Joaquin Phoenix in Talks to Play the Joker in Todd Phillips’ Standalone Movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Joaquin Phoenix is set to play the Joker in a standalone movie. The 43-year-old actor has not yet entered negotiations with Warner Bros., but after director Todd Phillips made it clear he was his top choice to play the Clown Prince of Crime in his planned origin movie, Joaquin has agreed in principle to starring in the film, sources told Variety.

The insiders explained the director – who will also write the comic book saga – met with Joaquin late last year to discuss the project, and was just waiting for the go-ahead from the studio to formally offer him the role.

The movie, and Joaquin’s casting, will have no effect on Jared Leto’s portrayal of The Joker, which he debuted in ‘Suicide Squad’ and could star as in future DC Comics films, including the expected ‘Suicide Squad 2’.

The origins tale will be released under an as-yet-announced new banner of DC Comics, which would give the studio the chance to expand on its popular characters with unique story angles not currently included in their cinematic universe.

The movie, which will be co-written by Scott Silver, will reportedly be set in the 1980s and will have the look of a gritty crime drama, rather than a comic-book tale.
It was previously rumoured Leonardo DiCaprio had been lined up for The Joker role.

Meanwhile, Joaquin was considered for Lex Luthor in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ but passed, and the DC villain was eventually played by Jesse Eisenberg.
He was also in talks for Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’, but passed on that project too.

Harrison Ford spoke with Alden Ehrenreich about Han Solo character

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford gave Alden Ehrenreich some advice on how to play Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off.
The 75-year-old screen legend first portrayed the fan favourite space smuggler in the original trilogy starting with ‘Episode IV: A New Hope’, and then reprised his role in 2015’s ‘The Force Awakens’ where his character was mercilessly killed by his own son Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
Now, Solo’s origin story is coming to the big screen in Ron Howard’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has revealed that Ford met with Ehrenreich to give him some advice on taking on the mantle as the Millennium Falcon pilot, words which stayed with the 28-year-old actor.
Kennedy told Entertainment Weekly: “It was perfect, classic Harrison. Good kid, good kid. Really good kid. I think being who Harrison is, there is no way he would step into the middle of this and start trying to dictate. What [Ford] did so beautifully for Alden was he talked a lot about what he remembered when he first read ‘Star Wars’, and what George [Lucas] had done with Han. Who the character was and the conversations he had for so many years with George about how that character developed. He gave Alden that kind of insight which was invaluable. There were several times in the course of making the movie where Alden would actually recount some of the things that Harrison had pointed out. I think that was really, really, helpful to him.”
It wasn’t just Ehrenreich who spoke with the ‘Star Wars’ legend but also filmmaker Howard – who took over production after Chris Miller and Phil Lord left due to creative differences – wanted to know what Ford had learned about the character.
Howard said: “Harrison’s a very thoughtful actor and an artist, and I wanted to know what he learned about the character. He said that Han is always torn between that sense that he was, in a way, an orphan and therefore both yearned for connection with people and struggled with it at the same time. I thought that was pretty interesting.”

