Willem Dafoe backs Robert Pattinson for Batman

OHMYGOSSIP — Willem Dafoe has backed Robert Pattinson to play Batman because he has a “strong chin”.
Pattinson, 33, is reportedly one of the frontrunners to play The Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming film ‘The Batman’ and the 63-year-old actor thinks his ‘The Lighthouse’ co-star would be a perfect fit for the part.
Speaking on Variety’s ‘The Big Ticket’ podcast he said: “He’s got a strong chin. That’s a part of it. Can you imagine anyone with a weak chin ever playing Batman? I don’t think so.”
Dafoe has a strong comic book movie pedigree having played the Green Goblin in 2002 movie ‘Spider-Man’ and Nuidis Vulko in 2018 DC Extended Universe film ‘Aquaman’.
The 63-year-old actor appears alongside ‘Twilight’ actor Pattinson in 2019 fantasy horror film ‘The Lighthouse’, directed by Robert Eggers, which won the International Federation of Film Critics Award at Cannes Film Festival 2019.
Pre-production on ‘The Batman’, coming from Warner Bros. and DC Films, is expected to kick off this summer ahead of a June 2021 release.
As well as Pattinson, Armie Hammer is also one of the favourites for the role of Batman.
Reeves took over ‘The Batman’ directing duties from Ben Affleck – who also stepped down from playing the titular character in January after appearances in DC Extended Universe films ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Justice League’ – and he will produce the motion picture with Dylan Clark.
Should Pattinson land the coveted role he will be the latest in a long line of huge stars to take on the iconic part.
Michael Keaton received critical acclaim for his outings in the cape and cowl in 1989’s ‘Batman’ and 1992’s ‘Batman Returns’ – both of which were directed by Tim Burton – and he was followed by Val Kilmer and George Clooney who played Bruce Wayne and his masked alter ego in ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman & Robin’ respectively.
Christian Bale took on the role for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy.

Toby Stephens says he is ‘definitely’ British

OHMYGOSSIP — Toby Stephens says he is “definitely” British despite having spent lots of time working in America.
The 50-year-old Londoner recently starred in the American science fiction television series ‘Lost in Space’ but says he will always identify with his roots despite the fact he thinks the UK is becoming close-minded.
When asked by the Metro newspaper if he “felt British”, Toby said: “Yes, definitely British. But you can’t help but be troubled by what’s going on and where it will all end.
“I thought I was part of some sort of open, forward-thinking society and then it turns out that I’m living among a lot of people who don’t think like that.
“You have to accept that, though. I’m not about to become American — it’s not much different there, in any case!”
And the ‘Black Sails’ star – who has children Eli, 11, Kura, 8, and Tallulah, 10, with his wife Anna-Louise Plowman – admitted that as he has got older he has taken on more jobs for money because he knows he has to be realistic and support his family.
He added: “I think I imagined that by 50 I’d get to do a load of different jobs. But, to be honest, the last ten or 11 years it’s been all about paying the bills — that’s what happens when you have kids, that’s a massive motivation.
“But then you start to think, ‘Hey, there’s only a certain amount of time left to do what I want to do.’ So it’s great when you get the chance to be doing something that’s more grown up.”
Toby also opened up about the upcoming series of ‘Summer of Rockets’ in which he stars alongside Keeley Hawes, Linus Roache and Timothy Spall.
The hunk portrays hearing aids inventor Samuel Petrukhin and said he was drawn to the empathetic character.
He said: “I thought that was part of what makes him such a wonderful character. He’s based on Stephen’s grandfather and it is in part biographical.
“He ran a factory that was full of deaf workers and I loved his pragmatic approach. He just saw them as good workers, he wasn’t bogged down in some kind of social project.”
‘Summer Of Rockets’ continues on BBC2 on Wednesdays at 9pm.

