Diversity in talks to ‘go back and perform’ on Britain’s Got Talent

OHMYGOSSIP — Diversity are in talks to “go back and perform” at ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
The dance troupe won season three of the ITV talent competition in 2009 – beating singer Susan Boyle – and now the group’s frontman Jordan Banjo has revealed that he would love to choreograph a special performance for the series that made them famous.
He told The Sun: “The live shows are coming round and it would be wicked to go back and perform. It’s weird to think it was ten years ago that we were on ‘BGT’.
“I can’t imagine not doing what we’re doing now, but it also feels like that night was a few months ago. It’s all been such a whirlwind but I can’t imagine life any other way.”
Diversity last appeared on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2016 to take part in the show’s 10th anniversary – teaming up with the show’s best loved acts including Ashleigh and Pudsey, George Sampson and Stavros Flatley – to create a one-off dance special.
Ashley admitted that it was one of the group’s “biggest performances” to date, and said they are looking forward to their own “personal anniversary” and what’s in store for the future.
He added: “That was one of the biggest performances that’s ever been. People were raving about it and still watch it back now. It was such a celebration of the show and because that’s where we came from it meant a lot to us.
“Now we’re looking forward to our personal anniversary. It’s a busy year for the boys. Throughout our ten years there’s been a lot of good stuff and also some lows.”
Diversity will be hitting the road for their much-anticipated eight-date ‘Born Ready’ tour – which starts in September 2019 – and Jordan admitted that he’s “excited” to show everyone what they’ve been working on.
He continued: “There’s always going to be tough times, not everything’s perfect. I think to show that through performance to everyone would be incredible. I’m really excited to show everyone.”

EastEnders star Jake Wood says his mum prefers Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Jake Wood says his mum prefers ‘Coronation Street’.
The 46-year-old actor has played Max Branning on the BBC soap since 2006, but while appearing on Saturday night’s (20.04.19) episode of ‘All Round To Mrs Brown’s’ Jake’s mum Joelle confessed that it wasn’t a “big moment” when her son was cast as she prefers the rival show.
The Daily Star reports that Cathy Brown – played by Jennifer Gibney – asked Joelle: “Was it a big moment in the family when Jake was cast in EastEnders?”
Jake’s mother then paused, looking uncomfortable, and said: “Urm…Obviously not!”
Jake interjected, admitting: “She watches a lot of ‘Coronation Street.’ ”
The TV star is a firm favourite with fans and has won multiple awards for his portrayal of the Walford lothario over the years, and the actor recently thanked fellow soap veteran Dame Barbara Windsor for taking him under her wing ahead of his “daunting” ‘EastEnders’ debut.
Jake recently revealed that his legendary co-star – who is living with dementia after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014 – gave him “lots of advice” to make his early days on set as relaxed as possible.
He said: “I remember when I started on ‘EastEnders’ 12 years ago Barbara really took me under her wing. It’s very daunting starting on a show like ‘EastEnders’.
“It’s part of British life so as an actor you’re quite nervous coming in. I’ll always remember Barbara sort of giving me lots of advice and just making sure I was comfortable really. So she’s always been a really good friend to me.”
Jake will join the likes of Adam Woodyatt, Natalie Cassidy and Barbara’s husband Scott Mitchell to run the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon on April 28 as team Barbara’s Revolutionaries to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Alicya Eyo is drawn to playing characters in prison dramas

