OHMYGOSSIP — Jed Mercurio is still in talks with the BBC about the future of ‘Line of Duty’ and ‘Bodyguard’.
The writer and creator of both hit Beeb series has admitted he hasn’t made firm plans for what will come next after the ‘Line of Duty’ season five finale on Sunday night (05.05.19), but he confirmed there was no chance of him working on two shows at once.
He told Digital Spy: “We’re currently in talks with the BBC about the future of both series. So at this point it’s not possible to say what will happen next.
“But it’s impossible to work on the two of them simultaneously, so it would have to be sequential.”
In the feature length ‘Line of Duty’ finale this week, it was revealed that Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) isn’t ‘H’, and there are actually four corrupt figures holding senior positions within the police service.
While ‘Dot’ Cottan (Craig Parkinson) is one of the four – with ACC Hilton (Paul Higgins) and now Gill Biggeloe (Polly Walker) also revealed as an associate – there is still a fourth individual to be discovered.
Jed explained: “You have to consider what the origin of that term is, which I think is something that I think has been lost in a lot of the discussion about it.
“It isn’t a codename, it’s something that comes from Dot. The police started using this term because they believed that Dot was giving a specific clue that the person’s name began with ‘H’ – so the police used that.
“And Corbett, because he was aware of that, passed that information on and it became something that was part of the conversation within the OCG. But they were all barking up the wrong tree, as is revealed at the end.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Davies says ‘Love Island’ should “purely” be about romance.
The 22-year-old reality star won the ITV2 dating show with Kem Cetinay in 2017 – although they split just six months after winning – and she has insisted the motivation for heading to the villa should be finding a partner rather than chasing fame.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, she said: “Go on there to find love not fame. Go on ‘Shipwrecked’ if you want to find fame. Or ‘Celebs Go Dating’, or something. ‘Love Island’ needs to purely be about finding love.”
Amber also offered some advice to potential future contestants, and urged them to be honest with bosses and viewers because they will be able to see right through anyone who isn’t themselves.
She explained: “You can tell when someone has a bit about them. You can’t fake that.”
Although the star – who is currently starring in Dolly Parton’s West End comedy musical ‘9 to 5’ – has no regrets over her decision to appear on the show, she admitted she was worried her stint could cause problems for her career, especially after she bedded then-boyfriend Kem on screen.
She previously said: “I had a lot to prove and, yes, I feared having sex on TV could have a negative impact on my acting career. My aim has been for people to stop thinking of me as Amber from ‘Love Island’.
“I was only 20 and I’ve realised now I had a lot of growing up to do – and I have done. People ask me if I just did ‘Love Island’ as a fast track to the top. That wasn’t the case. I went for it on a whim. But I’ve put the hours in since and worked so hard to change ­people’s perception. So it’s a relief it has paid off.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman admitted the ‘Star Wars’ prequel backlash was “a bummer”.
The 37-year-old actress became a household name after her starring role as Padme Amidala in ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’, which has been heavily criticised by fans along with its sequels ‘Attack of the Clones’ and ‘The Revenge of the Sith’, and for Portman it was tough to take.
Speaking to Empire, the actress – who was a teen when the first of the prequel trilogy movies came out in 1999 – said: “It was hard. It was a bummer because it felt like people were so excited about new ones and then to have people feel disappointed.
“Also to be at an age that I didn’t really understand that’s kind of the nature of the beast. When something has that much anticipation it can almost only disappoint.”
However, Portman noted that some fans have “re-evaluated’ their initial reaction to the films, which were scorned for a perceived overuse of CGI and dislike for comedic alien Jar Jar Binks.
She added: “With the perspective of time, it’s been re-evaluated by a lot of people who actually really love them now.
“There’s a very avid group of people who think they’re the best ones now! I don’t have enough perspective to weigh in.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Star Wars’ fanbase was mourning over the weekend as it was revealed actor Peter Mayhew – who was best known for playing Chewbacca in the franchise – tragically passed away on April 30 at the age of 74.
‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas said: “Peter was a wonderful man. He was the closest any human being could be to a Wookiee: big heart, gentle nature … and I learned to always let him win. He was a good friend and I’m saddened by his passing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Clifton has joked he’s “public enemy number one”, following his rumoured romance with Stacey Dooley.
The 36-year-old professional dancer is believed to be romancing TV presenter Stacey – whom he was partnered with on the 2018 series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – but has been the source of criticism after Stacey’s ex-boyfriend Sam Tucknott claimed he learned about the pair’s romance when Kevin text her saying “I love you”.
