Neil Jones was drug tested after ‘every single’ dance competition

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Jones was drug tested after “every single competition” early on in his career.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star revealed that he was constantly checked for illegal substances after competing as the person administering the tests “didn’t really like” him – although Neil, 37, confessed he “didn’t care” as he was confident he’d pass every time.
During a discussion on ‘The Jeremy Vine Show’ about whether to drug test teachers, he said: “I think its involving children so it’s really important and when we were dancing we were checked all the time.
“On the other side, I do see it because the person that was always checking didn’t really like me so he would check me after every single competition, every time. I didn’t care I was happy because I knew [I would pass]. I didn’t care because I knew I was always fine.”
It was revealed earlier this year that Neil and his wife Katya, 35, will be returning to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for a fourth stint on the show alongside the rest of the dancers from last year’s series.
Neil and Katya both joined the show in 2016, but during those years Neil has never been partnered with a celebrity and with former Strictly champion Pasha Kovalev, 39, announcing last month he wouldn’t be returning to the show, Neil teased he could be the one to fill the dancer’s shoes.
He previously hinted: “Yeah, it [would be] great. It would be good. Fingers crossed, we don’t know yet, but yeah”.
The last season of the show saw Kevin Clifton, 36, and Stacey Dooley, 32, claim the GlitterBall trophy 31, after beating the likes of Pasha and his celebrity partner Ashley Roberts, 37.

Steve Coogan: I haven’t ‘said goodbye’ to Alan Partridge yet

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Coogan says he hasn’t “said goodbye” to Alan Partridge yet.
The 53-year-old actor has starred as the comic broadcaster since 1991 but has vowed to continue in the role on and off for a number of years.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “I haven’t said goodbye to him just yet. He comes and he goes. He’s like an annoying uncle you see from time to time.”
Meanwhile, ‘The Time with Alan Partridge’s co-writers Neil and Rob Gibbons recently revealed a new Alan Partridge series is in the works.
They said: “Actually, there are other formats on our list, one of which we’re – I don’t know if we can talk about it – but we’re about to shoot another ‘Partridge’ series. We’re going to film it in May for the BBC, which is Alan trying his hand at something else.”
Steve had previously admitted he has a “love hate relationship” with Alan.
Asked why he keeps coming back to the roll, he said: “Well, I suppose the simple explanation is that it makes me laugh … For me, it’s this strange, long journey, but it has been very good because I’ve had this sort of love-hate relationship with Alan. I’ve come to accept Alan in my life … The way I’m talking to you now, I’m being careful about how I’m phrasing things because it’s me talking. But as Alan, you can sort of let the dog off the leash.”

Peter Jackson turned down Aquaman twice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Peter Jackson turned down directing ‘Aquaman’ twice.
The ‘Lord of the Rings’ filmmaker revealed that former Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara offered him the chance to helm the DC Extended Universe film on two occasions, however, Jackson wasn’t keen on the idea as he’s “not a superhero guy” and the job was eventually given to James Wan.
Speaking to Empire magazine, Jackson said: “He said, ‘Are you a fan of Aquaman?’ I said, ‘No.’ Six months later, ‘Peter, are you a fan of Aquaman?’ I said, ‘No, Kevin, I already told you this.’
“I’m not a superhero guy. I read Tintin … Look, films are hard. I only want to make something that I have a deep passion for.”
The last project Jackson helmed was World War I documentary ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’, which was created using original footage from the Imperial War Museum’s archives alongside audio from BBC and IWM interviews of British servicemen who fought in the conflict. Colour was added to the footage and the audio was improved with modern production techniques.
The 57-year-old New Zealander thinks his immediate future will be in factual films.
He said: “I don’t really anticipate making another theatrical film for a year or two.”
Earlier this year, it was announced Jackson would be making a new documentary on The Beatles, using 55 hours of never-before-seen studio footage that was shot in early 1969 for the 1970 feature film ‘Let It Be’.
Although no release date has been set it is believed that the as-yet untitled film will come out in 2020 to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘Let It Be’ movie and album – which was the final studio release from the band before they split at the end of 1970.
Speaking about the project previously, Jackson said: “The 55 hours of never-before-seen footage and 140 hours of audio made available to us ensure this movie will be the ultimate ‘fly on the wall’ experience that Beatles fans have long dreamt about.
“It’s like a time machine transports us back to 1969, and we get to sit in the studio watching these four friends make great music together.”

