Taron Egerton doesn’t want to play James Bond: I made my name in a spy-thriller franchise, it holds less appeal

OHMYGOSSIP — Taron Egerton doesn’t want to play James Bond. The 29-year-old actor shot to fame as trainee spy Gary ‘Eggsy Unwin’ in ‘Kingsman’ – a role he reprised in sequel ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ – and admitted that’s made the iconic role “less appealing” to him, though he would still be “honoured” to be approached for the franchise.

He said of the possibility of playing Bond: “Because I made my name in a spy-thriller franchise, it holds less appeal. Of course if Barbara Broccoli or whoever might be replacing her called, I would be honoured, but…”

But Taron is a big fan of the Bond films and looked to them for his research on ‘Kingsman‘. He said: “Moore is my favourite Bond. I think we borrowed more from him than any other.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BqDtXsAlPH2/

The ‘Robin Hood’ actor admitted having to diet for his role in ‘Kingsman’ was “hell” and he doesn’t think he could have the discipline to be a full-time action star like ‘Logan’ actor Hugh Jackman’ or ‘Captain America’s Chris Evans. He told the Sunday Telegraph magazine: “The bit I find horrific is not being able to eat. The training I love, always have, always will. Cardio just makes me feel great afterwards. I’ve already been today. But it’s hell when I’m doing Kingsman because I love food for comfort, and beer for socialising and I can’t do that at all. Those guys like Hugh Jackman and Chris Evans, who do it professionally year-round, they don’t eat. They have days when they’re just on chicken and veg.”

Taron has made a number of movies with his ‘Kingsman’ director Matthew Vaughn – who produced his upcoming Sir Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’ – and admitted he feels he owes his career to the filmmaker. He said: “Matthew, he does my f***ing head in!. Yes, I will reluctantly say I love him with every fibre of me. He and I have spent the best part of the last five years together and I will never escape the feeling that I owe him everything, because I do.”

Creed II director Steve Caple Jr has praised Ryan Coogler for his inclusiveness

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Creed II’ director Steve Caple Jr has praised Ryan Coogler for his inclusiveness. While ‘Creed’ filmmaker Ryan stepped back from directing duties for the sequel and took on an executive producer role, he recommended Caple Jr for the job, even though his only previous directing credit was the 2016 indie movie ‘The Land’.

Steve told The Hollywood Reporter: “For Ryan Coogler, who’s a black, young director, to do what he’s done and then also bring up my name in a studio meeting, saying, ‘Y’all should look at Steven Caple Jr.,’ is crazy.”

However, he admitted he was nervous about stepping in to Coogler’s shoes for the sequel. He said: “I think, stepping into this franchise, coming behind some really good filmmakers, you get nervous. At the same time, it was a challenge I wanted to take on.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC1z8KExoME

Both Caple and ‘Rocky IV’ star Dolph Lundgren believe the ‘Creed’ franchise has updated the ‘Rocky’ world for a new audience. Caple said: “It was all coming from a personal place, and that’s what makes ‘Rocky’ movies relatable. For us, it was about making ‘Creed’ talk to our generation, the younger audience.”

Lundgren — who reprises his character, Ivan Drago, in ‘Creed II’ — said: “[‘Creed’] brought an urban component to [‘Rocky’] and a young component that we’re using in this film as well. It treated ‘Rocky’ with reverence and respect, but it brought new blood into it, new music, a new feel.”

David Harbour will join Chris Hemsworth in ‘Dhaka’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Harbour will join Chris Hemsworth in Dhaka. The ‘Stranger Things’ actor has joined the cast of the new action movie directed by Chris Evans’ stunt double. ‘Dhaka’ will mark the directorial debut of Sam Hargrave, a stunt coordinator who has previously worked with the ‘Captain America’ actor.

The project is being produced by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who worked with Chris and Sam when they helmed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and two ‘Captain America’ films. ‘Dhaka‘ has been written by the Russo brothers and tells the story of a world-weary mercenary (Hemsworth) who is hired to rescue the son of a businessman. Harbour will play a fellow mercenary with secret intentions.

