Colin Hanks to return in Jumanji sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Hanks will be back in the ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ sequel.
The 41-year-old actor will reprise his role as the adult version of Alex Vreeke, also portrayed as a teenager by Mason Guccione in the 2017 family action film. Alex becomes video game avatar Jefferson ‘Seaplane’ McDonough when the young gamer gets sucked into the Jumanji world.
Colin in good company as Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Nick are also heading back into Jumanji for the sequel. Director Jake Kasdan is also back helming the project.
It was also revealed that teen cast, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff and Mason – who all appeared at the beginning and end of the film as children who were transformed into adult avatars – will also reprise their roles.
The ‘Fargo’ star explained that he’s started shooting in the US and doesn’t get to join the rest of the cast in the “plush, tropical” Hawaii.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said: “I got to shoot all my stuff in Atlanta. Since I was one of the characters that existed outside of the game, I don’t get the plush, tropical locale.”
The original 1981 book and 1995 movie of the same name both told the story of a magical board game in which wild jungle animals came into the real world.
But the 2017 reboot updated the concept by making the game into a video game in which four teens transported into its world, where the kids changed into grown-up avatars.
Movie legends Danny Glover and Danny DeVito have also signed up to the forthcoming film.
The film is currently eyeing a Christmas release date later this year, with production having started in January in Atlanta and Hawaii and running through April 26.

Channel 4’s Christmas concern for This is England 88

OHMYGOSSIP — Channel 4 bosses nearly didn’t put ‘This is England 88’ out over the 2011 festive period after Shane Meadows and Jack Thorne co-wrote “the darkest Christmas special anyone has ever written”.
Jack – who is also known for writing stage play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ – expected him and Shane would be penning a “joyous” special, which grew into a three-part series that aired from December 13-15 2011, but he enjoyed what they came up with even if the channel had reservations.
He said: “I remember, when we were doing ‘This is England 86’ and Shane said, ‘I want to do a Christmas special next,’ and I was so expecting the Christmas special would be this slightly joyous experience where we spend time with the Woodfords and that kind of stuff, and we literally wrote the darkest Christmas special anyone has ever written.
“I remember Channel 4 going, ‘Well, I don’t know if we can put it on exactly over Christmas…’ I love that we can do that.”
While Jack believes the script for ‘This is England 88’ was the “best” script he has ever been a part of, he admits it didn’t end up on screen exactly as written, and says there is an “awful lot of improvisation” in his and Shane’s work.
He said: “Our job is to make the scripts as real as possible so Shane knows he’s got a story he wants to tell.
“So, we perfect them, always. Then Shane takes those scripts and he makes the magic. He’s not a director that’ll turn back to the page and go, ‘Oh, what’s this comma doing here?’
“He’s always: If it feels real in the moment, he’s happy. He’s got the script in his hand and the actors, to varying degrees, have got the scripts in their heads.
“They take the scripts and they do their magic with it. Honestly I think the script for ‘This is England 88’, probably the best I’ve ever been part of, but it didn’t end up on screen the way we’d written it.”
The pair have teamed up again to write forthcoming Channel 4 drama ‘The Virtues’, and Jack admits he always “drops everything” when Shane comes calling.
When asked what attracted him to the project – which features ‘This is England’ star Stephen Graham as recovering alcoholic Joe who has stopped drinking, but lost his family in the process – Jack replied: “Shane Meadows.
“Shane wanted to tell this story and when Shane calls I drop everything. Always.”

