OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Entwistle feels she was part of a “golden era” on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 50-year-old star is best known for portraying Janice Battersby on the ITV soap from 1997 to 2011, and the ‘Ackley Bridge’ actress believes she and her co-stars were so “lucky” to have been cobbles regulars in the late 90s and early 00s.
In response to a video posted by a Twitter user showing a fight between Weatherfield women Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), which Janice got involved in, Vicky wrote: “That little vid so made me laugh!!! The good old days!!! We were such lucky folks back then!!! & we knew it!!! GOLDEN ERA!!! (sic)”
Jane also enjoyed watching the clip, writing: “Thanks for this – really made me giggle x (sic)”
Vicky’s comments come just two weeks after she tuned into ‘Corrie’ for the first time in nine years.
She wrote on Twitter: “WATCHING CORRIE FOR THE 1st TIME IN 9 years!!! FUNNY FEELING!! (sic)”
When asked if she could tell the difference between the show’s new set compared to the old one she used to work on, she wrote: “I don’t think I can!!! Not clever enough for that!!! X (sic)”
Following the tweet, several fans called for Vicky to reprise her role as Janice, with one admitting her character should return to Weatherfield alongside husband Les Battersby – who was played by Bruce Jones – because they were “great to watch”.
Vicky replied: “didn’t post this for that reaction! But nice words! X (sic)”
In 2017, Vicky hinted she could be set to reprise her role to lend a hand to on-screen step-daughter Leanne after an episode in which Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) was being verbally abusive to her.
She tweeted: “Think I may have to take you in hand lad.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne Johnson says ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ was “deeply personal” to him as it showcased his Samoan heritage.
The 47-year-old actor insisted that the first spinoff movie from the hugely successful ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise was “very special” as he is “proudly half black and half Samoan” and the film, which features a large cast of Samoan actors, paid tribute to the Pacific island.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the world premiere of ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ he said: “This is why this movie is really deeply personal to me, because I am proudly half black and half Samoan, and we were able to showcase one of my cultures in this movie.
“And it was very special because never before has a movie of this size and scale, in the history of Hollywood have we ever showcased this tiny island and this culture of Samoa and I’m very proud of that.”
The movie also stars Jason Statham as a former British military elite operative named Shaw who helps hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, to take down a cyber genetically-enhanced anarchist called Brixton (Idris Elba).
Jason, 51, went on to explain that one of the most “significant” part of the movie is the different qualities in the two lead characters.
He said: “It’s one of the most fun things you can do. We make action films, and a lot of the time, we never really get the chance to have fun with it.
“There’s a lot of things at stake. I think what the most significant part of that is that the characters are so defined, yet they’re so separate and different.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Donald Glover nearly had a cameo in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’.
The 35-year-old actor had a brief role in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ as Aaron Davis, the uncle of Miles Morales – an alternate version of the hero who appeared in the 2018 animated film version of the comic ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ – and writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers initially planned to bring him back for the latest instalment of the Marvel franchise, but had to “give up” on the idea.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, McKenna said: “We definitely considered that. We definitely thought, ‘How great it would be to bring back Aaron Davis again?’
“Other considerations come in. We went down that road a little bit, then the movie really spent such little time in Queens and gets to Europe pretty quickly. Some ideas you just have to give up.”
Sommers added: That’s really what it came down to. We loved that character and we wanted to do it, but we just wanted to get out of New York and get on the trip as soon as possible.
“There were several things we would have loved to do in New York before he left, but we just didn’t have time.”
The writing duo also spoke of Zendaya’s character MJ, and revealed that although they did tell some of her alter-ego’s backstory in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ they’re keen to include more in the new instalment
McKenna explained: “There was a moment when they come back from Washington in ‘Homecoming’ — I don’t think it made it into the movie — where you get the sense where she clearly doesn’t have someone there to pick her up and meet her at the bus and May and Peter offer to give her a ride home.
“You get a sense maybe there’s some sad home life going on, and I think it’s alluded to in some of the things that she says in this movie.
“With all that stuff, you never want to lean too hard into it. You want to tell a story with as few words as possible. I think we kept it kind of small and as nuanced as we could.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh is to do a gruelling 10-mile endurance race while wearing a 35lb rucksack to raise money for a Parachute Regiment charity.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress and her boyfriend Scott Ratcliff, who is a major in the Parachute Regiment, are hoping to raise £1,000 for Support Our Paras by taking part in the tough challenge.
Kym will run with pal Anja McAnespie, who has set up a JustGiving page to raise money for the cause.
