Asan N’Jie ‘hates’ watching himself on TV

OHMYGOSSIP — Asan N’Jie hates watching himself on TV, but finds it useful so he can make “adjustments” to his acting.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor – who is best known for portraying Ellis Chapman on the ITV soap – isn’t a big fan of seeing himself on-screen, but knows it can be worthwhile so he can “reflect” on his acting abilities.
He said: “I cringe. I hate it. I don’t think I’ll ever like watching myself on screen but I still always do it.
“I’m like, ‘No I’m not going to watch.’ Then I’m there with my mum down watching the telly.
“It’s good for an actor sometimes to just reflect on what they are doing I suppose.
“If you are on set, and you ask for a playback sometimes that is good as well so you can make slight adjustments.
“But then, it’s also good to not watch yourself so you are not in your head and feeling too self-conscious.
“So, it depends on the individual and how you feel on that moment really.”
Ellis is to suffer from panic attacks next week after being stabbed during a recent night out, and Aaron Sugden-Dingle (Danny Miller) will attempt to reassure him during a period of anxiety.
And Asan is delighted he and Danny have recently been working more closely together because he considers his co-star to be a “brilliant” performer.
He said: “Me and Danny didn’t have too many scenes together [at first]. I think writers have picked up on it and tried to spark a relationship between us both.
“Obviously Danny is a brilliant actor he knows what he’s doing. It’s a lot easier when you are with an actor like that where they are just in their element and doing what they do best.”

Brian Tyree Henry in talks to join A Quiet Place sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Tyree Henry is in talks to star in the sequel to ‘A Quiet Place’.
The 37-year-old actor – who is best known for his roles on FX series ‘Atlanta’ as well as 2018 films ‘Widows’ and ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ – has opened negotiations to join writer-and-director John Krasinski’s follow-up to the 2018 horror flick in an as-yet unknown role.
The sequel will also see Cillian Murphy join the cast as “a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit” established in the first film.
John is back on board as writer-and-director and his wife Emily Blunt will return in her role as Evelyn Abbott with Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, back as her children.
The movie follows the family in a post-apocalyptic world that has been taken over by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing.
John, 39, previously claimed that he never intended to make a sequel and was “mind-tricked” into writing his idea for the next movie.
He said: “I’ll be honest with you: I really didn’t want to do the sequel. It was never built to launch sequels, which we all knew, and the studio knew too. But also, I’m a realist.
“I know that when you have a success like this, everyone wants to make another one. I told them to go find another filmmaker and writer, and they said, ‘But don’t you have an idea?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I have a tiny idea,’ so they said, ‘OK, while we’re talking to other people, keep thinking about it’. They basically mind-tricked me into wanting to write it.”
‘A Quiet Place 2’ is scheduled for release in May 2020.

Beverley Callard missed Soap Awards to do sanding

OHMYGOSSIP — Beverley Callard missed the British Soap Awards to do some sanding.
The 62-year-old actress – who plays Liz McDonald in ‘Coronation Street’ – skipped the star-studded event at The Lowry, Salford, on Saturday (01.06.19), so she could stay at home and do some DIY.
Bev wrote on her Twitter page: “Congrats to all at the soap awards! I was sanding woodwork- lol. I hear you all had a ball! x (sic)”
The ‘Corrie’ legend previously quipped she would quit Weatherfield and spend her days doing DIY if she could afford it, and would be able to swap Liz’s famed leopard print outfits and mountains of war paint for baggy clothes and no make-up.
She said: “If I could afford it I would never go to work again, I would have no make-up on, I would wear baggy clothes.”
Beverley is such a big fan of doing jobs around her house and helping her husband out with home improvements she has booked herself on a polished plaster course.
She said: “I did labouring [on my birthday]. My husband built a chimney breast and I was his labourer.
“I was passing trowels, and emptying buckets of wood. I chipped off 600 tiles. I love it [DIY].
“I’m doing a course in polished plaster.”
Beverley’s alter-ego Liz doesn’t share her desire to wear baggy clothes, with the bubbly blonde often seen wearing skin-tight attire – much to the former ‘Emmerdale’ actress’ disgust.
She said: “Many times I get into my dressing room and think, ‘No, do I really have to wear that?’
“I’m sure the costume department go shopping for Liz and just have a laugh.
“Even if they find something nice for me I go, ‘That’s really nice,’ and then they take it in, so it doesn’t fit me and I look an absolute disaster.
“And they go, ‘Beverley, that’s great for Liz.’ ”

