OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Hamill was “super excited” to be cast in ‘Child’s Play’.
The ‘Star Wars’ actor was delighted to be asked to voice murderous doll Chucky in the upcoming reboot of the horror franchise, and he has been praised by director Lars Klevberg for his “super-professional” attitude to work.
Lars told SFX magazine: “He loved the story. Mark was super excited to be a part of it. He watched all the ‘Child’s Play’ movies back-to-back when he agreed to take on the part. He was super-professional and really into it.”
The director admitted he didn’t even expect the 67-year-old actor to agree to be involved in the film, even though he was his first choice for the voice role.
He said: “Mark was the first one we wanted. We wanted someone who was able to craft a character that you can connect to.
“I also knew his work as a voice actor, especially his take on the Joker. When we reached out to him, we didn’t expect it to lead to anything. But he jumped on it immediately.”
The contemporary twist on the saga sees Chucky as a high-tech artificial intelligence (AI) toy who has a glitch in his programming that allows him to take control of technology with horrific consequences and the filmmaker thought it made for a fascinating way to tell the tale.
He added: “I learned early on that there wasn’t any voodoo involved, that it was an AI concept.
“It was interesting how we could tie that into Chucky’s arc and his transition throughout the movie…
“He’s capable of connecting to different products from the Kaslan Corporation, which allows us to be more creative in how he puts people down. We really wanted to stick within the horror and gore in this one. We’re not holding back.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Rod Stewart wants his own movie biopic.
After seeing the success of ‘Rocketman’, the movie musical based on the life of his old pal and rival Sir Elton John, Rod, 74, has revealed that he wants his own film.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: “I haven’t seen the Elton John biopic, but I’d love one of me.”
And he admitted the rivalry between the pair is showing no signs of dying out.
Speaking about Elton, 72, Rod said: “We have been in contact with each other a lot lately, bitching everybody out. We are still competitive. We text back and forth… how many albums I’ve sold and how many he’s sold. I’m winning.”
Elton has previously revealed that he was very “moved” by Taron Egerton’s portrayal of him in ‘Rocketman’.
The music legend was so “blown away” by seeing his story told on the big screen he couldn’t help but shed a few tears.
Speaking after a screening in Cannes, he said: “I never thought in my 73rd year that I’d be sitting here in Cannes with my own movie coming out; to be honest with you I was blown away. I cried the first time I saw it and I cried a lot this time.”
And although there are “dark moments” in the film – which documents his rise from humble beginnings to the top of the charts in the 1970s – the singer insists it is “lifted out of the darkness” by its music.
Elton is “very proud” of Taron, 29, for his incredible performance as him on screen and his willingness to sing his hits for the movie.
He said: “There are some very, very dark moments in the movie but the music lifts it out of the darkness and not only did he have to perform my life he had to sing my life and that’s a double whammy.
“When I look at him singing and when I look at him acting, I’m not looking at Taron Egerton, I’m looking at me and so that’s what moves me it’s like ‘This is me here.’ I’m very, very proud of this movie, I’m proud of my life, I’m proud of him [Taron].
“I knew Taron could sing and as soon as I met him I felt that there was something special there. When I heard him sing ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ I was flabbergasted. I thought, ‘God this so difficult to sing, this is just as good as my version really.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Marc Elliott would’ve returned to ‘EastEnders’ for Tamwar Masood’s wedding.
The 39-year-old actor would have loved to reprise his role as Syed Masood if the BBC had come calling about filming his character’s brother Tamwar’s (Himesh Patel) nuptials to Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) in Australia.
He said: “Oh, I’m sure Syed would love to have gone – Marc would have, too.
“I’d have said yes to [a return] for that.”
But Marc would’ve preferred it if Tamwar and Nancy tied the knot in the Maldives or the Caribbean.
He added: “Although, why couldn’t Tamwar have hosted his wedding in the Caribbean, Bali or the Maldives? That would have been much better, right?”
Marc made a return of a different kind this week when he reprised his ‘Holby City’ role as Isaac Mayfield for a new story with David Ames’ alter-ego Dom Copeland, who he loves working with despite them having to film in “claustrophobic” conditions.
The former ‘The Bill’ star added to Inside Soap magazine: “We were in what can only be described as a bunker for an entire day.
“It was quite tight and claustrophobic to get the crew in, with all the lights, which was great for us as, essentially, it’s two people in a cage forced to confront each other because there is no alternative.
“They are really quite intense scenes. I absolutely love working with David and while it looks as if we’re having a horrible, excruciating time, behind the scenes, we’re actually having a ball.”