Meanwhile, Harbour, 43, is starring in the ‘Hellboy’ reboot – taking over from Ron Perlman, who starred in the Guillermo del Toro movies, and revealed some “prominent nerds” tried to persuade him not to take the role. He said: “I was approached by some very prominent nerds whom I know very well, and I respect their opinions because they’re friends of mine, who were like ‘dude, step away from the ‘Hellboy’. Step away.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Uo_ScsKwTg

The plot in the new movie follows Hellboy as he battles with a medieval evil wizard who is hell-bent on destroying humankind. Milla Jovovich, 42, will star as the Blood Queen and Ian McShane, 75, as Professor Broom – the scientist who adopts the titular demon child – in the Neil Marshall-helmed movie. Harbour also spoke on how he is changing the character from the Perlman adaptation of the comic book character and admitted he has done something “completely different”.

He said to Hollywood Reporter: “[The comics] seem much more macabre to me, they seem much more melancholy, they seem much more primal, more struggle, more angst. And I felt like those other two movies were funnier and brighter and kind of sillier in a way, which was great for what it was. But I thought to approach this material in a different light and to do something completely different than what they had done. This was something that I couldn’t pass up because I love those [Mike] Mignola comics. And the mythos we are in now, I feel like two strains are running. They are making these kind of popcorn-y, somewhat two-dimensional comic book movies and then there is this strain like ‘Logan’ and ‘Deadpool’. That is what I am drawn to in the genre. I would love to do a ‘Hellboy’ where you love him, but you’re also not quite sure about him.”

AJ Pritchard pledges support to Katya Jones and Seann Walsh

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Pritchard has pledged to support his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-stars Katya Jones and Seann Walsh in spite of their kissing controversy. The 23-year-old dancer – who has been paired with the British Paralympic athlete Lauren Steadman during the current series of ‘Strictly’ – has insisted that despite the ongoing furore surrounding Katya and Seann, the celebrities and their professional partners have all remained focused on their routines.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, AJ explained: “When you’re out dancing, you could be anywhere in the world, but it’s only the dance that matters. We all support our fellow dancers and so we don’t really think about anything else that had happened in the week.”

The controversy surrounding Katya and Seann erupted after they were photographed kissing in London following a night out. The duo both subsequently apologised for the incident, but have also faced calls to quit the show.

Meanwhile, AJ – who was romantically linked to Mollie King, his dancer partner on last year’s show – has insisted he wouldn’t really compare his own situation to that of Katya and Seann.
Katya, 29, has been married to fellow professional dancer Neil Jones since 2013, and Seann recently split from his girlfriend Rebecca Humphries.

Asked whether or not he could relate to what Katya and Seann have been going through, AJ – who first appeared on the BBC show in 2016 – said: “I’m going to have to say I don’t relate – my publicity was completely different to theirs.”

Christopher Plummer talks about replacing Kevin Spacey, why he finds marijuana boring and how he’s grown to stop hating The Sound of Music

OHMYGOSSIP —  The 88-year-old actor plays drug dealer Jack Jaconi in upcoming road trip comedy drama *Boundaries, and while he admitted he has smoked weed before, he doesn’t see what all the fuss is about.

Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, the Oscar-winning actor talks about replacing Kevin Spacey, why he finds marijuana boring and how he’s grown to stop hating The Sound of Music. He said: “I stuck to booze, thank you very much. Didn’t have anything to do with the drug world. I tried marijuana once – put me to sleep. I found it so boring!”

The veteran star also revealed he keeps up with internet memes, and has laughed at some that were inspired by his replacing disgraced Kevin Spacey in 2017 crime thriller ‘All the Money in the World’ following sexual misconduct allegations against the latter. Referring to the cancelling of Roseanne Barr’s sitcoms after she made racist remarks on Twitter, he said: “I have heard about these, I always chuckle. The latest one was ‘Roseanne’! Why not bring me in to play ‘Roseanne’ for the next season. I couldn’t believe this. I think it’s hilarious!”

Christopher has also taken the time to reflect on ‘The Sound of Music’, in which he played Captain von Trapp – arguably his most famous role – opposite Dame Julie Andrews and admitted he used to feel frustrated with it seeming to be the only movie fans approached him about. On the subject of being asked to sing songs from the classic 1965 musical, he added: “It did [drive me crazy] for a long time but I’ve made my peace with it. It annoyed the hell out of me at first. I thought, Don’t these people ever see another movie? Is this the only one they’ve ever seen?

“It doesn’t even have to be my movie, I just wanted to take them to some movies they ought to see. But I’m grateful to the film, and to Robert Wise, who’s a great director and a gentleman, and to Julie [Andrews], who’s remained a terrific friend. I must have been miserable to work with at the time because I was furious they wouldn’t let me sing.
“I’d worked on my singing for so long, but in those days, they’d have someone trained who would sing through dubbing. I said, ‘The only reason I did this bloody thing was so I could do a musical on stage on film!'”

