Andy Serkis to direct Venom 2?

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Serkis is reportedly among the candidates to direct ‘Venom 2’.
The 55-year-old actor – who directed 2018’s ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’ – is one of a number of people who’ve met with Sony about helming the company’s ‘Venom’ sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ruben Fleischer helmed the first ‘Venom’ movie, which starred Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, aka Venom, but he is not returning to direct the sequel.
The original movie made as much as $856 million at the global box office and Sony is determined to start shooting the follow-up before the end of the year, with the company reportedly hoping to begin production work in November.
Meanwhile, Andy – who is best-known for his motion-capture work – previously insisted he isn’t motivated by accolades.
The acclaimed actor claimed he is simply determined to make the best movies he can possibly make, rather than chasing awards.
Speaking after making ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’, Andy shared: “We don’t make films to win awards, it’s very lovely if it comes along.
“But for me the reward is fulfilling a vision and being in a privileged position to make a film like this where you’re going to be sharing it with an audience and hopefully in some small way, changing the perception of humanity.”

Guillermo del Toro isn’t ‘interested’ in scares as director

OHMYGOSSIP — Guillermo del Toro says he “isn’t interested” in scaring his audience.
The 53-year-old filmmaker confessed that while working on the genre as a director, he will use “horror images” but likes to treat his films “more like a fairytale”.
In an interview with SFX magazine, he said: “As a director, I’m not that interested in scares. I use my horror movies more like a fairytale. I do horror images, but like a fairy tale.
Guillermo is currently producing the big-screen adaptation of Alvin Schwartz’s collection of short horror stories ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ with André Øvredal at the helm and confessed that as a producer on a film, he is “very interested” in scares as it’s something he “enjoys watching”.
He said: “As a producer, I’m really interested in the scares with Juan Antonio Bayona in The Orphanage, and with Andy Muschietti on Mama, and André Øvredal on [Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark]. I’m very interested because it’s something that I enjoy watching.
“In this movie, you need to coax the audience with very elegant camera work and very good set-ups. There’s a high production value, too. Plus, I have lots of empathy with the characters.”
The ‘Hellboy’ helmer went on to explain that although this film – which is rated PG-13 – is made for families to watch together, he hopes audiences who are children now will be able to appreciate the film in the future.
When asked whether the movie was made for children, he said: “When I made the first ‘Hellboy’, I thought, ‘The audience that I really want for this movie is going to be able to tell me what they think 10 years from now!’
“I was making that movie for kids and, sure enough, the people who grew up with it are the people who love it most.
“However, the beauty of this project is the way that it’s a horror movie that can be watched with the family.”

Florence Pugh excited by ‘boldness’ of Black Widow movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Pugh feels excited by the boldness of the ‘Black Widow’ script.
The 23-year-old actress stars alongside Scarlett Johansson in the much-discussed Marvel movie, and she’s admitted to being surprised by some aspects of the film’s script.
Asked about her initial reaction to the script, Florence told Collider: “I was excited to see how bold it was – and to see how raw it was … and to see how sad it was. It was a script that I didn’t expect to see associated with this.
“That was part of the reason I got so excited, and with Cate Shortland attached [to direct] and telling the next part of [the Black Widow’s] history], it was only thrilling to be a part of.”
Earlier this month, Scarlett – who plays the titular character in the movie – said she wants the ‘Black Widow’ movie to “elevate” the superhero genre.
Speaking about the eagerly-awaited film, she explained: “I think even just looking at Cate Shortland’s filmography and knowing she’s directing this film…
“Like, it all clicks together, you understand, people say, ‘What’s the movie like? What does it look like? What clues can you give us?’
“The biggest clue I can give you is that Cate Shortland is directing it.
“And her movies are so brutal and breathtaking and raw and truthful and like visually masterful … that’s what I envision for the Black Widow and that’s how we can elevate the genre with ‘Black Widow’.”

