Andrew Scott got into character for Steel Country by shopping at Walmart

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Scott got into character for his ‘Steel Country’ role by shopping at Walmart.
The 42-year-old actor portrays trucker Donald Devlin in the new Simon Fellows film – which tells the story of a young boy going missing in a “unique” American town – and revealed he embodied the blue-collar role by following a bad lifestyle and living on a low budget.
Speaking on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’, Andrew said: “We shot it in Griffin in Georgia which is a unique place, diplomatically put.
“When I’ve travelled to work before, it hasn’t been to small town mid America and it’s very bleak. A lot of people feel very disenfranchised over there.
“I tried to immerse myself into it. I basically just ate really bad food and didn’t go to the gym for all the time I was there. It was amazing! Such a sacrifice.
“I bought all of the clothes from Walmart and everything. And I was like make sure we don’t buy anything over five dollars. Because that’s how these guys would have been. But that doesn’t mean that that they haven’t got very full and rich things going on in their head. It’s very moving.”
The ‘1917’ actor appears in the film alongside Denise Gough, Catherine Dyer, Jason Davis and Bronagh Waugh.
The handsome star also thought it was very ironic that his kind character shared a first name with President Donald Trump, who was coming into power during the time of filming.
He said: “He’s called Donald, this character. We shot at it at a time when the other Donald was taking place. The most powerful man in the world and the most disenfranchised man in America.
“It’s just interesting that two people with the same name can live in very different worlds!”

Tom Hanks’ News of the World moved to Universal Studios

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks’ ‘News of the World’ will be the first project to move to a new studio after Disney’s acquisition of Fox.
Following the $71.3 billion dollar merger, Fox 2000 – which produced films such as ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ ‘Life of Pi’ and ‘The Heat’ – has been retired by Disney.
The 62-year-old actor’s latest project – which will see him reunited with ‘Captain Phillips’ director Paul Greengrass – has been moved over to Universal Pictures.
The upcoming adaptation of the best-selling novel by Paulette Jiles will see Hanks play Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, a veteran who travels from town to town, reading the latest newspaper to the largely illiterate locals.
The movie will centre on the friendship between Kidd and a 10-year-old girl he’s tasked with bringing to her relatives in San Antonio, after she spent her childhood living with the Kiowa Indian tribe after she was kidnapped and her family was murdered.
The picture will be penned by Luke Davies and, according to the novel’s official synopsis, the pair’s 400-mile journey “proves difficult and at times dangerous”.
It states: “Johanna has forgotten the English language, tries to escape at every opportunity, throws away her shoes, and refuses to act civilised. Yet as the miles pass, the two lonely survivors tentatively begin to trust each other, forging a bond that marks the difference between life and death in this treacherous land.”
Hanks recently starred alongside Meryl Streep as newspaper editor Ben Bradlee in ‘The Post’ and will next feature in animated sequel ‘Toy Story 4’.
It will be the last time that Hanks will voice the beloved character Woody after first bringing the cowboy doll to life in the original 1995 Disney Pixar movie.

Tina O’Brien wouldn’t forgive infidelity like Corrie’ Sarah

OHMYGOSSIP — Tina O’Brien would kick her partner out if he had a baby with another woman – unlike her ‘Coronation Street’ character’s actions.
The 35-year-old star says she “definitely wouldn’t be as reasonable” as her ‘Corrie’ alter-ego Sarah Platt, who is still with Gary Windass (Mikey North) despite him fathering a child, Zack, with Nicola Rubinstein (Nicola Thorp), insisting she is a “bit more forgiving than she should be”.
Tina – who has son Beau, four, with Adam Crofts – said: “Sarah assumes that Gary’s heart is in the right place and maybe she overlooks things that she shouldn’t. I definitely wouldn’t be as reasonable in her shoes.
“I’d be like, ‘Sorry? You had a baby with another person? Bye bye!’
“But she thinks they’re a good team and she knows that he loves her and wants to be with her, so she’s a bit more forgiving than she should be.”
But Tina has hinted Sarah and Gary’s relationship may not last too much longer after his latest betrayal, going behind her back and getting into debt with a loan shark, which she says has put another “hole in their relationship”.
She said: “Sarah is so shocked. She had absolutely no idea what was going on. Gary very convincingly told her that the reason he had some money was that he got paid for a job in advance and I don’t think she had any reason to doubt him. She believed the days of him lying to her were over.
“There’s been a lot of financial pressure on them recently, but she trusted him.
“A relationship is very much built on trust and communication.
“Sarah desperately wants that from Gary and I can understand why he’s keeping this from her, but I think every time he holds back it knocks another hole in their relationship really. I don’t know how much more of this she can take.
“It remains to be seen whether they can get through this.”
And Tina is “not sure” whether Gary and Sarah will be able to get over their issues.
She added: “It’s a question of whether the relationship can survive much longer when there’s such a lack of communication. She’s quite a tolerant partner, but she’s sick of the lies.
“In the past I would have said they could have got over this, but this time I’m not sure.
“At this point, although Sarah still loves him, she’s very doubtful whether they have a future together.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Macdonald thinks ‘The Victim’ will be co-star James Harkness’ breakout role.
The 43-year-old actress thinks the 30-year-old actor is one to watch and believes the new BBC drama will catapult him to stardom.
Kelly appeared on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on BBC Radio 2, she said: “He [James] is amazing and I think he’s going to be someone to watch. I really do.
“He’s got the charisma and the looks and he’s hilarious as well. He’s really funny.
“There were very serious days filming, but yeah, really good people!”
In the show – which also stars John Hannah, Karla Crome, John Scougall, Isis Hainsworth and Andrew Rothney – Kelly portrays nurse Anna Dean who is haunted by the death of her nine-year-old son Liam who was tortured and murdered 15 years ago.
But the brunette beauty – who first shot to fame when she portrayed Diane in ‘Trainspotting’ in 1996 – doesn’t need to “work herself up” for emotional scenes anymore as she has been acting for so long.
She said: “‘Trainspotting’ was a number of years ago so I’ve got a bit of experience now.
“I don’t wind myself up for big emotional scenes as I did maybe in my 20s and 30s.
“It’s all in there and I am able to trust that now.”
The actress will also appear in new BBC and Netflix drama ‘Giri/Haji’, and once injured her arm when she was holding a gun during filming.
She said: “It means ‘Duty/Shame’ in Japanese. It’s a Japanese crime story that sort of drips into London and my character is London based.
“I worked with all these incredible Japanese actors it was really exciting.
“I had a very achy right arm one week-end because I spent the previous day holding a gun up the entire day and it really hurt!”

