Kate Winslet to star in Black Beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Winslet is set to star in the ‘Black Beauty’ reboot.
The 43-year-old actress and Mackenzie Foy have been announced as the first two stars attached to the latest adaptation of the classic equine novel of the same name, written by Anna Sewell in 1877.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate will be providing the voice of the titular horse, while 18-year-old Mackenzie – who is best known for her work as Renesmee Cullen in ‘The Twilight Saga’, and as Clara in Disney’s ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’ – will star as the lead.
‘Adolescence’ director Ashley Avis is on board to helm the new feature, and is adapting the script herself from Sewell’s novel, which is told as a fictional autobiography of the wild horse.
In a change to Sewell’s book, Black Beauty will be a wild mustang captured on the Wyoming Plains, rather than a carriage horse.
The film will see a young 17-year-old girl (Foy) bond with Black Beauty (Winslet), who helps her overcome the tragic death of her parents.
Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer will produce ‘Black Beauty’ for Constantin Film, with Martin Moszkowicz executive producing.
Mister Smith Entertainment is handling world sales and will be introducing the project to buyers next week in Cannes.
‘Black Beauty’ has been adapted for both film and television multiple times, most recently in a 1994 version starring Sean Bean and David Thewlis, with Alan Cumming as the voice of the horse.
As of the time of writing, there are no other casting announcements, and no release date has been set.

Jason Manford reveals mental health struggle in emotional video

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Manford has struggled with depression after a health scare earlier this year.
The 37-year-old star has responded to a fan asking why he hasn’t been as active on social media lately, and in a candid video the comedian explained what he’s been going through.
Posting on Facebook, he said: “At the beginning of the year I had a bit of a health scare and, I wouldn’t go as far to say I had a breakdown, but I had a struggle mentally and I found it very difficult to deal with.
“I had a few weeks off from my tour and then I cracked on and got through it.
“I just wanted to say it’s taken me this long to be brave enough to say it really, because I’ve been struggling, finding things hard and I think social media can sometimes not help with that. I’m not just talking about trolls and people being nasty, I mean that’s sort of just par for the course.
“Even just bad news, nastiness and world events and people arguing about whatever the topic of the day is even down to comparing your life.”
Jason – who encouraged men to talk to their loved ones if they find themselves at a low point – admitted he felt like he’d let his children down, and the father-of-five even asked himself why he felt “bad” despite living a “lovely life”.
He added: “When I was at my worst and lowest and I felt I let my kids down and couldn’t do my job anymore.
“I suffer from anxiety and depression, and it’s really hard sometimes, and then I think how dare you with your lovely life feel bad… Like I said your problems are relative.”

Jamie Oliver to be celebrated in This is Your Life-style show

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Oliver is to be the subject of a ‘This is Your Life’-style show on Channel 4.
The 43-year-old celebrity cook – who shot to fame on his BBC TV show ‘The Naked Chef’ in 1999 – will be celebrated with a programme which will be presented by Davina McCall and go behind the scenes at his house.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Jamie’s good pal Davina will sit down with him for a cosy chat about the highs and lows of his career.
“It will be charted with photos, news clips and interviews with a host of stars and old friends as well as special messages from those he has met along the way.”
The one-off special, which is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year, will also feature unique access to his wife Jools, 44, and their five kids, Poppy, 17, Daisy, 16, Petal, 10, Buddy, eight, and two-year-old River.
While Jamie has tasted plenty of success with various TV shows, including ‘Jamie’s Ministry of Food’, over the years, he recently admitted juggling his business empire left him feeling “sad for a bit too long”.
He said: “I think I’m generally known for being very optimistic, bubbly and definitely glass half full.
“But one day I felt sad. And for a bit too long. It wasn’t depression but I was a bit stupid. I wasn’t sleeping much.
“I’d get home, see my wife Jools, cook a dinner. Then she would fall asleep because she’s a mum, but I’m wired.
“The phone is pinging. Ping ping. I was going to bed at 1am consistently and getting up at 4am or 5am. It caught up with me.”

