OHMYGOSSIP — James Wan is adapting Stephen King’s novel ‘Salem’s Lot’ for the big screen.
The producer is teaming up with screenwriter Gary Dauberman – who penned the script for 2017’s remake of King’s classic horror novel ‘It’ and the upcoming sequel – with whom he created some of the biggest hits in the Conjuring Universe such as ‘Annabelle’ and ‘The Nun’ to adapt the 1975 book for New Line Cinema.
The tome – which was Stephen’s first book to top the New York Times Bestseller list – follows a writer who returns to his childhood home, the town of Jerusalem’s Lot, where he discovers everyone he used to know is now a vampire.
Roy Lee and Mark Wolper will also produce while Dauberman is on board as executive producer.
‘Salem’s Lot’ was previously adapted into a 1979 miniseries and starred David Soul as the writer and Rob Lowe starred in a more recent adaptation made by TNT in 2004.
King’s stories are proving to be very popular in Hollywood once again with a new version of ‘Pet Sematary’ just released in cinemas, whilst his 2003 short story ‘Rest Stop’ will soon be adapted by Alex Ross Perry.
The 34-year-old indie filmmaker will be writing the screenplay the story, which was originally published in Esquire magazine and later featured in the horror writer’s 2008 collection ‘Just After Sunset’.
The ‘Her Smell’ director will also helm the project, which follows author John Dykstra, who writes under the pen name Rick Hardin.
The writer overhears a couple arguing in a rest stop bathroom and the sounds of domestic abuse – and although he is too timid to act, his tougher alter-ego Rick intervenes and attacks the man with a tire iron, sparking a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse.
Andy Muschietti’s ‘It – Chapter Two’ will be released in September and will see the adult members of ‘The Losers Club’ return to Maine to fight Pennywise the Dancing Clown once again.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Girl on the Train’ is set to receive a Bollywood remake.
Reliance Entertainment is set to produce the Hindi reboot of the 2016 film based on Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel and Parineeti Chopra will star as Rachel Watson, a role originally played by Emily Blunt.
The Hollywood version, directed by Tate Taylor, followed alcoholic divorcee Rachel who spends her time observing a couple she doesn’t know during her daily train commutes before finding herself in the middle of a missing person investigation involving the couple she has been obsessing over.
Production on the remake is due to begin in July and wrap by September.
Parineeti, 30, is keen to take on more challenging roles and insisted ‘The Girl on the Train’ “really worked for her” as a project.
In a statement, she said: “I want to do roles that audiences haven’t seen me in before and one’s that require a lot of prep and homework, which is why ‘The Girl on the Train’ really worked for me. The character is an alcoholic and a victim of abuse, and I haven’t explored anything like her onscreen before. I never thought I’d actually be doing a film around a book I’ve read and loved. I relate to the character because I’ve studied and worked in London, it’s my second home.”
Reliance Entertainment CEO Shibasish Sarkar added: “Not only is ‘The Girl on the Train’ one of the best psychological thrillers, but also a heartwarming story of the female protagonist and her discovery of life. We have procured the rights of the book and the film and will be adapting it from an Indian storytelling perspective. Amblin will be a partner in this film.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth always steals his Marvel props.
The 35-year-old actor has played Thor in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films since the hero’s debut in 2011 and he has confessed he has a “criminal record” on set as he’s always taking different versions of his character’s famous hammer home with him, however, his wife Elsa Pataky isn’t too keen on his collection.
In an interview on UK station BBC Radio 2, he said: “We’re not supposed t but I do take them, I stole them. My criminal record is definitely evident on that set and they watch me very closely. It’s funny I had a couple of the hammers and I have them and I keep putting them on the display in the house and my wife’s like, ‘Get them down, they’re ridiculous.’ ”
Chris – who has three children, India Rose, six, and five-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha, with Elsa – also revealed that the props can occasionally get misplaced in his home.