Heath Ledger taught Julia Stiles to act drunk in 10 Things I Hate About You

OHMYGOSSIP — Heath Ledger taught Julia Stiles how to act drunk in ’10 Things I Hate About You’.
The 38-year-old actress – who played Kat Stratford in the 90s teen flick, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year – revealed that she had “never gotten drunk before” at the time of filming and the late actor, who portrayed her love interest, Patrick Verona, taught her “what that felt like”.
Speaking to website Digital Spy, she said: “I had never gotten drunk before and I had to play drunk in one of the scenes. I remember Heath Ledger talking me through what that felt like!
“I look back on it so fondly. It’s an honour to be part of a movie that people are still talking about 20 years later.”
The film – which is loosely based on William Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ – follows Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who strikes a deal with bad boy Patrick (Ledger) to date ‘shrewish’ Kat (Stiles) so that her father will allow Cameron to date Kat’s sister, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik).
The movie proved to be a breakthrough role for Stiles, Gordon-Levitt and Ledger – who tragically died in 2008, at the age of 28 – despite the film only receiving moderate box office success on original release in 1999.
The ‘Riviera’ star insisted that she was desperate for a role in the movie as it was the first time she’d read a script with “such a feisty teenage girl”.
She said: “I wanted that part so badly; because it was the first time I had read such a feisty teenage girl. I hadn’t seen a teenage girl like that on-screen.”

Disney developing Honey, I Shrunk The Kids reboot with Josh Gad

OHMYGOSSIP — Walt Disney Pictures is developing a reboot of ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’.
Josh Gad is attached to star in the new movie, titled ‘Shrunk’, which is being described as a “legacyequel” meaning it will contain elements of the original film’s plot whilst also existing in the same universe as the three films in the franchise and be a continuation of the overall story arc.
The original 1989 film followed Rick Moranis as Wayne Szalinski, an inventor who accidentally shrinks his and his next door neighbour’s kids to a quarter of an inch with his electromagnetic shrinking machine and accidentally throws them out with the trash.
The re-imagining will be set about three decades after the original, with Gad, 38, set to play the grown-up version of Wayne’s son Nick who will accidentally shrink his own children.
Last year, it was announced that streaming service Disney+ is developing remakes of several films, including ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’, however, this proposed project will have a theatrical release.
‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ was an unexpected box office hit, grossing $222 million worldwide and becoming Disney’s highest-grossing live-action film ever at the time, a record it held for five years.
The film spawned two sequels titled ‘Honey, I Blew Up the Kid’ and ‘Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves’ as well as a television show that ran from 1997 to 2000 and saw Peter Scolari take over the role of Wayne Szalinski.

June Brown struggles with EastEnders scripts

OHMYGOSSIP — June Brown finds it “difficult” to learn her ‘EastEnders’ lines.
The 92-year-old actress – who first appeared in Albert Square as Dot Cotton in 1985 – has admitted her poor eyesight means she struggles to read the script while her memory isn’t what it once was.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’, she explained: “It’s a bit difficult in a way. They do do my scripts in font… It means you don’t have the whole play, you only have your part and two lines.
“You see, I have a visual memory – or had – and I could read and it twice and I’d know it. So I have to learn everything now with my eyes, but it’s not so easy.”
She also shrugged off the idea of being a star, and insisted being a big name on a soap makes her a “household name” instead.
She added: “I’m not a star, darling. Gretchen [Franklin] said to me one day – she played Ethel [Skinner in ‘EastEnders’]. She said ‘June, we;re not stars, we’re household names like Daz and Persil.”
Meanwhile, the soap legend also opened up about her unlikely friendship with Lady Gaga after she met the ‘Poker Face’ singer when they both appeared on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ in 2013.
Although June recently admitted she had to turn down an offer of a night on the town with the AGE-year-old star, she has now revealed that the reason for the snub was filming commitments for ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’.
She said: “Oh she’s lovely, a very intelligent girl. I just met her on ‘The Graham Norton Show’. I was sitting in the green room waiting to go on, I’m always last. Once I got on, she was so nice to me. She was so respectful, it was incredible.
“She sort of knew me, it was lovely… She invited me [to go clubbing]. Unfortunately I was doing ‘Piers Morgan’ the next day.
“I had to be in early in the morning and you’re in all day long, then you do it at night. And I thought I can’t go clubbing if I’ve got to be alert the next day.”