Isabel Hodgins: Emmerdale assault plot is huge responsibility

OHMYGOSSIP — Isabel Hodgins felt a “huge responsibility” when ‘Emmerdale’ bosses told her Victoria Barton was going to be sexually assaulted.
The 25-year-old actress took to Twitter to thank the ITV soap’s supporters for their “kind messages” after her character’s harrowing plot played out in last night’s (08.05.19) flashback episode.
She tweeted: “Thank you for all your kind messages about tonight’s episode. When emmerdale told me I was doing this storyline I was like oh crumbs that is a huge responsibility!!! (sic)”
And Isabel is now hoping the hard-hitting storyline will help “at least one person”.
She tweeted: “If this story helps at least one person I’ll be forever thankful (sic)”
The plot is part of Emmerdale’s Big Night Out series of episodes, which first aired a few weeks ago when several villagers went out clubbing for the night and a number of terrible incidents occurred.
Viewers have been unsure the exact details of the fateful night until this week when flashback episodes have revealed what went on.
The cast had to film night-time scenes in the early hours, but Isabel had “so much fun” shooting the clubbing scenes.
She wrote on Instagram: “These ladies Had so much fun on these night shoots with the best people. And now it’s nearly time for Victoria’s flash back of that night. (sic)”
On Tuesday night (07.05.19), the soap aired a double bill, and in one of the flashback episodes, Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) was left for dead by Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), Tracy Metalfe (Amy Walsh) and Priya Kotecha (Fiona Wade) after it was revealed she has been grooming Leyla’s son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) for weeks.
Following the ep, Louisa wrote on Instagram: “Blown away by all your amazing messages about tonight’s episode. Thank you. It was an epic intense cold and smelly experience made bearable by the best team and an owl. (sic)

Jacob Batalon was in hysterics when Spider-Man turned to dust

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ star Jacob Batalon was “hysterically” laughing when Peter Parker turned to dust in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
The 22-year-old actor – who plays Spider-Man’s best friend Ned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films – admitted that although he felt “really emotional” during the scene in which Tom Holland’s superhero was killed by the villainous Thanos, he couldn’t help but laugh “really loudly”.
Speaking to SlashFilm, he said: “I don’t want to seem like I’m heartless (the scene) was crazy, it was sad! I felt really emotional.
“I guess just being on the other side of things, you don’t get as shocked as you think you would. So yeah, but it was a really good scene.
“In the theater, I was actually laughing, like really loudly, like hysterically laughing. All the people who were crying and upset stared and saw me, and when they started to recognise me, I turned my head away and stared at the wall. That was me watching the movie.”
Jacob’s character will next be seen in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ and the ‘Night School’ star thinks his dynamic with Spider-Man hasn’t changed much at all in the upcoming film.
He explained: “I don’t think it’s changed that much. It’s pretty much the same sort of deal. I think for the most part in Far From Home, he’s not really focusing on being a hero, per se.
“He sort of begrudgingly helps them fight off these monsters. What he really just wants to relax. That dynamic isn’t on display too much, but it’s still very hilarious how we try to keep it a secret from MJ (Zendaya) Flash (Tony Revolori) all the kids.”