Rob Liefeld compares Deadpool 2 to Aliens

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Liefeld has compared ‘Deadpool 2’ to ‘Aliens’.
The 50-year-old comic book creator – who created the Cable character who is to be seen in the highly anticipated sequel played by Josh Brolin – was petrified when the casting of his iconic antihero was to be announced and said the sequel has “loads more action”.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Liefeld said: “Casting Cable was the most important thing this movie had to do. I lived and died by whatever name leaked that day. I had ulcer upon ulcer upon ulcer. When Josh was announced, my wife will tell you, I jumped 12 feet in the air, maybe higher. ‘Deadpool’ was ‘Alien’. It’s brilliant. It completely works. It’s a masterpiece. ‘Deadpool 2’ is ‘Aliens’.
“It’s when James Cameron came in and said, ‘OK you want me to do this? We’re going to make it bigger, put in loads more action.'”
On Wednesday (07.02.18), Ryan Reynolds dropped a new trailer the upcoming sequel.
The 41-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Deadpool aka Wade Wilson in the upcoming action-packed movie and now he has dropped the new trailer.
It starts with villain Cable giving a voiceover narration saying: “I was born into war, right into it. People think they understand pain but they have no concept on. What was the most pain you ever felt? Maybe the kind that leaves you more machine than man.”
The trailer then stops and Deadpool’s voiceover can be heard asking why the visual effects for Cable’s metal arm hasn’t been completed yet.
He also pokes fun at ‘Justice League’ after the shoddy removal of Henry Cavill’s moustache in the DC Extended Universe movie.
Deadpool says: “It’s a metal arm, it’s not like we are trying to remove a moustache.”
The proper trailer then begins with Cable’s metal arm and sees the villain beating and fighting a number of soldiers.
Clips of the titular character fighting a number of adversaries as well as newcomer Zazie Beetz making her debut as Domino.
Brianna Hildebrand is back as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and appears she has controlled her powers and will be using them in full force in the upcoming sequel.
The trailer finishes with Cable saying to Deadpool and Blind Al (Leslie Uggams): “Your time is up, you dumb f**k.”
Deadpool then looks to the camera and says: “Well, that’s just lazy writing.”
The film is slated for release on May 18.

Jordan Peele never thought Get Out would get made

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan Peele never thought ‘Get Out’ would be made.
The 38-year-old actor and filmmaker is currently being praised for his directorial debut and has received continuous nominations, and on Wednesday night (07.02.18), the film won the Best Picture at the African American Film Critics Association Awards.
But Peele admitted the film only started as a “fun project” but once he started getting heavily into the writing process he knew the horror was becoming an “allegory for slavery”.
He said: “It started as a fun project. I didn’t know it was ever going to get made. I’d go home, smoke a little bit of weed and I would write.
“I would watch this movie in my head, this movie that I wish somebody would write for me to watch and that was it. I knew that something scary needed to happen. I knew that in some ways my movie was an allegory for slavery. But I also knew that at this point, the structure of the film, it needed to take us on a ride because it’s the horror genre.
“I wrote this scene in a very vulnerable state. I put my worst fears out there and onto the page and when I was finished writing that scene, that experience of writing this movie changed. I realised what this movie was about. I realised that slavery was not something of the past. The sunken place to me, shouted to me, that in today’s time, in modern time, we have black men and women abducted and put in dark holes.
“We have our freedoms taken away … I realised at that point that there were people being locked up and taken out of the world and taken from their families for holding less weed than I was smoking while I was writing this movie.”
Peele – who is famous for working with Keegan-Michael Key in sketch show ‘Key & Peele’ – also realised that there have not been many horror movies made specifically for African American audiences, with black characters often relegated to supporting roles in franchises like ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’.
He said: “I used to go to the movie theatre and watch horror movies an you know black people, we yell s**t at the screen.
“I’d go watch like a Freddy [Kruger] movie and you’d hear people saying s**t like ‘Oh, bitch, get of the house’, or, ‘No. no, no … don’t walk backwards!’ or, ‘You’re white – call the cops!’
“I got it in my head that there was a missing piece of the conversation. There was a film that we were asking for, begging for that wasn’t there for us. We are a loyal horror film audience so I wanted to fill that gap. I wanted to fill that void and the best part of watching ‘Get Out’ is hearing black people in the theatre.”

