Stacey Solomon in awe of Reese Witherspoon

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Solomon cannot believe Reese Witherspoon even knows who she is.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist will host ‘Renovation Rescue’, the first UK project made by Reese Witherspoon’s production company and Stacey is still in shock.
She told MailOnline: “Oh my God, what an amazing feeling to be asked. I was genuinely like, ‘How does she even know me?’ I still to this day don’t know how they found me. They just said they wanted me. Maybe some of her researchers and her team had seen the show. Well, they would have had to, I guess, to know anything about me.
“I haven’t actually met her. She wrote a message to say how excited she is and we’re hoping to FaceTime her on the day the show goes out. She seems pretty busy changing the world for women in our industry, so that’s OK, I’ll let her off for not coming to Bradford to see us shooting an episode!”
In ‘Renovation Rescue’ Stacey helps couples who have been abandoned by untrustworthy tradespeople.
She said: “Don’t get me wrong, there are always going to be jobs where the professionals are needed. I can’t build a house myself.
“There are so many amazing tradesmen out there, but they’re hard to find and if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you can end up spending loads of money and never getting anything back, which is just devastating.”

Greta Gerwig inspired Emily Blunt’s Fall Guy character

OHMYGOSSIP — Greta Gerwig inspired Emily Blunt’s director character in ‘The Fall Guy’.
In the upcoming action-comedy, Blunt plays film director, Jody Moreno, and revealed she turned to ‘Barbie’ filmmaker Greta for inspiration.
Emily told Total Film: “With the warmth and the charm, I guess there’s a little Greta in there. She was a mix of a few other people I’d met and pulled from.”
Jody was originally in a make-up artist in the first draft but director David Leitch and his wife and producing partner Kelly McCormick decided to make her a filmmaker in order to give the movie more depth.
Kelly said: “Emily’s role was a make-up artist when we sold it, and we converted it to first-time directing right before we gave her a very rough draft. It made it feel like [the character] had more pressure on her.”
Emily added. “We all kind of built her together, because I think, maybe in the original script, she was quite severe, and that sort of tough director. But I think, for me, it’s always more interesting to play someone who’s in a situation where they’re way over their head.”
In ‘The Fall Guy’, Ryan Gosling plays stuntman Colt Seavers and previously revealed he was shocked when director Steven Spielberg praised the film.
Ryan told Variety: “I saw Steven Spielberg walking in my direction.
“I don’t know Steven Spielberg. I thought there’s no way he’s coming to talk to me. And yet he kept getting closer, and then I thought I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to point to him, and he’s going to go, ‘Not you, behind you,’ so I’m not going to do that. Finally, I said, ‘Me?’ and he goes, ‘Yeah you.’ I go, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t think you were coming to talk to me.’ And I stood up and he gave me a hug and said, ‘I just saw Fall Guy and I loved it.’”
Gosling added: “As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t matter anymore what happens.
“Steven Spielberg liked it. That was an all-time moment for me. I’m really excited for people to see it. I think it’s a really special movie.”

Theo James wants to play King Henry III

OHMYGOSSIP — Theo James wants to play King Henry III in a movie.
The 39-year-old ‘Divergent’ star’s latest role is in Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ – a Netflix spin-off of the 2019 film of the same name – playing an aristocrat caught up in a cannabis-growing scheme but he’s admitted he wants to branch out in future and he relishes the idea of playing a historical character liked the famed King of England who had six wives.
Theo told the Guardian newspaper: “I’d like to play a seminal British figure in a different historical period. I know it’s been done so many times, but I’ve always liked the idea of exploring Henry VIII in a way that isn’t defined by the maniacal sociopath.
“Because he was that, but then there’s also the journey to become that man. And he shaped Britain and our sense of social understanding of what it is to be British.”
In the interview, Theo addressed speculation linking him to the role of James Bond – insisting he doesn’t want the part because it would be “terrifying”.
He said: “Everyone’s interested in that [playing Bond] because it’s a big part of British cultural identity, but that probably wouldn’t be me. “I do think there are better people for that job. And, honestly, it would be terrifying: if you do that, there’s no going back. You’re opening Pandora’s box there.”
Theo will next be seen in new movie ‘The Monkey’ which is based on a short story by horror writer Stephen King.
The plot focuses on brothers who discover their dad’s old monkey toy in the attic and it leads to a series of gruesome deaths. It’s due to hit cinemas in April.

