Faye Brookes ‘excited’ for post-Corrie career after filming final scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Brookes is “so excited” for the next stage of her career.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress has said farewell to the cobbles after four years as Kate Connor, and while it was emotional filming her final scenes on Friday (19.07.19), she’s still looking forward to what comes next.
She wrote on Instagram: “Cannot put into words how I felt filming my last few episodes as Kate Connor @coronationstreet But all I can say is that there was a lot of love in the room that day…
“It’s always sad to say goodbye, But when a chapter ends another story begins & I’m so exited about what’s to come … Nevertheless I will miss playing that feisty Connor but I’ll cherish every second spent with my Corrie Family.
“The challenges I faced, the experiences I had, the lessons I learnt, the People I met, the laughs, the hugs & even the tears. All I have to say is Bring it On! See you all on the other side Thank you… Next (sic)”
Meanwhile, her co-star Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) has opened up about saying “goodbye” to her former cast mate, and she revealed they have vowed to “stay in touch” even though they won’t be working together.
She wrote in her OK! magazine column: “Last week I also said goodbye to my co-star Faye Brookes, who has now filmed her final scenes at ‘Corrie’.
“We play cousins and have worked closely together for a long time, so I’m sad to see her go but we’ve promised we’ll stay in touch.”
Faye’s last day of filming comes after she recently confirmed she had landed a role in the panto production of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’.
Posting the news on Instagram last month, she said: “Here it is… the official announcement of @brumhippodrome Panto 2019

Hollyoaks love story for returning Luke Morgan and Cindy Cunningham

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Morgan and Cindy Cunningham are set for a ‘Hollyoaks’ love story.
Gary Lucy’s alter ego is set to return to the soap this year, and after previously teasing a “surprising relationship” it seems Stephanie Waring’s character will be linked to him for his big comeback.
Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood told Digital Spy: “We take our time with the love story. Cindy and Luke do fall into bed together, but they don’t fall in love with each other immediately!
“It’s great to see that strong, magnificent and sexy side of Cindy coming out. It felt like maybe she’d been demoted to being a supporting character, but this next year is going to be huge for her.”
The show’s bosses wanted to make sure Luke’s return was about the future rather than the past, and Bryan admitted the fact Cindy is Luke’s ex Mandy Richardson’s (Sarah Jayne Dunn) stepsister adds another wrinkle to the story.
He added: “We really wanted Luke to come back and look forward this time, rather than looking backwards. He is also one of our all-time icons and is loved by the viewers.
“What’s messy in this situation is that Cindy is Mandy’s stepsister and that gives us great territory to explore.”
Earlier this year, it was revealed Gary would be back on the soap – after taking a break during his character Luke’s stint behind bars – this summer.
While viewers know he is baby DJ’s father, his other son Ollie (Aedan Duckworth) has lied about the DNA test results and claimed Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) is the dad.
Bryan recently teased: “We’re really happy about October this year. We want to deliver our best stunt yet for the audience. Year after year, viewers tell us that the autumn stunt is one of the highlights of their enjoyment of the show.
“What’s fantastic this time is that we’ll be including some story threads which have been lying low, such as the paternity of DJ. We have a big love story that will explode, literally! And we have some eye-watering stunts as always.

Kym Marsh wants Corrie to do live episode for 60th anniversary

OHMYGOSSIP — Kym Marsh would love another live ‘Coronation Street’ special.
The soap star – who has played Michelle Connor for 13 years on the cobbles – has backed calls for a celebratory episode for the show’s 60th anniversary in 2020, even though she won’t be part of the cast by then.
Writing in her column for OK! magazine, she said: “Jack P. Shepherd has hinted that ‘Corrie’ will do a live episode for the 60th anniversary next year. Nothing has been confirmed yet but I think that would be great.
“I was involved in the last live episode and it was an adrenaline rush. Going live can be daunting but it was such a brilliant thing to be a part of.
“Sadly I won’t be around for the 60th anniversary but I’ll certainly be tuning in.”
‘Corrie’ aired its first ever live episode in 2000, with specials following in 2010 and 2015.
Jack – who plays David Platt – recently suggested the show should do it again to mark next year’s huge milestone.
He previously said: “A live, we’re doing a live! No, I just made that up! I assume it will be that!
“I love ’em… A lot of the cast get petrified which is understandable. I like the buzz of it. It’s really nice being on one of them, because everybody really gets an input, and feels part of it, much more than the day to day stuff.
“The night is amazing, with hundreds of people involved, and the after party. So yeah I like doing them. I’ve done three now. I was the first person on screen in the 40th one. I was kicking a ball.”
Kym won’t be involved this time round after she confirmed earlier this year she is leaving the soap after more than a decade.

Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie to be MCU’s first LGBTQ hero

OHMYGOSSIP — Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie will be the first openly LGBTQ+ superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 35-year-old actress has revealed that her alter ego – who is bisexual in the original comics and appears in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ – needs to find a “queen” leading Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to reveal that Valkyrie will be the first openly gay hero in the MCU.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, she said: “As new king, she needs to find her queen. So that will be the first order of business.
“She has some ideas. I’ll keep you posted!”
When then asked if what Thompson said means Valkyrie will have an LGBTQ+ storyline, Feige told io9: “The answer is yes.
“How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just ‘Thor 4’.”
It was also announced at San Diego Comic-Con that ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ will see Natalie Portman return to the franchise and will play a female version of Asgardian hero Thor in the fourth instalment of the franchise.
The Oscar-winning actress previously starred as Jane Foster, the love interest of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in the first two ‘Thor’ films released in 2011 and 2013.
Similarly, Taika Waititi is returning to the Marvel brand to direct ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ having previously helmed 2017’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ – meaning his highly-anticipated manga movie ‘Akira’ for Warner Bros. is likely to be delayed due to his ‘Thor’ commitments.
It’s hoped he will return to work on the Japanese-American sci-fi film, which is based on the manga character of the same name, after he’s completed the fourth instalment of the Marvel flick which is slated for release on May 21, 2021.

Guillermo del Toro thinks Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark benefits from 60s setting

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro says it was “important” to set the movie version of ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ in the 1960s because the decade will have a big impact on the characters.
The 53-year-old filmmaker is the producer of the big screen adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s collection of short horror stories, originally set in the 1980s, and he thinks the change of decade will provide a more intense cinematic experience as the characters won’t have modern technology such as “Google and cell phones” to rely on and he feels the “less resources they have, the better”.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, he said: “It was important to set it in the 60s. The less resources they have, the better. They don’t have Google, cell phones. The other reason is because stories travelled slower, but deeper.”
‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ will tell the story of a group of teens who try to solve the mystery surrounding historic deaths in their town.
Guillermo has been attached to the horror project for a number of years and he was originally poised to direct the movie, but Andre Ovredal ultimately took the director’s child and the Norwegian filmmaker admitted making the movie was like fulfilling a childhood dream for him.
He said: “I think we were making a movie for ourselves at age 12”.
Guillermo added: “There are three generations that have gone through these books. We always felt this is something kids and fathers could watch.”
The ‘Shape of Water’ director went on to explain that he was attracted to the novel series as he felt the stories were “creepy and engaging”.
He said: “What immediately grabbed my attention was the artwork. They were so creepy and so engaging. They have the strength and tempo of a fireside tale.”
However, the ‘Hellboy’ filmmaker didn’t want to create an anthology-style film because “they’re always as bad as their worst story”.

