OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Davies is being eyed for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Love Island’ star – who won the ITV2 dating show alongside then-boyfriend Kem Cetinay in 2017 – is said to be wanted for this year’s series of the BBC Latin and ballroom show after her role as Judy Bernly in the West End musician ‘9 to 5′ – based on the 1980 film of the same name, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton – brought her to producers’ attention, according to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column.
Amber is starring in the stage show alongside 44-year-old actress Louise Redknapp – who returned to her role as Violet in the show earlier this year after she was forced to pull out following a nasty fall – and Natalie McQueen, who plays Doralee.
The star shared her journey to the West End in a one-off reality show earlier this year, titled ‘Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5′ which aired on ITVBe.
The hour-long special followed Amber as she prepared to play Judy, a part played by Jane Fonda in the original film, which saw three colleagues band together in order to wreak revenge against their misogynistic boss.
The programme documented the actress’ vocal coaching and rigorous dance rehearsals to prepare for the show’s opening night.
Amber previously said of the experience: “Performing on the West End has long been a dream of mine, and something I have been working towards my whole life.
“There really is not better role to play and having the opportunity to meet and work with Dolly Parton is another lifetime’s ambition fulfilled.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Hagan has offered her help to ‘Love Island’ contestants.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star has urged new Islanders on the upcoming series of the ITV2 dating show – which ITV have confirmed will start on June 3rd – to “reach out” and ask for advice or support if they are feeling overwhelmed about the show.
She wrote on Twitter: “I know it’s love island soon and I just want to reach out and say to whoever the new contestants might be, on there or any other reality show, if you need advice or help with anything drop me a DM (sic)”
This news comes after ‘Love Island’ bosses announced they had written a clause into contestants’ contracts vowing to support their families during and after the series.
The ITV2 show’s producers are keen to ensure the programme – which has come under criticism for going ahead following the deaths of former contestants Mike Thalassitis, 26, and Sophie Gradon, 32 – is still seen as “positive”.
As for who will be heading to Majorca this year, AJ Pritchard’s brother Curtis Pritchard is rumoured to be among the contestants set to join the show.
The 23-year-old professional dancer – who, along with his sibling, was attacked in a nightclub over the new year – looks set to head to the Spanish villa next month.
A source previously said: “His body is ideal for being in swimwear all day, plus he’s a lovely bloke with a great sense of humour so is sure to be a hit with the ladies.
“They are also hoping that he will bring some sexy salsa moves to the villa.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Renee Zellweger would return to the role of Bridget Jones.
The 50-year-old actress has portrayed the unlucky-in-love character in three films based on Helen Fielding’s novels, most recently stepping back into Bridget’s big pants in 2016’s ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’.
Renee insists there is the “possibility” of another film as Helen herself isn’t finished with the character as she would always want to play her.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’, she said: “I don’t know. I mean, I know Helen’s written the book, so there’s that. So, I guess that means there is a possibility. If anyone wants to do that.”
Before reprising her most famous role from 2010 Renee took a break from acting for a few years because she had gotten “bored” with her career and didn’t feel she could be an “interesting story-teller” without gaining some more life experience herself.
She said: “You reach a point when you’ve been doing the same thing for a long time. How greedy can one girl get? You know, I’ve had some extraordinary experiences and when is enough, enough?
“And it’s time to learn new things. I don’t think you can be an interesting story-teller if you can’t relate to other people’s experiences because you’ve spent 25-30 years living other people’s lives.
“I was bored, not with my work, I always loved my work, I was bored with myself. I needed to grow as a person and evolve a little bit, learn new things. You only live once right?”
Renee will next be seen portraying Judy Garland in the biopic ‘Judy’ which tells the story of the musical legend as she arrived in London in 1969 to perform a series of sold-out concerts in Britain.
The Oscar winner – who is releasing an album of her singing Judy’s biggest hits – was thrilled to land the role of the iconic Hollywood actress-and-singer and get the chance to show audiences “just how truly exceptional she was”.
She said: “It’s an important part of her story because it shines a spotlight on just how truly exceptional she was.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson claims the cancellation of ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ is an unfair attack on “Brexiteers”.
