Carol Decker to star in BBC comedy Mandy

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Decker is set to star in new BBC show ‘Mandy’.
The T’Pau singer has joined the cast of the comedy short alongside ‘After Life’ star Diane Morgan, who will make her directorial debut on the project.
The 15-minute comedy is one of four shorts which bosses feel will appeal to all types of audiences and the others include ‘Brain In Gear’, ‘Lazy Susan’, and ‘Sorry’.
Although it is unknown who the ‘China In My Hand’ hitmaker will play, the show will follow Diane as a woman who is desperate to buy a sofa and the ‘Motherland’ star also penned the script, found the film’s location and made choices on hair, costume and make-up.
She previously joked: “As well as writing and performing in this, I also did location scouting, prop-buying, costume and my own hair and make-up. But if it’s no good I can always blame the director. Oh hang on, that was me as well.”
The BBC said of the show in a statement: “Have you ever seen a sofa you like in a shop window and really wanted it? Wanted it so much you can’t stop thinking about it? Wanted it so much you feel physically sick?
“Wanted it so much that nothing else in your life matters and you’d do anything, literally anything to get it, no matter the cost? Of course, you have, we all have.
“And at long last, someone has made a comedy film about really, really wanting a sofa. We could tell you the sofa is a metaphor for something – happiness maybe, or equality perhaps. But it isn’t. It’s just a really nice sofa.”

Love Island’s Michael Griffiths planning calendar

OHMYGOSSIP — Love Island’s Michael Griffiths wants to create a sexy calendar to raise money for firefighters.
The 28-year-old fireman has had discussions about stripping off for a set of photos which will accompany each month of 2020 and he wants all the proceeds to go to helping firefighters who have been injured or suffered psychological damage due to their heroic job.
During an appearance on ‘This Morning’, he said: “I want to do a calendar, I’m talking about it and I want to donate the money from it to firefighters charities.”
The main organisation in the UK that helps firefighters and their families is The Fire Fighters Charity.
Michael left the villa as a pantomime villain after he dumped Amber Gill for Joanna Chimonides when he was moved to Casa Amor on the ITV2 reality dating show.
In a segment with Kem Cetinay – who was crowned the winner of the 2017 series with his now ex-girlfriend Amber Davies – on the ITV daytime show Michael admitted he was shocked to see Jordan Hames blowing his relationship with Anna Vakili after deciding he had a crush on India Reynolds.
The Liverpool lad said: “I would love to just get back in and be like think about this before you do it. It was weird because he didn’t speak to Anna first.”
Since being dumped from the villa, Michael is aware that he is not liked by many fans due to him breaking things off with popular Islander Amber but he is ignoring the haters and feels grateful to have been given the chance to be a contestant on the romantic programme.
Michael said: “I’m just ignoring everything, at the moment I’m just really grateful to have been given the opportunity to be on the show.”

Maura Higgins questioning Love Island romance with Curtis Pritchard

OHMYGOSSIP — Maura Higgins is set to question her relationship with Curtis Pritchard on the episode of ‘Love Island’ to air on Wednesday night (24.07.19).
The 28-year-old model is left unsure about her romance with the 23-year-old dancer after learning he advised Jordan Hames – who recently asked Anna Vakili to be his girlfriend – to speak to model India Reynolds about his feelings for her which led to a huge row between Jordan and Anna in the Villa.
Speaking in the Beach Hut, Maura says: “For Curtis to give that advice to Jordan, it baffles me. If he was my boyfriend, is that what he would do? Would he pull a girl before chatting to his girlfriend?”
Maura and Curtis later have a chat on the swing seat, and the dancer – who is the brother of Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard – is frustrated that Maura took the information from their conversation and immediately told Anna about Jordan’s feelings for India.
Curtis says: “All I wanted to do was talk to you and get your opinion.”
Maura then replies: “She’s my friend. I care about her. I’m angry that he asked her to be his girlfriend a few days ago and now he’s cracking on with someone else.”
Curtis adds: “He is brave for doing it!”
Maura snaps: “Wow. That’s cheating Curtis!”
Curtis says: “He’s only just had these feelings now.”
Maura asks: “Would you do the same thing if I was your girlfriend?”
Curtis then changes his mind and comes to the conclusion that he may have made a mistake and gave Jordan the wrong advice about India.
Speaking with Maura in the garden, Curtis says: “I do see your point of view. I did give the wrong advice to Jordan.”
Meanwhile, after an explosive night in the villa, the girls rush to Anna’s side to support her, whilst the rest of the Islanders become aware that Curtis advised Jordan to tell India how he felt.
Speaking with the girls in the lounge, Anna says: “I’m never talking to Curtis again.”
In the upcoming episode Jordan pulls Anna for a chat and apologises for disrespecting her by speaking to India – who is coupled up with basketball player Ovie Soko.
Jordan says: “First of all, I want to apologise for what happened last night. I should have had a conversation with you first before speaking to India.”
Anna feels Jordan is missing the reason why she is upset, adding: “You shouldn’t have pulled me first. You shouldn’t have asked me to be your girlfriend! You shouldn’t have lied to me for the past three weeks.”
If there wasn’t already enough drama Jordan receives a text, which reads: “Islanders. Please gather around the fire pit immediately.”
It is revealed to the Islanders that the public have been voting for their favourite couple, and the two couples with the fewest votes will be dumped from the Island.
‘Love Island’ continues on Wednesday (24.07.19) on ITV2 at 9pm.

