Janet Street-Porter had only watched Neighbours a few times before cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Janet Street-Porter had only watched ‘Neighbours’ “a couple of times” before making a cameo on the show.
The 72-year-old TV presenter will make her debut on the Channel 5 soap later today (17.04.19), and admitted her acting stint on the Australian show was a “steep learning curve”.
When asked on ‘Loose Women’ – on which she is a panellist – if she is a fan of the programme, she said: “‘Neighbours’ … I’ve watched it a couple of times before.
“It was a bit of a steep learning curve.”
The journalist was also delighted to be reunited with Colette Mann – who plays Sheila Canning on the show – on set because she had worked with her before on Australian TV, but admitted she forgot the actress’ name.
She said: “The actress who plays Sheila …
“People don’t know here that I worked in Australia in the 1980s.
“I hosted a daily TV show at seven o’clock every evening on one of the main channels, Channel 9.
“And the actress whose bag I nicked then, worked with me, so when I went on the set she went ‘Wow, I haven’t seen you in a few years!’
“And I kept thinking: ‘What’s her name? What’s her name?’ ”
Before shooting her scenes, Janet was given a tour of the Erinsborough set by actor Stefan Dennis, whose character Paul Robinson has had five wives and eight weddings.
And the red-haired presenter – who has been married four times – thinks his character has trumped her by having even more nuptials than her.
When interviewing Stefan, she said: “I’ve been married four times and everyone makes a meal out of that! But your character, you’ve left me well behind.”
Janet will be seen on Wednesday’s episode of ‘Neighbours’, which airs at 5.30pm on Channel 5.

Will Smith thinks Aladdin Genie memes are ‘very funny’

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith thinks memes about the Genie in ‘Aladdin’ are “very funny”.
The 50-year-old actor has assumed the role of the lamp-dweller in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming live-action film and the first look at the character arrived in a teaser trailer in February, causing the internet to respond with a slew of funny posts about Will’s blue alter-ego.
However, the Hollywood star admitted that he wasn’t offended by the memes and although he’s still trying to “get a handle on” internet culture, he enjoyed the comedic posts.
In an interview with Empire, he said: “It was very funny. There was a Sonic The Hedgehog / Genie frog.
“Everything is under such critical scrutiny. I came up in an era where there was no internet. It’s a new thing that I’m trying to get a handle on.”
Guy, 50, went on to explain that when another trailer was released with improved shots of the Genie, he was satisfied fans were back on board with the character.
He said: “It even came with apologies from the cynics who were so adamant initially; I’ve never seen apologies in that world. I thought, ‘Oh well, great, we’re back to where I’d hoped we’d be.’ ”
Will previously confessed that he was “terrified” about taking on the role previously held by the late Robin Williams – whose performance in the 1992 animated version of ‘Aladdin’ was widely hailed by fans – but the star is hopeful he’s found a way to “pay homage” to the legendary actor, who took his own life in 2014.
He said: “I was terrified doing the Genie after Robin Williams. But I found a lane that pays homage. It is my own thing, you know? So, I think people are going to love it.”

Olivia Munn joins Love, Wedding, Repeat

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Munn has joined ‘Love, Wedding, Repeat’.
The 38-year-old actress will play the female lead in the romantic comedy, which has been written by and will be directed by Dean Craig.
According to Deadline, Munn will play a character called Dina, a love interest for Jack, who is helping his sister Hayley plan the perfect wedding when he unexpectedly reunites with Dina, and one tiny table seating change will lead to hilarious and disastrous consequences.
Production on the motion picture will begin in Rome on May 6th.
And Munn looks to be busy in 2019 as she has also been cast as the female lead character in social drama movie ‘The Gateway’.
Michele Civetta will direct the movie, which touches on the US prison system and has family themes.
Andrew Levitas and Stephen Israel will produce the film, which will see the actress play Dhalia, a woman who has a social worker, Parker Jode, assigned to look after her and her daughter Ashley while the youngster’s father is serving a seven-year prison sentence.
But when he is released from jail early, their lives are turned upside down.
While she looks set to be busy with a couple of films in the pipeline, one movie Munn will not feature in is ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’.
She portrayed mutant superheroine Psylocke in 2016’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, but she has confirmed her martial artist alter-ego won’t be returning to the franchise for the next movie.
She recently said: “I can’t say anything because last time I said a little bit they sent me a note. But I’m not in it.
“I was filming ‘Predator’ at the time so there wasn’t time for me to film it and so I’m not in it. I will tell you guys.”