The ‘Grand Tour’ host has hit out at the “hyenas and vultures” who have condemned the programme – which has been taken off air after a guest, Steve Dymond, took his own life a week after taking a lie detector test on the show – and insisted the attitude towards the show and its viewers has changed because so many voted to leave the European Union.
He wrote in his column for the Sunday Times newspaper: “As I write, the hyenas and vultures are picking over its carcass, saying that such lowbrow nonsense should never have been broadcast. And that its like should never be seen again.
“I see. So what sort of show should be beamed into the plasma-filled homes of the fat and the unintelligent? Repeats of the Richard Dimbleby lectures?
“…You’d imagine that the soft-left intelligentsia on Twitter would be happy to let the farmyard animals in the north of England have this kind of thing to distract them from mending the latch on their outside lavatory doors or warming up after a chilly dip in the tin bath.
“I mean, these good northern people are proper, honest socialists. Except that, now, they’re not. They’re Brexiteers. Which means they must have their playthings taken away.”
The 59-year-old presenter – who voted to remain – admitted it is “probably right” the show was axed in the wake of the tragedy but insisted there is no need to put a more high-brow programme in its morning timeslot.
Reflecting on the closure of pubs and the criticism faced by supporters of Nigel Farage, he added: “All of which brings me back to ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ and the ridiculously gleeful reaction to its demise. Sure, a guest went home having failed a lie detector test and, it seems, took his own life.
“That is extremely sad and it’s probably right the show is canned. But it should be replaced with something similar. Something with its eyebrows in its hairline.”

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Pritchard’s brother Curtis Pritchard is rumoured to be among the contestants set to join ‘Love Island’ – and ITV have confirmed a start date for the show.
The 23-year-old professional dancer – who, along with his sibling, was attacked in a nightclub over new year – looks set to head to the Majorcan villa next month, with the programme confirmed for a June 3rd start.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: “His body is ideal for being in swimwear all day, plus he’s a lovely bloke with a great sense of humour so is sure to be a hit with the ladies.
“They are also hoping that he will bring some sexy salsa moves to the villa.”
The programme will return to our screens on Monday June 3rd after a short clip confirmed the news on Monday (20.05.19).
The 10-second video, shared on ITV2’s official Twitter account, featured the hashtag “DayDotIsComing”, a nod to the phrase Islanders tend to use to describe their first day in the villa, and the start date was displayed.
Show host Caroline Flack then floated into vision on a Barbie pink inflatable.
Confirmation of the show’s start date comes after a number of people called for the programme to be axed following the deaths of former contestants Sophie Gradon, 32, and Mike Thalassitis, 26, and after ITV pulled ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ last week after 14 years on air, following the death of participant Steve Dymond.
Reality TV star Nicola McLean said: “I do think JK is being victimised. Why is it only his show being pulled off the air?
“He’s done a lot of good and I think he’s been wrongly victimised. I think it’s a very bizarre … ‘Love Island’ is coming on very soon, the show that’s making the most money for ITV brand and I think this is a mask so we don’t have to ban ‘Love Island’. ‘Let’s get Jeremy Kyle so we don’t have to get that.’ ”
Former ‘Love Island’ contestant Malin Andersson recently called for the show to take a break.
She asked her Twitter followers: “Do you think Love Island should air this summer? (sic)”
Malin then wrote: “I reckon the bad outweighs the good (sic)”
However, a number of stars have also defended the show.
Rosie Williams – who appeared on last year’s series – said: “I think that people are going to continue watching reality TV regardless of incidents linked to the shows in general.
“I don’t think they should cancel ‘Love Island’. There’s a lot more going on than just the reality TV show. I just think the aftercare and the analysis beforehand needs to be properly thought out and properly considered.
“Because it’s down to the person themselves and whether they can cope with certain aspects of each show.”

OHMYGOSSIP — John Hannah is set to star in ‘Liar’.
The 57-year-old actor will reunite with his ‘The Mummy’ co-stars Corey Johnson and Oded Fehr in a new “socially conscious” horror film revolving around an LGBTQ family, according to Variety.
