Ed Sheeran helps turn Himesh Patel into ‘fantastic performer’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has helped turn Himesh Patel into a “fantastic performer”.
The singer/songwriter and composer Daniel Pemberton worked alongside the former ‘EastEnders’ actor for new Danny Boyle movie ‘Yesterday’, and while the 28-year-old star was “a bit reticent” to start with, he is now much nearer to pop star quality.
Daniel told the Daily Star newspaper: “Himesh has been phenomenal. He’s gone from being a bit reticent to shy to being a fantastic performer.
“Danny wanted me to work with the main actor and turn him into a superstar, he was really adamant.
“We worked with Himesh all the way through from buying his first guitar in the shops, so finding one he could love and learn to play with, to sending him out busking and playing the songs.”
Himesh stars as a struggling songwriter Jack Malik who, after an accident, ends up in a world where nobody has heard of The Beatles, apart from him, so he sets about cashing in.
And Daniel admitted Ed was “really supportive” in Himesh’s quest to get into character.
He added: “Ed and Himesh had quite a lot of chats, he was really supportive.”
Himesh looks set for a busy 2019 as in December it was revealed he had been cast in new BBC Two period drama ‘The Luminaries’, alongside Ewen Leslie, Eve Hewson, and Eva Green.
The star’s singer/songwriter movie part is a far cry from his role as hapless market inspector Tamwar Masood in ‘EastEnders’.
He portrayed the role from 2007 to 2016, and his alter-ego recently got engaged off-screen.
Himesh previously admitted that while he was “sad” to leave Walford, it was the “right time” for him to make the move.
He said: “It was definitely the right time to leave.
“So it wasn’t like I was being pulled away from something that I was holding onto for dear life.
“But it was sad to leave people behind that I really loved, and had spent a lot of time with, and it was scary, because I’d been there since I was 16.
“So it was very scary to leave and venture forth, with no idea of what would come my way.”

This Morning in chaos as escaped ants cause havoc in studio

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby started ‘This Morning’ “mid-trauma” as escaped ants caused chaos in the studio.
The ITV daytime programme’s team were lucky to have co-host Holly – who stepped in for Ant McPartlin to present Australian jungle show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ last year – on hand to “alert” them to the bugs who had managed to get out of their tank when the show went live on air on Thursday morning (25.04.19).
Phillip’s piece-to-camera started with him telling viewers: “Welcome to ‘This Morning’. You join us mid-trauma today. There’s been an escape in the studio. We’ve got a big bug item coming up later on in the studio.”
Holly interrupted him to point out that she was the one who discovered the ants were on the loose.
She said: “Can I just say, who alerted everyone to the bug item? Me.
“I came in to have a look at the tanks, get myself familiar with the bugs that are here. We’ve got cockroaches and beetles.
“Then I looked in the ant tank. There were no ants in the ant tank. Where are they?”
There were seven ants in total and only three of them had been found, however, Holly shared an update that a fourth had been returned to its tank.
Phillip added: “Hopefully by the time we come to the item we will have enough ants.”
‘This Morning’ had several creepy crawlies in the studio for a segment on the show and the team were seen desperately trying to hide away or retrieve the ants.
The show’s resident doctor, Dr. Ranj Singh, may have squished some of the unwanted “guests”.
Phillip said: “Ranj comes stomping in – it’s like ‘no there are guests on the floor’.”
During chef John Torode’s part of the show, Philip threw down a piece of asparagus – which they had previously used to determine the sex of The Duchess of Sussex’s unborn baby – and quipped that he was trying to use the green vegetable to determine if the ants were back in their tank or not.
He joked: “I just want to know if were going to find all the ants. Yeah there’s an A in there. I am the Asparamancer.”

