OHMYGOSSIP — Tanya Franks has called for ‘EastEnders’ bosses to pair her up with Lorraine Stanley for some “feisty” scenes.
The 51-year-old actress would love to see her character Rainie Branning join forces with the 43-year-old star (Karen Taylor) for some explosive episodes, because the pair have been pals “for years and years”.
She said: “I’d love a scene with Lorraine Stanley, who I’ve known for years and years, but I’ve never acted.
“Rainie and Karen together would make for a pretty feisty moment, wouldn’t it?”
Tanya is also good friends with Scott Maslen (Scott Branning) on the BBC One soap, and admits he is one of the funniest members of the cast because he is always making her fall about laughing.
He said: “Scott Maslen makes me laugh the most. Honestly, he’s truly hilarious, proper funny.
“He’s such a comedic person. As Jack he is very straight down the line, but Scott is funny all the time.”
The ‘Broadchurch’ actress enjoys unwinding in her dressing room in between scenes, and is a big hit with her smoothie-loving co-stars because she has her own blender so she can make some of the thick and creamy beverages for her fellow Albert Square residents.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “Between scenes I’m more often than not in my dressing room.
“It’s like my little haven where I can read scripts – but it’s also nice to sit and chat with people.
“I have a blender in there, too, so I can make smoothies.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ofcom will not investigate the complaints about Love Island’s Maura Higgins’ advances towards Tommy Fury.
The UK communications regulator’s decision comes after 709 viewers alleged the 28-year-old model had “sexually harassed” the 20-year-old boxer when she tried to kiss him as he lay on the sofa and declined her advances.
Tommy was coupled up with social media influencer Molly-Mae Hague at the time, and still is.
A spokesperson previously said of the complaints: “We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.”
However, the regulator has now insisted the episode had been “assessed under generally accepted standards”.
A spokeswoman told the BBC: “While we recognise that many viewers disapproved of a contestant’s behaviour in this episode, we took into account the context in which it occurred, including the nature of Maura and Tommy’s relationship, before and after.”
However, Ofcom are still undecided about whether to investigate the show over other controversial moments, such as more than 300 complaints from people objecting to Joe Garratt’s treatment of partner Lucie Donlan.
The axed Islander was accused of demonstrating “possessive behaviour” when he appeared to suggest she spend more time with the girls in the villa after spending time with Tommy.
Despite the complaints, Joe recently insisted he is “gutted” viewers perceived his actions as abusive, and insists he was only “trying to help her” because she was having “a hard time” on the show.
He previously said: “I didn’t manipulate or abuse her. I am gutted that it has been perceived in that way because it wasn’t like that at all.
“I always had Lucie’s best interests at heart and I promise you I would do everything and anything to help her because she had a hard time in there and didn’t get on with the girls.
“I was trying to help her and make her experience as amazing as possible. I thought I did right.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough says flights should be “more expensive” to save the environment.
The ‘Our Planet’ narrator believes the price of flights are “extraordinarily cheap” and they should be increased to save the environment, because he’s not sure how else it would “restrict” people from taking plane trips.
While speaking to a Select Committee about climate change and environmental damage, he said: “I think one way of reducing these things is to count the cost of air travel in real terms in terms of the environment.
“And if you cost that you would see that the tickets are extraordinarily cheap.”
When asked by a member of the committee if people should be restricted from taking holiday flights and they should reduce their travel expectations, the naturalist replied: “I don’t know how you would restrict it other than economically.”
David has warned of “great social unrest” in 20 to 30 years’ time.
He said: “We’re changing the climate in a way that’s irreversible. In our grandchildren’s lifetimes it will be irreversible if we go on the way we are.
“I’m arguing that unless we do restrict it to some degree they’re going to have a much bigger and more serious collapse.”
The multi-BAFTA winner then reflected on his own use of air travel, which he admitted is a “paradox”.
He added: “I certainly worry that the job I do involves me travelling. I have travelled by air only too frequently in the last six months in order to make programmes, some of them programmes about the very subject that we’re talking about, which is, I daresay, a paradox.”
