Alex Ross Perry adapting Stephen King’s Rest Stop

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Ross Perry is adapting Stephen King’s short story ‘Rest Stop’ for the big screen.
The 34-year-old indie filmmaker will be writing the screenplay for the iconic author’s 2003 story, which was originally published in Esquire magazine and later featured in the horror writer’s 2008 collection ‘Just After Sunset’.
The ‘Her Smell’ director will also helm the project, which follows author John Dykstra, who writes under the pen name Rick Hardin.
The writer overhears a couple arguing in a rest stop bathroom and the sounds of domestic abuse – and although he is too timid to act, his tougher alter-ego Rick intervenes and attacks the man with a tire iron, sparking a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse.
The latest of the legendary author’s novels to be adapted for the big screen was the 1983 book ‘Pet Semetery’ which stars Jason Clarke as Dr. Louis Creed and Amy Seimetz as his wife Rachel.
The story follows a family that discovers a mysterious graveyard in the woods behind their new home which has the ability to bring animals back to life.
Jason, 49, previously admitted that he was “out of his mind” about certain scenes in the film – which has been directed by Kevin Kolsch – as they are not part of the book and he worried they could be “more wrong than right”.
When asked which scene he was most nervous about shooting, he said: “There are a couple of big sequences in there, there was a lot of pressure to try and find them and even in the fact that we didn’t know what was the right version of them.
“Then there’s other scenes we shot and their not really in the book properly and we sort of are explaining what’s going on which was terrifying. Because that’s one of the big jumps in the film you can really lose the audience there you can make more wrong than right so I was out of my mind about those scenes.”

Aaron Sidwell engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Aaron Sidwell has got engaged.
The 30-year-old actor – who previously portrayed psycho Steven Beale in ‘EastEnders’ – has popped the question to his long-term partner and ‘Benidorm’ stage show actress Tricia Adele Turner, and he was delighted she agreed to be his wife.
Aaron took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and Tricia smooching on London’s Carnaby Street, and he captioned the image: “Here’s to the future Mrs Sidwell #SheSaidYes (sic)”
The location has significance as the love-struck duo first met when working on ‘Carnaby Street: The Musical.’
The actor’s former castmates Tilly Keeper (Louise Mitchell), James Bye (Martin Fowler) and Harry Reid – who played Ben Mitchell before Max Bowden took on the role – sent their best wishes to the couple online.
Harry wrote: “My boy (sic)”
James added: “Congrats Ste-bo (sic)”
Tilly wrote on Twitter: “so so happy for the two of you (sic)
Aaron’s character Steven was killed off in 2017 when his alter-ego died from smoke inhalation caused by a fire he started, and the actor later revealed he wouldn’t be signing up to another soap anytime soon.
He previously said: “I don’t want to do a soap again. It wasn’t a discipline I enjoyed. I mean, I admire the actors on there who are so instinctive that they can do it, but I was definitely ready to go.
“There was a lot of negativity around, and my storylines did meander for me. I also think the soap actors can sometimes get taken for granted too.”
Aaron has also described killing off his character as an “odd decision”.

Vicky McClure fears dementia

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky McClure fears she could get dementia.
The 35-year-old actress – whose grandmother Iris passed away in 2015 after suffering from the debilitating condition – has brought together singers who all have some form of dementia for the two-part documentary ‘My Dementia Choir’, and admitted she has considered the possibility she could be diagnosed with the memory-declining condition, but doesn’t want to dwell on such thoughts.
She said: “I’ve got to be open in this process. I can’t not ask those awkward questions. It’s an obvious question, seeing as it seems to run in the family now. It is what it is.
“I don’t know what I’m going to die of. It could be dementia.
“I’ve thought of it but what can you do about it? Of course there’s going to be that fear it could be me.
“I did get asked in the documentary, we did discuss it. You can have a test that can potentially give you an idea whether or not you might hold the gene or have the possibility of getting dementia. I would not want to know.”
While the ‘Line of Duty’ star has spoken openly about her fears, she doesn’t want to dwell on what may or may not happen because “life is too short”.
He said: “I’d rather just let life do what it’s gonna do. I could get hit by a bus. Life is too short to sit there waiting, after this person has said because I have had a test, this is going to happen.
“You’ve just got to live your life and enjoy every day.”
The documentary examines how dementia sufferers can be helped by better funding, more research and technology.
And Vicky recalled of how her grandmother Iris – who had a “cracking” sense of humour – lost her personality to dementia but admitted music therapy helped her change her mood.
The actress said: “She had a cracking sense of humour and a very dirty laugh. The dementia stripped all that – it leaves the shell of you.
“I also saw how music helped, changing her mood, calming her down and for a while bringing us back the old Nana.”