Love Island’s Michael Griffiths wants to be friends with Joanna Chimonides

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ star Michael Griffiths has vowed to meet up with his ex-girlfriend Joanna Chimonides to try and build a friendship between them.
The hunky firefighter was dumped from the ITV2 reality dating show last week just shortly after he made the decision not to quit the villa when Joanna was voted off.
Following her departure, Michael turned his attention back to first squeeze Amber Gill leading to Joanna to insist that there would be no second chance for him outside of the show but the Liverpool lad hopes he see her and smooth things over between them.
In an interview on ‘Lorraine’, he said: “Me and Amber have made up, we’re really good friends and I’m happy we left things doing good, and with Joanna, I’ve only seen her on ‘Aftersun’ so I’m hoping to have a nice little sit down when we can.
“I really want to sit down and speak to her because right now she hasn’t got any kind of clarity on it. She’s seen what she seen on TV but I want to expand it.”
Michael, 28, also insisted the thing he missed about Amber when he re-coupled with Joanna was their friendship because they bounced off one another so well.
He said: “We bounced off each other so much that it was that side I was missing. I’m happy I got to clarify that with Amber.”
Michael has still been watching ‘Love Island’ since leaving and he thinks his friend Jordan Hames started to think about life beyond the programme when he decided to tell model India Reynolds that he had feelings with her even though he has been in a committed relationship with Anna Vakili for the majority of his time in the villa. His actions have seemingly ended the pair’s romance.
On Jordan’s actions, he said: “Me, Anton (Danyluk) and Jordan all sat around and said it’s not really the best idea if you don’t really know if it’s going to work on the outside and then Jordan’s gone ahead and done it.
“You need to think about what you’re going to do before you act on it because if you’re not sure then speak to Anna to see if you can clear things up with her.”

Emily Atack to replace Scarlett Moffatt on I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp?

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Atack is reportedly in talks to take over from Scarlett Moffatt as co-host of ‘I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp’.
Following the news that Scarlett and Joe Swash have quit the ITV2 show, it has now been reported that the former ‘Inbetweeners’ actress is being eyed for the role alongside Joel Dommett, who is staying put on the show, after winning over the nation with her “bubbly personality” during her stint in the jungle last year.
The team behind the show is also said to be on the lookout for another male presenter to join the pair.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Emily charmed ‘I’m A Celeb…’ viewers with her bubbly personality and self-deprecating jokes. She’s a true professional and can more than handle herself live on camera. She has great energy and doesn’t take herself too seriously.
“She’s been open this year about being comfortable in her own skin and producers think she represents real women. She is already mates with Joel.
“Bosses are also planning to book another male presenter to replace Joe as they think a trio of presenters work well on set, with Joel carrying the show.”
Joe announced his departure from ‘Extra Camp’ after a decade to spend more time with his family after he and Stacey Solomon welcomed their first child together, Rex, in May.
The father-of-two – who also has 12-year-old son Harry with his ex-fiancee Emma Sophocleous – wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I’m about to say this … For 10 incredible years I’ve been lucky enough to host my favourite show on telly. I don’t want to miss a second with Stacey and our amazing boys so 3 months in Australia just seems too [much] to bare this year.”
And ‘Gogglebox’ star Scarlett – who joined the spin-off show in 2017, after being crowned Queen of the Jungle the year before – revealed she is working on a mystery project with her family.
She said in her own post: “After chatting to one of my besties @realjoeswashy and seeing his insta post I thought I would do mine to. For 3 years I have enjoyed a jungle life, being crowned queen of the jungle and having the greatest time presenting extra camp with Swashy and Joel who I now class as best friends. The jungle absolutely changed my life and I am massively grateful to everybody who voted for me whilst in the jungle and for your constant support to date and everybody who tuned in to extra camp Massive thank you to all the team including Richard, Angela, Toni, pecks and of course @antanddec and @hollywilloughby @joeldommett and @realjoeswashy but I have got a project that I’ve been working on (alongside my family) that I am very very excited to announce soon. And because of this unfortunately I will not be presenting this years extra camp but I will certainly be tuning in LONG LIVE THE JUNGLE #jungle #love #extracamp #imaceleb (sic)”