Throughout the meeting David stressed the need for action, but when asked if he was optimistic for the future, he did offer hope.
He said: “I see no future in being pessimistic because that leads you to say, ‘To hell with it, why should I care?’
“I believe that way disaster lies. I feel an obligation – it’s the only way you can get up in the morning is to believe that actually we can do something about it and I suppose I think we can.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Lucie Donlan is hopeful she and Tommy Fury may date in a “few years.”
The professional boxer is currently loved up with influencer Molly-Mae Hague, but the surfer – who has been open about her feelings for the hunk on more than one occasion – is adamant that she’d “never say never” about them getting together in the future.
Speaking after she was kicked out of the villa in tonight’s (09.07.19) episode, Lucie said: “Me and Tommy will always be best friends.
“I’ve had best friends and then dated them and then still been best friends after. I think a lot of girls think it’s odd but I can turn things on and off really easily.
“You’ll always have a love for a best friend whether it’s a boy or a girl but at times it can mean different things. I want to see how things go with him and Molly- Mae, I can see he really likes her. I’m happy for them. I feel like we’ll see what happens on the outside and how those guys will go but never say never, if we did come to that romantic stage in a few years and me and Tommy were still friends, you never know.”
And, although she’s “gutted” that things didn’t work out between her and Tommy, the model would jump at the chance to go back into the villa and “have fun” with everyone.
She explained: “I would definitely want to go back into the villa! I was loving it. After Casa Amor, I got to know George and that didn’t go how I thought it would and then I realised I liked Tommy. Although I liked him romantically, he was my best friend so it was nice to see your best friend so happy. At the same time, I was a bit gutted. I would love to go back in and just have fun with everyone.”
Following the quadruple dumping last night, producers have chucked two new people – Francesca Allen and Chris Taylor – into the villa to shake things up.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark-Neal will host the reboot of ‘Supermarket Sweep’.
The 30-year-old television presenter has been chosen to front the classic game show – which was presented by the late Dale Winton from 1993 until 2007 – because producers think his lively personality will bring a touch of the old version.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Bizarre Column: “It was felt that nobody else was better suited to take over the role which was synonymous with Dale for so long. Rylan has a personality that will allow him to conjure up all the campery of old while still making the role his own.”
The new series, which is made up of 20 episodes, will run from Monday to Friday in a primetime slot over four weeks later this year.
Rylan had been dropping hints about his new television gig since last year when he posted a picture on Twitter of documents featuring the rebooted show’s new logo.
The paper work featured the former ‘X Factor’ star’s picture and the new logo, as well as a tease about the rebooted programme.
It read: “It’s time to go wild in the aisles once more as the classic Supermarket Sweep returns bigger, funnier, and wilder than ever before!”
He then added fuel to the fire a few months later when he admitted that there had been a conversation with producers about bringing the game show back.
He said at the time: “I don’t actually know.
“I know there’s been a discussion about it. Of course, I’d love to do it!
“It’s iconic, ‘Supermarket Sweep’.”
‘Supermarket Sweep’ sees players enter a store where three teams of two go head-to-head using their skills and knowledge of merchandise to win cash prizes.
But players must also answer pop culture questions and solve puzzles based on the products and merchandise found in the supermarkets around the world.
The show concludes in an all-or-nothing trolley dash, where the successful team have to beat the clock and hunt down items hidden among the supermarket aisles.

The businesswoman – played by Louisa Lytton – may have only just split up with Jay Branning (Jamie Borthwick), but it doesn’t take her long to jump into bed with someone new as she and the womaniser (Jake Wood) are expected to fall into each other’s arms later this summer as sparks fly when they team up for work.
A source told Metro.co.uk: “Ruby and Max are an electric match and the chemistry between them is undeniable, but it’s safe to say they’ll have some obstacles coming their way. Ruby is completely oblivious about Max’s history with her best mate Stacey, and it’s only a matter of time before she finds out but just what will Stacey make of the pairing?”