Bruce Campbell laughs off Mysterio rumours

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Campbell has shut down rumours that he almost played Mysterio in a ‘Spider-Man’ sequel.
The supervillain made his big screen debut in this year’s Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ – the follow up to 2017’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ – with Jake Gyllenhaal portraying the character opposite Tom Holland as Peter Parker.
There has been much speculation that Campbell was in-line to play the original Mysterio – special effects wizard and stunt man Quentin Beck, who uses his expertise to pursue a life of crime after failing in his ambitions to become a rich and famous actor – in a scrapped fourth instalment in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ series but the 61-year-old actor insists it was never discussed.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, Campbell said: “Boy is that … that’s a really popular rumour. That one is just, ‘Oh my God, what about Mysterio?’
“Thanks for telling me, Internet! I never got a call from Sam going, ‘If only if I had done part four, you would have been Mysterio!’ No”
Campbell had a cameo in 2002 film ‘Spider-Man’ – which kicked off the Tobey Maguire-led series.
He and Raimi have been friends since high school and Campbell has starred in many of the filmmaker’s projects including his breakout movie, 1981 horror classic ‘The Evil Dead’.
Campbell’s comments come after Raimi admitted he thinks about his unmade fourth ‘Spider-Man’ movie “all the time”.
The 59-year-old filmmaker said: “I think about it all the time. It’s hard not to because each summer another ‘Spider-Man’ film comes out!
“So when you have an unborn one, you can’t help but think what might have been. But I try to focus on what will be, and not look into the past.”

Lucy Mecklenburgh ‘threw up’ after Ryan Thomas proposed

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas has revealed his fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh “threw up” everywhere after accepting his proposal.
The couple recently got engaged after the former ‘Coronation Street’ star popped the question on a romantic trip to Italy, and now the Ryan, 34, has revealed he had to hold his beau’s “hair back” whilst she was sick following a nightclub visit because she was so “overwhelmed” with his proposal.
In an interview with the new issue of OK! magazine, he said: “For some reason we thought it would be a great idea to go to a nightclub. We got there and immediately regretted it so walked back out again and went to a beach bar. And then she threw up!”
Lucy added: “I don’t know if it was the excitement of the champagne but I threw up as soon as we got to the bar! Poor Ryan had to hold my hair back. I’d only had a couple of drinks so I think it was because I was feeling so overwhelmed!”
And the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner has also spilled that the 27-year-old ‘TOWIE’ star kept him “waiting for ages” because she was in “total shock” with the proposal, and then the loved-up pair “both started crying” tears of joy.
Lucy said: “The minute I sat down at our table, Ryan got down on one knee and pulled out a ring and said, ‘I love you so much. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, will you marry me?'”
Ryan added: “She kept me waiting for ages before she said yes! I kept having to repeat the question as she wasn’t answering me. She was just sat there with her hands over her mouth squealing, ‘Oh my God. You’re kidding me? Oh my God.’ ”
Lucy added: “I was in total shock! I said yes and then we both started crying.”

Bill Hader says It Chapter Two is like the Lord of the Rings of horror

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘It Chapter Two’ star Bill Hader has described the sequel as “an epic horror” that feels like ‘The Lord of the Rings’.
The 41-year-old actor plays the adult Richie Tozier in the sequel and after being shown a number of scenes by director he was left in doubt that the director and the cast have created something truly special in the horror genre.
Speaking to Indiewire, Hader said: “Andy Muschetti played me scenes, and just the scope of it is so big. It’s bigger than the first one… It’s an epic horror film. It feels like ‘Lord of the Rings’ or something, just, ‘Whoa! This is cool!’ ”
The sequel to the $700 million grossing ‘It’, which continues the adaptation of the Stephen King novel, stars Hader, James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, James Ransone and Andy Bean as the adult members of The Losers’ Club who battled Pennywise the Clown in the first film.
Hader, who takes over from ‘Stranger Things’ actor Finn Wolfhard to play Richie, said the production is “massive” and admits it was like being on Steven Spielberg-produced ‘The Goonies’ and he also enjoyed meeting the young cast from the first ‘It’ movie.
He said: “It was like being in ‘The Goonies’. And then talking to the younger kids, ‘Did you guys just have the best time ever doing this?’ ”
Hader – who won an Emmy for his performance as a hitman in the dark comedy ‘Barry’ – has also revealed that he suffered an injury on the set of ‘It Chapter Two’ from doing his own stunts.
He shared: “Everyone did their own stunts on this movie. James McAvoy is jumping off 10-foot tall things, and PJ Ransone, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, all these people are doing really cool stunts. Jessica is doing all this crazy stuff – I had to run 10 feet, and I pulled my groin muscle.”
Hader also revealed that he and his castmates had to rely on shaving cream to remove all the blood and “crap” they were covered in at the end of a day’s shooting.
He said: “At the end of every day, you’d just have crap all over you – dirt, tons of fake blood, sweat, and all that stuff. And to get it off of you, they’d put shaving cream on you. They’d put shaving cream on your arms, your legs, your face, your neck, your ears. They’d just douse you with old school shaving cream, [that] has some chemical in it that cleans the stuff off better than anything.”