Ghosts back for second season

OHMYGOSSIP — BBC One comedy ‘Ghosts’ will be back for a second series.
The 2019 sitcom starred Charlotte Ritchie (Alison) and Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Mike) as a couple who inherit a sprawling but crumbling mansion called Button Hall and after being thrown out of a window from the property by a ghost that haunts the house Alison returns to find that her bump on the head means she can see and speak to all the spirits that inhabit the home.
Following a positive response to the first six episodes, ‘Ghosts’ has been commissioned for another run.
Co-creator Mathew Baynton said: “We are dead excited to be returning to BBC One for a second series of ‘Ghosts’.
“We could not have asked for a more enthusiastic response to the show, and can’t wait to get haunting Button House once again. We’d like to thank Charlotte, Kiell, Lolly [Adefope], Katy [Wix] and our fantastic crew for helping us realise such a hugely ambitious project. And thanks also to everyone at Monumental and the BBC for their tireless support of what is clearly a ridiculous idea. We are already hard at work on stories for series two, and can’t wait to share them with you.”
The BBC controller of comedy commissioning Shane Allen insists the reason why the first season was such a success is because the writing was superb.
He said: “‘Ghosts’ gave us all a very pleasant shock in landing so fully formed as an instant mainstream hit.
“This very special gang of writer/performers have created a rich character world shot through with their trademark wit, warmth and mischief.”
Baynton penned the programme along with Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond and Martha Howe-Douglas.
‘Ghosts’ Series One attracted an average audience of 3.6 million viewers in its 9.30pm time slot.
Baynton – who played multiple roles in CBBC show ‘Horrible Histories’ – always believed the comedy would attract younger viewers even in its later schedule slot, because older kids would seek it out.
He said: “I think older kids are not interested in things they think are meant to be for them. Having a show on that is technically not for them only makes them want to watch it and parents can look at it and judge.”

Caroline Flack wants Love Island stars to take it slow after leaving the villa

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Flack has urged ‘Love Island’ couples not to rush their relationship after leaving the villa.
Last year, Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham moved in together, with Megan Barton-Hanson and Wes Nelson also trying to take the next step, but both couples have since broken up and the dating show’s host has advised potential stars to “start again” with their romance once the programme is over.
She told the Mirror: “Don’t put too much pressure on your relationship. Don’t worry about being one step ahead of other couples, don’t jump into moving in together too quickly.
“Once you’re out of the villa, start again, start dating, start taking it slowly. Just enjoy it. There is no point rushing.”
Caroline, 39, also admitted she finds it hard to be impartial towards the hopeful romantics.
She explained: “You want to say, ‘I’m on your side!’ But I have to be professional.”
Meanwhile, the presenter recently defended the show following the tragic deaths of Mike Thalassitis, 26 and Sophie Gradon, 32, after some viewers called for the programme to be axed.
She previously said: “The show is a journey of love and emotions that everyone can relate to and learn from. We are a feelgood show.
“When something becomes popular there seems to be a desire to pull it to pieces and over-analyse it. This is about young singletons having fun, getting to know each other, in an amazing villa in the Spanish sun.”
Caroline claimed the team give “first-class care” to stars “before and after” their time on the island, and suggested the issues go much further than the ITV2 dating show.
She added: “There is a spotlight on reality TV shows at the moment but sadly this is a global problem we are dealing with; a modern-day life for all that is becoming overwhelming.
“We need to stop blaming speculating without the facts. As a human race we all need to come together, communicate, open up, express ourselves, be kind and be understanding of what all of us are dealing with on a daily basis.”

