Rita Ora’s keen to continue her acting career

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora is keen to land more movie roles.
The ‘Let You Love Me’ hitmaker made her big screen debut with a cameo appearance as a drug addict in 2015’s ‘Southpaw’ and that year also saw her go on to establish her character Mia Grey in the ‘Fifty Shades’ franchise, whilst she also appeared in the TV show ‘Empire’.
Rita – who has appeared in all three ‘Fifty Shades’ movies – can currently be seen in the live-action Pokemon movie ‘Detective Pikachu’, which sees her voice Dr. Ann Laurent, and it won’t be the last time fans will see the pop star on-screen.
Speaking of her aspirations to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, the singer said: “I want to do more films and keep doing a bunch more stuff, I just want to keep working.”
The ‘Hot Right Now’ hitmaker previously revealed Jennifer Lopez is one of her “biggest inspirations” as someone who has achieved success as an actress, singer and on the small screen.
She said: “I chose to do multiple things like TV and movies. I kind of can’t go back now. I really actually enjoy it. One of my biggest inspirations [besides] Beyonce, is Jennifer Lopez. She’s really hard-working. I see how much she does and I’m like, ‘I want to do that!'”
Rita said her decision to “broaden her resume” came as she wanted to experience new things.
She added: “There’s different types of entertainers nowadays and I really want to broaden my resume. I want to do movies, I want to do music, I want to travel the world, you know?”
The Proud’ singer previously revealed she would love to take on a superhero role.
She said: “Yeah, I would love to. I would love to do lots of films. For me, it’s always about the script. I would love to do things that involve power, or maybe something like a superhero.”
Rita blended her singing and acting talents together for her role in the ‘Fifty Shades’ franchise’s final instalment ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ last year, as not only did her character have a larger part, but she also teamed up with Liam Payne to record ‘For You’ for the soundtrack.
And following the success of the franchise, Rita even teased that her character could be set to star in her own spin-off.
She said: “There could be a sequel because I get kidnapped and there’s a whole thing that happens, I’m not spoiling it because the book is already out.”

John Wick 4 set for May 2021 release

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘John Wick 4’ will be released in May 2021.
Studio Liongate has confirmed a fourth instalment in the blockbuster action movie franchise – which stars Keanu Reeves as the titular retired hitman – and a text message was sent to fans setting a release date of May 21 in exactly two year’s time.
Announcing the scheduling, the company said: “You have served. You will be of service. John Wick: Chapter 4 is coming – May 21, 2021.”
News of a new addition to the film series comes after it was revealed that ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ knocked ‘Avengers: Endgame’ off the top of the US box office over the weekend.
The adrenaline-fueled adventure unseated the Marvel Cinematic Universe juggernaut – which enjoyed three weekends at number one – with an opening weekend of $57 million, and around $92 million brought in worldwide.
The third instalment in the saga’s haul is the best of the franchise so far, almost doubling the $30.4 million earned by its predecessor.
Meanwhile, leading man Reeves was recently honored and immortalised at the TCL Chinese Theatre as he planted his feet in wet cement at the ceremony in Hollywood earlier this month.
According to CBS Los Angeles, it took the 54-year-old star three attempts to get his signature carved into the concrete tribute correctly.
Reeves – who has had a varied career having starred in blockbuster franchises such as ‘The Matrix’ and ‘Speed’ to comedy ‘Bill & Ted’ – told the crowd it was an “honor” to lay his mark next to some of Hollywood’s greats and admitted he is “very grateful” to the fans who have “embraced” the films he’s made, which have “changed [his] life”.
He said: “It is a great honor to be here and to be invited to this remarkable, historical, magical place.
“To be included amongst all of the incredible artists who have made their mark here over the past 92 years, to be a part of this Hollywood tradition started by Sid Grauman all those years ago and which continues to this day, I thank you. Thank you very much.”

Mark Wright discovers murderous relative on Who Do You Think You Are?