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicya Eyo was drawn to her ‘Clink’ role because the prison drama “jumped out” at her.
The 43-year-old actress stars as Dominique Darby in 5Star’s newshow, and she admitted that she enjoys taking on such projects because there are always new stories that “need to be told”, while she especially loves “female-led” productions.
She told Digital Spy: “The fact that it’s a new prison drama jumped out at me. It’s not been done in a while and there are always new stories that need to be told – that is something that is specifically close to my heart.
“The writing is incredible and the fact that it’s a female-led drama, with mostly female writers and directors, had me very excited! Also – I love LA Productions. I’ve worked with them a few times in the past and have so much respect for the work they put in and the calibre of work they put out.”
And Alicya – who famously played inmate Denny Blood in ‘Bad Girls’ from 1999 to 2003 – doesn’t want people to compare her latest project to her former role in the ITV series.
She added: “‘Clink’ has a very different soul and stands alone as a show. And it’s Northern!
“My only reservation was that people who watched ‘Bad Girls’ would watch ‘Clink’ and just see Denny all grown-up and being an Acting Governor! But I got over that quite quickly and saw it as a challenge.
“I had a fantastic team of hair and make-up girls who created a very different look for Dominique, an amazing costume department who made sure I looked the part, and I’m hoping that my acting skills make up for the rest!”
The British star also admitted that she was overjoyed to get the opportunity to play a character who is the “other side” of her ‘Bad Girls’ alter-ego.
She continued: “The chance to play the role of someone on the ‘other side’ after playing an inmate is something not a lot of people get to do and gave me some insight that I could use for Dominique, as she really does care and is affected by the plight of the women.”

Danny Boyle wanted Bowie biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Boyle wanted to make a biopic about David Bowie.
The ‘Trainspotting’ filmmaker and ‘Millions’ screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce had penned a “wonderful” script about the ‘Space Oddity’ singer – who died of cancer in January 2016 – but the pop icon wasn’t interested when Danny approached him about the project in 2012.
He said: “Frank and I were working on a David Bowie script.
“I talked to Bowie about it at the Olympic Games and went to see him.
“He didn’t really want to do anything at that time and I didn’t really understand why.
“It wasn’t clear to anybody he was ill. All he was saying was, ‘I don’t want to do anything in the past. I am working on stuff for the future.’ ”
And the director isn’t sure whether he’ll ever return to the project.
He added to Empire magazine: “I’m not sure if we’ll come back to it. But he is a particular British person I’d want to study.
“Frank’s was a wonderful script about the relationship between him and Iggy Pop.”
The 62-year-old filmmaker was due to direct the 25th James Bond movie but left the movie last August due to “creative differences” and admitted missing out on the spy saga and not making his Bowie films are the two career decisions that will always “haunt” him.
Asked what he regrets not doing, he said: “The Bowie film we talked about… And the Bond actually, because our version of it was good.
“Those are the two that kind of haunt you. They could have been really good.”

The 34-year-old actress served as producer on the streaming service’s recent film which follows a music journalist who recruits her two best friends for one last outrageous adventure in New York City after being dumped – and revealed that her biggest aim was to make the cast as diverse as possible.
Speaking to Variety, she said: “One of my main goals as a producer was to bring on a very inclusive cast — to have the cast look like the world I walk through.”
The ‘Jane the Virgin’ star also expressed how “blessed” she is to have a slew of A-list friends who were happy to be on board with the project.
She gushed: “I was blessed to have a lot of great friends participate in this: Rosario Dawson jumped in for me, Lakeith Stanfield was so phenomenal.

Strictly Come Dancing bosses ‘eyeing up Carlos Acosta as possible judge’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are said to be eyeing up Carlos Acosta as a potential replacement for Dame Darcey Bussell.
The BBC Latin and ballroom show’s head honchos are said to have been considering the Cuban dancer – who has performed with the retired ballerina before – as a possible panellist on the programme after Darcey announced last week she has quit as a judge.
A Strictly insider said: “Carlos is a huge name in the dance world and has been on Strictly’s radar for a long time.
“Shirley Ballas’ popularity as head judge proves that audiences love genuine experts, even if they’re not a household name yet.”
But it is said show bosses might have to fork out a rumoured £400,000 – around £150,000 more than the other judges receive – for Carlos’ services.
The insider added to The Sun newspaper: “Carlos is a vibrant character, full of energy, with vast experience in his field. He ticks all the boxes and has the backing of influential producers.
“If ‘Strictly’ can strike a deal, it would be an exciting prospect.”
Carlos has previously performed in Royal Ballet productions of ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’ and ‘The Nutcracker’.
But one person who will not be filling Darcey’s spot on the judging panel is ‘Strictly’ pro dancer Oti Mabuse, who yesterday (17.04.19) ruled herself out of the role.
When she was quizzed on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ about speculation she could swap dancing for judging on the programme, Oti said: “No, no. no”.
Host Zoe then said: “You see now the thing is, you would be brilliant at it, but the only thing is it would mean that we wouldn’t get you on the dance floor.”
And ‘The Greatest Dancer’ captain replied: “Yeah, Yeah. I think the ‘Strictly’ audience is just like, ‘No, we’re not ready to let her go.’
“But you know I love dancing. I love coming to the rehearsals. I love being a part of the group, it’s a really special group to be a part of.
“There are no dancers like ‘Strictly’ dancers, how close we are.
“I think I would absolutely miss that and that part of it.”

