Olivia Wilde ‘absolutely’ wants to direct a Marvel film

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Wilde wants to direct a Marvel film.
The 35-year-old actress recently made her directorial debut with teen-comedy ‘Booksmart’ and she admits she “absolutely” would want to take control of a Marvel Cinematic Universe film in the future, and follow in the footsteps of Chloé Zhao who is set to helm the upcoming MCU film ‘The Eternals’ and Ava DuVernay who will soon begin work on DC Extended Universe movie ‘The New Gods’.
In an interview with MTV International, she said: “Totally yeah, absolutely. I think that it’s exciting that now women like Ava DuVernay and Chloé Zhao are directing [comic book] films and it’s exciting to think about what that will do to the franchise.
“I think it’s a proud … I’m a proud member of the movement of female directors, and I don’t think there’s any genre that should be off the table.”
Chloé and Ana aren’t the only women working in the superhero genre with Anna Boden co-directing Marvel’s first female-led stand-alone film ‘Captain Marvel’ and Cate Shortland set to helm the upcoming ‘Black Widow’ movie.
Patty Jenkins helmed DC Comics box office smash ‘Wonder Woman’ and has helmed hotly-anticipated sequel ‘Wonder Woman 1984’.
Marvel Studios met with as many as 70 different directors before selecting Cate to helm the eagerly awaited superhero movie and Marvel previously revealed they had always wanted a female filmmaker to helm the picture.
The film will see Scarlett Johansson reprise her role as super spy and Avengers member Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow.
Scarlett debuted in the role in 2010’s ‘Iron Man 2’ and the standalone adventure is reportedly set before the events of the first ‘Avengers’ film.
Scarlett, 33, is reported to have pushed Cate’s credentials, having been impressed with her handling of the female-led historical drama ‘Lore’.

David Dastmalchian hails Denis Villeneuve ‘greatest filmmaker of our time’

OHMYGOSSIP — David Dastmalchian has hailed Denis Villeneuve one of the “greatest filmmakers of our time” after working with him on ‘Dune’.
The 34-year-old actor stars in the sci-fi epic – a new adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name – and has revealed that the filmmaker just “brings so much” to the project and he is “grateful and excited” to be part of his “vision”.
Speaking to Cinema Blend, Dastmalchian said: “I’m so grateful and excited to be a part of Denis’ vision. I think that he is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time and any time, and I believe what he’s going to do here, it’s just going to take people to a whole other place.
“He brings so much. When you think about ‘Arrival’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’ specifically, because those are the two science fiction films that he’s crafted. You see his gift for telling stories that are visually stunning, but that are also rooted in really complex ideas and really fascinating characters.”
‘Dune’ – which is considered a sci-fi literary classic – tells the complex story of a fallen noble family’s attempt to control a desert planet named Arrakis and its export, a rare drug called melange – also known as “the spice” – which if taken can extend life, improve health and bestow limited prescience. Melange is also vital to space travel and the most sought after commodity in the universe.
‘Bird Box’ star Dastmalchian plays Piter De Vries – played by Brad Dourif in David Lynch’s 1984 film – a Mentat human who serves the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard) and is addicted to the spice.
De Vries is a human who is specially trained to perform mental functions rivalling the computers that are forbidden in this universe.
The movie boasts an incredible cast that includes Josh Brolin, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista and Rebecca Ferguson among others.
‘Dune’ will be split into two films and the first instalment – which will be based on the first half of the novel – is set for release on November 20, 2020.