A post on the page reads: “The Parachute Regiment challenges us to attempt the 10 Mile ‘P’ Company Cross Country Route, carrying a bergen (rucksack) weighing 35lb (excluding food water) and wearing long trousers with ‘military style’ or hiking boots with ankle support. Competitors rucksacks will be weighed before and after the race, by race officials.(sic)”
Scott will run with friend Alex, and the pair will do a 10-mile Tactical Advance to Battle, a military term used to describe a group of soldiers going into battle while carrying their heavy equipment, which can weigh up to 120lbs.
Kym has appealed to her social media followers to help her out.
She tweeted: “Morning guys!!! Hope you all had a fab weekend!! Would you lovely lot be so kind as to check out my pinned tweet and give it a little retweet for me please? And if you could sponsor us that would be amazing!!! Every little helps!! (sic)”
And it looks as though Kym – Michelle Connor in the ITV soap – has been getting some heavy load practice in, because she joked she is nearly having to wear three outfits at once due to the weather.

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexandre Aja wants to direct a ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ reboot.
The 40-year-old filmmaker – who helmed the forthcoming thriller-horror ‘Crawl’ and is well known for his work in the horror genre with films such as 2006’s ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ and 2008’s ‘Mirrors’ – would “love to explore” the hit franchise and thinks it would be “amazing” to remake the original slasher film.
In an interview with CinePop, he said: “‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ would be amazing, one of my most traumatic experiences as a kid was watching ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’.
“I would love to kind of explore that. This is a great world to explore.”
Last year, Robert Englund – who played infamous serial killer Freddy Krueger in the series – confessed that he would be down to reprise his role one last time after it was revealed that David F. Sandberg was keen to reboot the franchise.
He said: “I think they want to reboot the franchise, but they’re gonna need a new actor. They gonna need a new actor to play Freddy because they’re gonna have to do eight of them, you know. I might have one left in me.”
Craven’s original movie was released in 1984 and introduced Freddie to the horror genre and since then there have been eight more movies based around the dream-murdering villain.
Sandberg, who helmed ‘Conjuring’ spin-off movie ‘Annabelle: Creation’, previously teased that he was “thinking” about working on a reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic.
He said: “I’ve been thinking about what fun franchises New Line has like ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and ‘Critters’.
“Might be fun if you took something like that in a different direction from previous instalments. Like instead of remaking ‘Nightmare’ you do some continuation of it in the same world kind of thing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Evicted ‘Love Island’ star Lucie Donlan is backing Anton Danyluk following his explosive row with Belle Hassan in the latest episode of the ITV2 reality dating show.
Lucie has come to the defence of her friend Anton after the 21-year-old star blasted her villa beau for choosing to kiss Anna Vakili, 29, during a challenge on the instalment that aired on Sunday night (14.07.19).
Appearing on ‘Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp’, she said: “I don’t think she was in the right. Anton was so in the right. He literally, a few weeks before – we had the kissing challenge and Anna was classed the best kisser so made sense, they’re so close, best friends, nothing between them.
“He went over, kissed Anna just as a quick one and then he was gonna say something really lovely to Belle and bless him, and it all kicked off. And I felt sorry for him because he was gonna say something nice.”
Belle reacted very badly to the lighthearted moment in the villa, and insisted she didn’t see the funny side.
She told the 24-year-old hunk: “If you’re sitting there saying I possess a lot of qualities of someone you’d want to marry, why are you kissing someone else? I don’t care if it’s a challenge, I don’t find that funny.”
Meanwhile Lucie, 21, also revealed if she could couple up with any of the boys in the villa right now, she would still want to be with 20-year-old boxer Tommy Fury.
She explained: “Right now, you know who it would be right now – it would still be Tommy. That’s because he’s still the guy in there that I told him before I left that I liked so that was literally a few days ago.”
However, she insisted she wouldn’t try to pursue anything now, and while he felt like she needed to let him know how she felt, Lucie doesn’t want to get between Tommy and Molly-Mae Hague.
She added: “Well I liked him I mean but he’s with Molly, I don’t want to ruin anything, I just needed to get it off my chest and tell him.
“So I didn’t expect anything there. I know he doesn’t like me back – we’re best friends. It was probably a bit weird but I needed to get it off my chest and tell him.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes welcomed wife Ruth Langsford back to ‘This Morning’ after she took a break from the show following the death of her sister.
The 59-year-old TV presenter was left devastated after her older sibling Julia passed away last month and her husband and ‘This Morning’ co-host Eamonn, 59, was delighted to be reunited with his spouse on screen on Monday (15.07.19) following her leave of absence.
