OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Childs has branded the ‘Only Way is Essex’ too “scripted” and claims the current cast are just looking for fame.
The 28-year-old star was one of the original faces on the reality show when it first hit screens in 2010 but she thinks it has now changed beyond recognition
because the cast are more aware of the opportunities it can bring.
She said: “I was on the show from day one, I feel that, me being honest, it’s totally changed. I feel like a lot of it is scripted now.
“People know what they’re getting themselves into. They’ve got managements before they go on the show.
“We were all planning to go back to work. But look, people still love it.”
And Amy dismissed comparisons between herself and current cast member Chloe Brockett, insisting there can never be anyone like the “original” stars.
She told The Sun newspaper: “No, definitely not. There can only be one Amy. That’s all I can say.
“It’s amazing they compare me to her. If I met her I’d talk to her. I just think the original cast, no one can ever be like us. They’ve got their own personalities.”
But despite her comments and the fact she rarely watches the show these days, the mother-of-two still feels like she is “a part” of ‘TOWIE’.
Asked if she still tunes in, she said: “I don’t. I always have it on catch up. I think I’ve got like a hundred recordings now of ‘TOWIE’.
“What with me having the kids and everything, I’m literally, no joke, I’m in bed by nine o’clock.
“When you’ve got the kids all day and like working, I’m in bed at half nine.
“I’m still on my Instagram, see all the goss, I live in Brentwood, I always go down the high street, see some of the people. I still feel a part of the show even though I’m not in it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Pattinson is said to be in talks to play Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming superhero film.
The 33-year-old star is said to be the frontrunner for the role in forthcoming film ‘The Batman’, but he has not yet closed on a deal to portray the legendary character, sources told Variety.
Pre-production on the Warner Bros. and DC Comics collaboration is expected to kick off this summer ahead of a June 25th 2021 release.
Insiders also told the publication the start date could be either late 2019 or early 2020.
This comes just a few months after reports Armie Hammer was in “final talks” to take on the superhero role, with Pattinson said to be in line to portray one of the villains.
Reeves took over ‘The Batman’ directing duties from Ben Affleck – who also stepped down from the role as the titular character in January – and he will produce the motion picture with Dylan Clark.
Affleck took to Twitter in January to confirm he was departing the role.
He tweeted: “Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life. (sic)”
Should Pattinson land the coveted role he will be one of a number of huge stars to take on the iconic part.
Michael Keaton played the titular character in 1989’s ‘Batman’ – which was directed by Tim Burton – and Val Kilmer and George Clooney have also taken on the role, in ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman & Robin’ respectively.
What’s more, Christian Bale played the character in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy, ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Renee Zellweger “tried” to meet Liza Minnelli before she started filming ‘Judy’.
The 50-year-old actress portrays late entertainer Judy Garland in the upcoming biopic and did her best to reach out to the ‘Wizard of Oz’ star’s family ahead of filming but had no success.
She said of Liza: “We have a really close mutual friend. One of my best friends, actually. And I had spoken with him about trying to find her. But, I guess I wasn’t successful in that.”
If she had been able to connect with Liza’s family, the ‘Jerry Maguire’ actress wanted to find out what they wanted to see in the movie.
She told USA Today newspaper: “My intention was to share with (Garland’s children) how I perceived the project and what I was hoping from it, and to ask what they might hope from it.”
And Renee insisted she had no intention of asking personal questions about Judy – who died from an accidental overdose aged 47 – because she respects their right to privacy.
She explained: “I feel like anything that she or that they would want to share about their mom and the world, they have shared. And anything that they’ve chosen to keep private is treasure, and I would never in my life imagine to impose in that way.”
While the Oscar-winning star regarded the movie as a “love affair” and a “research project” she was passionate about, it was perhaps no surprise Liza rejected her efforts to meet as she has previously slammed the biopic.