Marc portrayed EastEnders’ Syed from 2009 to 2012 and went on to star as Isaac in ‘Holby’ from 2016 to 2017 before returning this week.

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Ekanoye will play Mistress Nightshade in ‘The Worst Witch’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star – who left her role as Angie Appleton earlier this year after 18 months in Weatherfield – will be part of the upcoming remake of the classic kids show.
Revealing the exciting news on Twitter, she wrote: “Delighted to say that I will be joining the coven of The Worst Witch and playing the fabulously flamboyant Mistress Nightshade.
“Well met #theworstwitch #mistressnightshade #narcissus @netflix @NetflixUK @bbc @cbbc (sic)”
Victoria’s final ‘Corrie’ scenes aired in January, and she took to social media at the time to thank her fans for their support.

Despite her exit, Victoria hinted she could make a return after her character split with husband Jude (Paddy Wallace) and returned to South Africa with their son George to get a fresh start.
She hinted Angie’s connection to Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) – who her alter-ego kissed in May 2018 – and on-screen mother-in-law Mary Taylor (Patti Claire) could prompt a comeback to the cobbles.
She previously said: “I’ve honestly had the time of my life and I can’t believe it’s been 18 months, it’s felt like no time but I guess time flies when you’re having fun.
“There was a lot of stuff left unresolved and I may or may not be able to confirm those things.
“Adam’s going to go out to visit and Mary will because of the amazing connection she has made between Angie and George so we’ll see.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noomi Rapace is set to star in ‘Sylvia’.
The 39-year-old actress will portray Sylvia Rafael, the South African-born agent of Mossad, the national intelligence agency of Israel, in the movie from Vicky Jewson.
The script is being penned by Jewson and Rupert Whitaker – who she worked with on 2019 Netflix thriller ‘Close’ – and is inspired by the 2010 book ‘Sylvia Rafael: The Life and Death of a Mossad Spy’ by Ram Oren and Moti Kfir, a former Mossad agent who trained Rafael.
The tome tells the story of Sylvia through the eyes of the man who trained her and draws on extensive real life research and interviews.
The book explores Rafael’s rise to the higher echelons of Mossad and her intelligence work trying to locate Ali Hassan Salameh, the leader of Palestine’s Black September organisation and the mastermind behind the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
Sylvia was part of a group of Mossad agents who mistakenly assassinated Morocco-born waiter Ahmed Bouchiki after wrongly believing he was Salameh.
Her and her team’s mis-identification of their mark would eventually lead to her arrest and imprisonment for murder and espionage in Norway.
Jewson developed the project with WestEnd Films under the company’s female led WeLove banner and the film will see her reunite with Rapace after working together on ‘Close’.
In a statement, Jewson said: “What is so enticing about this project is the opportunity to tell the true story of an extraordinary woman, who sacrificed a huge part of her life for a country that was not originally her own.
“I am keen to explore the unique personality of someone who put their life at risk on a daily basis and lived under a permanent dual identity, searching beyond the often glamorously perceived title of ‘spy’ to the gritty reality of this life and what drove her.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins is certain Piers Morgan will “love” Burger King’s new Chicken Fries.
The former ‘TOWIE’ diva – who has helped the fast food restaurant to launch its latest product on delivery service Just Eat – has poked fun at the ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter’s outraged reaction to Greggs’ vegan sausage rolls and suggested he try the new tasty treat instead.
She said: “Piers, we’ve heard you don’t like some products, but I’m sure you’re gonna love Chicken Fries.”
Gemma’s cheeky comment comes just days after she paired up with the BK to test out the latest item, and as part of the campaign she admitted she had “no idea” what to make of them.
After initially biting into the fries like a chicken leg and then overloading them with sauce, Gemma – who often refers to herself as “The GC” – settled on eating her BK food with a knife and fork.
She said: “Just Eat gave me the challenge to set the record straight on Burger King’s Chicken Fries.
“I had no idea what Chicken Fries were at first, were they a chicken shaped like a fry, a fry shaped like a chicken or a chicken and potato combo.
“But all is well as I do now, and they are delicious, perfect for lunch or dinner.”
Chicken Fries are available for delivery across the UK from May 13-19 before launching on both Just Eat and in Burger King stores across the UK on May 20, and Gemma shot a promo clip pondering the different way to eat them to mark the occasion.

OHMYGOSSIP — Malcolm McDowell says ‘A Clockwork Orange’ seems like a “Disney movie” nowadays.