However, the news that Ruby and Max are a couple will unlikely go down well with the brunette beauty’s best friend Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) as the former hairdresser once had an affair with him while he was married to Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner).

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard was reduced to tears when Amy Hart told him she was leaving the villa so that he could meet someone else and be “happy.”
The air hostess decided to walk out of the sun-soaked shack earlier this week after the professional ballroom dancer broke her heart when he told her that he couldn’t promise her his head wouldn’t be turned if another woman took his fancy.
Amy – who believes she was in love with Curtis – spent three days sobbing over the hunk before her heart was crushed even more when her friend Maura Higgins told her that she wanted to get to know him because she’s always fancied him.
Realising that the only way she could heal from the heart ache was to leave the villa, Amy told Curtis: “When you love someone you have to let them go.”
A tearful Curtis said: “Do not leave this place, please.”
To which Amy replied: “I have to go.”
Speaking in the beach hut, Amy – who was half-boyfriend and girlfriend with Curtis – added: “I have been on such a huge journey… I did not imagine that first night I would meet this boy [Curtis] that would change my life and change my mindset.
“I want him to be happy and I want him to meet someone else so I’m leaving here today not holding any grudges against anyone, not against Curtis, not against Maura, no one. I never thought I would fall in love, I never thought someone would make me feel so special that I would fall in love with them and I did and it makes me realise that that will happen for me again, just not in here.”
Curtis and Amy then walked down the Fire Pit hand-in-hand before announcing her decision to the rest of the islanders.
She said: “I have made some of the best friends I have ever had… I love you all dearly. Obviously, as you all know, I did fall in love. And when you love someone you have to let them go.
“My ‘Love Island’ journey finished last night when I sat at that fire pit and I looked at it and thought, ‘Even if I had to take the last week, I would take it if it meant I could take those first four weeks over again.’
“I want to leave in a positive way, surrounded by the people I love, like this… I love you all so much and I cannot tell you what you’ve all done for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Biggins has hit out at the “terrible” remake of ‘Are You Being Served?’.
The sitcom – which originally starred the likes of Mollie Sugden, Trevor Bannister, John Inman and Wendy Richard – made a brief return for a one-off episode in 2016, but the ‘Porridge’ star was less than impressed.
He said: “I’m very anti remakes. ‘Are You Being Served?’ was just terrible.”
Christopher – best known for his role of Lukewarm in ‘Porridge’, which also returned for one episode in 2016 and was later recommissioned for a full series in 2017 – has also hit out at the TV industry, insisting people in charge “have no ideas”.
He is quoted by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column as saying: “The thing about TV, we’re being governed by a lot of people who have no ideas.”
But Biggins isn’t the only actor to have been left unconvinced by the ‘Are You Being Served?’ remake, which starred the likes of John Challis, Jorgie Porter and Sherrie Hewson.
Joanna Lumley wasn’t a huge fan either and following the one-off episode, she said: “I can remember so vividly the people from the old ‘Are You Being Served?’. I’m slightly divided.
“You do think, ‘Maybe you should move on a bit?’ But maybe it entertains the young.”
Mike Berry, who played Mr Bert Spooner between series eight and 10 of the original show, previously admitted he was “disappointed” he wasn’t cast in the remake.
He said: “I’m interested to see it, but I’m disappointed they didn’t ask me to be in it.
“I really fancy Arthur English’s old role of Mr Harman, though Arthur Smith is brilliant casting for him … as long as he gets the dialogue…”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Mulhern’s ‘In For A Penny’ has landed a second series.
The 42-year-old TV star’s spin-off of his popular segment on ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ will return to screens once again as ITV has officially recommissioned the show, which gives members of the public the chance to win £1,000 by completing a series of “silly games”.
Stephen said: “It’s humbling to know that people enjoyed watching the show as much as we enjoyed making it.
“We met some incredible people on the first series and I can’t wait to get back on the streets of the UK, meeting the great British public and challenging them to take part in some silly games.”
