OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Banks loves horror movies.
The 45-year-old actress has “always” been a fan of scary films and has a particular fondness for zombie and exorcism movies, especially 1978’s ‘Dawn of the Living Dead’ and 1982 classic supernatural horror ‘Poltergeist’.
Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ to promote her new film ‘Brightburn’, she said: “I do, I love them. I’ve always loved them. I like ‘Dawn of the Living Dead’, I like zombie movies. I also like exorcist old school, I like those kinds of movies. My first big one was ‘Poltergeist’ which you know is also scary because it’s about everyday things which I think are really fun to be afraid of, you know like the static in the TV and the doll that comes to life and the closet that she ends up in.”
The ‘Hunger Games’ star went on to explain that her upcoming film ‘Brightburn’ – which follows a young alien (Jackson A. Dunn) who lands on Earth and realises he has super powers – was a “really cool mash up” of both the superhero and horror genres.
She said: “It’s a really cool mash up of horror and superhero movie, two things people really love to go see in the theatre, especially mashed together hopefully. It’s sort of the origin of a supervillian and it sort of asks the question there’s a lot of powerful people in the world do they use their power for the greater good or do they not do that?
“And I feel like there’s a lot of anxiety about that right now in the world, at least there is for me and I thought that was something we got to explore in this movie.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Hayley Tamaddon wants her ‘Coronation Street’ character to return to the soap to take over Street Cars.
The 42-year-old star portrayed Andrea Beckett in the ITV soap from 2013 to 2015 and admits it would “a dream” to reprise her role, and thinks she could “cause a bit of chaos” for Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
She said: “It would be a dream to go back to ‘Corrie’, it really would.
“I see all my friends from ‘Corrie’ all the time. I’m so close to them.
“It was lovely to go in the live [episode], it was such a celebration.
“But there’s always a chance she could come back, cause a bit of chaos for Steve.
“Maybe she could run the cab company for a while?”
Street Cars owner Steve may not need much more chaos in his life as on last night’s (22.05.19) ‘Corrie’ double bill he caused one of his cab passengers to get run over by another car, just days after he accidentally acted as a getaway driver for a criminal customer.
The police have now told him he will have his cab driving licence taken off him.
As well as mixing things up for Steve, Hayley hinted she wouldn’t mind reprising her role as ‘Emmerdale’ character Del Dingle, admitting she should be at Zak (Steve Halliwell) and Lisa Dingle’s (Jane Cox) wedding, which will air tonight (23.05.19), because her alter-ego is part of the family.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Hayley said: “Why am I not there? I should be [there] causing chaos.”
Hayley played Del in ‘Emmerdale’ from 2005 to 2007 before joining ‘Corrie’ in 2013 for two years.

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’ roles have been confirmed.
The 62-year-old actor and the 43-year-old actress appear in the final instalment on the new trilogy and although the pair where previously sworn to secrecy about their roles, Vanity Fair has now revealed that Grant will play Allegiant General Pryde, while Russell portrays Zorri Bliss.
Grant’s alter ego has been described as a “high ranking member of the First Order” who is thought to have a close relationship with Domhnall Gleeson’s character General Hux.
‘Americans’ star Russell will star as a “masked scoundrel” who inhabits the Thieves’ Quarter, an area on the planet Kijimi.
It was also confirmed that the film will include the Knights of Ren, a mysterious order of elite warriors who followed the Dark Side of The Force and were led by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). They have previously been seen by Rey (Daisy Ridley) in flashback scenes in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’.
Earlier this year, ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ star Grant revealed that the spoiler security measures surrounding the much-hyped sci-fi movie are so intense that he couldn’t even tell his wife Joan, 70, and daughter Olivia, 30, who he plays in the franchise.
He previously said: “I’ve never known anything like it – huge secrecy. I know it comes out on December 19 [and] I’m not even allowed to tell my wife and daughter the name of my character.
“They have security on the set plain clothes and visible, you have to wear a cloak from the trailers to going in the studio because they have drones going out overhead.
“You have to read the script in a big conference room that has guards outside with cameras. You get the pages that you are doing on the day you have to sign in for them and sign out for them at the end of the day, so it’s Fort Knox.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Hill has been absent from BBC One’s lunchtime news due to her battle with cancer.
The 49-year-old newsreader – who returned to her job on Wednesday (22.05.19) after a six-month break – opened up about how she has been suffering from breast cancer, and thanked everyone who had sent her welcome-back-to-work messages.
Jane tweeted: “Overwhelmed by so many lovely back-to-work messages. I just want to say that my return wouldn’t have been possible without our NHS.