Gregg Wallace would consider having more kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregg Wallace wants another baby with wife Anne-Marie Wallace.
The loved up couple recently welcomed their first son Sid into the world, and the ‘MasterChef’ star – who already has Tom and Libby from his marriage to Denise Wallace – admitted he wont rule out the possibility of becoming a father again in the future.
Asked about the possibility of having another child, Gregg told ITV’s ‘Loose Women’: “We said only one, but honestly now…”
The 54-year-old chef admitted he has had to give it some serious thought because by the time his newborn baby turns 20, he’ll be in his mid 70s.
He added: “Well, I did say to Anna I wasn’t sure because by the time you’re my age, normally your children have grown up and you can have time with your wife again. I’m going to be in my 70s when Sid’s 20.”
However, Gregg revealed he has the support of his wife’s family from Italy – with his mother-in-law currently living them and his father-in-law on his way – and his own son John has offered his support.
He also explained how the family dynamic will work, with Anne-Marie looking after the baby at home while he continues to work.
He said: “My wife is very, very old fashioned and we had a chat about what our role were going to be when the baby came along. It was decided that I’m the provider and I should stay providing.
“I’m not arguing the pluses and minuses, and it works really well. That was it, it was decided that I should carry on working.”
Anne-Marie fell pregnant with their child last summer, shortly before the pair were due to start treatment to help them conceive after having spent years trying for a baby of their own.
When they announced they were expecting, Gregg said: “We were due to start IVF but then it happened naturally after two years of trying. The doctor told us it was a miracle Anna was pregnant.”

James Arthur says X Factor gives great support to contestants

OHMYGOSSIP — James Arthur has heaped praise on ‘The X Factor’ for taking care of him behind the scenes.
The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker – who won the ITV singing competition almost seven years ago – has wholeheartedly defended the show after 2015 champion Louisa Johnson said she struggled with fame and her experience, and he revealed how the team helped him during a “horrid time” as he tried to get used to living life in the spotlight.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I went through a horrid time and they looked after me really well. I don’t know how well a TV show can care for its cast members after they’ve come off the show.
“I think we should encourage people to speak up more, rather than put the blame on other people. Myself and Louisa [Johnson, who won in 2015], we come from humble beginnings and we are catapulted into fame and that is a traumatic thing to go through whether it’s good or bad.
“You need a level of counselling after something like that and that’s something I didn’t do until three or four years after ‘X Factor’ but when I did take it upon myself to do it I felt better for it.”
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old star previously made it clear he’d love to return to the show and “get involved” as a member of the judging panel.
He said: “I’d love to get involved but I wouldn’t want to be a contestant. I’m still signed to a record label so I don’t think it would be right for me to take part in that way, but I’d definitely be up for helping out in some way.”
And when asked if he’d be a judge, he added: “Yes I’d love to do that. If they want a really honest judge then I’d be more than happy to do it.”

She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “She’s a very beloved character.

She continued: “I had to sometimes pull myself back and take a deep breath and go, ‘OK, she’s just a person. She’s just a human being.’ But it was a thrill. And to get to sit with her and talk about the script and work through scenes, it was just like, ‘Are you kidding me?’
“As an actor, all my life worshipping her work, and she’s just as truthful and honest and genuine and fun-loving as you can imagine.”

Rachael Stirling says working with teenage crush Rob Lowe was ‘unreal’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachael Stirling says starring opposite Rob Lowe was “unreal” because he was her teenage crush.
The 42-year-old actress gets intimate with the 55-year-old actor in new ITV police drama ‘Wild Bill” and admitted she was very starstruck when they met as she and her friends used to fancy him when they were at boarding school together.
Rachael told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It didn’t seem quite real. Bearing in mind, I was at an all-girls… boarding school, and one of the only films we were allowed to watch was ‘St Elmo’s Fire’.
“You had 500 girls who every weekend on a Saturday would watch it again and again. Rob was all of our heart-throbs.”
And the ‘Boy Meets Girl’ actress – who is the daughter of Dame Diana Rigg and has a two-year-old son Jack with her husband Guy Garvey – said her school pals were incredibly jealous when they found out she was acting opposite the hunk.
She said: “My best friend said, ‘Get the f**k out of here.’ She could not believe it.”
Rachael also revealed she came clean to Rob about her secret crush which made him howl “with laughter”, and she joked “he didn’t seem that surprised, to be honest”.
‘Wild Bill’ stars Rob as American policeman Bob Hixon who moves to the UK and Rachael plays his love interest, barrister and judge Mary Harbour QC.
And the television star is delighted about playing a strong female character in the show who objectifies Rob and embraces her sexuality.
She explained: “She starts off thinking he’s a piece of eye candy and probably good for a gallop. I get to objectify Rob Lowe a lot.”
And commenting on their first love scene together, in which her character leaves the bedroom first, she said: “I’m just leaving, fully clothed, and he’s lying there with his pretty glorious pecs on display. I like that.
“There’s always more room for girls to be the ones doing the wham, bam, thank you, sir.”