Olivia Bromley expecting ‘hate’ from fans over Emmerdale storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Bromley is expecting “a bit of hate” from fans over her ‘Emmerdale’ storyline.
The actress currently stars in the ITV soap as Dawn Taylor, and has admitted fans could be left feeling angered by her current storyline, which sees Dawn continue to help her father Will – played by Dean Andrews – with his evil revenge plan.
Recent episodes have shown Dawn plot with her father, who’s stalking Harriet Finch (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) as part of his malicious plan.
Dawn has grown close to Harriet over the past few months in order to do Will’s dirty work, and has even lied that he’s dead in order to throw her off the scent.
But as things progress, Olivia knows her character is in for a bumpy ride when it comes to fan reactions, and is well prepared for the “hate” she might get thanks to Dawn’s actions.
Asked about the possibility of ‘Emmerdale’ fans turning against Dawn, Olivia said: “They probably will. But that doesn’t bother me as an actor, because I think it’s fun to play these parts where you’re not always going to be popular.
“A real character has these flaws and Dawn is a really complicated character. What’s been really nice about what I’ve done so far is that when I came in, Dawn wasn’t exactly likeable. She was hard, she was a heroin addict and people weren’t sure of her.
“She was also involved with Ross, who is a very popular character and she was dragging him down a bit. Then people were slowly starting to warm to her, which has been really nice because it’s been a little bit less judgemental.
“Now I’m sure there will be a bit of hate! But it’s real stories and no-one’s perfect.”
Next week’s episodes are set to see Dawn start to have second thoughts over the way Will is treating Harriet, but is pushed to prove her loyalty with a shocking demand.
Speaking to DigitalSpy, Olivia said: “Dawn is torn throughout the whole thing, really, but her loyalty is with her father. She has held to that while he’s been in prison.
“The whole reason that she came back to the village was to get revenge on Harriet, so the whole way through, she has had this nagging feeling.
“But I don’t think she expected to connect with Harriet in the way she did. Especially there is the issue with her son, because Harriet can help her out in that way. Harriet has been so good to her that Dawn has realised: ‘I’m not the one who wants this revenge, it’s my dad’.”

Amy Pohler had ’20 years of rehearsal’ for Wine Country

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Poehler says she’s had “20 years of rehearsal” to make ‘Wine Country’.
The 47-year-old actress-and-comedian is making her directorial debut with the new Netflix comedy which features her friends and co-stars Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, Jason Schwartzman and Tina Fey.
The comedy film follows a group of friends as they head to Napa, California, to celebrate a 50th birthday and shooting is underway, with Los Angeles and Napa being used as locations.
‘Parks and Recreation’ star Poehler believes that she and her cast have been working towards this film for a long time due to their appearances in each other’s projects and work on ‘Saturday Night Live’.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “To be in control and start and finish a project from beginning to end. That’s what turns me on right now.
“I like to brag that we had 20 years of rehearsal basically. A lot of my work [as a director] was slowing everybody down, reminding them that they didn’t have to come in and score.
“Because these ladies are assassins. They parachute in to other people’s movies and they’re the funniest part of the movie. They just kill. But many of them have not necessarily been in the entirety of a movie, with a continuing arc that we’re going to stick with.”
Poehler feels incredibly lucky to be around so many “supportive, interesting women” who don’t feel as though they’re in competition with each other.
She said: “I’ve had the incredible good fortune of being around supportive, interesting women who are not looking to take each other down. And I am a very competitive person. But it’s never in response or reaction to somebody else’s successes or failures.”