Sophie Thompson teases possible Coronation Street return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Thompson has hinted she could return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The ‘Harry Potter’ star portrayed physic Rosemary Piper on the ITV soap from March to June 2018, when the calculated character conspired with Lewis Archer (Nigel Havers) in a scheme against Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth), and she has teased fans that her dodgy alter-ego could be back on the cobbles at some point soon.
When asked about potentially heading back to Weatherfield during an appearance on ‘Lorraine’, which was being guest presented by Christine Lampard, she said: “Well, Christine, Rosemary – she didn’t die, that’s all I’m saying.”
Sophie took inspiration from several legendary female ‘Corrie’ characters, such as Hilda Ogden (Jean Alexander) during her portrayal of Rosemary.
She said: “I was really inspired by all the women on ‘Corrie’.
“Hilda was there for me. She gave me hope, she created this wonderful woman, the costume and the way she spoke.”
And Sophie is such a big fan of the programme she even replicates the famous Betty’s Hot Pot, the signature dish former Rovers Return landlady and barmaid Betty Williams – who was played by the late Betty Driver – made up of chopped and fried lamb, potatoes and onion.
Betty used to cook up her delicacy for the fictional boozer’s customers, who would be regularly seen ordering a hot pot.
She said: “The comedy and the strength of these women … I was in love with Bet and her hot pot, I did a recipe book with Betty’s hot pot in there – that’s how much of a fan I am.”
The former ‘EastEnders’ star – who played Stella Crawford in the BBC One soap from 2006 to 2007 – previously admitted it is a “strange sensation” joining a soap because serial dramas move at such a fast pace.
She said: “Soap is such an extraordinary thing as you have to get on a bus that’s moving at quite a speed so it’s such a strange sensation.
“It’s like a curious merge, and I always find merging on the motorway quite discombobulating and that merge in work terms is also discombobulating although they’re all so welcoming there, but it’s strange, there’s no getting away from it.”

Love Island set to start filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Flack has revealed ‘Love Island’ will start filming this week.
The 39-year-old presenter is “really excited” for the coming few days because she will get to meet the crop of contestants who will be heading out to Majorca to find love in the famous villas over the coming months.
In a video uploaded to her Instagram account, Caroline said: “What’s really exciting about this week is that we start filming for ‘Love Island’ 2019.
“And by the end of the week I’m going to have potentially have seen the cast for this year which is really exciting – and mad that’s it’s come around this fast.
So I’ll let you know what happens. It’s going to be a mad, hot summer and all that.”
An air date for the ITV2 dating show has yet to be confirmed, but in previous years, it has broadcast from June.
Just a week after last year’s show – which was won by Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer – came to an end, it was revealed producers had already received 25,000 applications for hopefuls waiting to be a part of the 2019 show.
Caroline said at the time: “If you think you have what it takes to flirt outrageously with people like this lot then applications for next year are now open. We’ve already had 25,000 people register.”
The show has recently come under scrutiny following the suicides of former contestants Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon and bosses recently pledged to make changes and offer hopefuls more support.
Richard Cowles, creative director of ITV Studios, wrote in a letter: “When something so awful happens we naturally enter a period of soul searching and ask whether anything could have been done. This review has led us to extend our support processes to offer therapy to all Islanders and not only those that reach out to us. And we will be delivering bespoke training to all future Islanders to include social media and financial management.
“The key focus will be for us to no longer be reliant on the Islanders asking us for support but for us to proactively check in with them on a regular basis … We work with an independent GP and a psychological consultant to provide an assessment of the physical and mental health of each of the shortlisted cast members and their suitability for inclusion.”

