Scarlett Johansson ‘very excited’ for Black Widow

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Johansson is “very excited” for ‘Black Widow’.
The 34-year-old actress – who plays the international spy and assassin Natasha Romanoff and superhero in the hotly-anticipated movie – is thrilled to be donning the costume again but admits it has been hard talking about the film because she doesn’t want to give any secrets away.
She told E! News: “I’m very excited about it, and I have to say, I was nervous coming here because we’re in the middle of shooting right now, so it’s not a time that you could ever share anything with anybody on any side of the movie, particularly in this universe, where everything is just so huge and the pressure’s on. But I’m really, really proud of what we showed today.”
The ‘Black Widow’ movie has been handed a May 1, 2020 release date and Johansson can’t wait “for fans to see the flawed side” of her character.
She added: “I get to play Natasha as a fully realised woman and in all of her many facets, I’m excited for fans to see the flawed side of her, what she perceives to be the flawed side of her, and I’m looking to wipe out some of that red in my ledger so you guys will be seeing more of that.”
Whilst director Cate Shortland shared: “I think that’s what drew me to the story, she’s got so many secrets, she’s got so much vulnerability and I think that’s what makes her such a great heroine. In this film we get to understand her past and put the pieces of herself together and come out a whole person.”

Linda Hamilton protective of Terminator character

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Hamilton is very protective of her ‘Terminator’ character Sarah Connor.
The 62-year-old actor admitted she was worried about reprising her famous role for the new movie ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ but when she did sign up to the movie, she felt a huge responsibility to let director Tim Miller know when she was unhappy with some of Sarah’s lines,
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “I’m not usually that actress that goes, “Oh my character!” I try to do whatever is asked of me and make it work. I’m not going to think it all to death. I have never been that actress, but I was a little bit on this film because I am the authority on Sarah Connor.
“There was an approach thing that I had to sort out with Tim because Tim was shooting it like an independent, as he keeps saying. I still – because I haven’t seen it – barely understand what that means But, in terms of approach, he wanted her “relatable”. That was the word he used. And I was like Sarah Connor has never been relatable! She was relatable in the first movie as a nice waitress, but what do you mean “relatable”? You are trying to make her softer? I just knew that with the time that had passed and as her situation changed, she ain’t relatable.
“But I would go, ‘Nope, I am not saying that.’ And a couple of times I was like, ‘I am not saying that. That’s stupid.’ I have always been empowered to say those things but I just have never been that person. I just care so intensely about this character that I had to step up and toe the line about what felt right and what didn’t feel right.”
Linda is reprising her role as Sarah for the first time since the 1991 film, ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ and she admitted she was initially worried that fans would judge her appearance.
She said: “I knew right away that the first thing some longtime fans may think is ‘Aw she looks so old’ or ‘Her arms aren’t the same’. But that is just human nature, now, everyone cares about the outside shells. I really don’t want to have anything to do with that. But one understands the immediate response with be: ‘Holy sh*t, she’s so different.’ But, in the end, I embraced that. I know internally I have so much more experience and a rich life to pull from for Sarah Connor, so as long as I dug deep and bring out all of that.”

Michael Griffiths wants to get back with Joanna Chimonides

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Griffiths is hoping Joanna Chimonides will take him back.
The firefighter was booted out of the ‘Love Island’ villa during Sunday night’s (21.07.19) show and despite just recently confessing his feelings to ex Amber Gill, Michael wants to give it a go with Joanna.
He said: “Ultimately I am hoping Joanna will take me back, I am hoping that’s the case. It’s just whether Joanna will speak to me or not. I am excited to speak to her but I don’t know how, or if, she is going to speak to me.”
And if Joanna didn’t want to get back with Michael, he confessed he would be “upset” as “everyone makes mistakes”.
He added: “I would be upset but it’s one of those things, everyone makes mistakes. I hope that I could work towards [getting back with Joanna] but if she doesn’t want to revisit it then she doesn’t want to revisit it.”
Michael has left the villa on a good note with ex Amber and wished her and Greg O’Shea well as they continue on the show.
He told The Sun Online: “We spoke before I left and basically I wished her well. We are friends and I did say that I do actually see her and Greg working as I see how much he makes her smile. Seeing that actually makes me quite happy. That’s the cherry on tip of the cake really as it made me realise that I do actually cherish Amber’s friendship. I am really happy that she is happy now … Me and Amber cleared everything up when we chatted in the lounge and I knew I was directing my frustration at her. I was thinking, ‘why am I doing this? I am just hurting a friend.’ When Amber and I cleared everything up, she kind of laughed it off. She knew me more than anyone else in the villa did. We left things on a really nice note, we are actually friends.”