Amanda Holden wouldn’t want to find Phillip Schofield in her house

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden has named Phillip Schofield as one of three things she wouldn’t want to find in her house.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge has taken a cheeky swipe at the ‘This Morning’ host by comparing him to a household pest, saying she wouldn’t want to discover spiders, flies or the 57-year-old TV presenter in her abode.
When asked on her Heart FM ‘Breakfast Show’ what she wouldn’t want to find inside her home, she said: “Spiders, flies and Phillip Schofield.”
Amanda’s comment appears to fuel previous rumours there may be a feud between the pair.
The 48-year-old TV presenter was previously linked to the job of stepping in for Phillip’s regular ‘This Morning’ co-host Holly Willoughby last year while she was standing in for Ant McPartlin on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, but Rochelle Humes ended up taking on the guest presenting role.
But a rumoured feud hasn’t always been the case for the presenting pair.
In 2015, Phillip planted a peck on Amanda’s lips live on ‘This Morning’ during a cooking segment.
She was tucking into a bowl of chicken noodle soup cooked up by chef Phil Vickery when Phillip joked it looked like a scene from the classic Disney film ‘Lady and the Tramp’.
Recreating the scene, in which dogs Lady and Tramp find themselves sucking on the same piece of spaghetti while enjoying a romantic meal, Phillip grabbed the end of the noodle Amanda was eating and placed it in his mouth.
The presenters continued to eat their ends of the noodle before locking lips and giggling while Phil looked on in amusement.
Amanda previously stood in for Holly while she was away on maternity leave.

Lee Sharpe marries Lucie Gardner in Italy

OHMYGOSSIP — Lee Sharpe has got married – 14 years after looking for his perfect match on ‘Celebrity Love Island’.
The retired footballer – who appeared on the very first series of dating show in 2005 – has tied the knot with partner Lucie Gardner in an intimate ceremony on the Amalfi coast in Italy.
The loved-up couple – who share two-year-old son Leo together – first met in 2011, and the former Manchester Untied star later proposed at the Cheltenham Festival horse racing event on Ladies Day in March 2017.
On the big day, Lee wore a grey three piece suit complete with a black bow tie while Lucie stunned in a halterneck white wedding dress with a diamante waist and plunging neckline.
It was very different for the former sportsman back in 2003, when he retired from football and went on to appear on reality TV, kicking off with ‘Celebrity Wrestling’ in 2005 before joining the cast of ‘Celebrity Love Island’ the same year.
Back then, the original run of the dating show was hosted by Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook, with a host of famous faces looking for love.
However, Lee – who also tried his hand at ‘Dancing On Ice’ in 2007 – didn’t find a partner, and it was Jayne Middlemiss and Fran Cosgrave who won the series.
The programme was axed after a second season the following year, before launching a revival – featuring the general public, rather than celebrities – in 2015.
The current fifth series kicked off this week, with the likes of AJ Pritchard’s brother Curtis competing alongside boxer Tyson Fury’s sibling Tommy.