Russell Crowe changed ending of new movie at last minute

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Crowe changed the ending of his new movie at the last minute.
The 59-year-old actor stars in ‘Sleeping Dogs’ as an ex-homicide detective with a fractured memory alongside Karen Gillan and director Adam Cooper revealed Crowe shocked him by insisting he wanted to rewrite the ending.
He told Collider: “Yeah, the whole end of the movie. I remember the day when we were shooting the final triangle standoff… Russell showed up that morning, we had two days to shoot that scene, and he was like, ‘I don’t like the scene’. And so I spent, I think, five hours in his trailer with him and we pretty much rewrote the whole scene. So that.
“You know, I also remember the very first scene where Karen’s character meets Harry Greenwood’s character, where Richard first meets Laura. That scene was originally written that Richard walks up to Laura sitting at the punch table and all the lines that Richard currently says in the scene were lines that Laura had previously said in the scene, and I think two days before, we completely flipped the scene.”
Karen also admitted it was difficult to get her ‘Sleeping Dogs’ character, researcher and femme fatale Laura Baine, right.
She said: “It was hard. It was hard to pitch this character because she’s kind of a different person, not every time you see her, but quite a lot. I wanted her to have a slight sort of affectation to her as a vibe, like it’s slightly affected, it’s slightly put on. I think I know who she is underneath it all, but I think as a means of survival, she sort of takes on these characters and I think she’s been watching YouTube. Does the timeline match up with YouTube? Does YouTube exist in the world of Sleeping Dogs? Okay! She watches YouTube videos of intellectuals and sort of emulates them, I think.”

Fern Britton won’t marry for a third time

OHMYGOSSIP — Fern Britton wants to find love again but will never remarry.
The former ‘This Morning’ presenter – who split from second husband Phil Vickery in 2020 – is open to falling in love again but doesn’t want to lose her freedom.
Fern, 66, told The Mail On Sunday newspaper: “I don’t want to live with anyone – and I don’t want to get married again.
“I’m a very independent person and the older I get the more I realise I like freedom.
“If someone incredible came along who could put up with me, I’d say yes. It would be the icing on the cake really.
“But I don’t want to have to be cooking and cleaning and taking care of anybody. Separate houses would do me nicely.”
Fern was previously married to TV executive Clive Jones, but they divorced in 2000. She and Clive share twins Harry and Jack, 29, and daughter Grace, 26.
Fern and Phil have a 22-year-old daughter together and she insisted their split was amicable.
She said: “We simply needed to follow our own paths.
“Over time we realised we weren’t necessarily having the kind of life we once did. It seemed right to say thank you and move on.”

Fern Britton faces the public vote on Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Fern Britton, Zeze Millz, Nikita Kuzmin, and Marisha Wallace are all facing possible eviction from ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 66-year-old TV presenter, Zeze, Nikita and Marisha are facing the dreaded public vote ahead of the double live eviction on Tuesday (19.03.24).
The news was revealed to Fern, Zeze and Marisha during the latest episode of the show, while Nikita volunteered to take the nomination on Sunday evening.
Marisha received four nominations, from David Potts, Fern, Colson Smith and Bradley Riches.
Fern received four nominations, from David, Colson, Nikita and Marisha, while Zeze received three nominations, from Louis Walsh, Nikita and Bradley.
Two housemates are now set to be evicted from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house ahead of the live final later this week.
Earlier in the episode, Fern was summoned to the Diary Room by Big Brother.
She was then told: “Fern, you’ve just found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. That means you’ve been granted one wish, the biggest wish of all.
“You must choose one housemate to be evicted. St Patrick famously banished the snakes from Ireland, and now by finding the pot of gold, you have been selected to banish a housemate.”
Fern was given a red snake to place on the chosen person’s pillow and she ultimately decided to evict Louis. But Big Brother then informed her that she had actually given Louis a free pass, meaning that he couldn’t be evicted from the house.
Louis, 71, was later told that an unnamed housemate had wanted to send him home from the show. However, Fern remained tight-lipped when the news was shared with the group.