Coronation Street pay tribute to Sue Nicholls on 40th anniversary

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ have paid tribute to the “wonderful” Sue Nicholls 40 years after she first appeared on the soap.
A post on the ITV show’s YouTube channel treated fans to a flashback to Sue’s debut as Audrey Roberts, who was then known as Audrey Potter, on April 16th 1979.
The description read: “We have a very special anniversary today! 40 years since Audrey Roberts (played by the truly wonderful Sue Nicholls) first graced the cobbles.
“As part of these celebrations, let’s take a look back at Audrey’s (not exactly welcome to all) first appearance. (sic)”
In the scene, Audrey makes an unwelcome appearance at her daughter Gail’s (Helen Worth) celebrations after her husband-to-be Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten) popped the question.
After an unenthusiastic greeting from Gail, Audrey said: “Oh God, one of these days you will sound glad to see me.”
Looking to Brian, she said: “Well, you could’ve done worse, love, much worse. At least he’s got all his teeth.”
And Audrey seems to be keen to hook up herself, asking Gail if she has sorted a man for her.
She said: “I’m fine, love as ever. I’m looking forward to tonight. Have you got a fella for me?”
Sue’s 40th anniversary on ‘Corrie’ comes just weeks after several other cobbles stars celebrated milestones on the soap.
Jack P. Shepherd celebrated 19 years of playing David Platt – Audrey’s grandson – by thanking the ‘Corrie’ writers for the “great storylines” over the years.
He wrote: “Today April 2nd I have been playing David Platt on @coronationstreet for 19 years, thank you for the great storylines and memories. (sic)”
Just days later, Brooke Vincent admitted she couldn’t believe it had been 15 years since she first played Sophie Webster.
She wrote: “F I F T E E N Year’s ago today was my first day at playing “Sophie Webster” They cut off all my hair and gave me a fringe Who would have thought all these years later I would still be there, making a nuisance of myself How time flys!! (sic)”
And Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor, celebrated 13 years in Weatherfield in the same week.

Maddie Ziegler cast in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story

OHMYGOSSIP — Maddie Ziegler is to star in ‘West Side Story’.
The 16-year-old dancer and actress – who starred in the music video for Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Elastic Heart’ – will play a member of the Jets in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic musical.
The filmmaker has also cast Mike Faist – who starred in Broadway’s ‘Newsies’ – as Riff, the leader of the Jets, while Puerto Rican singer-and-dancer Ana Isabelle will play Rosalia.
The 72-year-old filmmaker previously announced that 17-year-old New Jersey high school student Rachel Zegler would make her film debut as the film’s female lead Maria and take on the iconic role – made famous by Natalie Wood in the original 1961 film – opposite Ansel Elgort as Tony.
The ‘E.T’ director previously pledged that the lead role of Maria in his reboot – which follows the love story of a 1950s Romeo and Juliet who are caught between two New York gangs, the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks, – would exclusively go to a Latina actress.
Spielberg previously said: “When we began this process a year ago, we announced that we would cast the roles of Maria, Anita, Bernardo, Chino and the Sharks with Latina and Latino actors.
I’m so happy that we’ve assembled a cast that reflects the astonishing depth of talent in America’s multi-faceted Hispanic community. I am in awe of the sheer force of the talent of these young performers, and I believe they’ll bring a new and electrifying energy to a magnificent musical that’s more relevant than ever.”
Zegler added that she was “humbled” to be offered such a significant role to the Hispanic community and can’t wait to get started.
She said: “I am so thrilled to be playing the iconic role of Maria alongside this amazing cast. West Side Story was the first musical I encountered with a Latina lead character.
“As a Colombian-American, I am humbled by the opportunity to play a role that means so much to the Hispanic community.”

