Nitin Ganatra: Masood is not finished on EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Nitin Ganatra “misses” being in ‘EastEnders’ and wants Masood Ahmed to return to Albert Square to run the Queen Vic.
The 51-year-old actor’s character departed Walford in February, but just two months on the star admits he would love to get his teeth into a “big storyline” and hopes the BBC One soap’s next producer will “seduce” him into returning to the East End.
He said: “I love playing Masood and the door was left open.
“I miss playing that character, so I’m waiting for the next producer to come along and seduce me back.
“I don’t think we’re finished with that character. He is yet to find his wings. I want him to have big storylines, we never really did that. I want Masood to own the Vic.”
Nitin believes the soap is going from strength to strength at the moment, and credits new show boss Kate Oates and co with getting the show “back on its feet” following a period of “struggle”.
He added to the Daily Star newspaper: “The show is back on its feet. It struggled for a while but it’s back now.”
While Danny Dyer, who plays current Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, may have something to say about Nitin’s aim to take on the reins of the fictional boozer, he also recently admitted the show had gone through “a tough couple of years”.
After scooping the Serial Drama Performance prize at the National Television Awards in January, he said: “It’s a creative place, it’s a difficult place to work, we’ve had a tough couple of years.
“We’re coming out of the end of it now.
“Kate Oates has come in and she’s great. She knows her game.
“I’m very blessed. I’m earning a living, feeding my kids.”

Richard Madden nearly quit acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madden almost quit acting after making ‘Bodyguard’.
The 32-year-old actor found shooting the drama series – in which he played police protection officer David Budd – exhausting and it left him in an “unhappy place”, so he needed to take some time out to remember why he was passionate about his career.
He said: “It really took it out of me. I didn’t get to see my friends, my family, do anything. It’s a relentless job, it’s an unhappy place.
“At the end of filming I had just gone, ‘What am I doing this for? I’m supposed to be doing the thing I love.’
“I had to take a break for a couple of months and get myself back.
“And after I did get myself back a bit in my head, then you’re like, ‘OK.’ ”
But Richard realised the struggle had been worth it when he saw the first edits of the show.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: “Then seeing the rough cuts coming through of it, I was like, ‘This is something I’m really proud of actually.’ ”
‘Bodyguard’ – which also starred Keeley Hawes – was initially planned to be a one-off drama, but following its huge success, a second season was commissioned and Richard recently teased that producers are planning to “create something different” although his “fascinating” character will still be “part of the story”.
He said: “We hadn’t intended to make a second one but the character is so fascinating.
“We want to create something different and do justice to season one. I will be part of the story. I want it to be as exciting as season one and to show something new.”

Vicky Mcclure dementia documentary to get spin-off

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure’s dementia documentary is expected to get a spin-off series.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actress – whose grandmother Iris passed away in 2015 after suffering from the debilitating disease – has brought together singers who all have some form of the condition for the two-part ‘My Dementia Choir’ and producers are already so proud of the show, they are looking for ways to expand the programme.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “There hasn’t been this kind of confidence surrounding a BBC documentary since the last David Attenborough nature show.
“Everyone who’s seen it, including those at the very top, have been blown away by how emotional it is and left feeling they want more.
“The Beeb is already talking about a spin-off fronted by Vicky, before this show has even aired.”
The proposed spin-off would examine how dementia sufferers can be helped by better funding, more research and technology.
The documentary is expected to air on BBC1 around the ‘Line of Duty’ finale.
BBC Director-General Lord Tony Hall previously said of ‘My Dementia Choir’: “It’s a really moving piece of television. It’s coming soon, please watch it.”
Vicky previously promised the documentary – which looks at the scientifically-supported relationship between dementia and music – would tell a “beautiful story”.
She said: “This project is an education piece and a beautiful story.
“I hope someone might get something from it. It might make someone’s life easier, people might realise how powerful music is. My nana is going to leave a legacy now and I am really proud of her for that.”