John Thomson to host new show Zone of Champions with Jessica Knappett

OHMYGOSSIP — John Thomson and Jessica Knappett are to front new comedy show ‘Zone of Champions’.
The ‘Cold Feet’ actor will star alongside the ‘Inbetweeners’ actress as broadcasters Jack Bullman and Nicky Brimble respectively in the upcoming ITV clip show, which will feature hilarious shots from the weird and wonderful world of sports.
John, 50, is quoted by The Daily Star newspaper as saying: “I’m always amazed at what is captured on camera. There are some real belters.”
The channel describe the six-part series as a show where viewers will “see anything from a horse playing football to escalator racing pensioners – all in the guise of epic sporting contests”.
And ITV think the two stars – who will be presenting from the state-of-the-art ‘Zone of Champions’ news studio – have amazing comedic chemistry that will bring the show to life.
Ben Kelly, Commissioner, Entertainment at ITV said: “It’s a real pleasure to have John and Jess providing the comedic glue to this assortment of sports that don’t look like sports, but totally are sports.
“If you’ve ever wanted to see the finals of the world’s angriest goose competition or advanced canine gymnastics (regional heats) then ‘Zone of Champions’ is the place for you.”
And executive producer Tim Allsop said that fans will be pleased to finally shown a light-hearted look at unique sporting events which will entertain them on Saturday nights.
He added: “For too long television has overlooked the sporting events that the fans really want to see. Luckily ITV has come to its senses and I’m proud to be bringing the group stages of semi-professional Sheep Rugby back to where it belongs. Saturday nights.”

Karen Gillan compared to Daniel Day-Lewis

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Gillan has been compared to Daniel Day-Lewis.
David Dastmalchian appears alongside his fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star in new movie ‘All Creatures Here Below’ – which he also wrote – and he has heaped praise on the actress for her “chameleon-like talents”.
Speaking to Cinemablend, he said: “I think [Karen] is our Daniel Day-Lewis. I really do. I feel like she’s got the ability and works very hard, but beyond just her work ethic, she’s one of the most chameleon-like talents I’ve ever witnessed firsthand, and it’s really mind-blowing what she can do with her face, her body, her voice.
“So the fact that she wanted to come be in our tiny, no-budget movie… the fact that she came and gave that performance, it’s so humbling. I’ll be grateful for that performance for the rest of my life that she brought that character to life so beautifully.”
Meanwhile, Karen has also been looking ahead to working on the third ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film, and she previously admitted she was “so happy” when she discovered director James Gunn had been re-hired after he was fired by Disney following a series of controversial tweets which resurfaced.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star insists it is the correct decision as it just “wouldn’t be the same movie” without him.
She said: “I was so happy because it truly feels like we’re part of this little family on ‘Guardians’. And to have your leader ripped away from you is a really weird feeling. I feel that it wouldn’t be the same type of ‘Guardians’ movie without him. So much of it is his personality.
“The sense of humour, his taste in music, the characters – there’s so much of him in there, so that would have been quite a strange sensation to make it without him. We were just so happy when he came back. It feels like everything’s as it should be now.”
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ is due to start shooting in 2020 once Gunn has completed filming on the follow-up to DC Extended Universe movie ‘Suicide Squad’.

Natasha Kaplinsky ‘incapacitated by tears’ after horrific boat accident

OHMYGOSSIP — Natasha Kaplinsky was “incapacitated by tears” after her horrific boat accident.
The 46-year-old newsreader nearly lost her life whilst on holiday in Corfu last year, when a leak in the fuel pipe of a boat she had hired caused the vehicle to explode while she and her family were on-board, leaving her nine-year-old daughter Angelica with facial burns.
Natasha has now admitted that before undergoing eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing treatment (EMDR), to try and help her recover from the psychological trauma of the accident, she had blamed herself for the explosion and “couldn’t bear” to see her daughter “suffering so much”.
In an interview with The Times newspaper, she said: “I felt it was our fault, we shouldn’t have been on that boat. I couldn’t bear to see our daughter suffering so much. I was incapacitated by tears. I just couldn’t get a grip. The treatment sounded ludicrous, but after just a few sessions I was able to function again.”
The broadcaster – who also has 10-year-old son Arlo with her husband Justin Bower – went on to explain that prior to her treatment, the memory of her family on the ship “wouldn’t leave” her mind.
She said: “I was on a burning boat with everybody I loved, my parents, my husband, my children. I couldn’t leave that memory. It wouldn’t leave me. It felt biblical.”
Natasha had previously recorded an episode of BBC’s ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ where she discovered the majority of father’s Jewish ancestors had been massacred by the Nazis, leading her to become part of Britain’s new Holocaust Commission where she interviewed 112 of the last Holocaust survivors.
She said: “The majority of my father’s family were burnt alive in a synagogue. So I felt like I was on a mission.”
Speaking of testimonies she’s heard, she said: “That was horror. I’m very aware that people go through far worse, where people don’t live.”
Natasha revealed that she felt compelled to speak about her ordeal after hearing the hours of testimony as well as her own family’s story.
She said: “It unleashed the heartache that I stored inside.”