Amber Gill and Michael Griffith’s steamy kiss

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Amber Gill will be torn between two guys after Michael Griffiths kisses her and confesses he still has feelings for her.
Although Michael dumped Amber for Joanna Chimonides – who was evicted from the villa this week – he is set to apologise to Amber on Thursday’s (18.07.19) show and tell her he still likes her after seeing her growing close to newcomer Greg O’Shea.
Michael will tell Amber: “The situation that I am in now has given me time to clarify a few things in my head. It’s given me time to think and realise ‘I do like Amber’. I can only apologise about how I was over the last few weeks. I’m just letting you know that I do still like you.”
Amber is surprised by Michael’s admission and says:”I don’t get it. If you liked me the whole time, why would you do that? Would you still have done this if Joanna was still here?”
Michael answers: “Yes. I would have to have this conversation. I knew that I still liked you. I just kept denying it to myself.”
The conversation leaves Amber in shock as she later says: “I actually cannot believe what is happening! I cannot believe Michael of all people, pushed his pride to the side and said how he really felt.”
Meanwhile, in the challenge to find the villa’s buffest builder, both men will choose Amber to be their partner.
While the challenge can end with a kiss, Greg decides on a kiss on the cheek, saying: “I thought it was better off giving her a little peck on the cheek and treating her like the lovely lady she is!”
However, it leaves Amber disappointed as she says: “I wouldn’t have minded if Greg had kissed me!”
And Michael decides to take his chance, by planting a steamy smooch on her lips.
There is set to be a recoupling on the show and Amber has a tough decision to make as the girls will hold all the power.
Maura Higgins will receive a text saying: “Islanders. Tonight, there will be a recoupling in which the girls will choose which boy they want to couple up with. #manofthemoment.”

Joanna Chimonides: The Love Island villa is haunted

OHMYGOSSIP — Joanna Chimonides thinks the ‘Love Island’ villa is haunted.
The 22-year-old beauty was recently dumped from the ITV2 reality show, and has said part of her is pleased to no longer be inside the villa, as she’s convinced there’s a mysterious blonde woman haunting the bedroom after fellow islander Jourdan Riane claimed to have seen her “bent over her bed”.
She said: “We had some weird stuff happen in the villa while I was there. We think the place is haunted.
“One time Jourdan [Riane] was convinced she had seen a ghost. She said she had been woken up suddenly and there was this blonde woman bent over her bed and rocking back and forwards. She said it looked like Belle [Hassan] but of course it wasn’t her.
“I said to her, ‘Did you actually see a ghost?’ and she was totally convinced. It freaked us all out.”
And it’s not just spooky sightings that have freaked out the contestants, as Joanna also says the creepy crawlies native to Spain – where the villa is located – “are like aliens”.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column, she added: “The crawlies and creatures that come into that villa are like aliens. I have never seen some of them before. We have got insects the size of birds flying around us. The wildlife is insane.”
Meanwhile, Joanna recently said she finds it “hard to watch” the show now that she’s left the villa, as Michael Griffiths confessed to still having feelings for Amber Gill earlier this week, even though he originally dumped her for Joanna when she joined the show in Casa Amor.
The recruitment consultant said in an Instagram Story: “So obviously I’ve had to just pause the TV purely because for me being stand-offish is more me having respect for those in in the villa because someone else is hurting in there. It’s hard for me to watch this right now, I’m not gonna lie.
“That was so hard for me to watch and right now I just don’t have any words. It’s so difficult.”