The cast will also include Katarina Cas, Julian Kostov, Alexandra Gilbreath and Jen Brister and production will start later this year.
The film will be written and directed by Ethan Crow and will follow self-proclaimed occult expert Dr. Steven Caramore (Johnson) who spends his life debunking supernatural claims of possession and haunting.
When his friend (Fehr) is accused of murder and claims he was possessed by a demon, Caramore litters an apartment inhabited by an unsuspecting family (Cas and Brister) with cursed items and sets up surveillance equipment, setting off a chain of supernatural events. Hannah is to star as Fehr’s lawyer.
Hannah recently starred in the second series of four-part BBC drama ‘Trust Me’ as sinister doctor Archie Watson.
The series followed Corporal Jamie McCain (Alfred Enoch), who is recovering from a spinal injury which has left him paralysed. But he faces a new enemy when patients on the ward start dying unexpectedly around him.
Hannah previously said of the series: “It’s a very dramatic setting – people die, people are born. We’re conscious of the pressures of the staff, the emotional turmoil that patients are under, so that gives us all the elements we need without having to manufacture that.
“I think it’s similar to cop shows and the whole idea of mystery, suspense and thriller.”
The series previously starred Jodie Whittaker as Nurse Cath Hardacre, who steals her friend’s identity to pose as an A&E doctor.
Jodie did not return for the second series after landing the role of the Thirteenth Doctor in ‘Doctor Who’.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Neighbours’ star Takaya Honda has got engaged.
The 31-year-old actor – who featured in Australian TV’s first-ever same-sex wedding when his character David Tanaka married Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson) on the Channel 5 soap – popped the question to Amy Schwab on a Byron Bay beach.
He told Australia’s New Idea magazine: “I’ve sat with Amy and watched her see me propose to a man on TV … twice.
“Thankfully, this wasn’t the exact same scenario, because Matt’s character refused the first time I asked him to marry me.”
Takaya wore a jacket which was “much too warm” for the occasion because he wanted to hide the ring box in his pocket, and while he wasn’t nervous, he couldn’t stop talking during the proposal.
He said: “I just kept talking heaps. I mean, I talk a lot anyway, but I was thinking ‘shut up’ in my mind.
“I wasn’t exactly nervous, because with Amy and myself it’s never been a question of if.
“From the beginning it’s been a question of when? So thankfully I went into the proposal thinking I knew what the answer would be. I don’t know how anyone does it otherwise.”
The happy couple are hoping to tie the knot within the next 18 months, and Takaya can’t wait to have kids with executive assistant Amy.
He added: “What isn’t to love about Amy, really? Outside of all the superficial things – obviously, I find her beautiful – she’s incredibly kind.
“She’s willing to stand up for herself. She’s ambitious. She wants to do better, be better, and she gives everything 110 per cent. I can’t wait for her to be the mother of my children.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Rice is returning to ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 24-year-old actor is “so excited” to be reprising his role as rapist Finn O’Connor in scenes which will see his stepmother, Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher) reach out to him for help after his sister Sinead Shelby (Stephanie Davis) reveals she has been raped by her controlling husband, Laurie Shelby (Kyle Prior).
Viewers will initially see Finn – who was jailed in 2014 for raping his teacher, John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) and attempting to rape Nancy Osborne (Jess Fox) – behind bars but later scenes will see him released and attempt to settle back into life in the village and Keith is “really intrigued” to see what the future holds for his alter ego.
He said: “I’m so excited to be back, and to be working with the talented ‘Hollyoaks’ cast and crew again.
“I’m really intrigued to see how Finn, following his time in prison, will integrate back into his family and also back into society.
“I’m looking forward to exploring it, and also still giving the storyline the respect and sensitivity it deserves.”
Confirmation of Keith’s return comes a few days after fans began to speculate he’d be coming back after catching a glimpse of him in a behind-the-scenes video released by the soap to celebrate the new title sequence.
The actor previously reprised the role for guest appearances in both 2015 and 2017.