She wrote last year: “I have never met nor spoken to Renee Zellweger. I do not approve nor sanction the upcoming film about Judy Garland in any way.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Owen Warner nearly burst into tears when Stephanie Davis jokingly told him she hadn’t been shortlisted for the British Soap Awards.
The 26-year-old actress is up for Best Actress at the upcoming awards show for her role as Sinead Shelby in the Channel 4 soap, and she couldn’t resist making a little joke to her boyfriend and co-star Owen, who plays Romeo Quinn.
She said: “Owen was the first person I told.
“I told him I didn’t get shortlisted, and he looked like he was going to cry for me.
“He was so gutted, so I told him I was joking.
“He was made up, it was like he got shortlisted, too.”
After ‘Hollyoaks’ exec producer Bryan Kirkwood had told her about the nomination, Steph headed to the toilet and “screamed the place down” in celebration.
She added: “I couldn’t believe it. Bryan Kirkwood called me, and I was in work at the time.
“I went in the toilet and screamed the place down.
“I was made up, I couldn’t believe it.
“It took a few days for it to sink in.”
While Steph couldn’t resist a little quip about her nominations success, she thought it was “a joke” when she was told she had received the nod.
Steph – who returned to ‘Hollyoaks’ in October last year following a stint in rehab to overcome her alcohol issues – recently wrote on Instagram Stories: “THANKYOUUUUUUUU!!!! OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Rock is rebooting the ‘Saw’ franchise.
The 54-year-old comedian-and-actor will partner with Lionsgate to create “a really intense and twisted” re-imagining of the $1bn horror franchise, which consists of eight feature films and was created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
The series follows psychopathic serial killer John Kramer, also called the ‘Jigsaw Killer’ or ‘Jigsaw’ who traps his victims in horrifically perilous situations that he calls “games” to test their will to live through physical and psychological torment in a bid to rehabilitate them for their perceived sins.
In a statement, Rock said: “I’ve been a fan of ‘Saw’ since the first film in 2004. I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”
The Lionsgate motion picture group chairman, Joe Drake, added: “This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous ‘Saw’ films. Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise.”
The remake is slated for release on Halloween 2020 and the screenplay will be penned by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, who wrote the script for the eight instalment of the franchise ‘Jigsaw’, based on a story by Rock.
Darren Lynn Bousman – who directed ‘Saw II’, ‘Saw III’ and ‘Saw IV’ – will helm the project.
Producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules added: “Chris wants to put his own spin on the Saw franchise in the way Eddie Murphy put a completely fresh perspective on buddy-cop films with 48 Hours. This new Saw is going to be an event film in the making for horror fans.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV bosses want to replace ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ with “something that involves the audience”.
Producers are said to be working around the clock to find a suitable programme to fill the daytime slot after the series – which aired five times a week – was cancelled after the death of contestant Steve Dymond, who died from a suspected suicide just over a week after taking a lie detector test.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “‘David Dickinson’s Real Deal’ is on at the moment in Kyle’s place but is struggling for ratings.
“The slot needs to be filled by something that involves the audience or the public. There are lots of meetings and plans being drawn up.”
Host Jeremy Kyle has been left “devastated” by Steve’s death and he has sent his “thoughts and sympathies” to his family.
He said: “Myself and the production team I have worked with for the last 14 years are all utterly devastated by the recent events. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Steve’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.”
Announcing the end of ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’, Carolyn McCall – ITV’s CEO – said: “Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’.
“‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end. Everyone at ITV’s thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond.
“The previously announced review of the episode of the show is underway and will continue.”
But the network won’t be cutting ties with Jeremy completely.
Carolyn added: “ITV will continue to work with Jeremy Kyle on other projects.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Cressida Dick says ‘Line of Duty’ is “rather ridiculous” and the level of police corruption in the show is “utterly unimaginable”.
The commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service has praised actress Vicky McClure for her portrayal of Detective Inspector Kate Fleming in the BBC crime drama, but suggested the programme’s depiction of corruption in the force isn’t entirely realistic.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “I met Vicky McClure … she is a brilliant strong woman, playing a strong part. It’s great to see strong women in the police in the drama.
“As you point out, the police force that she works in is astonishingly, appallingly corrupt in a way that is utterly unimaginable.
“The idea of most of what I understand of what happens in that programme is absolutely way beyond the bounds…
“We find, on balance, the fact that people are interested in the drama – whether they are rather extreme or even on some occasions, rather ridiculous – is getting people interested and thinking about policing, caring about policing and wanting to be involved in policing, that’s really important.”
Earlier this month, it was revealed ‘Line of Duty’ was the UK’s most watched programme of the year even before the season five finale had aired.
Writer and creator Jed Mercurio – who is also the creative mind behind hit series ‘Bodyguard’ – recently confirmed he is still in talks with the BBC about the future of both shows.
He previously said: “We’re currently in talks with the BBC about the future of both series. So at this point it’s not possible to say what will happen next.
“But it’s impossible to work on the two of them simultaneously, so it would have to be sequential.”
He has made it clear he would love ‘Line of Duty’ to return for a seventh series after a sixth was already commissioned.
He added: “We’re looking forward to a conversation with the BBC once series five has aired … about whether there is an appetite from fans to have more, or whether there’s a feeling the show is coming towards its natural arc.
“That conversation will be very specific, which is whether series six will be the last, or whether the BBC would be prepared to commission a seventh so we can approach series six knowing it’s not the last.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Rice has closed his waffle shop after becoming too famous.
The UK’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ act will be aiming to get more than “nul points” with his song ‘Bigger Than Us’ in Tel Aviv on Saturday (18.05.19), but in the meantime he had to close the doors of his shop in County Durham, north east England, after he was inundated with autograph requests from the spectacle’s super-fans.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “The waffle shop got a boost at first because I’d been on the TV.
“But it was getting too much doing ‘Eurovision’ and recording music while also keeping the waffle shop going.
“It got to the point where people were bringing their kids in for autographs. So it was hard.”
And Michael looks set to end up in the bottom five of the final ‘Eurovision’ table if a prediction algorithm is anything to go by.
Spread betting company StarSpreads.com has forecast the 21-year-old singer will end up with just 75 points in this year’s competition, and he has a 25 per cent chance of finish bottom of the pile.
Boffins at the company have factored in variables such past performance, voting patterns and critical reception to make their prediction, and have given the UK a 0.5 per cent chance of winning the iconic glass microphone trophy.
A StarSpreads.com spokesman said: “Our calculations make for grim reading for the UK and it looks a certainty that the wait for not only victory but a respectable finish goes on.
“Unless there’s to be a huge shock on the night, a score of 75 points leaves Rice in real danger of finishing in the bottom five again, with the threat of another wooden spoon looming large.
“As far as the prediction is concerned, sadly it’s more a case of who’ll be badder than us, not bigger than us.
“Our ‘Eurovision’ forecasting algorithm factors in a range of variables and on every single one of them the UK scores amongst the most poorly in the competition, in keeping with our current relationship with Europe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Neilson admits Nepal is the “strangest place” he’s ever been recognised by a fan.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has played Roy Cropper on the cobbles since 1995 – insisted he doesn’t often get spotted by viewers in his everyday life, but it once happened in the most unexpected way when he was visiting his son in South Asia.
He told Inside Soap: “The strangest place was Nepal! My son was out there on a gap year, about 20 years ago, and I was in a restaurant with him.
“It suddenly went very quiet and all the staff were looking at me. It transpired that the restaurant owner’s daughter had been studying in Sussex, and watched the show to help her learn English!”
David, 70, explained how the woman took “real comfort” in watching ‘Corrie’ while she was away from her own family, and admitted it was a surprise for her to see him in her father’s place of business.
He added: “She was very homesick, but found real comfort in watching this ‘Coronation Street’ community and their stories.
