Olivia Wilde and Jon Hamm join Richard Jewell cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Wilde and Jon Hamm have reportedly joined the cast of ‘The Ballad of Richard Jewell’.
The pair are set to join an already star studded ensemble for Clint Eastwood’s upcoming drama, which features Paul Walter Hauser in the title role while Sam Rockwell and Kathy Bates will play his attorney and mother respectively.
The movie follows police officer and security guard Jewell after he is wrongly accused of planting the bomb during the Olympic Park bombing during the 1996 Atlanta Games.
The upcoming film sees Jewell as his life is transformed after the police leaked that he was a suspect in the incident.
Jewell – who found a suspicious backpack in the Olympic Park, before clearing the area and saving lives – quickly went from being considered a hero, to one of the most disliked people in the US.
According to Variety, Wilde will play real-life reporter Kathy Scruggs uncovering the event as it unfolds, while Hamm has been cast as an FBI agent investigating the bombing.
Leonardo DiCaprio was previously attached to portray Jewell, but he is no longer starring in the movie and will simply produce.
Jonah Hill was also set to star in the film, but will now join DiCaprio in a producing role.
The script has been penned by Billy Ray, who previously wrote 2013’s ‘Captain Phillips’.
Meanwhile, even at the age of 89, Eastwood is showing no signs of slowing down.
‘The Mule’ filmmaker previously insisted he doesn’t have any intention to retire from the movie business, although he is planning to be more selective about his projects in the coming years.
He explained: “Maybe I just don’t want a certain volume of work, but, no, it hasn’t lessened. I love what I do … I’ll probably keep on going.
“I feel good, but it depends on material. I probably wouldn’t do something just because it was marginal – I have to kind of think it has some validity and has some relationship to today.”

Piers Morgan jokes Sharon Osbourne is scarier than convicted killers

OHMYGOSSIP — Piers Morgan jokes Sharon Osbourne scares him more than murderers.
The 54-year-old broadcaster is fronting a new show next week ‘Psychopath’ which sees him going behind bars in Texas to meet killer Paris Bennett, who stabbed his four-year-old sister to death at the age of 13.
Asked whether he gets more nervous chatting to celebrities for ‘Life Stories’ than he does interviewing inmates, Piers joked to TV Times: “It’s a toss-up whether someone like Sharon Osbourne is more or less dangerous to interview than someone who’s killed 20 people.
“I don’t know how many people she’s killed with her bare hands but I imagine the answer is not zero!”
Meanwhile, the ‘Good Morning Britain’ host insisted he has a talent for making anyone – whether they’re a celebrity or a killer – open up to him about their lives.
He added: “Trust me, trying to keep them in the room without alienating them is an art form.”
Meanwhile, Piers recently admitted he should probably review his “public persona” after receiving a namecheck on ‘Coronation Street’.
Although he was thrilled to receive the “badge of honour” of being mentioned on the popular soap last month, that disappeared once it was explained to him that David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) had joked he had to calm the rage the ‘Life Stories’ interviewer had sparked in his mother Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth).
He recently said: “There’s no greater badge of honour than getting a namecheck on ‘Coronation Street’. So I was thrilled to hear my own was cited on tonight’s episode. Until I heard why…
“‘So how’s everybody’s morning been?’ asked Kylie Platt. ‘Quiet,’ replied David Platt, ‘though I did have to stop Mum throwing a tomahawk at Piers Morgan…’
“The camera homed in on a murderous-looking Gail Platt. Jeez, when even fictitious soap characters want to kill me, it may be time to review my public persona.”
‘Psychopath with Piers Morgan’ airs on June 27 at 9pm ITV.