Mark Ruffalo got ‘dummy script’ for Avengers: Endgame

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ruffalo got a “dummy script” for ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
The 51-year-old actor – who plays Bruce Banner and his alter-ego The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films – admitted that in order to avoid spoilers, directors Joe and Anthony Russo gave him a script with fake scenes in it so he didn’t accidentally let any details of the highly-anticipated film slip.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday (22.04.19) he said: “I got a script, but it was a dummy. There were scenes in there that I thought we were shooting that nobody ever shot.”
Mark went on to insist that he’s been “dying” to see the film – which will wrap up phase three of the MCU and see an end to 21 films and 11 franchises taking place over the course of a decade – because he held off seeing previews because he wanted to “experience” the screening in a full cinema.
“I’ve been dying to see it. We had a chance to see it yesterday, but I held off because I want to see it with an audience, I want to be in that experience with you guys. Yeah, that’s when it really means something.”
Anthony, 49, insisted that he and his brother Joe feel they’re doing the cast a “favour” with the fake scripts by making it easier to keep secrets.
He explained: “It’s like doing them a favour, because it’s hard to keep secrets, it’s hard to keep your mouth closed.
“We spend all day, everyday, doing this for like, the past couple years. So it’s hard not to talk about what you spend all your time doing. It’s a little bit of a mercy we give them by not giving them too much information.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz’s fiancé Ben Ofoedu finds his partner even more “sexy” now she is “happy” with her three-stone weight loss.
The 57-year-old TV star recently underwent a gastric bypass, which took four hours longer than expected, to have her gastric band removed, and Ben – who she has been engaged to for 12 years – says he finds it attractive when women are confident in themselves.
Speaking to the latest issue of OK! Magazine, Ben said: “What’s sexy to me is someone who is happy in themselves, so when Vanessa is happy so am I.”
Vanessa is over the moon with her weight loss and admitted it “feels too good to be true”.
She said: “I’ve lost three stone – it feels too good to be true.
“I can’t tell you how good it feels to fit into a pair of skinny jeans.”
On the complications she had, Vanessa – who has two daughters Allegra, 33, and Saskia, 30, with her first husband, surgeon Dr Michael Kurer – said: “I was supposed to be in surgery for an hour but it ended up taking five!”
Ben recalled: “I was at home with Saskia [Vanessa’s daughter] waiting for news and I was going out of my mind not knowing what was happening. In the end I ran to the hospital and demanded an update.”
The BBC Radio 2 presenter first had surgery in 2010, but she developed gastroesophageal reflux six years later, and so she wanted to have her band removed.
Vanessa said the condition, which affects the eyes, ears, nose and mouth, made her feel like she was “drowning”.
She said: “It felt like I was drowning.”
Meanwhile, the couple previously revealed that they are saving up to get married after Vanessa blew all of her money on surgery – and that’s still the case.
She said: “We’re saving up – I spent all the money on a gastric band that didn’t even work [laughs]!”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ actor James Bye is keen to renew his wedding vows to wife Victoria after welcoming their third child.
The 35-year-old actor – who plays Martin Fowler on the long-running BBC One soap – has revealed he and his spouse would love to get the chance to get to say their vows in front of all three of their kids, following the arrival of their son Hugo on February 20.
James – who also has Edward, five, and Louis, two, with Victoria – told the latest issue of OK! Magazine: “Yes, it would be lovely to have our children around us and for them to see us say: ‘You’re still the one.'”
The soap star says he and Victoria – who tied the knot in 2012 – are “blessed” to have three “healthy” kids and wouldn’t rule out having more.
Asked whether they plan to add to their brood, he said: “We’ve been blessed with three healthy children, so we count ourselves lucky, but never say never.”
James admitted that being a family of three has made them “closer”.
He said: “We feel closer. With three children, if you’re not a team you’d have no chance.”
The pair went through a tough time before Hugo arrived, as Victoria suffers from endometriosis, and James has recalled the “emotional” moment he jumped into the birthing pool to be the first to hold his newborn son.
Victoria recalled: “I said to James: ‘Please help me!’ I felt a big splash and James was next to me in the birthing pool.”
He added: “Being the first to hold Hugo made me so emotional.”
His wife said: “We both sat there sobbing with happiness, holding him in the birthing pool.”
Meanwhile, James’ co-star Lacey Turner – who plays his on-screen wife Stacey Slater – is currently pregnant with her first child after suffering two devastating miscarriages with husband Matt Kay, and he says he’s “always there” for the 31-year-old actress.
He said: “I’m always there for Lacey. I was over the moon for her and Matt when she told me she was pregnant.”

