OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ won’t pay tribute to Mike Thalassitis on air.
The former contestant on the ITV2 reality show passed away at the age of 26 in March this year, but viewers won’t be able to see a tribute made to him at the start of the show’s upcoming series, which begins next month.
Bosses have instead decided to honour Mike in a tribute on ITV’s on-demand service instead, which will play alongside the 2017 series in which Mike starred, which will soon be available as a boxset on the ITV hub.
A ‘Love Island’ insider told The Sun: “It felt more appropriate to do it there”.
The news comes after it was claimed contestants will have to pass new mental health and STI tests to be accepted on this year’s series, following the death of Mike and fellow star Sophie Gradon, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 32.
A source said: “Bosses want stars to be safe mentally and physically. Their biggest nightmare would be someone contracting an STI, so potential contestants must have several rounds of medical tests.
“Advance sessions with counsellors and psychologists have been ramped up to ensure that everyone can handle the fame.
“They are prepared to cut potentially strong personalities from the line-up if there is any hint of mental instability.”
In March, Richard Cowles, creative director of ITV Studios, admitted contestants on the ITV2 dating show will receive more support and ITV will be “proactively checking in” with former ‘Love Island’ stars “on a regular basis”.
And whilst the announcement was made days after Mike’s death, ITV’s chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall later insisted it would be “extremely tenuous” to link the show to his passing.
She said: “I don’t think anybody has made a direct link between what happened to Mike and ‘Love Island’ and that is very important to say.
“It would be an extremely tenuous thing to do given he was very happy on ‘Love Island’ and all of his mates have actually said that, and he has done two other reality TV shows in the two-year gap.
“We can do everything we possibly can to look after people and to do our duty of care but you can’t do that forever with an individual.
“There has got to be a framework and it will come to an end. It can’t be indefinite.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Huw Edwards hasn’t been asked to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 57-year-old newsreader – who was sat in the audience as a guest on the BBC One ballroom and Latin show last year – has clarified his comments earlier this year that suggested he was officially asked to sign up, and admitted “just the thought” of hitting the dancefloor in front of the nation makes him “terrified”.
The broadcaster also admitted that he would struggle to fit in rehearsals with his day job.
Speaking to press backstage at the 2019 BAFTA TV Awards at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank on Sunday (12.05.19) – where his live coverage of the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance was honoured in the Live Event category – Huw said: I’ve not been asked to do it [Strictly].
“I’d have a conversation about it, but it’s quite a difficult thing to do with my day to day job. That’s the strongest hint I’ll give you.
“Combining that with BBC’s chief news anchor would be quite difficult.”
However, that doesn’t mean he’s ruled out the gig in the future, though he admitted his kids would be less than impressed if he did take part.
He added: “I mean in future, when my professional life may be in a different shape, maybe it’ll look like a different kind of challenge.
“Am I terrified by the thought of it? Yes. Do my kids want me to do it? No. So all of these things are factors but the honest answer is, I’ve not been asked and if I were I’d find it quite difficult with the current job I’m doing. And that’s being more open than I should have been.”
Huw – who was labelled a “silver fox” after shedding three stone last summer – had hinted he’d been asked when he said he wanted to “gauge public opinion” before he agrees to anything.
He said: “Following my stellar appearance reading out the terms and conditions in early December, where I basically set the British television world alight, I was asked if I’d consider Strictly.
“And I think the answer is, Steve, I’ve come here today for some advice. Despite all appearances, I am quite shy.”
He also admitted to being intimated by the glitzy costumes.
He added: “That’s what scares me.”
“I think I’ve just got to ponder it  . . .  just gauge public opinion.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Tamaddon is engaged.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star has shared the happy news that she is engaged to her partner Adrian, just weeks after they announced they are expecting their first child together.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “HE PROPOSED ………….. I said YES!!!! … This year is turning out to be quite wonderful. (sic)”
Hayley – who also starred in ‘Emmerdale’ and won the 2010 series of ‘Dancing In Ice’ – announced the news she is expecting her first child last month.
The 42-year-old actress admitted they “couldn’t be happier”, writing: “EXCITING NEWS TWEET!! … I’m so pleased to tell you all … I’m expecting my first child with my wonderful boyfriend Adrian!! … I’ve always wanted to be a mum and didn’t think I could have children. And now, at the ripe old age of 42 – I’M PREGNANT! … We couldn’t be happier. (sic)”
Before meeting Adrian, the ‘Shameless’ star dated Marcus Brigstocke from 2010 until 2014.
At the time, the actress admitted she was too busy to have children and is “scared” of nappies.
