Kristina Rihanoff backs Nicole Scherzinger for Strictly judge role

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristina Rihanoff has backed Nicole Scherzinger to replace Dame Darcey Bussell on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 41-year-old star – who appeared as a pro on the BBC’s Latin and ballroom show from 2008 to 2015 – believes the former ‘X Factor’ judge’ or ‘La La Land’ choreographer Mandy Moore would be ideal for the vacant spot on the ‘Strictly’ panel, because she thinks the programme needs a change of direction.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “We all loved the ‘La La Land’ movie and the wonderful Mandy Moore, who was choreographer for that movie and she is a judge on ‘So You Think You Can Dance in America’.
“She is in America and she choreographed a lot of wonderful numbers on ‘Strictly’ with us pros. We all loved her. She would be great.
“Or Nicole Scherzinger, she is a beautiful stunning lady who has training in street and commercial dancing. She would be a good judge.”
Kristina would “love” to take on the role herself at some point, but doesn’t feel ready to be in the hot seat just yet.
She added: “Of course I would love to be a judge. But I don’t see myself in that role yet … I think the panel needs another woman and someone from a different background to ballroom dancing, someone from street dancing or a commercial dancing background, who is also a professional dancer and perhaps a judge.”
However, she believes bosses could go for an unknown dancer for the judging role because ‘Strictly’ “makes everybody a household name”.
Reflecting on Darcey’s judging style, she added: “Darcey was … a classy lady and always so very kind and true to herself in her comments. She never said something to make a headline.”
Darcey – who became a full-time judge on the show’s 10th series in 2012 – recently revealed she was stepping away from the panel, which she shared with head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.
The dancer enjoyed “every minute” of her time on the show and insisted she’s not leaving because of “of any upset or disagreement”.
She said in a statement: “It has been a complete privilege for me to be part of ‘Strictly’, working with such a talented team.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my time and will miss everyone from my fellow judges, the presenters, the dancers, the musicians, the entire back stage team, and especially the viewers of the show, who have been so supportive.
“I am not leaving because of any upset or disagreement at all, I am just stepping away to give more focus to my many other commitments in dance, after seven truly wonderful years that I can’t imagine having gone any better.”

Emma Barton prepares for ’emotional’ day at London Marathon

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Barton says it brings a “lump to her throat” to think about Dame Barbara Windsor watching her run the London Marathon.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress – who plays Honey Mitchell on the BBC One soap – is one of several Walford residents who have formed a running team, Barbara’s Revolutionaries, who are aiming to raise £100,000 by taking on the 26.2-mile race in support of the former ‘Enders’ actress, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014.
The soap star admitted it would be “the most emotional way to end the day” if the 81-year-old star is able to attend the event and see her fellow cast members supporting her.
In an interview with OK! magazine, she said: “It’ll be the most emotional way to end the day. Even talking about it brings a lump to my throat. ”
Emma hailed Barbara – who played Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell – as a “great influence” on the younger cast members of the show and insisted she’s a “strong woman”.
She said: “She’s such a good role model and a great influence on young people on the show. She’s done it all and she’s well respected.
“That’s a strong woman someone who knows the business and is disciplined.”
Emma recalled the last time she saw Barbara, admitting she “looked fantastic”, and during the chat they reminisced on the ‘EastEnders’ legend’s days starring in the ‘Carry On’ film franchise.
When asked when she last saw Barbara, Emma said: “Just before Christmas for a cup of tea. We had a laugh and she was telling us old stories about her ‘Carry On’ days.
“She looked fantastic. Of course you can have good and bad days.”

Liam Cunningham joins bank heist thriller Way Down

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Cunningham has joined the cast of ‘Way Down’.
The 57-year-old actor – who plays Sir Davos Seaworth in the hit HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ – will star in the upcoming bank heist thriller, which will be helmed by Jaume Balagueró.
According to Variety, Cunningham joins ‘The Good Doctor’ star Freddie Highmore, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey – who portrayed mermaid Syrena in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ – and ‘Maleficent’ star Sam Riley.
The drama will follow genius engineering graduate Thom (Highmore) who discovers that the Bank of Spain has a safe – built over 100 years ago – that has no blueprints as well as a security system that includes an underground river that floods the safe room if breached.
Thom masterminds a meticulous plan along with art dealer Walter (Cunningham) to break into the bank and steal a lost treasure which will be stored there for ten days.
The pair will only have 90 minutes to rob the bank during the 2010 soccer World Cup final – which was played between Spain and Netherlands – when the staff will be distracted by a giant screen showing the game erected just in front of the building.