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wright’s appearance on ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ led him to discover he is related to a murderer.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star has looked into his family tree for the BBC series and his quest to find his ancestors led to him discovering his roots are in the travelling community in Eastern Europe.
But most shocking to Mark, 32, was learning that one of his distant relatives was a convicted killer.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column, a source spilled: “After the amazing discoveries that Michelle had during her appearance on the show, Mark was hoping for similar results. They followed his family history all the way back and traced his roots to Eastern Europe and the travelling community. But it was the fact that he had a villainous relative who had committed murder that shocked him.”
Mark is following in the footsteps of his wife Michelle Keegan who appeared on the programme.
However, her family tree had more impressive people in it as the ‘Our Girl’ actress discovered a direct link to suffragette heroine Emmeline Pankhurst – the British political activist who helped win women the right to vote in the early 20th Century.
Michelle’s appearance on ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ has had a lasting effect on her as she wants to learn Spanish after discovering her heritage is linked to the European country.
She said: “I love the culture and the hidden gems of the island and it feels more special now when I visit. My family, friends and I love to holiday in Spain and it’s on my bucket list to learn the language. Tapas-style food is my favourite. You get lovely fresh fish in some great marina restaurants in Ibiza.
“My fondest memories of the island are at Cafe Mambo where they have live DJs and everyone watches the sunset. Anyone going to Ibiza has to visit.”

The 37-year-old singer got together with the ‘Strictly’ professional while she was competing on the Latin and ballroom series last year, during which she danced alongside pro Pasha Kovalev, and says she isn’t concerned about the show’s so-called curse even if he is partnered with an attractive woman.
When asked if she would be worried if Giovanni gets partnered up with a “hot woman”, she said: “That is a good question, but I do trust him.
“I feel like we have a real connection. He is also really supportive and he’s so excited I’m doing ‘The Waitress’. He’s like, ‘I’m going to be there on the first night.’
“We weren’t partnered up. We ended up having a bit of a romance on the show but it evolved into something so much bigger after that.”

The actress will make her first appearance as Sadie Cressington next week, where it is revealed she is the person who has been sending Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) anonymous texts asking to meet and give her money – and she is his ex-girlfriend.
Harry has been arrested for the hit-and-run on Grace Black (Tamara Wall), which left the club owner paralysed because he was unable to tell police where he really was as he didn’t want his boyfriend, James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) to know he was with Sadie.
But the former prostitute eventually comes clean to his paranoid partner, with his lawyer lover shocked to discover Harry’s secret ex is female.

Lorraine Kelly to cameo in Coronation Street next week

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorraine Kelly will make a hilarious cameo appearance as herself on ‘Coronation Street’ next week.
The 59-year-old presenter will be a guest at the same holiday camp as the Platt family, and when Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) learns her TV idol is within touching distance, she persuades her daughter, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and granddaughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) to chase her in a pedalo in a bid to meet the star.
Lorraine’s cameo is sure to offer some light relief in a big dramatic week for the soap, which will be airing in a later 9pm timeslot and will see the truth uncovered about Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) missing money when her grandson, David Platt, (Jack P. Shepherd) makes a confession and the identity of the Underworld roof saboteur unveiled. There will also be a special mental health episode focused around Carla Connor (Ali King).
The Scottish presenter’s appearance comes just a month after she was delighted to receive a name check in a scene in which Gemma Winter – played by Dolly-Rose Campbell – said she would love Lorraine to be her mum.
Speaking on her morning show ‘Lorraine’ afterwards, she said: “I was in myself watching it so there was nobody for me to go, ‘Oh my God,’ to.
“My phone just lit up like a Christmas tree.
“I absolutely loved that so much. It made my night, it made my week, it made my year.”
In the scene, Gemma told Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) she wished Lorraine was her mother so she could hang around with celebrities all day.
She said: “I wish Lorraine were my mum.
“She’s dead pretty and we’d have celebs round all the time. I’ve always wanted to be Scottish.”
Speaking to the TV, Gemma then said: “You tell ’em, Lorraine. She’s quite feisty really. We’re similar.”
However, Lorraine isn’t quite as keen to be Gemma’s relative, admitting it “would be a handful” if she had to be responsible for the Weatherfield motormouth.
Speaking this morning, she said: “Can you imagine being Gemma’s mum? It would be a handful.”
Lorraine has already made an appearance of sorts on ‘Corrie’ – she played a policewoman on a 2012 special, ‘A Christmas Corrie’, for ITV’s fundraising evening Text Santa.
Speaking on her show after filming the scene, she said: “It was quite nerve-wracking, but I absolutely loved it.
“It’s so exciting that I’m going to be in ‘Coronation Street’ – amazing.”
In the scene, Lorraine’s police officer alter-ego had a tug-of-war with Tina McIntyre – played by Michelle Keegan – over a judge of eggnog.