Craig Revel Horwood told new Strictly judge is ‘someone that can dance’

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood has been told the new ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge is “someone that can actually dance” – but he doesn’t know their identity.
The 54-year-old star was left “shocked” when he found out that Dame Darcey Bussell was quitting the BBC ballroom competition and admits he will miss his pal on the judging panel.
Craig has been given a clue as to who will be joining him and fellow judges Bruno Tonioli and Shirley Ballas on the next series but bosses won’t share the person’s identity to him as he can’t be trusted to keep a secret.
In an interview on ITV daytime show ‘This Morning’ on Monday (28.05.18), he said: “They did say it’s someone that can actually dance, it’s got to be someone opinionated.”
When co-host and former ‘Strictly’ contestant Ruth Langsford asked if her former professional partner Anton du Beke could be in the frame, Craig replied: “Anton would be great, any of the ex-dancers would be great. But they won’t tell me, apparently I can’t be trusted!”
Speaking about how much he will miss sitting next to Darcey, 50, on the show, he added: “I was shocked, because I didn’t know that was going to happen. I had an inkling from the tour. She’s one of my best mates.”
Although Craig was happy to back ‘Strictly’ stalwart Anton to be a judge he thinks former pro James Jordan has no chance of making a comeback on the panel, as opposed to the ballroom floor.
When ‘This Morning’ co-host Eamonn Holmes enquired as to whether James – who had a number rows on the series before quitting in 2013 – could be in the running, Craig witheringly replied: “That’s unlikely, darling!”
When it was put to Craig by Eamonn – who is married to Ruth – that James may be more entertaining than him, the long-time judge simply shook his head.
During his interview, Craig did spill one change to the ‘Strictly’ format this year, revealing that all the judges will be required to dance with the contestants and be scored by their peers one week.
The idea comes from ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in the US and Australia – the latter on which Craig has acted as a judge.
He said: “This year is going to be very interesting, they’re taking a leaf out of the Australian version, ‘Dancing with the Stars’, the judges will be dancing. We’ll be dancing with the contestants. I did it in Australia, I did it with Courtney Act and I loved it, being able to choreograph a routine and then be judged. It was such great fun. As everyone knows I’m up for absolutely anything.”

Tom Hardy tipped for new real-life SAS drama by Peaky Blinders writer

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hardy is being eyed to take on the lead role in a new real-life SAS series by the creator of ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The 41-year-old actor is in the running for the upcoming television drama – which is based on the bestselling book ‘SAS: Rogue Heroes’ by Ben Macintyre – which has been created by writer Steven Knight.
Steven told The Times newspaper: “This will be a secret history telling the story of exceptional soldiers who decided battles and won wars only to then disappear back into the shadows.
“We will shine a light on remarkable true events informed by the people who shaped them.”
Hardy played Jewish gangster Alfie Solomons in the 60-year-old screenwriter’s hit BBC show ‘Peaky Blinders’, which starred Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby – the leader of a gang who are based on the Peaky Blinders, a real 19th century youth gang who ran riot in Belfast in the early twentieth century.
The upcoming show is produced by Endemol Shine drama banner Kudos, and the company are delighted that the acclaimed writer will be helming the series.
Martin Haines, joint Managing Director for Kudos, said: “The sheer scale of the adventures brilliantly told by Ben, and the extraordinary and varied characters involved, make this an incredibly exciting project. With Steven on board we have the opportunity to redefine the genre completely.”
Kudos’ Karen Wilson added: “Steven is the perfect writer to bring this incredibly rich and powerful story to life. Imagine the men at the heart of this story being drawn with the same colour, character and compassion as the iconic characters which feature across Steven’s work and you get a sense of the huge potential of this project.”