Helen Flanagan ‘misses’ Coronation Street and will ‘definitely’ return

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan will “definitely” return to ‘Coronation Street’ because she misses the soap “so much”.
The ‘Corrie’ actress went on maternity leave in June last year, and insists her alter-ego Rosie Webster will certainly be back on the cobbles at some point but she just needs to manage a comeback around her daughters, Matilda, four, and 11-month-old Delilah, who she shares with Glasgow Celtic footballer Scott Sinclair.
She said: “I miss ‘Coronation Street’ so much, and I am definitely am going to go back. Definitely.
“It’s just working it around my girls.
“Matilda is at the stage now where she is four and she needs to be taken to all her lessons and obviously with me living in Scotland it’s a four-hour drive [to Manchester]. Delilah is nearly one.
“But I just love it [‘Corrie’] so much.”
Should Helen return to Weatherfield this year she may not see much of her on-screen sister Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), who announced in April she is expecting her first child, and the 28-year-old star has tipped her pal to be “the best mum”.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Helen added: “I really miss Sally [Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe] so much, and I miss Brooke and she’s having a baby now, which is amazing.
“It’s really nice because when she found out she was pregnant she rang me straight away. I was so excited because she’ll be the best mum.”
Helen recently admitted ‘Corrie’ is a great place to work for a mum or dad because everyone shares parenting tips.
She said: “We all share parenting tips in the green room at ‘Corrie’. It’s such a family atmosphere.
“I went to the National Television Awards the other week, which was fab.
“It was really fun to get glammed up again and to feel nice in my dress. I took Delilah too – my best friend looked after her while I went to the awards.
“All my old ‘Corrie’ mates got to meet her at breakfast.”

Helen Worth praises people of Manchester’s spirit

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Worth thanked the people of Manchester for showing the world the city would not be defeated by terrorism.
The ‘Coronation Street’ legend – known for playing Gail Platt on the ITV soap – and ‘Cold Feet’ actor John Thomson presented the Judges’ Special Award to The Spirit of Manchester at the Pride of Manchester Awards on Wednesday night (08.05.19).
The prize recognises how the 2.5 million people in the city have come together following the horrific 2017 Manchester Arena terror attack, a suicide bombing which occurred at an Ariana Grande concert at the venue, leaving 23 dead and 139 wounded.
Helen told the crowd: “Thank you for showing the world that an act of terrorism cannot defeat the spirit of Manchester.”
John added: “The key word of the night is pride. The running theme is love, it’s inspiring – so much compassion and humility.
“Everyone in the room tonight are the true celebrities.”
Among those killed were ‘Corrie’ super-fan Martyn Hett, whose mother Figen Murray was among those collecting the Judges’ Special Award at the ceremony at Manchester’s The Principal Hotel.
Former ‘Corrie’ star Paula Lane (Kylie Platt) recently portrayed Martyn’s best friend Rachel in theatre production ‘#BeMoreMartyn: The Boy with the Deirdre Tattoo’, which celebrated his life.
She said: “He was such a big fan that he had a tattoo of Deirdre Barlow on his calf. I know he will have watched me as Kylie Platt on TV all the time.
“I also have a feeling our paths may have crossed at some point.
“Martyn would be totally made-up to know about this play and I feel it’s been sent my way for a reason.
“I’m sure some of my ‘Corrie’ colleagues will be coming to see me, plus I’m really looking forward to taking the play to Brighton and London.”
And last year, Faye Brookes – who plays Kate Connor on the cobbles – was inked with a bee tattoo in tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing.
She shared a picture of her tattoo and wrote “proud” on the image.

Gregory Finnegan’s cat goes missing

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregory Finnegan is “fearing the worst” after his cat went missing.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor – who plays James Nightingale in the Channel 4 soap – took to Instagram to reveal his beloved four-legged friend left his house over the weekend and hasn’t been seen since.
He wrote: “This old timer wandered out of the house at the weekend and hasn’t been seen since. Fearing the worst (sic)”
The 38-year-old actor’s co-star Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) sympathised with the star about his missing moggy.
She wrote: “Oh no!”
Several of Gregory’s fans were quick to offer him advice about his lost love, with one supporter suggesting he empties the contents of this vacuum cleaner into his garden to help his cat find their home again.
They wrote: “Not sure if anyone else has mentioned but empty your hoover contents into your garden somewhere as well as leaving his litter tray outside. If he’s a little lost he will be able to smell his scent. Our cat disappeared for 3 weeks once, strolled back at 5am one morning looking for his breakfast. They do make you worry!! (sic)”
Another fan also offered Gregory hope by revealing their own cat went missing for three weeks before returning.
They posted: “Fingers crossed, moggies have a habit of wandering off, my boy went for 3 weeks before he came home one day. (sic)”
Someone else shared: “My little auld man did the same , he buggered off for 2.5 weeks I had just accepted he had taken himself off to hide and pass away as they do. Then I left windows open at night and he was moaning at the window randomly. Fingers crossed same happens ! (sic)”
But the ‘Oaks’ actor isn’t the only soap star to have his cat go missing.
In 2017, ‘Emmerdale’ actress Samantha Giles (Bernice Blackstock) appealed to the Twittersphere to share a poster about her lost ginger moggy Bob, and he later returned after six days away.
She was also advised to empty her vacuum cleaner bag along her path.
After his safe return, she said: “I was told by a woman from a lost cat Facebook page that you can empty the hoover bag down your path and cats can pick up the scent.
“She also told me that if you use diluted urine and do a trail around the streets with that, it can also help cats pick up the smell of their home. You’d do anything wouldn’t you to get them back.”