Harry’s Heroes: The Full English returning for Euro 2020?

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Redknapp’s ‘Harry’s Heroes: The Full English’ is reportedly set to return for a second series.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner impressed ITV with the two-part series, which saw former football stars including Matt Le Tissier and Robbie Fowler tasked with losing weight and getting back into shape, before taking on a German side on the pitch, so much, that they are planning to bring it back to screens during 2020’s European Championships.
Another group of retired footballers will travel around Europe and be put through their paces, as they play against ex-footballers of the “same era” in another instalment.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Bosses were delighted with the reception the first series got, so are now working on getting a second part locked in.
“The idea with the second series is to get another team of ex-England stars, who are carrying a few extra pounds, to tour Europe and play some other former footballers of the same era.
“The plan is to tie it in with next year’s European Championships, when football fever will grip the country again.
“The search to find a team of willing stars starts now, as does getting Harry signed up.”
The show came to a dramatic conclusion last month, when the Three Lions team, featuring the likes of Fowler, David Seaman, Paul Merson, and Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, beat their rivals in an inspired comeback, after shedding several pounds in a 12-week fitness programme.
Le Tissier was the biggest loser during the series, offloading 10 kilos, earning him the captaincy for the big game, in which England came back from 2-1 down against a Germany side featuring Steffen Freund and Thomas Berthold.
As well as showing the players fighting the flab in a Spanish training camp and back on home soil, the show saw Merson open up about his gambling demons, and admit he is still “struggling badly” with life.
Speaking to the camera, the former Arsenal footballer said: “I’m struggling with life at the moment, struggling badly.
“Life’s fallen apart. Gambling … I’ve just completely lost control again.
“I’m digging a hole – I can’t get out of it. It’s the worst addiction in the world.”

John Cena wanted for Suicide Squad sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — John Cena is reportedly being eyed for a role in the ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel.
According to Variety, the WWE star-and-actor is reportedly in talks to join James Gunn’s follow-up to the 2016 DC ensemble movie.
It’s not known what part he’s wanted for, but if he does sign up, the ‘Bumblebee’ star will be joining returning cast members including Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Viola Davis (Captain Waller).
The latest rumour surrounding the comic book flick comes after it was reported that Idris Elba will play a new character, rather than replacing Will Smith as Deadshot.
The 46-year-old actor was previously believed to have signed up to portray the gunslinging adversary of Batman after Smith exited the project in February.
However, Variety reported that bosses involved with the sequel, including director Gunn, had decided to move on from the Deadshot character and axe him from the movie, with Elba instead taking on a new role.
It’s still not known what DC villain the ‘Luther’ star will take on instead, but it was claimed the decision was made as bosses didn’t want to disrespect Smith by replacing him, as he’d helped to bring Deadshot to life on screen for the first time.
The publication also claimed the decision leaves the door open for Smith to return to the role in the future, since his reason for departing the franchise was simply a scheduling conflict, rather than creative differences.
Gunn is back at the helm of the sequel flick after it was previously revealed he is writing the script.
Production on the follow-up – which has been titled ‘The Suicide Squad’ and is thought to be a reboot of sorts rather than a direct sequel – is planned to start later this year.
The film’s release date is currently set for August 2021.

The Greatest Dancer captains look set for return

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Greatest Dancer’ captains look set to return for the second series.
The first run of the BBC’s dancing competition came to an end in February – when it was won by Ellie Ferguson – and co-host Jordan Banjo has dropped a huge hint that panellists Cheryl, Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison could be “coming back” to the popular series.
Jordan told The Sun Online: “As far as I know everyone is coming back.
“I’ve already heard loads about what’s to come.
“We’ve learnt a lot and I’m sure the show is going to come back bigger and better than last time.”
Cheryl was praised for her performance on the show, which saw the singer team up with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Pasha Kovalev for a Latin-style routine, and Jordan believes her dancing is of “world-class level”.
He added: “Cheryl brought so much to the show as a dancer and dance captain.
“She was wicked to work with and handled everything really well.
“Her performance with the ‘Strictly’ pros was like a baptism of fire. Getting on stage with them at world-class level and holding her own, she smashed it.
“When you think of Cheryl, you don’t automatically think of her being a dancer. She’s a global performer and singer.
“She has such a huge list of accomplishments which overshadow her dance ability.
“The fact of the matter is, she is trained and does know what she’s doing. She has the experience and understanding of performing in front of thousands of people all over the world – you can’t teach someone that.”
‘The Greatest Dancer’ has been confirmed for a second series in 2020.