The screenplay has been penned by Andrés Koppel, Borja González Santaolalla, Rafael Martínez, Michel Gaztambide and Rowan Athale, while Highmore, 27, will take a producer credit.
‘Way Down’ is currently shooting in Madrid.

George Harrison financed Life of Brian because he ‘wanted to see it’

OHMYGOSSIP — George Harrison remortgaged his house to finance Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’ because he “wanted to see it”.
Sir Michael Palin revealed that after EMI got “cold feet” about the classic 1979 comedy – which follows Brian Cohen (Graham Chapman) as he is repeatedly mistaken for the Messiah with his life paralleling Jesus’ own story – Eric Idle sought the help of The Beatles star, who “pawned his house and arranged a loan of $5m”.
In an interview with the Guardian, Palin – who was a founding member of the iconic troupe – said: “EMI was going to finance the film, but got cold feet. It was a mortal blow, because we were already in pre-production.
“So Eric went to Hollywood and pitched it to George Harrison, who had been a huge Python fan since the first TV programme.
“He pawned his house and arranged a loan of $5m. When he was asked why, he just said: ‘Because I want to see it’. Not many people pay $5m for an admission ticket.”
Palin, 75, also explained how Monty Python – made up of himself, Idle, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones – came up with the idea for the cult comedy and originally thought they could “never” do a film focused on religion.
He continued: “We were on a publicity tour in Amsterdam for ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ when Eric Idle came up with the title ‘Jesus Christ: Lust for Glory’.
“We all laughed: “We could never do that!” But we liked the challenge of doing a film about religion. Then someone suggested it be set around the time when Jesus was alive, but it’s a case of mistaken identity.
“Someone who’s thought to be the Messiah, but spends the whole film protesting that he isn’t.”

Mark Ruffalo didn’t know whether The Hulk would survive ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ruffalo had no idea whether The Hulk survived the end of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ hits the big screen this month after ‘Infinity War’ saw half the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe turned to dust – including favorites such as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury – while all the original ‘Avengers’ characters remained safe, but the 50-year-old actor didn’t know his own fate after shooting two different endings for his alter ego.
Speaking to Yahoo, he said: “I didn’t know until I saw the movie. For one take, I did disappear, and then the other one I didn’t.”
‘Avengers: Endgame’ will be released Thursday, April 25 and the film’s directors Anthony and Joe Russo previously teased the picture would be the “conclusion of the grandest experiment in movie history”.
The acclaimed directing duo boasted that the highly-anticipated flick, which wraps up the third phase of the MCU, was a “unique opportunity” as filmmakers to “wrap up 11 different franchises”.
Joe said: “We knew it was gonna be probably the conclusion of the grandest experiment in movie history which is the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“There’s people all over the world who are so connected to these characters and they’ve spent so much of their time and their thought and their energy you know going on this journey for 11 years.
“It felt like a really, really unique opportunity as a storyteller to tell a story wrapping up you know 11 different franchises.”
Although the future of the MCU appears to be bright – including reports surrounding movies like ‘Black Widow’, ‘Black Panther 2’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ – Marvel’s president Kevin Feige has admitted while the franchise will continue, he can’t confirm any details yet.
Asked if Marvel Studios would attend San Diego Comic-Con in July, he explained: “I don’t wanna be annoying, but I think it … In a certain way, that is also sort of a post-‘Endgame’ spoiler. I will say all of the post Comic-Con, post Spider-Man: Far From Home stuff, we … Here’s an exclusive.
“We’re gonna keep making movies. We’re gonna still keep making movies after these two. And we will talk about them soon after ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ comes out.”