Gregory Finnegan’s cat dead

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregory Finnegan’s cat has died.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor took to social media earlier this week to reveal his beloved feline friend Jacko had gone missing, and while the 38-year-old star’s pussy pal returned home, he had to be put to sleep after coming back “in a bad way”.
Gregory wrote on Twitter: “Strange night. My missing cat Jacko found his way home in a bad way and after a consultation with a vet had to be put to sleep. Thankful that I got to say goodbye to my best little bud who’s been with me through so much. Upset & depressed I stopped at a pub on the way home (1/2) (sic)”
However, the star’s night had a bizarrely positive ending.
Following his pet predicament, Gregory popped into a pub to drown his sorrows only to remember his favourite football team Tottenham Hotspur were playing in a crucial Champions League semi-final.
The north London side made a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down at half-time against Ajax to win 3-2 and progress to the competition’s final – and the ‘Oaks’ actor believes his cat played a part in the “incredible” fightback.
He wrote: “(2/2) And remembered there was a game going on. Incredible scenes which left my shattered emotions further shredded. Gonna miss you Jacko, you watched me tear my hair out watching Spurs over the past 17 years and I’m going to credit you with the incredible comeback. (sic)”
Just days ago, Gregory was “fearing the worst” about his cat after he went missing.
He wrote on Instagram: “This old timer wandered out of the house at the weekend and hasn’t been seen since. Fearing the worst (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Graziano Di Prima has got engaged.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional dancer popped the question to Giada Lini, his girlfriend of four years, live on stage on Tuesday (07.05.19) while the pair were performing in production ‘Burn the Floor’.
Giada, 28, took to Instagram to write in Italian that Graziano – who also celebrated his 25th birthday yesterday – “never stops making me fall in love with [him] every day”.
Graziano’s fellow ‘Strictly’ pro Kevin Clifton, who also stars in the production, watched on as he got down on one knee for the proposal.
‘Strictly’ pro Oti Mabuse was also at the Watford-based theatre, and she couldn’t wait to take to her Instagram Stories to congratulate the happy couple.
She posted a picture of Graziano lifting Giada up, and added the caption: “CONGRATULATIONS, SHE SAID YES!! (sic)”
Fellow pro Johannes Radebe also looked on in delight from the stage, and ‘Strictly’ dancer Katya Jones took to her Instagram Stories to congratulate the pair, who have been dating since 2015.
She wrote: “Not only it’s Graziano’s birthday … he proposed and Giada aid YES!! (sic)”
Graziano was partnered with DJ Vick Hope on last year’s series of the BBC One Latin and ballroom show, and Giada admitted at the time that she was “not jealous” of him having to dance closely with his partner.