Ben Shephard won’t do Strictly Come Dancing because of curse

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Shephard’s wife won’t let him take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter has ruled out the idea of strutting his stuff on the ballroom floor and it seems he won’t be following in the footsteps of his co-stars – including Richard Arnold and Kate Garraway – after he admitted the infamous ‘Strictly’ “curse” isn’t worth the risk.
Speaking on the ITV breakfast programme, Susanna Reid – who also appeared on the BBC show when she was runner-up in 2013 – said: “Three quarters of us have unashamedly busted out our moves on national television. Ben Shephard, it is time for you to get onto ‘Strictly.’ ”
However, Ben – who married Annie Perks in 2004 and has shares two sons with her – responded: “You know why I can’t do it? Because my wife doesn’t want me to have an affair.”
Susanna added: “Oh, because of the curse of ‘Strictly’? Actually, that’s a really good point, it has been pretty bad recently.”
The so-called ‘Strictly’ curse suggests being on the show causes couples to break up when celebrities embark on romances with their dance partners.
However, judge Craig Revel Horwood previously dismissed the suggestion that the programme is to blame for any failed relationships, insisting the so-called “curse” never strikes anyone in a “strong, loving relationship”.
The 54-year-old star explained: “You’re dancing up close and personal and spending all of your time with that one person. Of course people fall in love.
“But my point is, if your relationship in real life is suffering anyway, it’s going to happen anyway whether it happens on ‘Strictly’ … or in real life. If you have a strong loving relationship in the first place, that stuff just doesn’t happen.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant McPartlin will return to the TV BAFTAs on Sunday (12.05.19) – after missing last year’s ceremony.
The 43-year-old TV presenter didn’t attend the 2018 spectacle because he was taking time out of the spotlight due to a drink-driving conviction, leaving his sidekick Declan Donnelly to walk the red carpet alone, but he will be back at London’s Royal Festival Hall this year.

AJ Pritchard reportedly romancing dancer Abbie Quinnen

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Pritchard is reportedly romancing dancer Abbie Quinnen.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star met fellow dancer Abbie when she auditioned to be a part of his debut solo dance tour, ‘Get On The Floor Live’, and the pair have reportedly hit it off straight away and have been dating “for a while now”.
A source told The Sun: “AJ fell for Abbie the moment he saw her and they’ve been dating for a while now. She auditioned as a dancer for his ‘Get On The Floor Live’ tour and AJ snapped her up straight away.
“It’s very early days between them but their friends think they make a perfect pairing. They’ve been on a number of low key dates and were seen being very tactile with each other at a couple of parties during the tour.”
AJ, 24, and Abbie, 23, have yet to go public with their speculated romance, but they are believed to have spent Bank Holiday Monday (06.05.19) enjoying a romantic day out together in London.
The Sun reports they had lunch together at private member’s club High Road House in West London before AJ left the capital for Nottingham, to continue his stint on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing Professionals’ tour.
For the BBC Latin and ballroom dance star, the romance comes after he was previously linked to Caroline Flack, as well as having rumours follow him in connection to his two previous ‘Strictly’ partners, Paralympic champion Lauren Steadman, and Saturdays singer Mollie King.
Earlier this year, the dance hunk said he hated putting labels on relationships, and said he just wants to be “happy” in a partnership.
He said: “You never know how times will change in where you are in your life. But it is always about being happy and being true to yourself.
“Like always following your heart – obviously listen to your brain – but really just at that time in your life.”

Adam Collard to join Geordie Shore?

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Collard is set to join ‘Geordie Shore’.

A source told The Sun Online: “‘Geordie Shore’ has undergone some huge changes this year and after they culled off the bigger names and brought in new faces, they’ve realised they need more star quality.
“Adam’s got a huge following after ‘Love Island’ and is the perfect fit for the show. He is handsome, loves to party and will bring a new dimension to the house. Adam was approached about joining and after mulling it over is preparing to sign up.
“He’s really popular in Newcastle and is happy being filmed going out partying and having fun with people like Chloe Ferry and Sam Gowland.”
And the 22-year-old star will no doubt jump at the chance to join the cast now that he’s back on the dating scene following his split from Zara McDermott recently.
The former couple – who met in the villa last summer – were together for seven months until Zara announced her decision to call it quits on her Instagram account.
She said at the time: “I am heartbroken to announce that Adam and I have parted ways. I love him very much and will always have a special place in my heart for him and our time spent together.
“I have tried so hard to be the best person I can possibly be and to make it work.
“Sometimes in life, you just aren’t enough for someone; no matter what do for them or how much you try to me.