Mark Ruffalo forgot he starred with Brie Larson in 13 Going On 30

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ruffalo had no idea he starred with Brie Larson in ’13 Going On 30′.
The 51-year-old actor stars as Bruce Banner – who transforms into The Hulk – alongside Brie, 29, as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in Marvel Cinematic Universe ensemble blockbuster ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Mark thought it was the first time he worked with Brie as he didn’t realise that she’d had a small role as one of the mean girl gang the ‘Six Chicks’ in the 2004 film – which celebrated its 15th anniversary on Tuesday (23.04.19).
When shown a picture of Brie in the film by ET Online, he said: “She was a mean girl! Oh my god, that’s amazing. I didn’t know that. It looks a lot like her. It is her! How cool, I didn’t know that. Did she talk about that?”
The interviewer mentioned that being on the film’s set inspired Brie to become a director to which he responded: “Gary Winick directed that, rest in peace Gary. That was a lovely little movie.”
Brie previously admitted she can vividly remember how fascinated she became by the filmmaking process because of her stint on ’13 Going On 30′.
The Hollywood beauty – who helmed 2017 fantasy comedy film ‘Unicorn Store’, in which she also starred – said: “I was [in ’13 Going On 30′]. I remember it was like the moment when I realised that I really wanted to direct. I remember paying a lot of attention to where the camera was and the camera moves, thinking about how I would have cut it together and then seeing the movie and seeing how it differed from what I thought.”

Chris Packham blasts Simon Cowell for Barclaycard advert

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Packham has blasted Simon Cowell for his Antarctica Barclaycard advert.
The 57-year-old naturalist has criticised the 59-year-old television judge for signing a deal with the credit card company and starring in the TV promo, which has been slammed for funding fossil fuel extraction.
The clip shows the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ boss launching a talent show in continent to promote the bank’s new online repayment calculator.
Chris is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “I am very surprised Simon didn’t solicit better advice about this and how it would understandably enrage and disappoint those hoping that high-profile public figures would get on board with the message about addressing climate change.”
MP Caroline Lucas – who is a member of the British Green Party – also publicly criticised Barclays for “funnelling millions into dirty energy for years” and deemed the advertisement as “offensive.”
She said: “Barclays has knowingly been funnelling millions into dirty energy for years now, so this advertisement is deeply offensive.”
Anna McMorrin – Labour MP for Cardiff North and co-chair of the Parliamentary Climate Change group – blasted Cowell’s uncaring presence in the advert.
She said: “At first, I thought they were trying to at least reach out to people caring about the climate.
“But, it’s just men sitting in a board room, man-splaining, flying all over the world, not caring about climate change.”
Non-profit organisation Greenpeace UK described the bank as “the worst bank in Europe for funding fossil fuels”
Barclays has defended themselves and insisted that they offer a “balanced” approach which gives support for clients operating in energy sectors.
They said: “Our approach balances the need to accelerate the transition away from the most carbon intensive fossil fuel sources with ongoing support for clients operating responsibly in energy sectors that are expected to contribute significantly to the world’s energy mix.”

Malin Andersson thinks Love Island should take break after Mike Thalassitis’ death

OHMYGOSSIP — Malin Andersson doesn’t think ‘Love Island’ should air this summer after Mike Thalassitis’ suicide.
The 26-year-old beauty, who appeared in the 2016 series of the ITV2 reality dating show, used Twitter to ask her followers whether or not it should take a break, following the tragic death of Mike – who passed away last month, aged 26 – and admitted she feels “the bad outweighs the good” in regards to wether the popular programme should return to screens so soon.
She asked her 435.8k followers: “Do you think Love Island should air this summer? (sic)”
She then wrote: “I reckon the bad outweighs the good (sic)”
Some of Malin’s fans felt it would be unnecessary to place the programme on hold, whilst others expressed that the show should be taken off air completely.
Mike was not the first ‘Love Island’ contestant to take their own life.
Sophie Gradon – who starred on the show the same year as Malin – was found dead in her flat last June.
Malin previously deemed the show’s aftercare “not enough” after Sophie’s death.
She said: “I don’t blame the show itself, because we asked to go on it, but I think the care received wasn’t enough.
“If someone is crying for help, like Sophie kind of did, and asked for help after it, with a psychiatrist or whatever. I think that they should have noted that and realised.
“We have psych tests before the show, to see if we’re fit to be in the villa. But afterwards, we need more support coming out.”
The brunette beauty thinks reality TV is a “weird industry” and can understand why people who are thrown into the limelight like that develop depression when it’s over.
She explained: “It’s like you’re constantly reaching for some kind of high and when work dies down and things go quiet you’re constantly trying to chase it – and that’s where depression can kick in. A lot of fellow friends that have been on shows have said the same, and it’s something that’s not looked into as much. It’s really serious. I’ve been there myself and it’s horrible.”