James Buckley says Russell Brand influenced The Inbetweeners

OHMYGOSSIP — James Buckley says Russell Brand had a huge influence on ‘The Inbetweeners’.
The 31-year-old actor played crude Jay Cartwright on the British sitcom – which spawned two spin-off movies – and says the 43-year-old comedian was a huge inspiration behind the comedy show.
James is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “Russell Brand was such an influence.
“A year after his stand-up tour I started work on a show called ‘Baggy Trousers’, later renamed ‘The Inbetweeners.’
“He inspired it a lot. I’ve not had half the success as old Russ, though.”
The ‘White Gold’ actor starred in ‘The Inbetweeners’ – which followed a group of suburban teenage friends at a comprehensive school – alongside Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison.
But James previously revealed he doesn’t want his and wife Clair Meek’s children, Harrison, seven, and Jude, five, to ever see the comedy show.
He said: “I would never let them watch ‘The Inbetweeners’.
“It’s different for me as I’m supposed to be their dad. I don’t want them to see me behaving in that way. I already have very little respect from them to begin with and I don’t want to lose it completely.”
James also doesn’t believe ‘The Inbetweeners’ – which aired from 2008 to 2010 – would be made nowadays, because people would be too “offended” by the show’s jokes.
He said: “I think it would be really difficult. It’s a bit of a shame to say that. I think it seems to be cool and trendy to be offended by things.
“It’s a shame. It’s sort of killing comedy. You can’t joke about anything.
“Nobody means it, it’s just a flippant comment or a joke.”

And the 50-year-old TV producer is “honoured” to be recognised, because for years she has strived to make popular and entertaining dramas.
She gushed: “I am incredibly honoured to be the recipient of the BAFTA Television Special Award.
“When I set up RED Production Company 20 years ago my goal was to make drama that I wanted to watch and that always challenged the audience as well as entertained.
“It hasn’t been easy but I am proud of the shows we make at RED and how hard we work.
“I have an amazing team, and have worked with a number of the most incredible people, who have made coming into work each day a joy.

Louisa Clein says Emmerdale grooming storyline has been ‘intense’

OHMYGOSSIP — Louisa Clein has found it “intense” filming her ‘Emmerdale’ grooming storyline.
The soap star’s alter-ego Maya Stepney has been grooming schoolboy Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) for weeks, and their relationship will be exposed in a special week of episodes dubbed ‘Big Night Out’, which stars on Monday (22.04.19) and will affect a number of villagers.
Opening up on the storyline, Louisa told RadioTimes.com: “It’s been intense. The last few weeks of build-up has been extraordinary. I have been unbelievably lucky in working with Amy [Walsh (Tracy Metcalfe)], Roxy [Shahidi (Leyla Harding)] and Fiona [Wade (Priya Sharma)] on this part.
“We’ve all really looked out for each other as we’ve been filming long and late into the night and there’s been quite a lot of physical stuff I’ve never had to do before. It’s been an enormous challenge and has not been easy.”
Tracy, Priya and Leyla will catch the teacher with Jacob at a night club, and there will be huge ramifications.
Asked if Maya is prepared for the fallout, Louisa added: “I don’t think so. She naively believed they could wait for Jacob to finish school, go public as a couple and say nothing happened whilst Maya was his teacher.
“They would live happily ever after and she thought that could work. Suddenly the reality triggers pure fear, panic and self-defence.”
But there will be “no going back” for Maya after the upcoming twist.
Louisa said: “Being caught in this way means there is no going back – but it’s how she deals with that. Is she going to run away and hide? Is she going to confront it and try and defend herself? Will she get that opportunity?”
While next week’s episodes will focus on the club, there will be flashback scenes filling in the blanks for viewers which will air from May 6.

The 33-year-old comedian was among the stars who turned out in force to a NOW TV ‘Game of Thrones’ tattoo studio pop-up at The Circle in London’s Soho on Monday night (15.04.19), but sadly the former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star was unable to have a tribute to the epic fantasy series etched onto his body.

The former Pussycat Doll was spotted chatting to Joel at the bash and she was also engaged in conversation with Olly Murs, who admitted to being a huge fan of the programme – which returned for its eighth series in the early hours of Monday morning (15.04.19) – and he regretted not attending the event in fancy dress.
Olly attended the bash with two of his pals who got inked with real ‘Game of Thrones’ tattoos.
Former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Tiffany Watson was also there, and narrowly missed a potential awkward encounter with her ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson.