Finn’s first return scenes – which will also feature lawyer James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) – will appear on screen next month.

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Biggins admits it felt like the “end of the world” when he turned 70.
The showbiz legend reached the milestone age last December and the thought of entering his eight decade filled him with dread at first, but he soon found the positive side of getting older.
In an interview with the Daily Express newspaper, he said: “For half a day it felt like the end of the world. But I quickly recovered. I told myself one of the advantages of this milestone birthday was that I no longer needed to accept every job I was offered. I mean, there’s a limit to how many toasters you can own!”
Biggins has lost some of his showbiz friends along the way such as Lynda Bellingham – who was famous for being the mother in the long-running series of “Oxo Family” television adverts – and Cilla Black, whom he co-presented ‘Surprise Surprise’ with for three seasons.
The former ‘Porridge’ actor admits he still misses speaking with Cilla now, almost four years after her death at the age of 72.
He said: “Cilla was a legend. I adored her. Whenever I went abroad I’d always ring her on my return. It’s a reflex that’s still hard to break. I get home with a story I’m longing to share and then realise, of course, I can’t.
“In retrospect. I think I made a mistake leaving the show [‘Surprise Surprise] after three seasons. But it did nothing to dent out friendship.”
Recalling his long-time friendship with Lynda – who died in October 2014 at the age of 66 from cancer – he added: “She was one of my closest friends, like a sister to me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Rundle was “desperate” to star in ‘Gentleman Jack’ when she heard Sally Wainwright had written the period drama.
The 31-year-old actress plays Ann Walker in the BBC One show, which tells the story of her character’s relationship with industrialist Anne Lister (Suranne Jones), and Sophie was keen to appear in the programme after reading about the “most extraordinary love story” in the scripts.
She said: “I got an email from my agent saying that there’s this new series written by Sally, who I’d worked with before on ‘Happy Valley’. She said she’d like me to come in for Ann Walker and sent me six scripts.
“Having read them all I remember thinking this is one of the most extraordinary love stories I’ve ever read, regardless of the fact that these are two women it is just a beautiful love story.
“Plus Sally Wainwright’s name is synonymous with the best drama we’re producing in this country, so obviously I was desperate to do it.”
The period drama, which began on Sunday night (19.05.19), is set in Halifax, west Yorkshire, in 1832, and Sally says Suranne “blew [her] away” with her audition as no-nonsense landowner Anne.
She said: “For a long time I couldn’t imagine who would be Anne Lister because in my mind she’s just this epic, epic woman and I couldn’t imagine who could ever bring enough to it. Suranne came in to read and she just blew me away right from the start.
“It was clear she’d thought about it a lot and there was something special about her energy. So by the time we had started filming it felt very well formed because Suranne had put a huge amount of work in.
“I think she has captured something really extraordinary; all of Anne Lister’s passion for life, the humour, her physical energy.”
Suranne added: “I remember Sally saying at my audition, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to find someone who’s going to do this part because they need to be big, energetic, they need to be fun, they need to be dark, they need to be Heathcliffian…’
“She went on and on and then said, ‘Anyway, do you want to have a read?’ I thought, ‘How am I going to do all that?’ I don’t know if I’ve done it but Sally is happy enough and that’s good.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Craig and Ana De Armas will reportedly work with an “intimacy coordinator” for their sex scenes in ‘Bond 25’.
Bosses on the upcoming action film are “going to extra lengths” to ensure that 51-year-old Craig – who is portraying the suave spy for a fifth time on screen – and new Bond girl Ana, 31, “feel comfortable” with all the lovemaking scenes in the movie.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, a source said: “Producer Barbara Broccoli and her team are going all out to bring Bond up to speed. It’s all changed in the #MeToo era and they’re going to extra lengths to make sure all the stars are getting the support they need on set, including during some of the more risqué sex scenes.
“An intimacy coordinator is now on set during those scenes and is working with Daniel Craig and new Bond girl Ana De Armas to run through the script and make sure they feel comfortable. It’s really progressive and is a step in the right direction – not just for Bond but the industry as a whole.”