“So she was very shocked to see Roy Cropper sitting in her dad’s restaurant!”
Meanwhile, David has admitted he still enjoys playing Roy, and he loves the “big history” his character has on ‘Corrie’.
He said: “It feels like the strangest thing to do – we have one time on this planet and I have spent most of it playing someone else.
“But it is very nice that Roy has this big history now of 24 years that the writers and I can play with, and I enjoy that now in a different way.”

OHMYGOSSIP — David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will helm the new ‘Star Wars’ film.
Disney chairman Bob Iger has confirmed that the ‘Game of Thrones’ executive producers will direct the new movie, which will be the first film in the science fiction franchise after the end of the current trilogy.
He said: “We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B Weiss, who are famous for ‘Game of Thrones’, and the next movie that we release will be theirs. And we’re not saying anything more about that.”
Iger also revealed it may be some time until the release of that movie as there are plans to take three-year break between ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’ and the new film, helmed by Benioff and Weiss.
Speaking at a media summit on Tuesday (14.05.19), Iger added: “We thought it would be smart for us to take a bit of a hiatus while we figure out what’s next. Now, we’re not going to wait until [‘The Rise of Skywalker’] is released and start figuring it out, we’re actually hard at work doing that already. The conclusion that we reached was that three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to really gear up for the next film’s release.”
Iger’s comments come soon after producer Kathleen Kennedy insisted that although ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ is “the culmination of the Skywalker Saga”, it is not the end of ‘Star Wars’.
She said: “This [movie] is the culmination of the Skywalker Saga; it’s by no means the culmination of ‘Star Wars’ … We’re all sitting down to talk about, where do we go next? We’ve all had conversations about what the possibilities might be, but now we’re locking it down. We knew we were going to close this up, we knew that even before we started ‘The Force Awakens’. We are looking at the next saga. We are not just looking at another trilogy, we’re really looking at the next 10 years or more.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Emma Thompson is reportedly in early talks to join ‘Cruella’.
The ‘Children Act’ star is said to be negotiating a deal with Disney to star alongside Emma Stone, who is taking on the titular villainess Cruella De Vil in the live-action prequel to ‘101 Dalmatians’, which is set to hit screens on December 23, 2020.
Thompson’s part is currently unknown.
Little else is known about the upcoming film, which follows the life of a young Cruella, but in December it was claimed it will have an 80s punk vibe.
Craig Gillespie – who helmed ‘I, Tonya’ in 2017 – is set to direct.
Alex Timbers was initially helming the project, but was forced to walk away from the movie due to scheduling issues.
‘Cruella’ – which centres on the character first seen in the 1961 animated classic – is being produced by Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr.
Thompson has a number of projects in post-production, including ‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle’, in which she voices Polynesia, and she is also reprising her role as Agent O in ‘Men in Black: International’.
Meanwhile, the ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ actress recently called for better treatment of writers in Hollywood.
The 60-year-old star explained that many big budget movies begin shooting before the screenplay is finished because they want to start filming immediately once a big star is attached to the project, and said writers often receive “lip service” about the quality of their work.
However, the ‘Sense and Sensibility’ star shared that “after 30 years of doing this” she believes writing the script during shooting “makes things so much more difficult” and insisted that she doesn’t want to make movies “with unfinished scripts”.
She said: “One of the reasons is that they need stars – big stars – who work all the time and have to be fitted into timescales. What happens is there’ll be an idea for a story.
“It will be in development, and then suddenly two of the big stars come free, and everyone says, ‘right, let’s shoot it, we’ll work it out as we shoot’.
“One thing I know, after 30 years of doing this, is you can’t work it out while you shoot … It always ends up just making things so much more difficult in post-production.
“This is a tradition – and yet, when there is a good screenplay, and everyone recognises that it’s a good screenplay, there’s a lot of fuss and a tremendous amount of what can only be described as lip service to the value of good writing.