Stephen Graham spoke to Army Intelligence for Line of Duty research

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Graham spoke to an Army Intelligence officer to help with his ‘Line of Duty’ role.
The 45-year-old actor has joined the hit series as gang leader John Corbett – who is actually an undercover cop – and after speaking to writer Jed Mercurio about his character, he decided to do some research into what it would take to play such an involved role.
He told ES Magazine: “Jed writes fully rounded characters, which is a gift. But we talked a lot about [Corbett’s] backstory.
“I spoke to a friend of mine who did a lot of undercover work, not as a police officer but in Army Intelligence.
“He put his life on the line. Basically, what I came away with was that being undercover is acting of the f***ing highest order.”
But Stephen insists there isn’t really a comparison between being undercover for real and acting for TV and film.
He said: “We get in make-up, put on a costume and we entertain people. We try and dive into these characters and tell a story. What they’re doing is putting their lives at risk. Imagine how high the stakes are.”
Filming hasn’t always been plain sailing for Stephen though, as he recently admitted he was almost mistaken for a real criminal while shooting scenes for the police corruption drama.
Last month, he said: “There was one bit when we’d just committed a robbery and we shot off, and we were actually driving through the streets of Belfast with our balaclavas and machine guns in the car and we realised we’d better get back to set.
“So that was quite funny, but wouldn’t have been too funny if people had seen. It was all a lot of fun; it was a lovely environment to work in.”

Rylan Clark-Neal to co-host It Takes Two

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark-Neal is the new co-presenter of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ spin-off ‘It Takes Two’.
The former ‘Big Brother’s Bit On The Side’ host feels “extremely honoured” to be joining regular host Zoe Ball on the show when it returns later this year and is looking forward to bringing a lot of “mischief” to the Latin and ballroom competition.
He said: “I can’t begin to explain how excited I am to be joining the Strictly family. I’ve always been a massive fan of ‘It Takes Two’ and to be working with the amazing Zoe Ball is a dream.
“I’m extremely honoured to be joining such a television institution and can’t wait to bring a lot of mischief to the Strictly bubble. I’m looking forward to getting started and seeing you all soon.”
The 48-year-old DJ – who broke the news on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Thursday (18.04.19) morning – thinks Rylan is the perfect presenter to bring on board.
She gushed: “I adore Rylan, he’s an absolute wonder, I love his daftness and naughtiness and he’s a brilliant live telly host. He’ll fit right into our ‘It Takes Two’ family. Can’t wait for this new season to start, it’s going be a hoot!”
And BBC bosses are equally thrilled to have the former ‘X Factor’ contestant join the ‘Strictly’ team.
Dan McGolpin, Controller of BBC Programming and Daytime, said: “We are really excited to welcome Rylan to the ‘Strictly’ family. He’s a fantastic broadcaster and I can’t think of a better person to help bring our viewers all the latest Strictly news.”
‘It Takes Two’ will return to TV on weeknights in the autumn.
Rylan’s appointment came after the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner recently vowed not to compete on another reality show.
He said: “”As a contestant, no. It’s how I started and I’ve been so lucky to have the career that I’ve had in reality TV and I will never forget where I came from, and that’s why I’m a massive supporter of reality TV.
“But I enjoy hosting too much, or it would take a lot of money.”