She said: “My body feels 37 but I still feel 21. I sometimes forget that I’m going to be 40. It would be lovely to have kids in the future but for now my main ­concentration is my work. I’m not scared of nappies or screaming babies but I’m just not at that point. Not many of my friends have settled down either. I’m a workaholic. It’s always work, work, work, I can’t switch it off.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Rami Malek is in talks to join Denzel Washington in ‘Little Things’.
The 38-year-old actor is reportedly in negotiations to join the 64-year-old Hollywood legend in the forthcoming flick, which is being written by John Lee Hancock.
The plot sees overburdened Kern County Deputy Sheriff Deke (Washington) join forces with LA County Sheriff’s Department detective, Baxter (Malek, assuming he makes a deal) to get a serial killer behind bars and the movie has the title because Washington’s alter ego is into digging out the “little things” in his cases.
The movie will start shooting in autumn when Rami has wrapped production on ‘Bond 25’ – which is being directed by Cary Fukunaga and will be Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as 007- which is currently filming.
Shooting is underway in Jamaica but producer Barbara Broccoli is yet to make a decision on the movie’s name.
Bond’s new adventure begins on the Caribbean island and the movie will feature scenes shot on the famous beach used in 1963’s ‘Dr No’ and 1973’s ‘Live and Let Die’.
The action blockbuster will also be shot at Pinewood Studios in the UK and on location in London, Italy and Norway as well as Jamaica.
Returning cast members include Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Lea Seydoux and Ben Whishaw, while Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch and Billy Magnussen are all newcomers to the franchise.
‘Bond 25’ will be released in the UK and internationally on April 3, 2020 and in the US on April 8.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp is fronting new ITV documentary ‘Hatton Garden: The Inside Story’.
The actor-turned-journalist and his team have investigated the 2015 heist which saw £14 million worth of expensive items stolen from the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company, an underground safe deposit facility located in London’s jewellery quarter, by a gang of elderly villains – who had a combined age of 448 – after they drilled a hole into the wall of a vault undetected.
For the show about Britain’s biggest burglary, Ross spoke to key police officers and secured the first ever television interview with Kenny Collins – the gang’s lookout.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star also incorporates unseen police surveillance footage and the gang’s secretly recorded conversations in the doc to provide viewers with the most detailed account of the burglary and one of the Flying Squad’s longest and most challenging operations, which culminated in the conviction of the final gang member in March 2019.
The documentary will air on ITV on Friday May 24 at 9pm and comes the day after new four-part drama ‘Hatton Garden’ ends.
Episode one of ‘Hatton Garden’ airs on Monday May 20 and boasts a stellar cast that includes Timothy Spall, Geoff Bell and Alex Norton among others.
‘Hatton Garden: The Inside Story’ is not the only documentary Ross will appear in for ITV this year.
The ‘Ross Kemp On Gangs’ star has been granted “unique access” to Belmarsh prison in South East London for an upcoming programme that will focus on how the inmates are offered the chance to rehabilitate themselves through a variety of educational initiatives designed to help them set up their own businesses when they are released.
Ross, 54, will get the chance to speak with inmates – which include murderers, rapists and terrorists – as well as staff working at the category A facility.

OHMYGOSSIP — Roxanne Pallett was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder when she accused Ryan Thomas of punching her on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress has confessed she “lashed out” and described the ‘Coronation Street’ star as “collateral damage”, when she accused him of punching her in a playfight on the Channel 5 show.
Speaking at a mental health event – her first job since she left ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ – she said: “Last year I unravelled, I broke down. I lashed out. And only now since being diagnosed with PTSD and Panic Disorder do I see that it was a result of years of untreated and ignored mental health issues that were lingering and building up and waiting to bubble over like an unwatched pot on a stove. I fell apart over a matter of weeks and I did so in front of millions on not just one occasion but three TV shows. All in which were edited and shown as entertainment. I was the punchline to the very unfortunate joke.
“I was then ridiculed, judge and villainised, but only some actually recognised the reason behind my reactions – PTSD. It was pouring out of me. I’ve since been inundated with letters from people including soldiers, nurses and counsellors that watched and see that my mental health was crumbling but unfortunately many mistake this symptoms for character traits and they condemn you. Tears, mood swings, erratic behaviour, accusations, doubts, despair. Such awful traits, especially for those around me at the time, those who were inflicted and became collateral damage as a result of just being next to me when I self-destructed.”
And the 36-year-old actress criticised those who leaped to Ryan’s defence and slammed her friends for not speaking out in support of her.