Nigella praises daughter’s support after Saatchi split

OHMYGOSSIP — Nigella Lawson’s daughter helped her to find happiness again after her divorce.
The 59-year-old TV chef had an acrimonious split from Charles Saatchi, 76, in 2013 after 10 years of marriage and Nigella said her daughter Cosima Diamond, 25 – from her first marriage to the late John Diamond – helped her cope.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, she said: “I have been forced to be guarded. I used to be more open and I’d like to think I will be again.
“Cosima said to me, ‘Mum, would you rather be a real person like you or someone who has hair and make- up done to go to the supermarket? It is better to be a real person.’ She’s right.”
Nigella also praised her son Bruno for his support, but admitted that both of her children love to tease her too.
She said: “When I am on TV I cook the food that I cook at home but my children always tease me. I do a running commentary at home of my life like I do on TV.”
Meanwhile, Nigella previously admitted that moving on after her split from Charles was tough, for a number of reasons including financial.
She admitted: “I had to start my life again at 53, get a mortgage at an age when you’re supposed to be paying it all off.
“I do have to work. But I only do a TV programme every other year. It’s not like I’m there all the time.”

Anita Dobson ‘would never have met’ Brian May without iconic EastEnders episode

OHMYGOSSIP — Anita Dobson “would never have met” Brian May if it wasn’t for her record breaking ‘EastEnders’ episode.
The 70-year-old actress played Albert Square icon Angie Watts from 1985 to 1988, and she admitted their memorable 1986 scene which saw Dirty Den (Leslie Grantham) serve her character divorce papers was a turning point in her life as a whole.
Appearing on ‘Sunday Brunch’ (21.07.19), she said: “I think people miss Angie and Den. It was kind of my breakthrough moment, in a way.
“I was in the business for about 13 years and suddenly that happened and everything took off. It was insane. I would never have met my husband if that hadn’t happened.”
The episode – which aired on Christmas Day in 1986 – was watched by a huge audience of 30.2 million viewers.
The same year, Anita met Queen guitarist Brian – who later revealed the band’s 1989 hit ‘I Want It All’ was inspired by the soap star – and they married in 2000.
She previously described the experience of so many people tuning in as “wonderful and magical”, and she was “thrilled” when the BBC broadcast the episode again last year.
She said at the time: “I’m absolutely thrilled because to have made something that’s so iconic and that people are actually watching again — as well as a new generation — is wonderful and magical. I can hold it up as an achievement in my life.
“It was insane. People were following me home in cars, singing outside my window at my flat, I couldn’t go to pubs or supermarkets or walk down the street. It was bizarre but that was my life. How exciting I got to do that.”

Danny Miller pledges future to Emmerdale but doesn’t take it for granted

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Miller has pledged his future to ‘Emmerdale’ for “as long as they’ll” have him.
The soap star – who has been playing Aaron Sugden-Dingle for over a decade now – revealed that despite co-star Ryan Hawley (Robert Sugden-Dingle) being set to exit the show, he has no plans to leave.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column, he said: “It’s been 11 years now and there really is nothing like being called upstairs about a big storyline.
“I’m still buzzing about what’s coming up. I’m happy to stay as long as they’ll have me. I’d just turned 17 when I first started at ‘Emmerdale’.
“I never expected it, I never trained for it, I just fell into it. I initially signed up for six months and I never expected it to last.”
And while the 28-year-old star is excited for what’s the come, he admitted he doesn’t “take any of it for granted”, as he never assumes he’ll be kept on.
He added: “When I look back at those early years I’m happy to admit that a lot of the time I felt like a fraud. But I worked hard and I learned from some of the best in the business.
“And even now, I never expect a new contract, because I think you can become a bit too comfortable which can make you lazy. I never take any of it for granted.”
Meanwhile, Danny recently admitted he is heart-broken about Ryan’s upcoming exit from the ITV soap.
He made a quip about his on-screen husband Robert’s departure from the Dales, but soon backtracked when a fan insisted it is “too soon for jokes”.
In response to the supporter of Robron – the nickname given to Robert and Aaron Sugden-Dingle – he wrote: “I’m right there with you, trust me. It’s merely a defence mechanism to hide my true feelings.. [heart-broken emoji]. (sic)”