Nadia Sawalha believes baby saved her from alcoholism

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Loose Women’ panellist Nadia Sawalha believes getting pregnant with her first child saved her from dying from alcoholism.
The 54-year-old TV star has opened up about how she was “emotionally and physically unwell” when she first met her husband Mark Adderly and has admitted that discovering she was pregnant with daughter Maddie, now 16, in 2002 changed her whole outlook on life.
Speaking on their ‘How To Stay Married (So Far)’ podcast, Nadia said: “I was such a different person since get pregnant with Maddie. Because it was like, ‘I’ve got this child and I’ve got to look after her,’ and I immediately stopped drinking … And I was pregnant and you were still drinking, and I think that was probably the beginning of us saving our lives. If I hadn’t got pregnant, we probably would have died. We probably would have gone crazy on the alcohol.”
Nadia – who also has 11-year-old daughter Kiki with Mark – had trouble dealing with her grief following the death of her first husband Justin Mildwater, who took his own life in 1997, and used alcohol as a coping mechanism.
TV producer Mark – who has been open about his addition to alcohol and is now teetotal – agreed with his spouse’s appraisal of their relationship with booze.
He said: “Our drinking would have rumbled on to all sorts of self-destruction of the relationship, and … I certainly would have died.”
The pair married in June 2002 and as well as share the secrets of their relationship on their podcast they also open up on family life on their YouTube channel ‘Nadia Sawalha and Family’.

Kate Ford and Melanie Hill hit back at former Coronation Street writer

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Ford and Melanie Hill have fired back at former ‘Coronation Street’ writer Daran Little after he revealed he spent train journeys plotting what characters to kill off.
The 53-year-old writer – who penned a number of episodes of the ITV soap until 2010 and now works on BBC One’s ‘EastEnders’ – came under fire from some of the soap’s stars for his “flippant” comments.
He tweeted: “Things soap writers do on boring train journeys … No.1 make a list of all the people you’ve killed off. No.2 make a list of all the people you want to kill off. No.3 make a list of all the people you wished you had killed off … Chatted to an actor once, said I’d forgotten how he’d left a particular show. His grim reply: ‘You killed me off’. Oh yes … (sic)”
And Melanie – who plays Cathy Matthews – was quick to reply to Daran’s comments.
In a now deleted tweet, she wrote: “As an actor in a soap, I am quite shocked by this flippant / arrogant and quite frankly upsetting comment. Who the actual f*** made you God? We are all trying to do our jobs day after day. Granted, yes our lives are in your hands. But do you have to be so f***ing mean-spirited? (sic)”
Whilst Kate – who plays Tracy Barlow – added in her own message: “Why are you tweeting this stuff Darren??? This is people’s careers. (sic)”
Vicky Entwistle – who plays Janice Battersby – warned: “Be careful!!! Karma is her own mistress!!! Keep looking over your shoulder!! (sic)”
Daran later took to social media to clarify his comments.
He wrote: “The actor in question had asked to leave. Sorry for offending anyone. Guess I shouldn’t tweet when jet lagged and on meds. (sic)”

Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy to star in Louis Wain

OHMYGOSSIP — Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy are set to star in ‘Louis Wain’.
The ‘Sherlock’ star is set to reunite with ‘The Crown’ actress, whom he worked with on the 2011 drama ‘Wreckers’, on a new biopic about 19th century English artist Louis Wain and his wife Emily.
Will Sharpe will direct the project from a script which was begun by Simon Stephenson in 2014 and later continued by Sharpe.
Benedict, 43, will also serve as a producer on the film and admits he is “thrilled” to be portraying the artist and praised Will, 32, hailing him the “perfect person” to take on the project.
The ‘Doctor Strange’ star told Deadline: “I am thrilled by the prospect of playing the courageous, playful spirit that is Louis Wain and to be producing such a special film. I have admired Will’s work for several years through Flowers and from the moment we first met, knew he was the perfect person to bring Louis’ inspirational and Odyssean story to life. Together we plan to bring audiences a sincerely uplifting, playful, thought-provoking tale of resilience, creativity and the enduring power of love.”
Wain was best known for his drawings, which often featured anthropomorphised large-eyed cats and kittens considered to be in the Cubist art style.
The movie will follow the life of the artist, who was born with a cleft lip and kept away from school by doctors until the age of 10 before he eventually enrolled in the West London School of Art going on to become a teacher there.
At the age of 23, Wain caused controversy by marrying his sisters’ governess, Emily Richardson, who was 10 years his senior and considered to be an unsuitable partner at the time.
Cameras are rolling at West London’s Ealing Studios in August.