“Sending love & thanks to the numerous #NHSuk staff who spotted my breast cancer, treated it, and continue to look after me. Thank you all. (sic)”
Ahead of her return to the show – which was her first stint since November – she told her followers she was getting ready for her big comeback, and said the BBC had cancelled her pass because she had been absent for so long.
Jane wrote: “Big day today. On air for the first time since November.
“Still… 6 months out of the newsroom… that’s been plenty of time to sort # Brexit, right…? See you for @bbcnews at One.
“Oh, and in true #W1A style, my pass had been cancelled and I couldn’t get into the building. #welcomeback (sic)”
Jane was inundated with messages from various celebrities.
Actor Sanjeev Bhaskar wrote: “Great to have you back Jane and that you’re feeling better. You haven’t missed much, nothing’s changed.”
Author Emma Kennedy added: “Oh Jane! I had no idea. I’m so sorry. But very glad you’re on the mend.”
Jane has been presenting the lunch-time news since 2003, after she joined the network full-time at the end of 1991.
She broadcast for eight hours in 2003 when Saddam Hussein was captured by US Special Forces.
Jane was also the first person to interview Kate and Gerry McCann on TV after their daughter Madeleine disappeared from Praia da Luz in 2007.

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ results have been corrected after a “human error”.
The Belarusian jury was axed after revealing their votes from the first semi-final – which is against regulations – so a “substitute aggregated result” was calculated and approved based on “the results of other countries with similar voting records”.
However, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has now revealed there was a mistake in the process despite voting monitor Ernst & Young previously approving the outcome.
The EBU said in a statement: “The EBU can confirm, following standard review practices, we have discovered that due to a human error an incorrect aggregated result was used.
“This had no impact on the calculation of points derived from televoting across the 41 participating countries and the overall winner and Top 4 songs of the Contest remain unchanged.”
It means Netherlands champion Duncan Laurence remained top with 498 as opposed to 492, while Italy’s runner up Mahmood had six points more than their 465 total given on the night, and Russia’s entry Sergey Lazarev finished with 372 rather than 369.
The change in results is bad news for the UK’s Michael Rice, who had already found himself at the bottom of the rankings on the night after his song ‘Better Than Us’ earned just 16 points.
However, the scoreboard now looks even worse for Michael following the revised results as he only has a score of 11 points.
Commenting after his loss, Michael previously said: “I always knew I was going to come in this position because of Brexit.”
And Michael believes even if the UK had been represented by an internationally-famous artist, they still would have come 26th out of 26 entries.
He added: “Do you know what? If it was Gary Barlow or Elton John, they still probably would have come last too.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Edwards has been giving James ‘Arg’ Argent weight loss tips on ‘Celebs on the Farm.’
The 31-year-old reality TV star has been getting fitness tips from the 26-year-old boxer, and the athlete is reportedly being super strict.
An insider told The Daily Star newspaper: “Arg has been warned he is dangerously overweight and Charlie’s taken him under his wing and is giving advice about how to get fit.
“He’s not only sticking to a diet, he’s got a new fitness regime – and Charlie is watching him like a hawk.”
‘TOWIE’ star Arg recently joined a boxing gym after being warned he is on “death row” because of his weight gain.
James signed up for sessions at Peacock Gym in Canning Town, east London – where top British fighters such as Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis have previously sparred – to train with boxer Anthony Yarde in an attempt to shed some pounds.
Meanwhile, ‘Celebs on The Farm’ features eight celebrities learning the ropes as they stay on a farm and compete with each other – and the early starts – to be named the winner.
Love Island’s Hayley Hughes, actress Tina Malone, comedian Crissy Rock, parasport athlete Kadeena Cox, former professional footballer Paul Merson, reality star David Potts and dancer Artem Chigvintsev are also on the new line up for the show this year.
Commenting on the series, insiders said: “Producers have really gone all out to secure some very exciting celebs.
“Some aren’t going to know what hit them when they have to do a few of the challenges. The series is definitely going to be bigger and better than last year for sure.”
For the first run last year, ‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro Gleb Savchenko was crowned the champion ahead of the likes of ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Bobby Norris, Olympic athlete Ashley McKenzie, former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ housemate Megan McKenna and ‘Ex On the Beach’ beauty Charlotte Dawson.

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis needed counselling while filming her ‘Hollyoaks’ character’s sexual assault storyline.
The 26-year-old actress – who returned to the soap last year after overcoming alcohol issues – met up with the Rape and Sexual Abuse charity to discuss the plot, which has seen her character Sinead Shelby raped by evil husband Laurie Shelby (Kyle Pryor), and she found the meeting “hard”.