Fired Danny Baker says BBC have ‘thrown him under the bus’

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Baker says the BBC have “thrown him under the bus” after he was fired over his controversial Twitter joke about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new baby.
In a now deleted tweet, the 61-year-old broadcaster shared a photo of a couple holding hands with a chimpanzee wearing clothes with the caption “Royal Baby leaves hospital”, and many users accused the former Radio 5 Live presenter of mocking Duchess Meghan’s racial heritage.
Following the immediate backlash, Danny tweeted an apology after deleting the offending post and said the offensive meaning behind it “never occurred” to him.
The presenter has now insisted he would have made the same joke about his “own grandkids” and has branded the BBC as “tremendously weaselly” and slammed the broadcasting house for the “pretentious” way they dealt with the situation.
Speaking in an interview on LBC Radio, he said: “It could have been any posh people I would have done this. It could have been my own grandkids; I would have out a photo out leaving the hospital.
“People get it touch and say, ‘You Know there’s a race thing,’ so I take it down, but then you’re in the barrel. And the BBC decided they’re gonna throw me under the bus and that’s the thing that stings. I think that’s a tremendously weaselly thing to do again.
“When they rang up with their pretentious tones thing morning saying ‘Oh beyond the pale and abhorrent’ I said yes it was but you’re now giving credence to the idea that I now have to reveal myself as a phantom racist after all these years.”
Danny went on to admit that he made a “huge blunder” and acknowledged he shouldn’t have joked about the matter.
He said: “What I can’t do is go round saying, ‘Oh it was only a joke.’ “It wasn’t a joke, it was a mistake, a real huge mistake, a huge blunder.”

David Walliams says Bear Grylls show gave him ‘kick up the butt’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams says his adventures with Bear Grylls gave him a “good kick up the arse”.
The 47-year-old comedian embarked on a series of epic outdoor activities in ‘Bear’s Mission with David Walliams’ and admitted it was a welcome change to his lavish lifestyle, which sees him “go to nice restaurants and stay in nice hotels”.
In an interview with Star TV magazine, he said: “If you’re a well-known person, sometimes you live a pretty cosseted life, where you don’t have to do many things you don’t want to.
“You can go to nice restaurants and stay in nice hotels and that sort of thing. But you very rarely have to rough it.
“So it’s a good kick up the arse to do something that’s real.”
Bear, 44, added: “He definitely had fun at the start as we raced through the mountains off-road. It was a bit of a wild ride and I just remember he was clinging to a flask of tea which ended up all over him.”
It wasn’t all fun for the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge, who confessed he isn’t great with heights and thought he might be in trouble during one intense climbing challenge.
When asked what the most difficult part of the journey was, he said: “Right at the end of the day, when I was exhausted, there was this rope ladder I had to climb. I hope it looks hard on TV.
“And also, I’m not terrified but I find heights really difficult. You think, ‘One little mistake and that’s it. I’m not ready to leave this earth I’ve got a book contract to fulfill.’ ”

Dannii Minogue to return to The X Factor?

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell wants Dannii Minogue to return to ‘The X Factor’.
The 59-year-old music mogul is so desperate to take the ITV talent show back to its heyday that he’s willing to throw £300,000 at the Australian pop star in a bid to tempt her back to the judging panel following her successful three year stint between 2007 and 2010.
A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “‘X Factor’ bosses would love to have Dannii back on the panel — she was part of the show’s dream team in its heyday.
“Her chemistry with the other judges was electric and she loved the role. She’s definitely tempted, and will always be loyal to the show as it gave her such a great platform, but she is really happy with her life now and isn’t sure she wants to rock the boat.
“It would also be very dependent on who she sat next to on the panel as rumours at the time said she didn’t get on well with Sharon Osbourne. Simon thinks it would be a real coup to have her and she is definitely someone he has mooted.”
However, despite the eye-watering amount of cash on offer, Dannii, 47, will no doubt need to think long and hard about her decision as she currently splits her time between Los Angeles and Australia with her nine-year-old son Ethan and her partner Adrian Newman.
As well throwing everything at the civilian series, Simon is also planning to revamp the programme by launching a star-studded line-up.
It’s believed the talent boss has set aside £3 million to attract famous faces for the show.
Gemma Collins – who shot to fame on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – is currently in high demand and also thought to be wanted for the show. Soap stars, former musicians and TV presenters are expected to be approached so they can transform and reboot their careers.