EastEnders boss hoping to encourage abuse survivors to come forward

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ boss Kate Oates hopes to “encourage” domestic abuse survivors to “get the help we know they deserve” through the show’s latest harrowing violence storyline.
The BBC soap is currently airing a storyline in which Gray Atkins (Toby Alexander-Smith) has been assaulting his wife Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) behind closed doors, despite them seeming to be the perfect couple, with Gray being known around Albert Square as a nice guy.
And now, boss Kate has said the team have paired up with domestic violence charities Refuge and Women’s Aid to guarantee the story is told accurately, because bosses want to “acknowledge” the varying degrees of abuse.
Kate said: “In this story, we seek to acknowledge the fact that any relationship, however outwardly enviable, can be affected by violence and abuse.
“Chantelle is strong and capable, with friends and family to support her; and yet she is still unable to voice what is happening to her, and is therefore preventing anyone from helping her as she regards her abuse as a shameful secret. We hope this story encourages those who experience violence to get the help we know they deserve.”
Jessica, who plays Chantelle, also wants to help those in “similar situations” to her character, and says it’s an “honour” to take on such a hard hitting storyline.
Speaking to Inside Soaps magazine, she added: “I feel honoured to take on the responsibility of Chantelle’s story. We hope that we can highlight an issue, and encourage those in similar situations to seek the help they need.”
Recent scenes on the soap have shown Gray feud with Chantelle’s father Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) after Chantelle’s younger brother Keegan (Zack Morris) reveals he’s been inspired to quit school after spending time with the solicitor at his work.
Unhappy with the news, Mitch storms over to Gray’s house to have it out with him, and soon after the heated exchange begins, the pair exchange blows.
The harrowing storyline is set to continue on Friday (26.07.19) at 8pm on BBC One.

Jake Wood calls for an end to ginger discrimination

OHMYGOSSIP — Jake Wood wants to “lead the army” against ginger discrimination.
The 47-year-old actor – who stars as Max Branning in BBC soap ‘EastEnders’ – has taken to Twitter to slam those who “tease and bully” people with ginger hair, as he says he doesn’t understand why it’s deemed “socially acceptable” to take aim at someone for the colour of their hair.
Quoting a video from BBC The Social which poked fun at the idea that red-heads struggle in hot weather, Jake wrote: “Bulls**t. I’m calling this out. Why is it socially acceptable to take the p**s out of someone for the colour of their hair and not for the colour of their skin?! All gingers have experienced being teased and bullied. I’m not even joking @GingerParrotUK I’m happy to lead the army (sic)”
Jake mentioned Ginger Parrot in his tweet, which is a website catered toward reporting on red-head specific news, and the company was all too happy to get behind his message.
In the replies, they wrote: “Let’s start a red-volution! (sic)”
And fans of the soap star flocked to the comments section to agree with him, calling out the double standards of discrimination.
One fan wrote: “The same people that are racist against people of colour are the same ones who are calling out people because they have ginger hair… I totally agree with you and I hear you and it’s great that you’re taking the stand and because it’s not acceptable not acceptable at all (sic)”
Whilst another said: “I hear ya, seriously though I have been saying this for years. (sic)”