Richard Madden confessed he couldn’t sing after Rocketman casting

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madden told Dexter Fletcher he couldn’t sing after being cast in ‘Rocketman’.
The 32-year-old actor plays manager John Reid in the Sir Elton John biopic – which stars Taron Egerton as the legendary singer – and the star admitted that when the film’s director asked him whether or not he was a good vocalist, he had to confess that he wasn’t “great”.
Speaking at the UK premiere of ‘Rocketman’ at the Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, London, on Monday night (20.05.19), he said: “It was like one of those things you read in the script but then don’t piece it through and then at the end of my lunch with Dexter he says, ‘Oh you can sing right?’ And I was like, ‘Um, not great.’ He’s like, ‘Don’t worry we’ll fix it.’ ”
As for the tracks that have the most impact in the film, the ‘Bodyguard’ star says that ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ are the “big” songs in the movie.
He said: “Most impact? I mean sing ‘Tiny Dancer’ in the car all the time so that’s gonna be a big one. I was at a concert and he [Elton] dedicated ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ to me so I think that’s probably going to be a big one.”
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star added that although he was “terrified” to meet the 72-year-old musician before filming started, he felt at ease straight away as Elton is such a “nice and kind” person.
He said: “I was terrified to meet him he’s a living legend and then within seconds he disarms you he’s such a nice kind gentleman.”

Three Coronation Street characters ‘back from the dead’ in Carla Connor hallucination

OHMYGOSSIP — Coronation Street’s Carla Connor will see three dead characters when she suffers a severe psychotic episode in an upcoming episode.
The cobbles businesswoman – played by Alison King – thinks she has spotted her late half-brother Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) and Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia), who passed away recently when Carla’s factory roof collapsed on top of her, on the Victoria Street fire escape.
Alison said: “She believes she is being watched and followed so in her head she needs to keep on the run, she ends up in the park asking a stranger for help.
“When she won’t help her she then sees the most beautiful thing that will always help her and that is Hayley in her red coat so she follows her eventually back to Victoria Street and when she can’t see her she is absolutely mortified.
“The thing that means the most to her and always helped her get back on the straight and narrow is Hayley and she has gone. Then she sees her walking up the fire escape and she follows here – she has a hallucination.”
Carla then spots Aidan and Rana – and Alison admits the scenes were “hard to play” because her character was “so terrified”.
She said: “The scenes on the fire escape when Peter is there are so emotional, it was hard to play as it was so terrifying for her at that stage, inside her head everything is terrifying.
“She thinks she is seeing Hayley, then she thinks she is seeing Rana and she doesn’t know if Rana is dead or alive. Then she thinks she sees Aidan, to her it is real, she is in a very dangerous predicament and unrecognisable to Peter who is desperate to rescue her.”
Alison was grateful to meet up with a lady from mental health charity Mind who also suffers from psychosis.
She said: “It was really weird trying to encapsulate what she is going through. I met a beautiful lady through Mind, she came to meet with me at the studios.
“When I talked to her I asked so many questions, she suffers from what Carla is suffering and she told me that during those moments of extreme psychosis you are never not yourself but you are just the most terrified version of yourself.
“You are locked in there, when you are spiking in these psychotic episodes there is no way out. You are trapped in there and wherever you are or whoever you are with it is terrifying but you need to be free to go through it and this is what I am trying to portray.”
Carla’s psychotic breakdown will feature in a special episode as her desperation reaches new heights, and ‘Corrie’ teamed up with Mind to ensure the character’s illness has been portrayed as accurately and realistically as possible.
Julia Lamb, who runs Mind’s Media Advisory Service, said: “It’s refreshing to see ‘Coronation Street’ explore how traumatic events can lead to psychosis, one of a number of mental health problems which are frequently misunderstood and misrepresented.
“Carla is a well-established, feisty character and her story shows how incredibly vulnerable people experiencing psychosis can be. When we worked with Coronation Street to develop her story, it was particularly important not to give Carla generic symptoms but to show it affects her individual character. For example, not looking after her appearance or even her diet the way she usually would.
“As well as providing feedback on each script, we also worked with Kerry who met with actress Ali King to talk through how she felt and behaved when she experienced psychosis after a trauma. The result is a realistic storyline and a fantastic performance from Ali too.”