Jon Watts in talks to direct Michael B. Jordan in Methuselah

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Watts is in talks to direct Michael B. Jordan in ‘Methuselah’.
The 37-year-old filmmaker has entered negotiations with Warner Bros. to “re-develop” and helm the film based on the Biblical story of Methuselah – the Man of the Javelin – who lives to be hundreds of years old without showing the physical signs of ageing, according to Deadline.
The ‘Creed’ star will produce through his Outlier Society production company along with Heyday’s David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford.
The movie has been pitched as an “elevated genre” and will focus on the skills accumulated by the lead character throughout his existence and will be penned by Arash Amel and Zach Dean.
The project has been in development by Warner for years and in 2017 it was reported that director Jerry Bruckheimer would helm the project with Tom Cruise as the lead, while Will Smith has also previously been attached to the project.
Jon is best known for his work on Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’- which has Tom Holland playing the central role of Peter Parker – and is currently in post-production on its sequel ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ earned $880.2 million internationally at the box office worldwide and also stars the likes of Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Robert Downey Jr.
Jon previously hinted that the highly anticipated sequel could feature the superhero’s ‘spider-sense’.
The director said: “The idea was, again, just you want to make this movie be less about things you’ve already seen before, and you’ve definitely already seen a spider sense sequence done extremely well in Marc Webb’s and Sam Raimi’s movies.
“It could be something that develops over time or we can do it in a different way. It’s something that seemed like maybe there’s a cool thing to do with that eventually, but let’s not crowd this movie with something we’ve already seen before.”

Russo brothers ask fans not to spoil Avengers: Endgame

OHMYGOSSIP — Anthony and Joe Russo have urged fans not to spoil the ending of ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
The acclaimed directing duo – who helmed ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ -penned a letter to audiences asking them not to reveal any details of the highly-anticipated film to others ahead of its release in theatres on April 26.
The filmmakers posted the letter on Disney’s official Instagram account and began the emotional message by insisting that Marvel has the “greatest fans in the world” who have “invested so deeply” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its characters.
The pair said: “To the greatest fans in the world. This is it. This is the end. The end of an unprecedented narrative mosaic spanning eleven years and eleven franchises.
“For all of you who have been on this journey with us since the very beginning, sharing every high and low with your family, your friends, your classmates, your co-workers.
“Investing so deeply in every character and storyline. Laughing. Cheering. Shedding tears. Giving so freely of your thoughts and emotions in spirited dialogue, theories, fan art and fan fiction.”
The letter went on to explain that the directors have “worked tirelessly” to come up with a surprising end to phase three of the MCU and requested that as so many fans have given their ” time, hearts, and souls” to the franchise, “please don’t spoil it for others”.
They continued: “Please know that the two of us, along with everyone involved in ‘Endgame’, have worked tirelessly for the last three years with the sole intention of delivering a surprising and emotionally powerful conclusion to the Infinity Saga.
“Because so many of you have invested your time, your hearts, and your souls into these stories, we’re once again asking for you help.
“When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you.”

Prue Leith asked Sandi Toksvig’s wife for book sex scene advice

OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith asked Sandi Toksvig’s wife for lesbian sex scene tips for her new book.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge turned to the show’s co-host’s partner Debbie to help as a consultant on the racy scenes featured in her latest novel ‘The Lost Son’, and has thanked her for having “approved my chapters on a lesbian love affair”.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Prue joked in the acknowledgements: “Looking at the list you could be forgiven for thinking that I knew very little about anything.
“But at least the story is my own, and I know it’s the better for the help of my friends.”
It’s said that one of the saucy extracts includes a detailed shower scene with two characters soaping each other up, before drying each other “feverishly”.
As the narrator, the 79-year-old author describes it as “the sexiest thing they had done”, and it appears Sandi’s psychotherapist wife provided some insight into the raunchy moments.
The loved-up couple joined in a civil partnership back in 2007, and they later renewed their vows on March 29, 2014 – which was the day same-sex marriage was legalised in England and Wales.
In December that year, their civil partnership was turned into a marriage.
Prue previously revealed the awkward moment she accidentally stabbed a colleague in his leg – but she initially feared it was his “manhood”.
She recently explained: “I once thought I’d stabbed a fellow chef in the manhood.
“I was very pregnant and quite unbalanced, and I slipped and fell with a knife in my hand and blood poured out of his upper thigh.”