AJ Pritchard’s brother joins Love Island 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Pritchard’s older brother will be joining the ‘Love Island’ villa next week.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional has proved that his good looks run in the family as his older Curtis Pritchard, 23, has been scouted for the ITV2 dating show and will be entering the love shack in a few days’ time to steal the nation’s heart.
But it’s not all about his handsome looks and flawless body, as Curtis has the moves too as he is a professional dancer on ‘Dancing With the Stars Ireland’.
He said: “I’m going to be me. I don’t have to act like anything, I don’t have to teach anyone how to dance, like my normal job! I can just be myself and have fun.”
And he’s not the only one with a famous brother as Tyson Fury’s 20-year-old sibling Tommy has been recruited for the forthcoming series in Majorca, Spain.
He said: “At the end of the day, if I see someone in there that I like that I feel I could have a connection with, I’ll try and pursue that without being an idiot to the other islanders. I’ll do the right thing at the right time and make my opinions known.”
Also gracing screens this year is a 28-year-old pharmacist called Anna Vakili from London, who is hoping to bag a “soppy” guy who’s tall, dark and handsome.
She said: “I don’t know if he exists! He would be tall, good- looking, dark hair and dark eyes. He would be fit. Personality wise, he would be loyal, kind and emotional. I like the soppy guys. I’m not into cocky boys at all, I like smart and funny.”
And there will no doubt be some squabbling this year as Joe Garratt, a catering company owner, isn’t afraid to get in with a girl who is already paired up.
The 22-year-old hunk explained: “I’ve always said that love is a super powerful thing. If I genuinely feel that connection, the chance for love, then I’ll go leaps and bounds to get that… All is fair in love and war.”
But there will be no fighting for cabin crew manager Amy Hart as she’s a strong believer in the “girl code” and is hoping to come away with a few new pals.
The 26-year-old beauty said: “I’m going there to find ‘the one’ but I’m also going there to have an amazing summer and meet amazing friends as well.”
A 20-year-old semi-professional rugby player called Sherif Lanre is keen to lighten the mood with his upbeat personality.
He said: “I lift anyone’s mood who is around me, whether that is through trying or not. I feel like if you’re down and around me, you’ll end up being a bit more upbeat. I don’t like to get into conflicts, I would rather spare someone’s feelings.”
And he may have already met his humorous match as 21-year-old Amber Gill – a beauty therapist – is adamant she is able to make people laugh with ease.
She explained: “I’ve got a big personality and I get on with people really well. People think I’m funny. I don’t take myself too seriously and I’m always up for a laugh.”
Lucie Donlan – a 21-year-old surfer from Newquay – already has the upper hand as she has spoken to former ‘TOWIE’ star Joey Essex “on and off.”
The cast also includes a 28-year-old aircraft engineer called Callum MacLeod, a 27-year-old fire fighter called Michael Griffiths, a 23-year-old scientist called Yewande Biala and a 24-year-old gym owner called Anton Danyluk.