Jane Cox quitting Emmerdale for ‘different opportunities’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Cox admits the death of her mother a few years ago made her think about “the big things in life” ahead of her decision to leave ‘Emmerdale’.
The 67-year-old actress will bow out of the ITV soap in upcoming scenes when her character Lisa Dingle dies of a terminal heart condition, and the star – who has tried to write two films and a book but hasn’t had enough time as-of yet – is relishing the chance to try her hand at other opportunities.
She said: “It is completely life-changing. But I decided I wanted to do different things.
“My mum died a couple of years ago, so it does make you think a lot about the big things in life. As you get older life feels shorter – although of course I am going to live to 150.”
Jane admits there are “long, long days” working on ‘Emmerdale’, but she still feels “about 20-odd” and wants to explore more of life.
She said: “It is long, long days and then you don’t have time in the evening because you have lines to learn for the next day.
“I decided that this is going to be my time to do things I didn’t have time to do. I still feel about 20-odd, but in 20 years I will be 87, and there are other things in life that I want to explore.”
The former ‘Allsorts’ star admits she would’ve “never left” the soap if she hadn’t decided to call time on her Dales tenure recently.
She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I know if I hadn’t have left now I never would. Life is such an exciting thing, you never know what is around the corner. It was a big decision but I know it is the right thing.”
Jane first joined ‘Emmerdale’ in August 1996, but the part was only initially supposed to be for four episodes.
She will depart the Dales after her character marries Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) for a second time in upcoming scenes.

Disney composer Alan Menken says Pocahontas won’t be remade

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Menken doesn’t think ‘Pocahontas’ will ever be remade.
The 69-year-old composer – who has won Academy Awards for his scores on Disney films ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Pocahontas’ – revealed that despite the string of live-action Disney reboots the 1995 animation probably won’t be remade.
The musician argued that due to “modern sensibilities” it would be difficult to do a retelling of the film, which gives a fictionalised account of a Native American woman of the same name and her historical encounter with Englishman John Smith and the Jamestown settlers that arrived from the Virginia Company, as it would be hard not to “offend somebody”.
Speaking at an event to promote Guy Ritchie’s ‘Aladdin’ re-imagining, he said: “They all seem to be moving that way! The Little Mermaid’s next, with Rob Marshall directing and I’m going to be having lyrics by Lin Manuel Miranda – who I knew since he was a little kid!
“They’re developing ‘Hunchback [of Notre Dame]’, which will be complicated because there are dark aspects to that which we’re going to have to navigate.
“I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to do Pocahontas, I think that story is going to be difficult. With modern sensibilities, it’d be hard – you’re going to offend somebody – so I don’t know.”
Alan is very happy to “add to” the classic films and says the new song he wrote for the live-action ‘Aladdin movie’, which is performed by Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, was a “surprising benefit” of working on the film.
He said: “But I’m happy to come back to these films and continue to add to them. Writing ‘Speechless’ was a surprising benefit, it was one of those songs that wouldn’t have existed otherwise.”
