Michelle Gayle talks possible EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Gayle says she could go back to ‘EastEnders’.
The 48-year-old singer-and-actress played Hattie Tavernier on the BBC One soap from 1990 to 1993 and her alter-ego was last seen on screens in December 1993 when she left to visit her parents in Norwich, with Michelle departing the show to pursue a singing career.
She said: “I was sent to Norwich, she’s been there for 20-something years. So, effectively, I suppose I could [go back].
“You never know.”
Hattie did appear once more in 1994 to show the character had decided to remain in East Anglia but she was only seen from a distance and the part was played by an uncredited extra.
Michelle’s character was part of the Taverniers, who were the first black family on ‘EastEnders’, and the star feels great she has been a trailblazer in several projects.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: “It was [trailblazing], the first black family. It’s been almost 30 years.
“It’s so nice throughout my career to be the first to do something.
“I was also the first black Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in the West End.
“And it’s so nice to be part of something that is showing the changing world.
“We’re reflecting the Britain that is now, and I’m a part of that.”
Last month, Michelle admitted it felt like a “pipe dream” when she landed a role on ‘EastEnders’.
She said: “‘EastEnders’ had always been forward-thinking with individual black characters but it felt like a pipe dream to have a whole family represented on prime-time BBC One in the early 90s.
“Our community was so excited. Everyone wanted us to fit their mould of what they thought a black family should look like, but I think the BBC made a huge effort to present us authentically.”

The ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge is ecstatic her daughter Li-Da – who she adopted after the youngster was orphaned at 16 months old by the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia – has now taken in a new baby after trying to adopt for four years.
Prue is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “I am so fascinated by adoption because my daughter is adopted and she is Cambodian.
“When I adopted her, which was 44 years ago, it was comparatively easy, they checked us out in five seconds.
“Li-Da has been four years trying to adopt, and now finally last week she has got a baby.”
The 79-year-old restaurateur previously admitted that when she took in Li-Da she warmed to her instantly and saw her as no different to her biological child, Daniel.
She said: “I saw [Rayne’s] point that there were enough children in the world already, but I did worry, ‘Will I ever love an adopted child as much as I love Daniel?’

And Prue believes she is a “terrible granny” because she works so much.
She said: “By 7pm I wanted the children in bed so I could have a drink and watch telly, while my son and daughter-in-law are amazing – they will go on playing with their three for ever.
“I’m a terrible granny, always working.”

The ‘Masterchef’ co-host was diagnosed with diverticulitis last year, a digestive condition that affects the large intestine, and as a result the BBC presenter has monitor his alcohol consumption and how much fiery food he eats because it can play havoc with his stomach.
He is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “When they’re irritated, you’ve got to watch alcohol and spicy food. We were eating chillis yesterday.

The 59-year-old actor – who is best known for his role as Jim McDonald in the ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’ – had a mini-stroke, which occurs when part of the brain experiences a temporary lack of blood flow, while on stage during a performance of Ian Rankin’s ‘Rebus: Long Shadows’ in Edinburgh last year.

Speaking on ‘BBC Breakfast’, he said: “If you have alarm bells listen to them. I perhaps could have avoided this by dealing with certain issues that should have been dealt with.
“I’m now on medication for the rest of my life and I’ve learned a lesson and that’s that I’m not indestructible … I have to rethink my whole life.”
Charles recalled the moment he knew “something was wrong” and admitted he felt “totally lost and extremely vulnerable” as he had the attack.
He said: “I was suffering with exhaustion at the time. I lost about two stone, I wasn’t sleeping, I’d been advised by a doctor to pull out but you can’t really do that as an actor you’ve got to carry on.
“There I was in the middle of the second half racing along doing wonderfully well and I suddenly was aware for about five seconds that something was wrong with me. In my head over those five seconds I went half deaf everybody went blue in front of me on stage.
“I was totally lost and felt extremely vulnerable all in these sort of five seconds and I was aware there was 1,800 people out there staring at me wondering what I was doing.”

Jared Leto would ‘definitely’ play Joker again

OHMYGOSSIP — Jared Leto would “definitely” play The Joker again if given the opportunity.
The 47-year-old actor portrayed the DC Comics supervillain – the archenemy of Batman – in 2016 film ‘Suicide Squad’ and he is keen to reprise the role in James Gunn’s upcoming new ‘Suicide Squad’ film if he’s wanted.
Speaking to Variety, he said: “I would definitely play The Joker again. It all depends on the script and the circumstances as it always does.”
Rumours have been rife that he will appear in the upcoming all-female DC Extended Universe film ‘Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’, which centres on Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, The Joker’s girlfriend.
And the ‘Fight Club’ star has hinted he will feature.
He teased: “You’d have to ask them … We’ll, we’ll see.”
Margot, 28, confirmed last month through her production company Lucky Champ’s Instagram account that ‘Birds of Prey’ has completed filming after three months.
The ‘I, Tonya’ star revealed a new image of her character Harley Quinn – who was first seen in 2016’s ‘Suicide Squad’ as part of the squad of anti-heroes – sat on a char emblazoned with the film’s possible logo, and a caption confirming: “That’s a wrap!”
‘Birds of Prey’ is expected to be very different from other movies in the DCEU, as it will reportedly get an R-rating in the US and 18 rating in the UK, making it less child-friendly than previous movies.
Although the flick takes place in superhero Batman’s hometown of Gotham City, The Caped Crusader won’t be making an appearance, and the cast will instead be made up of Margot, alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain.