Last Tango in Halifax to get new series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Last Tango In Halifax’ is getting a four-part series in 2020.
The BBC comedy-drama series stars Sir Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid as Alan and Celia, a pair of childhood sweethearts who are now in their 70s, and fall in love after reuniting through Facebook.
And after the show – which was created by Sally Wainwright – was last seen on screens for a two-episode Christmas special back in 2016, it is now set to make a reappearance for four more episodes, which will air in 2020.
Radio Times broke the news after BBC Director of Content Charlotte Moore confirmed the new series, which is yet to have a firm release date.
The new episodes come after Derek Jacobi previously threw cold water over rumours of another series, as he claimed Sally Wainwright was too busy writing other shows, such as ‘Happy Valley’ and new series ‘Gentleman Jack’.
He said: “She’s writing so many things. She’s a wonderful writer, but she’s got so much work that Tango is finished. It’s very sad, we all loved it.”
But even at the time, the BBC kept the flame alive by responding to Derek’s claims and saying: “Sally is presently engaged with another BBC project, but has every intention of revisiting ‘Last Tango’ when she is able to.”
And earlier this month, Sally herself teased more episodes of the show, although at the time the news had not been “officially announced”.
She said: “It’s not been officially announced that we’re doing any more ‘Last Tango’ – but I’m writing the third episode at the moment.”
‘Last Tango in Halifax’ also starred Sarah Lancashire as Cecila’s daughter Caroline and Nicola Walker as Gillian, Alan’s daughter. A supporting cast was made up of Nina Sosanya, Tony Gardner, Ronni Ancona, Dean Andrews, Sacha Dhawan, and Josh Bolt.
As of the time of writing, it’s not know which members of the cast will be returning for the new episodes.

Liam Neeson cast in The Great Game

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Neeson has reportedly joined the cast of ‘The Great Game’.
The 66-year-old actor is believed to have been lined up for a role in the upcoming prequel to the ‘Kingsman’ franchise, which is due out next February.
Liam will reportedly play Herbert Kitchener in the prequel movie, who was a real life senior British Army officer and colonial administrator who won notoriety for his imperial campaigns.
The report was first made by Deadline in an article which highlighted some of the plot details from the third instalment of director Matthew Vaughn’s main ‘Kingsman’ series, currently known as ‘Kingsman 3’.
‘Kingsman 3’ – the followup to 2014’s ‘The Secret Service’ and 2017’s ‘The Golden Circle’ – is believed to be wrapping up the saga of Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (played by Taron Egerton) and Harry Hart (Colin Firth).
Director Vaughn said: “We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship. The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year.”
The third instalment was supposed to come out in November of this year, but after Vaughn and Egerton teamed up for Sir Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’, filming was pushed back to allow room in their busy schedules.
Vaughn added to Digital Spy: “As Taron was saying, he’s looking forward to becoming Eggsy again, because emotionally it’s a lot less draining.”
As of the time of writing, ‘Kingsman 3’ has no release date, but Vaughn is now working on ‘The Great Game’ – which is also set to star Harris Dickinson – for a February 2020 release.