She added: “Last year the most difficult part wasn’t the avalanche of hate or the opportunists who jumped on the bandwagon, it wasn’t even the ignorant names I was called, weird, toxic, dangerous, dramatic, evil, mental, crazy, attention seeker. It was the silence of those I considered friends that hurt the most.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Mulhern is offering a reward for the safe return of his wallet.
The ‘In For A Penny’ star lost his wallet whilst out in Southampton and is now appealing for its return, and is offering four tickets to any of his shows as a reward.
He wrote on Twitter: “So without fail my lost wallet is somewhere in Southampton … whoever does find it I will give four tickets to a TV show of their choice that I am involved in! It must have everything in it though, that’s all I ask.”
Fans rushed to social media to offer help in finding the wallet whilst others lamented about the chance of Stephen finding his cards and cash.
Meanwhile, Stephen recently launched his new show ‘In For A Penny’, and confessed that he laughed more filming it than any other series he has done.
He said: “I have absolutely loved filming this show. I don’t think I have ever laughed so much filming a series and it was all down to the Great British public, they are the real stars. I’ve been privileged to meet some of the most amazing people up and down the country and now the viewers will get to see just how funny and entertaining they are.”
Ant and Dec, who co-created the format, said on Stephen landing his spin-off: “It was always a highlight for us to watch this segment on ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ and we are delighted it’s now become a series. Stephen is the perfect host, his warmth, wit and all-round humour mixed with the great British public, who are not only brilliant but are also unfazed when a man in a sparkly jacket appears and asks them to take part in ridiculous games. It makes for some fantastically funny TV.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Halliwell was upset when Jane Cox decided to leave ‘Emmerdale’.
The 73-year-old actor – who has played Zak Dingle on the ITV soap since 1994 – admitted it has been tough getting ready to say goodbye to his on screen partner Lisa after so long.
He told Inside Soap: “Well, I was sad – but I know Jane very well, and I knew there were other things that she needed to do, other than do what we’ve done together for 20-odd years.
“So yes I was sad initially, although as she’s my friend in real life, I knew it might be on the way. So it came gently, rather than as a sudden shock.”
While the lead-up to Lisa’s death – following her amyloidosis diagnosis – has been heartbreaking for viewers, there will be a more positive but still emotional moment when she marries Zak for a second time.
Asked if he’s pleased the couple are going to exchange their vows again, Steve said: “I am. I was disappointed when Zak had the affair with Joanie [Wright], although it made a good story.
“There was something about Zak and Lisa that I felt should remain solid. But that’s not for me to decide, so you do the story and the scenes as best you can.
“For me, Zak and Lisa getting remarried has been a long time coming.”
And the soap star revealed there will be some “fun Times” for the Dingle family before Lisa’s tragic death.
He added: “There are fun times together before the tragedy happens. It’s not all doom and gloom from day one.
“The Dingle family has found out that Lisa’s ill and she’s going to die, but you can’t just stop living.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Worth could hit five decades on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 68-year-old actress will mark 45 years as Gail Rodwell this summer, and the Weatherfield legend insisted she has no plans to call time on her cobbles career just yet.
She’s quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “In July I will have been on The Street 45 years.
“We are moving along. Am I staying for 50 years? I have no idea. We will see, but I am hanging on in there.”
The soap star also took the opportunity to dismiss speculation the ITV show is in crisis after the likes of Tristan Gemmill (Robert Preston), Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) and Faye Brookes (Kate Connor) announced they are to leave.
However, Helen insisted: “Rumours of a crisis are absolute nonsense. This happens all the time, it’s the natural way of ‘Coronation Street’. I’ve seen a few come and go.”
The ‘Corrie’ mainstay added that she doesn’t have any hard feelings for younger stars leaving the cobbles to try new things.
Lucy Fallon will be leaving her role as Bethany Platt in 2020, and while Helen would “love” to see her co-star return one day, she hopes she doesn’t “need to”.
She explained: “I’d love her to come back but in actual fact I would rather she was working so much she didn’t need to come back.”
Helen’s comments come after fellow soap star Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) also shrugged off claims of a crisis and made it clear she wants to stay after 33 years on the show.
She recently said: “I am so happy. Everyone says about all of this, but it’s so not true. Everyone is really happy. I don’t know where this story has come from. I am nailing my feet to the floor, I’m staying, if that’s OK?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Pegg is set to star in new action thriller ‘Becky’.
The 49-year-old actor will reportedly play the central villain of the movie – from Yale Productions and BoulderLight Pictures -opposite ‘Annabelle: Creation’ star Lulu Wilson.
The film will be helmed by Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion and is due to start filming in a few months.