Anna, Jordan, Harley and Chris dumped from Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Vakili, Jordan Hames, Harley Brash, and Chris Taylor have all been dumped from the ‘Love Island’ villa.
The two couples narrowly missed out on a place in the final of the ITV2 reality show – which concludes on Monday (29.07.19) – as they were booted from the infamous villa during Wednesday (24.07.19) night’s shock double elimination.
Viewers had been voting for their favourite couples, and islanders were left shocked when they discovered the result would be 100 percent decided on the public vote, with both the bottom couples leaving the villa.
The result sees Harley and Chris’ romance meet its on-screen end after just a few days of being coupled up, while for Anna and Jordan, the dumping follows a tense week which saw Jordan admit he likes fellow islander India Reynolds, leaving Anna – whom he’d recently asked to be his girlfriend – fuming.
And although things might be over for Anna and Jordan following their feud, Harley and Chris are hoping to continue things outside of the villa.
Speaking after her exit, Harley said: “I wouldn’t have done anything differently. I stayed true to myself.
“It’s still really early for me and Chris. We’re going to see how things go on the outside.
“He’s so lovely and he’s so sweet. So, I’m excited to see where it goes.”
And Chris added: “Meeting Harley was obviously a highlight.
“It’s really early doors for us, we didn’t get to spend loads and loads of time together in the villa. It’s anyone’s guess at the moment.
“It could be a thing but we need to spend more time together in a real-life environment to know whether anything could work.”
‘Love Island’ continues on Thursday (25.07.19) at 9pm on ITV2.

Priscilla Presley backs Lana Del Rey for biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Priscilla Presley is backing Lana Del Rey to play her in the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic.
The ‘Born To Die’ hitmaker had reportedly put herself forward to director Baz Luhrman for the role of the late ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ singer’s ex-wife – who he was wed to from 1967 to 1973 – and the ‘Naked Gun’ actress herself thinks she’d be a good choice.
Asked her thoughts on who should play her in the movie and if she’d heard Lana was up for the role, she replied: “I like Lana.”
But the 74-year-old star didn’t offer much of an opinion on Austin Butler being cast in the lead role.
She simply said: “I don’t know.”
It was previously claimed 34-year-old Lana had spoken to Baz and pointed out the likenesses between herself and Priscilla.
A source recently said: “Lana feels it’s a role she was born to play.”
Meanwhile, the director recently confirmed Austin’s casting after an “extensive” process that also saw the likes of Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Miles Teler linked with playing Elvis.
He said: “I knew I couldn’t make this film if the casting wasn’t absolutely right, and we searched thoroughly for an actor with the ability to evoke the singular natural movement and vocal qualities of this peerless star, but also the inner vulnerability of the artist.
“Through a journey of extensive screen testing and music and performance workshops, I knew unequivocally that I had found someone who could embody the spirit of one of the world’s most iconic musical figures.”
Luhrmann will direct the movie and has penned the script along with Craig Pearce, and the filmmaker previously said he was keen to hire a relatively unknown actor to play the late ‘Hound Dog’ hitmaker, who died in 1977 aged 42 at his Graceland estate.
The director is keen to begin production on the project later this year.

Catherine Hardwicke to direct Heathen

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine Hardwicke will direct ‘Heathen’.
The ‘Twilight’ director has signed on to helm the female-centric Viking action-fantasy, which will be based on the Vault Comic of the same name by Natasha Alterici.
A message on the Vault comics Facebook page read: “We have some major news for you HEATHEN fans! “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke will be joining up with Constatin Films to bring Aydis to the big screen!”
The comics tell the story of Aydis, a young queer Viking warrior who becomes an outcast due to her sexuality. Her ostracism leads her on a journey to end the oppressive reign of Odin, the leader of the Viking gods.
Constantin Film and Prime Universe Films are working together on the film, while the script has been written by Kerry Williamson.
Hardwicke is executive producing along with Constantin’s Martin Moszkowicz and Vault CEO Damian Wassel.
Speaking previously about the planned movie adaptation of her comic, Alterici said: “The entire Heathen team and I are incredibly excited about adapting my little lesbian Viking comic for film. I’ve been a film fanatic for longer than I’ve been a comics fans, and that my working in one format would lead to another is nothing less than a dream come true.”
Prime Universe Film’s Adrian Askarieh added: “Natasha has created an instant classic which smartly ties into the current socio-political zeitgeist while being a first-rate, timeless adventure story. Not only is it a great passion of ours to bring Heathen to the big screen, but also a true honour.”