Shila Iqbal questions ‘fairness’ of Emmerdale firing

OHMYGOSSIP — Shila Iqbal has questioned whether it was “fair” for ‘Emmerdale’ to axe her over past tweets.
The 24-year-old actress was sacked from the ITV soap – on which she portrayed Aiesha Richards – earlier this month after it was revealed she had posted controversial tweets in 2012, but she insists there was “no malicious intent” behind the messages, and the star believes she should be judged on “the person you are today”.
Asked on ‘This Morning’ if she has been treated “fairly”, she said: “It’s a tricky one. I think ITV have a moral obligation to do what’s right by the public and I respect their decision … but I do question, ‘Is it fair that I’ve been judged on something I did as a teenager?’
“If we do look at the context and the intentions, there was no negative intention behind there. I wasn’t hurling abuse at anyone. I made a mistake, and that is not who I am.
“I think if the person has changed and shown remorse, and attitudes have changed, then no you shouldn’t be judged on that.
“You should be judged on the person you are today.”
When asked by co-host Phillip Schofield if Shila felt it was “OK in [her] head to say those words” when she wrote the tweets, which he said were described as “racist and homophobic”, she said: “I think at the time, there was no malicious intent behind the tweets.
“It was a conversation, banter in a way, between my group of friends.
“It was heavily influenced by the music, the hip hop and rap music we listened to, and our surroundings. And that did help determine the language we did use, and we did use it freely, although very wrongly.
“I don’t think I understood the true meanings behind them, and the implications, and the hurt that those words have caused.”
‘Emmerdale’ producers called Shila into their office to show her the tweets, and afterwards told her they would not be renewing her contract, and the actress “couldn’t believe” what was happening.
She said: “I just felt like I was dreaming. I do not condone the use of those words, they’re not in my vocabulary anymore. I wouldn’t dream of using them anymore.
“For them to be right there in front of me I couldn’t believe it. And I couldn’t believe what was happening. I knew it was completely wrong.”
Shila now wants to help raise awareness to the younger generation about taking a “moral responsibility” about using “language appropriately”, and insists she doesn’t use such language anymore.
She added: “I’ve grown and I’ve matured and I’ve become educated, six/ seven years later, I’m now a professional actor.
“I wasn’t at that time. I didn’t have the responsibilities that I do.
“I know now that young people will look up to me and what I say can influence them and I think that’s very important.
“I do own up to the fact I used inappropriate language. I don’t do that anymore, I don’t speak like that anymore.”
Earlier this month, a representative for ‘Emmerdale’ said: “As a consequence of historic social media posts Shila Iqbal has left her role as Aiesha Richards on ‘Emmerdale’.
“The programme took the decision not to renew her contract as soon as these posts were brought to the company’s attention.”