And the Geordie duo quipped: “Another series? You’ve got to be kidding! That’s brilliant news because that means when he’s out on the street filming this, he isn’t bothering us. Pennies at the ready Great Britain.”
Games on ‘In For A Penny’ include Pump it Up, where the ‘Catchphrase’ host offers to pay for petrol if a driver can deliver the exact amount they had decided on beforehand in two trials.
Check it Out involves shoppers guessing whether goods running on a conveyor belt are more or less expensive than the previous item in a bid to win some free shopping.
Meanwhile, Stephen has another game show set to launch on the channel later this year.
The “Britain’s Got More Talent’ host has teamed up with Simon Cowell’s Syco and OTT Productions for ‘Rollin’ In It’.
The arcade-style programme will see famous faces, and potentially some of music mogul Simon’s friends, compete with a member of the audience in a giant spinning-coin game, with the chance to bag thousands of pounds.
A source said: “Producers have come up with a fun game-show format, which incorporates the glamour of celebs, as well as the excitement of punters winning big cash prizes.
“They’re hoping the nostalgia of arcade games will strike a chord with viewers and are planning a mainstream slot for it.
“While Simon is taking a back-seat role, he may help rope in some of his famous pals.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Regina King is to direct ‘One Night in Miami’.
The 48-year-old filmmaker is to helm the big screen adaptation of the Kemp Powers play, which tells the story of legendary boxer Cassius Clay – who went on to be known as Muhammad Ali – celebrating his shock 1964 victory over Sonny Liston with three pals, activist Malcolm X, singer Sam Cooke and American footballer Jim Brown.
According to Deadline, the play aims to show exactly what happened in the hours after the famous fight at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Clay’s surprise win over Liston has gone down as one of the greatest sporting moments of all time, and it marked the moment he became world heavyweight champion for the first time.
While many fans celebrated his surprised triumph in Miami Beach bars, Clay himself was unable to because of Jim Crow laws, which enforced racial segregation in Southern United States.
Along with his three pals, he spent the night at the Hampton House Motel in Miami’s Overtown instead.
‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actress King is also a big fan of theatre, but recently admitted she feels “intimated” about treading the boards.
Asked if she wants to be on stage, she said: “Absolutely! I just [became] a little intimidated at some point and then it eventually became that I just didn’t know [if] I was able to dedicate the amount of time. If you’re going to do it, then you better be dedicated. Committed! Why do it if you’re not?
“So, I think I’m there. Put it out there!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert De Niro “really loved” ‘The Joker’ script.
The Hollywood veteran plays talk show host Murray Franklin in the upcoming movie based on the DC Comics villain (Joaquin Phoenix) – which doubles up as an origin movie – and director Todd Phillips has revealed the ‘Meet the Fockers’ star was impressed by his and Scott Silver’s screenplay.
Todd told Empire “Bob really loved the script. I met with him and said, ‘I’d be lying to you if I said we weren’t influenced by a lot of your movies.’
“I talked with him about ‘Taxi Driver’ and about ‘The King Of Comedy’, which is one of my favourite movies of all time.”
According to Zazie Beetz – who plays Sophie Dumond – the film was re-written as they filmed the scenes.
She said: “We rewrote the whole thing while we were shooting it.
Literally, we would go into Todd [Phillips]’ trailer and then write the scene for the night and then do it.”
Meanwhile, Joaquin previously explained that the crime film will be unlike many earlier comic book flicks as it won’t seamlessly fit into a particular genre.
He revealed: “I wouldn’t quite classify this as like any genre.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a superhero movie, or a studio movie or a … It feels unique, and I think more then anything, and probably the most important thing, is Todd seems very passionate about it and very giving, and so that’s exciting.
“I think, underneath the excitement of these films, and the size of them, there are these incredible characters that are dealing with real life struggles.
“And sometimes that is uncovered and exposed, and sometimes it isn’t, and so I always felt, like, there were characters in comics that were really interesting and deserve the opportunity to be kind of studied. And so I think that’s what Todd sees appealing about this idea.”