Anna Vakili nearly quit Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Vakili almost quit ‘Love Island’ twice.
The 28-year-old beauty – who was dumped from the villa on Wednesday (24.07.19) along with Jordan Hames, Harley Brash, and Chris Taylor – admitted she had to be talked out of leaving the show after Jordan confessed he had feelings for India Reynolds, just two days after asking her to be his girlfriend.
She told The Sun Online: “I felt: ‘If the public don’t like me or want to watch me, then why am I here?’
“I thought I was in such a strong relationship that I could continue it on the outside if nobody wanted to watch me. That makes me laugh now.
“The second time was when Jordan did what he did – I was almost taking my mic off.
“I would have walked out if it wasn’t for everybody around me telling me not to and talking to me.
“I am glad I didn’t. I would have regretted walking because of a man doing something to me.
“I’d have regretted it forever if I’d walked out because of him – I wasn’t letting him having that satisfaction.
And Anna doesn’t believe anyone on the show has done anything worse than the 24-year-old model.
She fumed: “I think Jordan’s behaviour is the worst in Love Island history.
“Who makes someone their girlfriend, then announces they have feelings for another girl and tells her in front of my face, without telling me?
“I think that’s the worst thing that’s ever happened on the show and trust it to happen to me – it’s just my luck.”
Anna accused Jordan of using her in a bid to get to the final of the show and admitted she’s relieved they never had sex.
She said: “I feel he wasn’t genuine about liking me or caring about me.
“When he saw we weren’t being saved, he thought there was no point in continuing. That’s so bad.
“We didn’t have sex and I am so glad. Imagine if I had – I would have been even more upset.”

Jamie Laing signs up for Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Laing has signed up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Made In Chelsea’ star has been approached by BBC bosses about taking part in the ballroom competition after they changed their policy on including reality TV stars.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “It is a surprising U-turn from the BBC and ‘Strictly’.
“They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.
“There’s only so many famous faces out there so clearly they have decided enough is enough and have had to retreat a bit in order to get enough celebs for this year.”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are using superheroes as code names for contestants.
The team behind the show is trying to keep the official lineup under wraps for now, and they are using some comic book monikers as the nicknames for this year’s batch of celebrities to keep their identities a secret until the big reveal.
An insider said: “The code names are a fun way of keeping everything hush hush ahead of the reveal.
“They try to mix it up every time and this year it will be a load of Batman, Superman and of course, Superwoman.”
Last year, the likes of Katie Piper and reigning champion Stacey Dooley were named after cheeses.
This time around, the likes of former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Catherine Tyldesley and Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin are said to be featuring in the lineup.

Hollyoaks heartbreak for John Paul McQueen

OHMYGOSSIP — John Paul McQueen will come face-to-face with his rapist in ‘Hollyoaks’.
James Sutton’s much-loved alter-ego John Paul is returning to the Channel 4 soap five years after his harrowing rape storyline and there is set to be further distress for him when he meets rapist Finn O’Connor (Keith Rice) after his comeback later this year.
Producer Bryan Kirkwood told The Sun Online: “We’ve always been keen to revisit Finn. Keith Rice is a brilliant young actor who did great work with us five years ago with the John Paul rape story.”
And Bryan revealed Finn is set for a shock of his own when he meets his brother-in-law Laurie, who has raped his sister Sinead.
He said: “It’s a brilliant soap coincidence that they’re in the back of the same prison van.
“He’s in court because he’s a witness to a prison riot and he happens to be in the back of the van when this stranger comes in to join him and in the course of their journey, he realises Laurie is the man who raped his sister and all hell breaks loose.
“We felt that he’d been in prison for the correct amount of time and it was a very interesting concept to bring Sinead’s brother back who is a convicted rapist, time served, as Sinead is putting her life back together after [their stepmother] Diane.
“Diane is in the middle wrangling with turmoil with her two kids. That felt really appealing to us, half the writing team wanted Finn to be redeemed and the other half, just as correctly, felt that our audience didn’t have an appetite to see such a hard-hearted villain be redeemed.
“So we’re taking it very gently, very carefully and we hope we’ll take the audience with us so they can make their own minds up.”