The 75-year-old actor was catapulted to fame by his portrayal of charismatic but antisocial delinquent Alex DeLarge in Stanley Kubrick’s 1972 dystopian film, which is based on Anthony Burgess’ novel of the same name.
In 1973, the movie was withdrawn from British release at the request of Kubrick following a number of copycat crimes committed in the country which were similar to the violent assaults depicted in the film, such as the beating of a vagrant man by Alex and his gang of “droogs”.
Now, 46 years later, Malcolm says the cult hit has “found the audience” it was meant for and can be understood as a black comedy and a satire on society, whilst the violence is tame compared to modern movies.
In an interview with Dazed, he said: “When it first came out people watched it in stony silence. They were shocked by these new kinds of visuals … In the last 20 years, especially young people, see it for what it is: a black comedy. They laugh all the way through. So, finally, ‘Clockwork’ has found the audience we thought we were making the movie for. I think enough time has gone past that you know the violence on screen is saturated, you can’t go any further. I think when Sam Peckinpah was making really violent movies, that was a slow-motion violence, a ballet. ‘Clockwork’ for this generation is like a Disney movie now.”
One of A Clockwork Orange’s most shocking sequences is when Alex and his gang enter the home of writer F. Alexander and beat him to the point where he is crippled for life and then Alex rapes his wife whilst singing the musical song ‘Singing in the Rain’.
After being imprisoned for his crimes, Alex takes up the offer to try a new aversion therapy which will make him physically sick if he tries to engage in any violent acts in return for an early release from his sentence.
It is the therapy the character receives which becomes the central question of the film, as it robs Alex of his free will and therefore robs him of his humanity as he is not rehabilitated by his own changes.
Malcolm insists when he was acting out some of the more abhorrent scenes he never thought of his alter ego as “evil” but he isn’t sure if he holds any affection for Alex.
He said: “I never thought the character was evil. Listen, I love all the characters I play. Even the horrendous ones, even the ones who are so despicable – they all had mothers, they were all babies – but Alex, I don’t know. Alex is a dichotomy, isn’t he? He’s a guy who loves life. So you gotta love part of him, you gotta kinda love him because anyone who loves life like that – of course, at the expense of others – but, he has sort of mitigating circumstances.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Wilde is “grossed out” by Hollywood always focusing on her looks.
The 35-year-old actress made her directorial debut with ‘Booksmart’ – which follows academic overachievers Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein) who decide to cram four years of fun and mischief into one night – and confessed that it’s the only project she’s ever worked on that has nothing to do with her beauty.
In an interview with the New York Times newspaper, she said: “It is remarkable that I am 35 years old and this is the first job I’ve ever had that wasn’t entirely dependent on and connected to my looks. It grosses me out to acknowledge it, but I’ve been thinking a lot about it.”
The ‘House’ star went on to claim that although she finds it “exhausting” to be categorised by how attractive she is, she has become “numb” to this type of objectification as “that’s what actors deal with”.
She said: “Have I ever felt exploited? Yeah. Do I realise that I’d become numb to that? Yes. I had become numb to the fact that every meeting I went on – with men and women, by the way – I was going to be judged on my physical appearance. Because that’s what actors deal with, and man, it’s exhausting.”
In recent years, Olivia has been building a portfolio as a director; having helmed music videos for both the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, she has also created a series of short films for Glamour magazine.
The former ‘The O.C.’ star – who is engaged to Jason Sudeikis – has enjoyed all of her directing jobs because she gets to work in an area where “my value has nothing to do with my looks”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ita O’Brien consulted the lesbian ‘Karma Sutra’ for Suranne Jones’ sex scenes in ‘Gentleman Jack’.
The 54-year-old ‘intimacy coordinator’ has been working with the actress – who plays landowner Anne Lister – on the BBC’s historical drama, and Ita has opened up about the research she carried out for the racier moments in the series.
Revealing a copy of ‘The Whole Lesbian Sex Book’, she told The Sun: “I had to do quite a lot of research for ‘Gentleman Jack’. I used the lesbian Kama Sutra too.
“The important thing was to have a template — if you have a text that explains what positions the women favour and how they make love, then you can really honour that.
“I spoke openly about body parts, and choreographed the scene through to orgasm, using anatomical language, so everything was dealt with openly in an adult fashion.”
She added that there is more to consider than just basic outline of raunchy scenes in a script, and Ita – who also worked on Netflix original ‘Sex Education – explained the importance of giving more details to actors.
She said: “Far too often the writer just writes, ‘They have energetic sex’, and you’re left thinking, ‘What do they mean?’ It’s like if you put in a musical, ‘They sing’.