And now, Kevin has seemingly made light of the situation by joking about his status in the public eye.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column whilst backstage at dance show ‘Burn The Floor’, he said: “I seem to be public enemy number one at the moment.”
But despite being concerned about his image, Kevin still had the support of the ‘Stacey Dooley Investigates’ star at the dance show, as eyewitnesses claim she and Kevin’s sister Joanne were watching proudly from the balcony.
An onlooker told the publication: “Stacey looked ever the doting girlfriend as she clapped and cheered Kevin on during the show, and giggled over the balcony with Joanne.
“At one point he even blew her a very public kiss from the stage and she spent a lot of time proudly filming him on her phone.
“They clearly didn’t care just how besotted they looked with each other.”
Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Stacey, 32, was told to separate herself from Kevin amid the “scandal”, out of fears that it could “negatively impact her career”.
A source said: “Stacey has plenty of work on at the moment and her agents don’t want that to be effected in the wake of the scandal.
“They’ve quietly suggested that the recent stories could be bad for her image and hope that she will listen to the advice.
“Stacey does what she wants at the end of the day but they think it’s best if she keeps a low profile and that means staying away from Kevin for now.”
Stacey previously took to social media to insist there are “two sides to every story”, following her ex-partner’s claims.
She wrote on Twitter: “Anyone with any adult life experience knows there are 2 sides to every story.
“I haven’t got the time or energy to correct some of the utter nonsense I’ve read on here. (sic)”
But the documentary maker insisted she only wishes “happiness and success” for Sam in the future.
She wrote: “Re Sam, I loved him v much and only wish him happiness and success going forward. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Evangeline Lilly is set to star in ‘Happy Life’.
The 39-year-old actress and Ike Barinholtz have been announced as the stars of the upcoming comedy movie, being written and directed by David Stassen in his feature film debut.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be shopped at Cannes Film Festival by Highland Film Group – who have obtained the sales rights to the flick – before going into production in the summer.
‘Happy Life’ follows the story of a new mother named Allison Beck (Lilly), who believes her workaholic husband Eli (Barinholtz) is having an affair with an Instagram star. One mistake after another leads her into the arms of a younger man as she struggles to come to terms with her life decisions and being the mother she aspires to be.
Stassen and Barinholtz will both produce the movie, alongside Andrew Robinson and Aperture Media Productions.
For Evangeline, the movie role comes after she revealed last year that she almost walked away from acting for good after being “uncomfortable” with the way she was thrust into the spotlight, particularly after starring in ‘Lost’.
She said: “Basically, by accident, my first speaking role in film or television was ‘Lost’, and so I was instantly launched into international stardom, and that was really uncomfortable for me.
“I instantly balked, didn’t know how to deal with it and felt very uncomfortable after that situation. I ended up deciding to retire after I finished ‘Lost’. I did a film called ‘Real Steel’ with Hugh Jackman and then I walked away. I said, ‘I’m done, I’m never doing this again.'”
The actress admitted it was her role as Tauriel in 2013’s ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ that drew her back to the screen, but says she almost quit again after the role before deciding to stick it out thanks to landing the part of The Wasp in the ‘Ant-Man’ movies.

OHMYGOSSIP — Wagner says ‘The X Factor’ needs his “abs and smile”.
The eccentric former contestant – who landed in sixth place on the ITV1 talent show in 2010, with Matt Cardle winning that year – has admitted he’s feeling “really young” at 63, after undergoing two hair transplants and working on his physique, and he has called on Simon Cowell to bring novelty acts like himself back for his planned All-Stars version of the programme to make it a more “fun” and “interesting” viewing experience.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, Wagner said:
“I think ‘X Factor’ could do with some more interesting acts, not serious people who sing like they are suffering or dying.
“People at home watch and go ‘That’s boring.’ I make people smile wherever I go.
“I’ve had two hair transplants and work out every day. I now have the best abs I have ever had in my life, at 63.
“I’ll bring the fun. When I’m on stage I love it. I’m 63 but I feel really young.”
The Brazilian-born singer previously described his performance as a cross between the styles of Sir Mick Jagger, Luciano Pavarotti and Tony Bennett.
Wagner said: “Music is all I want to do. I wish I could be like Tony Bennett and be successful well into my 80s. I would like to be like Mick Jagger. He is as fantastic as Luciano Pavorotti. There are so many role models for me.”