Will Ferrell is teaming up with Netflix in order to create a new movie Eurovision

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Ferrell is set to write and star in a new comedy called Eurovision. The 50-year-old actor – who has previously starred in hit comedies such as ‘Step Brothers’ and ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ – is teaming up with Netflix in order to create a new movie based around the annual singing contest, which was created in 1956, Attitude.co.uk mediates.

Plans for the film are still in the early stages, and details about the plot and Will’s role have not yet emerged. However, it has been confirmed that Will is set to produce the project through his Gary Sanchez company, and he is penning the script in partnership with Andrew Steele.

Despite being one of the world’s best known comedy actors, Will was actually attracted to the idea of working a regular job during his youth. But, ultimately, Will’s passion for writing led him to pursue a career in the movie business. He shared: “The stereotype you made fun of as a kid was ‘the job in the bank’. But to me that always sounded all right. Nine to five and you know where you’re going. You get a decent salary and vacations and get to carry a briefcase. I was fine with that idea. But then I also realised at a young age that I loved writing. I was doing little comedy bits. I never had the guts to realise I might be a performer. But by the time I graduated college [he studied sports journalism] I knew that thought would eat away at me if I didn’t give it a shot. Thank God with the success I’ve had I’ve been able to have stability, too. When I’m at home with the family now it is a blissfully boring existence.”

Steven Spielberg has become the first director to gross more than $10 billion at the box office

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Spielberg has become the first director to gross more than $10 billion at the box office. The award-winning movie-maker – who has helmed hits such as ‘Jaws’, ‘Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ – has won the race to the landmark figure.

By contrast, his closest rivals – Peter Jackson, Michael Bay and James Cameron – are all currently around the $6 billion figure. Box Office Mojo reports that Spielberg’s latest effort, ‘Ready Player One’ – which stars Olivia Cooke and Tye Sheridan – has taken the director across the monetary threshold. So far, the movie had made $114 million, thereby making it the 17th most successful of Spielberg’s legendary career.

Despite the remarkable success he’s enjoyed over the years, Spielberg previously admitted that he never reflects on his past achievements. The 71-year-old director explained that although he’s proud of what he’s accomplished during his time in Hollywood, he’s always thinking about his next project.

He shared: “I don’t look back. I make movies and I work a lot and I look forward all the time. I don’t often look back.”

Spielberg also revealed that the success of ‘Jaws’ marked a major turning point in his career, as it gave him a freedom to make the films he felt passionate about. He said: “The experience gave me complete freedom for the rest of my career. The amount of success the film enjoyed just gave me final cut, gave me the chance to tell my own stories.”

Halle Berry to star in Jagged Edge remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Halle Berry is set to star in a remake of ‘Jagged Edge’. The 51-year-old actress will take on the leading role in the courtroom thriller, which is a remake of the 1985 movie starring Glenn Close and Jeff Bridges.

Producers Matti Leshem and Doug Belgrad are in the early stages of developing the project for Sony Pictures, according to Deadline. In the original movie, Bridges’ character, a wealthy publisher, was accused of brutally murdering his wife at their remote beach house. He hired Close’s lawyer character to defend him and the pair embarked on a passionate affair.

Robert Loggia was nominated for an Oscar for his role as a private detective in the movie.

Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Hale is “livid” with her former manager, who has been accused of sexual abuse. The actress said she was “saddened” at first by allegations against her ex-manager Vincent Cirrincione and is now angry that he used his previous professional relationship with her “to lure and manipulate innocent women”.

She wrote on Instagram: “Yesterday I was saddened by the alligations against my former manager, Vincent Cirrincione, but today I’m sick after reading the horrifying detailed accounts of his abuse towards 9 women. I’m livid that he used me, and the role model he helped me become, to lure and manipulate innocent, vulnerable women of color for his predatory actions. I’m deeply hurt and I want these woman and countless others to know I see you. I hear you. You matter. I will fight for you (sic).

Nine minority women have accused the Hollywood manager of sexual harassment and claim he made unwanted sexual advances toward them over a period of two decades.

However, he denied any wrongdoing in a statement to the Washington Post, claiming that all relationships were consensual.