The story centres on a rebellious 13-year-old (Wilson) who accompanies her father to a lake house for a weekend getaway in an effort to reconnect after her mother’s death.
However, the trip takes a dangerous turn when a group of convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick (Pegg), invade the lake house leading Becky to take matters into her own hands.
Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman are producing with Raphael Margules and J.D.
Pegg is best known for his roles in Edgar Wright’s ‘Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy’ – comprised of the three British comedy films, ‘Shaun of the Dead’, ‘Hot Fuzz’ and ‘The World’s End’ – all of which starred Simon and Nick Frost and were directed by Edgar who co-wrote the movies with Simon.
The ‘Mission Impossible: Fallout’ star was last seen in 2019 independent drama film ‘Lost Transmissions’ written and directed by Katharine O’Brien
The film followed Hannah (Juno Temple), a shy songwriter who discovers that her friend, respected record producer Theo Ross (Pegg), has lapsed on his schizophrenia medication.
Hannah rallies a group of friends to help commit Theo to a psychiatric hospital.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Cox thinks Lisa Dingle’s death is the best way to handle the character’s exit.
The 66-year-old actress is leaving ‘Emmerdale’ after 23 years, and with her alter ego has been diagnosed with amyloidosis – which has left Lisa with a weakened heart – it means the door won’t be left open for a return as her time on the soap comes to an end.
She told RadioTimes.com: “I think it’s better as it tells a complete story, and there are a lot of people out there dealing with terminal illness.
“When Lisa’s diagnosis was revealed in the International Women’s Day episode we had a good response from those pleased we were raising the issue.
“Lisa could go off to Spain or something but this way it gives a truthful end to her story. I will wave Lisa a happy goodbye.”
Despite feeling like her character is leaving with a well-rounded end to her story, Jane admitted it was a tough decision to walk away from the Dales – but she’s looking forward to the future.
She added: “I just need to take stock and think about life in a different phase. I’m 66 now. I don’t feel it, but there’s a lot of other things I want to explore.
“I want different adventures. I’m not ambitious, so with acting I’m so happy to have done everything I’ve done to date. I’ve been in the business for 48 years.
“It’d be nice to have time to think about things, maybe some writing or painting, or acting in other things. The world is out there to be explored and I’m very happy to be living a simpler life and have time for friends.”
Before Lisa passes away on screen, she will marry longterm partner Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) for the second time on May 23.
Jane said: “It happens quite quickly, Zak proposes out of the blue and the whole family is happy about it, yes. It’s really cheery. All the Dingles want to make it a good time for them.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer and Jack P. Shepherd are on the longlist for this year’s TV Choice Awards.
The annual ceremony will take place on September 9 at The Hilton on Park Lane, London with ‘Pointless’ star Richard Osman returning as host, and with the first round of voting open big names from the likes of ‘EastEnders’, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Emmerdale’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ will battle for the top prizes.
Albert Square actor Danny’s performances as Mick Carter have placed him on the ballot for best soap actor, with co-stars Ricky Champ (Stuart Highway) and Zack Morris (Keegan Baker) also representing.
For ‘Corrie’, Jack is joined by Mikey North (Gary Windass) and Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne), while ‘Emmerdale’ has its chance with Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden), Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) and Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe).
The longlist for the prize is rounded off by ‘Hollyoaks’ trio Aedan Duckworth (Oliver Morgan), Hollyoaks Channel 4 Gregory Finnegan (James Nightingale) and Adam Woodward (Brody Hudson).
The best actress voting is similarly stacked, with ‘Corrie’ stars Dolly-Rose Campbell (Gemma Winter), Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker) and Alison King (Carla Connor) in with a shot opposite ‘Emmerdale’ trio Louisa Clein (Maya Stepney), Isabel Hodgins (Victoria Barton) and Roxy Shahidi (Leyla Harding).

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Tracini talks about his mental health struggles to make his heartbreaking past “worth something”.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actor – who has Emotional Unstable Personality Disorder (also known as BPD) – has been open in the past about his previous substance abuse and battle with mental health, and he broke down in tears as he spoke candidly about why he has decided to speak up.
In a video uploaded to Twitter, Joe said: “I’m doing this because I can’t go back and tell my family that I’m going to be alright. I can’t tell them that.
“I can’t go back and tell me that I’m gonna be alright. And even if I could, I’d have to tell him the worst things he’s ever going to do – he hasn’t done yet.
“The drinks, the drugs were a symptom of a bigger problem, and if I’d found the bigger problem quicker I would’ve hurt less people. So I’m doing it to try and make that worth something.”
The 30-year-old actor – known for playing Dennis Savage on the Channel 4 soap – opened up about living with BPD, and compared it to bipolar, “where it does most of the same stuff, just some of it’s a bit s**tter”.