Megan Barton-Hanson likes having sex with women

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton-Hanson prefers to have sex with women.
The ‘Love Island’ 2018 finalist may have become known as a man-eater when she took part in the dating show last year but she’s revealed she would like to settle down with a woman because she has a “deeper connection” with the same sex.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “I just felt like I needed to get with a guy because society said so but after the s*** I’ve been through, I just want to see how it goes with a woman.
“I first fell in love with a girl when I was 16, but it wasn’t even in a sexual way. I never saw her just in that way, but we’d like hang out, and one thing led to another.
“We would do everything together. I found her more and more attractive, and not even the way she looked, just like the way she was in general. I just feel like I have a deeper connection with women.
“I think long-term I would get with a woman, but it’s hard. I really want kids, so that’s something I’d need to look into when the time comes.
“The last person I slept with was a man, but it was highly disappointing. That’s why I feel more compatible and comfortable with women.”
The 24-year-old beauty actually auditioned for ‘Love Island’ in 2017 but believes she was rejected because she revealed that she was bisexual.
She explained: “I was super open and said I feel like I’m more into girls, but I think that’s what put them off.”
However, when she put her name forward last year, she kept quiet about her sexual preference and, instead, just told producers that she was a stripper.
She said: “In ‘Love Island’ I already felt I had a stigma attached to me because of being a stripper. I didn’t want to like add to it by revealing I like girls as well!”

James Cracknell to do Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cracknell wants to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The rowing legend was banned from taking part in the BBC Ballroom and Latin show by his wife Beverley Turner because she didn’t want “some Russian f***y in his face” but he’s deliberating signing up to the programme later this year now that he has split from the 45-year-old television presenter.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “James has always been interested in doing some reality TV but after getting offered ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last year Beverley put her foot down. She always trusted James but she told pals she didn’t want ‘some Russian f***y in his face every week’ as part of the competition.
“Now they’re not together, James wants to go on the show. He thinks it will be good for his profile. He’s not signed the contract yet but everyone’s keen.
“The irony is that because of his height he’ll probably be paired with one of the taller, statuesque dancers. Beverley’s fear may yet come true!”
The 47-year-old sportsman married Beverley in 2002 and has three children; Croyde, Trixie and Kiki with him, but they announced their split in March this year.
A source said last year: “James was offered ‘Strictl’y but his wife Bev said there was no way it was happening … James was up for taking part as it’s a good way to boost his profile again but Bev said no. He joins an ever-growing list of celebrities who don’t want to risk falling foul to the show’s infamous curse.”
Beverley’s ban came just days after it was claimed producers were panicking as some of the stars – including Lacey Turner, Angela Scanlon, Claude Littner, Mel Giedroyc and actress Martine McCutcheon – that they were keen to sign up have already snubbed the chance because they’re worried about the infamous curse, which sees relationships falling apart during or just after the show, striking again.

Love Island to face shock re-coupling 48 hours in

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard and Tommy Fury have 48 hours to choose a girl they want to couple up with – leaving two of the other men “vulnerable.”
The ITV2 dating show returned to screens tonight (03.06.19) as 12 singletons battled it out to find their match made in heaven – and this series has already got off to a competitive start as the two late arrivals have the opportunity to nab a lovely lady from another lad’s arms in tomorrow (04.06.19) night’s episode.
The programme kicked off with all the contestants choosing someone of the opposite sex to partner up with and, although most of them seemed to be happy with their choices, Anton Danyluk – who was initially paired with air hostess Amy Hart – attempted to cause trouble by telling Lucie Donlan, who was partnered with Joe Garratt, that he fancied her and could see them getting on well together.
The gym owner – who admitted in his VT that he struggled to stay loyal – asked Lucie: “I just wanted to see if you’re attracted to me.”
To which she replied: “Yeah of course, but my type is normally more surfer looking?” even though she previously said she couldn’t understand his accent.
Despite the blonde surfer knocking back his advances, Joe may see his lady swan off with someone else anyway as the teaser clip at the end of tonight’s show saw professional boxer Tommy – the younger brother of Tyson Fury – try it on with her.
Curtis – the older brother of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional AJ Pritchard – was also seen talking with Amber Gill, who left Sherif Lanre for Callum Macleod to then realise he was a bit too “old” for her and found his conversation “boring.”
The shock re-coupling will see at least one, if not two, boys being given the boot.