The Batman producer defends Robert Pattinson’s Batman casting

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Batman’ producer has defended the casting of Robert Pattinson in the titular role.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the former ‘Twilight Saga’ actor would be taking on the lead role in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming DC Comics blockbuster and despite some fans being dubious over the choice of R-Patz as The Caped Crusader producer Michael E. Uslan has urged people to “wait till they see the movie” before judging Pattinson.
Speaking at Germany’s CCXP Cologne convention, he said: “My position is this: trust the filmmaker and give the filmmaker, and the filmmaker’s vision, the benefit of the doubt. Then wait ’til you see the movie. And then once you see the movie, judge the hell out of it. But I think that’s really the formula going forward.”
The producer went on to explain that he “couldn’t be happier” with that Pattinson, 33, is getting behind the wheel of the Batmobile and trusts director Reeves’ judgement implicitly.
Uslan said: “I couldn’t be happier, I couldn’t be more enthused, as a Batman fan, that Matt Reeves is the filmmaker in charge and has selected Robert Pattinson to be his next Batman. I think the real key question for fans, and for all of us to focus on, is the filmmaker.”
Warner Bros. were reportedly torn between Pattinson and fellow English actor Nicholas Hoult to portray the Gotham City saviour but ultimately were convinced by Reeves that Pattinson was the right man to take over the role from Ben Affleck who had portrayed Batman in the DC Extended Universe films ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Justice League’.
Reeves took over ‘The Batman’ directing duties from Affleck – who stepped down from the role as the titular character in January.

Corrie’s Katie McGlynn celebrates birthday with co-stars

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ star Katie McGlynn celebrated her birthday with some of her co-stars.
The actress – who is bowing out of the ITV soap after 13 years in the role of Sinead Tinker – was joined by her on-screen husband Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), Alexandra Mardell, who plays Emma Brooker, and Daniel Brocklebank ( Billy Mayhew) as she partied in a swanky pad with her pals over the weekend.
Katie thanked PR Lee Bennett for setting up the surprise.
She wrote on Instagram alongside a series of snaps from the celebration: “Huge thank you to my main gal @_leebennett for organising a surprise bday, he pulled out all the stops to make me feel like a lil prin and a special thank you to @tripadvisor for arranging this beaut pad last minute #birthdayweekend #tripadvisorrentals #anyonewouldthinkitsamilestone (sic)”
Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Sinead is set to lose her cancer battle.
Katie’s character has been battling cervical cancer for months, and the horrific disease is expected to take her life in emotional scenes as the star departs the show.
An insider said: “From her two rocky relationships to the mini-bus crash, she’s been in some of Corrie’s most captivating storylines.
“And producers will be sad to see Katie leave the soap, but she will make an unforgettable departure which is set to leave viewers in tears.”
Things appeared to be looking up for Sinead – who initially snubbed treatment to have her and husband Daniel’s son Bertie – after she eventually underwent some aggressive chemotherapy, but it doesn’t look likely to keep the cancer at bay.
In May, it was reported that Katie would be leaving the soap, but ‘Corrie’ said at the time that the former ‘Waterloo Road’ star was “fully committed” to playing out the rest of her character’s cervical cancer storyline, and said the plot “still has a long way to go”.
A spokesperson said: “Katie is fully committed to playing out the extremely important storyline she is currently portraying on screen.
“This story still has a long way to go. Any speculation threatens to undermine the storyline for viewers.”
Katie admitted in January that her ‘Coronation Street’ future was “up in the air”.
She said at the time: “I’m contracted well into this year but it is up in the air. Although I have to wait and see what happens, I quite like not knowing.
“With the nature of my storyline, I guess it’s 50/50. Either way I’d be happy, though.”