The cast also features Douglas Hodge as Batman’s future butler Alfred Pennyworth and the likes of Shea Whigham and Billy Camp also make up the cast for the highly-anticipated movie.

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ bosses have hinted Robert Sugden-Dingle could be killed off this summer.
Producer Laura Shaw has confirmed Ryan Hawley – who plays the character – is departing the Dales after five years, and she dropped a huge hint that he may meet his maker while attempting to wreak revenge on his sister Victoria Sugden’s (Isabel Hodgins) rapist Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie).
She said: “Ryan Hawley is leaving the show – it’s been a fantastic five years with him and we will miss him dearly.
“There is some time left with him on screen yet but in time, it does mean that our beloved Robron are going to be parted.
“Robert is intent on getting his revenge at any cost, even if it kills him.”
Robert – whose relationship with Aaron Sugden-Dingle (Danny Miller) led to fans dubbing the pair “Robron” – will be “pushed to the very edge” as he goes up against evil Lee.
Laura added: “Victoria’s evil rapist Lee is still pursuing her, so Victoria decides that the only way that she’s ever going to live happily and peacefully with the baby, is if she leaves the village forever.
“As her brother finds this out, he’s obviously devastated. He doesn’t want his sister to leave at all and as Lee piles the pressure on both of them, Robert is pushed to the very edge.”
What’s more, Tracy Metcalfe’s (Amy Walsh) life could also hang in the balance when she is trapped in the Sharmas’ factory when a fire breaks out.
Laura said: “Will Tracy get out in time? It’s safe to say there are heart-breaking scenes ahead for the villagers and that Tracy’s life will never be the same again.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Sleggs has died aged 33.
The ‘This Country’ star – who was best known for portraying Slugs in the BBC Three comedy series – had been suffering from heart complications, and just two months ago he told fans his “deterioration” was “fairly rapid”.
A BBC Radio Gloucestershire tweet confirmed his death.
It reads: “Actor Michael Sleggs has died. The 33-year-old from Cirencester played Slugs in BBC comedy This Country. He revealed in May he was receiving palliative care for heart failure.”
In May, Michael wrote on Facebook: “Hi friends, as a lot of you are probably aware I’ve spent a lot of time in and out of hospital over the past few months.
“This last time it was decided I was reaching the end of options so they’ve sent me home on palliative care to live out the remainder of my days at home. No specific time limit has been given but deterioration has been fairly rapid.
“Anyway as you can imagine this isn’t the ideal way I wished things to go and my family are dealing with a lot of grief. (sic)”
Michael admitted he had “narrowly dodged a coma” after an accidental morphine overdose, and thanked his “kind, caring” fans and friends for supporting him.
He added: “I’ve been sleeping a lot and narrowly dodged a coma by accidentally overdosing on morphine the other day. Anyway as you can imagine this isn’t the ideal way I wished things to go and my family are dealing with a lot of grief.
“Just wanted to say I love everyone reading this status so much, you have all been such amazing, kind, caring people who have all touched my life in so many unique and incredible ways.
“Sorry if this status is too shmaltzy but not everyone has the chance to say goodbye so indulge me lol. (sic)”
Michael starred opposite siblings Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper in the sitcom.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Wilson watches ‘Love Island’ because it helps him to feel sleepy.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman has been tuning into the ITV2 dating show because he finds it quite “soporific” – inducing drowsiness or sleep – and he finds the conversations “more intelligent” than listening to some British politicians nowadays.
Quizzed what he thinks of the “political situation” in Britain, he said: “I’m watching ‘Love Island’ instead.
“Less complicated, and more intelligent.
“I find it quite soporific before I go to bed. It puts me into this stupor.
“I like it.”
The 41-year-old star also admitted hearing some of conversations between the Islanders “makes [him] feel quite good about” his brain, but he doesn’t feel so good about his body when he watches the show’s toned contestants.
When asked on ‘Good Morning Britain’ if he finds the Islanders “breathtakingly stupid”, he added: “Oh yeah, it makes me feel quite good about myself.