Sir Billy Connolly making TV return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Billy Connolly is making a new documentary series for ITV.
The 76-year-old star announced in December he was giving up stand-up comedy because of his battle with Parkinson’s disease, but he’s not retiring completely as he’ll be travelling across the US for three-part series ‘Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail’.
The programme will see Billy chat to experts and decenends of immigrants as he follow the route Scottish immigrants took after they first landed in America in the early 18th Century.
A show insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Billy admitted earlier this year that Parkinson’s was taking its toll and he could no longer cope with live performances.
“But after ITV producers offered him a new adventure in the US, where he has spent half his life living, he decided it was too good to miss.
“He’s been secretly working on the project and filmed footage for the show in March and June. It’s going to be welcome news for his fans who thought he was going to be retiring for good.”
‘Billy Connolly’s Great American Trail’ will be broadcast in a primetime slot this autumn.
The comedy legend was diagnosed with
the incurable disorder – which leaves him shaking and struggling to move – in 2013, and recently admitted he feels like his life is “slipping away” from him.
He said: “My life, it’s slipping away and I can feel it and I should. “I’m 76, I’m near the end. I’m a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning.
“But it doesn’t frighten me, it’s an adventure and it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away.”
The Glaswegian actor – who has Scarlett, 30, Daisy, 35, and 32-year-old Amy with wife Pamela Stephenson and Jamie, 50, and Cara, 46, with ex-wife Iris – says he’s struggling to hear, see and remember like he used to.
He said: “As bits slip off and leave me, talents leave and attributes leave.
“I don’t have the balance I used to have, I don’t have the energy I used to have.
“I can’t hear the way I used to hear, I can’t see as good as I used to. I can’t remember the way I used to remember.”

Matt Damon to star in Stillwater

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Damon is set to star in ‘Stillwater’.
The 48-year-old actor will team up with director Tom McCarthy for the new project, which sees him playing an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma, who travels to France to visit his estranged daughter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Stillwater’ follows the story of Matt’s character in Marseille in France, where his daughter has been imprisoned for a murder she claims she didn’t commit.
Faced with language barriers, cultural differences and a complicated legal system, Matt’s character – who remains unnamed as of the time of writing – makes it his personal mission to exonerate his daughter, and in the process, develops a friendship with a local woman and her young daughter.
The story is said to be one that explores a personal journey of discovery and a larger sense of belonging in the world.
Production on the flick is set to start in August, with Jonathan King, Liza Chasin, and Tom McCarthy producing, while the late Steve Golin will also be receiving a posthumous producing credit.
Jeff Skoll and Mari Jo Winkler-Ioffreda will executive produce, while Participant Media are producing and financing the movie through Amblin Partners.
For Matt, ‘Stillwater’ won’t be the only film in which he’s set to play a character who works in the oil industry, as last year it was reported he would be taking on the lead role in ‘The King of Oil’, a biographical flick based on the autobiography ‘The King of Oil: The Secret Lives of Marc Rich’, written by Daniel Ammann.
Matt would star as Marc Rich, a fugitive billionaire commodities trader that was pardoned by President Bill Clinton on his last day in office, in what proved to be a controversial decision for the leader.
Marc became richest and most powerful commodities trader of the century, and in 1983 he was indicted on 65 criminal counts, including tax evasion.
The autobiography also detailed Marc’s illegal dealings with Iran during the hostage crisis and his quiet cooperation with the Cuban, Israeli and US governments.
Marc never faced a judge or jury for his crimes as he was in Switzerland when he was indicted and remained abroad until his passing in 2013 at the age of 78.

Tom Cruise had ‘responsibility’ to make Top Gun 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise felt a “responsibility” to make a ‘Top Gun’ sequel.
The 57-year-old actor made a surprise appearance at Comic Con on Thursday (18.07.19), where he introduced a trailer for the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick’ – in whcih he reprises his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell – and thanked fans for being patient enough to wait over 30 years for the new film.
He said: “34 years ago, I made a movie in San Diego and shot across the street in a restaurant.

Meanwhile, Jon Hamm – wh has a mystery role in the film – recently promised the sequel will be “mind-blowing”.
He said: “We’re shooting the movie in 6K, so it’s incredibly high-def.
“The aerial footage is mind-blowing.