Lucy Fallon won’t feel down about herself

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Fallon refuses to feel down about herself.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who plays Bethany Platt on the ITV soap – has confessed she is always comparing herself to others that she sees on social media but she has vowed to stop the comparisons.
She wrote on Instagram: “For the past few months, I have been really really battling with the negative thoughts my head constantly produces about my body. I look at pics on Instagram and I automatically start comparing every part of myself to that picture. It’s ridiculous. And it seems like all I have to do is look at a burger these days and feel like I’ve put on 10 stone. BUT let’s be kinder to ourselves. And each other. I will eat a kit kat if I feel like it and maybe I will order 2 takeaways in a week but I refuse to let anyone make me feel s****y about it. Own what you’ve got and love it because I think we know all too well that life is short and precious. Eat that burger babe x and enjoy it x (sic)”
Lucy announced in May that she would be departing the soap and admitted it was an “extremely difficult” decision to quit the show.
She wrote on Twitter at the time: “Would’ve liked the chance to announce this in my own time lol… however, after the most incredible 4 years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020.
“It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me. I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday. I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly. Thank you so much for your support and love … can’t wait to see what’s in store for Bethany this year. (sic)”

Wesley Snipes backs Mahershala Ali as Blade

OHMYGOSSIP — Wesley Snipes is “all good” with Marvel’s ‘Blade’ reboot and has given Mahershala Ali his blessing to take on the role.
It was announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that Ali, 41, will be taking over the titular lead role as the half-human and half-vampire blood sucker hunter in a new movie based on the Marvel Comics character which will be part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Snipes, 56, portrayed the character in three movies, released in 1998, 2002 and 2004, and he admits he can’t wait to see what Ali does with the Daywalker vampire character and urged all fans of the original trilogy to support the return on Blade.
In a statement, he said: “To all the DAYWALKERS losing their minds right now, chillaaxx. Although the news comes as a surprise, it’s ALL GOOD. Such is the ‘business’ of ‘entertainment!’ Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan.
“Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come.
“Inshallah, we will someday work together. Most importantly to my loyal fans, the incredible outpouring of love is overwhelming.
“I am grateful for the never-ending support. So, ‘nah fret nah worry, it’s not de end of de story.’ Welcome to the Daywalker Klique. (sic)”
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige admitted that he and his colleagues had been looking for a way to relaunch Blade for years.
He said: “We have, for years, wanted to find a new way into Blade. We love that character. We love that world.
“Now with Doctor Strange and the supernatural elements coming into the MCU, it felt like we could definitely start exploring that.
“Mahershala wanted to come in and meet with us, and when Mahershala Ali wants to meet, you take the meeting.
“I think he had just come off of his second Academy Award, and we were talking very polite and he was talking about what a fan he is. And then he just cut right to it and was like ‘Blade.’ And we were like, ‘Yes.'”
In 2018, Snipes admitted he was up for reprising the role of Blade for a fourth time, saying: “If ‘Blade 4’ comes along, that is a conversation we can have. There are other characters in the Marvel Universe that, if they want to invite me to play around with, I am with that too. I think the fans have a hunger for me to revision the Blade character, so that could limit where they could place me as another character in that universe.”