Ridley Scott to direct third Alien prequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott is returning to the ‘Alien’ franchise to helm a third prequel.
The 81-year-old director launched the blockbuster sci-fi horror franchise with the first ‘Alien’ movie in 1979, and to mark the 40th anniversary of the film Scott has revealed he is currently writing a script for another backstory project.
The filmmaker has admitted he jumped at the chance to work on the new prequel.
He told Variety: “They sent me a script and I read it. I loved it.
“I was in Hollywood within 32 hours.”
More information is yet to be revealed at this time.
Although the first movie made $104 million at the box office worldwide and was the six highest-grossing movie of that year, Scott left the franchise, with the 1986 sequel being helmed by James Cameron, the third, released in 1992, by David Fincher and Jean -Pierre Jeunet stepped up to the role for 1997’s ‘Alien Resurrection’.
Sigourney Weaver played heroine Ellen Ripley in the original flick and three subsequent sequels and was also co-producer for ‘Alien 3’.
In 2003, Scott returned to head up an alternate version of the 1979 original which was shorter as he felt the original was too long.
He went on to helm the two direct prequels; 2012’s ‘Prometheus’ and 2017’s ‘Alien: Covenant’.
Meanwhile, Scott and Weaver recently praised students at North Bergen High School in New Jersey for putting on ‘Alien: The Play’.
The teenagers created a social media storm when clips from their stage production of the acclaimed film were posted onto Twitter by the play’s director, English teacher Perfecto Cuervo, with the videos quickly going viral.
The astonishing effort was noticed by Scott who sent a letter to the drama department commending everybody’s efforts.
Scott wrote: “My hat comes off to all of you for all your creativity, imagination and determination to produce such an ambitious show. Thanks for doing Alien, I felt very complimented.”
Weaver also saw the footage of the play and posted a video on the official ‘Alien’ Twitter account in which she congratulated all the students on their achievement and passed on a message of praise from James Cameron, who directed the first sequel ‘Aliens’.
In the video, the 69-year-old actress said: “I saw a bit of your production of ‘Alien’. I just want to say it looked incredible. You put so much heart and soul into that and the alien, I must say, looked very real to me.
“I just want to send our compliments, not only from me, but from James Cameron and the original screenwriter, Walter Hill. We all say bravo, well done. And just one more thing – you know, the alien might still be around. So when you’re opening your locker, just do it very slowly.”
The school’s play stayed close to the plot of the original movie which tells the story of the crew on the commercial starship Nostromo who, after answering a distress call, unwittingly bring a dangerous extra-terrestrial lifeform on board.
They then must find a way to survive as the deadly Xenomorph begins hunting them one-by-one.

Krupa Pattini confirms Midsomer Murders cameo after Hollyoaks exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Krupa Pattani has already filmed a ‘Midsomer Murders’ cameo after confirming her ‘Hollyoaks’ exit.
The soap star’s character Farrah Maalik bowed out on Monday (27.05.19) after she was dumped by Grace Black (Tamara Wall), but the actress has already shot scenes for the hit TV drama as she looks ahead in her career.
She told RadioTimes.com: “I’ve already done an episode of ‘Midsomer Murders’ which is coming up soon.
“I just want to keep working on screen, I’ve been lucky enough to get a lot of opportunities over the last few years and hope that continues.”
Krupa revealed the time was right for her to leave the soap after two year, and she felt “ready” to try out other roles.
She explained: “I’ve had such an amazing time on this show and have learned so much from amazing people, but I just want to try different things.
“It was a decision between me and Bryan (Kirkwood, executive producer) really: it was sort of coming to an end anyway and I was ready to pursue new projects.”
And although she admitted she wouldn’t turn down a part in another soap, the actress insisted she has a loyalty to ‘Hollyoaks’.
She added: “I would never say no: if it was a good opportunity then of course I’d be very interested and consider it. But I won’t lie, I do feel loyal to ‘Hollyoaks!’ ”
Krupa’s emotional exit saw Farrah’s girlfriend Grace break off their relationship after she was manipulated by her own brother Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) as he tries to hide his involvement in her car crash.

Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins was ‘nervous’ about difficult storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Isabel Hodgins was “nervous” about her ‘Emmerdale’ sexual assault storyline.
The star’s character Victoria Barton is pregnant after she was raped in her own room by a man she’d just met after a night out, and the actress hopes to encourage people to speak out through her portrayal of the horrific events.
She told the Daily Star: “I was nervous when I was first told about this storyline, because it’s a big story and I wanted to do it justice, especially for all the women and men that have been raped.
“In earlier scenes following the attack, Victoria acts like a hermit and shuts herself away. It means that by the time she is convinced to tell the police about it, it’s too late to do a physical examination. This might help people realise that there’s a window for your best chance of prosecution.
“You need to come forward and have an examination so the police can collect all the evidence they can, which would give you a stronger case in court. I hope this will encourage other victims to come forward if something similar has happened to them.”
Meanwhile Isabel, 25, revealed she has been allowed input in the storyline itself, despite finding it difficult getting “into the mindset”.
She added: “It’s been so tough getting myself into the mindset, but director Mike Lacey, who films all the flashback stuff, spoke to me on the phone and we worked together.
“He’d ask me what I thought about things, and when I said ‘I don’t think that would have happened’ he listened to me, so it has been very creative. I have really enjoyed that aspect of it.”