Line of Duty to have feature-length season finale

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Line of Duty’ looks set to end with a feature-length episode next month.
The BBC’s police drama is due to come to a conclusion on May 5th and it is said that after the thriller’s huge popularity, the final episode of the fifth series will run for 90 minutes rather than the usual hour, making it the show’s longest-ever ep.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: “Creating a closing episode which is the same length as some feature films shows just how huge this show has become and how much the corporation values it.
“Jed also felt it was necessary to create a bumper finale to tie up the many loose ends created in this series twisting storylines.”
Although the BBC has a history of extending the running time for finales – including series three of ‘Line of Duty’, and ‘Bodyguard’ – to 75 minutes, it could still be a bit of a logistical nightmare.
The insider added: “It’s going to be a bit of a headache for schedulers as it means moving the news to fit in such a lengthy show on a Sunday night.
“But they’re determined to create a nationwide shared moment similar to last year’s ‘Bodyguard’ finale, which had 10.4 million tuning in.”
It’s thought the finale could draw record viewing figures for the Beeb, with the first three episodes already amassing an audience of between 7.3 million and eight million.
Creator Jed Mercurio says the crime series – which stars the likes of Adrian Dunbar (Superintendent Ted Hastings), Vicky McClure (DI Kate Fleming) and Martin Compston (DS Steve Arnott) – could continue beyond a sixth season, which has already been commissioned.
He recently said: “We’re looking forward to a conversation with the BBC once series five has aired … about whether there is an appetite from fans to have more, or whether there’s a feeling the show is coming towards its natural arc.
“That conversation will be very specific, which is whether series six will be the last, or whether the BBC would be prepared to commission a seventh so we can approach series six knowing it’s not the last.”

Chris Simmons inundated with The Bill comeback questions

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Simmons is constantly asked when ‘The Bill’ will be making a comeback.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor – who is still best remembered for playing the role of DC Mickey Webb in the hit ITV show from 1998 until the program ended in 2010 – says people always recognise him for the role and still hold out hope that the police drama could return.
Chris told Inside Soap magazine: “I do get it quite a bit, people saying to me, ‘When are they going to bring back ‘The Bill?’ ‘ I forget that there are repeats on TV all the time.
“People still watch it, and they tell me stories I was involved with in the early 2000s.
“I’m just thinking, ‘I can’t remember that. It was a long time ago.”
The 44-year-old star – who has also starred in ‘Casualty’ – recently joined ‘Hollyoaks’ as far-right extremist Stuart Sumner, and says he was drawn to the role because he wanted to play someone who was “mysterious” and “dark”.
He said: “I actually first heard about him from someone that I worked with on ‘The Bill’ years back, and I thought he sounded like an amazing character to play.
“Then, when I got sent the breakdown and some scenes to read, it was just really mouth-watering. He’s a dark, mysterious, charming – he has the gift of the gab and could blag anything.”
The TV star is hopeful the storyline – which also features Jonny Baxter (Ray Quinn) and Sami Maalik (Rishi Nair) – will open people’s eyes up to how much racism is prevalent in the UK.
When asked what he hoped viewers would learn from the plot, he said: “Just that this is something that’s happening all around – it can be happening next door without you ever realising.
“‘Hollyoaks’ is really good at starting conversations about things like this.
“When they take on this kind of story, they really take it on – they do their homework and take their time.
“There’s a long story arc with this plot.”

Kristen Wiig to reunite with Annie Mumolo to pen new comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Wiig is set to reunite with her ‘Bridesmaids’ co-writer Annie Mumolo on a new comedy.
The 45-year-old actress and comedian – who penned the Oscar-nominated comedy script alongside 45-year-old Annie – has re-teamed with the ‘Joy’ scribe to create a new Lionsgate film, ‘Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar’.
The pair will also co-star in the film, which will be helmed by Josh Greenbaum and female-focused production company Gloria Sanchez Productions – founded and led by Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay – will produce alongside Kristen and Annie.
The movie will tell the story of best pals Barb and Star (Wiig and Mumolo), who find themselves tangled up in a villain’s evil plot to kill everyone in town after leaving their small midwestern town for the first time to go on vacation in Vista Del Mar.
In a statement, Greenbaum said: “I’m so excited to be a part of this movie which showcases Kristen and Annie’s original, fresh and undeniably hilarious voice in spades, I’m also always looking for projects with titles that rhyme, so it really all worked out on this one.”
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane added: “It is such an honour that Kristen and Annie have entrusted us with their follow-up to ‘Bridesmaids.’
“Their projects offer a rare combination of big laughs, big heart and female empowerment that everyone will love — men and women, young and old.