David Attenborough celebrates his birthday with trance anthem

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough is celebrating his birthday by releasing a “trance” club anthem.
The wildlife expert – who turned 93 today (08.05.919) – is launching a competition to find a DJ to remix a field recording he made in Bali 70 years ago and turn it into an Ibiza anthem.
David said: “The villagers play this concerted music with extraordinary precision and real zest.
“So it is haunting music that you hear every night – or you did in those days, in the villages of Bali.”
The TV presenting legend recorded the music for his 1954 BBC TV series, ‘Zoo Quest’, while searching for a Komodo dragon.
The naturalist often took a portable tape recorder on his travels to capture local sounds, but most of his recordings were left unused.
But then, David told Radio 4 producer Julian May, who tracked down the tapes in the BBC Archives and compiled an album of his findings entitled ‘Sir David Attenborough: My Field Recordings From Across The Planet’.
Julian revealed last year: “Back in the 1960s, there were still parts of the world where European music had not been heard.
“The traditions that had been developed over centuries were still continued with no knowledge of Western styles of music, which since then have enveloped the world.
“So these sounds which I captured with that clumsy tape recorder 60 years ago have a quality that you wouldn’t be able to replicate today.”
Now, a competition to remix his upcoming recording is being run with Songlines magazine and music-funding body the PRS foundation.
David will judge the hopeful songs with the help of a panel including Mercury Prize nominee Ghostpoet and BBC 6 Music presenter Cerys Matthews.
His team will pick six finalists and the winner will be left down to a public vote.

Danny Baker sacked by BBC over controversial royal baby joke

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Baker has been sacked by the BBC over his controversial joke about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new baby.
In a now deleted tweet, the 61-year-old broadcaster shared a photo of a couple holding hands with a chimpanzee wearing clothes with the caption “Royal Baby leaves hospital”, and many users accused the former Radio 5 Live presenter of mocking Duchess Meghan’s African-American heritage.
A BBC spokesperson said the post was “a serious error of judgement” and confirmed that the corporation had taken the decision to axe him from his weekly show.
The spokesperson added: “[It] goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us.”
His initial post came after Prince Harry and Meghan – whose mother Doria Ragland is African-American and father is Caucasian – revealed their new son was named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Following the immediate backlash, Danny tweeted an apology after deleting his original post insisting the racial connotation “never occurred” to him.
He wrote: “Sorry my gag pic of the little fella in the posh outfit has whipped some up. Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased. Soon as those good enough to point out it’s possible connotations got in touch, down it came. And that’s it. Now stand by for sweary football tweets (sic)”
He later maintained that “the outfit is the joke”, denying suggestions the image was a comment on Meghan’s mixed race heritage.
He added: “Once again. Sincere apologies for the stupid unthinking gag pic earlier.
“Was supposed to be joke about Royals vs circus animals in posh clothes but interpreted as about monkeys & race, so rightly deleted. Royal watching not my forte. (sic)”
In the wake of his firing, Baker has taken to social media to hit back at the BBC’s decision to fire him and accused the corporation of “pompous faux-gravity”.
He wrote: “The call to fire me from @bbc5live was a masterclass of pompous faux-gravity.
“Took a tone that said I actually meant that ridiculous tweet and the BBC must uphold blah blah blah. Literally threw me under the bus. Could hear the suits knees knocking. #F**kem (sic)”
This is the third time Baker has left the BBC, and the second time he has been axed from ‘5 Live’.
In 1997, he was sacked after he encouraged football fans to target a referee after he awarded a controversial penalty.
In 2012 he resigned and described his bosses as “pinheaded weasels” after he was asked to move to a weekend programme from his weekday timeslot.
Over the years, the ‘Saturday Morning’ show won him the Sony Gold award for Speech Radio Personality of the year three times (2011, 2012, 2014) and the prize for entertainment show of the year in 2013.