Loose Women stars to swap soft drinks for ‘prosecco or gin’ at live event

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan says the ‘Loose Women’ panellists will have “prosecco or gin or vodka” in their mugs during their upcoming live event.
The 54-year-old TV presenter will be hitting the road for ‘Loose Women Late: Girls Night Out’ in Birmingham next month, alongside co-stars Andrea McLean, Nadia Sawalha and Saira Khan for an evening of uncensored chat, laughs and surprises galore.
And Coleen says the panellists’ branded ‘Loose Women’ mugs, which usually contain soft drinks, are more likely to contain alcoholic beverages to spice up their late-night live special.
She said: “I think the ‘Loose Women’ mugs on set will have more than water in. We might have a bit of prosecco! Or gin or vodka or something.
“I can’t drink though, because otherwise I won’t make the hour and a half.”
Saira added: “She’ll be asleep!”
Former ‘EastEnders’ actress Nadia has teased fans to expect the one-night-only event to be “far naughtier” than anything viewers have seen before on the lunch-time show.
She said: “I mean there’s bound to be a sex topic and we will be far naughtier.
“But again we don’t want to be crude. It’s the ‘Loose’ you love, but with a bit of an edge. It could be easy to go really extreme but we don’t want it to be tacky.
“It’s about turning the volume up a couple of notches.”
Saira added: “I think it will be a rowdy crowd. It’s a Friday night. It’s got Girls’ Night Out in the title, we don’t know what to expect. We might even get knickers thrown on the stage, you never know.”
‘Loose Women Late: Girls’ Night Out’ is live on stage on Friday May 17 at 6.30pm at Birmingham NEC. Tickets are available on the This Morning Live website.

Danny Miller hits out at Soap Awards snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Miller has hit out at being snubbed for a British Soap Award.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor – who portrays Aaron Sugden-Dingle on the ITV soap – missed out on a nod for the upcoming event, while his Dales co-stars Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden) Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle), and Dominic Brunt (Paddy Kirk) all received nominations.
According to The Sun Online, he said in a now-deleted Instagram livestream: “I’ll tell you who I think is going to win … for the Best Actor category … Ryan or Jeff, either will work.”
He then appeared to read out a fan comment, saying: “You should win a Soap Award.”
Afterwards, Danny continued: “I know, I keep saying this to the Soap Awards every year, you’re so right. F**k the Soap Awards.”
Danny last tasted success at the Soap Awards in 2016 when he triumphed in the Best Actor and Best Male Dramatic Performance categories.
As well as Jeff, Ryan and Dominic’s nods in the event’s longlist, a hat-trick of ‘Emmerdale’ actresses are also up for accolades.
Zoe Henry (Rhona Goskirk), Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle), and Lucy Pargeter (Chas Dingle) – who plays Danny’s on-screen mum – also received nominations.
‘Emmerdale’ is also up for the Best Soap award alongside ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Doctors’, ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Hollyoaks’.
However, the Yorkshire-set ITV soap was snubbed for a TV BAFTA nod last month.
The show missed out in the Soap & Continuing Drama category – just two months after scooping the Serial Drama prize at the National TV Awards.
Following the snub, James Hooton – who has played Sam Dingle in the ITV soap since 1995 – questioned why ‘Emmerdale’ wasn’t nominated.
In response to a tweet from BAFTA, which revealed ‘Casualty’, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ received nods in the Soap and Continuing Drama category, he wrote: “Where’s emmerdale? (sic)”

Megan Barton Hanson’s hospital dash caused by hair dye

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton Hanson was reportedly rushed to hospital after an allergic reaction to hair dye.
The former ‘Love Island’ star spent time in hospital after suffering an allergic reaction last week, and it has now been claimed the illness was caused by a brown hair dye, which left her struggling to breathe.
A source said: “The night after having her hair dyed Megan started to feel unwell – she had an itchy throat and her eyes started to swell up.
“But the following morning she felt like she couldn’t breathe and her face had swollen beyond recognition. Megan was terrified.
“She was given treatment by her doctor but when it failed to help she was taken to hospital by ambulance. It was a really worrying time.”
Megan, 25, originally believed the reaction could have been caused by her known allergies to nuts or shellfish, but later discovered the hair dye was the culprit of her life-threatening illness.
The beauty is now fully recovered, but pals say the incident has left her shaken.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, the source added: “Megan admitted afterwards she was terrified when she first became ill because she had no idea what was happening to her. It was really scary and a worrying time for everyone.”
Following her hospital stay, Megan – who recently split from Wes Nelson – took to Instagram to assure her followers she was “starting to feel a little more human again”.
She said: “Finally starting to feel a little more human again, I’ve never been so scared! When the doctor looks at you in shock and says we need to call an ambulance right now, a day before I was due to fly to LA. Thank you all so much for your well wishes and support it means so much.”