Shirley Ballas: Strictly fans will be delighted with new judge

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas has teased that ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fans will be “absolutely delighted” with the new judge.
The 58-year-old star – who heads up the panel of the hit BBC One show along with Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli – hinted the new judge who will replace Dame Darcey Bussell will definitely be a “perfect” fit for the show” as it appears they have already been chosen.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Tuesday (28.05.19), she spilled: “Well I know that whoever the BBC are going to choose will be absolutely perfect for the show. I am sure there will be lots of surprises this series.
“We have a new Executive Producer, we have Rylan [Clark-Neal] on ‘It Takes Two’ and we are getting a new judge.
“Although for me, Darcey was like my queen. That lady held my hand the whole time and I have never laughed so much with another woman in all my life. She was amazing and she will be sorely missed for sure.”
Teasing the retired ballerina’s replacement, she added: “I will fit with whoever they pick.
“I know they will pick the best person for the general public and to be on that show that fits in with everybody. You are all going to be absolutely delighted.”
Shirley’s comments come after fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood stated the person who will join him, Shirley and Bruno will be someone who “can actually dance.”
He said: “They did say it’s someone that can actually dance, it’s got to be someone opinionated.”
Meanwhile, Shirley – who has been married twice to Sammy Stopford and Corky Ballas – also confirmed she has started seeing someone despite having previously lost confidence with dating.
She revealed: “I did ‘Matchmaker Mountain’ [on ‘This Morning’] which gave me a little bit more encouragement … I never thought I would find anybody in my life that I cared about again.”
When asked why, she said: “Just past history and different men that you are with that gnaw away a little bit at your confidence and everything like that. So it’s more personal reasons, but yes I’ve met someone very nice and we are very happy.”

Joanna Page excited to play slots while filming Gavin and Stacey

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Page “can’t wait” to play the slot machines in Barry Island when she returns to film the Christmas special of ‘Gavin and Stacey’.
On Tuesday morning (28.05.19), James Corden and Ruth Jones – who co-wrote the hit BBC sitcom and portray Smithy and Nessa Jenkins respectively – confirmed that the show is returning to screens on Christmas Day (25.05.19) for a one-off episode, and Joanna, is just as thrilled to head down to the amusements in the Welsh seaside resort as she is about reprising her titular role as Stacey.
Alongside the script, she wrote on Instagram: “It’s happening!!! I’m so excited! Can’t wait to get on the slots down Barry again!! #gavinandstacey #christmasspecial #barryisland (sic)”
Rob Brydon – who returns as Bryn West – also expressed his excitement of the comedy coming back to BBC One after nine years.
He tweeted: “SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE!!!!!!!! (sic)”
‘Late Late Show’ host James took to Twitter on Tuesday (28.05.19) to reveal he and Ruth have been keeping the one-hour festive episode “secret for a while”.
Alongside a picture of the script, he tweeted: “Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for a while… We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day ⁦@BBCOne⁩ #GavinandStacey (sic)”
The BBC confirmed that Mathew Horne (Gavin) and Joanna (Stacey) – whose relationship is the focus of the show – and James and Ruth will be joined by returning cast members Rob, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Alison Steadman.
In a statement, James and Ruth said: “Over the last ten years we’ve talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like. And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one-hour special. We’ve loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.
“We’re so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen.”
It’s no surprise that the broadcaster jumped at the chance to bring the much-loved sitcom back for a special, as the 2010 New Year’s Day finale was viewed by a record 10.25 million viewers.
Ruth had hinted last April that the show could make a comeback after chatting about the characters with James.
The 52-year-old star caught up with the ‘Into the Woods’ star to talk about what their characters would be up to now, prompting speculation there could be a fourth series on the way.
She said at the time: “James and I were talking about this [the characters] the other day.
“I think Baby Neil, who is now probably about 11 … Nessa is training him down the slots.
“She’s training him in the art of the dodgy grabber machine and how to weight the two pences.”
‘Gavin and Stacey’ ran between 2007 and 2010.