Without addressing the death directly, Eamonn said: “It’s very nice to see you back, darling.”
Ruth replied: “Good, good.”
The star previously thanked her friends, family and fans for all the sympathetic messages she’s received following Julia’s passing and insisted she felt “grateful” for the support.
Passing on a message from Ruth, Eamonn previously said: “Ruth wants me to say to the production team, everybody who works here in this studio, she said, ‘Everyone of them has been in touch,’ and she’s so grateful for everything that everybody has said.
“So, thank you. She can’t reply to everything. She reads them all, and it’s much, much appreciated.”
Last month, Eamonn broke down on the show while explaining why Rylan Clark-Neal was stepping in for Ruth.
Reading out a heartfelt tribute tweet she wrote the day before, he said: “Let me just explain why it is Rylan and myself today. You may already be aware of the terrible bereavement Ruth has had yesterday on her social media. She made this post to inform everyone and she said, ‘My lovely sis Julia has died after a long illness.
“‘My heart is completely broken. She was the kindest and most gentle soul …’ ”
As Eamonn struggled to hold back the tears, Rylan took over reading out Ruth’s tribute, saying: “And I’ll miss her forever as I am sure you will appreciate I need to take him to grieve. Thank you for your understanding.’ ”
Eamonn admitted he was grateful to Rylan for stepping in for Ruth, and revealed the former ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ host was the first person he called when he heard Julia had passed away. all of this.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Weight Watchers ambassador Alison Hammond surprised 12 unsuspecting WW members with a FaceTime call to congratulate them on their weight loss journeys.
The 44-year-old ‘This Morning’ presenter – who has been an ambassador for the weight loss program since April – video called the members to congratulate them on their efforts and she had a “blast” speaking to all “these incredible people”.
In a statement, she said: “I had a blast calling these incredible people, to listen to their stories and celebrate their success.
“I am on my own journey with WW and I know how much commitment it takes to live a healthy lifestyle, but when you start seeing those results it makes it all worthwhile.
“Reaching out to other members who are doing the same as I has given me such a buzz. This programme works really well for me and easily fits in with my on-the-go lifestyle, and I am feeling fantastic. Do you know what, these guys inspire me!”
Alison herself has dropped an impressive 25lbs since becoming a WW member and believes “little moments” deserve recognition and help to keep people motivated while on the programme.

OHMYGOSSIP — Vinnie Jones has returned to work on the upcoming celebrity version of ‘The X Factor’ as he copes with the tragic death of his wife Tanya.
The retired soccer player-turned-actor has been left heartbroken following the passing of his 53-year-old spouse Tanya – whom he married in 1994 – on June 7 following a lengthy battle with skin cancer.
Vinnie, 54, had already committed to taking part in the new version of Simon Cowell’s talent show and has decided to go ahead with appearance and met with production staff and the other contestants in Hollywood.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Vinnie had agreed to be part of the show some time ago but that was before he went through the tragedy of losing his wife. Obviously most of the team expected a phone call saying he wouldn’t be involved any more. But instead he came along and made it clear he wants to throw himself straight into this project.
“It must be incredibly tough for him right now so the producers gave him the option to delay for as long as he wants. But he’s keen to plough on – perhaps something to focus on will help him.”
The ‘Snatch’ star was by Tanya’s bedside at their Los Angeles when she passed away, along with their daughter and other family members.
A statement released by Vinnie’s management said: “At 8.46am local time in Los Angeles on Saturday July 6, Vinnie Jones’s wife, Tanya Jones, passed away after a long illness.
“Tanya passed peacefully at the Jones family home surrounded by Vinnie, their daughter and other family members.
“Vinnie and the family ask for privacy while they go through an understandable period of mourning during this devastating time.”
Back in 2013, Vinnie revealed both he and Tanya had been diagnosed with melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer. Tanya had previously been treated twice for cervical cancer and had undergone an emergency heart transplant at the age of 21.
‘Celebrity X Factor’, and an ‘All-Star X Factor’ featuring past contestants, are set to replace the usual series of ‘The X Factor’ this year, with rumoured names for the celebrity version including ‘TOWIE’ favourite Gemma Collins, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan from ‘The Chase’, and Kevin McHale from ‘Glee’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennie McAlpine was thrown in at the deep end for her ‘Coronation Street’ return.
The 35-year-old soap star – who plays Fiz Stape on the ITV show – returned to the cobbles set earlier this month after going on maternity leave to give birth to her second child, eight-month-old Hilda, and she admitted she had to settle right back into filming without being eased in.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ on Monday (15.07.19), she said: “I’ve got out of the habit of [learning lines], but actually it as just like riding a bike and I kind of just did it.