Charity praises Love Island viewers for ‘calling out unhealthy behaviour’

OHMYGOSSIP — A domestic abuse charity have praised ‘Love Island’ viewers for “calling out unhealthy behaviour” on the show after almost 800 people complained to Ofcom.
Adina Claire, co-chief executive of Women’s Aid, believes it is a “positive development” that people are highlighting parts of the ITV2 dating show to the UK’s communications regulator after 302 people objected to Joe Garratt’s treatment of partner Lucie Donlan.
In a statement on the Women’s Aid website, Adina said: “Controlling behaviour is never acceptable, and with Love Island viewers complaining to Ofcom in record numbers about Joe’s possessive behaviour towards Lucie, more people are becoming aware of this and want to challenge it.
“Abusive relationships often start off with subtle signs of control, so it’s important that it is recognised at an early stage.
“‘Love Island’ viewers are now very vocal in calling out unhealthy behaviour between couples on the show, and this is a positive development.”
Her comments come after Lucie broke down in tears after Joe suggested she spend more time with the girls.
Speaking about her friendship with Tommy Fury, Joe said to her: “I’m not happy with it. It’s strange. I think it’s time for you to get close with the girls.”
Ofcom also received 486 complaints over Maura Higgins’ attempts to win Tommy’s affections, which included her trying to kiss him on Friday night’s (14.06.19) episode.
A spokesperson said: “We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.”
But she failed to win over the 20-year-old boxer, with Tommy recoupling with Molly-Mae Hague instead.
It comes after Islander Sherif Lanre was booted off the show earlier this month after he accidentally kicked Molly-Mae in the crotch and described the action as a “**** punt”.
He has since said: “I have never used the word before and I realise how insulting it is to women.
“As someone raised by a strong and loving mother, I want to say that I would never intentionally offend women. I was completely wrong and I apologise.”

Kristina Rihanoff wants marriage – but not just yet

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristina Rihanoff says marriage to Ben Cohen is still “a couple of years” away.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro – who met the rugby star while they were performing on the 11th series of the BBC’s ballroom competition in 2013 – has two-year-old daughter Mila with her beau, but there are no wedding bells just yet.
Speaking to Hello magazine, she said: “It will probably be in a couple of years. Hopefully we’ll gather the family round and it’ll happen.”
For now, the loved up pair are focused on their work and family, and Kristina described her partner as “the best dad in the world” for their kid.
She added: “Ben is the best dad in the world. Mila is such a daddy’s girl and she’s always on the go.
“She doesn’t stop. She goes to rugby class, and also to dance and yoga with me. She’s a very active girl.”
Meanwhile Kristina, 41, previously admitted would “love” to return to ‘Strictly’ in a judging role at some point, but doesn’t feel ready to be in the hot seat just yet despite the recent exit of Dame Darcey Bussell.
She said: “Of course I would love to be a judge. But I don’t see myself in that role yet … I think the panel needs another woman and someone from a different background to ballroom dancing, someone from street dancing or a commercial dancing background, who is also a professional dancer and perhaps a judge.”
However, she believes bosses could go for an unknown dancer for the judging role because ‘Strictly’ “makes everybody a household name”.
Reflecting on Darcey’s judging style, she added: “Darcey was … a classy lady and always so very kind and true to herself in her comments. She never said something to make a headline.”

Lucy Fallon to become an auntie

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Fallon is to become an auntie.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who plays Bethany Platt on the ITV soap – took to Twitter to reveal her sister is pregnant and due to give birth in just two months’ time.
Lucy also shared a scan picture of the unborn baby, and added the caption: “My sister is having a baby in August… this is him swimming around in her belly x hello baby x (sic)”
And the 23-year-old actress could have more free time to play with the youngster soon as she is to depart the ITV soap next year.
However, the star could well be busy after recently admitting she is departing Weatherfield to turn her hand to other projects, and expects to return to the cobbles at some point.
She said: “I will be sad, but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in the future, although I have no idea what’s going to happen.
“When I leave I’ll have been there for five years, and I’ve never done anything else. But I’ll end up going back – I’ll be back.”
While it’s not yet known how Bethany will leave Weatherfield, Lucy is hoping her alter-ego isn’t killed off, and she would love her character to head back to Italy, where she spent half of her life with mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
She said: “If it was up to me she would leave in a really nice way, just going to Italy or something. Smiling and happy, no bad things happening. But we’ll see …”

