new movie by Greta Gerwig, and the coming-of-age drama has been nominated for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, dailymail.co.uk mediates.

It was named Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the recent Golden Globes and Ronan was chosen as the winner of Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and she is simply staggered that this “tiny little film” has done so well.

Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ – to air on BBC One on Friday night (09.02.18) – Ronan said: “It’s great. It’s mad that it’s done so well. It was a tiny little film that’s become such a big commercial hit. It’s really nice.”

‘Lady Bird’ – which saw the film take home the Golden Globe for Best Film – follows outspoken teenager Christine (Ronan) who must navigate a loving but turbulent relationship with her strong-willed mother over the course of an eventful and poignant senior year of high school.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIPpvsf98wI

In order to get back into the mind of a 17-year-old girl, Ronan revealed she watched a lot of TV shows based around teenage characters. She said: “I watched a lot of ‘Saved by the Bell’ and ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’.”

Ronan has also been nominated for Best Actress at Oscars and admitted she forgot that the nominations were being announced. She said: “I’d actually forgotten that they were coming out – it had gone completely out of my head.”

The actress – who was also joined on the iconic sofa by ‘Will and Grace’ stars Eric McCormack and Debra Messing, as well as comedian Rob Beckett and singer Keala Settle – also recalled taking her mum to see her latest movie in the cinema.

She said: “My mam is very proud of me and I wanted her to see the film as part of a real audience so we went to an afternoon performance in LA. I thought it would be sold out and warned her to keep her head down so we weren’t recognised. When we got in there, there were six other people … all on their phones! No one was interested in us at all.”

Jamie Dornan makes his third and final appearance in ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ and doesn’t care what fans think of the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Dornan doesn’t care what fans think of the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ franchise. The 35-year-old actor has portrayed S&M enthusiast Christian Grey in the erotic films and makes his third and final appearance in ‘Fifty Shades Freed’, The Daily Iberian mediates.

Dornan insists he doesn’t pay attention to critics or fans’ opinions of his work, and he stays off social media so not to be tempted to look at people’s comments about his acting.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Dornan said: “I don’t really pay too much attention to how I’m perceived by audiences. That’s why I’m not on social media. The only thing that matters to me is what my family and closest friends think of me.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlZHWNsiAQA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsixeBUDnXw

Recently, Dornan insisted he is too old to carry on the franchise and now that E. L. James’ three books have been turned into films it’s time for him and his co-star Dakota Johnson – who plays Christian’s lover Anastasia Steele – to walk away from their characters.

He said: “It’s time, I don’t think there’s a story. Erica [E.L. James] wrote the two books from Christian’s perspective but that has been done in the films. But Dakota and I, particularly me, are too old for doing this.”

The final film focuses on newlyweds Christian and Anastasia as they try and move on from their past, however, as Anastasia steps into her role as Mrs. Grey, Christian relaxes into an unfamiliar stability, which could threaten their relationship.

Although Dornan is finished with the franchise his co-star Rita Ora has teased there could be a ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ spin-off. The 27-year-old singer-turned-actress has starred as Christian’s adopted sister Mia in the hit movies and she thinks there is another story to be told which focused on her alter ego. She said: “There could be a sequel because I get kidnapped and there’s a whole thing that happens, I’m not spoiling it because the book is already out.”

Black Panther star Michael B Jordan: I spent a lot of time alone to get into Erik Killmonger´s character

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan trained for a year-and-a-half before he began filming ‘Black Panther’. The 31-year-old actor stars as villain Erik Kilmonger in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie and revealed the intense training regime – which he compared to a “Swiss army knife” – he had to do helped him prepare for the role.

Speaking to the Metro Online at the European premiere of ‘Black Panther’ at London’s Eventim Apollo on Thursday (08.02.18), Jordan said: “I spent a lot of time alone. Erik’s a very lonely guy, a very pained character so that’s part of it. And also like physically preparing for it, working out, training, it was kind of a Swiss army knife of a lot of different skill sets. So training for about a year and half before we started filming really helped with the preparation for the role.”

The motion picture is expected to expand on the storyline that was first introduced in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ of how T’Challa – played by Chadwick Boseman – becomes the Black Panther.

T’Challa’s father T’Chaka is king of the African nation Wakanda and has the ceremonial title Black Panther as the chief of the Panther Tribe, but is killed when a bomb goes off at the UN making his son the Black Panther.

Other actors in the movie include Forest Whitaker, who takes on the role of Zuri, an elder statesman in Wakanda, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia and ‘The Walking Dead’ star Danai Gurira – who portrays Okoye, the head of the Dora Milaje, the Black Panther’s personal bodyguards.

Jordan also admitted he thinks the film – which has been praised for having a predominately all-black cast – will have an impact on children growing up. He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’d watch films growing up and I’d automatically play make-believe. I watched ‘Blade’ and I saw Wesley [Snipes] … I was seeing someone that resembles me. I think about what this movie is going to do to kids growing up.”

Christopher Nolan: It was very daunting making Dunkirk because he is British

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Nolan said it was “very daunting” making ‘Dunkirk’ because he is British. The 47-year-old filmmaker helmed the epic World War II blockbuster, which has been nominated for Best Picture at the BAFTAs and Academy Awards this year.

Speaking to Collider, Nolan said: “It was very daunting, for a British person to take on this story. It’s a story we grow up knowing. It’s part of the national spirit. We talk about the Dunkirk spirit. It’s sacred ground. To a certain extent, you have to put that out of your mind and just try to do the best job you can, but there’s a moment where I was privileged to be able to sit with some of the veterans who had actually been there. There are very few of them left and they’re in their late 90s now, and that came with a very heavy sense of responsibility. One of the stories I was told, by somebody who has since passed on but that I got to sit with, was about seeing someone just walk into the sea, and seeing men just walking into the sea and swimming out. I said to him ‘were they really trying to swim out to the ships or were they killing themselves?’ And he said that he didn’t know, but he knew that they were dying. I just knew that we’d have to show that and try to get that across.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xHkBRtVNE0

The impressive cast include Sir Kenneth Branagh and Sir Mark Rylance, others are Nolan regulars such as Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, as well as newcomers Fionn Whitehead and One Direction star Harry Styles.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BeTyn3Pnrph/?taken-by=christophernolanofficial

And despite previously admitted he didn’t have any idea of Styles’ fame, he now said the singer “threw his hat into the ring”. Nolan said: “To be honest, he just threw his hat into the ring. We were casting unknowns. We were casting guys of the right age, not 30 year olds to play 25 year olds. We wanted 18, 19 and 20 year olds. We’d managed to fill some of the slots. We’d narrowed it down to a group, but we didn’t have the character of Alex. He sent in an audition on tape, same as everybody else, and I wasn’t really familiar with who he was. I mean, I’d heard of him. He just gave a great read and we decided to throw him into the mix for these mass auditions. I was really, really pleased.”