Hayley Tamaddon is pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Tamaddon is expecting her first child.
The 42-year-old actress – who won the 2010 series of ‘Dancing on Ice’ and is known for her roles in ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Coronation Street’ – has revealed she and her boyfriend Adrian are set to welcome a little boy or girl into the world, despite being told she would never be able to get pregnant.
Hayley – who played Del Dingle and Andrea Beckett respectively in the ITV soaps – shared the couple’s baby joy on Twitter on Easter Monday (22.04.19), and admitted they “couldn’t be happier”.
Alongside a picture of her holding her baby bump, Hayley wrote: “EXCITING NEWS TWEET!!
“I’m so pleased to tell you all…
I’m expecting my first child with my wonderful boyfriend Adrian!!
“I’ve always wanted to be a mum and didn’t think I could have children. And now, at the ripe old age of 42 – I’M PREGNANT!
We couldn’t be happier. (sic)”
Georgia Taylor – who plays Toyah Battersby on ‘Corrie’ – congratulated her former co-star.
She commented: “Oh darling congratulations! You’ll make such a lovely mum.”
Whilst ‘Dancing on Ice’ judge Jayne Torvill added to her Instagram post: “Congratulations Hayley, so pleased for you xx. (sic)”
Before meeting Adrian, the ‘Shameless’ star dated Marcus Brigstocke from 2010 until 2014 – and the comedian left his wife for Hayley.
At the time, the actress admitted she was too busy to have children and is “scared” of nappies.
She said: “My body feels 37 but I still feel 21. I sometimes forget that I’m going to be 40. It would be lovely to have kids in the future but for now my main concentration is my work.
“I’m not scared of nappies or screaming babies but I’m just not at that point.
“Not many of my friends have settled down either. I’m a workaholic. It’s always work, work, work, I can’t switch it off.”

Tara Reid enjoying ‘older’ roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Tara Reid is thankful she’s “finally” being offered “older roles”.
The 43-year-old actress found herself in a position where she was “stuck” because she wasn’t young enough to take on the parts she’d previously been known for but filmmakers didn’t see her as right for ‘mom’ roles.
But the ‘Sharknado’ star is now working on five new movies and is thankful to be enjoying a career resurgence.
She said: “I have a load of new projects in the pipeline. One with Sandra Bullock that’s going to be big and a Netflix movie coming out called ‘The Fifth Boro’.
“I’m finally getting to play older roles and that’s what I needed because I was kind of stuck. I looked too young to play the ‘mom’ yet I was too old for a ‘high school girl’.
“Everyone saw me as the girl from ‘American Pie’ but that was in my 20s and I’m in my 40s now. I’m grateful I had that moment but now I’m getting the chance to show another side of me.
“And now I have a great team behind me, I couldn’t have planned better things. It’s my time again and no one is taking it away from me.”
Tara went to rehab for alcohol abuse in 2008 but is unimpressed by comparisons to her former party-loving pal Lindsay Lohan.
She said: “Lindsay was way younger than me, like 13 years younger.
“She was arrested and got into trouble on set. I’ve never been arrested, never been in trouble on set.
“When you’re off work, you’re allowed to play, you’re allowed to have fun. But when I work, I work and I don’t go out.”