He added: “I was looking at the toy box and I was like oh look at this a plastic hammer and then I realised it was the real one just kicking around.”
Chris is back as Thor in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and he admitted slipping back into his alter ego’s suit of armour was not that fun as it is a very uncomfortable costume.
He said: “The suit keeps changing it does and each time it’s not a comfortable suit either it’s the most heavy, awkwardly constructed piece of clothing you can imagine. Obviously there’s a familiarity stepping back into the character but what’s give me the most joy has been being able to recreate the character each time.
“And being able to show in particularly with ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ to kind of really totally shift the direction of where it was headed.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Kelly has joined the cast of ‘Liar’.
The ‘Cheat’ actress will star as DI Karen Renton in the second series of the ITV drama, which will see her alter-ego attempt to uncover clues about Andrew Earlham’s (Ioan Gruffudd) grizzly past in the three weeks leading up to his murder.
Executive producers Harry and Jack Williams said: “It has been a joy returning to Liar and our reunion with Joanne and Ioan.
“Equally we are thrilled to have Katherine Kelly on board as DI Renton after her stellar performance in ‘Cheat’.”
Howard Charles and Amy Nuttall have also joined the cast of the second series as Carl and Winnie Peterson respectively, and Joanne Froggatt will reprise her role as teacher Laura Nielson.
Laura will no doubt be one of the main suspects for Andrew’s murder after she uncovered his dodgy secret, which led to an arrest warrant being issued for the sexual assault of 19 women.
ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill added: “We’re delighted both Joanne and Ioan are returning to ‘Liar’ as Laura and Andrew with Katherine Kelly joining the cast as DI Karen Renton.
“We’re sure audiences will once again be gripped by the story as Harry and Jack Williams keep you guessing over who killed Andrew.”
Filming for the second series has got underway, and comes after the first season was ITV’s highest rated new drama of 2017, with 9.1 million tuning into the final episode.

OHMYGOSSIP — Kieran Hayler is in talks to land his own reality show.
The 32-year-old former stripper regularly features on his estranged wife Katie Price’s programme, ‘My Crazy Life’, but he’s now hoping to star in a series of his own alongside the former couple’s children, Jett, five, and four-year-old Bunny.
A source told The Sun Online: “Kieran’s been approached a few times, but now he’s actually in talks to film some scenes with a view to getting his own reality show, a spin off of Katie’s ‘My Crazy Life’. It’d star him and the kids.”
Katie and Kieran have a fairly amicable relationship but she often pokes fun at her estranged husband – who is now dating Michelle Pentecost – so he’d see a new show as the chance to make his own jibes.
The insider added: “She always calls him fat and useless and mocks him and blames him for everything on her show – it would be nice to have his side of things on camera for a change, to set the record straight.”
And Kieran would be keen for 40-year-old Katie – who also has Harvey, 16, Junior, 13, and Princess, 11, from previous relationships – to make appearances if he did land his own show.
The source added: “He’d want Katie on his show too – after all, he’s on her show, she owes him.”
The former couple married in 2013 but split four years later after Kieran admitted to being unfaithful.
Meanwhile Katie recently claimed she’s in talks for a drama series based on her life.
She said: “I’ve got a new book out next year. There’s so much to put in it. And I’m in talks with Netflix about doing a drama series about my life. I’m not going to give too much away – you’ll have to wait and see.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Angela Bassett has signed up to star in ‘Gunpowder Milkshake’.
The ‘Black Panther’ actress will appear alongside Karen Gillan and Lena Headey in the forthcoming female-centric assassin thriller, which will be directed by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado.
According to Deadline, Bassett has landed the role of Anna May, an unassuming leader of a huge armoury.
Keshales and Papushado – responsible for the dark Israeli breakout ‘Big Bad Wolves’ – have penned the script with Ehud Lavski.
Filming for the movie is expected to begin in Berlin, Germany, in the spring.
While plot details have largely been kept under wraps, it is thought the motion picture will span over multiple generations.