‘Child’s Play’ producer says film has ‘intensity’and ‘gore’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Child’s Play’ producer Seth Grahame-Smith had “big ambitions” for the film.
The upcoming Orion Pictures revival of franchise – which will see Mark Hamill voice the iconic horror doll Chucky – promises “something different” to the original series and not only does it “really deliver” in the emotional stakes, there’s also a lot of “intensity and gore”.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, the producer said: “We sort of lean into more of the AI/Kaslan story and hint at a Chucky that is driven by something different than he is in the original series, when he’s Charles Lee Ray and he’s just a truly psychopathic killer in the body of a doll.
“[Also, there is] the mother/son story, the emotional component of the movie, which I feel like the movie really delivers.
“Then above all that, just the intensity, the gore, the fact that the movie is rated R, that it really does go there when it goes there.
“I think the movie looks big, is much bigger than a lot of movies that are our size – very affordable movie, we are. But we had big ambitions. Those are, I’d say, the primary things we’re going for.”
The forthcoming film will use the same plot as the original 1988 film – in which Chucky was voiced by Brad Dourif – and star Aubrey Plaza, 34, as Karen Barclay a mother who unwittingly gives her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a toy doll that hides the soul of a serial killer.
In the original film, Andy’s mother gives him a talking Buddy doll, however, in the remake Buddy is an “Artificial Intelligence human companion” manufactured by the Kaslan Corp, the world’s leading developer of interactive tech products for home and lifestyle.

Kevin Feige ‘got chills’ when Avengers assembled for first time

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Feige says he “got chills” when the Avengers assembled for the first time.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ is released Thursday (25.04.19) and will wrap up 21 films and 11 franchises taking place over a decade, and will complete phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Marvel Studios President explained that he knew the franchise would be a success while making 2012’s ‘The Avengers’ – when the movies heroes were brought together for the first time – and praised the film’s director Joss Whedon for “pulling it off” and creating an “iconic moment” in cinema.
Speaking in a video for Rotten Tomatoes, he said: “That shot, the shot of all the Avengers assembling for the first time, was so much spectacle, so many visual effects
“It was filmed in an open air warehouse in New Mexico, not in New York. There was nothing but green screen behind them.
“Hulk wasn’t in the shot. Iron Man wasn’t in the shot because they were CG and put in later, but it looked pretty cool and Joss had a great vision for it.
“Cut too many months later, the visual effects are coming together, it’s starting to look cool, Iron Man’s now landing, Hulk’s there.
” But the moment when I realised that this could be an iconic moment not just for the MCU, but for these kinds of films, was on the mix stage.
“You get the experience of watching the final playback on the mix stage with Silvestri’s amazing score building to that moment and I got chills. And I realised Joss had pulled it off.”
But while the studio had “high expectations” for the franchise, Kevin admitted it still went beyond their “wildest” projections.
“We had high expectations for what the movie could be and the way the audience responded and the box office numbers behind it exceeded even our wildest expectations.”

Tulisa Contostavlos addresses X Factor speculation

OHMYGOSSIP — Tulisa Contostavlos has addressed speculation she may return to ‘The X Factor’ – admitting she hasn’t held talks about one of the vacant judging panel spots.
The 30-year-old singer, who was a panellist on the ITV show from 2011 to 2012, has been linked with a return to the programme recently after showbiz power couple Robbie Williams and Ayda Field announced their decision to quit the show as judges, but she is yet to speak to show boss Simon Cowell.
Quizzed on whether an ‘X Factor’ return could be on the cards, she said: “I haven’t spoken to them. There haven’t been any conversations about it.”
But Tulisa – who shot to fame with successful hip hop group N-Dubz in the Noughties – admits she “loved doing the show” and is “eternally grateful” to the programme for putting her on a bigger platform.
She said: “Of course, ‘X Factor’ was such a life changing thing for me. It really put me on a platform that I’m eternally grateful for.
“I love the show, I loved doing the show. It’s an incredible process being part of changing people’s lives.
“Being a part of that even, I get to look at Little Mix now and I get to be part of that.”
Tulisa tasted success on ‘The X Factor’ when her act Little Mix, who she used to refer to as her “little muffins”, won the competition in her debut year as a judge.
And the ‘Young’ hitmaker believes the girl group were always destined to do well because they have so much talent.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “You need the talent though and that’s what they had.
“The mixture was there and you just had to whip it up into the perfect muffin.”
Last June, Tulisa offered words of advice to Ayda just days before it was confirmed she would be a judge on last year’s ‘X Factor’.
She said: “I think the hardest part of the show, it’s logical to anyone, it does become more so about you than the show when you’re a judge. In terms of the invasion of privacy.
“The important thing is to always keep your eye on the ball. Someone’s life is in your hands in terms of an artist on the stage.
“What you do is going to affect their career for the rest of their life, so always keep your eye on the ball. That’s the hardest.”