Steph – who attended the conversation with her co-stars Kyle and Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) – said: “We all went into a big meeting and I think because of everything that I’ve been through, I found that day hard.
“They came in, I was there, and everyone who was working on the storyline was in the room.
“I don’t know if any of them had been through anything like that before, but I spoke to the charity afterwards and had a good chat with them.
“They were really good, and sensed how difficult I was find-ing it all.
“They asked if I needed counselling while filming it, and I said yes. It really helped me.”
Steph also admitted she found it tricky not to take the storyline home with her, but is “really proud” she took the plot on.
She added to the Daily Star newspaper: “When you are filming a storyline like this it’s really hard to leave it at the front door like you’re supposed to.
“Especially when you’re at work all day, you spend more time being that character than you do yourself.
“It was a big test, but I’m really proud that I did.”
Steph – who has two-year-old son Caben-Albi – has been recognised for her acting efforts since she returned to ‘Hollyoaks’ last year, after recently being nominated for Best Actress ahead of the upcoming British Soap Awards.
Speaking about the moment she found out about the nod, she recently said: “I couldn’t believe it. Bryan Kirkwood called me, and I was in work at the time.
“I went in the toilet and screamed the place down.
“I was made up, I couldn’t believe it.
“It took a few days for it to sink in.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Fox thinks ‘Hollyoaks’ adds realism to difficult storylines.
The soap star’s character Nancy Osborne is going to fight for justice after rapist Laurie Shelby (Kyle Pryor) has been released without charge, and it marks a change after her alter-ego had refused to believe Sienna Blake’s (Anna Passey) sexual harassment allegations.
She told Digital Spy: “I think ‘Hollyoaks’ has handled it really well and they’ve shown how different characters have given their opinions on the situation.
“Ideally, something bad would happen, it would get reported and then the person responsible would be punished.
“But that’s not always the world that we live in and I think it’s important to remember that the characters in the village don’t see everything that happens.
“Nancy hasn’t seen Laurie behave badly or being abusive, she only sees his good side. It’s good to show that and I think it makes the storyline more realistic.”
Jessica, 36, added she has enjoyed playing a character who “hasn’t believed the truth” because it’s vital to portray “that side of” such a difficult subject matter.
She said: “I think it’s been really good to play someone who hasn’t believed the truth. It is something that happens in real life and it’s one of the reasons why people sometimes don’t want to speak out – they’re worried about not being believed.
“So it’s important to show that side of it. But it’s also nice now that Nancy comes round and gets her redemption. Hopefully it also will be a path to more scenes between Nancy and Sienna in the future.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Flack has defended ‘Love Island’ after two former contestants committed suicide.
The 39-year-old presenter insisted reality TV shouldn’t be made a scapegoat following the tragic deaths of Mike Thalassitis, 26 and Sophie Gradon, 32, after some viewers called for the programme to be axed.
She told the Metro newspaper: “The show is a journey of love and emotions that everyone can relate to and learn from. We are a feelgood show.
“When something becomes popular there seems to be a desire to pull it to pieces and over-analyse it.
“This is about young singletons having fun, getting to know each other, in an amazing villa in the Spanish sun.”
Caroline claimed the team give “first-class care” to stars “before and after” their time on the island, and suggested the issues go much further than the ITV2 dating show.
She added: “There is a spotlight on reality TV shows at the moment but sadly this is a global problem we are dealing with; a modern-day life for all that is becoming overwhelming.
“We need to stop blaming speculating without the facts. As a human race we all need to come together, communicate, open up, express ourselves, be kind and be understanding of what all of us are dealing with on a daily basis.”
Her comments come after ITV confirmed it would be making a number of changes to their duty of care processes ahead of the new series.
Although the network dropped ‘The Jeremy Kyle Show’ following a participant death last week, the fifth ‘Love Island’ series is to go ahead on June 3rd.
ITV have revealed there will be more detailed conversations with potential Islanders regarding the impact of participation on the show, and bespoke training for all Islanders on social media and financial management, which extends support to all Islanders following their participation.
The ‘Love Island’ team have been working with Dr. Paul Litchfield, a physician and a former Chief Medical Officer, for the last eight months to “evolve and enhance” their duty of care processes.
He said: “I have reviewed Love Island’s duty of care processes from end to end and they show a degree of diligence that demonstrates the seriousness with which this is taken by the production team.
“The processes and the support offered to Islanders have necessarily evolved as the show has developed and grown in popularity.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Tobin thanked Dr. Hilary for saving both her and her baby’s life after going into premature labour.