Deadpool could appear in the next Spider-Man film

OHMYGOSSIP — Deadpool might appear in the third ‘Spider-Man’ movie.
Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox earlier this year, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that Ryan Reynolds foul-mouthed “merc with a mouth” would soon be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The duo were confident that some of the biggest movies and stories in the universe would soon overlap and it is now believed that the hero could appear in Tom Holland’s third Spider-Man movie.
According to fan sight MCU Cosmic, Marvel bosses have been considering a the possibility of adding Deadpool to the follow-up to the forthcoming ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ following the pair teaming up for a series of Marvel comics which launched in 2016 and are still being published.
The cross-pollination of different movie franchises and characters is seen as one of the key features of the Disney/Fox merger and bosses are also reportedly considering giving the hero a third stand-alone movie and his own series on the highly-anticipated Disney+ streaming service.
‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ will now hit screens on Tuesday July 2.
The upcoming blockbuster will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s third and final film of 2019 following the releases of ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Willem Dafoe backs Robert Pattinson for Batman

OHMYGOSSIP — Willem Dafoe has backed Robert Pattinson to play Batman because he has a “strong chin”.
Pattinson, 33, is reportedly one of the frontrunners to play The Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming film ‘The Batman’ and the 63-year-old actor thinks his ‘The Lighthouse’ co-star would be a perfect fit for the part.
Speaking on Variety’s ‘The Big Ticket’ podcast he said: “He’s got a strong chin. That’s a part of it. Can you imagine anyone with a weak chin ever playing Batman? I don’t think so.”
Dafoe has a strong comic book movie pedigree having played the Green Goblin in 2002 movie ‘Spider-Man’ and Nuidis Vulko in 2018 DC Extended Universe film ‘Aquaman’.
The 63-year-old actor appears alongside ‘Twilight’ actor Pattinson in 2019 fantasy horror film ‘The Lighthouse’, directed by Robert Eggers, which won the International Federation of Film Critics Award at Cannes Film Festival 2019.
Pre-production on ‘The Batman’, coming from Warner Bros. and DC Films, is expected to kick off this summer ahead of a June 2021 release.
As well as Pattinson, Armie Hammer is also one of the favourites for the role of Batman.
Reeves took over ‘The Batman’ directing duties from Ben Affleck – who also stepped down from playing the titular character in January after appearances in DC Extended Universe films ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Justice League’ – and he will produce the motion picture with Dylan Clark.
Should Pattinson land the coveted role he will be the latest in a long line of huge stars to take on the iconic part.
Michael Keaton received critical acclaim for his outings in the cape and cowl in 1989’s ‘Batman’ and 1992’s ‘Batman Returns’ – both of which were directed by Tim Burton – and he was followed by Val Kilmer and George Clooney who played Bruce Wayne and his masked alter ego in ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman & Robin’ respectively.
Christian Bale took on the role for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy.

Corrie’s Michelle Connor set for wedding day heartbreak

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Connor will find out Robert Preston has got another woman pregnant on their wedding day.
The final storyline for ‘Coronation Street’ actress Kym Marsh will see her leave the soap in dramatic fashion after discovering Robert’s (Tristan Gemmill) fling with Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn), and the revelation is reportedly set to put her exit in motion.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “This fling takes place while Michelle and Robert temporarily split up, then when they’re reunited they decide to have a secret wedding, by inviting guests on the premise it’s for his 50th birthday.
“But Vicky reveals she is pregnant with his baby, which poses a real dilemma for him as he has always wanted to be a father.