Guillermo del Toro wants to make Frankenstein

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro wants to make a new movie adaptation of ‘Frankenstein’.
The 53-year-old Mexican filmmaker is best known for his creature features with his gothic tale ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ and most recent release ‘The Shape of Water’ garnering massive critical acclaim.
Guillermo is still fascinated by Mary Shelley’s turn-of-the-century tale about Dr. Frankenstein’s creation – which was unforgettably first brought to life on the big screen in 1931 with Boris Karloff portraying the monster.
In an interview with The I Paper, he said: “To this day, no one has made the book. Every ‘Frankenstein’ adaptation goes off at a tangent.”
The story of ‘Frankenstein’ has been adapted multiple times – including the 1994 Robert de Niro-led movie and 2015’s panned ‘Victor Frankenstein’, starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy.
The adaptation that resonates with Guillermo the most is the 1970s TV series starring James Mason, Leonard Whiting and Jane Seymour.
He said: “It was a beautiful, erudite, strange recreation of the myth of ‘Frankenstein’.”
Brought up in a Catholic household, the idea of Catholicism is frequent in many of his movies and the iconic filmmaker even compared Shelley’s story to the religion.
Del Toro said: “There is a syncretism of Catholic dogma and the idea of sacrifice into a profane iconography, which is the monster. To me, the creation of ‘Frankenstein’ is in many ways similar to a crucifixion – a martyr who dies for his sins.”
Now, Guillermo is winning a host of awards for his ‘Creature from the Black Lagoon’ homage ‘The Shape of Water’ – which has been nominated for 13 Academy Awards this year – and he has spilled that he never wanted to make a “Disney princess” out his leading lady Sally Hawkins.
Hawkins stars as a mute, cleaner Elisa in a secret base and falls in love with a mysterious amphibian creature from South America.
And the filmmaker admitted he didn’t want to make her a “demure girl waiting for her prince”.
He said: “I wanted her to cook eggs, shine her shoes, masturbate and then go to work.
“I thought it was important that there was that dimension to her. I didn’t want her to be a demure girl waiting for a prince to rescue her.
“I didn’t want her to be a puritan princess who kisses a guy who turns into a dude.”

Andy Serkis teases a darker Baloo the bear in Mowgli

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Serkis teased his version of Baloo the bear is “quite tough”.
The 53-year-old actor and filmmaker has helmed a new adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s iconic novel ‘The Jungle Book’ and will voice the beloved bear in the CGI remake named ‘Mowgli’ – which is separate from the Disney live-action reboot.
However, despite having a career playing villains including Gollum in ‘Lord of the Rings’ franchise, Supreme Leader Snoke in ‘Star Wars’ and Ulysses Klaue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Serkis admitted he loves playing the bad guy and has even given a darker twist on Baloo.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (08.02.18), Serkis said: “It’s quite fun being the villain, actually. Especially when finding ways to make the villain appealing in some ways and so, I mean, look, it’s all about the character. But you’ll see me being Baloo. He is quite nice. He is actually quite tough in this one. A dark Baloo. ‘Mowgli’ that’s the one I’ve been directing which is coming out later this year.”
Now, Serkis is back reprising his role as Klaue in the highly anticipated ‘Black Panther’ movie and admitted he had to train like an athlete for the film.
He said: “I did workout. I was aware I had to be fit for the movie. For these movies you have to be quite fit and I do keep myself fit. I think I was eating well at the time. You have to be athletic for these movies. The amount of stunts you are doing and the amount of training that you do. It’s like being an athlete for these movies particularly like Chadwick Boseman who plays Black Panther.”
‘Black Panther’ has been highly praised for having a predominately all black cast and Serkis said it was “overdue” and the “right time to make it”.
He said: “It’s overdue, but it’s the right time to make it. If ever there was the right time to make this film, it is now. And that’s why I think it’s resonating across the world and will do. It’s a ground-breaking movie and the great thing is, to have this film on this scale of blockbuster material, having a predominately black cast has never been done before.”