Amanda Holden was nearly cast as Bond girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Holden was nearly cast as a Bond girl.
The 48-year-old actress-and-presenter auditioned for the role of Miranda Frost in 2001 film ‘Die Another Day’, which starred Pierce Brosnan in his fourth and final outing as 007, and carried out a sword fight for a screen test.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge’s audition has been revealed in an unearthed audition call sheet, however, Amanda lost out of the part of to Rosamund Pike.
Speaking to the Mail On Sunday newspaper, a source said: “Amanda Holden auditioned for the role and was very good but the producers ended up choosing Rosamund who went on to become a massive movie star. I wonder if Amanda thinks about what might have been? Amanda’s been very successful but every actress dreams of playing a Bond girl, and who knows where it might have taken her career?”
Amanda has now joked that she’d be “happy” to try out for a role in another Bond movie as she thinks it would be “brilliant” for 007 to have a counter-part “roughly the same age” as him.
She said: “I think it would be brilliant for Bond to have an equivalent female sidekick roughly the same age. I’m not sure how I’d fit a film into my schedule but I’d be more than happy to revisit Pinewood Studios and do a sword fight in my pants again!”
Rosamund, 40, previously confessed that she refused to undress when she was asked to stand in her “underwear” during her audition for ‘Die Another Day’ at the age of 21.
She said: “My first audition was for a Bond film and I remember them saying I was to drop my dress and appear in my underwear.
“On the day, I don’t know how I got the resolve and strength of mind, but I just thought if they’re gonna see me in my underwear, they better give me the job. So, I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m going to take off a dress in the audition for this tape to be sent around Los Angeles and to be judged on that.’ ”

Matt Groening confirms Simpsons sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Groening says there is “no doubt” that there will be another ‘Simpsons’ movie.
The 65-year-old cartoonist – who created the beloved animated series – has insisted that following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox earlier this year, there will definitely be a follow-up to the 2007 movie version of the comedy show.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, he said: “No doubt there will be another Simpsons movie one of these days. I think Disney wants something for its money.”
‘The Simpsons Movie’ saw the titular family having to leave their hometown Springfield, which has been quarantined under a giant glass dome after Homer accidentally polluted the town’s lake with his pet pig. The movie grossed over $527 million worldwide.
Although the animator is convinced there will be another big-screen version of the cartoon at some point, he confessed that the original film “neatly killed” the series.
He said: “This is a true answer. The first ‘Simpsons’ movie almost killed us. We didn’t have a B-team waiting to do ‘The Simpsons Movie’, so the same people who wrote, animated, voiced and did the music for ‘The Simpsons’ TV show also did the movie. That was in 2007. We’re almost recovered, almost.”
Season 30 of ‘The Simpsons’ recently ended, after first airing on September 30, 2018, and it has since been renewed for Seasons 31 and Seasons 32 and it is coming up to celebrating 700 episodes.
The show is the longest-running American sitcom and the longest-running American scripted primetime television series both in terms of seasons and number of episodes.

Susan Boyle could snub Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions due to scheduling conflicts

OHMYGOSSIP — Susan Boyle may be dropping out of ‘Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions’.
The ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ singer – who was runner-up on Simon Cowell’s show in 2009 and has become a huge star – could be forced to miss the special series because of scheduling conflicts.
A spokesperson told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Susan has a busy year ahead with lots of performances coming up, trips to the US, headlining BBC Proms in September, as well as preparing for her upcoming tour.
“She is enjoying celebrating the decade since she first appeared on ‘BGT’ and her life changing for the better.
“She loved being part of ‘AGT Champions’ and, whether she is able to make it or not, wishes the contestants taking part on ‘BGT Champions’ the best of luck.”
Susan appeared on ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions’ last year and also released her eighth studio album ‘Ten’ – celebrating a decade in the spotlight – meaning her schedule might be too packed to juggle the show as well.
Meanwhile, dance troup Diversity – who beat Susan to be crowned winners 10 years ago – have also confirmed they won’t be available for a triumphant return.
Ashley Banjo said: “Who would have thought ten years ago when we won BGT we would be preparing for our biggest tour yet, Born Ready? While we are unable to take part, we wish all the acts the best of luck.”
Filming for the upcoming series is set to start this week, with the likes of crooner Paul Potts, dance duo Stavros Flatley and knife swallower Alex Magala taking part.