Kate Garraway reveals late husband Derek Draper’s final message ahead of new documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway’s late husband Derek Draper suggested making a third documentary about his health struggles – because he wanted “to be heard”.
The former political lobbyist passed away in January aged 56, and the idea for a new documentary, ‘Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story’, which documents the final year of Derek’s life, was devised by the man himself.
When asked why he wanted to take part in the upcoming film, which will air on ITV1 on March 26th, Derek said: “I want to be heard.”
‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Kate hadn’t planned to make a third film, following award-winning documentaries ‘Finding Derek’ and ‘Caring for Derek’.
She said: “Obviously when we started making this documentary early last year, we had no idea the events that would unfold that ultimately took Derek from us.
“And in January 2024, after he had passed, I wondered if it was right that it should ever come to air.
“But I didn’t want to let those who have given us so much support over the last four years down, and the carers paid and unpaid who in their thousands of letters to me, feel Derek’s story has given them a voice.
“Also, I remember so vividly that the idea of making this third documentary at all came from Derek himself.
“I hadn’t planned to make another one. At the beginning of January 2023, he’d been released from a four-month spell in hospital for sepsis and we were very positive about his recovery.
“Derek was determined to keep on getting better and improving. One day, we were sitting together while I was caring for him and he suddenly, from nowhere, asked, ‘Are we making another documentary?’.
“I said, ‘Well I hadn’t really planned to. Were you thinking that you would like to?’. And he said firmly, ‘Yes.’
“I said, ‘Well, if we do, I think we should work on it together and it should be your story, told in your voice.’ ”
Kate has told how Derek became “very emotional” at the idea of the documentary being told in his voice.
She explained: “Derek got very emotional at the idea, because his words and speech were so limited and there were so many things he wanted to say about the struggle we were all having as a family and he wanted to speak up about it.
“I asked Derek, ‘What would be your main message?’ And he said, ‘Never give up fighting for what you believe in and for the people you love.’ ”
Derek had been seriously ill since contracting COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic in 2020.
He spent 13 months in hospital, making him Britain’s longest suffering coronavirus victim, and his health battle had left him with long-lasting organ damage and requiring 24/7 care at home.
‘Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story’ airs Tuesday 26th March at 9pm on ITV1, ITVX and STV.

The Crow remake blasted by original director: ‘It is Brandon Lee’s legacy’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Crow’ remake has been blasted by original director Alex Proyas.
The iconic 1994 movie – which starred the late Brandon Lee – is being remade by filmmaker Rupert Sanders with Bill Skarsgard taking on the lead role, but the man behind the original supernatural thriller doesn’t approve.
He wrote in a Facebook post: “I really don’t get any joy from seeing negativity about any fellow filmmakers work.
“And I’m certain the cast and crew really had all good intentions, as we all do on any film.
So it pains me to say any more on this topic, but I think the fan’s response speaks volumes.
“[‘The Crow’] is not just a movie. Brandon Lee died making it, and it was finished as a testament to his lost brilliance and tragic loss.
“It is his legacy. That’s how it should remain.”
Lee, the son of Hollywood icon Bruce Lee, died aged 28 on the set of the film when he was shot by a prop gun.
The cast and crew completed the film – which told the story of a musician who coems back from the dead to get revenge on a gang who killed him and his fiancee – using a stunt double and digital effects.
Despite backlash over the remake, director Sanders has insisted his version is intended as a tribute to the late actor.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “Obviously, it was a terrible tragedy, and it’s definitely something that we’ve always had in mind through the making of the film.
“Brandon was an original voice and I think he will always be synonymous with ‘The Crow’ and I hope he’s proud of what we’ve done and how we’ve brought the story back again.
His soul is very much alive in this film. There’s a real fragility and beauty to his version of the Crow, and I think Bill [Skarsgard] feels like he is a successor to that.”