“They do that to you at ‘Corrie’ – I think they do it on purpose, they’re a bit cruel to be kind – they just threw me right in, day one.”
While Jennie – who also has four-year-old son Albert with her husband Chris Farr – is finding the balance between her work and home life, she conceded she wishes she had more time to focus on each aspect.
She explained: “I think the ideal situation, if you could have it, is parallel universes where I could be at work all the time, which I love, and at home with my babies all the time which I love as well.”
The actress previously admitted she was nervous about being back on set, but bosses had reassured her that there wouldn’t be too much pressure.
She said: “It feels a bit like going back to school after the summer holiday, I’ve got butterflies. I’m worried I don’t have enough space left in my brain to learn all my lines. But the producers have promised I’ll be eased in gently.”
Hilda will be heading to the same nursery Albert went to because there is no creche on the ‘Corrie’ set – but Jennie admitted it is probably for the best because she wouldn’t get much work done if there was one.
She added: “It’s probably a good thing Corrie doesn’t have a crèche. I’d always be disappearing from set to see her. We have a great support network around us too, who can help. We’re very lucky.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Hart thinks her ‘Love Island’ exit was like an “avocado”.
The 26-year-old star – who quit the ITV2 dating show last week after being left devastated when Curtis Pritchard dumped her – has insisted she picked the best time to leave the villa while comparing it to the way an avocado typically takes four to seven days to ripen, while the fruit keeps well for another few days.
She told ITV’s ‘Loose Women’: “I was like a little avocado. I had a very small window of opportunity to leave – avocados are only ripe for a very small time, aren’t they?
“If I’d left the week before, I’d have been leaving going, ‘I hope karma gets you in the end’. If I’d stayed, it would’ve just gone downhill.
“I was really strong, I sat by the pool, I just thought, ‘I don’t have to be here, I’m not gonna meet anyone else, he’s never gonna be happy whilst I’m here’. I know what he’s like, and he would not rub anything in my face.”
Meanwhile, the air stewardess also heaped praise on her former co-star Ovie Soko while revealing the sweet advice her gave her in the villa.
According to Amy, the 28-year-old hunk told her: “Amy, love is like a potion and you have to drink it.
“Sometimes it will choke you and make you sick, but sometimes it will make you inebriated that it’s the best thing in the world. But you have to drink the potion to find out which one it’s going to be.”
Amy previously admitted suffering a break-up in the villa was the “best place” for her to have done so, because she received so much support from the ‘Love Island’ production team and her fellow Islanders.
She said: “I cannot stress how much I was supported form all the production team, everyone and also my fellow islanders who knew what happened from start to finish. Going through heartbreak in the villa … it was the best place for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ beauty Lucie Donlan was “relieved” to leave the villa.
The blonde beauty has opened up after she was dumped from the ITV2 dating show during last week’s recoupling, and she insisted she had a “fair run” with no regrets about the experience by the time she left.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Monday (15.07.19), she said: “I was actually quite relieved because I felt like it was my time to go.
“I had a lot of chances, I went with how I felt each time with a different guy. I feel like I naturally went wish was nice. I had a fair run.”
The 21-year-old star has been keeping tabs on the events on the island since leaving, and she has picked her friend Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan to win the reality show despite their explosive row on Sunday (14.07.19).
She added: “I’d like Anton and Belle to win. I know what happened last night but I’d love them to win.”
Despite this, Lucie admitted last week she would love to return to the villa and mix it up with the contestants again.
She recently explained: “I would definitely want to go back into the villa! I was loving it. After Casa Amor, I got to know George [Rains] and that didn’t go how I thought it would and then I realised I liked Tommy [Fury].
“Although I liked him romantically, he was my best friend so it was nice to see your best friend so happy. At the same time, I was a bit gutted. I would love to go back in and just have fun with everyone.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lacey Turner has given birth to a baby girl.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress and her husband Matt Kay welcomed their first child into the world on Friday (12.07.19) and, according to OK! Online, the new parents are “over the moon and filled with joy”.
It is not yet known what the baby’s name is or her weight and time of birth.
The 31-year-old actress previously admitted she felt “really nervous” about having a baby after suffering two miscarriages in the past, both seven weeks into the pregnancy.
She said: “We were really nervous, but you have to say to yourself, ‘Right, we really want this, let’s try again’.
“We tried and tried, and we were just getting nowhere, and 18 months had gone by, still nothing. You get to the point where you think, I don’t know if this is going to happen to us.”