Meanwhile, Jedward recently claimed bosses are “desperate” to sign them up to the All-Stars series.
Identical twins John and Edward Grimes said the show’s bosses “definitely want them” to appear on the celebrity version of the talent show, which will see the winner awarded a lucrative deal with record label Syco and the chance to bag a Christmas number one single.
Edward said: “Well I can tell everybody that they’re trying desperately to get me and John. They’ve been emailing us.”
Whilst John added: “They definitely want us”.
Despite their offers, the 27-year-old singers aren’t interested in signing up as they feel they have “progressed” over the years and are no longer keen to “do Britney Spears or Ghostbusters”.
John continued: “I don’t want to go back and rewind what we’ve already done, we’ve progressed, we’ve got our own songs. I don’t want to go back and do Britney Spears or Ghostbusters.”
Music mogul Simon is planning to revamp the hit talent show with a star-studded line-up and is said to have set aside £3 million to attract famous faces for the show.
He is reportedly keen to sign up his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ co-star Amanda Holden.
Gemma Collins – who shot to fame on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – is currently in high demand and also thought to be wanted for the show. Soap stars, former musicians and TV presenters are expected to be approached so they can transform and reboot their careers.

OHMYGOSSIP — Benedict Cumberbatch and Elisabeth Moss have joined the cast of Jane Champion’s film ‘The Power of the Dog’.
The ‘Doctor Strange’ actor will play one of the Montana brothers, Phil, in the adaptation of the Thomas Savage novel of the same name, who owns the wealthiest ranch in Montana Valley with his brother George, and ends up destroying Emmy Award-winner Moss’ widow alter-ego Rose’s life, after she ties the knot with his sibling in secret.
The movie marks the first time Academy Award-winner Champion has worked with a male lead.
The ‘The Piano’ filmmaker told Variety: “‘The Power of the Dog’ is a sublime novel that deserves a life on the big screen.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about the story, it really haunted me. The themes of masculinity, nostalgia and betrayal are an intoxicating mix.
“It’s also rare to find a story where the themes, the plot and the characters build tension as they reveal each other and even the end is satisfying and unexpected. It will be the first time I’ve worked with a male lead, which is exciting. Phil is a charismatic and complex character who declares war on his brother’s new wife and her teenage son.”
The dramatic flick is set to enter pre-production later this year and the script is being adapted by Champion.
The movie is the first to be announced for Cumberbatch since blockbuster ‘Avengers: Endgame’, in which he starred as the marvel superhero Dr. Stephen Strange.
The 42-year-old thespian has recently wrapped on Sam Mendes’ World War I movie ‘1917’, whilst a sequel to ‘Doctor Strange’ is said to be in the making.
Whilst Moss, 36, recently starred in Box Office hit ‘Us’ and has a third season of the ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’,out this summer, and is also set to star in ‘The Invisible Man’ reboot.
Leigh Whannell has tapped the ‘Girl, Interrupted’ star for the lead part in the remake of Universal’s 1950s sci-fi blockbuster, which is based on the novel by H. G. Wells.
In the original, the titular character’s love interest Flora Cranley was portrayed by Gloria Stuart – who is best known for portraying old Rose in ‘Titanic’.
Details of the project are being kept under wraps for the time being, but according to IMDB.com, the film is in pre-production.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Aston’s dog has died just two days after he got married.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor and his wife Briony Aston have been left devastated just hours after tying the knot, when their pet pooch Buddy passed away.
Yoga teacher Briony wrote on Instagram Stories: “Today we lost another member of our herd. Sweet dreams buddy. (sic)”
But Briony admitted she is “so lucky” to have Sam – who plays dog lover Chesney Brown on the cobbles – through such tough times.
She wrote: “Sam I are so lucky to have other through good times and bad thank you for the love.”
The newlyweds’ loss came just two days after they married at Stock Farm in Cheshire on Saturday (04.05.19) surrounded by their family and friends, including several of Sam’s ‘Corrie’ co-stars.
Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker), Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Mikey North (Gary Windass) were all in attendance to see the pair, who have been engaged since June 2017, marry.
What’s more, Sam and Briony’s latest dog devastation comes just weeks after they lost another one of their adorable four-legged friends.
Last month, he took to Instagram to pay tribute to his late pet pooch Bella.