‘It would be an honour always!’ Jake Gyllenhaal up for iconic superhero role

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Gyllenhaal has admitted it would be “an honour” to play Batman in a movie.
The 43-year-old actor was previously one of the stars in the frame to portray Bruce Wayne and his Caped Crusader alter-ego in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, with the part eventually going to Christian Bale.
But with DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran set to take their on-screen universe in a new direction with upcoming Batman reboot movie ‘The Brave and the Bold’, Gyllenhaal would like to be considered for the “classic” role.
When asked if he would still be interested in portraying Batman, he told Screen Rant: “Oh, man. That’s a classic. It’s an honour.
“Speaking of playing roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, to me actually roles that other incredible actors have played in the past, which, to me, actually, when I think about it, I’m going to play Iago in ‘Othello’ with Denzel Washington.
“I think about, like, the history of actors that have played that role throughout time, and I’m intimidated by that. So that’s the first level.
“That’s what I’m working on right now. But of course, it would be an honour always. Those types of things and those roles are classics.”
In September, David S. Goyer – who co-wrote the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy with Nolan – revealed he “advocated” for Gyllenhaal during discussions about who could portray Batman.
He said on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast: “We would chat about all sorts of things … there were a number of people who had screen-tested, and I had advocated for Gyllenhaal.
“I mean, Gyllenhaal is amazing, Christian Bale is amazing, so who knows what.”

ITV backtracks on claims Ekin-Su Culculoglu ‘pulled out’ of Lorraine interview

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV has insisted Ekin-Su Culculoglu didn’t cancel her planned appearance on ‘Lorraine’ at the last minute.
The former ‘Love Island’ star – who was evicted from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house last week – had been due to speak to Lorraine Kelly on Monday (18.03.24) but she didn’t appear on the ITV morning show.
In a statement, the broadcaster said last night: “We’d like to clear up a misunderstanding, Ekin-Su did not pull out of the show or throw the programme into chaos this morning.
“We’d love to welcome her back on the programme soon. We apologise for the confusion.”
This is a U-turn from Lorraine’s own comments on the matter, who had confirmed just minutes before the show went on air that her planned guest wouldn’t be joining her.
During a link from ‘Good Morning Britain’, she had been asked about her interview for the reality star.
However, she told Susanna Reid and Ed Balls: “I thought [she would be here] but alas, no. I don’t know what’s happened, I don’t know.
“We’re trying to find out.”
She added that her production team were trying to get to the bottom of the situation, and repeated that Ekin “was due to come in” for a chat.
The confusion comes after Ekin-Su’s explosive interview on ‘Late and Live’ following her CBB eviction, during which she claimed the ITV reality show had been edited to make her appear a certain way.
She argued: “You haven’t seen anything, they’ve cut stuff out… I’m just hurt that I wasn’t portrayed as myself on the show.”
Despite her claims, hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best pointed out that as she’d only just left the house, she couldn’t have seen any of the show yet and so didn’t know what had been aired.
Ekin-Su’s family previously urged ‘CBB’ fans to stop sending her abuse online while she was still on the show.
They said: “Last night was a really sad episode to watch. Ekin-Su has always cared and worn her heart on her sleeve and last night we saw that.
“What made last night a thousand times harder though is seeing and listening to hateful comments, trolling, name calling and physical abuse threats. Nobody deserves this behaviour and to read some of what we did last night.
“@bbuk is a reality entertainment show that is edited to entertain us as viewers. We see an hour of 24 hours each day and the show is a social experiment that has been known to heighten emotions.”

‘Bosses have been thrilled!’ Celebrity Big Brother ‘set to return for a 2nd series on ITV’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ is expected to return for second series on ITV.
The channel’s bosses are said to be “thrilled” by how the current series, the first ever season on ITV, has performed in the ratings, after nearly four million tuned into the launch episode – on TVs, online and mobiles – and it has been streamed more than 12 million times on ITVX.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Bosses have been thrilled with how ‘CBB’ has performed.
“They were already looking forward to series two of the civilian series in the autumn and have now added a second series of the ’CBB’ to the pot.”
ITV were said to have forked out huge sums to attract former ‘X Factor’ judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne to the series, and bosses are said to be pleased with the “buzz” the series has created.
The source added: “The number of viewers watching live has sat solidly above one million all series which is meaty for a daily show at 9pm.
“Of course, the majority of fans these days are watching on catch-up the next morning or on lunch breaks so that’s why execs were particularly chuffed with the consolidated seven-day results.
“The buzz has also been massive, with conversations about the show dominating social media just like the old days.
“It’s the kind of hallmark show that’s in ITV’s DNA.”
A live double eviction will take place on Tuesday night’s (19.03.24) episode of the show – which is co-hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best – when two of Fern Britton, Zeze Millz, Nikita Kuzmin, and Marisha Wallace will get the boot from the abode.
‘Celebrity Big Brother’ continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX and is available in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.