He said: “We live in a time where men are being confronted with a very real opportunity to take responsibility for their actions. I support this movement wholeheartedly. I have had female clients and employees my entire career in this industry. I have built a reputation for advancing the careers of women of colour. I have had affairs while in committed relationships, ones I am now ashamed to say are coming to light and shading my past and my reputation. I can say without a doubt that I have never used favours, sexual or otherwise, as a reason for managing anyone. I want to make it clear that not one of those relationships were anything but consensual.

“I take responsibility for my part in the situation and I am not here to diminish anyone’s feelings or experiences. I apologise to these women, my past and present partner, my clients and employees for the pain this is bringing them. I was under the impression I was living my life as a supportive man to women. It is with a heavy heart that I see now I was wrong (sic).”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Vikander and Riley Keough are to co-star in new murder mystery ‘The Earthquake Bird’. The ‘Tomb Raider’ star and Riley – the granddaughter of Elvis Presley – are finalising deals to appear as friends Lucy and Lily in the thriller, which will be adapted from Susanna Jones’ award-winning novel set in Japan, Female first mediates.

‘The Earthquake Bird’ sees Lucy arrested by Tokyo police for the murder of her friend and fellow ex-pat Lily. As she recalls the events leading up to Lily’s disappearance, a love triangle is revealed between the two women and Lucy’s Japanese photographer boyfriend. No actor has yet been cast for that role.
The movie is being scripted and directed by Wash Westmoreland (52), who helmed Julianne Moore (57) in her Oscar-winning role in ‘Still Alice’.

The director has links to the subject matter as he spent a year studying in Japan around the time the book is set. Shooting is due to begin in May in Tokyo and Sado Island. ‘The Earthquake Bird’ adaptation was originally started at Amazon Studios but has now moved to Netflix.

Alicia Vikander (29) has just appeared as female spy and action heroine Lara Croft in the new ‘Tomb Raider’ movie. Riley Keough (28) starred alongside Channing Tatum, Adam Driver and Daniel Craig in crime caper ‘Logan Lucky’ last year. Alicia recently told how she was left “crippled” by the stunts on ‘Tomb Raider’.

The ‘Ex Machina’ star threw herself into the stunt work as adventurer Lara and she initially found her rigorous training unbearably painful. She said: “At first it hurts. Darren Aronofsky says Jennifer Lawrence was ’emotionally overwhelmed’ making Mother! Lawrence: I never lose myself in a movie. This is the only time I’ve lost myself

OHMYGOSSIP — Darren Aronofsky (49) claims Jennifer Lawrence (27) became “emotionally overwhelmed” on the set of ‘Mother!’. Aronofsky – who helmed the divisive drama movie – has rubbished suggestions that he was responsible for Jennifer tearing her diaphragm on the set of the film, and has instead insisted that her particular acting style led to the painful injury, Mail Online mediates.

He shared: “I wasn’t pushing Jennifer on that day. I was pulling her back, [encouraging her] to remember that we were just making a movie…”

Despite this, Darren – who dated Jennifer from September 2016 until October 2017 – admitted he isn’t suited to working with method actors. Speaking to The Economist Radio, he explained: “I don’t work well with method actors, I work best with actors who basically when you say cut it’s over and the emotion is gone and when I say action they’re able to go deep into it. But part of acting is finding emotions and finding places to go that are extreme because that’s the stories we tell.”

He also insisted that the incident with Jennifer was unlike anything he’d previously experience on a movie set. Darren Aronofsky said: “I’ve never had that situation where an actor was so emotionally … um … overwhelmed by the material that they lost control and hurt themselves.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence previously admitted that she was entirely responsible for the injury. During an interview in 2017, she explained: “People thought I was beaten up. I want to just clear it up that I did it to myself. It was my own doing.”

The 27-year-old star also insisted it was the only time she’d ever truly “lost” herself on set. She said: “I never lose myself in a movie. This is the only time I’ve lost myself. I couldn’t tell my body that none of it was real. I kept on hyperventilating.”

But then after I finished the scene I felt empowered.”

Matt LeBlanc thinks Top Gear can continue for another 40 years: Why not? It’s a timeless show

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt LeBlanc thinks ‘Top Gear’ has the potential to remain on screen for another 40 years. The popular motoring show – which was originally fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond – has been rocked with numerous issues over the past few years, but the former ‘Friends’ star is convinced the programme is strong enough to survive another two decades.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he said when asked if the show – which has been on air for 41 years – could last another 40: “Why not? It’s a timeless show. I wonder what they’ll be covering in 41 years? If we’re making flying cars, I’m sure ‘Top Gear’ will be talking about that.