Danny Baker to face no police action over royal baby tweet

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Baker will face no further police action over his royal baby tweet.
The 61-year-old broadcaster was fired by the BBC earlier this month after sharing a photo of a couple holding hands with a chimpanzee wearing clothes with the caption “Royal Baby leaves hospital”, and many users accused the former Radio 5 Live presenter of mocking Duchess Meghan’s heritage.
On Thursday (09.05.19), the Metropolitan Police announced they were assessing the incident after receiving an allegation about the social media post and now a Met spokeswoman has said: “Having reviewed the comments made, we do not consider that a criminal threshold has been met and as such we will be taking no further action.”
Danny has denied any allegations of racism and said he was trying to make a joke about class.
He previously said: “I didn’t know which of our royal princesses had given birth. Otherwise you’d got to be thinking I’d been secretly waiting to make this grotesque joke. There’s no truth to it. I’ve been doing a thing on the radio for years of famous people dressed as monkeys with fairground music. My go-to photo when any posh people have a baby is this absurd chimpanzee in a top hat leaving the hospital. Had it not been Meghan – perfectly good joke. I was trying to make a point about class and it’s just preposterous.”
A BBC spokesperson said the post was “a serious error of judgement” and confirmed that the corporation had taken the decision to axe him from his weekly show.
The spokesperson added: “[It] goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us.”

Freddie Starr to be buried alongside his mother

OHMYGOSSIP — Freddie Starr will be buried with his mother.
The comedian – who passed away alone in Costa del Sol, Spain at the age of 76 last week – is set to be laid to rest with his mum in Liverpool.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Freddie adored his mum. She was the driving force behind his career by encouraging him to do gigs in pubs and clubs. Though estranged from his children and former wives, they felt it was only right he was reunited with his mum.”
Freddie passed away on Thursday (09.05.19) after suffering from a heart attack, according to the post-mortem which was carried out at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
A police insider said: “Freddie Starr died from a heart attack. There is absolutely no doubt. He had a history of heart problems and the autopsy has revealed a heart attack was the cause of his death.”
Freddie had previously suffered from coronary artery disease and had a quadruple bypass following a heart attack in 2010.
Meanwhile, his carer Nelly – who is believed to have found the comedian’s body – said he had been “fine” when she left him to go to the supermarket, but had passed away in the 30 minutes she was away.
She said: “I went to the supermarket for maybe 30 minutes and came back he was dead. He was fine before. He had many problems but I never knew he was bad. He was watching TV, he never said he wasn’t OK or he wasn’t feeling well. He was playing with his cat, nothing was bothering him.”