The cobbles favourite wrote: “Earlier today, I said goodbye to my beautiful black lab. It’s very true when they say a dog is a mans best friend. Sleep well Bella…..You were and will always be my girl (sic)”
Sam’s alter-ego Chesney has also suffered the pain of losing a dog.
The flame-haired Weatherfield resident took care of pooch Schmeichel – a pure breed Great Dane named after former Denmark and Manchester United footballer Peter Schmeichel – after he was left on Tyrone’s doorstep in 2004.
After seven years of caring for the four-legged friend, the mutt was put to sleep in 2011 after being diagnosed with liver cancer.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Pasquale’s dad died before seeing him strip on ‘The All New Monty: Who Bares Wins’ for male cancer awareness.
The 57-year-old comedian bared all alongside several stars in a ‘Full Monty’-style striptease on Monday night (06.05.19), and the programme dedicated the episode to Joe’s father Joseph – who he was appearing on the show for – after he recently passed away from prostate cancer.
A message appeared on screen which read: “In memory of Joseph Pasquale 1931-2019.”
Ahead of the programme, Joe’s son Joe Tracini – who is best known for portraying Dennis Savage in ‘Hollyoaks’ – took to Twitter to urge fans to tune into the show to raise awareness about cancer because his grandad would have been “pleased”.
He tweeted: “Please put @itv #AllNewMonty on.
“You’ll see my dad’s arse, but also my grandad talk about prostrate cancer, before said cancer took him 2 weeks ago.
“I know he’d love the attention.
“Grandad would probably be pleased too. (sic)”
Joe was joined in his striptease by Ashley Banjo, Alexander Armstrong, Rav Wilding, Kelvin Fletcher, Willie Thorne, Matt Evers and Jason Cundy.
Appearing on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (06.05.19) Willie said: “Joe Pasquale lost his father a few weeks ago.
“He was on the show when his father was alive.
“Condolences to Joe – it was great working with him.”
Pasquale was determined to sign up for the show because he wanted to do his father proud by supporting a good cause.
He previously explained: “The reason I’m here is my dad has prostate cancer.
“You’ve got to go and do it, if you can get your willy out on telly, go and do it and I’ll be proud of it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Halsall and Tisha Merry’s friends are relieved their romance is out in the open.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who plays Tyrone Dobbs on the ITV soap – and the former cobbles star (Steph Britton) went public with their relationship at his co-star Sam Aston and Briony Aston’s wedding on Saturday (04.05.19), after the pair had told their pals to keep quiet about their coupling.
One of Tisha’s friends posted a picture of the couple and admitted she was pleased she would “no longer get b*****ed” for sharing the image, and said it made her “eyes leak” seeing her friend “so happy”.
The couple had both shared the same image of themselves embracing in the sunshine at Sam and Briony’s wedding.
Alan captioned the picture: “Congratulations Mr & Mrs Aston
What a wonderful day, we’re so proud to be part of it (sic)”
Tisha simply wrote a yellow heart emoji as her caption, and Alan posted in the comments: “You’re not a bad + 1 I suppose (sic)”
In February, Alan shared a picture of himself and Tisha but the pair played down romance rumours at the time.
He wrote: “Day out at the rugby”
Alan and former ‘Corrie’ co-star Lucy-Jo Hudson (Katy Harris) split last year after nine years of marriage. The former couple have five-year-old daughter Sienna-Rae together.
Former ‘Hollyoaks’ star Lucy-Jo – whose last appearance as Donna-Marie Quinn came just two weeks ago – has since moved on with new boyfriend Lewis Devine.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais has finished the first draft of ‘After Life’ series two.
The 57-year-old comedian admitted penning the script has been “hard” but he loves rewriting scripts, and he enjoyed a celebratory glass of wine after completing the initial screenplay for the much-anticipated second season of the Netflix comedy.
He wrote on Twitter: “Writing is hard. Rewriting is fun. Drinking wine when you’ve just finished a first draft is f***ing great. (sic)”
Ricky also shared a picture of himself clutching hold of the script.
The ‘Office’ star’s tweet came just minutes after he thanked fans for praising the first series of the comedy, as well as some of his other work.
He wrote: “Thanks for all your amazing comments about #AfterLife, #Humanity, and #Derek, still flooding in. You are the best fans in the world. (sic)”
Netflix confirmed in April that ‘After Life’ will be renewed for a second series.
The show will air again in 2020, after the streaming service ordered six more 30-minute episodes.