Margot Robbie says Barbie film will put ‘positivity’ into the world

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie thinks the ‘Barbie’ film will put some “positivity out in the world”.
The 29-year-old actress will portray the doll in the upcoming live-action flick about Mattel’s iconic toy and has insisted that the movie – which will follow Barbie as she is expelled from Barbie Land for failing to live up to the expectations of its residents – will be “aspirational” for young people in its message.
Speaking to Variety, she said: “I think it’s a great opportunity to put some positivity out in the world and a change to be aspirational for younger kids”.
It was recently announced that Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach – who have been dating since 2011 – have been signed up by Warner Bros. to pen the script while Greta is also being eyed to direct.
It will also be produced through the ‘Suicide Squad’ star’s Lucky Champ production company, alongside Mattel and Warner Bros.
The 29-year-old actress previously admitted it is an honour to portray Barbie who she believes has promoted empowerment and “self-discovery” in girls for decades.
She said: “Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery.
“Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president.
“I’m so honoured to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide.
“I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros. and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
Margot isn’t the only one who thinks the film will have a positive effect on young people as Mattel Film Chief Robbie Brenner previously agreed that the doll is “empowering”.
Barbie was created by Ruth Handler after being inspired by watching her daughter Barbara play with paper dolls as if they were adults.
Ruth along with the help of her husband Elliot – who worked for toy manufacturers Mattel – developed and launched Barbie in 1959 and they instantly had a hit on their hands which has lasted to this day.

Vanessa Kirby had ‘intense’ first day on Hobbs and Shaw

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw’ star Vanessa Kirby spent her first day filming the action blockbuster “wrapping” her legs around Dwayne Johnson’s neck.
The 31-year-old English actress admits it was an “intense” way to start the shoot especially as she had only met 47-year-old Dwayne once before.
Speaking to HeyUGuys, she said: “My first day involved me wrapping my legs around Dwayne’s neck, so it was the most intense introduction to a film ever and also to a person. I’d only met him once before. It was so much fun.”
Vanessa plays MI6 agent Hattie Shaw, the sister of former British Special Forces assassin-turned-mercenary Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), and daughter of Magdalene Shaw (Dame Helen Mirren) in the high-octane spin-off.
Kirby was full of praise for her co-star Dwayne – who plays federal agent Luke Palagi Hobbs – for being such a support on set.
Talking at the UK premiere of ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ in London on Tuesday night (23.07.19), she said: “He’s like a giant teddy bear. He’s so cuddly. He’s got three beautiful baby girls and an amazing wife, he’s amazing to work with. I think that’s why everyone loves him so much.”
BAFTA winner Vanessa admits it was tough to shoot some of the movie’s more demanding stuff but she also found the really physical scenes the most rewarding.
Vanessa said: “She’s the more rebel sister of the crazy Shaw family. I always wanted her to be as much as of fighter as the guys, that was my main intention. Physically it was really tough. Those bits were my favourite bits, the really demanding physical stuff.
“It’s bolder and bigger. It’s pure action. It couldn’t get any bigger. Even when I was watching it I was like, ‘Are you kidding? What the hell?’ ”

Gregg Wallace: There’s strong competition on Celebrity MasterChef

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregg Wallace admits there is “strong competition” in the upcoming series of ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The BBC One cooking show is to return with a cast of famous faces looking to impress judges Gregg and John Torode with their culinary skills over six weeks of kitchen challenges, with former ‘TOWIE’ star Joey Essex part of the line-up alongside retired Tottenham Hotspur soccer player Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, Vicky Pattison, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional and DJ Judge Jules to name a few.
The 54-year-old presenter revealed the show’s winner is the person who “learns the quickest” and insisted at times “it wasn’t easy” to decide which contestant should be going home because all the celebrities who took part have quality kitchen skills.
Gregg said: “Can I quote my mate John Torode on this, he says, ‘By week one we know who’s going to win the competition and by week two we’ve sacked them!’ It’s not about the best cook at the start it’s about who learns the quickest. I will say, we have some strong characters in the competition this year and it wasn’t easy sometimes it was not easy!”
Away from ‘MasterChef’, Gregg and his wife Anne-Marie – who he shares two-month-old son Sid with – have worked together to pen ‘Gregg’s Italian Family Cookbook’, and the star confessed it was an inevitable collaboration because he loves the country’s culinary delights, and his wife is “one of the best amateur cooks” he’s ever met in his “life”.
Speaking on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on Wednesday morning (24.07.19), Gregg said “I did a programme years ago for a cable channel with my mate Charlie Hicks and we did a tour round Italy looking at Italian food and I fell in love with it then, that was 20 years ago. Since then I’ve been going to Italy once, twice, three times a year, it’s just a coincidence I fell in love with a beautiful Italian girl, an absolute coincidence.