The Burnley footballer is wanted to present a programme on the BBC with the “same kind of fun and banter” as his Radio 5 Live pod, which he co-hosts with Tom Fordyce and Chris Stark.
A TV insider said: “BBC bigwigs want him to front his own show, most likely with a fun football backdrop, with the same kind of fun and banter.”
BBC bosses are said to be delighted with the listening figures on his podcast, aptly named ‘That Peter Crouch Podcast’, and love his “hilarious anecdotes”.
The source added to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “The podcast has been a huge hit, with listening figures through the roof.

The footballer has opened up about his life as a footballer on his pod, and once admitted he finds some of the crowd chants “quite funny”, but isn’t a big fan of being on the end of “mindless” obscenities.
He said: “I don’t mind a bit of creative abuse, something that’s quite funny.
“It’s the mindless stuff, when people just shout obscenities, that’s not so good.”

Kem Cetinay wouldn’t apply for Love Island now

OHMYGOSSIP — Kem Cetinay would “bottle it” if he went on ‘Love Island’ now.
The 23-year-old reality TV star rose to fame on ITV’s dating show when he paired up with Amber Davies in the villa two years ago, but he has admitted the programme has grown so much in popularity since its third series in 2017.
He told RadioTimes.com: “I wouldn’t go in now. There’s too much hype around it now. It’d stress me out. I think I’d bottle it last minute.
“It’s too much of a big show, I couldn’t deal with the pressure. I don’t know how people deal with it.
“When I went on it not everyone really knew about it, it just blew up when we were on there.”
Since leaving the island, Kem – who split from Amber just six months after winning the show – has been impressing on TV, including an ITV2 show with former co-tar Chris Hughes and a successful stint on last year’s run of ‘Dancing On Ice’ which lead to a presenting role this time round.
Although he doesn’t think he could handle the pressure of the show at this point, the star – who was just 21 when he entered – admitted he has no regrets about ignoring his own mother’s advice and taking on the challenge.
He added: “My mum cried when she heard I was going into ‘Love Island’.
“She hated every idea of it, but she said she was so glad I didn’t listen to her and decided to go into the show because it’s made me grow up.
“I felt I was very babied by my family before. Love ‘Island’ helped me be a bit more of a man and made me take control of my life.”

Willow maybe rebooted as a TV show for Disney+

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Willow’ could be rebooted as a TV show on Disney’s new streaming service.
The fantasy film’s director Ron Howard revealed that he and ‘Star Wars’ creator and George Lucas – who produced and wrote the story of the 1988 fantasy classic – are working on a Willow TV series for Disney+.
Speaking to MTV’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Howard admitted that Jon Kasdan, a writer on his film ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ has been “hounding” him to reboot ‘Willow’ and he thought it was a “great” idea.
He said: “I think it’d be a great way to go, In fact, George always talked about the possibility of a Willow series, and it’d be great and more intimate.
“And built around that character and some of the others. And Jon Kasdan has, I think, an inspired take on it and it could be really, really cool.”
A source confirmed to Deadline that there have been conversations about the project at Disney+ not is has not yet been commissioned.
The original film was nominated for two Oscars and followed Warwick Davis as the titular farmer who plays a critical role in protecting a special baby from a tyrannical queen who vows to destroy her and take over the world.
However, Howard previously insisted that if there were to be a remake, the lead character would be more mature and wiser than he once was.
He enthused: “That would be hugely exciting … revisiting Willow as a character, now he’s older and wiser and perhaps even a better sorcerer, who knows by now, would be brilliant fun.”
This isn’t the first time Howard has hinted at a reboot and in May last year he tweeted and teased that he and Lucas were “seriously” thinking about it.
Replying to a fan asking for “More willow please”, he said: “We are seriously exploring it with Lucasfilm folks. Fingers crossed (sic)”

“I remember one lady had bought a shop she didn’t want because she’d confused it with the lot before and ended up buying the wrong lot.
“A few times we’d turn up at a home with the new owner to see them go inside and find the roof caving in and dead pigeons and rats inside. They’d be standing there, thinking, ‘What have I done?’ and when we’d return six months later they’d still be asking what they’d done. ”

Alan Carr sleepwalked ‘naked’ over fears about new show

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr was sleepwalking “naked” over fears about his new TV show.
The former ‘Chatty Man’ host is back with ‘Something About Movies’ on Sky and he’s been fretting about it so much that it disturbed his sleep in the most embarrassing way when he was spotted wandering around a car bark in just his underwear.
Speaking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ in an interview set to air on Saturday night (04.05.19), he said: “I’ve had anxiety because of this new show. You know I’m a very nervous person. I’m staying in a hotel. I slept walked in my pants. And it really shook me up.
“I remember in the morning this woman walking her dog going ‘what are you doing?’ Walked round the car park in my pants. This old woman said ‘what are you doing?’
“It’s so funny how quick they do check you back in when you’re naked in the foyer. It was very weird. It terrified me, literally terrified me.”
The 42-year-old comedian will be joined by fellow comic Micky Flanagan and actor Michael Sheen for the show, and despite his fears Alan recently admitted he is excited about the new project.
He said: “It is like a panel show, but not really. It’s a unique panel show, we have actual Hollywood actors so it’s not just comedians giving their best jokes.
“It’s a good mix, we’ve had Rupert Everett, Jason Isaacs, Matthew Broderick. We’ve filmed half of them already so I can hold my head up high because sometimes you can promote shows and you haven’t filmed them yet, and you go, ‘Oh please don’t be s**t’.
“It’s got so much energy but there never really is a dull moment, I know everyone says that but it really is good.”