Fiona Bruce: I was too tired to work for a whole year

OHMYGOSSIP — Fiona Bruce was physically ill for a whole year after she took on too much work.
The ‘Question Time’ host presents BBC News, ‘Antiques Roadshow’ and ‘Fake Or Fortune’, and has opened up about her past struggle with balancing work and home life, and how she became “physically ill” because she took on a “never-ending list of things to do”.
She told The Sunday Post: “I have had years when I’ve tried to cram more things in. I had one year, five or six years ago, where I just became ill. Physically, I just couldn’t do it all. I wasn’t seriously ill but it was a bit of a wake-up call. I remember thinking that I just felt too tired so I became more judicious about what I chose to do and not do.
“Part of it is work, but there are a number of charities I’m closely associated with. I get asked by several other charities a week and there is a never-ending list of things you could do.”
And the 55-year-old presenter explained that she “over-stretched” herself and is now trying to maintain a healthy work and home life balance.
She added: “I feel that someone in my position should do as much of that as they can. I think I’ve slightly over-stretched myself on that front along with my BBC work, so I’m trying to be more sensible on both fronts about managing my time.”
Fiona has presented BBC One’s ‘Antiques Roadshow’ for 12 years, and the star admitted that she could never let go of the long-running Sunday series – which is regularly watched by up to six million viewers – because it’s “fascinating” and a “great contrast” to the rest of her work.
She continued: “I absolutely love doing it. It couldn’t be in greater contrast to the rest of my work and that’s a huge part of its appeal for me. I end up going to places I would choose to go and visit by myself, so the fact I get to do that as part of my job is a great privilege.
“But the thing I enjoy most about the day is the people. Up to 4,000 people will come and everyone has a story and wants to talk about the object they’ve brought. It’s endlessly fascinating and every week is surprising. There aren’t many jobs you can say that about when you’re into your 12th year. Every time I show up, it’s the joy of the unexpected.”

Jessica Wright suffered post-traumatic stress after car crash

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Wright suffered with post-traumatic stress after she was involved in a high-speed car crash.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star believes her anxiety disorder was triggered 13 years ago after she experienced a near-death situation when she was thrown across a motorway at 70mph.
Speaking as part of Heat magazine’s Where’s your head at? campaign, the 33-year-old beauty said: “My car flew across three lanes of motorway. I was going at 70mph. The tyre burst and all the traffic was coming towards me. So at that moment I shouted out ‘I don’t want to die’ because I thought that’s it. I personally think that might have triggered it, but at the same time I think that mental health [problems] can also be caused when your serotonin isn’t full.
“You might need something to up the serotonin levels in your brain. So I don’t know if it’s a combination or if it’s something that was triggered from the post-traumatic stress.
“It was about six months after my car crash I had a panic attack. I didn’t know what was happening to me and I was working at the time and the ambulance were called, and they came in and said, ‘you’re suffering a really bad panic attack.’
“And from then on I kind of had them every now and again and they were horrific. They scared me so much, because you can’t breathe. It was only when I was about four or five years in to them that I told myself, ‘you’re not going to die from a panic attack, and you just have to ride it out.’ ”
The ‘Celebrity Dinner Date’ star thinks her battle with worrying thoughts really kicked in when she was “about 26” but she was too scared to tell her family – including her brother Mark Wright – what she was dealing with inside her head because she didn’t think they’d “understand” her.
She explained: “Anxiety hit when I was about 26, I didn’t know what was happening to me but I had these horrible thoughts. I felt like the world was detached from me, I felt like my family didn’t understand me and I couldn’t say how I felt, it was all just trapped inside.”

Louis Walsh wants Adrian Dunbar to do X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Walsh wants Line of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar to take part in ‘X Factor: All Stars’.
The talent manager says the 60-year-old actor – who plays Ted Hastings in the BBC drama – would be his “number one pick” for the forthcoming celebrity version of the singing show after he impressed fans with his pitch-perfect rendition of ‘What A Wonderful World’ on Irish television last month.
Speaking to the Mirror Online, the 66-year-old former judge – who was axed from the programme’s panel last year – said: “Adrian Dunbar has a great voice. The rugby player Ben Cohen can sing as well and then Megan McKenna can sing country.”
‘X Factor’ boss Simon Cowell has decided to do an all-star version of the talent show in a bid to boost viewing figures and Louis thinks it’s a great idea.
He said: “I absolutely think it is the way to go and if they get the right celebs it’ll be brilliant.”
And the star-studded version won’t just benefit viewers as the 59-year-old music mogul is expected to hand the champion a lucrative deal with his record label Syco as well as giving the triumphant contestant a chance to bag the Christmas number one single.
An insider said recently: “Simon knows that getting the right stars to enter is the key to its success. So to make that more appealing he’s decided to put a proper record deal with Syco on the table for the winner – with serious money behind it. It’s a proper competition and they want people who can really sing but who are big personalities too.”
The judge is said to have set aside £3 million to attract famous faces for the show, and is reportedly keen to sign up his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ co-star Amanda Holden.
Gemma Collins – who shot to fame on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – is currently in high demand and also thought to be wanted for the show.