This comes after Bassett previously admitted she was keen for her kids, 13-year-old twins, son Slater and daughter Bronwyn, to be a part of ‘Black Panther’ – which has been praised for having a predominately black cast – so they could see what an important movie the cast were making.
The Ramonda actress – who shares her children with actor husband Courtney B. Vance – said: “We keep them back from premieres and this sort of thing. We try to keep them doing their own thing, out and away from it all.
“But [‘Black Panther’] was one that we felt it was imperative that they experienced and witnessed. It’s an iconic film.
“It’s such positive images … They can see themselves in a light as warriors, as heroes, as kings, as queens, and potential panthers. All things positive.
“I really wanted them to experience something that in the way they carry themselves, how they walk through the day, with their heads held high and their chests poked out, feeling good about who they are.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Janelle Monae hopes ‘UglyDolls’ sparks conversations about bullying between parents and their children.
The ‘Hidden Figures’ star voices the shy and smart Mandy in the upcoming animated movie and she wants to see the film make adults reflect on their own childhood experiences and reassure their kids who have been on the receiving end “of abuse” – or to find out if their offspring is the “aggressor” in a situation.
She said: “Growing up and being a child, especially today, with social media, the bullying rate is at an all-time high. We know that the suicide rate has increased as well.
“So I hope that when parents and kids watch this film, they have conversations around bully culture.
“The parents may even have stories of when they were growing up. I think it’s essential to have that dialogue because your kid could be on the receiving end of abuse. But it’s also possible your child is the aggressor.”
The 33-year-old singer-and-actress is proud of the way the movie “celebrates the other” and hopes it will help give people confidence in who they are.
She told website Black Girl Nerds: “In the real world, in our country, we’re dealing with people in various positions of authority. We have folks who come from different places around the world, like immigrants or those who love outside of the heteronormative way.
“The film speaks to that. It speaks to the other and celebrates the other. It looks at how you can be a better ally to those around you who are vulnerable.
“It’s about community and what it looks like to start your own when you don’t fit in.
“The message is: Don’t allow anyone to say you’re not good enough. Don’t let anyone break you. Remember you are unbreakable, and remember that you gotta start inward. You have to believe in yourself first before you believe in anybody else.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Fallon nearly quit acting to become a midwife before landing a part on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 23-year-old actress has portrayed Bethany Platt on the ITV soap since 2015 but she nearly didn’t make it that far after failing to get into drama school, and she only tried out for the role because someone “forced” her to audition.
She said: “I was going to pack it all in to become a midwife, but somebody forced me to audition.
“Four years later, I’ve learned so much and I’m not in debt.”
Several ‘Coronation Street’ stars have gone on to appear in US productions and big-budget British drama shows, and Lucy believes one of the reasons for their post-cobbles success could be because they have a “warmth” about them thanks to their north of England charm.
She said: “I do think that being northern – no offence to people from the south – gives you something different. There’s a warmth there.”
‘Corrie’ script writer Jonathan Harvey believes there used to be a “snobbery” around soap actors but that has “disappeared”, and now former Weatherfield women are beating actresses to roles Stateside.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, he added: “I’ve got a friend, a British actress who is very successful in America, and if she goes up for anything in Britain she gets beaten by someone from ‘Coronation Street’.
“Sarah Lancashire broke out at a time when there was still a snobbery around how soap actors were perceived. But that seems to have disappeared.”
As well as Sarah – who has appeared in the likes of drama shows ‘Happy Valley’ and ‘Last Tango in Halifax’ since leaving the soap – former ‘Corrie’ stars Michelle Keegan, Suranne Jones, Katherine Kelly, Sally Lindsay, and ‘Downton Abbey’ star Joanne Froggatt have all gone on to taste post-cobbles success.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sherrie Hewson may consider counselling to deal with her body dysmorphia.