“Well, what are they going to sing? How are they going to sing it? What’s the melody? What are the words?”
Meanwhile, Suranne has previously opened up about how helpful Ita was when it came to making her feel comfortable.
The ‘Doctor Foster’ star said: “One of the great things she brought was an articulacy – we could talk about the scenes. She just started talking about body parts and positions in a matter of fact way, which just liberated us all.
“As well as helping us sculpt the sex scenes, the positions, she’s also there to provide support to the artists.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ has written Aiesha Richards out of the show after actress Shila Iqbal was fired over controversial historic social media posts.
The soap star was axed by bosses last month over past tweets from 2012 – which she posted as a teenager – and this week her character’s sudden exit has been addressed on screen.
On Thursday evening (16.05.19), Aiesha was brought up during a conversation between on-screen mother Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and stepdad Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel).
The pair explained how the character had abruptly “taken off” when she was meant to be organising a party for Amba Metcalfe (Ava Jayasinghe) because her “promoter friend needed her in Ibiza”.
Shila, 24, has repeatedly apologised for her past actions after being fired from the soap.
She recently tweeted: “I want to say I am truly sorry to anyone who I have hurt or offended with the tweets I sent as a silly, uneducated teenager. Please know I do not condone the language I used 6/7 years ago.
“Even if I was having a conversation with friends and had no malice behind the tweets, the now mature and wiser me knows that it was utterly wrong of me to do so. (sic)”
She has also revealed she wants to help raise awareness to the younger generation about taking a “moral responsibility” about using “language appropriately”, and insists she doesn’t use such language anymore.
Shila said: “I’ve grown and I’ve matured and I’ve become educated, six/ seven years later, I’m now a professional actor. I wasn’t at that time. I didn’t have the responsibilities that I do.
“I know now that young people will look up to me and what I say can influence them and I think that’s very important. I do own up to the fact I used inappropriate language. I don’t do that anymore, I don’t speak like that anymore.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Redknapp has joked he won his tax case because his son Jamie flirted with a juror.
The 2018 ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner has opened up about his 2012 trial – where he denied accepting secret untaxed bonus payments during his time as Portsmouth manager – and he claimed his solicitor pointed out a woman on the jury who kept looking at his son.
Speaking at a talk at the Royal Albert Hall, he revealed Jamie – who was married to former Eternal singer Louis at the time – said: “Don’t worry, I’ll keep looking at her as well.”
Harry joked he might end up in court again over the story, but added: “For 14 days her and Jamie were playing games. They’re giving each other the eye. She’s a stunner. The last day, the jury comes in to give out their verdict. I thought, ‘I’m in with a chance here.’ ”
The 71-year-old star was cleared of tax evasion, but the trial was even reference during his time in the jungle when camp mate Noel Edmonds made a very cheeky dig.
As the pair were getting ready for a trial, Harry said: “I hope it’s nothing too complicated. I’m not too good at doing things like puzzles.”
‘Deal of No Deal’ host Noel quipped: “And tax return.”
‘I’m A Celebrity’ was an emotional experience for Harry, who previously admitted he “feared the worst” for Sandra while they spent time apart shortly after she was diagnosed with Sepsis.
Harry said: “I suddenly got a message to speak to people in the bush telegraph, and they said you’ve gotta leave the camp, you’ve gotta go.
“I said ‘where am I going?’ I feared the worst. I thought Sandra’s obviously not well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Fox says not working with Ashley Taylor Dawson every day “almost feels like a real divorce”.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who plays Nancy Osborne – finds it “weird” without her fellow Channel 4 soap star Ashley (Darren Osborne), and she enjoys their scenes together when they have to play the “bickering” former couple, who split after Darren’s affair with Mandy Morgan (Sarah Jayne Dunn).
When asked if she misses Ashley being her on-screen husband, Jess said: “No, as I love it when Nancy and Darren bicker.
“It’s like sparring with Ashley so I’d be sad if that stopped. Although it is weird if we don’t work together every day – almost like a real divorce.”
But one person who Jess has been working with a lot more is Anna Passey after her alter-ego Sienna Blake confides in Nancy about the sexual harassment she’s received at the hands of Laurie Shelby (Kyle Pryor) – and Jess has loved teaming up with the 34-year-old star.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “We had a ball when we did the Nancy, Darren, Sienna love triangle all those years ago.
“Anna and I are incredibly close outside of work, and we always have a good time.”
Jess also has a good time when she is chowing down on cheese, recently admitting she would choose the dairy product if she was only allowed to consume one type of food for the rest of her life.