Danny Baker investigated by police over royal baby tweet

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Baker is being investigated by police over his royal baby tweet.
The 61-year-old broadcaster was sacked by the BBC after he shared a photo of a couple holding hands with a chimpanzee wearing clothes with the caption “Royal Baby leaves hospital”, after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their son Archie this week.
And after Danny was accused of mocking Duchess Meghan’s African-American heritage, the Metropolitan Police Service confirmed it has opened an investigation after a complaint of racism was made.
A spokesperson told the Daily Mail: “An allegation has been received by the Metropolitan Police Service on Thursday May 9 in relation to a tweet published on May 8. As is routine, the allegation will be reviewed and assessed by specialist officers.”
Danny has denied any allegations of racism and said he was trying to make a joke about class.

Ryan Reynolds’ daughter convinced him to star in Detective Pikachu

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds’ daughter convinced him to star in the upcoming movie ‘Detective Pikachu’.
The 42-year-old actor voices the beloved Pokémon character in the new movie and the film’s director Robert Letterman revealed it was his two-year-old daughter Inez who wanted him to take on the role.
Robert told Collider: “We were all in on Ryan. So, what happened was, I did these tests. I took an old clip of Ryan from a different movie and we animated Pikachu to it.
“And the second I saw that test it was done. It was perfect. We hadn’t even reached out to him. There would be no other version in my mind.
“And when he finally said “yes” it was a massive sigh of relief!
“And then I found out, he finally confessed, he showed that clip to his daughter and she was the one who talked him into it.
“So thank you to Ryan’s daughter!”
Ryan – who also has four-year-old James with wife Blake Lively – stars alongside Suki Waterhouse, Ken Watanabe, Kathryn Newton and Rita Ora in the Pokémon action adventure.
And Robert is delighted that the franchise – which came out in 1996 and is a collective brand for games, toys, films and shows that involve catching imaginary creatures – is popular amongst both new and old fans.
He said: “First of all, we dedicated the movie to the fans. There’s the new generation of fans and there’s also the older generation.
“And I was surprised myself how much millennials adore this franchise. The 20 somethings or 30 somethings they grew up with it, they love it.
“It’s a love letter to fans of Pokémon but also it’s also a human story and amazing journey and its funny and Ryan is hilarious and Kathryn is incredible.
“And the emotional ride of it and the heart of it I think is appealing to everyone whether they know Pokémon or not.”

Chris Pine to star in Violence of Action

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Pine is set to star in ‘Violence of Action’.
The 38-year-old actor has signed up for the independent black ops action-thriller, which will be directed by Tarik Saleh from a J.P. Davis script.
Chris will star as a man who joins a paramilitary group to support his family after he is involuntarily discharged from the Marines, according to Deadline.
After travelling to Poland on a black ops mission with his team, he finds himself alone and on the run in Eastern Europe after being betrayed.
The movie will follow his mission to get home and investigate those who betrayed him.
Meanwhile, Chris will appear in the ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel next year, even though his character, American fighter pilot Steve Trevor, seemingly gave his life by flying a bomb away from its intended target in the original movie.
According to the film’s director Patty Jenkins, she knew Steve would feature in the follow-up whilst she was “in the middle of making the first movie” and everything will be explained properly when the final cut of the film hits cinemas.
Patty said: “I thought of what this next movie should be in the middle of making the first movie, so it wasn’t a solution to, ‘Oh god, that was worked out, let’s try to jam you in there.’ It’s all incredibly important to the story. It makes perfect sense, that’s all I can say.”
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ will see Gal Gadot reprise her role as the titular Amazonian superhero Diana Prince.
The DC Extended Universe movie was originally slated for release in November 2019, but it has now been delayed until June 5, 2020.