Annabelle Comes Home will have comedy moments

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Annabelle Comes Home’ director Gary Dauberman has teased that the upcoming horror will have more comedy than the previous movies.
Dauberman will make his directorial debut on the supernatural flick having previously penned the two previous ‘Annabelle’ films and Conjuring Universe movie ‘The Nun’, and the filmmaker admits he’s been “playing around” with moments of comic relief in the tale about the demonic doll.
Speaking to ComicBook.com during an ‘Annabelle Comes Home’ set visit, he said: “I’m not a huge fan of horror comedies, but I love comedy in my horror – if that makes sense. I like moments of levity, so I’m leaning into that a little bit more on certain moments. “Because I find if we hit the moments where people laugh, and then they get scared right away … I like trying to land that. I’ve been playing around with that a little bit more.”
The upcoming film will see Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren and Mckenna Grace as the couple’s daughter Judy, who becomes the main target of the possessed toy along with her two babysitters.
Dauberman – who has also written ‘Annabelle Comes Home’ – previously said the doll will “wreak havoc” at the Warrens’ family home as she spends the night with babysitter Mary Ellen (Madison Iseman) and her best friend Daniela (Katie Sarife) and it is those teenage characters who drive the narrative.
He said: “That just fits the girls too because they’re just so upbeat. It’s that sort of the teenagers alone in the house thing we’re trying to capture too.”

David Walliams set for X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams is to take part in ‘The X Factor’.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge is keen to show off his singing talents in the upcoming celebrity version of the singing contest and his friend, showrunner Simon Cowell, thinks he’ll be “amazing”.
Simon said: “I think David [Walliams] might enter, seriously, that would be amazing.”
The 59-year-old music mogul is keen to see the stars who take part in the show make a genuine bid for chart success, following in the footsteps of former ‘Neighbours’ co-stars Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, and ‘Soldier, Soldier’ actors Robson Green and Jerome Flynn.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “In the same way Pete Waterman made Kylie and Jason musical stars, and what I did with Robson and Jerome, I’d like to think through the process we’ll find someone who can sell records rather than just doing the show as a stunt.”
There will be no public auditions for the show and Simon admitted changing the format of ‘The X Factor’ has given him a “buzz”.
He added: “I’m excited again because my focus is who will be on the show.”
The talent show judge sang the praises of producer Pete Waterman, admitting he had “followed him around like a dog for two years” to learn as much as he could from the celebrated hitmaker.
He said: “One day he said to me, ‘Why are you following me around?’ and I said, ‘Because I want to learn from you, I think you’re great.’ That was a turning point in my life. He was like a mentor.”
Simon previously admitted he hopes last year’s judges – Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field – will be back for the new show.
He said: “I think and hope the panel will be the same. I’m literally speaking to Robbie tonight because he’s been busy, I’ve been filming, so I’ll have more news again on that soon.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Collins wishes people wouldn’t label her as a “soap actress”.
The former ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has appeared in the two shows for a combination of 13 years – finds it “very frustrating” that people always link her to the serial drama shows.
In response to a tweet about an upcoming World Book Night event she is attending, 57-year-old Michelle – who has also appeared in ‘Daylight Robbery’, ‘Two Thousand Acres of Sky’ and an episode of ‘Doctor Who’, among other programmes – wrote: “Looking forward to this but I wish people would not label me a soap actress it’s very frustrating indeed !! “One is not actually trying to upset the source of one’s bread and butter.”

“I say something about ‘my Final Chase’ and Twitter gets hysterical and thinks I’m leaving.