Gavin and Stacey casting two new roles for Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gavin and Stacey’ will have two new characters for the upcoming Christmas special.
Bosses behind the one off revival of the hit BBC sitcom are said to be casting for a pair of roles as the show – which was created and written by James Corden and Ruth Jones – returns later this year.
As reported by The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, the team are looking to cast a new neighbour called Emlyn, and a local shopworker lothario in Barry Island.
Filming got underway for the highly anticipated comeback earlier this month, with the likes of Corden and Jones – who also play Smithy and Nessa Jenkins, alongside Mathew Horne and Joanna Page in the title roles – rejoined by former co-stars Larry Lamb (Mick Shipman), Rob Brydon (Uncle Bryn), Alison Steadman (Pam Shipman) and Melanie Walters (Gwen West).
Former ‘EastEnders’ star Larry has described being back working on the special a decade after the last episode as a family reunion.
He previously said: “It’s always funny when you go and do something that you’ve done with a load of actors before because the thing is that with a family situation with actors, you do actually become a family.
“It’s so intense and you’re together a lot and you become a family and there we were all together again in the room together for the first time in 10 years it was lovely.”
And although he is staying tight-lipped on what happens, Larry has promised fans they will get “everything they want” from the reunion.
He teased: “Everybody’s been going on about it for 10 years, it was just at the point I was going to have a tattoo on my forehead saying ‘I don’t know, don’t ask!’ And then I get a phone call from James Corden.
“And then I have to carry it around for two months until it all finally came through and then I got to read the script and really in the end what they’ve managed to do, they’ve not tried to turn it into a great big circus or something. They’ve rolled it on and there you are 10 years down the line, everything you want is gonna be there.”

Jeremy Vine is ‘great friends’ with Strictly partner Karen Clifton

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Vine “became great friends” with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Karen Clifton.
The TV broadcaster was paired up with the ballroom pro in 2015, and although he was worried about the show’s apparent curse, he struck up a friendship with the dancer.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday newspaper’s EVENT magazine, he said: “Well, I became great friends with Karen Clifton, which is a lovely part of it.”
Opening up last year about his time on ‘Strictly’, the 54-year-old star admitted he developed feelings for Karen, and he could understand how other contestants have their head turned despite being in a relationship.
He previously revealed: “I thought, gosh, I can see why this happens, because you go into a completely different space.
“Suddenly I’m seeing someone who is like a goddess: super-human. The power and the strength and grace of that person, then you are spending eight, nine hours a day within two inches of them.
“It’s a powerful thing, that’s all I can say. I thought, I don’t know what I’m feeling here.”
However, he’s now admitted his wife Rachel – who he married in 2002 – was “cool” about the situation, and even put him in his place with a ‘Fawlty Towers’ quote from Prunella Scales’ character Sybil Fawlty.
Addressing her on-screen husband Basil (John Cleese) in the classic sitcom, she said: “For goodness’ sake Basil, do you really think a woman like that would be interested in a brilliantine stick insect like you?”
For Jeremy, ‘Strictly’ has had a long lasting impact on his life, and he said he values the “connection” he’s made with the show’s younger audience.
Asked if it’s had an effect, he replied: “I worry the answer may be yes! One of the things that is beautiful is that it gives you a connection with people who are properly young. Kids, young teenagers, who watch with their parents.”

‘Call the Midwife’s creator Heidi Thomas to quit her role

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Call the Midwife’s creator Heidi Thomas is to quit her role.
The writer and producer is set to ease herself out of the BBC drama after being involved with the project since its inception in 2012.
She said: “It’s like owls when they learn to fly – they wriggle along the branch and then suddenly they’re flying. I suppose that will be me in the next year or two. When I look at the casualties along the way, my path for the last eight years is strewn with bodies, corpses, things I was commissioned and couldn’t write. What I don’t want, when Call the Midwife ends, is for me to be 60 and redundant so I have to go and do yoga and polish things at church and do all the other things retired ladies do. I feel as though there’s a dance in the old dame yet. I will always look after ‘Call the Midwife.'”
The drama – which is commissioned for another three series and will remain on the air until 2022 at least – features a group of midwives in East London in the 50s and 60s and stars the likes of Jennifer Kirby, Helen George, Leonie Elliot and Jenny Agutter.
And Heidi is glad she has been able to bring wider issues to the forefront through the series.
Speaking to Lord Melvyn Bragg for The South Bank Show, she added: “It’s always worth it. I’ve had a few letters from people saying they haven’t aborted a Down’s syndrome pregnancy because we’ve depicted Down’s syndrome positively. If you’re creating dialogue in wider society that’s an incredible thing for a drama to do and it makes us take it very seriously.”