Paul O’Grady thinks Cilla Black would have been ‘proud’ of bisexual Blind Date

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul O’Grady thinks Cilla Black would have “been proud” of the new bisexual episode of ‘Blind Date’.
The 63-year-old comedian hosts the popular matchmaking show – which currently runs on Channel 5 – and is sure the late TV presenter would have been delighted by the latest twist on the show, which she hosted on ITV between 1985 and 2003.
Paul is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “It was a joy to film and I’m sure Cilla would have been proud.”
The bisexual episode includes beauty consultant Jordan, who must take her pick from support worker Lily, and male model Jesse.
In the past, ‘Blind Date’ has featured homosexual men and women, and drag queens.
And Paul – who started his career as drag queen Lily Savage, before going onto present mainstream shows like ‘For The Love of Dogs’ and his own daytime chat show – was delighted to see more diversity on the show when there was a drag queen edition in 2018.
He said: “I’m so happy that we have included drag queens on this series of ‘Blind Date’.
“It’s about time – it is 2018 after all.
“Having been a drag artiste myself, I’m very proud to be part of this ‘Blind Date’ first.”
‘Loose Women’ panellist Janet Street-Porter recently revealed she gifted ‘The Lily Savage Show’ star her wedding dress – from her nuptials with David Sorkin in 1997 – to wear as Lily.
Janet – who divorced David two years after their big day – said: “I’ve sold quite a lot of my clothes over the year.
“I’ve sold two of my wedding dresses – the fourth wedding dress I gave to Paul O’Grady as an outfit for Lily Savage, and he wore it.
“Yeah, well I’ve worn Lily Savage outfits on occasion, I’ve got to admit to that too. It does work both ways.”

Jack Fincham still has ‘a lot of feelings’ for Dani Dyer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Fincham still has feelings for Dani Dyer.
The ‘Love Island’ stars – who met on the ITV2 show last summer, and then won the show – confirmed earlier this month they had called time on their relationship, and Jack cannot see a way back for the former couple despite still “fancying” Dani.
Asked if they could get back together, he told ‘Good Morning Britain’: “I don’t think so, no. There are a lot of feelings there, we have been through a lot together … oh yeah, of course I still fancy her.”
The reality star, who admitted he hasn’t spoken to his ex’s famous father Danny Dyer since the split, will always have “a lot of love” for his former flame, despite their lives pulling them in different directions.
He explained: “I am always going to have a lot of love for her, we are on good terms and stuff. It’s just life, it didn’t work out. I wish her all the best. I genuinely mean that. I hope she is happy, I want her to be happy.”
Jack also hit out at anyone claiming their relationship was a sham set up for the sake of the programme and their careers.
He argued: “I can honestly say never would I do anything for show like that, I haven’t got the heart for it. I would get too upset.”
The couple – who first split in early December before reconciling a week later – recently announced they had ended their romance again.
In a statement on Instagram, Jack wrote: “There is no easy way to say this and it isn’t going to be an easy time but me and Dani are not in a relationship anymore.
“We will always care a lot for each other and have love for each other and I mean that from the bottom of my heart and I wish her nothing but happiness.
“We have some amazing memories together and have been through a lot but sometimes things aren’t meant to be and we really did try to make it work but it unfortunately didn’t and that is life.
“That’s all I have to say, a break up is hard enough as it is for both of us let alone in the public eye so I hope everyone is considerate and understands this. (sic)”

Jake Wood thanks Barbara Windsor for help during early EastEnders days

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Wood is grateful to Dame Barbara Windsor for taking him under her wing ahead of his “daunting” ‘EastEnders’ debut.
The soap star joined the BBC One show over a decade ago, and he has admitted his legendary co-star – who is living with dementia after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014 – gave him “lots of advice” to make his early days on set as relaxed as possible.
Jake will join the likes of Adam Woodyatt, Natalie Cassidy and Barbara’s husband Scott Mitchell to run the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon on April 28 as team Barbara’s Revolutionaries.
They are taking on the challenge in aid of the Dementia Revolution campaign from Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Speaking on the group’s official Twitter account, he added: “It’s been very tough the last couple of years for them [Barbara and Scott], and spending time with them you sort of see the effects that Barbara’s dementia has had, not only on Barbara but also on Scott. I just wanted to something really as a result of seeing what they’re going through.”
He also praised the actress as a “legend” across the country, and said her popularity extends well beyond Albert Square.
He said: “Barbara is such a well-loved figure in this country isn’t she? Not just by all of us at ‘EastEnders’ but by the whole nation. She’s a legend.”