Alicia Vikander ‘turned blue’ filming Tomb Raider

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Vikander “turned blue” whilst filming ‘Tomb Raider’.
The 29-year-old actress plays action hero Lara Croft in the upcoming movie and has revealed she got so cold during the shooting that her skin changed colour and they had to halt filming for a moment for her to warm up.
She said: “Pain? Real. Water? Cold. Bruises and hits you just suck up. The chill is the tough thing. When you reach hypothermia level, we had to reshoot because I turned too blue.”
And the ‘Light Between Oceans’ star was thrilled to have been signed up for this movie as it has been her “dream” to play the action heroine for so long.
She added to the New York Post newspaper: “I’ve dreamt since I was a kid to do a big action-adventure. At age eight, friends had a PlayStation and they played Lara Croft.”
Meanwhile, Alicia previously admitted she found filming ‘Tomb Raider’ as tough as dance training at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, which she attended until she was 18.
She said: “I love big popcorn movies. I’ve never done action scenes on this level – not even close. It feels like I’m back to dancing – the training, the intensity. You need to be aware of your movement up in the wires and how your body works.”
“[I was] bulking up quite a lot at first and then trying to just, like, tone down. I’ve never been able to lift my own weight, and the day when you have that capacity, it’s pretty empowering! And you get the endorphins afterward.”

Francis Lawrence never wants to make a I Am Legend sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Francis Lawrence never planned to make an ‘I Am Legend’ sequel.
The 46-year-old filmmaker helmed the zombie apocalypse 2007 movie which starred Will Smith and although Warner Brothers Studios were keen to make a sequel, Lawrence admitted he couldn’t think of a possible story.
Speaking to Happy Sad Podcast, Lawrence said: “Warners was really, really, really into coming up with something, and I just didn’t know how to do it. I saw very quickly after the movie came out, and I went, ‘People came to see the last man on earth. We’ve done the last man on earth, he died at the end of the movie, we can’t do it again.’ But people weren’t in love with him as a character. It’s not ‘Indiana Jones’, like this kind of iconic character that you just want to see again and again and again.”
The original film followed scientist Robert Neville (Smith) who is a survivor of a man-made plague that transforms humans into bloodthirsty mutants.
As he wanders alone through New York City, he spends his days calling out for other survivors and trying to find a cure for the plague using his immune blood.
Although Neville successfully finds a cure, it comes at a cost of his own life but Lawrence admitted that if they planned to do a sequel Smith’s character would have to remain dead or cloned and brought back to life, and he said that “would have been really dumb”.
He said: “It just felt forced to do a prequel, and that was basically, we would have been doing ‘Contagion’. And to do something that’s a follow-up either doesn’t have him in it, or you have to do something really dumb, which is, you know, ‘Scientists have taken his DNA and reanimated him somehow.’ And that would have been really dumb, and so I just kind of bowed out.”

Armie Hammer signs up for thriller

OHMYGOSSIP — Armie Hammer is to star in a new thriller.
The ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor looks set to appear in the as-yet untitled motion picture, which will tell the story of a New Orleans bartender whose life changes dramatically when he picks up a phone left behind at his establishment.
According to Variety, Babak Anvari will write and direct the movie, with Lucan Toh, Christopher Kopp and Annapurna Pictures all in line to produce.
Film bosses don’t want to hang around with the production and are said to have already set a release date of March 29, 2019.
Hammer recently appeared in fantasy sci-fi film ‘Sorry to Bother You’, which Annapurna Pictures purchased at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
In 2015, he starred as Illya Kuryakin in 1960s spy tale ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’, which was directed by Guy Ritchie, and recently admitted he would love to make a sequel.
When asked last month about making a potential second movie, he said: “I’d love to.
“[Guy and I] had some chats about it and we talked about potential script ideas and stuff like that. I’ve been talking to Lionel [Wigram], who produced and co-wrote and wrote the first one. Yeah, we’ll see. You never know what’s going to happen.
“It all depends. Guy’s really busy right now doing ‘Aladdin’, so we’ll see. You never know.”
The 31-year-old star has two movies in post-production, including ‘Hotel Mumbai’, about the 2008 terror attacks in the Indian city.
He will also star in Ruth Bader Ginsburg biopic ‘On the Basis of Sex’ alongside Felicity Jones and Justin Theroux.