Paddy McGuinness hopes to bring back Top Gear’s magic

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness hopes he and co-hosts Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris have what it takes to make ‘Top Gear’ “magic” again.
The ‘Take Me Out’ star has insisted that he didn’t join the motoring show to improve its ratings, but he hopes as a fan of the “iconic” programme it will return to its heyday.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “People don’t want ‘Top Gear’ to fail – they just want to get the magic back and hopefully we’ll get there with it.
“You can never predict anything.
“If viewers love it, I will be not just happy for us but for ‘Top Gear ‘as a brand. It is a British icon and I want it to be loved again.”
On why he took the gig, Paddy explained: “I want it to rate really well because, coming from Saturday night TV, it’s all about ratings.
“But I didn’t take the job with ratings in the back of my head.
“I took it because I love the show and thought it was a fantastic opportunity.”
Paddy and Flintoff stepped in after the exit of former ‘Friends’ actor Matt LeBlanc, who decided to leave the show so that he can spend more time with his 15-year-old daughter Marina in the US.
Chris and Matt were joined by Rory Reid in the last series, and the latter will now front the online edition of the show ‘Extra Gear’.
Meanwhile, Paddy previously admitted that he actually failed his driving test first time around despite being set to host the motoring show.
He said: “I failed my driving test the first time, the instructor was a wrong ‘un, pencil tache, 60 years old. Fail.
“Second time, it was blazing hot and I was wearing Kevin Keegan short shorts, I had a female examiner and I passed.”
‘Top Gear’ returns to BBC Two on Sunday (16.06.19).

Caroline Flack explains Yewande Biala screen time

OHMYGOSSIP — Caroline Flack has hinted Yewande Biala hasn’t been seen “enough” in ‘Love Island’ yet because she “hasn’t fancied anyone”.
The ITV2 dating show’s presenter has reassured fans of the 23-year-old scientist about why she may have not had as much screen time as some other Islanders, insisting her lack of romantic interests could have put paid to her being on the box quite as much.
Speaking on spin-off show ‘Love Island: Aftersun’, she said: “We haven’t really seen enough of Yewande yet have we?
“But is it purely because she just hasn’t fancied anyone.”
TV presenter AJ Odudu, who was a panellist on last night’s (09.06.19) show as it made its return, believes Yewande herself is her “biggest barrier”, and claimed she might have “self-esteem issues”.
She said: “I think Yewande has self-esteem issues, I really do, I feel like she’s her biggest barrier in there.”
But Yewande looks set to feature a lot more on tonight’s (10.06.19) episode after she got a text in last night’s ep informing her newcomer Danny Williams has invited her on a date.
Her apparent lack of screen time comes after some viewers called for the casting process to change after Yewande was initially snubbed during the launch episode coupling.
Marcel Somerville – who was chosen last when he appeared on the programme in 2017 – said: “The one thing that lets the show down is when they’re doing their casting they don’t take into consideration people’s tastes.
“The casting progress needs to change. They need to listen and think about who they’re putting in the villa and at what times.
“They need to make sure people match up in terms of their types, they put a bunch of good looking people in there but if you’re putting people in there that won’t form connections you’re making it impossible − especially if it is a person of colour, they’re making it seem like it’s a colour situation.”
Marcel – who found love on the show with Gabby Allen – admitted he was concerned his “ethnic background” was the reason why he was snubbed during the first couplings.
He recently said: “As a person of ethnic background you do feel ‘Is it because I’m black?’ You do have that go through your head.
“I’m not different from anyone else, I’m a human, I go to the gym, I have a good body. The only difference between you and that person is the colour of your skin.
“For my description I said I was tall dark and handsome but that can mean something totally different.
“But a girl may say the same in her application but mean a tanned man not a black man.”

Daniel Radcliffe set for Who Do You Think You Are?

OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Radcliffe, Kate Winslet and Naomie Harris will appear on the new series of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’.
The geneaology show returns for its 16th season this summer and as well as the Hollywood stars, former ‘X Factor’ judge Sharon Osbourne, comedian Katherine Ryan, ‘Have I Got News For You’ panellist Paul Merton and reality star-turned-presenter Mark Wright will be tracing their ancestry in the upcoming episodes.
And for the first time, Jack Whitehall will appear together with his father Michael to explore their family history, where they discover their family’s link to the Newport Rising, the last large-scale armed rebellion against authority in Great Britain.
Executive producer Colette Flight said: “We’re delighted to have this incredible line-up of stars and to have captured these journeys of discovery as they explore their extraordinary family trees.
“What they uncover is revelatory, moving, often funny and always fascinating. Many of our celebrities’ ancestors were caught up in momentous historical events which we are covering for the first time in the series.”
BBC Commission Editor Abigail Priddle added: “I’m thrilled that the BAFTA winning Who Do You Think You Are? is returning to BBC One, now in its sixteenth series and with another amazing line up of celebrities who will be delving into their ancestry, it promises to be a real treat for viewers.”
Among the revelations will be Mark’s discovery he has Spanish and Jewish roots, with one distant relative having been tortured during the Spanish Inquisition, and ‘Titanic’ star Kate finding out she was related to a military drummer boy as she explores her Swedish heritage.
‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel is shown an ancestor’s moving letters, which were written during World War I, while one of the celebrities learns an ancestor was burned at the stake, and another discovers a relative who was involved in a banjo-related assault.

James Corden ”owed’ Gavin and Stacey characters

OHMYGOSSIP — James Corden and Ruth Jones felt they “owed” it to the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ characters to bring back the show.
The writers – who also played Smithy and Nessa Jenkins in three seasons of the sitcom alongside Mathew Horne and Joanna Page in the title roles – recently revealed they are working on a Christmas special and the ‘Late Late Show’ host admitted they have been trading ideas for two years but only decided to go ahead with the one-off episode a few months ago when they found a story to tell, even though they had reservations about resurrecting the programme after nine years off screen.
James said: “We owed it to the characters. Let’s see what they’re doing.
“We wanted to see if there was something there, and for a while we weren’t sure. Then, once there was, my feeling was, life’s too short. Fear is the absolute reason to do it.
“This sounds ridiculously deep, but none of us are promised tomorrow. We’re here for a minute, so you have to try to do it all. I’d rather regret something than not do it.”
Though plot details of the special are being kept under wraps, the 40-year-old star promised it will be a “nostalgic joy-bomb”.
Asked if there will be any discussion on Brexit during the episode, he told the Sunday Times Culture magazine: “We did talk about it. But we just want the new show to be a nostalgic joy-bomb.”
The ‘Ocean’s Eight’ actor admitted his friendship with Ruth is very important to him.
Explaining how they have recently talked about nothing but work, he added: “And then she sent a text. It said, ‘James… I love you.’ And I said, ‘I love you too. You are the best friend I could ask for. You’ve anchored me in so many moments of my life. I’ve loved every second of this rebirth, even the stress.’ And she put, ‘OK, now I’m crying.’ It’s a lovely thing.”

Chris Kamara’s Emmerdale cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Kamara is to make a cameo in ‘Emmerdale’.
The former footballer will appear in the ITV soap at the end of the month when he plays a manager of a local football team who go up against the villagers’ newly-formed side, who will include Doug Potts (Duncan Preston) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles).
The ‘Soccer Saturday’ pundit – who is nicknamed Kammy – said: “I watch ‘Emmerdale’ with my wife and my son, in fact my son is a massive ‘Emmerdale’ fan so if I was coming down, they had to come too.
“It was a great day and I loved it! I essentially got to play myself and not a character, but hopefully that’ll be the next thing along the line.”
Chris will “ruffle a few feathers” during his cameo, which will last for a couple of episodes.
‘Emmerdale’ producer Kate Brooks said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Chris join us for a special cameo in ‘Emmerdale’.
“With Chris’ football expertise, he certainly manages to ruffle a few feathers with our newly formed Woolpack football team.”
As well as starring as a football pundit nowadays, Kammy – who previously played for the likes of Swindon Town, Leeds United and Brentford, and managed Bradford City and Stoke City – co-hosts ‘Ninja Warrior UK’.
Chris has previously admitted he would love to appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, but he recently further damaged his back after falling down the stairs on ‘Ninja Warrior’.
He said: “I actually fell down the steps on ‘Ninja Warrior’.
“My back has always been a problem from when I played.
“We had this competition, no drinking involved, and this day my back felt particularly good.
“So I ran up the steps and then down the steps to try to get there before anybody else, and of course I tripped up before the second last step.”
However, he could still recover in time to compete on the Latin and ballroom programme next year.
When asked if he could mend from his injury to take part on ‘Strictly’ next year, he said: “Possibly, possibly. I had an injection a week last Monday.”