Danny Boyle to reunite with Irvine Welsh on Alan McGee biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Boyle is set to reunite with Irvine Welsh on a biopic about Alan McGee.
The 62-year-old director – who helmed the 1996 cult classic ‘Trainspotting’, which was based on the writer’s novel – will work with the author to bring the Creation Records boss’ story to life on the big screen, serving as executive producer on the project.
Irvine, 60, has written the screenplay based on Alan’s book ‘The Creation Records Story: Riots, Raves and Running a Label’ with his partner Dean Cavanagh, while Nick Moran is on board to direct.
The movie will tell the story of the record label owner as he signs the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine and Teenage Fanclub.
‘Trainspotting’ star Ewen Bremner – who portrayed Spud – will play McGee.
The cast will also include Jason Flemyng – who starred alongside Nick in the hit 1998 Guy Ritchie crime thriller ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ – Rupert Everett and Suki Waterhouse.
However, it’s not yet clear who will portray the iconic musicians, including Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher or Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie.
In a statement, the ‘Filth’ author admitted he couldn’t be happier to be writing the movie.
He said: “I’ve been lucky to work with both Danny and Nick over the years and to have the two of them together on this project, along with Ewen, feels like a lottery win.”
And Nick added: “Working as a team with Danny on this film is a dream… The last time him and Irvine worked together they changed the world of cinema. Who wouldn’t be excited to be part of that team!”
McGee is best known for co-founding and running the independent Creation Records label from 1983 to 1999.
However financial problems led to him selling his company and personal problems led to addiction struggles.
Shooting will begin in London next month.

Sarah Paulson struggled to prepare for ‘Glass’ role

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Paulson found it difficult to prepare for her role in ‘Glass’.
The 44-year-old actress plays Dr. Ellie Staple, a psychiatrist specialising in delusions of grandeur, in the M. Night Shyamalan superhero movie – which is a sequel to ‘Unbreakable’ and ‘Split’ – struggled to find someone she could study to research her role so wanted to take advice from Betty Buckley, who plays Dr. Karen Fletcher in ‘Split’.
When asked how she prepared for her role in an interview with Comingsoon.net, she said: “I don’t really think there is a… I mean, when I was talking to Night about it, and when I was working on the script, I was like, I wonder if there’s someone I could… the person I wanted to talk to the most was Betty Buckley, actually, because of her experience on ‘Split’.
“And I was taking the psychiatrist baton from her to this movie, but there aren’t a lot of therapists and people in the field whose specialty are people who believe they’re superheroes. So there wasn’t a ton of research to dig into in that regard.”
The ‘American Horror Story’ star went on to explain that in order to prepare for her alter-ego she immersed herself in the “M. Night Shyamalan universe” and admitted she was already a “big fan” of the director’s work.
She continued: “What I did was try to get myself as well versed in the M. Night Shyamalan universe, if I could, which is very easy to do, because there are many movies to watch.
“And of course, with this movie, there are two movies to watch that directly pertained and informed this movie.
“So I watched those movies multiple times, but the truth is, I had seen both of those movies in the theatre, including ‘Unbreakable’ when it came out all those years ago.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge working on Bond 25 script

OHMYGOSSIP — Phoebe Waller-Bridge is working on the script for Bond 25.
The 33-year-old actress and writer – best known for creating and starring in BBC Three’s ‘Fleabag’ as well as producing and writing ‘Killing Eve’ – has been drafted in to help with the script for the upcoming Bond movie at the special request of Bond himself, Daniel Craig. Craig asked for Waller-Bridge to be a part of the team after being impressed by her work on ‘Fleabag’ and ‘Killing Eve’, The Observer reports.
Whilst in the United States, Waller-Bridge met with Craig to discuss the script, which he felt needed some “polishing”. He wants to introduce more humour into the script and include her offbeat style of writing.
Cary Fukunaga – who previously helmed the 2011 romantic drama ‘Jane Eyre’ and 2015’s ‘Beasts of No Nation’ – was brought in as the new director of ‘Bond 25’ to replace Danny Boyle, who walked away from the project over “creative differences”.
Producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said at the time: “We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure.”
A source had previously claimed that Boyle’s decision to walk away from the movie centred on plans to kill off Bond.
The source said: “There were discussions about killing off Bond in dramatic fashion at the end. It would also leave it open for a twist in the next instalment – either Bond hadn’t died or there could be a ‘Doctor Who’-esque regeneration with a new actor.
“There were clashes over budget and there’s pandemonium among crew with people leaving the production left, right and centre.”
‘Bond 25’ was originally slated for release on February 14, 2020 but it has since been pushed back.