She said: “If I could only eat one type of food for the rest of my life, it would have to be cheese.

OHMYGOSSIP — Suranne Jones teases the possibility of a ‘Doctor Foster’ return.
The 40-year-old actress played the titular Gemma Foster in the first two series of the BBC One drama, and while a potential third season is yet to be confirmed, the star has refused to rule it out.
She said: “I love Gemma Foster, I love the reaction. Part of me would be so frightened… but who knows, never say never.”
For now, Suranne is focused on ‘Gentleman Jack’ – in which she stars as land owner Anne Lister in BBC One’s historical drama – and she has opened up about the work that went into playing the part of the Gender-nonconforming entrepreneur, and she admitted it was a “thrilling” experience.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she said: “I got in the gym. We played with gender with my costumes, so I wore male underwear over a female corset. It’s just thrilling, the whole thing, of putting this together.”
‘Gentleman Jack’ tells the story of Anne, who returns to Shibden Hall in West Yorkshire after a period of travel, study and social climbing.
Once back home, she engages in a quest to transform her house and business interests, as well as to find herself a wife.
Suranne stars in the upcoming BBC One show alongside Joe Armstrong, Jessica Baglow, Amelia Bullmore and Rosie Cavaliero.
Suranne admitted she has grown to take “more risks” with her career, and she was delighted to take on such a challenging role, which included filming lesbian love scenes with intimacy coordinator Ita O’Brien on board to help out.
She added: “To be a 40-year-old actress, to play this part, to use the 40 years that I’ve got of my experience, and to take more risks as I’ve got older.
“She’s so phenomenal that to be given the chance to play this, I’m just so thrilled.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Vinnie Jones is reportedly set to star in the celebrity version of ‘The X Factor’.
The retired footballer and TV hard man – who released debut album ‘Respect’ in 2002 – is said to be in discussions with bosses at both ITV and production company Thames regarding an appearance on the upcoming revamped edition of Simon Cowell’s talent show.
An insider told the Daily Star Online: “Vinnie looks all set to take part in the celebrity edition of ‘The X Factor’. Talks are ongoing and the details haven’t been agreed but it’s more than likely he will make the final line-up.
“He may have a rough and ready persona but Vinnie is a great singer and loves performing.”
It’s said that producers see the 54-year-old star as “a great character” who would keep fellow stars and the judges “on their toes”.
The source added: “Vinnie would obviously be a great addition to the line-up. He’s a great character and the public like him. I think it’s safe to say he would keep everyone on the show on their toes!”
The report adds that although the team want Vinnie involved, it’s “way too early” to have any solid news on who else is being lined up.
The insider explained: “It’s early days and producers have been inundated with requests from celebrities wanting to be on the show.

OHMYGOSSIP — Bryce Dallas Howard always “thanks” the set when she finishes work on a movie.
The ‘Rocketman’ actress admitted she can be superstitious and follows a regular ritual whenever filming has wrapped, as well as having the traditional actor’s avoidance of uttering the title of Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’.
Asked if she has any on-set superstitions, she told Total Film: “I don’t say the Scottish play. I won’t say that word.
“I also thank every set before I leave. People don’t notice I do it. I’m very stealth.
“But before I leave a set, what you’ll see is that I just stand there and look around. Then you’ll see me kiss my hand and press it to the wall. Just me being like, ‘Thank you.’ ”
The 38-year-old actress has made an effort to keep away from her phone when she’s working – but it means she now has to take “absolutely everything” else on set with her.
She admitted: “[I take] absolutely everything! I’ve always had this problem. The one thing I don’t take is my phone. I really try to minimise the amount of time I’m on it when I’m on set. It changes everything.
“Because I don’t have my phone, that means I have to bring a library, entertainment, food to sustain me for days and days.
“It’s ridiculous. I try to keep it analogue and not digital. I’ll bring a backpack. Usually a purse, but sometimes I’ll bring a roller case.”
Howard revealed she always kicks off her day’s filming with a “big breakfast” while sitting in the make-up chair.
She said: “People often go to their trailer but I like to go straight into the make-up chair. I have my breakfast while I’m there. That’s the first thing I do… I don’t really like to say too much at lunch, but I like to eat a really big breakfast for that reason.
“When I was doing ‘Rocketman’, pretty much every day started with gluten-free crumpets. Oh my gosh, the crumpets! I can’t get gluten-free crumpets here in the States. Sometimes I see if they have any green juice, or, if my energy is getting low, I graze by the gummies.”