Dave Myers shares heartbreaking message on last-ever Hairy Bikers

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Myers delivered a heartbreaking final message during his last-ever episode of ‘Hairy Bikers’.
The TV presenter died in February, aged 66, after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, and Dave shared a poignant message with viewers during his last appearance on BBC show ‘The Hairy Bikers Go West’.
Sat alongside Si King – his long-time TV partner – Dave said: “Who knows what the future holds but for the moment, I’m living in the present, and it’s pretty fine.”
Dave was undergoing chemotherapy at the time, and Si praised his co-star for shooting the series – which saw them travel around the western half of the UK – despite his health issues.
Si shares: “We’ve done it, but more importantly he’s done it. He’s my mate but I love him like family, like a brother, and I’m lost for words. It’s quite remarkable what he’s done.”
The ending of the episode – which airs on Tuesday night (19.03.24) – also features a heartfelt tribute to Dave.
After the closing credits roll, a statement reads: “In loving memory of our friend, Dave Myers. He’ll be greatly missed.”
In February, Si took to social media to announce Dave’s passing, admitting he was “devastated” by the news.
The 57-year-old TV star wrote on Facebook: “Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing.
“His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. Personally, I am not sure I can put into words how I feel at the moment. I wish you God’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya. (sic)”

Sydney Sweeney took her performance to the limit in Immaculate

OHMYGOSSIP — Sydney Sweeney was determined to “push the boundaries” in ‘Immaculate’.
The 26-year-old star leads the cast of the new psychological horror movie as Cecilia and had no issues with taking risks in the film’s harrowing closing scenes.
Sydney told Variety: “I love finding places that I didn’t know I could unlock – pushing the boundaries and the limits of what people expect to see from me.
“I wish that I had a formulaic answer for how I did it. But whenever a director calls ‘action’, it’s just like a switch. And I allow all of Sydney’s thoughts and feelings and emotions to disappear. And I am now whatever character I’m playing – I’m Cecilia at the moment.
“I don’t like to rehearse; I don’t plan what is going to happen. What you saw (in the film’s final moments) was the first take.”
The ‘Madame Web’ actress had always wanted to star in a horror film and embraced the “emotional trauma” that her character goes through in the picture.
Sydney said: “I always want to do something new. I don’t want to do the same thing over and over again. It’s a lot of the draw, character discovery – I love Cecilia’s journey, and I loved the emotional trauma that she goes through.
“And being in the horror genre is fun, because in that genre, there’s no limitations or boundaries. I always find it so funny when people pick apart a horror film’s rules, or its storytelling. I’m like, ‘It’s a horror film. You’re just having fun.’ It’s not a movie for the Oscars; you know that going into it.
“We want to create something good, but it’s fun having characters that can go to such extreme, absurd places, and people don’t question it.”

Alessandro Nivola to star in The Room Next Door

OHMYGOSSIP — Alessandro Nivola has joined the cast of ‘The Room Next Door’.
The 51-year-old actor has signed up to star with Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton in the first English-language movie from the Oscar-winning Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.
According to a plot synopsis released by Pathe, ‘The Room Next Door’ will follow a troubled mother and her daughter who are separated by global conflict and misunderstanding. War reporter Martha (Swinton) and autofiction novelist Ingrid (Moore) become a witness to each other’s suffering and attempt to reconcile.
The film will address the unfathomable cruelty of war and bring to light how different writers from different genres attempt to depict reality.
Julianne and Tilda’s casting was announced in January after months of online speculation through a social media post by Almodovar’s production company El Deseo.
The Instagram post read: “The actresses are placed under the control of the director from La Mancha in a drama between mother and daughter that will be filmed in the spring in New York and Madrid and will be his first film shot in English.”
John Turturro also has a part in the flick.
Alessandro previously claimed that he has been a back-up casting option for most of his career and doubted that he was the first choice for the main role in ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ – the 2021 movie prequel to the acclaimed TV series ‘The Sopranos’.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “I would say a good percentage of the roles I’ve done have only come to me after somebody dropped out at the last minute.
“This one, I’m sure somebody did drop out because I was offered it a week before it started.”