Carl Weathers to star in The Mandalorian

OHMYGOSSIP — Carl Weathers is to star in ‘The Mandalorian’.
The ‘Rocky’ star is to appear in the new ‘Star Wars’ series, which will premiere on Disney+ in November 2019.
Speaking about his character Greif Marda at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, he said: “Of all things I’ve been in, nothing comes close to this! This group of fans is like something out of Star Wars. The character is Greif Marda and he’s a guy that’s running this group of bounty hunters. He’s kind of the head of this guild of bounty hunters. There seems to be a lot of kind of nefarious people … He’s looking for someone to go after a product for a client that’s very valuable … and he finds a bounty hunter named Mandalorian … and he hires this guy and sends him out there and the Mando does what needs to be done.”
Gina Carano will play Kara Dune, a former Rebel shock trooper, whilst Pedro Pascal will star as the titular Mandalorian.
He said of his role: “The Mandalorian is a mysterious, lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Some might say he has questionable moral character, in line with some of our best Westerns, and some good samurai [films.] And he’s a badass.”
Series showrunner Jon Favreau has revealed that the new web television series will take place “five years after ‘Return of the Jedi'” and also confirmed that the “vestiges of the Empire” still exist.

Katherine Jenkins to make major acting debut alongside Johnny Depp

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Jenkins will make her big screen debut alongside Johnny Depp.
The 38-year-old Welsh mezzo-soprano singer has been cast in the World War II drama ‘Minamata’ by her husband Andrew Levitas, in the role of Millie.
The movie sees Johnny portray the photographer W. Eugene Smith, whose images uncovered the pollution which damaged the health of the residents of Minamata in Japan.
The Classic BRIT Award-winner reportedly jetted over to Serbia in February to film her scenes.
And a source has claimed that Katherine – who has three-year-old daughter Aaliyah and son Xander, who celebrates his first birthday this month, with Andrew – is keen to embark on a “new career” in movies.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Katherine is delighted by the role and was really excited to be acting opposite such huge, talented stars.
“She thinks it could potentially be the start of a new career and she would love to do more.
“Producers were impressed with her stints on the small screen previously and think she has amazing stage presence.”
Katherine’s first acting role was in the 2010 festive episode of hit British sc-fi series ‘Doctor Who’, entitled ‘A Christmas Carol’, in which she played Abigail Pettigrew alongside Matt Smith as the titular Time Lord.
Two years ago, the star appeared on London’s West End as Julie Jordan in ‘Carousel’.
Speaking previously about working with ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Johnny on the forthcoming flick, filmmaker Andrew said: “Working with Johnny to give voice to those who have been silently suffering is a responsibility we do not take lightly.
“Much like Eugene Smith in 1971, we could not feel more privileged or humbled to be tasked with the mission of bringing this incredible story to the world.”
The upcoming movie, which could hit cinemas later this year, will tell the story of how Smith was convinced by Life magazine editor Ralph Graves to head to Japan to expose the devastation caused in the coastal community through mercury poisoning.
Katherine was in the same venue as Johnny when they performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho, London, in October, at a star-studded Chuck Berry tribute concert.

Bohemian Rhapsody passes $900 million

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has surpassed $900 million in ticket sales.
The Queen biopic – which starred Rami Malek in the role of the iconic late rocker Freddie Mercury – may have been released way back in October, but it seems the flick isn’t done raking in the millions just yet, as Fox and New Regency have announced it has officially earned more than $900 million worldwide.
According to Variety, the movie – which is the highest-grossing music biopic of all time – has generated $685 million internationally, along with an impressive $216 million at the domestic box office.
Despite having not been shown in cinemas in the US or UK for several weeks, the film is still playing in theatres in China and Japan, where it grossed a total of $114 million.
In the UK, the movie made $71 million, whilst South Korea earned the production a further $76 million.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ uses the legendary catalog of Queen music to chronicle the life of Freddie Mercury and the band’s rise to glory.

The production cost just $50 million to make, meaning Fox have managed to secure a mammoth profit for their venture.
And it isn’t just audiences who have loved the flick, as it turned out to be a hit during awards season, with Rami’s performance as Freddie Mercury bagging him the Best Actor gong at the Oscars, alongside three other awards for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Film Editing.
The movie also won Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture Drama, and another win for Rami as Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama.
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is now Fox’s fourth biggest movie ever after ‘Avatar’, ‘Titanic’, and ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’, and comes as Disney last month announced it was closing its $71 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