Gwyneth Paltrow jokes she’s the ‘grandma’ of MCU

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow feels like “the grandma” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 46-year-old actress – who has played the girlfriend of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Pepper Potts, in the movie series since the first ‘Iron Man’ movie back in 2008 – joked that she and her co-star 54-year-old co-star are the “grandparents” of the franchise and insisted she had “no idea” the MCU would go on for as long as it has.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ world premiere in Los Angeles on Monday (22.04.19) she said: “It’s pretty cool, you know?
“I think when we did [the first] ‘Iron Man’, Marvel had no idea what it would be, and this level of success it would have, and all the other movies that would come out of it, so it’s pretty cool.
“I mean yeah, we kind of feel like the parents or grandparents at this point, but it’s pretty awesome.”
‘Avengers: Endgame’ is set to wrap up phase three of the MCU and see an end to 21 films and 11 franchises taking place over the course of a decade and Gwyneth explained that although she would “always” be willing to return to the MCU – she feels she’s “off to other Marvel pastures” adding that “they don’t tell me anything”.
She quipped: “I thought we were done? Look I would always [come back] if they needed me, but I think, you know, the movie is called Endgame.
“I feel like maybe we’re off to other Marvel pastures, I don’t really know, they don’t tell me anything. And all the scripts are redacted and everything, so it’s a very secret process.”

Lauren Goodger up for TOWIE 10-year reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger would return to ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ for a 10-year reunion show.
The 32-year-old reality star was an original member of the series when the programme began in 2010, leaving two years later, and she would go back to the show because she was a “huge part” of the reality series, but wouldn’t be a permanent cast member because there’s “too much drama”.
When a fan asked if she would join a reunion show during an Instagram Q&A, Lauren replied: “Of course series 1 won a bafter [BAFTA] and made it was it is today. I was a huge part. (sic)”
Following her response, another fan urged her to rejoin the reality series as it needs “livening up”.
But Lauren quipped: “Too much drama I’d be involved in HHahaha. (sic)”
Lauren was known on the show for her explosives row with ex-boyfriend Mark Wright – who is now married to TV star Michelle Keegan – and last year she split from jailbird Joey Morrison.
She said afterwards: “I wait it out longer than I should until I’m done and then I get over it. I’ve never been single and you have one life.”
Sam Faiers recently called for ITV to make a ‘TOWIE’ 10-year anniversary show.
She said: “Ten years this September is my first ‘TOWIE’ show. ITV should do a reunion for 10 years.
“They should make one with all the cast because 10 years is a long time and so much has happened since then.
“I always know how long it’s been because I started the show when I was 19 – I’m 28 now.”

Susanna Reid ‘drinking mindfully’

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid admits she is “drinking mindfully”.
The 48-year-old TV presenter – who gave up booze last year after a heavy Ibiza trip with Judge Rinder – has opened up about lifting her alcohol ban after consuming “eight drinks in eight months”.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, radio host, Janey Lee Grace asked Susanna: “You’re drinking mindfully. Are you?”
She replied: “Yes … I’m not entirely not drinking. I’ve had eight drinks over the past eight months.
“I think there’s enough for mums to feel guilty about. After a long day when you are completely run ragged I completely remember that feeling of needing to take the edge off.”
Susanna’s co-presenter Richard Madeley – who is filling in for Piers Morgan whilst he takes a three-week break – opened up about his love of “non-alcoholic wines” and admitted he and his wife Judy went sober in November last year.
Richard said: “Well Judy and I stopped. We stopped in November. And we found fantastic non-alcoholic wines which are pretty good.
“It looks nice, it occupies the space on the table where real wine used to go … it’s a prop. Actually it looks quite civilised. You’re dealing with a habit.”
Susanna previously revealed that since becoming sober she does “miss the alcohol” sometimes.
She joked: “I can’t say what happened exactly [in Ibiza], as it’s too personal, but we went big. I do miss the alcohol at times.
“You know, you’re at the Groucho Club, there’s a party, someone brings the shots and you’re just … woo.
“I love the bacchanalia of it all, that rush of hedonism and escape.
“But then there’s the shame. I’ve had some of my best worst moments after a drink, but I don’t miss the hangxiety.”