BGT winner Colin Thackery wants to go on Loose Women for his late wife

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ champion Colin Thackery wants to appear on ‘Loose Women’.
The 89-year-old war veteran bumped into Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Saira Khan and Jane Moore after appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ the day after his big win on Sunday night (02.06.19) and he admitted he would love the chance to appear on the panel show because it was his late wife Joan’s favourite programme.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “Joan never missed ‘Loose Women’. She’d always watch it at home. She would have loved that. It’s hard to pick a favourite but I do like Ruth.
“I may have won ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ but I am not done yet. I’d love to go on ‘Loose Women’. It would be a fine thing at my age to be Loose Man.”
However, he ruled out at the chance of a stint on any other reality shows, despite revealing he has some skills on the dance floor.
He teased: “I can dance but I couldn’t cope doing ‘Strictly’ and I can’t do ‘Bake Off’ as I’d make a hell of a mess.”

He added: “I celebrated with a G&T. I didn’t expect to win. My oan would have been proud but she’s northern and wouldn’t let it go to my head.
“I got to bed at 12.30am! Late for me as I’m normally in bed by 10.30pm. I’ve not come back to earth but I’m enjoying the ride. I’d love to go on holiday as one of my treats.”

Quentin Tarantino gets writer for Django/Zorro film

OHMYGOSSIP — Quentin Tarantino and Jerrod Carmichael are reportedly writing a ‘Django/Zorro’ movie.
The iconic director is said to have brought in the stand up comedian to work on the script based on the filmmaker’s comic book series of the same name, which serves as a sequel to 2012’s ‘Django Unchained’.
As reported by Collider, the film adaptation is moving ahead with Carmichael working on a script, although it’ not known whether Tarantino is simply overseeing or co-writing it himself – or even if another unidentified writer is involved.
‘Djano/Zorro’ takes place several years after ‘Django Unchained’ as the titular character – played by Jamie Foxx in the 2012 movie – is a bounty hunter in the western states with a warrant on his head back east.
With his wife settled near Chicago, he hits the road again – providing for her with money whenever he finishes a job – and ends up meeting an older Diego de la Vega.
Django is fascinated by the man – Zorro himself – and he becomes his ‘bodyguard’ on a mission to free people from slavery.
Meanwhile, Tarantino’s latest film ‘Once Upon a Time In Hollywood’ debuted at Cannes Film Festival last month and he admitted the running time of 2 hours and 39 minutes could be extended by the time it gets a wider release this summer.
He recently revealed the first cut of the film ran for about four hours and 20 minutes before he and editor Fred Raskin cut the film down.
He said: “I wouldn’t take anything else out. I’m going to explore possibly putting something back in. If anything, I wanted to go to Cannes too short. If I’m going to err, I’m going to err on too tight.”

Clay Milner Russell joins EastEnders as new Bobby Beale

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Bobby Beale will return next week with newcomer Clay Milner Russell cast as the killer teen.
The star will make his TV debut when he replaces Eliot Carrington as the bad boy, who was last seen on screen in 2017 when he was imprisoned in a youth detention centre for three years for bumping off his sister Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) in 2014.
Jon Sen, EastEnders’ executive producer, said: “Clay’s an exciting new talent with a charisma and an intensity that injects a new energy into the fascinating character of Bobby Beale.
“We can’t wait for audiences to see Bobby return home and the impact his arrival will have on the Square.”
Bobby’s return has been talked about in recent weeks by his grandmother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and father Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).
The youngster bumped off his sibling in April 2014 when he was just 12 years old, which led to an epic ‘Who Killed Lucy Beale?’ whodunit storyline, which wasn’t wrapped up until a year later when Bobby confessed to the killing.
‘EastEnders’ fans had devised theories galore about who the culprit could be with scriptwriters including numerous red herrings along the way.
Bookies also offered a betting market on the outcome with Bobby initially installed as a 100/1 rank outsider to have killed his own sister.
But shortly before the confession episode a year later, Bobby’s odds had dramatically shortened to 9/4 favourite.
As well as doing away with Lucy, Bobby proved his aggressive streak was not a one-off as he went on to batter step-mum Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) in 2016 over the head with a hockey stick, leaving her critically injured and unable to walk again.
Eliot portrayed Bobby from 2014 until the character’s prison sentence in 2017, after taking over from Rory Stroud, who was in the role from 2013 to 2014.
Alex Francis played the part from 2007 to 2012, after Kevin Curran portrayed Bobby from 2003 to 2007.