Jake Quickenden: ‘Reality TV brought me love’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Quickenden says he has reality TV to thank for meeting his fiancee.
The former ‘X Factor’ contestant signed up to ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ after his singing career failed to take off and became firm friends with Carl Fogarty. He later met and fell in love with Carl’s daughter Danielle and the pair are now engaged.
Speaking about his reality TV career, he said: “I have built myself up a bit of a career from it, and I’ve come away with a beautiful fiancee. I pinch myself every day.”
And he doesn’t care if people call him a reality TV star.
He told the Daily Mirror: “I’m a normal guy from Scunthorpe who has had every job under the sun. I’ve worked in retail, I’ve been a bricklayer, I’ve worked in McDonald’s, and then I’m offered these opportunities. I’d be stupid to turn them down.
“People always want to judge but I have a little snigger. We’ll see what happens. The dream would be to get a regular presenting job where I don’t have to worry about what’s coming next.
“But I’m just enjoying the ride. I just think life’s too short to take seriously.”
And he wants ‘Love Island’ star and ‘Dancing On Ice’ co-contestant Kem Cetinay to be an usher at his wedding.
He said: “On ‘Dancing on Ice’ I have made genuine mates. Kem Cetinay said he wouldn’t mind being an usher. I’ve already sorted that but he’ll be coming.
“Brooke Vincent and her boyfriend, and I’ll have a cheeky word with Cheryl Baker and see if The Fizz will perform.”

Chloe Ferry thinks all men love fake boobs

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Ferry believes all men love fake boobs.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star has undergone a number of cosmetic surgery treatments, including a nose job and breast uplift, as well as botox and fillers, and she can’t understand why some guys say they prefer a “natural” look.
She said: “Guys who say they love natural and don’t like fake boobs are f***ing liars.”
And Chloe’s boyfriend, Sam Gowland, adores his girlfriend’s enhanced appearance.
Asked how he feels about her having surgery, he said: “I’m not bothered me. It’s her body. I like the fake look.”
Chloe can’t understand why people tell her they preferred her appearance before she had any work done.
She said: “People tell me I need to stop but why do they even care?
“No one can say I looked better before. Why do people lie?”
And the 22-year-old star is also planning to go under the knife again.
She said: “There’s always something you can improve. I’d like a bigger forehead.
“I can’t tell you what I’m getting done [in Los Angeles later this year] but it’s very big.”
However, Chloe won’t be having any work done on her butt.
She said: “I can promise you now I’ve never had bum implants.
“I was ice skating before ‘Geordie Shore’ so I’ve always had a bug bum.”
While she worries about her appearance, Chloe doesn’t stick to a regular work out regime.
She told new! magazine: “Sometimes I’ll be really into it but then I’ll have a cheat meal and think, ‘F**k, I’ll just get fat again.’
“I go through phases of wanting to lose weight.
“Sam is a bad influence, he eats what he wants and he’s dead skinny.
“If I look at cheese, I put weight on.”

Chris Hughes forvives Olivia Attwood

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hughes has forgiven Olivia Attwood for sending flirty messages to her ex-boyfriend.
The ‘Love Island’ stars – who got together last summer after they met and fell in love in the famous villa – hit a rocky patch after he found tweets she had sent to footballer Bradley Dack but she insists they are happier than ever.
She told The Sun: “Me and Chris are fine.”
Speaking about the tweets, a source said: “Chris is obviously gutted and a bit embarrassed by the tweets as he adores Olivia.”
The pair have been plagued with make ups and break ups over the past five months, sparking rumours they’re just together for publicity purposes, but they are adamant their relationship is the real deal and they can’t help but argue sometimes.
When asked previously if their romance was fake, Olivia said: “We wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t real. We’re not filtered. We don’t hide anything. We’re the same in the real world as we are in the villa.”
Chris added: “It’s not like heartbreak exactly, but you wouldn’t go to that level of emotion and get so worked up about something that wasn’t real.”
Olivia explained: “And if it was a showmance we’d make it more glossy and perfect. I think we wouldn’t be just killing each other all the time.”
Fans will get an insight into their relationship when their new show ‘Crackin’ On’ hits television screens but the couple are also keen to do ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ next year – although they’re convinced they’ll spend the whole time fighting.
Asked if they would appear on any other reality shows, Olivia said: “I think we both said the jungle would be amazing, didn’t we?
“Can you imagine? We’d be fighting in there as well. Imagine if we had a challenge together where we had to work together?”
Chris replied: “It wouldn’t happen!”