Laura Carmichael says Downton film felt ‘like holiday’

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Carmichael has admitted shooting the ‘Downton Abbey’ movie felt like a “holiday”.
The 32-year-old actress reprised her role as Lady Edith Crawley in the big-screen spin-off and admitted it wasn’t as intense a project to work on as it was to film the drama series.
She said:” It was so much fun, we had such a dreamy time.
“It’s much quicker doing a film than eight episodes of a series, so it felt like a holiday with mates.”
And Laura admitted she and her castmates had no hesitation in signing up for the film because it was something they’d always pledged to do if creator Julian Fellowes was involved.
She told the Radio Times: “It was nostalgic. All of us always felt that if Julian Fellowes wrote it, we’d do it, we’re so fond of our characters and what that job did for all of us.
“We really care about it and have a lot of affection for it.
“We hope it’s not destroying the image we left you with.”
Laura can next be seen in another period series, ‘The Spanish Princess’ – which tells the story of Henry VIII’s first wife Catherine of Aragon – and she found it helpful to don a corset to play Margaret Pole, even though it wasn’t a particularly comfortable costume.
She explained: “I love it and I’ve not done 16th century before.
“You can’t slouch in this costume or travel very far in it. It puts you in a regal and upright stance, which is helpful for the role.
“Filming in incredible sets and ancient abbeys and castles also gave me a feel for that period.”

Danny Boyle praises film festivals as TV’s influence grows

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Boyle says “film festivals are crucial” as TV’s influence continues to grow.
The ‘Yesterday’ director – whose new movie focuses on a musician who finds himself in a world where no one else remembers The Beatles – has opened up on the significance of events focusing on the film industry despite the rise of popularity for streaming platforms and big budgets TV series.
Speaking after the Tribeca Film Festival closed with the world premiere of his latest project, he told Variety: “Film festivals are crucial, more and more crucial, especially as television grows in importance.
“The singular vision that a film says, that is one event, one event in time for you to experience…Tribeca is really crucial to that, to hearing new voices.”
The 62-year-old filmmaker also heaped praise on the Fab Four – Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr – for the way they impacted the world, and he admitted he couldn’t “imagine” where we’d be without the ‘Hey Jude’ hitmakers.
He added: “It’s impossible to imagine it actually…They changed the world really.
“They were the first really to say, we want to concentrate on love and pleasure and music…we want to celebrate humanity. And they do that in a wonderful way.”
‘Yesterday’ tells the story of singer-songwriter Jack Malik (Himesh Patel), who has an accident and wakes up to realise he is the only person who remembers The Beatles.
The movie also stars Lily James as Jack’s best friend Ellie, Kate McKinnon as US agent Debra and features the likes of Ed Sheeran and James Corden as themselves.

Josh Brolin almost had bigger Guardian of the Galaxy role

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brolin almost had a much bigger role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
The actor – who played villain Thanos – made his first appearance in the post-credits sequence for ‘The Avengers’, before reappearing in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, and it has been revealed plans were in place for him to have a much more significant part to play in the latter.
Charlie Wren – former visual development head for Marvel Studios – told Looper: “Thanos’ role would have been significantly larger.
“We would have seen some of the relationship [and] tensions play out between him and his kids […] Ronan’s role would have decreased, with Thanos taking on more.”
Instead, bosses went with a slow build to ‘Infinity War’ when Thanos would wipe out half of the world – but he was almost cut completely from ‘Guardians’.
Wren added: “It was decided to cut Thanos out of ‘Guardians’ completely in order to have a slower reveal of him.
“It wasn’t until right before the shoot that I was told that Thanos would have a role in the film, so designing him and his throne was pretty rushed. […]
“I only had a couple days left to design him on his throne. I made some improvements from the first design, in which we saw the side of his face.”
Wren also opened up about his work designing Thanos as a character, and revealed it was also “important” to match his iconic look from the comics.
he explained: “Because he was going to play such a defining role in the MCU later, it was important to capture the look that fans know of him: an enormous bulky purple frame, bluish fabric, complemented by a golden armor in the shape of a slight crescent moon accentuating his shoulders, leading up to large slits along his chin, and finally capped by a helmet that reflects the shape language of his body armor.”