Phoebe Waller-Bridge – who wrote the script of the hit assassin thriller TV series ‘Killing Eve’ and wrote and starred in the BBC comedy-drama ‘Fleabag’ – recently joined the writing team for the film and she teased that she will try and “sneak in” some of her signature feminist humour into the 007 franchise.
She said: “It’s really exciting. The film they’ve got is such an exciting story. It’s been a joy to work on. It’s mainly about making them feel like real people, which they do in the previous films. I think Daniel’s films have had really fantastic Bond girls and it’s about keeping that up.”
Asked whether she would be including her famous feminist humour in the script, Phoebe said: “Well, we’ll see, we’ll see what I can sneak in.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne Heche and Thomas Jane have joined ‘Salvage’.
Anne, 49, who rose to mainstream prominence in the late 1990s films such as ‘Donnie Brasco’ and ‘Six Days, Seven Nights’ is set to star alongside the 50-year-old actor in the upcoming sci-fi action feature from Shane Dax Taylor.
The film’s screenplay was co-written by Taylor and Chad Law and the movie will feature an original score composed by Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains.
The thriller will follow two couples fighting to survive on a houseboat as it moves downriver in a post-apocalyptic America.
‘Salvage’ was announced in Cannes by Wonderfilm Global and producers include Steven Schneider and Taylor. Executive producers on the film are Stuart Manashil, Corky Taylor, Jeff Bowler and Bret Saxon.
Wonderfilm Global CEO Andy Lyon said: “We’re excited to introduce Salvage to the industry for the first time in Cannes.
“This film is shaping up to raise the genre bar to a new level with a phenomenal cast, an enthralling script and a truly remarkable team in front of and behind the cameras.”
Anne is currently starring as Deputy Katherine Brennan in hit NBC show ‘Chicago P.D’ which follows the Intelligence Unit of the 21st District of the Chicago Police Department and recently starred as Mary Ellis in 2019 film ‘The Best of Enemies’.
The film followed the real-life story of Ann Atwater (Taraji P. Henson), a civil rights activist in Durham, North Carolina, who battles with the Ku Klux Klan leader C. P. Ellis (Sam Rockwell) for a decade until 1971, when the two agree to co-chair a two-week community meeting to deal with a court-ordered school desegregation decree, which changes both of their lives.

OHMYGOSSIP — John Hillcoat is remaking ‘Witchfinder General’.
Nicolas Winding Refn was originally on board to helm the re-imagining of the 1968 historical horror drama, however, has now taken a step back to just produce the film and has handed over the position to ‘The Road’ director, John.
The original film – which was was re-titled ‘The Conqueror Worm’ in the United States – was set in Norfolk in 1645, and told a fictionalised story about real-life witch hunter Matthew Hopkins (Vincent Price) who is appointed Witchfinder General by the Puritans under Cromwell.
His position enabled him to travel the countryside with his henchmen and collect a fee for each witch he extracted a confession from – leading him to sidestepped morality and ethics under the guise of religious purity during the Civil War.
The original – which was directed by Michael Reeves – became notorious for its violence and scenes of torture.
Hopkins’ witch-finding career began in March 1644 and lasted until his retirement in 1647 and he and his associates were responsible for more people being hanged for witchcraft than in the previous 100 years.
Jon Croker – who penned ‘The Woman in Black: Angel of Death’ – wrote the script for the new film, which will look to shoot later this year.
In a statement, Hillcoat said: “I am excited to work with fellow filmmaker Nic Refn, a maverick auteur and who, together with [producer] Rupert Preston, have been fully committed to independent cinema over the years.
“I’m drawn to the dynamic departures behind this remake. The idea of a world pushed to extremes where fear preys upon all, unleashing religious fanaticism, rival factions, tribalism, heretics, and witch hunts… feels strangely familiar in today’s world.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The UK’s biggest broadcasting union has passed an emergency motion about ‘Love Island’ and ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’.
The Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theatre Union (BECTU) have expressed their concern about how much support and care members of staff and guests on reality shows receive, and they are keen for employers to “accept greater responsibility for the mental wellbeing of workers and participants”.