Sam Aston dumped wife Briony when they were teenagers

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Aston once dumped his childhood sweetheart when they were younger.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor recently married Briony – whom he met as a teenager – in May, and he admitted his wife will never let him forget that their relationship got off to a rocky start.
Sam, now 26, told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “Briony and I met when I was about 15 or 16. We talked through MSN messenger and then went on a date. We got together, but we were very young.
“I ended it – which she always likes to bring up. We lived quite far from each other and because we were so young, neither of us drove,” he continued.
“We went to different schools and at weekends had different hobbies. I was in ‘Corrie’ too, so I had filming. We just didn’t see enough of each other. We split, but there was nothing bitter about it.”
Sam – who has appeared on the cobbles since 2003 – revealed the pair reunited a few years later at a drama workshop, and rediscovered their spark.
He added: “Three or four years later we were both helping out at the same drama workshop. Carol Godby’s acting school, which is where I started as a youngster.
“I was teaching and Briony was in the room next door. I think she might have given me a funny look when I first walked in, but we soon got past that and straight away we got talking.
“We went for a meal that night at a country pub and that was it. We’ve been together ever since.”
The loved up couple tied the knot at Stock Farm in Cheshire earlier this year surrounded by their family and friends, including several of Sam’s ‘Corrie’ co-stars.
Katie McGlynn (Sinead Tinker), Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Mikey North (Gary Windass) were all in attendance to see the pair, who have been engaged since June 2017, become husband and wife.

Hollyoaks: Mercedes Queen will get comeuppance in huge storyline

OHMYGOSSIP — Mercedes McQueen will “get her comeuppance” on ‘Hollyoaks’ this year in “one of the biggest chapters in her life”.
The Channel 4 soap’s boss Bryan Kirkwood has promised huge developments for Jennifer Metcalfe’s alter ego, who is cheating on loyal husband Sylver (David Tag) with villain Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan), while she has also been taking drugs and neglecting her parental responsibilities to young son Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox).
Bryan told Digital Spy: “Mercedes’ affair with Liam is going to get really messy. Our characters on Hollyoaks fit into really clear archetypes – if they’re successful, that is – and we see Mercedes as a bad girl who wants to be good.
“That’s her role in the show. But Mercedes is going to get her comeuppance later in the year, in ways that I can’t go into right now.
“The decisions that Mercedes has made over the past few months – the good ones and the terrible ones – are all building to one of the biggest chapters in her life. That includes the love triangle with Liam and Sylver, the lies about Grace’s hit and run, and the drug-taking.”
While the executive producer promised some “sexy fun” over the summer, he admitted things will “turn toxic” for Mercedes which sets up a very dramatic autumn.
He explained: “We are going to see Mercedes have sexy fun over the start of summer. But by the end of the summer, her affair with Liam will turn toxic and that leads us into an exciting autumn.”

Russell Kane’s Evil Genius show

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Kane’s ‘Evil Genius’ podcast is coming to television.
Following the success of the audio show, the 43-year-old comedian has been given the green light to turn it into a TV show.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Evil Genius has been a massive hit, with listening figures going through the roof. Producers have decided to start a full prime-time series, which Russell is really excited about. It’s very early days but the Beeb is hoping the show will have the same banter and calibre of guests as the podcast.”
The BBC series – which is set to air later this year – will see Russell joined by a celebrity panel, where they will discuss cultural icons including the likes of Albert Einstein and Margaret Thatcher.
Meanwhile, Russell previously confessed he was “surprised” that his podcast had done so well.
He said: “This was the surprise hit last year. It went almost all the way to the very top of the podcast charts with no budget and no PR – not just top episode but top podcast – and I thought, ‘How can we be above Desert Island Discs?’ No money and our sound effects were s***.”
Explaining how he came up with the idea, he added: “One of the producers came to me and said, ‘Have you got any ideas that you’d like to do for Radio 4 or as a BBC show?’ and I said, ‘There’s this game me and my mates play down the pub when we’re hammered. You take someone – say Gandhi – I give a few facts and you have to vote whether you think he’s evil or genius.'”

Adrian Dunbar to record album

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Dunbar is to record his first album.
The ‘Line of Duty’ star has plans to head into the studio to work on his music after being “approached” to add another string to his bow.
He said: “I’m hoping to do something in the recording studio some time this year and I’ve had a couple of approaches about doing things. I was in bands many years ago, singing backing vocals and all the rest of it. I just never get a chance to do any of that because I started acting and you focus on other things. But I’ve always kept it going and I’ve always done gigs with friends of mine in Ronnie Scott’s over the years. It’s kind of country jazz really. I like stuff that straddles the easy listening, country jazz sort of stuff.”
And Adrian would love to tour his album too.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “It would be good to do a few gigs. I’ve done a few gigs before, I had a band some years ago and we used to do a lot of gigs around the place, which was good fun – we did a lot of gigs around Bundoran, all the guys, the members of the band were from that area. We used to do lots gigs in and around there and now and again we’d go up to Belfast and do a couple of gigs, so hopefully we can get that back together again, you know? But that tour will be on the back burner a bit until we get an album together. The idea would be to get an album together and then do the gigs off the back of that. I could be in the studio this year, if everything works out I could be.”