“It’s a very strong brand. There will always be a place for it because human beings have a strong sense of independence, and the car gives you that. You start the car on your driveway and suddenly you’re the master of your own destiny. That’s a very human instinct. That’s why I’m not a fan of autonomous cars. I can see the point of them if you’ve had too much to drink at the pub and need a lift home. But I don’t think that’s what they’re designed for!”

The new instalment of the car show will hit screens on February 25 at 8pm on BBC Two as Matt and his co-stars Chris Harris and Rory Reid attempt to build the world’s fastest tractor, navigate America’s Wild West in shiny new V8 sports cars and attempt to land a NASA research plane.

Matt’s return won’t come as too much of a surprise to fans as the show’s boss Patrick Holland said last year that he loved the trio working together. He said at the time: “The audience appreciation scores are far bigger than they were last year. The audience is much younger. It has had a real growth in under 34s and under 16s. The doubt at the beginning, the fear when a show comes back is will the audience grow to like this new presenting combo? And we are starting again this year. And I think they really have and Chris and Rory have grown and Matt has made it his own show. We are turning over a new leaf, I think Chris and Rory have been fantastic, I think Matt has really been terrific on the films. I think he really started to enjoy the studios more and more.”

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Shirley Ballas wants a regular position on Loose Women

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas wants a regular position on ‘Loose Women’. The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge was a guest panellist on the chat show last month after she proved a huge hit with viewers last year when she was invited to discuss her role on the ballroom and latin show, and now she’d love to land a permanent slot on the programme because she really enjoys sharing her opinions with the nation, The Sun mediates.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I’d love to do the show five days a week, Saturdays and Sundays and holidays. I loved it. Everybody gets to have their fair and honest opinions – you don’t have to agree with everyone, but just be sensible about what you’re saying. I really enjoyed that.”

And it looks like her dream may come true as bosses really enjoyed having on the show and liked how open she was when she was discussing her life experiences. A source said recently: “No one really knew Shirley in the UK before she joined ‘Strictly…’ but she has won a place in the nation’s heart. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind and has led a really interesting life that people know very little about. If she enjoys her time on the programme, bosses are really keen for her to return on a regular basis.”

Meanwhile, the 57-year-old legendary dancer received mixed reviews when she claimed the head judge position on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last year – taking over from fan favourite Len Goodman – and, although she’d love to reclaim her seat this year, she doesn’t know if bosses will want her back because of the backlash she initially got.

She said: “I’ve had the most spectacular time. There have been some things to get used to like Twitter and the press. But generally I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute of being on the show. As of yet, nothing has been decided. So we will wait and see… I’m quite a perfectionist. When I first came on and I had to judge the first show, it was terrifying. I take my job extremely seriously. You are totally under scrutiny. I go from week to week. I’m married to what I do. I think I did pretty good. I would probably give myself ‘seven’. In anything you do there is room for improvement.”

Kathy Bates and Kim Dickens join Highwaymen movie – ‘Highwaymen’ will be based around legendary Texas Rangers Frank Hamer and Manny Gault

OHMYGOSSIP — Kathy Bates and Kim Dickens have joined the cast of ‘Highwaymen’. The 69-year-old ‘American Horror Story’ star and the 52-year-old actress – who is best known for her role in ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ – have both been confirmed as joining Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson in the new Netflix movie, msn.com mediates.

The casting announcement, which was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, revealed that John Carroll Lynch, Thomas Mann and William Sadler are also on board for the crime drama. Despite joining the cast, it has not been announced what roles each of the new cast members will be playing.

‘Highwaymen’ will be based around legendary Texas Rangers Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, who hunted down the infamous Depression-era outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and put an end to their violent robbery spree.

Hancock, who directed ‘The Founder’, ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ and ‘The Blind Side’, is on board to helm ‘Highwaymen’ and Deadline reports that the director has rewritten a script by John Fusco.

Unlike the 1967 multi-award winning Arthur Penn movie ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, starring Warren Beatty, 80, and Faye Dunaway, 77, ‘Highwaymen’ will focus on the good guys.

Originally, the film – which has been in the pipeline for years with the rights owned by Universal Pictures – was set to star the late Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
But now, Netflix has replaced them with Costner and Harrelson if it can acquire the rights.

The 63-year-old ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ actor is to play lawman Hamer, a Texas Ranger who survived 100 gunfights and killed 53 people, with Harrelson, 56, starring as Gault.

The streaming giant has planned a late 2018 release following production in Louisiana.