The weather presenter revealed that she went into labour with her now 18-month-old daughter Charlotte 27 weeks early while working at the ITV offices and insisted that had it not been for Hilary getting her “safely” to the hospital, it could have been a “very different story” for the pair.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ – which was celebrating the doctor’s 30 years in breakfast TV – she said: “I was at work and I thought I just had a bit of tummy pain or Braxton Hicks and it was only Dr. Hilary that knew I was actually going into labour at 27 weeks.
“Dr. Hilary phoned the hospital, got me there safely, kept me calm and sort of kept me in the dark for a while so I didn’t panic. Because of him, Charlotte arrived safely and it could have been a very different story for both of us, so thank you.”
The 37-year-old star previously shared that Charlotte – who she has with husband Dean Brown – weighed only 2.5lbs when she born and her lungs weren’t fully-formed.
She has explained: “Lots of babies that are born prematurely, their lungs don’t work, they have chronic lung disease. They all have oxygen support for a long time.
“However, the bigger she got, the stronger she got, and then she came home off oxygen which is amazing. But it means she’s really susceptible to coughs and colds and things. I carry around a bottle of anti bacterial gel wherever I go.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne has moved on from ‘The X Factor’.
The 66-year-old star was first a judge on the show from 2004 to 2007 before making returns in 2013 and again from 2016 to 2017, but she has ruled out a comeback despite Simon Cowell’s singing competition getting a revamp for future series.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’, Sharon was asked about reprising her role and said: “”No. I mean, nobody’s asked me, but no.
“It was a part of my life, I absolutely had the best time, met great, amazing people, had the best fun! I was naughty, had a laugh, you know. But that part of my life is gone and you can’t go back, so I have to move on for myself.”
Earlier this year, the star claimed she was axed from ‘X Factor’ for being “too old”.
The talent show judge had been lined up for the 2018 series but – despite plans to have her appear as a fifth member of the panellist for the live shows – she released a statement shortly after the competition launched to say she’d decided she was no longer needed in the role, and she has since explained why she snubbed a slot on US reality programme ‘The Masked Singer’.
Sharon alleged: “I was signed on to do another show at the time.
“I was signed to go to England, and then Simon Cowell changed his mind and thought I was too old. Simon goes, ‘She’s old. We need somebody young.’ ”
She added: “So if you want young, fire yourself and get rid of those man t**s.”
Late last year Sharon, 66, took another swipe at music mogul Simon – who appeared alongside Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field on the panel – as she blamed the ‘X Factor’ boss for the show’s ratings decline.
She said: “Unfortunately, not out of malice, but I am only saying this because Simon’s quote thinks it is funny, that the figures have dropped, and dropped and dropped through the course of the show.
“I am not saying it was all me at all, but [it’s because of] his decision to change the show again and again and again.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Blackwood is launching a clothing line.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who played Vincent Hubbard on the BBC One soap from 2015 to 2018 – is turning his hand to fashion after departing Walford just over a year ago, and he is also looking to “crack America” with his stand-up comedy.
Speaking to The Sun’s Bizarre column, he said: “I’m bringing out a clothing range and I’m trying to crack America, because that’s always been the one thing I wanted to do.
“The stand-up has been received really well in the US.”
While he has swapped Albert Square for America, Richard hasn’t ruled out a return to the soap one day.
Speaking in January, he said: “I’ve got a movie coming out, also there’s some other stuff that is huge.
“But ‘EastEnders’, I would never rule it out. They were good to me, so I’ve got love for them.
“But there is something else, which is quite big.”
When asked if he would return if the plot was right, he replied: “Of course, absolutely, I’ve got love for them.”
And last year, Richard admitted the door was “slightly ajar” about a potential Walford return.
He said: “It’s slightly ajar. I can see the guys in there and they’re like, ‘Richard, how’s it going?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, just checking. We good? My family still there?’
“‘EastEnders’ was really good for me. It’s a fast machine. It taught me you don’t have the luxury of taking the time to overly rehearse.
“It’s very quick but it gets you to that place of landing it straight away and trusting it.
“It’s like a master-class. I’m very fortunate.”
Vincent was last seen on screen in April 2018 when he was trapped in a car with one of evil Aidan Maguire’s (Patrick Bergin) cronies pointing a gun at him.

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Wolfenden hasn’t seen any of the ‘Emmerdale’ grooming storyline – because he can’t bear to watch himself back on TV.
The 39-year-old actor’s alter-ego David Metcalfe recently discovered his girlfriend Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) has been grooming his son Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) for months, but today (22.05.19) was the first time he had seen any of the plot play out on the small screen.
After being shown a highlights reel of the hard-hitting storyline during an appearance on ‘Lorraine’, he said: “That’s the first time I’ve seen any of that, I can’t watch myself. It looked quite good.