Bindya Solanki will join Dean Gaffney for EatEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Dean Gaffney will be joined by Bindya Solanki for his ‘EastEnders’ return.
The soap star’s alter ego Robbie Jackson will return to Albert Square on Monday (03.05.19) but it’s now been confirmed on screen former flame Nita Mistry will be back the following week for a one-off return.
When Robbie returns with their son Sami, his ex-wife – and Sami’s mother – will text him telling him to enjoy their time together, but actress Bindya will be back in Walford for the first time in 16 years.
Dean, 41, will be back after his character has been spending time in India doing some “soul searching”.
Back in March, Dean revealed his character had headed to India to “right some wrongs”, and hinted that he might come back to Walford with a new love interest.
He said: “Robbie has been off in India soul-searching. He’s gone to right some wrongs, cross some T’s and dot some I’s. When he comes back, which is not too long now, is he alone, has he found love?”
And in November last year, Dean said he was desperate for Robbie to find love again after he and ex-girlfriend Donna Yates (Lisa Hammond) split up over the summer, and at the time had his sights set on Minute Mart employee Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton).
He said at the time: “Honey is good, I think Honey’s a good character because she’s kind of ditzy, a bit like Robbie. It would work well, I think.
“He had a great time with Donna, obviously, and now she’s gone he’s kind of moping around the Square. It would be nice to get a bit of love back in his life.”

Isabel Hodgins: Adam Barton can save Victoria

OHMYGOSSIP — Isabel Hodgins thinks Adam Barton can save Victoria.
The ‘Emmerdale’ star admitted it would be a “dream” if her alter ego’s husband – played by Adam Thomas – could return after a dramatic exit 14 months ago
Victoria has fallen pregnant with her rapist’s baby and the character is planning to keep the child, which has led viewers to speculate about Adam returning to be with his former flame.
She told the Daily Star: “If only! It would be the dream – everything Victoria does is so Adam will come back.
“If Adam returned to save the day, that would be cracking!”
Earlier this year, Adam admitted while he would be keen to return to the Dales at some point, it’s not on the cards anytime soon because he has “so much more” to do.
He said: “Of course, but not just yet, it’s only been a year and I feel like I’ve got so much more to learn and do.”
And after appearing on the soap for nine year, he said he may be up for following in his brother Ryan Thomas’s footsteps on the cobbles.
However, he explained: “Never say never but I didn’t leave one soap to do another soap. I left to get out there and try new things but if the right character came along I’d definitely jump on board.”
Since leaving the show, he has starred in BBC daytime drama ‘Moving On’ and is to appear in new BBC drama ‘Pitching In’, but in between shooting shows he also landed a job with a property company doing up houses and selling them on.He
previously said: “I was just at home, waiting for a phone call to do an audition – I needed something to tick me over.
“I’ve got a family to support at the end of the day, so I needed some sort of income. It’s great for my own sanity to get out there and start working.”