The ‘Benidorm’ actress, 68, has opened up about how she might resort to professional help so she can overcome her insecurities about ageing, admitting the thought of getting old “fills [her] with sadness”.
Sherrie told The Sun Online: “I feel like I’ve lost the girl that I once was and the face I knew.
“You have to come to terms with the fact that that person isn’t there anymore
“It makes me feel invisible because no man in the world is going to look at me because they all want to be with a woman who is at least 20 years younger.
“Maybe I need to have counselling to get rid of the terrible stuff that goes on in my head.”
The former ‘Loose Women’ panellist revealed the results of her face lift when she appeared on ‘Lorraine’ in 2015, and admitted the procedure made her feel “better” after a bad 10 years.
She said: “I’ve had a c***py 10 years and everything, I think, showed in my face, it was worn, it was drawn, it was worn out.
“I wanted to do it for me. Not for any other reason in the world, for me.
“It has made me feel a bit better.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress sought cosmetic surgery for a second time after her first facelift went awry and left her fighting for her life.
During the procedure, she suffered an allergic reaction to general anaesthetic which was given to her ahead of the scheduled surgical facelift.
Sherrie suffered from convulsions and then blacked out on the operating table, resulting in medics cancelling the op.
The former cobbles favourite previously revealed she thought she was going to die before she fell unconscious during the horrific ordeal.
She recalled: “I felt like I was drowning and the last thing I saw before I fell unconscious was the shocked looks on the doctor’s faces. I thought I was a goner.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo is set to make her live-action film debut in ‘Hustlers’.
The 30-year-old singer has joined the cast of the upcoming crime drama which already stars the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Cardi B, Keke Palmer and Lili Reinhart.
The plot is inspired by the New York Magazine article ‘The Hustlers at Scores’ and the STX Entertainment film is set in the late 2000s in New York City in the wake of the financial crisis and will follow a group of strippers who plot to steal tens of thousands of dollars from their wealthy Wall Street clients.
‘Juice’ hitmaker Lizzo had her first ever movie role voicing a character in the upcoming animated musical ‘Uglydolls’. It is yet to be confirmed who she will play in ‘Hustlers’.
Lorene Scafaria will helm the project and penned the script based on the 2015 article by Jessica Pressler and shooting is already underway in New York City.
Adam Fogelson, chairman of STXfilms, previously said of the film’s cast: “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast.”
This news follows the release of Lizzo’s third album ‘Cuz I Love You’ and a string of Coachella performances and the ‘Like A Girl’ singer previously let slip that she’ll be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, South West England, this June.
She previously spilled: “I just have a s**t tonne of shows and festivals. I’m coming back to London and Manchester. I’m doing Lovebox Festival and Glastonbury but I don’t think that’s announced so, whatever – you just got the scoop, b***h. I’m going to be everywhere. The tour has sold out already so bring it on.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madden spoke to Donatella Versace to prepare for his role as John Reid in ‘Rocketman’.
The 32-year-old actor plays Elton John’s manager and one-time lover in the upcoming biopic and admitted he had to “rely on stories” to discover information about John -as he was “always in the background”.
The ‘Bodyguard’ star recalled an anecdote told to him by the iconic designer in which Reid, 69, was made to arrange a trip for four homeless people Elton had taken a shine to and decided he wanted to perform with.
In an interview with Deadline, Madden said: “It was quite difficult playing him because he was always in the background of Elton’s life so he’s not the guy that does interviews. I had to rely on stories to find out about him, which was a kind of really fun interesting way of finding out about him especially kind of interesting the people in the public eye who I’ve met who had stories about him and were close to him. I remember chatting to Donatella Versace about one evening that Elton had gone out with his guitar in France somewhere and picked up about four different homeless people that he wanted to go on stage with him the next night.
“John had to arrange the flights and book the hotels of these four different homeless people that he’d met on the street and got them up on the street the next day to perform with Elton and did it all.
“So I kind of got to find out all these fascinating anecdotes about this man both good and bad and there’s a mix of both because he’s quite an interesting character.