“I can’t do it, honestly. I enjoy doing what I do, and I’ve had a lot of lovely feedback from all the stuff that we’ve done, and that’s enough for me.
“But yeah, I can’t watch myself.”
Maya was arrested on the second episode of last night’s (21.05.19) ‘Emmerdale’ double bill, much to Jacob’s devastation, and Matthew admits he isn’t sure whether David and Jacob’s relationship will mend.
He said: “I don’t know, I honestly don’t. This is part of the problem. These children are groomed and they believe that they are in love.
“They are being made to believe that they are in love with this person, and how you turn their mind the opposite way and get them to understand that it is grooming, it is sexual abuse, how are we going to do that?
“So I think it is going to be a long process, and we’re going to show Jacob’s struggle with that and David’s struggle with that.
“David is essentially going to blame himself for letting this woman that he brought into this house do this to his stepson.”
Matthew recently heaped praise on Joe-Warren for the way he’s played the grooming storyline.
He said: “I’m very proud of Joe-Warren. It’s incredible that he’s been put up for Best Young Performer at the Soap Awards, which I think he deserves more than anything.
“I’ve been with Joe now since he was 7 years old, when he first auditioned for the show. I’ve seen him grow up into somebody who’s nearly a foot taller than me, which is very annoying!
“He’s just blossomed within this storyline. I know he’s 17 now, but the show has given a child actor such a huge storyline. The way that he’s gone about it – so professional and grown up – is incredible.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Marnie Simpson’s face has got “bigger” since she fell pregnant.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star is expecting her first child with boyfriend Casey Johnson and though she doesn’t think her bump is very big yet, other parts of her body have changed, but she doesn’t care.
She said: “My bump isn’t very big at the moment, though my boobs and face have got bigger.
“But I’m not worried about gaining weight because the reward at the end is so great.
“I’m feeling really amazing about my body – because I’m carrying a child, I feel like superwoman.
“To me, it doesn’t matter what I look like.
“Having a baby changes your priorities and it makes you not care about the shallow things in life, so it’s already helped cure my insecurities.”
The 27-year-old star – who has previously had a nose job, breast uplift and facial fillers – doesn’t think she’ll be interested in cosmetic surgery after she becomes a parent.
She said: “I can’t see myself wanting surgery afterwards.
“I’d never rule it out, but as long as my body is still intact after birth, I feel like that won’t be important.
“My recovery and my baby’s health is my priority, plus I want three children so surgery would be a bit of a waste of time, money, and pain if I go on to have more.”
While she and Casey – who have been together for two years – are very happy together, Marnie is in no hurry to marry the 23-year-old singer.
She added to Closer magazine: “I feel like Casey is still a bit young and that in this day and age it’s not essential to be married to have children.
“I’ll just do it when it feels right, but when I do get married, I think it will be a very small wedding, with about 20 people there.
“For now, we’re just focusing on having a baby.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madeley’s mother “ceased” to know him as her son while she was battling dementia.
The 63-year-old TV presenter has recalled how the devastating disease – which causes a decline in memory and makes it difficult to complete everyday activities – took the life of his late mum, Mary Claire, aged 83, after she was diagnosed with dementia and incurable lung cancer on the same day.
He told the Daily Express newspaper: “All of us were agreed on one thing from that moment. We hoped the tumour would get her first.
“In fact that’s what my mother told me on the phone that night, ‘I want to die as me,’ she said simply.
“Mum lived for another two years. By then, she had ceased to know me as her son and called me Bailey, her brother’s name. ‘You’re my kid brother, aren’t you?’, she’d say whenever I visited her, as often as I could considering she lived in Norfolk and I in London.”
Richard also recalled when his mum thought Christmas was in July, but thanks to daily visits from a carer, Mary was “fundamentally functional”.
She added: “She phoned me one hot July evening to ask, ‘Is it Christmas this weekend? Are you coming?’ But with daily visits by the carer she was fundamentally functional.
“If I was taking her to lunch, I’d call to remind her in the morning and when I arrived, she’d be sitting in the kitchen with her hat, and coat, make-up applied, hair neatly brushed.
“But the house lights were always off, even on the darkest days. She’d be sitting there in the shadows, like a ghost.”
The TV host – who has kids Jack, 33 and Chloe, 31, with his wife Judy Finnigan – is hopeful that continued research and funding into the cruel condition will “eventually” make it a “survivable illness”.
He said: “I think we are moving towards the same place where we now stand with HIV – a multi-targeted approach that will eventually make dementia a liveable, survivable illness.”