After taking monthly pregnancy tests, the couple – who got married in 2017 – found out they were expecting a baby in November last year, and Lacey admitted she couldn’t wait to “nurture” her baby.
She said: “I can’t wait to nurture our baby – we’ve dreamed of having a family for so long. When you’ve lost babies all you care about is the heartbeat – we’ve had about 12 scans.”
The star – who is best known for her role as Stacey Fowler in BBC soap ‘EastEnders’ – previously admitted she felt as though her “whole world had fallen to pieces” when she lost her babies.
She added: “I blamed myself thinking that I’d done something wrong. I’d think, ‘Why me? What did I do?’ But, of course, I hadn’t done anything wrong – it’s all down to chromosomes and luck, really.
“Speaking to other people about it helped me. Women shouldn’t feel ashamed to talk about it as it happens to so many women.”

The ‘Love Island’ couple’s romance is on the rocks following their explosive row on Sunday night’s (14.07.19) episode, which left the 24-year-old hunk sleeping on the sofa after the 21-year-old star blasted her villa beau for choosing to kiss Anna Vakili, 29, during a challenge.
Speaking to the 21-year-old beauty the next day, he says: “I slept on the couch because I felt like it was an emotional rollercoaster last night.
“Regardless of the situation, I think we’re going to disagree. The bottom line is that you feel I’ve mugged you off and I feel like you’ve mugged me off.”
Belle insists she is “scared of being hurt again”, but admits she needs to work on controlling her temper.
She responds: “I know that I am a hot-head and that is something I have to work on. When I’ve fell for someone, they’ve hurt me and I’m scared of being hurt again.”
While Anton still feels like he was treated unfairly with their row, he wants to get their relationship back on track if Belle also wants to “work” on their pairing.
He adds: “You’ve got so many good qualities that I’m looking for. Yes, you’re a bit fiery and yes maybe you mugged me off a bit yesterday but there is so much good in you.
“I feel like if you want to work at this, we can just get back to where we were. If that is what you want as well?”
It remains to be seen if Belle is ready to forgive Anton, and if she can give their blossoming romance a second chance.

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Peaky Blinders’ star Karl Shiels has died at the age of 47.
The actor – who played the character Ryan in the BBC drama in 2013 and is also famous for his role as Robbie Quinn in Irish soap ‘Fair City’ – passed away suddenly on Sunday (14.07.19).
His agent Lisa Richard confirmed the tragic news in a statement to RTE – the broadcaster of ‘Fair City’ – saying: “We are deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our client and friend Karl Shiels.
“Karl was a uniquely talented individual, simultaneously intense, lighthearted, funny, sharp witted, outspoken and intensely powerful as an actor, director and artistic director of the Theatre Upstairs – where he was such a support and mentor for young writers, actors and directors – and of his own company Semper Fi before that.
“Our hearts are broken but today our thoughts are with his partner Laura and his family, his children and their mother Dearbhla and his many close friends among whom we count ourselves lucky to have been for so many years.”
Brigie de Courcy, executive producer of ‘Fair City’, also paid tribute to Karl and praised his portrayal of Robbie Quinn in the long-running serial.
Brigie said: “Joining ‘Fair City’ in 2014, Karl Shiels made his mark immediately playing the formidable Robbie Quinn, and always brought such, warmth, talent and humour to Carrigstown.
“We are absolutely devastated and he will be so greatly missed by the entire cast and crew. Our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly sad time.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Chimonides has been booted off ‘Love Island’.
The 22-year-old was chosen by her fellow islanders to leave the villa after her and Michael Griffiths were chosen as the least favourite couple.
As she and Michael heard their fate, Joanna walked away from the firefighter as he tried to console her, telling him that if he really did like her like he said, he would walk out of the villa with her.
But speaking following her exit, Joanna was more reflective about the possibility of a relationship with Michael.
She said: “Part of me expected Michael to leave with me, however I don’t want to be in control of someone’s life journey and if he wants to continue in the villa, to get to know someone else or see where things go, I’ve got respect for that. It is a bit disappointing but I’d never hold that against him. I am a bit in limbo about how I’m feeling about Michael. We got along well and had lots in common and laughed together but for me I need to put it on pause and then we can see what happens when he leaves the villa.”
And Joanna insists she will be happy for Michael and Amber Gill if he chooses to go back to her now she has left the villa.
She said: “I want to live my best life and continue being me and not changing for anyone. Me and Michael will have to see how he gets on whilst he is in the villa and when he gets out, so for now there is a pause on us. You never know if he’s going to crack on with Amber. If they’re meant to be, they will be. If they do get together and are happy, I’ll be happy for them.”