“That was the gift of this that you can’t find so much about him so I had to rely on talking to people and full out the elements that we needed to fit this kind of fictional fantasy film that we’re doing.”
‘Rocketman’ has been directed by Dexter Fletcher and stars Taron Egerton as the legendary musician in the story of how he conquered the world with his songs.
The film will be released in the UK on May 22 and in the US on May 31.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chelsee Healey cannot sleep without her comfort blanket.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who plays Goldie McQueen in the Channel 4 soap – has had the object since she was a baby, and has even named the material Nicola.
She said: “People would be shocked to know that I have a comfort blanket that I’ve had since I was a baby, and I can’t sleep without it.
“I’ve called her Nicola.”
Chelsee also feels comfortable sharing images of herself on Instagram and has posted more than 4,000 times on the photo-sharing site, but the former ‘Waterloo Road’ star insists she is actually a “very insecure person”.
She said: “Also, while I know that I come across as a big poser on Instagram, I’m actually a very insecure person.”
As well as showing fans her life on Instagram, Chelsee is keen to follow in the footsteps of her ‘Hollyoaks’ co-star Malique Thompson-Dwyer (Prince McQueen) by appearing on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ one day, and the self-confessed dancing fan wouldn’t mind a spot on ‘Dancing on Ice’ either.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “I’d love to compete on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
“It’s all about performing, and that’s what I love to do.
“I’d also be thrilled to go into the jungle – so please put the feelers out there for me.”
Chelsee is no stranger to a reality TV show having finished as runner-up on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2011 while partnered with Pasha Kovalev.
What’s more, the former ‘Casualty’ actress recently appeared in the sixth series of reality dating series ‘Celebs Go Dating’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Lewis quit ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ because she “outgrew” the show.
The 28-year-old star confirmed in January she was departing the ITVBe series after four years, and has now revealed she left the show because it is “more important to have a happy personal life” with off-screen boyfriend Danny Flasher.
Chloe told MailOnline: “I’m really grateful for the show, but I sort of outgrew it. I think when your relationship isn’t on the show, it’s very hard to do both.
“I just feel like it’s more important to have a happy personal life, so I just made the decision to leave.
“I don’t regret it and I’m thankful for all the opportunities it’s brought me, but I just outgrew it.
“When your personal life is not in it, it’s very hard. I’m not outspoken, so doing scenes and commenting on other people’s lives is just not me. I would find it really hard to go back, so I’m over it.”
The reality TV star – who has been with her beau for two years – also admitted she doesn’t attend many events with her boyfriend because he doesn’t want to be in the public eye.
She said: “It’s his choice to stay away from the limelight. If he was in the public eye than we would naturally go to more events, but life is so much nicer having your own time away from it all.
“It’s nice to come home and have normality. Being happy within myself, being with someone who is normal and being in a normal environment is so much nicer [than displaying her life on TV].”
While she is no longer on ‘TOWIE’, Chloe loves to watch the reality series and “keep up with all the gossip.”
She said: “Weirdly enough, when I was on it I didn’t watch it as I didn’t like watching myself back, but now I watch it all the time.
“I always try to keep up with all the gossip from Chloe [Meadows], Courtney [Green] and Clelia [Theodorou] and Shelby [Tribble]. It works out better this way, they have an extra viewer.”

OHMYGOSSIP — CJ de Mooi contracted HIV while homeless aged 18 when he had to resort to prostitution to “stay alive”.
The 49-year-old former ‘Eggheads’ star told fans earlier this week that he has been “living with AIDS” for the past 30 years, and has now revealed how he contracted the virus – for which there is no cure – and admitted he is getting “more and more ill every day” after “constant stress” has “weakened” his immune system.
He said: “I contracted HIV when I was 18 because I was sleeping on the streets.
“I had to resort to prostitution just in order to stay alive. I’m not ashamed of that, I did it because I wanted to live.