Jennifer Lawrence set to star as a war veteran in new movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence is set to star as a war veteran in her latest movie project.
The Oscar-winning star has joined forces with acclaimed theatre director Lila Neugebauer for an as-yet-untitled movie that will see her play the role of a US solider who suffers a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan.
Jennifer’s on-screen character struggles to recover from her injuries upon her return home, according to Collider.
The film is being produced by Oscar winner Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, with production set to begin in June in New Orleans.
Jennifer could star in the movie alongside ‘Atlanta’ star Brian Tyree Henry, who has already held discussions about taking on the role of the male lead.
Meanwhile, Jennifer revealed plans to take a career break back in 2017.
Announcing her hiatus two years ago, the ‘Red Sparrow’ star said: “I’m taking [a break]. I don’t have anything set for two years.”
And asked what she’ll do with her time off, she quipped: “Start making pots.”
During her break, Jennifer actually got engaged to art gallery director Cooke Maroney.
And an insider recently speculated that her wedding will be a “family affair”.
The source said: “[Jennifer is a] family girl. I would be surprised if the wedding were not a fairly extensive family affair.”

Taron Egerton: Rocketman is ‘explicit’

OHMYGOSSIP — Taron Egerton has admitted the sex scenes in ‘Rocketman’ are “pretty explicit”.
The 29-year-old actor portrays Sir Elton John opposite Richard Madden as his lover and manager John Reid in the upcoming biopic and he insisted it was important to make the film a “wholehearted celebration” of the singer’s sexuality, even if that meant sacrificing its appeal at the global box office.
He said: “Well, the stuff we shot was pretty explicit. I mean, that’s why I made the film. Those scenes are desperately important when you have an icon of that magnitude, who means so much to one community.
“[Elton] has been such a standard bearer. And for me, especially as a heterosexual actor, not to push the envelope as far as I can or try to make it a wholehearted celebration of being a gay man would be wrong.
“It’s a studio movie. It’s Elton John. We’ve got to own that. I don’t care how well the film does in Russia. It doesn’t matter. It can’t matter. What’s an extra $25 million at the box office? What are you willing to do for that? Sacrifice sleeping at night because you watered the whole thing down?”
And the movie’s producer, the ‘Candle in the Wind’ singer’s husband David Furnish, admitted he would “strongly resist” any attempts to tone down the references to Elton’s sexuality to make the film more appealing.
He told Britain’s GQ magazine: “International cinema is complicated and sadly the world isn’t a homogenous place. I heard ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is going to China with any reference to Freddie being gay taken out of it.
“Well, you can’t do that with our film, I’ll tell you that. It’s integral to Elton’s journey as an individual and as an artist. I would strongly resist any sanitisation.
“The world continues to need to evolve and grow in the right direction. As it goes into that international distribution and marketing machine, you just have to do your best to preserve the integrity.”

Clint Eastwood to direct The Ballad Of Richard Jewell?

OHMYGOSSIP — Clint Eastwood has reportedly held talks about directing ‘The Ballad Of Richard Jewell’.
The 88-year-old icon has been in negotiations with Disney/Fox about his potential involvement with the project, which focuses on the Olympic Park bombing during the 1996 Atlanta Games.
The movie specifically centres on the story of a security guard whose life is transformed after the police leaked that he was a suspect in the incident, according to Deadline.
Jewell – who found a suspicious backpack in the Olympic Park, before clearing the area and saving lives – quickly went from being considered a hero, to one of the most disliked people in the US.
The script has been penned by Billy Ray, who previously wrote 2013’s ‘Captain Phillips’.
Meanwhile, Clint previously insisted he doesn’t have any intention to retire from the movie business, although he is planning to be more selective about his projects in the coming years.
He explained: “Maybe I just don’t want a certain volume of work, but, no, it hasn’t lessened. I love what I do…
“I’ll probably keep on going. I feel good, but it depends on material. I probably wouldn’t do something just because it was marginal – I have to kind of think it has some validity and has some relationship to today.”