Speaking on Sunday (19.05.19) at the union’s conference in Brighton, head of BECTU, Philippa Childs is quoted by The Guardian newspaper as saying: “Broadcast industry members, including TV and production staff, have put forward a motion following recent events in the TV industry around ‘Jeremy Kyle’ and ‘Love Island’.
“These formats place a weight of responsibility on production staff and as such play a huge role in workplace stress, as they navigate dealing with vulnerable participants who we know also suffer.
“BECTU’s members include staff from ITV and the BBC, where it is the biggest trade union, as well as across the film and theatre industry. The motion was unanimously passed by the 200 BECTU conference delegates.
“This emergency motion will see us negotiate with employers to accept greater responsibility for the mental wellbeing of workers and participants as we mark Mental Health Awareness Week.
“It is much easier to take preventative measures than to put a plaster on things when the effects of stress take hold. It is also a question of maintaining dignity at work for everyone who contributes to TV and radio programmes.”
Last week, ITV chief executive, Carolyn McCall, announced that after 14 years on air ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ had been axed amid the death of one of its guests, while ITV is reviewing the support offered to contestants after their stint on ‘Love Island’ following the deaths of former participants Sophie Gradon, 32, and Mike Thalassitis, 26.

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt says cruel online trolls left her unable to leave her house.
The 29-year-old TV presenter took to Instagram on Sunday (19.05.19) to confess that she spiralled into a “state of depression” after online bullies targeted her about her weight – but insisted now she’s able to love her “assets” and is “living her best life”.
Sharing a photo of herself during an appearance on ‘Love Island: Aftersun’ last year, she wrote: “Its mental health awareness week and the focus is on body image. I used to avoid this photo it would upset me because even thinking about this moment where I got trolled for the way I looked reminded me of the state of depression it sent me in to the point where I didn’t even want to leave the house!
“But I don’t think that looking at this photo now! NOW I see a young girl living her best life appearing on a show she loves, showing off her best assets and her curves. (sic)”
The former ‘Gogglebox’ star went on to explain that “life is too short” to be unhappy with your body and urged her fans who are struggling with body image to open up to their friends and family about the problem.
She added: “Our bodies are beautiful no matter what anybody tries to tell us or persuade us to think. Throw your middle finger up to anyone who tells you your too thin, too fat, your stretch marks are ugly, your body isn’t the right shape, your boobs are too small, too big, your bums too flat or too fat or you’re too fake!

OHMYGOSSIP — Beth Tweddle has given birth.
The former ‘Dancing on Ice’ champion has become a mother for the first time after she and husband Andy Allen welcomed daughter Freya Allen into the world last Thursday (16.05.19), and the retired Olympian gymnast and her newborn are both “doing well”.
The 34-year-old star wrote on Instagram: “Exciting news! Andy and I are delighted to welcome and introduce Freya Allen to the world. Born 16th May, both her and I are doing well. What an unbelievable feeling and we’re looking forward to the amazing journey ahead x (sic)”
Beth took to Twitter in December to reveal she was expecting her first child in May.
She wrote: “Really excited to share the news that Andy and I are expecting our first child in May 2019 (sic)”
Beth also took to her Instagram account to share a picture of her Christmas tree, alongside which was a blackboard with a note which read: “Our greatest gift is due to be unwrapped May 2019”
The couple tied the knot in June last year in Cheshire, north west England, and the retired gymnast – who won bronze for Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympic Games on the uneven bars – described her big day as “magical”.
She said: “The whole thing was just magical, more so than we ever could have imagined.”
Beth’s baby joy comes three years after a horror injury left her unable to walk or shower temporarily.
In 2016, during ski training for reality show ‘The Jump’ she smashed into barriers while practicing a jump, resulting in her breaking her neck.
She was airlifted to hospital from the ski slope in Austria, and has since suffered flashbacks of the traumatic incident.
Last summer, she said: “There are still moments where I’ll do something and it hits home that it happened. I’m not 100 per cent better yet, physically or mentally.”