Chloe Ferry: I was a lesbian for two days

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Ferry has claimed she was a lesbian “for two days”.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star – who is in a relationship with Sam Gowland – has admitted she once questioned her sexuality for 48 hours when she believed she was only attracted to other women, before realising it wasn’t for her.
When on fan on Twitter told her: “@Chloe_GShore is one of my biggest inspirations and lesbian crushes I have. I just can’t deal. Am not even sorry. X (sic)”
Chloe replied: “I used to be Lesbian for 2 days (sic)”
The 23-year-old beauty has been seen in the past locking lips with her co-star Marnie Simpson, and once even upset her boyfriend Sam, who said he considered it cheating.
And in 2016, she had got steamy under the covers with Charlotte Crosby after a drunken night out, but explained afterwards that she “didn’t like it”.
She said: “When I tried to have sex with her I realised I didn’t like it. We tried to have a relationship but we just didn’t like it and we realised we weren’t lesbians.”
Following the failed romp, Charlotte then joked about the encounter on ‘Geordie Shore’, insisting she is “not a lesbian”.
She added: “All I have to say about last nights happenings are, I am not a lesbian, I actually like penis and me and Chloe were just having a laugh.”
Meanwhile, Chloe previously insisted she can’t understand why men claim to prefer a “natural” look on women, when she believes her cosmetic surgery treatments – including a nose job, breast uplift, botox, and fillers – make her look “better”.
She said: “Guys who say they love natural and don’t like fake boobs are f***ing liars. People tell me I need to stop but why do they even care? No one can say I looked better before. Why do people lie?”

Michelle Yeoh cast in Avatar sequels

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Yeoh has been cast in the ‘Avatar’ sequels.
The ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star will take on the major role of scientist Dr. Karina Mogue in the next instalments of the blockbuster sci-fi movies.
The franchise’s director, James Cameron commented: “Throughout her career, Michelle has always created unique and memorable characters.
“I look forward to working with Michelle to do the same thing on the Avatar sequels.”
Yeoh’s casting comes after Vin Diesel teased that he has joined the cast.
The 51-year-old actor seemingly let the news slip after he shared a video on Instagram of himself and the filmmaker on set, in which he strongly suggested the pair were working together.
Speaking in the video, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star said: “It’s long overdue, there is one person in Hollywood I’ve always wanted to work with and learn from, and so, all things come, I guess, to those that wait.”
The ‘Titanic’ director then quipped: “We’re actually gonna give him the flashy thing from ‘Men In Black’ when he leaves here so he has no memory whatsoever of what he’s seen.”
The ‘Fast and Furious’ star captioned the video: “And the journey continues… #Blessed #Grateful #Avatar.”
Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Cliff Curtis and David Thewlis are among the new names joining the franchise.
The original 2009 film focuses on the human led Resources Development Administration (RDA) attempting to mine Pandora for unobtanium, a hugely valuable mineral.
The moon is inhabited by indigenous aliens the Na’vi, beings who appear primitive but are highly evolved, and as the planet’s environment is poisonous to human beings, human/Na’vi hybrids called Avatars must link to human minds to allow for free movement on the planet.
Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paralysed former marine becomes mobile again through one such Avatar and falls in love with a Na’vi woman (Zoe Saldana), however, he is drawn into a battle for the survival of her world when the RDA threaten to destroy it.
The new films – which will be released in 2020 and then in 2021, 2024 and 2025 – will take Sam’s character Jake on an “emotional rollercoaster”.
Cameron previously said: “Having gone through the experience with [Sam] on Avatar, I now knew how to write the Jake character going forward across the emotional rollercoaster of the next four movies. It’s been tough on him. He’s done two pictures back to back now, because we did 2 and 3 together. He had to go to some dark places.”

And now, Jennifer – who produces alongside Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Adam McKay – has revealed the flick will hit cinema screens later this year, on September 13.
Posting a video of herself on set inside luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman on Twitter, she said: “I have a secret. The release date for ‘Hustlers’ has just been set for September 13. We’re coming to a theatre near you. Look out for all of us!”
She then captioned the clip: “Thass right SEPTEMBER 13. @hustlersmovie coming to a theater near you. #BergdorfDelirium (sic)”
‘Hustlers’ sees Jennifer star alongside rapper Cardi B, as well as Keke Palmer, Constance Wu, and Lili Reinhart.
The movie is being directed by Lorene Scafaria, who also wrote the script using the New York magazine article penned by Jessica Pressler in 2015.

Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio keen to continue show

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Line of Duty’ creator Jed Mercurio is keen to write at least two more series of the hit cop show.
The fifth instalment of the BBC One crime series – which stars the likes of Adrian Dunbar (Superintendent Ted Hastings), Vicky McClure (DI Kate Fleming) and Martin Compston (DS Steve Arnott) – is currently playing out on screens and the showrunner has revealed he is set to hold discussions with the broadcaster to see if there is still an “appetite” for more episodes and whether after series six, which has already been commissioned, the show will continue.
Jed needs to know if a seventh series will go ahead in order to be able to write the next episodes according to the plot.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, Jed said: “We’re looking forward to a conversation with the BBC once series five has aired … about whether there is an appetite from fans to have more, or whether there’s a feeling the show is coming towards its natural arc.
“That conversation will be very specific, which is whether series six will be the last, or whether the BBC would be prepared to commission a seventh so we can approach series six knowing it’s not the last.”
Meanwhile, the current series hasn’t been short of dramatic storylines.
Maya Sondhi’s alter ego PC Maneet Bindra was left for dead at the close of the opening episode of season five after an organised crime group (OCG) turned on her and slashed her throat when she was found with a bugged mobile phone.
The actress admitted the shock twist came after she begged the showrunner for more to do whilst drunk.
She said recently: “The moral of the story is never get drunk with Jed and suggest something.
“Months before he had written this series, we were at an awards do and I was sat next to Jed and I was saying I was chuffed to come back but I said ‘what are we going to do with her because we have to resolve what happened with Hilton? She can’t just carry on working there’.
“And he said ‘We do need to do something’. So I said ‘We could do something really dramatic’.
“Then when he rang me to talk about storylines he said ‘you know that stuff you were talking about that was quite interesting’ so we kind of colluded. I was up for doing something quite dramatic because I just thought you wouldn’t expect it from Maneet because she is just basically paper pushing in the background and giving information and doing searches.”
Despite Maneet having her throat slit by the balaclava gang, Maya teased that it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s gone for good.
She said: “You never know with Jed, look what he did with Keeley in ‘Bodyguard’, the whole thing was about the Bodyguard and her and then he killed her off. Craig Parkinson’s character came back in ‘Line Of Duty’ before and with Jed you never ever assume anything because you never know what is going to happen. That is all I can say really.
“It was a night shoot for those scenes we did so I am not gonna lie it was pretty freezing, but the crew are so amazing and clever what they do. We had some of the guys that work on ‘Game Of Thrones’ that were dealing with the blood, it is so exciting when you see the final thing and the finishing shots, you think that was worth lying around and getting cold for.”

Miriam Margolyes wants more death conversations

OHMYGOSSIP — Miriam Margolyes hopes to help people feel less “embarrassed” about death.
The 77-year-old actress will explore the subject of mortality in the two-[part BBC2 series ‘Miriam’s Dead Good Adventure’ – which sees her spend time with communities in both the US and Europe – and she hopes the show will encourage more conversations around the subject.
She said: “For so long death has been a subject that people couldn’t talk about. It makes people embarrassed or nervous and that doesn’t help anyone. I think that we should all talk about it and that’s why I have made this programme.
“You can’t generalise about death which is odd when it is the most universal experience. Everyone deals with it differently but it’s the only thing that absolutely everyone will go through.”
And the ‘Harry Potter’ actress admitted her experiences during filming has changed the way she feels about dying because she is no longer “frightened” of it.
She said: “The film has definitely changed the way that I feel about death. I’m less frightened by it now.