“This has been a situation that I’ve been living with now for 30 years. With the current medication, the situation is manageable.
“I went to the hospital and I was stable. I’ve been given a course of new medication. Over the last three years, I’ve had a lot of issues, shall we say?
“The constant stress of everything that’s been going on, has, according to my doctor, weakened my immune system so much that it’s now very vulnerable.
“I’m getting more and more ill every day.”
CJ has had a turbulent time of late after he was axed from ‘Eggheads’ in 2016 over a wrongful accusation of sexual assault, and he has racked up huge legal bills fighting extradition to the Netherlands after being accused of manslaughter, murder, assault and battery in Amsterdam in 1988.
The pro quizzer – who lives in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, with his husband Andrew Doran – doesn’t know “how long” he has left but doesn’t want sympathy from anyone.
Speaking on talkRADIO, he added: “I don’t want people to feel sorry for me, especially about my health. I don’t know how long I’ve got left.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent has joined a boxing gym after being warned he is on “death row” because of his weight gain.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star has signed up for sessions at Peacock Gym in Canning Town, east London – where top British fighters such as Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis have previously sparred – to train with boxer Anthony Yarde in an attempt to shed some pounds.
He wrote on Instagram: “I’ve been warned I’m on “Death Row” because of my weight gain!
Thanks to my old friends @mranthonyyarde @tundeajayi9 today my life changes & I’m back in the boxing gym!
@peacockboxingclub is my new home! (sic)”
James’ decision comes after weight loss professional Steven Miller admitted he is “really concerned” about Arg’s size.
He told Best magazine: “I really am concerned about Arg.
“Being so fat can often mean you are on death row.
“I want him to realise he might soon suffer a heart attack, stroke and even cancer due to his size.”
In January, James admitted he had been inspired to lose weight by his on/off lover Gemma Collins, and said at the time he wanted to get back into boxing.
He explained: “I need to get back in the gym. I’m desperate to get back on track.
“My fitness is my number one New Year resolution – but I find it so difficult.
“I want to get back into my boxing, set my band up and secure a show on TV with myself and Gemma.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran has helped turn Himesh Patel into a “fantastic performer”.
The singer/songwriter and composer Daniel Pemberton worked alongside the former ‘EastEnders’ actor for new Danny Boyle movie ‘Yesterday’, and while the 28-year-old star was “a bit reticent” to start with, he is now much nearer to pop star quality.
Daniel told the Daily Star newspaper: “Himesh has been phenomenal. He’s gone from being a bit reticent to shy to being a fantastic performer.
“Danny wanted me to work with the main actor and turn him into a superstar, he was really adamant.
“We worked with Himesh all the way through from buying his first guitar in the shops, so finding one he could love and learn to play with, to sending him out busking and playing the songs.”
Himesh stars as a struggling songwriter Jack Malik who, after an accident, ends up in a world where nobody has heard of The Beatles, apart from him, so he sets about cashing in.
And Daniel admitted Ed was “really supportive” in Himesh’s quest to get into character.
He added: “Ed and Himesh had quite a lot of chats, he was really supportive.”
Himesh looks set for a busy 2019 as in December it was revealed he had been cast in new BBC Two period drama ‘The Luminaries’, alongside Ewen Leslie, Eve Hewson, and Eva Green.
The star’s singer/songwriter movie part is a far cry from his role as hapless market inspector Tamwar Masood in ‘EastEnders’.
He portrayed the role from 2007 to 2016, and his alter-ego recently got engaged off-screen.
Himesh previously admitted that while he was “sad” to leave Walford, it was the “right time” for him to make the move.
He said: “It was definitely the right time to leave.
“So it wasn’t like I was being pulled away from something that I was holding onto for dear life.
“But it was sad to leave people behind that I really loved, and had spent a lot of time with, and it was scary, because I’d been there since I was 16.
“So it was very scary to leave and venture forth, with no idea of what would come my way.”