Joe has been to rehab three times but is now “almost seven years clean” and has been sober for four years, and he was “blunt” about how it feels supporting someone through such difficult times.
He added: “You’ll know that there comes a point where you have exhausted everything you can think of to try and help them, and it gets to the point where you just have to be there for them and hope that they ask for help before they die. It’s kind of that blunt.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer says he is a “spiritual man”.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor has opened up about his relationship with his wife Jo Mas – whom he started dating in 1992 and later married in 2016 – and admitted despite going through difficult periods in their romance, he has learned to work hard to make sure his anxiety doesn’t take over.
He told Closer magazine: “I’m a spiritual man, so whenever you say something you need to ask yourself – is it truthful, is it kind and is it necessary?
“If it passes through those three gates – then say it. Anxiety is hard, and what your brain does to you. You’ve got to take control of it.”
The 41-year-old soap star – whose shares daughters Dani, 23, and Sunnie, 12, and five-year-old son Arty with Jo – admitted he always wanted to shield his children from the difficulties of life in the spotlight.
He explained: “Fame is quite an intoxicating thing. It’s alright at first but then it does drive you insane. I tried to keep my children away from it as much as possible.”
While his eldest daughter has become a star in her own right after appearing on ‘Love Island’, Danny admitted he and Jo are now having to help her through her breakup from Jack Fincham.
He added: “It’s difficult being a parent because no one’s going to be good enough for them – ever.
“I worship the ground my children walk on, but of course they’ve got to find their way. You can’t pick boys for your daughters – it doesn’t work like that.
“Jo and I had a child very young and you learn every single day how to be a good parent, but it actually turned out we didn’t do a bad job.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tanya Bardsley’s husband Phil has been “Googling” where to get a vasectomy procedure done.
The 38-year-old former glamour model – who is married to Stoke City footballer Phil Bardsley – has children Gabriella, 17, Rocco, ten, Renz, four and two-year-old Ralphi, and the ITVBe star has revealed that she would love to have another tot but her soccer ace spouse is also “pretty serious” about getting the snip.
She told New! magazine: “I didn’t [want to have more children], but when I held my little niece last night I was like, ‘Oh my god, I want one!’ Phil sent me what he’d been googling and it was ‘the snip in Cheshire’.
“My Rocco is signed to Stoke City FC now and he’s amazing at football. I think we’re going to have a really busy life with the boy’s travelling, so I don’t think it would be fair to have another baby. I don’t think we’d be able to give them the attention that the other’s had. [Phil] seemed pretty serious to me [about getting a vasectomy].”
And the ‘Real Housewives of Cheshire’ star admitted that she has a “tight network of family and friends”, but always makes sure to schedule “downtime” time for her beau.
She added: “My mum lives with me Monday to Friday. It’s just a really tight support network of family and friends.
“Every night [Phil and I] have one kid asleep between us and we watch ‘Game Of Thrones’. That’s our downtime.”
Tanya also insisted that the secret to a happy marriage is “respecting” your partner.
She continued: “I think it’s respect and don’t do anything to the other person you wouldn’t want done to you.Sometimes they do get on your nerves and you just want to go ‘F**k off!’ But you’ve got to have respect for each other.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Redknapp wants a role in ‘Bodyguard’.
The former football star turned sports pundit has “often fancied” turning his hand to acting and quipped he’d be better than the show’s leading star Richard Madden, who plays Principal Protection Officer Sergeant David Budd.
Jamie told the Daily Star newspaper: “Audition for the next series of the Bodyguard? Why not? I’d be better than the other fella anyway. I’ve actually often fancied a bit of acting.”
Meanwhile, Richard previously admitted he almost quit acting after making ‘Bodyguard’ and he needed to take some time out to remember why he was passionate about his career.
He said: “It really took it out of me. I didn’t get to see my friends, my family, do anything. It’s a relentless job, it’s an unhappy place. At the end of filming I had just gone, ‘What am I doing this for? I’m supposed to be doing the thing I love.’ I had to take a break for a couple of months and get myself back. And after I did get myself back a bit in my head, then you’re like, ‘OK.'”
‘Bodyguard’ – which also starred Keeley Hawes – was initially planned to be a one-off drama, but following its huge success, a second season was commissioned and Richard recently teased that producers are planning to “create something different” although his “fascinating” character will still be “part of the story”.
He said: “We hadn’t intended to make a second one but the character is so fascinating. We want to create something different and do justice to season one. I will be part of the story. I want it to be as exciting as season one and to show something new.”