“And then everything continues as before. That’s what happens, and I don’t know how to change that. But I know that I don’t want to make films with unfinished scripts.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Ball has “heard” that Dame Darcey Bussell’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ replacement is likely to be a woman.
The 48-year-old host of the BBC One celebrity dance show’s sister programme, ‘It Takes Two’, has spilled that there have been whispers that bosses are hoping to get another lady on the judging panel alongside head judge Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli, although she would love to see veteran professional dancer Anton du Beke in the role.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, she said:
“I’d really like to see Anton in that role, he’d be amazing
“But I have heard there is talk the new judge will be a woman.
“They might pull someone out of the bag that we haven’t even thought of.”
Zoe – who competed herself on ‘Strictly’ in 2005 with Ian Waite – hailed retired ballerina Darcey, who had appeared as a judge on the programme since 2012, as “naughty and fun” and said whoever does step in her shoes will have a “hard act to follow”.
And whilst she says her exit was a “totals shock”, the BBC Radio 2 DJ believes it will be “good” for the show to have a “change”.
She added: “I loved Darcey. She is one classy lady but also naughty and fun, so a hard act to follow.
“It was a total shock, but sometimes a change can be a good thing and it’s good to go out on top.”
Meanwhile, the judging panel isn’t the only thing undergoing a shake-up.
Shirley recently explained: “The format will more or less never change but I know for sure that they’re making amazing tweaks. I know our new executive producer has some brilliant ideas and I think you’ll be really enthralled. I think they go up a notch every year and I think this year you’ll be quite surprised.
“They put everything they’ve got, the BBC, behind the show to make it entertaining for everyone on a Saturday evening. Even on [the sister show] ‘It Takes Two’ they’ve teamed up Zoe [Ball] with Rylan [Clark-Neal] so there have already been tweaks here and there.
“They’ve got amazing ideas, it’s going to be a big event and I think everyone will enjoy it. I embrace change, I think change is always good.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Dooley felt like an imposter at the beginning of her career.
The 32-year-old television presenter – who fronts a number of shows about hard-hitting topics and current affairs – didn’t take the traditional route into journalism and admits it left her feeling like she had something to prove.
She said: “I work in current affairs and I make lots of documentaries often about very highbrow issues I suppose. I left school at 15, no GCSEs, no qualifications. When I started my career, I remember walking into this very foreign, daunting environment and thinking, ‘I don’t sound the same, I don’t look the same, I didn’t study in any of these guys’ places.’ But you either let that cripple you and there’s that temptation to conform and behave the same, mimic their behaviour, or you think, ‘Actually, I’ve got to really take ownership of it here, work really hard and prove myself.'”
And Stacey admits it isn’t always “easy” to “silence” that voice of doubt.
Speaking in a video for Natwest bank, she added: “It is not always easy always silencing that voice of doubt in your own mind … I’ve certainly struggled with imposter syndrome, yeah, there’s no doubt about it. I suppose at the start, current affairs is very typically middle aged, middle class, male heavy, it’s very serious, quite highbrow, and I walked in as a 20-year-old girl from Luton. I sounded different, looked different, and didn’t study where they went to school. You do question whether or not you belong and I think there is that temptation to mimic their behaviour and conform. But I think that’s the worse thing you can do, I think you’ve got to celebrate how unique you are and take hold of those differences, make it work for you!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Graham Norton has urged ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ viewers to “pace” themselves with drinking games.
The AGE-year-old star will be back as the BBC’s commentator for the final of this year’s event – which takes place on Saturday May 18th in Tel Aviv – and he has reminded fans of the importance of taking it easy to make sure they can last the whole night.
He told the TV Times: “Pace yourselves. If you play a drinking game that everyone finds too easy you’ll never stay awake to laugh at the various presenters standing in front of the bleak abandoned streets of obscure European capitals saying, ‘Thank you for this wonderful show you are giving tonight.’ ”
This year marks Graham’s 10th anniversary as part of the ‘Eurovision’ team after Terry Wogan – who passed away in 2016 aged 77 – passed the torch in 2008.