Laura Whitmore ‘obsessed’ with Davina McCall

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore is “obsessed” with Davina McCall’s bikini body.
The 32-year-old TV presenter admitted she is envious of 50-year-old Davina’s figure and would only strip off for bikini shoots if she looked like her.
She told The Sun: “I would get in a bikini if I looked like Davina McCall and had her body.
“She looks incredible and I’m obsessed with her. I like her six-pack. A woman can be whatever she wants to be and I choose to be a little bit soft.
“No one wants to see me in a bikini anymore. Even when I did FHM I probably wore more clothes than the average person and that was around eight years ago.
“I wouldn’t do anything like that again.”
Meanwhile, Laura also revealed she hopes the stars of ‘Survival of the Fittest’ will have sex on screen.
The host of the new endurance-based ITV reality show, which features a romantic twist allowing rival contestants to date each other, thinks that the participants should follow in the footsteps of ‘Love Island’s stars.
She said: “I definitely want to see them go all the way. People have needs.
“If they like each other enough and care about each other then why not?
“They’re going to be living together in a different country, they will form bonds and they’re all single.
“These shows do create romances that last.”

Big Brother’s first ever winner Craig Phillips gets married

OHMYGOSSIP — Big Brother’s first ever winner Craig Phillips has got married.
The 46-year-old builder – who was crowned the champion of the civilian version of the reality TV show back in 2000 – tied the knot with Laura Sherriff today (09.02.18) at Cheshire’s Peckforton Castle in front of 200 of the couple’s friends and family.
The DIY expert and his new wife asked their guests not to buy them any presents in celebration of their new relationship status and, instead, donate money to Helen and Douglas House, a hospice that provided care to Laura’s brother when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour shortly after birth and offered support to her family.
Laura will also be auctioning her wedding dress to raise funds for the hospice.
Their Just Giving page has already surpassed the target and has raised £3,080.00 for the cause https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/inlovingmemoryofdanny.
This isn’t the first time Craig has done his bit for charity as he famously gave away his ‘Big Brother’ winnings to help a family friend pay for her medical treatment.
The couple will now jet off to Colorado to enjoy a snowboarding break before they’ll return to Liverpool to continue their dream property build in Prescot.
They’re also working towards the launch of their latest project, Mr and Mrs DIY, which will see the couple share their tips and hacks on household and garden jobs.
The pair are hoping to encourage more people – men and women – to pick up the tools.

Gabby Allen doesn’t want Marcel Somerville to choose her engagement ring

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabby Allen doesn’t want Marcel Somerville to choose her engagement ring himself.
The ‘Love Island’ star admits she can “see a future” with her 32-year-old boyfriend and while they’ve joked about him popping the question she’s worried about his “dodgy” taste in jewellery.
She said: “I know that he’s in it for the long haul. I’ve had boyfriends before but I’ve never seen it lasting. But with Marce, I can definitely see a future.
“We joke about getting engaged and married.
“The other day I told him Paris Hilton has a £2 million engagement ring and joked that I expected the same. I’ve said I want a yellow diamond.
“But when he actually does go ring shopping he might need to take a friend with him – he wears some dodgy jewellery himself and I don’t want any of that.”
But the 25-year-old beauty is in no hurry to get married yet and even thinks it’s “too soon” to move in with the Blazin’ Squad star.
She told Closer magazine: “We’ve only been together for six months. It would be too soon to move in together. We’re not going to jump into marriage and babies right away just because we might get paid to have a glitzy wedding.”
However, Gabby admitted she definitely wants to have children with Marcel when the time is right.
She said: “We definitely want children. We know what we want in the future but I’ve still got a lot I want to do so I’m not ready to pop out any kids soon.
“I’m a proper traveller and I want to see some more of the world. Marce will come with me as he loves travelling too.”