Suranne Jones to play Victorian lesbian in new drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Suranne Jones is set to play a Victorian lesbian who “loved sex” in a new historical drama.
The 40-year-old actress will take on the role of land owner Anne Lister in BBC One’s ‘Gentleman Jack’ – which was created by Sally Wainwright – and has said the character “loved women and she loved sex”, though had to be “very careful” with her affairs.
She said: “She absolutely loved sex. She loved women and she loved sex. Talking to our advisor, the pool of women that she could choose from is quite small cause you have to be very careful who you’re talking to.
“The women she had affairs or dalliances or fell in love with, often they went on to marry men for love or to keep up appearances or for money.”
Suranne – who is best known for her role in ‘Doctor Foster’ – suffered from “welts” on her skin after having acted in a corset for long periods of time during the shoot.
She added: “I started to get welts cause underneath all that costume there’s the corset and then we built on top. I had so many clothes on and the summer was very hot.”
‘Gentleman Jack’ tells the story of Anne, who returns to Shibden Hall in West Yorkshire after a period of travel, study and social climbing. Once back home, she engages in a quest to transform her house and business interests, as well as to find herself a wife.
And Suranne says the work of women like Anne has still not been finished.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column, she said: “Even in 2019, women have to behave in a certain way, to a point, to get what they want. We’re getting there and we’re having this great conversation at this time. But I think when people see her (Anne) in a certain lights, it’s because she had to behave that way.”

Russell T Davies: It was a dream come true to cast Emma Thompson

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T Davies says it was a “dream come true” to cast Dame Emma Thompson in ‘Years and Years’.
The 59-year-old actress will play Prime Minister Vivienne Rook, who is described as a mix between the former Mayor of London Boris Johnson and leader of the Brexit Party Nigel Farage, who users her celebrity and social media to gain popularity.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ screenwriter has revealed he took inspiration from real-life politicians for the new series, and said he felt it was important to show the “new breed” of politicians out there who are doing everything they can to be popular.
Speaking at the Radio Times BFI Festival, he said: “She’s using all those tricks that modern politicians do.
“The inspiration was all around me. I think it’s time to take these people seriously, really.
“There’s a whole new breed of politician who uses the media and uses public opinion and social media to become popular and to get votes.”
Davies says the fact that it’s a female politician gives the show a “complete new energy”
He continued: “There’s a bit of (Boris) Johnson in there, there’s a bit of (Nigel) Farage in there, but her being a woman gives it completely a new energy.
“She knows how to talk nonsense, when to tell the truth, she knows how to get a vote, she’s looming over the whole thing.
“Our lives are full of those people now and they’re terrifying and fascinating at the same time.”
Davies is honoured to have Thompson in the leading role.
He added: “Emma Thompson, you don’t just see her on television, and to cast her was a dream come true.”
The ‘Love Actually’ star will be joined by Anne Reid, Russell Tovey and Rory Kinnear in the saga, which is set in the future, something which Davies admitted was challenging with Brexit.
He said: “We are working so fast to get this transmitted. Thank you to BBC for showing it so fast. Episode one is the only one finished so far so we’re racing to get it.
“Because of the world. Because of the state of the world. I’ve been very nimble with it. Because it’s set five years in the future, I kind of refer to anything Brexity in the past.”
The first episode of ‘Years and Years’ will air on BBC One in May.

Jacqueline Jossa sets up performing arts academy

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacqueline Jossa has set up a performing arts academy.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress is looking for “experienced” performing arts teachers to join The Jac Jossa Academy, and she has asked potential employees to send her their CVs via email.
She wrote on Instagram Stories: “If you are based south east London and have experience teaching performing arts and want more info regarding a job.
“Please email info@jasjossaacademy.co.uk. Drama dance singing.
“Please send us an email and attach a cv and a cover photo (sic)”
The 26-year-old actress – who played Lauren Branning in the BBC One soap from 2010 to 2018 – appears to have set up a website for her academy, which is putting on classes for pre-school age groups from three to six years, middle class from five to eight years old, and a top class group from nine to 12+ years.
Jacqueline departed her role as Lauren last year, and admitted afterwards she would be unlikely to join another soap due to her “loyalty” to ‘EastEnders’.
She said: “I don’t think I’d be able to do another soap as my loyalty lies with ‘EastEnders’, but I’d love to do dramas and theatre.”
Last week, she praised the soap for the care she received while she was with the show, admitting she was always “so well looked after” on ‘EastEnders’ and attended therapy when she “needed it” and even when she “didn’t feel [she] needed it”.
She wrote: “When I started EastEnders when I was 17years old. (I am now 26) I was lucky enough to be so well looked after and give the care that come with “fame” and what not. I went to therapy when I needed it and even when I didn’t feel I needed it and turns out, it always comes in handy and doesn’t mean you’ve lost the plot.
It means you are in control of your feelings and owning your stuff! Never be afraid to ask for help or even just go for a chat. You don’t need to be going through a terrible time to need guidance and help. (sic)”