Jaume Collet-Serra to helm Black Adam film

OHMYGOSSIP — Jaume Collet-Serra is set to direct Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’ movie.
Dwayne is playing Black Adam in an upcoming movie based upon the character, who is a recurring enemy of superhero Shazam in the comic book series, and now filmmaker Jaume, 45, has been chosen to helm the picture after working with the 47-year-old action star on ‘Jungle Cruise’ the movie based on the Disney theme park attraction of the same name which is set for release in 2020.
The ‘Rampage’ star – who served as an executive producer on the latest DC Extended Universe film ‘Shazam!’ – has been developing the project for the past 10 years and recently revealed that filming is set to begin in the next 12 months and he can’t wait to get started.
Dwayne previously said: “The challenges and the struggle that we were having and that was gnawing at my gut is that we were trying to tell two origin stories in one script. Those who know the comic books and the mythology of the comics of ‘Shazam!’ know that Shazam is connected to Black Adam.
“Black Adam is an anti-hero, or villain, who I cannot wait to play. I’ve been developing this, and it’s been with me and my DNA for over 10 years now. We should start shooting that in about a year. Very excited about that.”
The ‘Baywatch’ star also thanked fans for their positive response to ‘Shazam!’ – which stars Zachary Levi as the titular hero – which grossed $362 million worldwide, making it the seventh highest-grossing film of 2019.

Tom Hanks: My final Toy Story scenes are profound

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks says his final scenes in ‘Toy Story 4’ are “pretty profound”.
The 62-year-old actor has voiced cowboy doll Woody in Disney-Pixar’s beloved animated saga since the original 1995 movie and he has revealed that although he tried to avoid any “self-consciousness” whilst recording his final moments he couldn’t face anyone else in the room and had to look at the wall to try and ignore the momentous nature of the moment.
Speaking at a press conference in Florida, he said: “I didn’t want to have any self-consciousness for what I knew was going to be the … last few hours I was spending with the movie.
“When it came to pass, I felt as though I was on the other side of the river waving to everybody I had left back in the old country. It was pretty profound.”
The ‘Cast Away’ star went on to explain that his final day was made even more emotional by the fact he had recorded all his lines in the same booth since the original ‘Toy Story’.
He said: “You drive into the lot, through the same gate, you park in the same spot they had for you, then you go through the same doors, get in your car and you drive back through. And you think, ‘I have recorded the last moment of the current ‘Toy Story’.’ ”
The movie – which will also see Tim Allen reprise the role of Space Ranger action figure Buzz Lightyear – is on course to achieve the biggest animated box-office opening ever.
The Disney-Pixar sequel is tracking to surpass the record of $182 million, which was set by ‘Incredibles 2’ in 2018.
In fact, the movie is projected to generate a domestic three-day opening weekend of $200 million in the US, according to Dark Horizons.
‘Toy Story 4’ is set for release later this month and will feature a host of other A-list stars voicing characters, including the likes of Annie Potts, Joan Cusack, Michael Keaton and Keanu Reeves.