In the programme, Ricky plays Tony, a suicidal man who responds to the loss of his wife of 25 years by opting to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he wants with no inhibitions.
He said in a statement: “I have never had a reaction like this before. It’s been insane.
“And heart-warming, but now I have to make sure the second season is even better so I’ll probably have to work much harder than usual. Annoying really.”
Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos added: “‘After Life’ has moved audiences from laughter to tears around the world and we are thrilled to announce that Ricky Gervais will be back with a second season on Netflix.

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Derbyshire was “sh***ing it” ahead of meeting Martina Navratilova, and couldn’t stop hugging the tennis legend.
The 50-year-old broadcaster came face-to-face with the 62-year-old superstar – widely regarded as one of the best female tennis players of all time – while filming for ‘The All New Monty Ladies’ Night’, on which the pair and other stars will strip to raise awareness of female cancers, and she and Coleen Nolan were like “teenage girls” while meeting Martina.
She told this week’s ‘Series Linked’ podcast: “That was an incredible experience. We realised that to have someone of her legendary status on board who’s had breast cancer herself, and who you wouldn’t necessarily imagine to have had breast cancer.
“Obviously, sporty, healthy, determined, the stamina and all that sort of stuff.
“So Coleen [Nolan] and I went over to where she lives in Miami and we met her. We were sh***ing it, I’ve got to be honest.
“We were scared because she’s so … Martina Navratilova is really daunting. In a good way, such a legend, successful etc etc. And then we met her.
“We were a bit like little teenage girls. It’s Martina. And we hugged and I said, ‘Hi. How are you? Thanks for meeting us.’
“And then we got into her convertible car and just before we got in, I was getting in the back seat. I said, ‘I know it sounds really pathetic, but can I just hug you again because you are a legend?’ Obviously, she hugged me.
“She must be used to that all the time and I just felt really pathetic but I did it. Because I’m in awe of this woman. She’s amazing. And we got to know her over that first meeting.”
Victoria and Coleen teamed up to take on Martina in a tennis match, and the radio presenter found it “so funny” that she was advising the tennis legend on the court, and that the ‘Loose Women’ panellist was throwing expletives in Martina’s direction.
She added: “We got to know her a bit over a period of hours and then we played tennis with her. By that stage, oh my God, we were having such a laugh.
“We felt confident enough, it was me and Coleen obviously, against … and she was knocking them over the net and I was saying, ‘Listen, Martina listen.’
“And she was saying, ‘You’re telling me to listen on a tennis court?’ And Coleen was swearing at her and she was just taking it.
“It was so funny and you know what she said, which was really interesting? She said when she takes part in any kind of project or programme, it’s always her on her own. It’s her being filmed knocking a ball over a net.
“She said, ‘It’s so nice to have some people to bounce off. Some women to have a laugh with.’ ”
‘The All New Monty Ladies’ Night’ airs tonight (07.05.19) at 9pm on ITV.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Russo wants to direct a Batman movie.
The 47-year-old filmmaker recently helmed Marvel movie ‘Avengers: Endgame’ with his brother Anthony Russo, but has said he’s keen to switch over to the DC Extended Universe to take on a flick starring the caped crusader.
When asked by ComicBook.com which DC character he’d like to direct, he said: “As far as what I collected as a kid, I collected Batman. [That] was one of the DC characters I collected. So it would have to be Batman.”
And although that might be on Joe’s bucket list, he won’t be helming the franchise any time soon, as it’s currently in the hands of director Matt Reeves, who has been working on a film titled ‘The Batman’.
The standalone movie is set to show an earlier version of the superhero set in the 1990s, and is looking to cast younger versions of Batman, Commissioner Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth.
Reeves is said to have added a few more action beats to the script however the focus said to still be on Batman’s detective skills, while The Penguin has been named as one of the script’s main antagonists although there is set to be a ‘Rogues Gallery’ of some of Batman’s most famous foes.
The film will be released on June 25, 2021, and the date was announced earlier this year following the news that Ben Affleck would no longer be starring in the franchise.
The 46-year-old actor portrayed The Dark Knight and his alter ego Bruce Wayne in 2016’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and 2017’s ‘Justice League’ and had a cameo in 2016 villain-led blockbuster ‘Suicide Squad’, but has confirmed he won’t be involved in Reeves’ standalone movie.