Megan Barton-Hanson has crush on Love Island hunk Ovie Soko

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Love Island’ star Megan Barton-Hanson has a crush on Ovie Soko.
The model has been watching the 2019 series of the ITV2 reality dating show with envy because she wishes basketball player Ovie had been in the villa during her time on the programme last year.
Megan is up for dating Ovie when he leaves the show if he’s single and not in a relationship with model India Reynolds.
In an interview Heat magazine, she said: “I was messaging all my friends like a school girl saying, ‘Oh my god, I was in the wrong year! I need that 6ft 7in piece of ass!’ I’d be up for a date with him when he gets out.”
The 25-year-old beauty found love with Wes Nelson in the villa last year but their relationship ended after eight months when he competed on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
Megan admits that she and Wes no longer speak and she has no interest in having a friendship with him.
She said: “We don’t speak, whatsoever. I don’t want a friendship with him. There is definitely nothing to talk about. I have moved on. I’m in a really happy place and I’m just surrounding with positive, truthful, honest people.”

Jennifer Lawrence to star in Mob Girl

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lawrence is to star in Paolo Sorrentino’s new film ‘Mob Girl’.
The 28-year-old actress has reportedly joined the ‘Young Pope’ director’s latest film based on the real-life story of Arlyne Brickman, who married into the Mafia, and the project is based on the novel ‘Mob Girl: A Woman’s Life In The Underworld’ by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and author Teresa Carpenter.
Angelina Burnett is adapting Carpenter’s novel and both Sorrentino and the ‘Hunger Games’ star will serve as producers on the project.
According to the book’s official synopsis, it follows Brickman “growing up among racketeers on the Lower East Side of New York City” associating with mobsters.
It continues: “Drawn to the glamorous and flashy lifestyle, she was soon dating ‘wise guys’ and running errands for them; but after years as a mob girlfriend, Arlyne began to get in on the action herself — eventually becoming a police informant and major witness in the government’s case against the Colombo crime family.”
The movie is being brought to the big screen by Makeready.
In a statement, Makeready founder and CEO Brad Weston said: “Seeing this story from a woman’s point of view is a fresh and exciting approach to telling a classic mob story
“We could not imagine a more perfect team of stellar filmmakers, with Jennifer starring in a tour de force role and Paolo at the helm, to bring Arlyne’s strength and unique perspective to life on screen.”
The ‘Red Sparrow’ actress will next be seen in an as-yet-untitled debut feature-length from Lila Neugebauer with a script penned by first-time screenwriter Elizabeth Sanders.
Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing alongside Lawrence herself, who is teaming up with her Excellent Cadaver partner Justine Polsky on the forthcoming flick.

Mad Max: Fury Road director still planning sequels

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ director George Miller is still planning to make two sequels to the action flick.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker has assured fans that despite the ongoing legal battle between Warner Bros. and his own production company, Kennedy Miller Mitchell, over unpaid earnings on the 2015 film, he’s still planning on making more movies in the post-apocalyptic franchise and is confident they will make it to the big screen.
Speaking to IndieWire, he said: “There are two stories, both involving Mad Max and also a Furiosa story. We’re still solving, we’ve got to play out the Warners thing [but] it seems to be pretty clear that it’s going to happen.”
The ‘Mad Max’ franchise began in 1979 with the dystopian action thriller becoming a surprise hit that catapulted a young Mel Gibson to fame.
Miller, 74, followed up the movie with two sequels, 1981’s ‘Mad Max 2’ and 1985’s ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome’ which also starred Tina Turner, before bringing it back four years ago with Tom Hardy cast as the titular Max Rockatansky.
The 2015 film sees Max and Charlize Theron as warrior Imperator Furiosa team up to help free a group of women – who have been imprisoned by a tyrant Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) – in a bid to make a new life away from the desert wastelands in the mythical “Green Place”.
Hardy, 41, previously stated he is ready to “jump” back into ‘Mad Max’ as soon as the movies get the green light.
He said: “It was always the plan to do three of them, so I think we’re still waiting on being given the opportunity and the green light to go ahead on the next one. But when I engaged on that there was a plethora of material on it … As soon as it’s real we’ll jump on it.”