Coronation Street director wants more Hollywood stunts in soap

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ director Matt Hilton thinks the show should feature more Hollywood-style stunts.
The TV mastermind – who has been directing the hit ITV soap since 2014 – thinks the programme needs to crank it up a notch because these days TV shows are expected to be just as impressive as films.
Matt told the Daily Star newspaper: “I think the audience expects more.
“I think with things like Netflix and Amazon, TV budgets have gone up so much now they’re more like film budgets.”
The director also thinks that even though the Manchester-based soap has a “limited set” and “limited budget”, it still needs to “keep up” with the other shows so it attracts a new generation of viewers.
He said: “‘Coronation Street’ has a limited set, a limited budget and we have limits on what we can do and what we can’t do.
“I think we have got to try and keep up with everyone. That’s the way we’ll attract different generations of viewers as well.”
While Matt wants to make ‘Coronation Street’ more visually stunning, the show will hang on to their “beloved characters”, such as Ken Barlow (William Roache).
He said: “We’ll still see Ken and we’ll still see our beloved characters but maybe we can just tell the stories in a more entertaining way or a visually more stunning way.”
This comes after it was recently revealed the soap’s guide dog Mr Quinn is retiring after six years.
The talented pooch – whose first scenes were alongside Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow) – worked with blind extra Annie Giles-Quinn, but he will no longer be pawing along the cobbles as she now has a new ‘Corrie’ canine, Miss Sally.
Bill is a huge admirer of the four-legged friend.
Annie previously spoke of the adorable animal and said: “He’s so calm and beautiful. William Roache summed it up when he said, ‘Mr Quinn looks right into your soul’.”

Gaynor Faye’s Emmerdale whiplash

OHMYGOSSIP — Gaynor Faye suffered whiplash while filming an ‘Emmerdale’ car accident stunt.
The star’s character, busy businesswoman Megan Macey, will accidentally knock into Kim Tate’s (Claire King) long-lost son Jamie Tate’s (Alexander Lincoln) motor while texting and driving, and his vehicle then runs over Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).
The two male characters are rushed to hospital following the incident, and the 47-year-old actress didn’t escape the day of filming unscathed either.
When asked how it was to shoot the scenes, she said: “It was fine for me. Ask the stunt lady and she’ll give you another answer, but it was fine for me. It was great. I just had to sit in front of a green screen and go through the motions of the crash.
“It still gave myself a bit of whiplash, though! I always just go for it because there’s nothing worse than a bad stunt or somebody looking like they haven’t actually hit something.”
But there looks set to be serious consequences for Megan as Gaynor has hinted her alter-ego may even be set for a stint in jail.
She added: “We’re filming the aftermath of it at the moment and dealing with all the guilt. The producers purposely keep it from us.
“I’m going, ‘Really? What’s going to happen?’ I might go to prison.”
But Gaynor has dropped hints about the show’s car incidents before.
In August, the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress admitted she hadn’t been on the Dales set since a big car crash, which occurred when the brakes on Frank Clayton’s (Michael Praed) new sports car were faulty, hinting her alter-ego had died.
She said at the time: “The thing is I haven’t been back and filmed anything since, I’m giving you a clue.
“Or maybe I’m just having some time off, who knows?”