Sheridan Smith not returning to Gavin and Stacey

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith is not returning for the ‘Gavin and Stacey’ Christmas special.
The 37-year-old actress played Ruth “Rudi” Smith, the sister of James Corden’s alter-ego Smithy, in the BBC sitcom, but the character doesn’t look likely to appear in the forthcoming festive episode on Christmas Day (25.12.19).
When asked on BBC Radio 2’s ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ if she will be reprising her role for the programme’s hotly-anticipated return, Sheridan said: “I wish. No, I’m not going to be in it, I think.”
Sheridan’s comments come after it was recently confirmed she had departed the role of British porn star Jolene Dollar in Channel 4 drama ‘Adult Material’ due to “conflicting commitments”.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: “Sheridan is not involved due to conflicting commitments.”
The ‘Benidorm’ star – who is appearing in West End show ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, and BBC drama ‘The Barking Murders’ – has been replaced by Hayley Squires.
Sheridan received an OBE for her services to drama in 2015, and Prince William, who presented her with the gong, told her he is a big fan of ‘Gavin and Stacey’.
Speaking at the time, she said: “I did say I don’t feel as worthy as so many of the recipients, but thank you so much, it’s a huge honour.
“He said he’d seen some of my work, which is amazing, and was a fan of ‘Gavin and Stacey’.
“And I congratulated him on his wonderful children and he shook my hand and I was shaking – it’s all a bit of a blur. I never ever expected to get an OBE so this is absolutely indescribable.”

Jason Donovan would follow Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce back to Neighbours

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Donovan would return to ‘Neighbours’ if Guy Pearce and Kylie Minogue also made comebacks.
The 51-year-old star shot to fame as Scott Robinson from 1986 to 1989 alongside Kylie (Charlene Robinson) and Guy (Mike Young), and he thinks he would only have “the right sort of feeling” about a return to the Australian soap if he was part of a “group package”.
He said: “I’d do it if Guy [Pearce] and Kylie [Minogue] said, ‘Let’s do a couple of days back on ‘Neighbours’.’
“It’d have to be done as a group package for it to have the right sort of feeling.
“I always get asked about going back on the show – you never know, but at the moment that’s not the plan.”
Whether Jason reprises his role as Scott or not, he looks set to return to the set in the coming months to see his daughter Jemma Donovan after she joined the cast as quick-witted and complicated character Harlow Robinson.
He is quoted by News.com.au as saying: “I’m certainly going to go out to the ‘Neighbours’ set and visit Jemma when I’m back, because I haven’t done that since I left.”
Jemma recently said: “I was so happy and very honoured to be a part of a series which has been enjoyed by generations.
“The timing was also perfect because since my previous role on ‘Spotless’ in 2015, I stopped going to auditions and acting because I wanted to finish my schooling, get my A levels and see what I wanted to do after that so it’s great how everything has fallen into place.”
Jason added: “‘Neighbours’ is an incredible learning curve for any young actor.
“It’s become an institution and I’m so grateful for my time on Ramsay Street.
“There are so many great memories for me looking back, and to be honest this is Jemma’s moment.”

Love Island’s Callum MacLeod had set sights on Yewande Biala

OHMYGOSSIP — Callum MacLeod would’ve tried to recouple with Yewande Biala if he had remained on ‘Love Island’, after finding her “so interesting”.
The 28-year-old aircraft engineer admits it would’ve been a “slow burner” if the pair got together, and he would’ve also been interested in Amy Hart and Anna Vakili.
When asked who he would’ve tried to hook up with, he said: “If I was to recouple again now I would either look at Amy or Anna because we were really similar and we got on really well.
“But also towards the end, Yewande.
“We didn’t have an initial attraction with each other. But as I got to know her I found her so interesting, and I think it would’ve been a slow burner if I had another week or two in there.”
While Callum says he would’ve tried to get to know Yewande further, he was put off pursuing anyone who fellow Islander Tommy Fury was interested in during his short stint on the series because he was “not a typical lad”.
She said: “I told them this before I went on the show. I said, ‘I’m not your typical lad to get in there and mix it up.’
“Any girl that Tommy fancied I wouldn’t go nowhere near him.”
Callum quit his aircraft engineering job to appear on ‘Love Island’, but isn’t concerned about being unemployed.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, he added: “I’ve got my trade, I’ve got my experience. Even if I have to go elsewhere or to another company … there’s options there.”
‘Love Island’ returns on Monday (10.06.19) at 9pm on ITV2.