Travis Knight to direct Six Billion Dollar Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Knight is set to direct ‘Six Billion Dollar Man’.
The 45-year-old filmmaker will sit in the director’s chair for the upcoming sci-fi project according to Variety, following his recent success at the helm of ‘Transformers’ franchise production ‘Bumblebee’ last year.
‘Six Billion Dollar Man’ currently has Mark Wahlberg in the starring role as Colonel Steve Austin, a downed pilot who is saved by an operation that makes him part machine.
The movie is based on the classic 1970s sci-fi TV show of the same name, and has Bill Dubuque penning the screenplay.
Prior to Travis’ hiring, the long-gestating project was once in development at The Weinstein Company before moving to Warner Bros. in 2017, and was due to have Damian Szifron as the director and co-writer before he backed out almost a year ago.
Mel Gibson was once rumoured to be taking over as the director, before Travis was confirmed this week.
Sue Kroll, Bill Gerber and Steve Levinson will produce.
For Travis, the project comes after he made his live-action feature film debut with ‘Bumblebee’ last year, which pulled in $466 million at the global box office.
Before taking on the ‘Transformers’ movie, he had worked on stop-motion animation movies through Laika – the studio he founded – including ‘Coraline’, ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’, and the new release ‘Missing Link’.
Meanwhile, Travis recently said he already has ideas for a ‘Bumblebee’ sequel “if the world wants more”.
He said: “When I get to the end of one of my movies, I always imagine what’s next for the characters. And so, in my mind, I’ve got all these scenarios and adventures that play out, both with Charlie and with Bee and everyone else. We’ll see if the world wants more. Maybe we’ll explore some of those things.”

Jennifer Lawrence’s big screen return announced

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence will make her big screen comeback in a drama helmed by acclaimed theater director Lila Neugebauer.
The ‘mother!’ actress decided to take a career break in 2017, but Deadline reports that she is gearing up for her return with a starring role in the as-yet-untitled debut feature length from Neugebauer.
The script has also been penned by first-time screenwriter Elizabeth Sanders.
Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing alongside Lawrence herself, who is teaming up with her Excellent Cadaver partner Justine Polsky on the forthcoming flick.
The studio behind movies such as ‘Lady Bird’ and ‘Ex Machina’, A24, are taking the charge.
Little else is known, other than work is due to begin in June in New Orleans.
Although the Oscar-winner hasn’t set foot on a film set of late, she will be seen reprising the role of Mystique in ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’, which hits cinemas this year.
Announcing her hiatus two years ago, the ‘Red Sparrow’ star said: “I’m taking [a break]. I don’t have anything set for two years.”
And asked what she’ll do with her time off, she quipped: “Start making pots.”
However, the 28-year-old star said she won’t be stepping away from the spotlight completely because she has a number of movies set for release which she’ll have to promote.
She quipped: “I’ll see you in six months.”
During her year-long break, Jennifer got engaged to art gallery director Cooke Maroney.

Big Narstie quit Celebrity Bake Off due to health scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Big Narstie was forced to pull out of ‘Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer’ after he collapsed and was taken to hospital.
The 33-year-old rapper – who impressed the judges with his dog biscuits – has revealed the reason he had to be replaced by the Channel 4 show’s co-host Sandi Toksvig on the charity special last month was because his body was exhausted due to lack of sleep.
Speaking at the BFI and Radio Times Television Festival, he said: “Truth be told, between TV and my music career, they’ve been working me like a prostitute.
“So f**king nine days with only 24 hours sleep … I f**king collapsed, you get me? I went to hospital. That was a wake up that I really needed to slow down. I’m only a human being. I’m not a robot.”
The ‘Big Narstie Show’ star recalled how he felt “a bit f**ked up” at nighttime and everything “went downhill” from there.
He said: “I realised that opportunities don’t mean s**t if you’re not healthy.
“If I haven’t rested or I haven’t slept or had food or done the normal basic things as a human being, how could I stand in front of a camera and do stuff, you know what I mean? It’s mad!
“When my body just gave up it was crazy! At night I just felt a bit f**ked up and then it all went downhill.”
Announcing Narstie’s absence at the start of the episode, Sandi’s co-host Noel Fielding quipped that it was a “seamless swap” and branded his colleague “Little Narstie”.
Speaking at the start of the programme, he said: “There has been a development overnight.
“Unfortunately, Big Narstie can’t be with us today as he’s a little bit unwell, but he will be replaced by another baker. It’s a seamless swap, don’t worry.”
Sandi then admitted she hadn’t baked a cake since school.
She joked: “I haven’t cooked a sponge since domestic science O-level.”