“I’m equally feeling bad about my body and good about my brain.”
This comes after fellow musician Liam Gallagher recently admitted when he wakes up and realises he didn’t watch ‘Love Island’ the night before it gives him the same delighted feeling he used to get after a night “not doing drugs”.
The 46-year-old star “got into” the programme last year, but he has managed to refrain from tuning into this year’s goings-on in the villa.
Liam said: “I actually liked it [‘Love Island’] last year. I got into it.
“I sort of fell into it last year. But I haven’t watched a bit this year, which is good.
“It’s like not doing drugs. It’s like, you wake up in the morning going like that, ‘Did I watch ‘Love Island’? No, I didn’t. Yes!’ ”

The ‘Loose Women’ star split from second husband Ray Fensome – the father of her 18-year-old daughter Ciara – 18 months ago and she’s ready to date again but doesn’t want to marry again or even share her home with another man in the future.
Coleen – who also has sons Shane, 30, and 26-year-old Jake with first husband Shane Richie – said: “I don’t want to get married again. I just want to meet someone I can have a lovely relationship with.
“I’d like it to be with someone who has hit place and I have mine and when we want to see each other we do and when we don’t, we don’t. A friend with benefits.”
The 54-year-old star is “terrified” at the thought of going on a date.
She told new! magazine: “It’s terrifying. It just mortifies me.
“It’s like, ‘How do you do it?’ ”
The ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ singer now believes she and Ray should never have married as they were better as just “friends”.
She said: “We’re really good friends and we get on better than we did when we were together.”
Asked if the romantic spark has gone, she added: “That’s definitely sailed and it’s made me realise that, apart from Ciara, we should have always just been friends.
“Once we got married and got older, we were very different people.
“We tried to make it work and we could have settled… I think Ray would have settled.”
Though she hasn’t been on any dates yet, Coleen thinks she’s easy to get along with in a relationship.
She said: “I’m not a dominant person in a relationship, I’m very placid and easygoing, plus I’m romantic. But I’m not willing to take any s**t.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Steadman and Peter Davison will play a married couple in new drama series ‘LIFE’.
The ‘Gavin & Stacey’ star and the former ‘Doctor Who’ actor are part of an ensemble cast that will also include Adrian Lester, Elaine Paige, Victoria Hamilton and Rachael Stirling in the upcoming BBC One six-part drama series, which will follow the stories of the residents of four flats within a large house in Manchester.
Ben Irving, Executive Producer for BBC One, said of the show: “It’s fitting that such an exceptional ensemble cast should be drawn together by Mike Bartlett’s extraordinary scripts. This is a beautiful, tender, funny, and unexpected emotional rollercoaster of a show and we can’t wait to bring it to audiences on BBC One.”
Gail (Steadman) is married to Henry (Davison) and about to celebrate her 70th birthday when her life is turned upside down by a chance encounter, while David (Lester) runs the risk of destroying his marriage to Kelly (Stirling) when he’s tempted by the impulsive Saira (Saira Choudry) on holiday.
Belle (Hamilton) lives alone and works as a pilates teacher, but her quiet life is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of her 15-year-old niece Maya (Erin Kellyman).
The fourth flat is occupied by Liam (Joshua James) and his heavily-pregnant girlfriend Hannah (Melissa Johns) – but their domestic bliss is thrown into turmoil with the return of Andy (Calvin Demba), who she had a one-night stand with nine months ago.
Writer Mike Bartlett is thrilled to have such a stellar cast on board.
He said: “This show is all about a group of remarkable characters with unexpected desires and hidden secrets, in search of something beyond their everyday lives. It’s just wonderful to have this fantastic cast to tell those stories, and to be working again with Drama Republic for the BBC.”
And Alison is delighted with the character the ‘Doctor Foster’ writer has created for her.
She said: “Mike Bartlett is a brilliant writer and has created an extraordinary character in Gail. I’m delighted to be playing her in LIFE.”
The programme has already started filming in Manchester and will run for six episodes.