Miriam felt “nervous” approaching the subject with someone terminally ill but she quickly developed an “incredible connection” with cancer patient Tracy.
She said: “The most striking thing from my journey would be meeting Tracy, a wonderful woman living with terminal cancer.
“I was very nervous to meet a stranger to talk about something as personal as preparing for death but I felt an incredible connection with her. We opened up to each other straight away.
“Tracy’s life was full of passion for living and love for her daughters. She made life rich. She was extraordinary and she had such strength. She was very special to me.
“We remained in daily contact until she died.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves was once blacklisted from Fox for 14 years.
The 54-year-old actor has claimed that the studio stopped him appearing in any of their films after he turned down a role in ‘Speed 2’ – after the first edition in 1994 propelled him to global stardom – to play Hamlet in a regional stage production in Winnipeg, Canada
The ‘Matrix’ star compared his situation to being put in “movie jail” and revealed that he didn’t work with Fox again until 2008’s sci-fi reboot ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’.
In an interview with GQ magazine, as their May cover star, he said: ” I didn’t work with [Fox] again until ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’.”
The studio eventually cast in Jason Patric opposite Sandra Bullock in their 1997 sequel ‘Speed 2: Cruise Control’.
Keanu hasn’t made a major studio movie since 2013’s ’47 Ronin’ however is still keen on action movies – and admitted that he’ll keep working on the ‘John Wick’ franchise – in which he stars as the titular hit man who sets out on a mission to find the men who broke into his home, stole his vintage car and killed his puppy – as long as the demand is there.
He said: “[He’ll take it] As far as my legs can take me. As far as the audience wants to go.”
The original 2014 crime thriller grossed $88.8 million at the international box office while its sequel ‘John Wick: Chapter Two’ made an impressive $171,218,382 worldwide.

Zellner tells of how he joined ranks with the black students who were protesting and “sometimes dying to challenge the Southern ‘way of life’ he had been raised on but rejected”.

June Brown: I’m going to die ‘fairly soon’

OHMYGOSSIP — June Brown thinks she will die “fairly soon” – so she will not give up drinking Guinness or puffing on cigarettes.
The 92-year-old actress – who has played ‘EastEnders’ legend Dot Cotton since 1985 – doesn’t see the point of counting the number of cigs she has a day, and still insists on chowing down on dark chocolate, despite being allergic to the sweet treat.
She said: “I’m going to die of something fairly soon, so why not enjoy myself … [I] love red wine and also dark chocolate, even though I’m allergic to it and it makes me sneeze.
“And the Guinness helps me keep a bit of weight on. So I don’t need to be careful about what I eat or drink. What’s the point of counting how many cigarettes I smoke a day? I’ve been on them for over 70 years.”
Despite her seven-decade cigarette habit, June did attempt to move onto electronic cigs, but they were too “heavy”.
She said: “I did try one of those new electronic cigarettes, but it was so heavy it kept falling out of my mouth – so that went in the bin.”
June isn’t a massive fan of modern technology, but knows her way around a TV and regularly tunes into ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ as well as ‘News At Ten’ to catch up on her current affairs.
She added to Radio Times magazine: “I watch ‘News At Ten’ and ‘Loose Women’ and that gives me all I need to know.”
Earlier this month, June admitted she struggles to “go out socially” because of her “very poor” eyesight.
She said: “I’ve got very poor sight. I’ve got extra lenses inside my eyes to try and help me read better.
“They help with my peripheral vision, but I’ve got no central vision at all. I haven’t driven for years and I can’t really go out socially due to my eyesight.”

Steve Backshall feared death in terrifying whirlpool

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Backshall thought he was going to die when he was dragged underwater by a whirlpool.
The wildlife presenter – who has nine-month-old son Logan with his Olympic rower wife Helen Glover – was scared he would never see his family again during the terrifying incident while filming new BBC Two show ‘Undiscovered Worlds’ in the Himalayas.
He’s quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “For five minutes I was being dragged under the water again and again, slowly drowning. That’s enough time to think, ‘This is really bad and I’m not going to get to see Helen and Logan again.’
“I was terrified. It’s a really horrible way to go. You can’t breathe, you’re freezing cold and I’d lost use of my fingers by being hammered underwater.”
Thankfully, he was saved by safety kayaker Sal Montgomery.
The scenes will air on BBC Two later this year, while six episodes will be shown on Dave in July.
Naturalist Steve, 45, and Helen, 32, welcomed their first son Logan into the world in July last year, and he described it as his “biggest adventure”.
At the time, the loved-up couple – who got married in 2016 – shared the same sweet black and white snap of Steve holding their baby’s tiny foot in his hand to reveal the happy news.
Helen wrote: “Steve and I will are excited to welcome Baby Boy Backshall to the world, we promise to make it a great one for you little man @backshall.steve. (sic)”
The couple first announced they were expecting twins in March 2018, but a month later, Helen posted on social media that she had suffered a miscarriage and had lost one of their babies.
At the time, she told her followers: “Thanks for all your lovely messages.
“We’ve had the hard news that one baby hasn’t made it but we are very excited and hopeful for the remaining baby to arrive this summer.”