Ben had initially been attached to both star in and direct ‘The Batman’, but opted to step down from his role behind the camera in 2017.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Hellraiser’ is set to get a remake.
The 1987 horror movie – which was written and directed by Clive Barker – is getting the revival treatment at Gary Barber’s Spyglass Media Group, according to Variety magazine.
David S. Goyer – who penned ‘The Dark Knight’ – is reportedly on board to produce and pen the script for the remake, alongside Keith Levine under the Phantom Four banner, and Chris Stone, who will oversee the project for Spyglass.
No cast have been announced for the production as of the time of writing, but Barber has described the movie as a “loyal, yet evolved reimagining” of the classic horror flick, which starred the now famous character Pinhead.
The original movie – which was based on Barker’s novella ‘The Hellbound Heart’ – centres around the resurrection of Frank (Sean Chapman), who had opened the door to an alternate dimension and had his body torn to pieces.
Speaking to Variety about the remake, Barber said: “Clive and I go back more than 30 years together. For generations, his brilliantly twisted and imaginative ‘Hellraiser’ haunted the minds of moviegoers with its searing imagery of Pinhead. David is the perfect storyteller to continue Clive’s vision for a new theatrical version of ‘Hellraiser’.”
Whilst Goyer added: “I’ve been a fan of Clive’s work since the original Books of Blood paperbacks and ‘The Hellbound Heart’ novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we’re committed to making something dark and visceral.”
As of the time of writing, there’s also no director attached to the project, and no estimated release date.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds recorded R-rated lines for ‘Pokémon: Detective Pikachu’ – but they didn’t make it to the final cut.
The 42-year-old actor stars as the voice of the titular yellow creature in the fantasy mystery movie, and has said that acting for the role saw him try so many different variations of the scripts jokes, some of which came out a little less child friendly than intended.
He said: A whole bunch of us took passes on the script. I also took a pass on the script. We all got to kind of shape it the way we wanted. I got to make sure that the voice sort of worked the way I think could work for me. Inevitably I’m at the mercy of the filmmakers.
“But it’s motion capture, so it’s all imagination. You go into a room, I’m alone basically … and then it’s just throwing like 800 versions of any joke or any moment up against a wall and leaving it to some poor editor to sort of figure out … Some things would come out a little PG-13, bordering on Rated R. That stuff didn’t make it.”
But Ryan insists the best part of making the movie was being able to “push” the boundaries of acceptable comedy.
He added: “The great thing about this world is that you can be totally edgy and totally push it, and still stay within the boundaries of a movie that you can take little kids to and adults. That was the trick.”
The star still wants to see the film reimagined as an R-rated flick though, especially if Pikachu was placed in a gritty crime drama such as ‘Goodfellas’.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, he said: “I think if you could remake a Pikachu version of ‘Mean Streets’, that might be kind of fun. Or ‘Goodfellas’.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant Middleton doesn’t make eye contact with his son if he gets injured to try to prevent the youngster from crying.
The 38-year-old TV star – who is best known as the chief instructor on Channel 4’s ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ – says he is training his nine-year-old son Gabriel to control his emotions, but admits he is going easier on his daughter Shyla because he thinks boys should be tougher than girls.
Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her podcast ‘Happy Mum, Happy Baby’, he said: “I do say to him, ‘Son, come on, you’re a little man now, have a stiffer upper lip.’
“If he was to fall over and hurt his knee and look up at me, I avoid eye contact. The moment he sees my eyes he’s going to start crying.
“However, if it was my daughter, I’d be straight over there to comfort her.”
Gabriel is a fan of Thai boxing, but when he gets hit his father tells him to “harness that aggression” and be strong.
Ant added: “If I take him, he’ll get hit and I’ll give him a nod as if to say, ‘It’s OK son, harness that aggression and use it.’
“That’s life. It’s not being sexist, it’s not being non-PC. I’ll say it how it is and, in my heart of hearts, I think I’m doing the right thing.”
The former soldier previously described killing someone as “satisfying” and admitted it feels “like nothing at all”.
Writing in his book ‘First Man In: Leading from the Front’, Ant said: “Most people I meet don’t have the courage to ask the question: What’s it like to kill a man?
“Killing someone feels like pulling your trigger finger back a few millimetres. It feels like hearing a dull pop.
“It feels like seeing a man-shaped object fall away from your sights.
“It feels like getting the job done. It feels satisfying.
“But beyond that, killing someone feels like nothing at all.”