Chris Hemsworth almost ‘pulled out’ of Ghostbusters night before filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth almost quit Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ film the night before he was due on set.
The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star has revealed he had real concerns about the part of Kevin, a dorky receptionist, in the 2016 movie as the role was largely ad-libbed, which made him “really scared” about his first day.
However, the director was able to reassure him that it would be worthwhile taking on the job alongside the all-female ghost hunters played by Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kirstin Wiig and Leslie Jones.
Hemsworth said: “The night before I was shooting, I almost pulled out. “Three or four weeks prior, Paul [Feig, director] said to me, ‘I’m going to write up the character. Don’t worry.’ And then I got the script and nothing had changed.'”
He continued: “I was really scared walking onto that set.
“I had no real plan, so I was just feeding off of them, and I just felt ridiculous. So I used that.”
The ’12 Strong’ star – who is best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – says it was “unfortunate and disappointing” that the reboot of the 80s’ classic faced harsh criticism.
He added to Variety: “That whole period I was like, ‘What ownership do you guys have over those characters?’
“Oh, you watched the film, therefore you should have a say over where it goes?
“I thought it was very unfortunate and kind of disappointing.”
And Hemsworth soon found himself enjoying the improvisation style, as he previously admitted: “It is quite liberating. If it didn’t work, it was like ‘well it’s not my fault, you didn’t give me a script.’
“There was something quite refreshing about that rather than being given the world’s greatest script and going ‘Don’t mess it up’.
“It was nice to do that. That improvisation created such a spontaneity and organic feel.”

Dark Phoenix reshoots gave movie totally different ending

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ changed after reshoots to give the film a totally different ending.
Franchise producer Hutch Parker has revealed the team’s decision to switch the conclusion to the movie – which stars Sophie Turner as Jean Grey – which saw its release date pushed back from November 2018 to this month.
He told Digital Spy: “There was more of a cosmic story… the story ended in space in a much more significant way.
“We actually shifted that to be back on Earth, most notably, so that we can involve our main characters and see them come together.”
Parker explained that they felt the need to have Turner’s character surrounded by her “family”, which wasn’t as easy to accomplish with a space setting for the final scenes.
He said: “We wanted the family to be the thing that motivated Jean to finally embrace her identity, and finally, to allow love to be what allows her to transcend and evolve.
“But in the first iteration, they weren’t present when she’s going through a lot of the third act stuff.
“So we rejigged it so that we could dramatise the degree to which this divided family had come back together for her… that she could witness that, and, and bring [Jessica] Chastain into that sequence.”
Meanwhile, Turner herself has previously described ‘Dark Phoenix’ as “more of a “family drama” than a superhero movie as she credited writer and director Simon Kinberg with his focus on the characters.
She admitted: “I think one of the things Simon’s done with this film is he’s made it a far more character driven movie and more emotional. You know how ‘Logan’ was kind of different in style to all the other ‘Wolverine’ all the ‘X-Men’ movies and it’s kind of the same with this.
“‘Logan’ was kind of like a western style and this is more like a family drama than a superhero movie.”

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Sharon Mitchell is set to discover she is pregnant with Keanu Taylor’s baby.
The Walford matriarch – played by Albert Square legend Letitia Dean – will find out she is expecting next month, just weeks after she got jiggy with the muscly mechanic (Danny Walters), which will leave her hardman husband and Keanu’s boss Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in a furious rage.
A soap source said: “‘EastEnders’ are putting Phil and Sharon back at the heart of the show.
“In a shock twist next month Sharon discovers she’s pregnant. But there’s gonna be a ‘who’s the daddy?’ dilemma cos she romped with her toyboy lover Keanu last week so is he the dad or is Phil?
“Having discovered she’s pregnant Phil excitedly tells everyone their news, much to Sharon’s horror as she doesn’t know for sure who the dad is.”
Keanu has also been busy impregnating Phil’s daughter Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper) in recent weeks, meaning furious Phil will be even more infuriated when he finds out about the double pregnancy shock.
The source said: “Phil will go on a bloody rampage when he learns the truth, especially as Keanu has also got Phil’s daughter Louise pregnant. The randy lothario has knocked up Phil’s wife and his daughter.”
While the shock storyline looks set to result in Phil going berserk for the umpteenth time in Walford, the plot will also focus on the serious subject of Sharon becoming pregnant aged 48 and the complications which arise.
The source added to The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: “It will also raise the question of Sharon having a pregnancy so late in life and the complications that come with that.”
Keanu and Sharon embarked on an affair last year – resulting in soap super-fans dubbing their romance Sheanu – but things had cooled recently, until they got it on again earlier this month in The Arches, where he works under boss Phil.