However, he doesn’t like to call the role “work” because of how relaxed the evening is.
He laughed: “My job at ‘Eurovision’ is unlike anything else I do.
“I just sit back and watch the show, making the odd comment when I think it’s needed. ‘Work’ is really a big word for what I actually do on the night.”
This year, the UK’s entry will be Michael Rice with his song ‘Bigger Than Us’, and Graham has heaped praise on the 21-year-old singer’s talents.
He added: “The song is strong but what makes it really stand out is Michael’s voice and personality.
“To those that say we can never win, I would remind them of Portugal, Israel, Austria, Germany, all recent winners and countries that never gave up though many said they should. Keep the faith, UK!”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ hopeful Michael Rice has lucky charms from his grandmother to inspire him to victory.
The 21-year-old singer will represent the UK in the final of the annual competition on Saturday (18.05.19) with his song ‘Bigger Than Us’, and he has revealed how nan Carol will be pushing him on in his bid to win.
He told the Daily Star: “My nan is dead religious because she has an Irish background and she gave me this little card with Mary on it that she was given when he was a child.
“She also gave me some straw. I always have them with me when I perform. It’s nice to have something to believe in so I put them in my pocket for good luck.
“It’s a way of always having my nan with me. I think it helps me when I’m on stage. I will have them with me at the final because I know it’ll mean I give a better performance.”
Meanwhile, Michael – who won the inaugural series of BBC show ‘All Together Now’ last year – is eyeing up the honour of being the UK’s first ‘Eurovision’ winner in 22 years after Katrina And The Waves triumphed in 1997 with ‘Love Shine a Light’.
Dismissing the notion of “political” voting in the competition, the singer added: “People say we’ll never win again or that Brexit will mean we do badly.
“They think the scoring is all political. But I don’t think any of that is true. I think it’s all about the song.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz has blasted “domineering and condemnatory” Jeremy Kyle.
The 57-year-old broadcaster has slammed the presenter’s self-titled show – which has been taken off air following the death of guest Steve Dymond – for not being “civil” and “utterly smashing” those who appeared in order to air their problems.
She told BBC Radio 4: “I think people had watched his personality… and have felt may be it wasn’t healthy, it wasn’t civil, it wasn’t in any way the sorts of things that people feel comfortable watching and the net effect of utterly smashing someone to smithereens in public can’t be to make them feel great about themselves.
“I think the success of ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ really has been predicated on the snarling and the shouting and the attacking and the security guards and also Jeremy Kyle’s pugilistic, argumentative, very often hectoring and often entirely domineering and condemnatory personality.
“He has certainly riled and inflamed his guests and he’s flourished on the back of that.”
Vanessa believes audiences have “run out of time and patience” for the show and called for it to be axed for good.
She added: “They’ve just about had enough of seeing that kind of thumb of human misery. It’s unedifying. It’s distressing and maybe people have just had enough. Maybe this is the right time to pull the plug.
“I think that most people who watch ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ feel it’s surprising that something as tragic as somebody taking a life hadn’t happened before this.”
The presenter previously had her own chat show, ‘Vanessa’, and insisted her programme – which ran from 1994 to 1998 – had a very different ethos because she wanted the guests to feel “better” about themselves.
She said: “When my show started in 1994 the attitude to mental health and the perspective on mental health was very, very different from the attitude today, also the atmosphere on the show was very different.
“So it wasn’t confrontational. It was much more exploratory ‘Why did you do that? How come you made that choice? What led you to run away with your husband’s wife? Why did you decide to cop off with the best man at your daughter’s wedding?
“It was hoped I think that the participants would feel better rather than worse at the end of the show.
“That they would feel validated,seen, heard, supported by me, supported by the audience and would all in all feel they had done a good thing by taking part in the show rather than the opposite.”
